Happy Halloween, everyone!   For the first time (and in podcasting history), I will be entering the Pokémon world!

All thanks to my friend, Marcus J. Anthony (Elite MJ)!   Marcus has written a phenomenal fan fiction series, Pokémon: Next Generation. The series is set ten years after Ash Ketchum won the Pokémon World Championships.  Inspired by Ash Ketchum, Johto native Marc Masters is on his own journey in the home region of his hero.  Together with his friends Rachel and Anthony, they are currently traveling across Kanto with unique goals.  Along the way, Marc has won four gym badges from Forrest (Brock’s youngest brother), Rain (Misty’s cousin), Sgt. Sara (Lt. Surge’s daughter), and Skorcha (Blaine’s grandfather).

In addition to earning gym badges, Marc uncovered a threat that could destroy the Pokémon world: this threat’s name is Mew-Z.  This Pokémon is unlike any creature that inhabits this world; it is pure evil. This monstrosity was the brainchild of Team Rocket leader Giovanni and brought to life by the sinister Dr. Yung and Evice, using genes from Mew, Mewtwo, Zygarde, and unknown factors.  While it is powerful, Mew-Z has not reached its final form.    According to Looker, for Mew-Z to reach its full potential, it must absorb both Mew and Mewtwo in one hour. The creature has begun hunting down mythical and legendary Pokémon, as well as Zygarde cells, to boost its power. Both Jirachi and Tapu Koko have fallen victim to this monstrosity.  He is also growing a following and assisting him with his misdeeds are Evice and a mysterious, red-haired woman named Commander, who kidnapped both Ash Ketchum and Pikachu at the series’ beginning.

For the first time, Mew-Z broke its silence and is the guest on the 2025 Halloween episode. But how did I get to the Pokémon world? Did I survive my podcast conversation with Mew-Z? Listen to find out!

I want to thank Marcus J. Anthony for voicing Mew-Z and, most importantly, animating this whole episode. Also, shout out to Addison and Kohi for providing the voices of Commander and Evice, respectively.

Doctor Young had a want in him I could read

That pitiful star straight where it should not, wrong place,
wrong time, looking more than a mirror appetizer?

Speaker 3 (05:43):
Oh man, Commander, I would like to address this question
to you. Many many people of my world saw your
target and eventually kidnapped Attachem and his Pikachu. Why did
he kidnap him?

Speaker 2 (05:56):
Do you ensure that history does not repeat itself.

She is not of your concern.

Speaker 3 (06:08):
I am okay, I won't do that again. Many people
in my world know you're about your connection to Team
Rocket Leader Giovanni. Looker saw the Team Rocket Leader enter
a coma around the time you were born.

Speaker 1 (06:23):
That's fragile, man, It's not who he once was.

Speaker 3 (06:29):
I have a feeling we'll be talking about mister Giovanni
later that My primary concern is ash Petchen's family and friends.
You encountered five crucial women in his life, Missy may
Don iris N, his fiance Serena. What was your impression
of him?

Speaker 1 (06:48):
Those women were foolish to enter the place of my
thirt I destroyed it myself.

Speaker 3 (06:56):
Then why did destroy that base in the first place?

Speaker 1 (07:00):
That face is no longer of good use to me.
The whole world is my domain.

Speaker 3 (07:09):
It's not legendary and mythical Pokemon. In your targeting, you
took killed Tapo Coco, one of ash Ketcham's most prize
friends in cold Blood? Why did you choose that Tapu.

Speaker 1 (07:22):
Coco was the one who found me? But I took
extra pleasure in consuming it. That music, But there was
an interesting development that boy. There was something in his eyes.

(07:43):
That boy is Mark Masters.

Speaker 3 (07:47):
Mark has overcome significant obstacles in his life. He's won
four Cantonian Jim Badgers is raising strong Pokemon and held
his own against Ash Ketcham's farm.

Speaker 1 (08:01):
Don't you think I already know Dot? I see everything,
I see everyone. Dot Master's boy does not mean anything
to me?

Speaker 3 (08:20):
Then why did you bring him up?

Speaker 2 (08:22):
We are not talking about that boy.

Speaker 3 (08:26):
I touched a nerve with Mark Masters. Now let's circle
back to the person. My world care is about the
most you said when you met Ash's angels. They will
never find him? Where is Ash?

Speaker 1 (08:41):
Catcham? I welcomed you to my home with open arms,
and you ask me dot question.

Speaker 3 (08:52):
Music. I have been a journalist for nearly fifteen years.
Every journalist always asks the five ws in one ah, Who, what, where?

