(01:38):
of Jeff Regan. The original airdate is made the twenty sixth, nineteen
fifty and the title is this mayhurt just a little My name's Regan.
I worked for Anthony Jay Lion DetectiveBureau. They call me the Lion's Eye.
(02:09):
Jeff Reagan, investigator, starring pauledAbove as Reagan with Frank Nelson his
Anthony J. Lion. So standby for mystery, suspense, and adventure
in tonight's transcribe the story This mayhurt just a little. It began with
(02:35):
a toothache, the Lion's toothache,and a dentist, a laughing dentist.
But before it wound up, therewas a girl in white, a couple
of patients with bad teeth, anda dead man. The dead man was
the one who never got to openhis mouth. It was around half past
Tuesday when I wandered into the Lion'soffice. Anthony Jay was sitting behind his
desk in his hands at towel anda couple of half melted cubes of ice.
(02:58):
He was taking the towel from aroundhis joy. Oh, hello,
Jeffrey, I've been waiting for you, tble Lion. This the tw only
ice cubes. No, no troubleat all. Yes, the toothache,
but it's gone now, Jeffrey. We got a client. Why, yes,
Jeffrey, just what I was goingto say, okay, out with
it. Well, you see,I was feeling under the weather. The
bi Cushman acting up again and sowell I I called it dead and that's
(03:20):
when the toothache began to get better. You no, no, in Faggett
was terrible. I was suffering thetortures of the damned well, Jeffrey.
I finally got in touch with hisman, doctor Beauregard. Already, yes,
Jeffrey, Jolly Charlie Beauregard us hecredit terms in no money down,
Jeffrey. Oh no, oh,Jeoffrey. Business hasn't been going well.
Remember our last fee turned out tobe stolen money. And then there was
(03:44):
the one. Okay, Lion, get on with it. You called Jolly
Charlie Beauregard, the friendly credit dentist, and he said, what well,
that's what's so remarkable, Jeffrey.When I said I was president too,
the Lion Detective Agency, he said, could I send a man right over?
And you said it was your toothyes, no, why should of
course doctor Buregard right away? Andhe said it was important, but he'd
(04:04):
rather not talk about it over thephone. It had something to do with
one hundred thousand dollars. That's whenyou got rid of your toothache. Oh
well, everythak of it. Onehundred thousand dollars to have a toothache when
a man is discussing something like thatis sacrely. Okay, I'll go see
Jolly Chollie Buregard. Yeah, jeffOne more thing, Jeffrey, were you
(04:28):
there open up a charge account, just in case the lion got out of
patent pencil and started calculating how manyteeth you could have filled for one hundred
thousand dollars. I headed for themain office of the Friendly Credit Dentist.
It was on Broadway, in thebuilding old before the invention of dental floss,
(04:50):
and Jolly Charlie had a suite onthe second floor. In case you
didn't catch the number in the buildingdirectory, five neon signs told you to
come right up and it wouldn't callj Nicol. The last neon sign showed
a smiling character waving what looked likeforceps with a word welcome clashing on and
off. I checked the gold inmy fillings and walked in. Don't you
(05:14):
deceeded further, doctor will be rightwith you. She was blond and soft
and smooth and slender, and shesmiled once a long lingering helped me make
up my mind for me smile, and the total effect was like a shot
of nova came between the eyes. She drifted out, and I sat down
and thought about it. I wasstill thinking about it ten minutes later when
she came back up. Do youhave an appointment? Say no, but
(05:36):
the doctor's expecting me. May Ihave your name to Jeff Fregan? And
may I ask who referred you toit with all those neon signs? Please,
I do need the information for myrecord. Tell him mister Lyon referred
me. He'll know mister Lyon likein Zoo, only with a why thanks
(05:58):
mister. Minutes after that, JollyCharlie himself came out, well, well,
well, well, mister Regan,do come right and I have everything
ready for you yet, sir.Just step this way. We'll get right
down to business after you. MisterRegan, Yeah, just sit right down
here. Mister Regan will only takethem just a minute. I don't even
worry about mister Regan. We usethe very latest method here coming my simple
(06:21):
thing here, Hey, doc,you got the wrong idea. Don't sit
still. This is going to hurt. Look, you may listen here,
you're noan. We have to takeevery proportion, don't we. We don't
want Miss King to know you arein a patient, do we? Of
(06:43):
course we don't. Every private detectivemust travel in a coach of secrecy.
