It's a new Pat's corner and this episode he's talking about public memories. What does that mean exactly? I have no clue, so you might as well listen and find out!

Speaker 1 (00:38):
What's up, everybody. Welcome back to another episode bonus episode
of the It Be Like That podcast. I know it's
been a minute since I had one of these, but
you know, shit happens, so quick update on co host
Brian he is and I let him tell the full
story when he gets back. We're on our episode. But

(01:01):
he right now is in the hospital. He had to
have surgery on his foot. I know he was talking
about his foot on the last episode, how it was
swollen and some of the stuff that happened with it.
But he finally went in and he's basically he's been
in the hospital since Thursday at the time of this recording,
so since the eighth I guess, And but I allow

(01:29):
him to tell the full story when he gets out.
But just giving that update and so on this little
episode here, I had a couple of things I was
thinking about talking about. It is Mother's Day, so I guess,
Happy Mother's Day. And when I say Happy Mother's Day,
I'm talking to people who already have their kids. If
you're pregnant, that don't count. You're not. You're not you

(01:49):
don't get to celebrate Mother's Day. Yet. That's in my opinion,
it's just saying that's fucked up. Whatever. I don't care.
I don't care. It's happy Mother's Day. But the main
thing I was talking about, one of these things I
was gonna talk about on this podcast is something I saw.
I think it was on TikTok, and I can understand

(02:10):
both sides of this, but I'm more on the guy
who they're trying to portray as the villain in this video.
And this is a real thing that happened. It's not
like a like one of the TikTok videos where it's
like a you could tell there's some kind of stupid
skit they're trying to do or whatever. But basically this video,

(02:32):
I think it was in It's in southern California, like
Van Eyes area in La Area, and I guess these
people painted. It was like on the boardwalk or whatever,
like right by the beach or walk by the ocean,
and these people all colored these rocks and as a

(02:54):
memorial thing. Now here's my situation. Okay, you want to
do something to represent a family member that's passed or whatever,
fine do it on your property. Okay, this is why
I side with the guy. The only thing I don't
I disagree with like if I saw it, If I
see it, it annoys me. But I'm it's whatever. This

(03:16):
guy was taking the rocks and chucking them in the ocean,
and this is where they everybody was having a heart attack.
Oh oh that colored death for my aunt and she
died of cancer. And it's like, so what, I'm sorry
you lost a family member. I'm sorry that. You know,
cancer is a bitch. I've lost family members of cancer. Uh.
But you know, at the same time, why is it

(03:39):
okay for you to and your usually decorate, but paint
a bunch of rocks in a public place where everybody's
supposed to be as an honor or whatever? Why do
I have to look at that? Or or Joe blow?
And I'm not just pointing myself out. Why does the
public have to look at something for someone that we
have no idea who they are or there's whatever happened

(03:59):
to him. This is for you. OK. So if that's
the case, then you need to do that on your
own property. Now, I'm not agreeing with the guy grabbing
the rocks and throwing him in the ocean or whatever.
You know, I'm not saying that that's right, because then
they then they try to blast him out by putting
his information out out there. This is where he is
thus ruin his business, like typical internet bullshit, but because

(04:23):
it's so hard to find another rock to paint. But
my thing is is, like I said, if you want
to do a memorial for someone, do it on your
own property, or even if you put up a memorial
like right where something happened, but then you take it

(04:47):
down and when you go to leave, like, okay, we're
here to celebrate it. We're all together. We had I
had a friend that passed from cancer. We were at
a camp, we were at a park, we got together,
we had a memorial thing up. But when everybody was done,
they took it down. It's not like you're just gonna
leave it there for everybody else. And like this might
sound rude, this might not sound nice, but let's face

(05:09):
the facts. Your memorial is just trash to someone else.
You're leaving your stuff there. You're leaving a bunch of
stuff there. You're trying to memorialize someone, and you're leaving
all your your stuff there that you think is important
or like a painted rock or whatever the case may be.
But to everybody else around you it's trash. It is
That's exactly what it is. You're leaving stuff an iore

(05:32):
or for everybody else not you know, we don't know
this person, We don't know that there's what they died
of or whatever. Fine, that's you know if you do.
But why should everybody else have to see this crap
because you leave it all out there. If you want
to do a memorial, do it inside your house or

