Speaker 1 (00:33):
Hello everybody, and welcome to a brand new episode of
If You Like That. Hey, It's just me, and this
is going to be a relatively short episode. I just
want to get something out there for today. It's been
a long freaking Saturday as it is, and I spent
some time doing absolutely nothing this morning, and then I've
had to record a couple of movie or some podcast

(00:56):
things for the Terrible Terror podcast back to back and
finally got to doing this one. So I'm sorry that
it wasn't live and that we're doing the but we'll
be back together next episode. It'll be the full cast. Basically,
the reason that Solas is out is because and he'll
explain it on the next episode. But the short, short
story of this is that they're doing a birthday party

(01:18):
for his grandmother out in the middle bum fuck nowhere
of California, and he had to drive like two and
a half to three hours to be out there to
do this, and he may not be back in the
area until really late tonight or even tomorrow. So we
had also some listeners suggest submitted Jesus Christ, I've been
talking for a while, so I can't fucking talk anymore.

(01:39):
Submitted requests. Some questions and stuff, and we're gonna do
those on the next episode, so you know, we have it,
we're gonna do it then. I'd rather do it with
Solas than with nobody else. And basically, there's just a
couple of things I want to talk about real fast. First.
The first thing is we went last weekend out to
Sinister Creature con out there in Sacramento, California, and it

(02:02):
was a lot of fun. I really enjoy going to
those things and seeing all the stuff that people do,
and had good conversations with some people. I had thought
about putting a little video together, but I'm just gonna
leave it alone. But we got some things. He got
to meet Daniel Harris and we'll talk a little more
about that. I got to meet Pinhead himself, Doug Bradley,
which was really fucking cool to do, and got a
picture and he got a picture with Daniel Harris and

(02:23):
everything like that. And we got some cool little things
for you know, a little knick knacks and crap for
the house. I actually got some popcorn, which was really weird,
but it looked really good and it tasted really fucking good.
So I really wish though that that place was more
in a like a bigger type of area, like the
Scottish Right Center out there in Sacramento is nice and

(02:45):
it's really cool, but it's really small for something like this,
and it just feels like you get like really cramped.
And even though we went Sunday and Saturday, it probably
was even more packed than it would be. I mean,
there's at least for when we were there, there were
a couple hundred people that were crammed in the small
ass space that was there. And as the day went
on and more and more people showed up and went inside,

(03:07):
it made it harder and harder to like get around
and to actually see stuff and to talk to people
and do those things. And I would love to do
a booth at that place for the Terrible Terror podcast.
I just don't know what I'd do, and I would
need a bunch of stuff to have it, and just
I guess talk to people about horror movies, whether I'm
recording something or having some people come by and talk

(03:30):
to them there, you know, do some things. I'd love
to do a panel, what I'd love to do. The
one thing that I really want to do one of
these days is actually do a showing of a movie
that people haven't seen in the theater a long time,
like rent out the theater here in Cash Valley. I
know it can be done, but there's a lot of
stuff that you have to do, and you have to
get the rights to show the movie, and that's really

(03:52):
fucking expensive, and at least with the job that I
have now, it's not financially viable to do something like that.
But I I don't know if you know, doing like
a Kickstarter or GoFundMe or some shit like that. To
be able to do that would be worthwhile if not otherwise,
you know, it would be something fun like to get
like Killer Clowns from outer Space and to show it

(04:14):
on the big screen. So one that I could see
on the big screen, and two that people that wanted
to see it and never got a chance to see
it on the big screen could go and see it
like a midnight movie or something like that. And I
know there's been tons of places to do, like the
Rocky or Picture Show thing, and they do some stuff
up there in Sacramento, which is really cool, but there
isn't anything down here for people to do. And I

(04:35):
know when you're starting these things you have to start
off small, but they're celebrating ten years up there, and
it's crazy to me that you don't actually get that
as well, Like they don't get a bigger area so
they can bring more guests and they can get more people.
I really wish they would do something more. I just
kind of do right, So I don't know. We'll see

(04:58):
what happens other things. We went and saw Dogma as well,
and I fucking loved that movie so much. I have
another story about a movie too that I'll tell in
just a moment. But we went out and saw Dogma,
and it's been forever since it's been in the theaters.
It's been in this turmoil of being captured by the
Weinstein Company, and it finally got released and Kevin Smith

