I love the Gospel of Jesus Christ for SO MANY reasons. One of those reasons is because it is a great place to find Christ’s peace and enter into His rest.

I know that Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost—the Godhead—are the true authors of peace. They can help us feel whole even while we wait for healing. They can help us feel strong when we feel weak. They can make us more when we feel less. I am grateful for the rest that Jesus Christ offers—rest He offers today and every day.

Speaker 1 (00:15):
Hello, Ande, Welcome back to my podcast. So to be
so real with you, I'm currently dog sitting, so okay,
I am recording this episode after I recorded another episode
that I decided is going to come out on Wednesday
or Friday. I already told you all of the things
in that episode, and you're gonna have to hear it again,
so I apologize, but I'm gonna be really quick. This

(00:37):
dog makes a lot of noise. I'm pretty sure in
that other episode she was snoring, so I'm just letting
you know. Now she kind of likes to bark a lot,
so we'll see what happens. But anyway, I'm not currently
at home. I just brought my mic with me. It's
been a very chill, very relaxing weekend. It's Sunday right now.

(00:57):
I went to a YSA word like four minutes away.
That was kind of fun. I think it's cool that
you can go to literally any ward in the whole
world and they'll welcome you. You're just welcomed, and I
think it's incredible. You don't have to be a member
of their award to be welcomed. It's amazing. The other
honest thing is that I totally forgot about this episode,

(01:21):
Like I wrote it down and said, Okay, I'm gonna
record this episode, and then I completely forgot about it
and moved on. In fact, I didn't even write it
down in my upcoming I just completely forgot about it.
But today I noticed a scripture a verse that stood
out to me, and I was like, oh my gosh,
oh yeah, And then I remembered it's gonna be kind

(01:43):
of a study with me rather than just I don't know,
it's just not gonna be as entertaining as other episodes,
and that's okay. But for now I'm just gonna start
by talking about what this episode is. So as you
can see the title of the Authors of Peace. One
of my favorite things about the Gospel of Jesus Christ,
and specifically about Jesus Christ himself, is that he is

(02:07):
the author of peace. Satan can mimic a lot of feelings.
He can mimic happiness, he can mimic contentment. There's different
things that he can make us feel or put us
in environments where we think we're feeling happy, but really
it's not real. For example, drugs, you know, through that serotonin.

(02:30):
But one thing that he genuinely cannot mimic, just cannot,
nor does he want to. Honestly, I don't think he
would want to mimic this. But one thing that he
can't mimic even if you tried, is peace, true, everlasting peace.
I mean, yes, people can take substances or drink alcohol
and feel numb or forget about their worries, but that's

(02:53):
not peace. That's not real, everlasting true peace. Peace comes
through Christ. Peace comes to the Holy Ghost who is
the comforter. Can you hear the dogs sniffing and breathing
heavy in the background. Sit down. It's a German shepherd.
She's very hairy. Feel like I have hair coming out
of my ears. Sorry for the TMI. I just feel

(03:14):
like there's hair everywhere. Anyway, You're like Kyra, I didn't
listen to your podcast to hear about the dog or hair.
I listened to know about peace, fair enough. So anyway,
have a father, and Jesus, Christ and the Holy Ghosts
are all authors of peace. And so I got a
whole bunch of scriptures together to share. The main thing

(03:35):
that I want to read to you today is Maroni
seven three. And the funny thing is that this is
the scripture I read today that reminded me of this podcast,
but I had already written it as scripture number one
in this note that I have for this episode, So
I thought that was cool. Maroni seven three says, wherefore
I would speak unto you that are of the Church,

(03:56):
that are the peaceable followers of Christ. And I've obtained
a sufficient hope by which he can enter into the
rest of the Lord from this time henceforth until you
shall rest with him in heaven. And I noticed something
today as I was reading that verse. Here Marona is
talking about entering into the rest of the Lord right now.

(04:19):
He isn't saying we have to wait until Heaven or
wait until a certain point. He is saying we can
enter into his rest quote from this time henceforth until
you shall rest with him in heaven close quote meaning
we can feel his rest now and all the way
every day until we reunite with him in heaven. I

(04:42):
love that. Isn't that amazing? The Book of Mormon is
saying that we can feel peace today. We don't have
to wait to feel peace. We can enter into his
rest today. Now. Of course, that's easier said than done.
And trust me, I have experienced the feeling of numbness.

(05:02):
I've experienced a feeling of heavy weight. I've experienced the
feelings of desperation and despair and devastation. So I get
it that feeling peace is not always easy. In fact,
most of the time it's not easy. But I do
know that it is possible. From a devotional by President
Nelson in twenty eighteen called Hope of Israel, he says,

(05:26):
when you know your life is being directed by God,
regardless of the challenges and disappointments that may and will come,
you will feel joy and peace. And in the Everlasting Covenant,
which was given in twenty twenty two, well that's not true.
Apparently this was given as a devotional to a whole

(05:49):
bunch of leaders of the church in a meeting with
President Nelson, and they all loved it so much that
they told him he should write it down, So then
it was posted in the Ensign or the Leahona or
something October twenty twenty two. Anyway, it's called the Everlasting Covenant,
and President Nelson says, loving God more than anyone or
anything else is the condition that brings true peace, comfort, confidence,

(06:15):
and joy. And Elder Neil A. Anderson says in a
talk called Wounded from October twenty eighteen. My brothers and sisters,
it is my promise to you that increasing your faith
in the Lord Jesus Christ will bring you added strength
and greater hope for you. The Righteous, the healer of

