New Orleans jail break may have been an inside job.
Ten prisoners, several of them facing murder charges of escape
(01:24):
from a New Orleans jail and may have had help
from staff inside the facility. Authority say. The inmates are
thought to have fled around midnight and were discovered missing
during a head count at eight eight to thirty local
time at the New Orleans Parish Jail on Friday morning.
One of the ten has been recaptured. There's no way
for anyone to get out of the facility, according to
(01:46):
the sheriff, said without help. The Sheriff's office posted photos
showing how the inmates escaped, which included taunting messages apparently
left by the escapees. Too easy lol, one message read. One.
One inmate was apprehended in a New Orleans French quarter.
The other nine are considered armed and dangerous. Louisiana State
(02:07):
Police identified one escape be as Kendall Miles in central
New Orleans to facial recognition after he was filmed on
a surveillance camera. He tried to flee on foot before
being apprehended hiding underneath the car in a parking garage.
He was transported back to the Orleans Parish Jail and
is being rebooked at the facility for a new charge
of simple escape. The New Orleans Police Department has released
(02:27):
the names and photographs of the other escapees in a post. Initially,
he said eleven prisoners had escaped, and then revised it
down to ten. The sheriff said the inmates yanked the
sliding door from the jail cell off its tracks in
the early hours of Friday morning and midnight. They exited
the jail about a half hour later, after ripping a
toilet from the wall and breaking metal bars around a
(02:48):
hole in the wall that was used for piping. They
climbed down a wall ran across the highway. The Sheriff's
office released images of the hole in the wall, which
shows what the piping fixture looked like before the toilet
was ripped out. The photos note that there are clean
cuts on the metal bars, which facilitated their escape. The
photos show also messages scrawled and pen including too easy
(03:10):
LOL with an arrow pointing to the hole. It also
shows a smiley face with its tongue out. New Orleans
police chiefs said the prisoner escape was an urgent and
serious situation and encouraged the public to remain to report
any suspicious activity. Victims of some of the escapees have
been notified, adding that several are facing murder and other
violent charges. The FBI and US marshals have also joined
(03:31):
police in the search. Crazy story