Speaker 1 (09:01):
When? Why?

Speaker 3 (09:02):
And how? You? My friend wanted me here to talk.
Let me do my job? Can you at least drop
a hint? I knew that things were going south once
I asked my question, and I know the great confidence

(09:22):
that my friends will.

Speaker 4 (09:26):
Pink at you.

Speaker 3 (09:27):
Charles are for relegator ride on Snorlos. I choose all

The Burden

The Burden

The Burden is a documentary series that takes listeners into the hidden places where justice is done (and undone). It dives deep into the lives of heroes and villains. And it focuses a spotlight on those who triumph even when the odds are against them. Season 5 - The Burden: Death & Deceit in Alliance On April Fools Day 1999, 26-year-old Yvonne Layne was found murdered in her Alliance, Ohio home. David Thorne, her ex-boyfriend and father of one of her children, was instantly a suspect. Another young man admitted to the murder, and David breathed a sigh of relief, until the confessed murderer fingered David; “He paid me to do it.” David was sentenced to life without parole. Two decades later, Pulitzer winner and podcast host, Maggie Freleng (Bone Valley Season 3: Graves County, Wrongful Conviction, Suave) launched a “live” investigation into David's conviction alongside Jason Baldwin (himself wrongfully convicted as a member of the West Memphis Three). Maggie had come to believe that the entire investigation of David was botched by the tiny local police department, or worse, covered up the real killer. Was Maggie correct? Was David’s claim of innocence credible? In Death and Deceit in Alliance, Maggie recounts the case that launched her career, and ultimately, “broke” her.” The results will shock the listener and reduce Maggie to tears and self-doubt. This is not your typical wrongful conviction story. In fact, it turns the genre on its head. It asks the question: What if our champions are foolish? Season 4 - The Burden: Get the Money and Run “Trying to murder my father, this was the thing that put me on the path.” That’s Joe Loya and that path was bank robbery. Bank, bank, bank, bank, bank. In season 4 of The Burden: Get the Money and Run, we hear from Joe who was once the most prolific bank robber in Southern California, and beyond. He used disguises, body doubles, proxies. He leaped over counters, grabbed the money and ran. Even as the FBI was closing in. It was a showdown between a daring bank robber, and a patient FBI agent. Joe was no ordinary bank robber. He was bright, articulate, charismatic, and driven by a dark rage that he summoned up at will. In seven episodes, Joe tells all: the what, the how… and the why. Including why he tried to murder his father. Season 3 - The Burden: Avenger Miriam Lewin is one of Argentina’s leading journalists today. At 19 years old, she was kidnapped off the streets of Buenos Aires for her political activism and thrown into a concentration camp. Thousands of her fellow inmates were executed, tossed alive from a cargo plane into the ocean. Miriam, along with a handful of others, will survive the camp. Then as a journalist, she will wage a decades long campaign to bring her tormentors to justice. Avenger is about one woman’s triumphant battle against unbelievable odds to survive torture, claim justice for the crimes done against her and others like her, and change the future of her country. Season 2 - The Burden: Empire on Blood Empire on Blood is set in the Bronx, NY, in the early 90s, when two young drug dealers ruled an intersection known as “The Corner on Blood.” The boss, Calvin Buari, lived large. He and a protege swore they would build an empire on blood. Then the relationship frayed and the protege accused Calvin of a double homicide which he claimed he didn’t do. But did he? Award-winning journalist Steve Fishman spent seven years to answer that question. This is the story of one man’s last chance to overturn his life sentence. He may prevail, but someone’s gotta pay. The Burden: Empire on Blood is the director’s cut of the true crime classic which reached #1 on the charts when it was first released half a dozen years ago. Season 1 - The Burden In the 1990s, Detective Louis N. Scarcella was legendary. In a city overrun by violent crime, he cracked the toughest cases and put away the worst criminals. “The Hulk” was his nickname. Then the story changed. Scarcella ran into a group of convicted murderers who all say they are innocent. They turned themselves into jailhouse-lawyers and in prison founded a lway firm. When they realized Scarcella helped put many of them away, they set their sights on taking him down. And with the help of a NY Times reporter they have a chance. For years, Scarcella insisted he did nothing wrong. But that’s all he’d say. Until we tracked Scarcella to a sauna in a Russian bathhouse, where he started to talk..and talk and talk. “The guilty have gone free,” he whispered. And then agreed to take us into the belly of the beast. Welcome to The Burden.