(05:19):
finally got it back and now he's doing this whole thing,
so let's get a DVD replease, And it got a
theatrical release, and for me, I haven't seen it since
way back in the day when I went to this
Kevin Smith athon that they did in Santa Cruz, California,
where I went down there and we watched four Kevin
Smith movies back to back to back to back, right,

(05:41):
So they showed Clerks, Mal Rats, Chasing Amy, and the
Big Finish. Because it was the day that it was
going to be released. At midnight, they showed Dogma and
I remember being fine through both mal Rats and Chasing
Amy because those movies are both fucking hilarious for what
they are, but Chasing Amy made me fall sleep during
the middle of it, and then Dogma, like, I absolutely

(06:04):
love Dogma. It is I think Kevin Smith's best movie
that he's ever done. I think his dialogue is the
best he's ever done in any of the movies that's
there when it's not focused on Jay and sim Bob
because they're you know, are those types of characters that
are in that movie. I mean, you're gonna get what
you're gonna get when you get Jay and Sam Bob.
That's just what it's going to be. Jason Muse is

(06:26):
gonna Jason Muse, and I think Jason Muse is Jason
Muse in any role that he takes that isn't Jay, right,
He's always going to be Jay, and whereas Kevin Smith
has done other things and it isn't really Kevin Smith
in those roles, but it's few and far between. To
be honest with Kevin Smith, and I know Jason Muse
has done a bunch of other stuff that has been

(06:46):
out there, and some of the stuff's really really good,
and some of the stuff's kind of it is what
it is. But when it comes to Dogma, the writing
in general is just really smart. And it's one of
those movies where when you sit and you watch it
and you listen to the things that are being said
and you're just kind of like, this is shit people
complain about nowadays, and it's being done way back here

(07:10):
twenty something years ago in Dogma instead, and you really
like this movie, but you don't like this stuff that's
being said now. But movies have never fucking changed. That's
just the way that it is in my mind when
it goes through this stuff. So the other thing was
we were supposed to go on Tuesday to this premiere
showing thing that was going on. And when we went

(07:31):
to this, you know, the showing, so Patrick met us
there and then he thought that we were going to
gain right away, and we didn't. Right We had to
wait and movie was until seven. And you know, I understand,
you work a long day, you haven't eaten anything, You're
getting hungry and me. I came home and I eat
something because I got home a little earlier than he did,
so I wasn't hurting for food or anything like that.

(07:52):
But I can understand where he's coming from with all
that stuff, and so he and Crystal just left. They
just left, and I end up waiting. I'm like, okay,
I was in line. I'm like, if it doesn't move
by six point twenty, because the line just was not
fucking moving. And if you've ever been to the Rego
Hacienda theaters that are out there, it's a pretty big
theater for what it is. It's an older theater, but

(08:14):
it you know, it's pretty huge. It's one of the true,
one of the only true imaxes in the area for
what it is, right, and so it's got the big
Imax theater and it's got a bunch of other small
theaters on the side, and it was really popping back
in the day versus way most of the movie theaters
are now around here. There just isn't anybody that's really
going in them. Even though I really want to go

(08:35):
to the new Alamo Draft House in San Jose, just
because they themed it completely in Godzilla, which I think
is fucking cool. So I go out there and I wait.
In about six twenty, the line finally starts moving, but
it moves really slow, and I'm like, uh, where we are.
I don't know if I'm actually gonna get in this
thing with so many people because it's like first come,
first serve. And I also didn't realize that people were

(08:57):
just gonna camp outside for hours and hours and hours
on end. And they were like, well, it's a little
popular because it's a Disney movie, and I was like,
oh man, it's a Disney animated movie. I was just
told it was an animated movie. I thought it might
be fun just to see something, and then talking with
one of the guys in line who had seen it
before or been to one of these before. They do
it in a way so that you might be watching

(09:18):
storyboards and watching the movie and parts might be animated,
but maybe they're not in color, and it's just to
get a feel of the movie and get answered ask
questions so that they can maybe change directions in certain
things or tones or the way that they're doing certain
things in the movie. Does this movie actually work or
does it not work right? It's not a finished product
that you're going to see it's something that is going

(09:40):
to be, you know, maybe seen in a year or two.
That's the way that these things work. So I get
out there, I stand in line because it's moving. I'm like,
I'll stay, I'll see if I get in. If I don't,
I leave, it's only like, you know, it's only going
to be seven o'clock or whatever it is. I still
get home, still have time to do some other things
if I want to. So I get up there, and
finally I'm at the door to get into the whole place.

