Speaker 1 (00:20):
Hello everybody, and welcome back to episode ten of Jake's
AGT Take. I'm your host, Jacob Allu, you shared chief
content producer and writer at jigsick dot com pop culture
entertainment news website. If you listener to us on our
audience today, please give us a five star rating. This
(00:40):
was a big week for AGT as it was its
birthday party. So I'm in recap some of the entire
event for you and I'll give you my take and
what my thoughts on the special and what should be added,
and then of course we got to talk about my
next to watch for season twenty. But first make sure
(01:02):
that you are liking this bit, like like my social
media channels, and also make sure that you are subscribing
to my podcast. I really appreciate it. All right, let's
get started. So I loved how they were able to
get on the Pasadena Pacific Center convention stage. They had
(01:24):
the George to the aultorium that they had a montage
of posters from a g T all the AGTs and
I remember seeing and like instantly flashing the lines came up,
like I remember watching that season in that season, and
then I love the one with Howard with the Howard
years and the Peers and sharing years and it was great,
(01:44):
and then of course to Gabrielle and Julian upp Year
it was great, and also all the Heidi years after
and hiding so few years, so it was great seeing
all that. And they started off with a collaboration performance
called I the Tiger that featured the pack drum line
from twenty twenty two, last season's winner Richard Goodall, who
I'm so happy he did something with this season nineteen's
(02:08):
oh Host high School dancers, saxophonist Avery Dixon from season seventeen,
Sarah James from season seventeen, Billy and Emily England from
season twelve, and Alan Silva from season fifteen. I guys
say it was a strong opening, no complaints there, although
I do wish there are some of my more of
(02:28):
my favorite acts Maden onto the special, but we can
go on third the end. Then we were treated to
a quick sneak peek of Paul o'brady's Got Talent, the
pilot that started all back in England. We saw young,
very young Simon sitting next to Piers and friend Brighton,
who's a beat, who's a popular British television personality, and
(02:49):
then we get to the actual one with reages. In
season one, you saw some flashbacks from season four and
season ten, and all throughout those flashbacks you saw a
lot of some of the we're seeing acts over the years,
like Professor Splash and special Head. Oh my god, I
got like, I was like wow, what I was not
supposed to head and nothing but streams and superbo. Then
(03:11):
we have a segment dedicated to the Judge's first episodes,
so we had Howie's first episode in twenty ten. He
was with nanhost Nick Cannon Pearce and Sharon Osbourne with
Michael Gourdin season five. It was really cool seeing that
fifteen that I cannot believe it was fifteen years ago.
I remember being the summer my senior year of college,
(03:31):
so that was fun. And then we have Melbe's episode
first episode in twenty thirteen with the Triple Hs, the
Howard Sterns, the Heidi Glooms, and the Howie Mandel and
Howie Mandel and it was the Snake. Caitlin I remember
that being so like Scott smacked about that snake. Cander
and Simon joined the party in twenty sixteen and the
(03:53):
show did something I did not see coming. If you
go back and watch that episode when Simon and Watson,
I was warning Michael, I recognized my hair and my glasses.
I knew it was me. I cannot believe I made
it to the twentieth anniversary. It's just amazing to be
(04:14):
part of that special that came in. No was surpresident.
I don't know who's collected that re furnished, but I
want to say thank you so much. The agtku that
made a lot of They made me happy so much.
I'm so happy. And then how I shed how he
out on Twitter last night saying he's the longest running
judge and how we retweeted my tweet. So I was
like so happy about that. So it was really cool.
(04:36):
Then we finally got to Sophia's entrance during twenty twenty
and her tradition. The first time she hit her ax
was during Eileen Chases in season fifteen, and of course
we had had set Word make his multiple appearances. I
cannot believe they gave a section to set Word. Oh
my god. Then of course we have the most memorable
(04:56):
moment of Melby's cell phone charging and as there was
an awful duo. Yeah, the judges at time, Howard, Heidi,
howieb We're all trying to press the X and long behold.
Melby plugged the unplucked, plugged, plugged the xes and made
(05:16):
her phone charge. I still think that was hysterical. Then,
of course we have the audience being the fifth judge,
and we got to see how the audience in season
seventeen gave Ben Lapedis a number of chances and how
out of control it was when you singing his original
song I Always want my apartment, Sean, I don't want
(05:39):
to sing anymore. Bet you guys can find out on YouTube.
Then we got into mel these antics. I gotta say
that finale pre taped finale cat fight with Heidi when
they were wearing those insane outfits. I'm like, ladies, I
remember watching back saying, Ladies, that is the series finale.