I know this has got nothing todo with my team. Oh, I
know that, mister Egan, you'rethe lion's eye. I talk to your
boss only this morning. In fact, he called me. Isn't that a
coincidence? Of course it is.You always answer your own question. Now
here's the case. You're going tobe interested because very of course you are,
you seem mister Regan. I'm beingsued for one hundred thousand dollars and
(07:04):
that's a lot of money. Ofcourse it is. I mean, I
mean sure, this young man issuing me for damaging his mouth. He's
a singer. He claims he can'tsing anymore because some work I did it.
But he hasn't got a case.The countrary. He's got a wonderful
case, but they just can't affordto pay him one hundred thousand dollars.
(07:24):
Where do I fit in? Well, it's like this, I did do
some work. I'm a young man. But I don't think I did what
he says I did. Is thatclear? A couple of feeling a little
bridge work, cleaning job, butno extraction. It's no surgery. That's
the part that puzzles me. Goon, Charlie, that's all I'm stuck,
unless, of course, you visitthis young man and straighten them out
(07:45):
of a few things. Wait aminute, you want me to strong arm
for you. That is not exactly. I simply feel the young man is
lying about something, and I wantyou to get him to say so.
Strong guy, laughing boy, hireyourself a gunstle, not me, not
how this story can. Don't getexcited. I'm going to give you an
open field. You handle it theway anyway you're like, just talk to
this boy and see what he's upto. If you don't want to go
(08:07):
any further after that, just cometo me say so. No obligations.
Now, it's not fair enough,of course it is. What's his name,
Robert Warny lives in Hollywood. Ihave all the dad and my records,
and mister Wigan. For nearly talkingto this young man, I'll pay
a fee of one hundred dollars,A nice fee, of course it is.
Of course, even European robbery.Warner is an honest man. The
(08:28):
case clothes. I'll simply have tomake the best settlement I can. Can't
afford the bad publicity. Who understand, Yeah, I understand. I'll call
me when you get anything. Well, all, I wasn't bad at all.
Jolly jolly use the patient quick yourattention. Yeah, thanks doctor.
Just one more thing, mister Regan. Yes, you will be on time
(08:50):
for your next appointment. Good day, Robert Warner. The man who was
suing Jolly Charlie turned out to bejust Off Gower and Franklin big house sliced
up in the four apartments. Hiswas ground floor left and I rang one
(09:13):
answered, was curly haired, handsomeand wearing hornwrinnen glasses. Yes, Robert
Warner, that's correct. Who's callingme? I asked, Jeff Regan.
You got a minute. Excuse it'simportant, sir? It is doctor Beauregard
sent me. What Beauregard? You'dbetter wait a minute. I'm not his
lawyer. Better get up, Syreganin I'll sit down, Warner. We're
(09:37):
gonna talk, I said, sitdown. I hate to be difficult.
You're seeing Beauregard for one hundred thousand. You know that your voice, you
can't sing anymore because of him. You're here to make trouble. Ring here
for one reason, Warner. Ifyou're telling the truth, you're a rich
man. If not, you're introuble. It's that simple. What I
am telling the truth of Sygan myvoice. I I was a singer.
(10:03):
I had a career until until whattill I went to him at a cavity
my tooth. He treated me.He told me to come back again.
