Speaker 1 (00:03):
When you hear the word giants, what comes to mind
Goliath standing before David, maybe g with a Greek miss
of towering beings, or something older, something rooted in scripture.

(00:23):
Today you're stepping into one of the most mysterious passages
in the Bible, Genesis six than Aphelium, the heroes of
the old men of Renown. Were they real? Were they

(00:48):
a myth? Or is the truth deeper than that? Stay
with me because this episode isn't just about giants. It's
about us and what their story says about the heart

(01:11):
of humanity. So let's open the word together. Let's get started. Okay,
Biblical accounts because they matter too, probably more than anybody else's.

(01:35):
Genesis six, chapters one through four says this, when human
beings began to increase in number on Earth and daughters
were born to them. The sons of God saw that

(01:56):
the daughters of humans were beautiful, and they married any
of them they chose. Then the Lord said, my spirit
will not be content with humans forever, for they are mortal.
Their days will be a hundred and twenty years. The

(02:21):
Nephelium were on the earth in those days, and also afterwards,
when the sons of God went to the daughters of
humans and had children by them. They were the heroes
of old men of renown, And it's one of those

(02:57):
passages that makes you stop. The Bible doesn't explain much here.
It just drops the mystery into the middle of Genesis
and then moves on. But there are other There are

(03:18):
a few others mentioned as well, numbers chapter thirty two,
verse thirty three. When the Spies return from canaan Uh,
they say, we saw the naphelium there. We seemed like
grasshoppers in our own eyes. And Ezekiel they reference thirty

(03:47):
chapter thirty two, twenty two and through verses twenty seven
as well a vision of fallen warriors buried with their
swords and shields in the underworld. That right there is

(04:09):
what really gets me, because.

Speaker 2 (04:14):
We question what it is to be an aphelium, and
then we give.

Speaker 1 (04:20):
Them the best way that we as humans know how
to break it down and understand the Greek mythology and
the Greek language. So I guess that's where they come
with the idea that they were speaking on the warriors
and anophelium here.

Speaker 2 (04:42):
For ezy Heel.

Speaker 1 (04:44):
But who were these beings and why does it matter.
For a century, the scholars and storytellers have wrestled with this.

(05:07):
What were the naphilium? You are a few views or
should I say, perspectives on what they feel as though
mattered as to what a naphelium would be. But I
think it's really simple. I think it's too simple. But

(05:28):
in their eyes, these are their views literal giants, physical
beings of an unusual size and strength, warriors which we've already.

Speaker 2 (05:40):
Touched bases on that. According to R. S.

Speaker 1 (05:43):
Hindle, the Hebrew phrase suggests that powerful fighters not necessarily
massive in size.

Speaker 2 (05:50):
So but R. S.

Speaker 1 (05:53):
Handle phraises this information as simple as if it's not
more difficult as to what a warrior meant in that time,
which we know what a warrior is, but the meaning
of what it is for them, for a naphelium is

(06:13):
I think the aspect got the perspective that I would
be looking for as to what a warrior would be
for them in our terms, for the three things that
come along with it will be human, divine, and to
me it would be their height. But that's too simple,

(06:35):
I'm thinking too simple. Fallen Ones the name may come
from the Hebrew verb to fall as the r Duik notes.
But as I stated earlier, these are so simple, too

(06:58):
simple to be the conclusion that they come up with
as to what aenophilium is.

Speaker 2 (07:08):
But as we move along.

Speaker 1 (07:13):
Then comes the separate stept to do it except to
do it.

Speaker 2 (07:18):
I can't say it. I don't think I'm saying that right.

Speaker 1 (07:20):
But step to do it gent except to it gint,
I'm just gonna mess it up.

Speaker 2 (07:27):
I'm just gonna keep messing it up. Woll this up?
To do it?

Speaker 1 (07:32):
I did it again the Greek translation of the Old Testament,
that's what that is. It changes to nephilium to the
giga the giga knights.

Speaker 2 (07:46):
I think that's how they say.

Speaker 1 (07:47):
That giga nazis, Giga nazis, I want to say, with
that type of pronunciation, which sounds like giants basically. But
in Greek, the giganazis weren't necessarily tall. They were beings

(08:07):
of cha rebellion against divine order. So whether you picture
towering figures or fierce warriors, the point is this, they
represent something powerful, something dangerous, something that crosses boundaries. That's

(08:32):
the bottom line. Then the folly war destroyed, So that's
where we need to focus our brain when we think
about a giant. And here's where the shift from history
to meaning, Because whether giants roam the earth or not,

(08:54):
why does God tell us this story? Is the question.
So this is where it gets deep to me because
the real question isn't whether giants walk the earth. It's

(09:16):
why this passage exists in God's word and what he
wants us to learn from it. Notice something, the Nephilium,
they were not became, They didn't arise out of nowhere.