(06:37):
our souls, in his time and in his way, will
heal all your wounds. No injustice, no persecution, no trial,
no sadness, no heartache, no suffering. No wound however deep,
however wide, however painful, will be excluded from the comfort, peace,

(07:02):
and lasting hope of Him whose open arms and whose
wounded hands will welcome us back into his presence. At
that day, the Apostle John testifies the Righteous quote which
come out of great tribulation close quote will stand quote
arrayed in white robes before the throne of God. The

(07:24):
Lamb will dwell among us, and God shall wipe away
all tears from your eyes. Close quote. This day will come.
I so witness in the name of Jesus Christ. Aimen
and then Elder Kiron in April twenty twenty four, said,
the Father's plan is not about roadblocks. It never was,

(07:44):
it never will be. Are there things we need to do?
Commandments to keep aspects of our natures to change, yes,
but with his grace, those are within our reach, not
beyond our grasp. This is the good news. I am
unspeakably grateful for these simple truths. The Father's design, his plan,

(08:05):
his purpose, his intent, his wish, and his hope are
all to heal you, all to give you peace, all
to bring you and those you love home. Isn't that incredible?
I love these quotes so much, so, so, so much so.
The first scripture start off with other than Round I

(08:25):
seventy three, which I already read, is Exodus fourteen fourteen.
The Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold
your peace. Romans eight six. For to be carnally minded
is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
Isaiah fifty seven, eighteen through nineteen. I have seen his

(08:46):
ways and will heal him. I will lead him also
and restore comforts unto him and to his mourners. I
create the fruit of the lips, peace, peace to him
that is far off, and to him that is saith
the Lord, and I will heal him. Jeremiah thirty three six. Behold,

(09:07):
I will bring it health and cure, and I will
cure them and reveal unto them the abundance of peace
and truth Ezekiel thirty seven twenty six. Moreover, I will
make a covenant of peace with them. It shall be
an everlasting covenant with them. And I will place them
and multiply them, and will set my sanctuary in the

(09:29):
midst of them forevermore. John sixteen thirty three. These things
I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might
have peace. In the world, ye have tribulation, but be
of good cheer. I have overcome the world Mark five
thirty four. And he said, unto her daughter, thy faith

(09:50):
hath made the whole go in peace, and be whole
of thy plague Romans fourteen nineteen. Let us therefore fall
after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith
one may edify another. Third Nephi twenty two thirteen. And
all thy children shall be taught of the Lord, and

(10:11):
great shall be the peace of thy children. First Nephi
twenty eighteen. Oh that thou hadst hearkened to my commandments,
then had thy peace been as a river, and thy
righteousness as the waves of the sea Mosiah four three.
And it came to pass that after they had spoken
these words the spirit of the Lord came upon them,

(10:33):
and they were filled with joy, having received a remission
of their sins, and having peace of conscience because of
the exceeding faith which they had in Jesus Christ, who
should come according to the words which King Benjamin had
spoken unto them Mosiah twenty seven thirty six through thirty seven.
And thus they were instruments in the hands of God

(10:54):
in bringing many to the knowledge of the truth. Yea
to the knowledge of their redeemer, and howl blessed are they,
for they did publish peace, they did publish good tidings
of good and they did declare unto the people that
the Lord reigneth Alma seven twenty seven. And now I
would that ye shall be humble and be submissive and gentle,

(11:16):
easy to be entreated, full of patience and long suffering,
being temperate in all things, being diligent in keeping the
commandments of God at all times, asking for whatsoever things
ye stand in need, both spiritual and temporal, always returning
thanks unto God for whatsoever things ye do receive. And
see that ye have faith, hope, and charity, and then

(11:38):
ye will always abound in good works Alma forty twelve.
And it came to pass that the spirits of those
who are righteous are received into a state of happiness,
which is called paradise, a state of rest, a state
of peace, where they shall rest from all their troubles
and from all care and sorrow third ne Fy twenty

(11:59):
two ten. For the mountain shall depart, and the hills
shall be removed. But my kindness shall not depart from thee.
Neither shall the covenant of my peace be removed, say
the Lord that hath mercy on thee, one of my
personal favorites Revelation twenty one four. And God shall wipe
away all tears from their eyes, and there shall be

(12:19):
no more death, neither sorrow nor crying. Neither shall there
be any more pain, for the former things are passed away.
John fourteen twenty seven. Peace I leave with you my peace.
I give unto you, not as the world giveth. Give
iye unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither
let it be afraid. First Nephi twenty twenty two. There

(12:43):
is no peace, say the Lord unto the wicked. In
Maroni seven, it talks a lot about the fruit of
thy labors, and how good fruit comes from God, and
how evil fruit comes from the devil, and it just
furthers so reports that God is good. He is the

(13:04):
author of peace, and he wants us to feel comfort, rest, joy, contentment,
and feel of His mercy and love. I have a
testimony that when we turn to Christ, when we listen
to music that uplifts, when we think of Him, when

(13:24):
we pray to the Father in the name of Christ,
when we attend our meetings and go to church, when
we listen to uplifting podcasts or general conference talks, when
we share uplifting things with others, that we can find
true peace, and when we pray for comfort and love,

(13:46):
it will come. Maybe not immediately, but it will come.
And I have a testimony in that I promise you
that if you need more peace in your life, it
is out there. And it is through Jesus Christ that
you will find the rest that you were looking for
today and every day until we reunite with Him in heaven.

(14:07):
And I say these things in the name of I
send Jesus Christ. Amen, thank you so much for listening.
Don't forget to embrace the perfection, find meaning, satisfaction and
joy from the journey. I'm Kira, and this is imperfectly broken.