Like a fool. I listened tohim. I went back again again and
again. Then what I can't seeany more? Mister Reagan, don't you
realize what that means? That's mylife? Does stick to the story,
(10:24):
Warner? Oh, he said somethingabout the roof of my mouth being too
small. He performed an operation. That's all there was to it, except
for one thing. What's that Ipaid him two hundred dollars and dental bills
to destroy my voice? Take iteasy, warning, you got an attorney
handling the lawsuit for you, Like, yes, what's his name? It's
(10:48):
not important, doesn't matter. Isaid, what's his name? Laney?
He's in Hollywood. You're going tosee mister Reagan. Got any good reasons
why I shouldn't, Mister Reagan, that that's not always screen Doctor Borreguard has
done to me. Go on somethingmore, something, get to the point.
(11:11):
Cut out of my window. Lookacross the street. The truck man,
mister Regan, the man in thetruck. He's been there for a
week, ever since I brought thesuit against Jolly Cholly Buregard. Heavy sift,
muscular, about twenty eight, blackhair, thick face. Hell,
(11:31):
he's been watching me for a week. What else do you know about him?
I think I don't know anything. You've never spoken to him. Man,
that big mister Regan. You thinkI dare Okay, okay, I
want to control yourself. I'll talkto him. You'd be a fool.
Let me decide that. Don't goout. You don't know what he might
do. I left Robert Warner crouchedby the door and walked slowly across the
(11:52):
street toward the park truck. Thebig, muscle bound man didn't move from
behind the driver's seat. His eyesstayed focused on the apartment building. I
stopped by the side of the cab. Got a minute, I said,
if you got a minute. Goaway, you might get I strained watching
that window. Please be a niceguy. Go away. You don't want
(12:15):
to talk about it. No,between him and me and her, I
don't want to talk about it.You know. The kid inside sort of
I'm gonna get better acquainted. Hedid something to you. Look, miss
Sie, why are you asking meall these questions? And you see,
I'm busy and the citizen got aright to Parker's car. And look,
I ain't hurt nobody, but you'rethinking about it. Maybe you're right,
(12:41):
maybe I was, Maybe I'm wrong. See you. The man behind the
wheel of the truck didn't look back. He swung the thing around the corner,
and on the back was painted MillsLumberyard. I made a note of
that and got in my car.Next stop the law office of a man
(13:03):
named mccleaney, Hollywood. The signon the door said mccleaney, mccleaney,
mccleaney and Phipps. I found asecretary who told me the mccleany I wanted
was Howard, and he was busy. I said I was busy too,
and walked in. Secretary was right, Howard mccleaney was busy when I walked
(13:26):
in. He was just starting ona new case. Well, well,
come in, you're just in timefor the party. What party? Here's
a minor course here? Thanks, call me friend. What do you say?
My name's Regan for the starter? All right's good? I am Howard
Eddie's a woman chasing brother and Sam. He handled income taxes. What does
Phipps do? He's a reformed Martatian? What can I do for you?
(13:48):
Regan? Just how to talk withyour client? Robert Warner, the one
who's suing Jolly Cholly Beauregard for ahundred thousand case? What case? Maybe
I better warn you I'm working forthe dock, not his lawyer or a
detective. Reagan. Nothing you couldsay, it's spoil this one. It's
a beauty. It's that good.Huh, Regan, it's perfect. The
kid as the old man tied upninety ways. Now get there. He
(14:11):
goes to Jolly Cholly, He payscage. Warner's an honest guy with a
good voice and bad teeth. Warnerspends five visits with him. When he
comes out with a bad voice andgood teeth, What could be better?