(05:53):
do it on your property, and you can leave it
there all all day long, twenty four to seven sixty five,
whatever you know, the case may be. But why out
in a public place where everybody is out just trying
to live their lives, do their day to day shit.
Why shouldn't we have to be inconvenience with seeing isore
crap or or stuff like that. Like there's a on

(06:15):
mission in Carlos b I passed this all the time
for when I had to work. There's one like right
in the middle of the sidewalk, like when you cross
the street, there's like a little island in the in between.
They have this thing and it's gotten jacked up before
and someone came and took it and they put a
new one out there, and it's an isore, and it's
right in the walkway. You know, why, why should everybody
else be inconvenience because you had a loss. We all

(06:37):
have losses. We all lose somebody at some point that's
extremely important to us. But that's not everybody else's fault, issue, problem,
or whatever the case may be. So the rest of
us shouldn't have to be inconvenience just because you're going
through something, because at some point we all are gonna

(06:58):
do it. But it's all in a matter of you
know what I mean, Like, why should everybody else be
inconvenienced because I'm upset that someone passed away? Oh yeah,
let me color a bunch of rocks or put a
bunch of balloons and flowers and all this other crap
and this one spot in the middle of the sidewalk
where everybody needs to walk or drive by, or whatever
the case may be, because I'm upset, And then and

(07:20):
then play the victim like I'm I. You know, they
they should they should be catering everything to me because
so and so died or whatever the case may be. No,
that's not, that's not I'm not any more special than
anybody else. Everybody else who has to go through their
life and drives down. They don't want it to see
this ship. And to me, it is an isore. If

(07:41):
I'm going down to the pier or wherever the case
may be, and it's you know, everything's nice and clean.
Oh wait, now here we go, we turn the corner
and here's a bunch of painted ass ugly rocks and
all this other crap for memorial. You know, it's just
it's it's to me, it's just it's inconvenience. It is rude,

(08:03):
because there's plenty of ways for you to celebrate a life.
There's plenty ways for you to do them memorial then
then to trash up public areas and and and inconvenience
other people. And and then I can already hear someone saying,
who's to big you? It's just to painted rock, blah
blah blah. But like once again, it's it's it's not

(08:26):
I'm not gonna go out there and start doing shift
to inconvenience other people. So you, oh, big inconvenience, painted rock.
It's just it's not that you're missing the point if
that's how you think, because like I said, once again,
there's also then that gives it Okay, for the hell.
This is how I feel about Like when people do
garage sales and they put signs all over the fucking
uh telephone polls or the or the street lights and

(08:49):
all that crap, and then they leave them there. Like
if you have a garage sale and you don't think
you're signed down afterwards, you should be able to get
a ticket. Soone should go people if it's already over,
like okay, broad sale this weekend, but you know it's Friday, Saturday, Sunday,
whatever the dates, and then that following Monday or Tuesday,
that sign's still up, So you should not only someone

(09:12):
take that sign down and deliver it with a ticket
to the person at that house, because why why should
everybody else have to clean up your garbage your crap,
you know, And it might sound harsh saying your garbage
or your crap when I'm talking about a memorial, but
like at the end of the day, it's important to you,
it's not important to the rest of the millions of
people that live in this area. So you know, like

(09:36):
I said, that should be on your own property, in
your in your own house, no problem. Out in public
spaces no, And I'm not talking about you're having the
memorial and you're having a big thing up for that day.
As soon as you're done, you take it down and
you take it with you. You don't leave it for
other people to have to clean up, just like or

(09:57):
I'll be driving down eight eighty there's on tennis and
for the longest time, justice for whoever, And they would
always have this stupid sign up for some idiot I'm
pretty sure who did something dumb, and everybody else just
wants to blame everybody but the person who did the
stupid shit. I don't know this for a fact, so
but I'm just taking a wild guess is nine times
out of ten that's what it is. But like, what

(10:18):
do I care? Yeah, justice for for some asshole. I'm
gonna go run into the police department right now. So yeah,
we need to have justice for this person. No, get
your stupid sign and get the f out of here.
If you if you want to protest and you have
your little signs while you're standing there, fine, then you
take it with you. Don't just keep putting it to
where everybody has to see the stupid shit all the

(10:39):
damn time. That's just how I feel about it. I
mean your trash, you're or you're something that's important to
you is someone else's trash, period, and we and the
rest of the public shouldn't have to deal with it.
I shouldn't have to clean it up, shouldn't have to
you know, it shouldn't be an eyesore for the rest
of us just because it's important to you. Oh you know,
you know my no cancer, So no, I have to