(06:00):
Save it up for the future. And then we also
got her her how she got her singing sure Monk
lineup off the Shaine, and then finally we had her
iconic water fights with Simon Cow which I thought was amazing.
Then we got into a segment of hosts and judge
participation with the acts, so we saw Mel be and
(06:21):
tape face during the season eleven finale, we saw Sophia
pull a sword out of Brett ladder Mount's mouth and
protests during season fifteen. We saw Howie Mandel's infamous one
when Chris Jones hypnotized and made him shake Mel and
Heidi's hands back during the tenth of University season and
(06:42):
of course when the first incarnation of Deadly Games performed
during agt agg Champs season one. And of course we
had Terry Terry a tribute. We saw so many shortless
moments of Terry and also Terry being really grow with
the acts on stage and I and also I'd gotten
to say this, He's Terry's definitely one of the most
(07:02):
encouraging hosts in show history. And I got in trouble
with some of my friends, especially over AGT Time Pod
and AGT Commenter, about my love for Terry and saying
that he was the best host ever. Moving on, we
talked to a lot, they talked, the show talked about
memorable as they revealed Knigi from season eight of Who
(07:24):
Won It, then Light Balanced with Tara Banks School and
Buzzers back in season twelve, and then following that we
had light balanced kids. In season fourteen, we all saw
sky elements. There was also a portion regarding the international section,
including the Unbeatable and the Mayas. Both of them all
all incredible performers and I'm so glad they got their
(07:46):
dues there. We also talked about virality, especially social media virality,
and we had some these numbers I was just in
awe of, Like Johnny Manuel from season twelve, his audition
was at the three hundred and thirty million views, yet
Baby Dev's audition two hundred and twenty eight million views.
(08:07):
Courtney had wins audition in season thirteen four hundred and
fifty six million views, Shin Limb one hundred and forty
eight million, Shadow Ways three hundred and fifty two. They
also mentioned how the bot It Got started with Susan
Boyle's twenty nine, two thousand and nine BGG audition. Kind
of wished it got the got Talent numbers for that
because that must have been a clip that's been watching
(08:28):
numerous numerous times. And of course they revealed that Cody
Lee still has the record with five hundred and seventy
three millillion YouTube views after so after his season and
also gotta say this. I'm so glad Gabrielle even gave
her news. And I think every despite how you feel
about her as a judge, Gabrielle union to giving go
(08:52):
Cody Lee's a golden buzzer during season fourteen, cement her
place in show history. And I think that we that
all of us fans need to acknowledge her and what
she brought to AGT for that year. Moving on, we
to have stupid acts such as the human fountains and
the professional regurgitator, and I'm like, I needed more music acts.
(09:16):
Where was Barbara Badia? Where was Chapel Hard? They were
nowhere to be founded special except the ed for Barbara,
But like I needed something else besides the stupid human acts.
And then of course we have the Simon stuffs the
audition sentiment where we all know what happened when Simon.
When Simon stops the music, he's like, uh uh, you're good,
(09:37):
You're you need to do better. And sometimes they turn
out to be quite entertaining, so they use the overrated
and cocky Daniel Emmett, which I don't like. It might
despise him. I'd rather had a great friend to the
podcast Christina Ray from season fifteen, who has done Broadway
and off Broadway to come and represent that because she
(09:58):
was Her story is so incredible and still the Heini
clean golden buzzer moment still probably one of the best
emotional moments in show history. We also got to see
some revisiting first auditions in where Are There Now? So
the acts that were highlighted included Avery Dixon, Alan Silva,
Billy and Emily England, Grace Vanderwald, the Chabilwaukee's Cody Lee,
(10:21):
who was revealed that he's had some strong ties with
Special Olympics Lindsay Stirland Coruse. We had Matt Franco revealed
that Matt he has a theater in Vegas named after him.
I'm so glad to acknowledge Willisa new Are because she's
an SNL cast member and probably one of the longest
and I think probably the biggest jump from AGT to SNL,
which is a problem, which is amazing. We also have
(10:43):
mentioned a Delvie Choir and Richard Goodall and then Sarah
James and of course Terry Fader. I still say that
if Terry Fader did not audition or did not win
Season two way back in two thousand and seven, this
show would not be on the air right now, so
everyone owes a lot of gratitude to mister Terry Fader.
(11:08):
We also had a tribute to Howie, like when Simon
I loved hearing how Simon met him. And of course
we had the dancing Howie's when we had the dance
group dance dress up like him. Then we have him
breaking a world record with David Rush with all the
fist bumps, which perfectly subway into the world records because
we had not just had David Rush, we also had
(11:30):
Andrea from this season who broke the world record of
hula hooping on her but for a whole hour and
five five fifty minutes. I'm still in awe of that.