(10:03):
And when I get up to that door, then this
lady comes out and she starts cherry picking people from
the audience that she just like oh, and she's grabbing
specific types of people that she's bringing inside, and they're
bypassing the rest of the line. She's not going down
super far, but it's still fucked up that she's doing
this type of thing. And I was like, why are
you doing this shit? Like, just if you have space,

(10:26):
let these people in. And you know, most of us
have been waiting for more than an hour. And some
of the other people see if they're in front of me, whatever,
they're in front of me, they had a chance to
get in anyway, but if they're like thirty people behind me,
fuck you don't bring those people in. So I finally
go actually through the goddamn doors. When I get in
there and I get up right to the front, and

(10:47):
I had sent Crystal a message a little while before
where it was like, you know what, I bet you
they're gonna stop it right when I get to the front.
And then when there was four people in front of me,
that's when they're like, we're done, but there might still
be some seats open, so there's a chance that you'll
be able to see the movie, so just hold tight.
But if not, you're gonna get a voucher to go

(11:07):
see a free movie. Great, I'm gonna get a voucher
to go see a movie. At least I'll get something
like that. Well, they get the two people in front
of the people in front of me, and then they
look over at me and these other two and they
ask how many people are in your party? They say
two and I said one, and so they're like, okay,
hold on for a second. Then they bring me over.
So I'm all excited, Oh shit, I'm actually going to

(11:29):
get in. And I'm the last person that's going to
get in. So they give me a wristband. They take
me over to the whole area where it is. They
leave me down the movie theater. I get to this
like the treat table that they have there, and there's
all these bags of treats that are all lined up
out there, and I was like, great, I'm gonna get
a treat bag, so at least i get a little
something to munch on while I'm watching this movie. All

(11:50):
this stuff. Then the guy turns to me and says,
I'm terribly sorry, but we only have a space for them.
Oh so I got rejected, got the stupid little thing.
And then I found out with that stupid little thing,
the voucher, I had to use it that day. So
I had to get the movie ticket that day to
use within a week. And I just ended up saying
fuck it, gave it to somebody else, say hey, get

(12:11):
your guysself. If you know somebody else and wants to
go see a movie with you, get them a movie.
I'm just gonna go home, don't worry about it. And
then I left, came back and did a small stream
where I watched a lot of horror movie trailers and
it was a lot of fun, to be honest with you,
I was actually really enjoying that going through a bunch
of new trailers for stuff and just seeing what's coming
up and what's out there. If anything looks interesting, watch

(12:32):
the new Toxic Avenger trailer, watch a trailer for something
on TWOB that looked really cool. So that's that's about it,
and that's really all I want to talk about for
this episode. So we're not doing a whole lot, Bugs said,
Patrick will be back for the next episode. We're gonna
use some fan questions that I've come in with those things.
I know he yelled at Edo for the fact that
he got a switch to he bought two of them,

(12:55):
and then our friend Josh is also he's bought one
as well, and we're both just kind of shaking our
head because it's I'm not gonna buy him one. I'm
not gonna buy one. Then he goes and buys one anyway,
because he started getting I think fomo of the stuff
that he's seeing, and he's like, I really researched it,
and it's like, yeah, I get it, but is it
worth it right now? Is it worth it later? Maybe

(13:15):
if there's some like killer things that come out, it
might be worth it and eventually maybe I'll get one too.
And I've actually said to myself, if I see one
out in the wild that's just there, maybe I'll just
buy it and just be done with it. But I'm like,
I'm just really not super interested in doing that. So
that's it for this episode of The Bipy Life That podcast.

(13:36):
If you're not following the podcast anywhere, make sure that
you are. We're available on all social media's usually as

One where he's dreading where he has to eat Domino's pizza,
which I don't think Dominos is that bad anymore, but
it's still like not what he wants to do. He
just doesn't want to pay for it and have that

(14:20):
whole thing. But he also I bought him some like
dill popcorn that I was like, I need you do
a food review on this too, because he hasn't tried