(11:01):
have this purple rock all over the place in public places,
so you know about it, like we know cancers. There
we no cancer sucks. I don't know your aunt. I
don't care about your aunt. Sorry she died. But guess what,
I didn't know or thought about her one second before
I saw this stupid purple rock. And I'm not gonna
think about her again afterwards. So don't litter up my

(11:22):
public space, you know, the public's public space, because you
don't know how to deal with your fucking emotions. That's
all I'm saying. If you don't agree with me, you
don't agree with me, and that's fine. There's nothing there's
nothing wrong with you disagree with me. And like I said,
I'm not agreeing with the fact that the guy was
checking the rocks into the water, you know what I mean, Like,

(11:44):
I agree that they shouldn't be there. I agree they
shouldn't be left there. I don't agree that the guy
had to get involved that, but I mean, honestly he
should have if anything, you know, with you know, like, hey,
this to me is littering, blah blah blah. Get the
park ranger or the cops whatever. If that's why he
really felt that strongly about it. But still at the

(12:04):
end of the day, of course, righty, you go to
the comments, Oh, this is the guy's name, and here's
his business. Let's just litter his place with all these
rocks and d and it's just like that's the other thing.
It's just like everybody can't just like like I said,
where I would say I don't agree with it, but
I would just drive past it. I'm not gonna I'm
not gonna get myself involved in it. That's just the

(12:25):
same thing as like, oh, well, so and so we
don't like what he did, so let's just completely ruin
this guy's light livelihood. You know, you want to go
after this guy, but this guy could have a family,
but like, you know, let's make his kids starve to death,
so by ruining his business just because he threw a
couple of rocks that we can paint again into the water.
I said, I'm not defending the guy. I'm defending. What

(12:46):
I'm saying is about these situations. It's just so stupid,
so stupid. But anyways, all right, so once again, well
we'll see what happens. This is coming, actually this coming
arity I'm Brian. If Brian will probably be doing them
by himself, depending on what time, because I'm supposed to
be going to Great America. So we'll see what what

(13:08):
he does, if he does a live one, or if
I have to do another one of these, because like
I said, honestly, I would assume he's gonna be home
by next Saturday, but to be honest with you, I'm
not positive. So and I know he skipped an episode
of Terrible Terror Podcasts because he because because of this,
he couldn't record. I told me he should have just
said something to me, and I could have just watched

(13:29):
the movie and recorded something. It wouldn't be as long
or many many clips, but I still could have put
something enough for him. Jeezz. But I'm gonna end that
one here. Like I said, these are always quick episodes
and let me give you give me your thoughts. You know, uh,
I'm gonna put the plugs in right now. You can
give me your thoughts on this situation what I just

(13:52):
talked about. I would love to hear about it. We
could talk about it on the next podcast or the
podcast after when when when we're all back together, but
we can definitely to go over it, and those those
plugs are. You can email us at ib ib IBLT

Like I said, hit me back with that feedback and
until next time. As Brian always says, peace bitches everybody.

Speaker 2 (15:14):
It's Brian here real fast, and know this is mostly
Pat's thing that's going on here, but I just wanted
to throw in a quick update of what's going on.
So I did have surgery on Saturday morning on the foot,
and basically, to make a long story short, they had
to drain the foot. I'll explain it more and Corey
detail of what exactly went on when we do the

(15:34):
next podcast together or whenever that is, or maybe even
if I do another solo episode or something. It's Patrick
since the first I'm hearing about Great America from Patrick.
But I'm scheduled to have surgery again tomorrow, which will
be Monday morning, on the foot once again, just because
they need to do some final draining and then possibly

(15:55):
stitch and close it up because the wound is open
right now. So hope is that maybe a Tuesday Wednesday
I will be back back at home, and then I'll
be there until Saturday, well until the fall and Monday,
when I can finally go back to work with everything
that's going on. So that is the hope, that is
the prayers that have got going on. And if that's

(16:16):
the case, then I'll be back for some streams and
stuff like that. But other than that, got nothing else.
Not gonna touch on Patrick's topic because he did say
that he wanted to do it together, possibly next summer together.
So we'll figure it out, you guys, see you later.
And as Patrick said, I always say peace bitches in.

Speaker 3 (16:45):
My days up at the starline. Listeners as that goes
in my mind.

Speaker 4 (17:00):

the once love and no looking fall away back, nothing