We also had Nick Manning can use it convinced an
entire HD audience to break a record of everyone wearing
underwear on their head. And also, of course we had
some failures, including Chris Ivan's failure with throwing plungers. Then
(11:56):
we had some of the pranks. Well, some of them
were memorable. Was Howie locking peers in his dressing room
kind of when she had him with Howie and those
fighting looking people in the same elevator as Peers that
still gave me a belly lap. Then we had Mystic
mel and then of course my all time favorite classic,
the Madame Tissod's Wax Museum, or Howie, Heidi and well
(12:19):
Be interacted as they interacted with guests. And then of
course we had Nick as a mime. And then of
course we had the infamous Sophia Virgara prank about Cappen
way back in twenty sixteen with the Luxor when Simon
Pranks brought you teamed up with Ryan Stock and amberlyn
(12:41):
if Seas from Seeds eleven to Camp two Week Havoc
and make Sofia think that she killed Simon. But we
also got to see the revenge, Sophia's revenge when they
were opening up the Luxor in Las Vegas. I still
wish I got a chance to see that show that
Sophia used the bust of Simon and made it look
(13:04):
like he was Simon Hyde instead of Simon Cot And
of course we have to have Simon's best one of
Simon's best pranks when he pranked Howie with a Sense
at Boulevard Billboard celebrating ten years of AGT back in
twenty nineteen, and we rounded up the episode with the
winner's montage. Here's some stuff that was like saying with
(13:26):
Kevin Skinner winning, I'm like, Barbara Badia should have had
that crown, and when he allotted dogs won him like
in season seven, I'm like, where's Tom? Justice for Tom
Potter and also for season it was there are some
really good moments and there were some emotional moments like
Rays Vanderwall winning. I'm like, I'm sorry, but friends to
(13:47):
the podcast the Clairvoyants should have won that on season eleven.
So oh well. Then of course we had happy birthday
messages from a lot of acts, including Pitt the Magic Dragon,
Darcy Lynn, Vladge Canichi, the Mayas, the Unbeatable, Cody Lee,
Sophie DSi, Daniel Mfa, Angelica Hale, Shan Limb doesnt Tavella,
(14:10):
which I was happy to see Anne Hans. So my take,
I gotta say it was a very fun special in
eight out of ten. What should have been included, I
got to say, was another mashup with music. Is one
of the biggest songs that's been seeing Sola Law on
the show is the prayer that have been perfect to
have Barbara Badilla, season four runner up, Perform all the
(14:33):
forte tenors there season eight who were finalist in season eight,
My dear friend Brandon James from season eight with the
top we made the top twelve during season eight, my
friends the Angel City Corral surrounding all of them during
this during this from they made the season thirteen, so
my finals in the course Christina Ray from the fifth
place from fifth place from the season fifteen. They should
(14:56):
also have done a tribute to acts who passed away
or from people who played a part in aged the
start of Agent. They should have had tributes to Regis
Silvin and Jerry's and Jerry's springer. Also Vivian Smallwood wrapping
Granny season three winner, Neil e Boyd, Grandma Lee, season
four finalists, Liz Agnes season six finalists, Night for of
(15:19):
course who participate in season sixteen and of course season
sixteen semi finalists to Beer Singh. All right, guys, we'll
take a break and we'll be right back for my
Acts to Watch. Hello, everyone, We're welcome and welcome back.
So since twenty eighteen, Jake's Take with Jacob Alisjar has
(15:39):
named its Acts to Watch, and since we've been doing
ax to watch. Five acts have won shin Limb way
back in season thirteen, Cody Lee in season nine, in
season in twenty nineteen when he was part of season fourteen,
and we had Dozen developed season sixteen in twenty twenty one,
the Mayas season seventeen for twenty twenty two, and Richard
(16:03):
Goodall last season twenty twenty four. So what's gonna happen
is with this is the season twenty acts I divided
up into Golden Buzzers and non Golden Buzzers. So let
me tell Let's start with the Golden Buzzers up. First,
We're gonna see Jordan Blue next week on Tuesday. He
is Howie Mindel's first go and Buzzer and if you
(16:23):
and as with this recording, his audition has been seen
over six point three million times on YouTube. I think
Jordan has one of the most memorable auditions and there's
a chance at all. Like with Richard last year, he
was one of the first acts and the first Golden
Buzzers to be featured and he made it all the
way to the end, I do think Jordan does have
(16:44):
a chance of being at the end as well. Moving on,
we have Live Wire. I love them. They're one of
the most unique acts I have seen in the past
few seasons. They've got sim mccowell's first Golden Buzzer week
one and their audition, and their audition received two million
views on YouTube. I really hope that these guys really
(17:05):
step to the plate because we haven't seen like a
collecting light show like that since Live Wire, and we're
not like get of dancers like wearing light suits since
since light Balance so in light Bounce kids. So I
think Live Wire is really really good. They're readly cutting edge,
and I really want them to make it to the end.