(09:42):
They already existed alongside the sons of God. But look
at us, we chase evidence. We say where's the proof?
As if faith depends on archaeology or something. I don't
know where we get that from. But God's word is

(10:07):
not about proving history. It's about transforming hearts. We don't
question if Satan exists. We see evil at work every
single day, So why question giants because they aren't in
a museum. The question isn't in the ground, it's in

(10:36):
his word. You don't question if you're breathing because you
can't see the air. These are simple, but definitely a
deep reflection of thought. Why were they created? Why were

(11:02):
they destroyed? Here's the real challenge how do we keep
from sharing that same fate is the question, because the
Naphelim's fall wasn't about size, It's it was about sin.
It's about sin. They crossed boundaries, they corrupted what God

(11:26):
called good, and then God looked at humanity and said,
I am sorry that I have made them. Let that
subtle in for a moment, because that's a big that's

(11:47):
a big statement for God to say. Before we debate giants,
let's ask are we walking in the way that makes
God grieve.

Speaker 2 (12:04):
Or rejoice? That's the question that matters.

Speaker 1 (12:18):
Take a moment and think, what are the giants in
your own life? The things that look bigger than God
but really aren't. Write them down, name them, because every

(12:40):
giant falls when you stand in God's strength. Mine would
be my mental health, my physical health, everyday relationships with

(13:02):
God himself, family, friends, strangers, even the encounters that we
face on a daily basis that make us feel as
though what we're going through is bigger than life.

Speaker 2 (13:23):
We want to give them a name.

Speaker 1 (13:27):
Because we want to be able to challenge that in
the moment, give it some type of dominion for us,
because in the moment, sometimes we can't just face the truth.

(13:49):
But like I said, every giant falls when you stand
in God's strength. So give it a name, as you
would as if it was Satan. You give it a name,
you cast it out. So help me with my casting

(14:12):
as I give mine a name mental health, physical health,
my everyday relationship with Him, family and friends. I give
it strength to be not a battle within, but internal

(14:35):
strength within. Help me be a change that I'm looking for.
Help me be an afilion, help me be the giant within.
And that's the goal. To understand what an afilium was

(14:58):
is to remove the ego from what they were trying
to be more than God. I think that is the goal.
I think that's why he wanted us to know who
they were. Ego stands in our way each time we

(15:20):
move with a way of pride to prove something, not
in a way that we feel as so we need
to prove it to others or to ourselves.

Speaker 2 (15:34):
That's different.

Speaker 1 (15:37):
The goal there has a more genuine intention. But when
you move with pride and ego to boast with others,
being belittled in mind gives you another intent. We don't

(16:00):
want to be an aphelium when it comes down to ego,
as that leads to destruction. Why do giants still capture
our imagination? From Marvel superheroes to the mythological mythological creatures

(16:24):
like the Titans. We can't stop creating stories about beings
bigger than ourselves. And why is that? Because deep down
we crave greatness, We want to be more than human.

Speaker 2 (16:51):
But here's the warning.

Speaker 1 (16:54):
Just like the naphilium, our pursuit of greatness without God
leads to destruction. The giants teach us something power without
obedience leads to ruin. Let us sink in a little bit,

(17:20):
because most of us we lead with ego every day,
not thinking of the consequences that can result in so
much more than just in an everyday battle of chaos
or a challenge that we face because of the altercations
that we deal with because of our pride or our
ego is walking more in front of ourselves and rather

(17:43):
with us. Our fascination isn't just about size. It's about struggle,
our struggle with boundaries, ambition, and what happens when we
forget who we will go too. So let me ask

(18:07):
you were the napellium real? Were they symbolic or were
they something more? Share your thoughts with me on Instagram
at our page for ink and Impact podcasts, or you

preferably both, and also visit me on the website at ilinc.

there as well, and there should be a blog posts
on this one too in the lily Gate, so check
it out. Okay, I want your thoughts. I want you
guys to give me your opinions on your ideas of

(19:09):
what you feel as though is important to be an
aphelium or does it even matter who they were in
this time because everything that we do on a daily
basis is based off of humans in natural size. I
guess you can say, but you don't have to be

(19:34):
tall to do great things. And if you're ready to
bring order to your own world, check out ililean dot

(19:55):
the goal. Until next time, you guys, remember this, Every

see you on the next one.
