Hi. I'm Barry Farber. Asthe author of fourteen business and inspirational books
and over thirty languages, I realizethat these books have so many positive messages
that I want to share them withthe younger generation. So I decided to
write and produce a children's book andanimated TV series, The Adventures of Little
(00:32):
Billy in Search of the Magic Tree. Even though I'm the father of three
grown children, I've learned so muchabout children's development at very early ages doing
my research for the book, andnow I want to share what I've learned
with you, the parents of youngchildren. In our new podcast, In
Search of the Magic Tree, We'regoing to explore how we can positively impact
(00:54):
the mind, the body, andthe spirits of our children. We will
unlock the secrets of how to raiseour kids with traits like patients, positive
attitudes, courage, empathy, anddetermination. Join me on this adventure.
As we talked to celebrities, athletes, entertainers, business leaders, educators,
(01:14):
brain surgeons, and more about themagic to building success at an early age.
You will hear from Shark Tanks, mister Wonderful Kevin O'Leary. Money is
a family member. It says atthe table every day with you. You
know, there's lots of great kidsbooks to talk about the ethic of family
and work, and so you haveto go find those and you know,
or convert them yourself. But Iwhen I my wife did a lot of
(01:38):
the reading, Star was traveling somuch. But we both were on the
same team about this. It wasalways about getting the kids to get involved
in whatever those tasks were. Rightat the beginning of the first winter,
when they were old enough to startsheveling snow, that was their job.
And so it would take them along time and they'd have to do the
front and back steps, and theyjust got into that. After snow they
(02:00):
knew what they were going to doand they got paid for it, and
it wasn't a question about it.They always did it. And I think
it's a culture. It's family culture. Four time Olympian Joetta Clark staym power
is important and the main thing withthe stampower is knowing your purpose and your
pope doesn't change for the situation andyour pope. It's the one thing that
(02:23):
allows you to never quit. Sowhen we're talking about stampower, we're talking
about understanding and realizing your popo andworld renowned neurosurgeon, doctor Mark McLaughlin.
You are the author of the dictionaryyou carry around, And I tell that
to my wrestlers all the time. What words are you putting in your dictionary?
(02:45):
If you're putting words like respect andcourage and wisdom and compassion and those
types of words, and you're talkingabout them and you're saying them, they
not only reveal your thoughts, theycreate your thoughts. So I'm a big
advocate of words and the choice ofwords and how they actually shape the way
(03:07):
we think. You know the oldWilliam James quote, I'm not whistling because
I'm happy. I'm happy because Iwhistle. It can cause you to feel
that way. And that's the beautyof reading is it stimulates your brain.
It puts words in vocabulary in yourbrain, and words become thoughts, become
(03:28):
action, and that's really what itcomes down to. You could find our