(17:28):
In Week two, we will see the Unreal Crew, which
got Howie's second Golalen Buzzer and they have one point
four million views on YouTube. The dance moves and providing
dance moves and con portion is absolutely I didn't see
that coming and still I cannot wait to see what
they do and with the rivals be unique it Also
(17:50):
in the quarter finals, I definitely think there's gonna make
that's definitely gonna be Iron Strifriend's Iron. I really hope
that these guys deliver a knock that Root team because
the thing is they could be one Golde Muzzer away
from getting into the finale. Moving on, we have the
main event, which I think is going to be Jessica
Sanchez performing Week three. Week three at the quarterfinals, and
(18:14):
she was Sofia's Golden Buzzer and her audition nine million
of YouTube views, the most of all the Golden Buzzers,
most views of all the Golden buzzers this year, and
I think Jessica has the momentum. I really think she
could pull this one off. A lot of fans of
reality TV new of Jessica's return to the on American
(18:40):
out of Run and how she was so close the
loss of Philip Phillips. I think a lot of those
fans have grown up and well, now that she's here,
she's a new mind. She's going to be a new mom.
I think this is the perfect time she could win
this season. I think it'd be perfect for her and
I think it be the ultimate comeback. And speaking of
letimate comebacks, was talk about one of my all time
(19:01):
favorite GOT Talent acts, the Massadi Brothers, who will also
be performing during Week three. They also perceived Melby's second
Golden Buzzer and as of this recording. They have over
one point six million YouTube views. Now I've now yes,
they are still doing There's There's You're You're still doing
your act with through going topless and while at the
(19:22):
same time, but instead of ham balancing, they are growing
nice at each other. Now. The thing is with the guys,
and I love them very much. They got so close
to Francis Got Talent. They've gotten so close, and Jeremy's
Got talent. They got so close, and Britain's Got talent.
But the thing is something happens when they when they
are like they're so close, but then they get no cigar.
(19:45):
I really hope and pray that the Massadi brothers find
find a way the lessons that they learn from britain
Scott talent, from Franciscot talent, and from Jeremy's Got Talent
and bring that into one thing so they can be
the be best and they could also be able to
tick down competition. And I really would and I think
seeing them as winners will finally mark a long chap,
(20:10):
a turning point in their long chapter of AGT. Finally,
the last golden buzzer act I want to talk about
are the Boykin sisters they received Terry Cruz's second Golden
Buzzer and they will be performing on a last week
of the quarterfinals. And as of this recording, they have
three point eight million views on YouTube. And I gotta
(20:31):
say this, Ever since Chapel Harp broke down the barrier
and broke the glass ceiling way back in season seventeen,
there have been some incredible country groups that have been
coming out of the woodwork, and I think the Boykins
could actually be to have some of the most memorable
formances of all season. And I would really But the
thing is, all I gotta say is they got to
(20:53):
pick song choices that connect with the audience, like you
could throw the cover there. But however, the thing is
if you throw the wrong song or the wrong original,
and you could they could find themselves in danger. But
I gotta say this, I would love to see the
Boykins get to the finals because the thing is, it'd
be great to see for them to do something that
Chapel Hart hasn't, which is have be AGT champions. Moving on,
(21:19):
we have the other acts. Now, these acts represent all
go all across the realms. So I gotta go out
with the first one from week We're going to start
with Week one with the Unique Crew. They are a
dance coup. There are a dance crew, and I gotta
say this, they were robbed of a group, an audience
school and buzzer at their auditions. I think at points
(21:42):
there were sometimes even better than there were than their rivals.
