In the Midwest Garden with Rob Zimmer on Whby is
brought to you by Care Patrol Local Senior Care Advisors.
Here's Rob with today's tip this week.

Speaker 2 (00:11):
On in the Midwest Garden. I'm talking about hostas, one
of the most popular perennials for gardeners across the United States.
Here in the Midwest, we have several reputable hosta growers,
as well as many nurseries and garden centers that sell
unique and unusual varieties. Today growing hostas by theme. That's right.
Many hosta gardeners enjoy collecting hostas that fit a certain theme.

(00:31):
This may be hostas that contain certain themes in their name,
in their appearance, in their size, or their coloration. Pasta
collections are available in many different themes and categories. Select
those that intrigue you, or begin your own collection featuring
a theme you choose. Here are a few examples. Hostas
with an angel theme are quite popular, especially when used
in memorial gardens. There are many hostas that contain the

(00:53):
name Angel, including many closely related but uniquely different varieties.
There is hosta Blue Angel, Guardian Angel, Fallen Angel, and others.
A fun hosta theme are those in the Guacamole group.
These are all wonderful, beautiful hostas that can take full sun.
Examples of pastas in this collection are guacamole, Holy Moly, Avocado,

(01:13):
tortilla chip.

Speaker 1 (01:14):
And more.

Speaker 2 (01:15):
The mouse Ears collection grows larger every year. These are
miniature hostas that may only grow six to eight inches across.
Blue mouse Ears is the one that started at all.
There is sun mouse in, brilliant yellow, Dancing mouse ears,
school mouse ears, mini skirt, and many others. There is
a Christmas theme collection of hostas available. Also look for
hosta Christmas Tree, Christmas candy the Night before Christmas, Christmas cookies,

(01:38):
and many others. Whatever your theme, you'll find hostas to
fit it. I'll have more on growing hostas in the
garden all this week on in the Midwest Garden.
