Speaker 1 (00:00):
Jason at the Movies goes to the movies to review
them for you so you don't have to waste your
hard earned money every weekend, and this weekend is no different. Jason,
what's going on in theaters this weekend?

Speaker 2 (00:10):
Well, we've actually got quite a bit. Kicking it off
with Eddington has got It's a great cast. It's Walking Phoenix,
Pedro Pescal, Emma Stone, and this is about where Walking
Phoenix is a small town sheriff. He's going to run
from mayor against the current mayor, Pedro Bescal. It takes
place during twenty twenty, so it's COVID times and of

(00:32):
course you know all sorts of yeah, craziness takes off.
This is getting good reviews. But this director, Ari Astor,
I just can't stand him. And I know he has
a lot of fans, and so I know there are
people that are going to see this movie. This is Oreditary, Midsomar.
I just can't stand those movies. So this is not
anything I'm going to see. But it's two and a
half hours and it's getting pretty good reviews.

Speaker 1 (00:55):
Oh so maybe check it out. And Rihanna apparently is
going to be Smurfat in the new smurf movie.

Speaker 2 (01:00):
Wow, how did you know that? That's everywhere?

Speaker 1 (01:03):
That's all they talked.

Speaker 2 (01:04):
About every piece of marketing. They must have had her
contract that no matter what you do, the posters, the trailers,
the commercials, everything must say Rihanna is smurf fed. So
the new movie Smurfs, I mean, you know, you know
what this is about. It's an animated and you know,
smurfs get kidnapped and whatever. Listen, I've seen this movie.

(01:29):
It's smurfing terrible, Smurfing terrible. I love how you replaced it.

Speaker 1 (01:34):
Oh didn't didn't Katie Perry do smurfet in like one
of the last movies or something like that too, And like,
so was the same?

Speaker 2 (01:41):
Yeah, yeah, I think she did.

Speaker 1 (01:43):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:44):
So, I guess they always have to have a pop
star a smurf. Bet I don't know.

Speaker 1 (01:47):
Yeah, Well, there's the one movie that I know I've
been waiting to see and a lot of the cast
is coming back that didn't die and I know what
you did last summer, right, Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:56):
So this is sort of a reboot sequel because it's
really the same premise. These friends cause a deadly car
accident and then they cover it up and then uh, oh,
I know what you did last summer. But they find
out this has happened before. Enter Jennifer Love, Hewittt and
Freddie Prinz Junior. They come back and are in this
for more mayhem. You know, critics are not giving it

(02:20):
great reviews, but the audience is and this is one
that Hey, I like the original one, I'd like to
see this one too.

Speaker 1 (02:26):
Was the Gordon's Fisherman still the bad guy in a
new movie?

Speaker 2 (02:29):
Or no, well we can't give it away. We're not
going to give it any spoilers out.

Speaker 1 (02:34):
Well, that's why we do the reviews every week on
the iHeartRadio app. You can always check out Jason of
the Movie's podcast, whether it's streaming whatever. He's been there,
done that, and apparently the Smurf was smurfing terrible. So
enjoy the movies this weekend.

Speaker 2 (02:47):
Jason, Hey, you got it