And I think that they could really have a chance
to win one of the live Golden Buzzers that's at
stake if they make at the quarterfinals and also as
during semi finals. So I've gotten say this, It'd be
fun to see that. It'd be fun to see them
(22:02):
in the finale and have two dance scripts from India
battled out for the top time. Moving on, we have,
of course, one of the most talked about Bravo Reality
TV alumnis mister Tom Standaville, formerly of vander Pump Rules
and The Traders. He and his band The Most Extras
are also performing on Week one. Now, a lot of
(22:24):
people may still have backlash root on Scandival, but I
gotta say this, I'm a Tom Standival fan and I
listen to and I think that he had and his
band could bring the energy that we need to the
Pasadena Civic Center auditorium and I would love a good comeback,
and Tom was nearly close to winning it on Traders
last earlier this year, so I think it'd be fun
(22:47):
to see him compete and get and get to last shows.
Moving on, we have Week two and one of my
favorites is Jean Malissimo the Juggling group. I gotta say
there's a potential act I could get an audience golden
buzzer or a group or a golden buzzer here. It's
that it's strongly similar probably one of the best unique
(23:08):
juggling groups of all time. They master the art of juggle,
of juggling along with multimedia, and they are going to
be so fun to watch if they correct perfectly execute
those routines, and I could see them be up for
a Golden buzzer in a quarterfinals or a semifols. Moving on,
(23:31):
we got Leo High School Choir. I still listen to that.
I still listen to their audition. I was born for this,
and that choir is probably one of the most powerful
youth choirs I have heard all of the years I
have watched. I put them up the same level as
Ndlov and Masanzi, So I guys say this bring they
(23:56):
are going to bring the fire. They're going to bring
some power, They're going to bring some of the Chicago
rough them. Yes, and they and if they get to
the lot, they could be dark horses. I could definitely.
I'm definitely gonna make a prediction dark horses. Running up
the week two, we have Mama Duke. Mama Duke's original
song Caught Fire on the Ice on the Apple Music charts.
(24:18):
I think this is and I think Mama Duke definitely
has as a character. I think she's ready for like
a Netflix development deal or a Peacock development deal at
some point, but I would love to but she always
puts the audience in good nude and I really hope
she continues to build upon her audition process because she
could really be a dark horse of the week. Moving
(24:43):
on to week three, we have Anna Serena, a prosper shooter.
She was formerly a Deadly Games and then the Left
and she and Alan v U and Albert I'm so sorry.
Albert'sa Silva divorced a couple of years ago, so this
is her second time on the live shows that so
(25:06):
I think Anna could be a really good can really
her auditions were absolutely incredible, and I think if she
plays her cards right and perfectly execute so stricks, a
golden butter could be waiting for her, or she could
be part of the fan vote that moves them all
the way to the semifinals and possibly into the live show.
(25:30):
Moving on, we have one another one of my favorite bands,
Garish and the Chronicles. Now this Indian band is absolutely epic.
Their cover of set Fire to the Rain from Adele
was absolutely fire. I really hope and pray that Gerrish
and the band pick out songs that the audience can
see along to and can actually make the rock out
(25:52):
because we need a rock outs, you know, Civic Center.
Moving on, and we have the mysterious Mastermind. There's not
a lot I want to matge this year. That kid
and mentals that can really that really grabs my attention. However,
I gotta say Mastermind is it's gonna be really interesting
how he plays this around and if he can do
(26:12):
something with live and span it in like least five minutes,
Otherwise he could crash be one of those crashouts speaking
and crashing out, we gotta talk about crash atoms. We're
on the final week of the quarterfinals and I love
their original music and harmonies. I definitely think Crash this
Canadian duo is definitely going places, and I think when
(26:37):
or lose Crash, Adams plus potential. Speaking out of potential,
we gotta talk about Jendai, one of the best acts
I have ever seen on a GT using lasers, and
I really hope and pray that jenda I actually gets
into get a Golden buzzer because the thing is he
(26:58):
could be the second coming of Kenichi. Moving on, we
have Team Recycled and they're one of my favorite dance scripts.
I love their auditions so much. The only problem is
that Melb did not. I really hope that the Team
Recycle steps up to the plate and really delivers an
(27:18):
audition that and delivers the performance that not only satisfies
MELLB sees them in the semi finals. Finally, rounding things up,
we have the TT Boys, one of the best acrobatic duos,
and I gotta say the t T Boys' energy reminds
me so gives me so much joy and their fire
(27:38):
and compassion for acabats and I could see them walking
away with this fit if they play their cards right.
So guys, justin heads up. Going forward, I'll be combining
both the performances and the and the results together in
one single episode. And also the letter grades will be back,
so that way you can I can tell you what
(28:01):
I thought about that these performances. Who I would have
buzzed or who else? What are you given the golden
buzzard to? And I'm very great excited to see who's
going to join, who is in the who might be
the front runner in the race to inherit Richard Goodall's
crown and sash. Now, guys, if you missed an episode