That opened and shuts a whole Eventhe docs record. I had a man
get foot of SATs of everything,X rays, number of visits worked done,
all fits that couldn't have been easy. The blonde, Regan, the
(14:35):
blonde, the one old Dock's gotworking for him. My man slipped her
a ten spot and she worked overevery record in the place. Sweet kid,
that's all. Well, there's justa matter of waiting around for the
hunder grand who knows my client andI may get generous and settle for seventy
five thousand cage. Well, andI guess that takes her me. Sorry,
(14:58):
Regan, some bottles just come crackthat way. Thanks, Howard,
see your on't mention it, Reagan. I'll give you a call next time
there's a client looking for a fastervoar. I left, Howard mccleaney can
headed for the hall. The elevatorbuzzer was a big brass knob that didn't
bring any elevators. I watched whitelights, red lights flick on and off
(15:20):
and didn't get a tumble. That'show I happened to notice the door of
the broom closet slightly ajar. That'show I happened to see the tips of
three fingers sticking out and how Ihappened to move over to the door of
the broom closet and take a look. A man who fell against me hand
at my feet was big and burlyand dark haired. He was the truck
(15:45):
driver who'd been tailing Robert Warner dead. The Lion and I were hired to
check into one hundred thousand dollars lawsuitagainst Jolly Charlie Beauregard, the friendly credit
(16:10):
dentist. I met his blonde receptionist, then the kidder was suing him,
then a truck driver, then theattorney handling the case. The truck driver
was the one who wound up dead. I called Lieutenant Bowls at Hollywood Division
and waited for him to come keepme company with the corpse. He did
ten minutes later with three other men. He got the dusting potter and photographic
boys busy and listen to my story. Ten minutes after that they reported back
(16:33):
they had everything they needed except forone slight detail, no identification, no
wallet, no letters. Reak inwhat kind of a case did you bring
me out on? Whoever killed himalso took his wallet? Identify the dead
man and you identify the killer, simple Bowls reag in the optimist. Not
suppose you tell me what killed him. I gave you a lead, didn't
I The dead man was a truckdriver. Yeah, what about the lawyer
(16:56):
you mentioned mclaney. Even now,he's probably sitting in his office, let's
say, twenty five feet from thescene of the crime, sipping soda through
a straw, and I'm going togo have a talk with him. Good
idea, Bulls, He's probably gotan alibi. He said that truck driver
was Taylor mcclaney's client, the onesuing the dentist. Unless you're lying,
these people fit somewhere right, that'syour theory, Reagan. I don't like
(17:17):
your attitude today. I don't likeit at all. You stick around,
I'm not throwing you. I'll bein the lobby making a phone call.
If you want me, Lieutenant, just dial. That's the way it was
with Bulls, the friendly type.I headed down to the lobby of the
(17:37):
office building. An idea was buzzingaround somewhere in my head, and I
had to get it out. Myboss, Anthony Jay Lyon, was the
man to get it out with me. Lion, what's wrong with your fats?
O? Cusbridge? Every is botheringme again. Did you talk to
do bugards your thing? Lion?He did? He say, can arrange
(18:00):
an appointment shoe? Well, asa matter of fact, we didn't get
around it. Jify. No,me sitting in suffering the range of all
creation might too, the seething hotman of torture, Jeffrey, you must
do something at one time. There'sone in line ahead of you. I
checked with Beauregard. He was beingsued for one hundred thousand dollars. Then
I went to see the kid whowas suing him. Oh, spare me
(18:22):
the detail. Wait a minute, this is where you come in. There
was a truck driver tailing this kid, the one suing the dentist. I
found the truck driver in a closet, Lion. He's dead and he's luckier
than I am. Okay, okay, you'll get sympathy. But first you've
got a job to do. CallMills Lumberyard. That was the name of
the truck he was driving. Findout which truck driver is overdue. The
man we're trying to identify as heavyset, black hair, blue eyes,
(18:45):
deep voice, false teeth. Heweighs about two hundred and maybe five feet
ten, but that's a guess. You get that, Yes, Jeffrey,
I'm taking it out. Okay,I'll check back with you. Get that
truck driver's name very well. Justone thing? What's that? When I
passed on, Jeffrey, will youmake the necessary yet, busy lion,
(19:07):
you may have time to earn justone more fee, Like Bows had said,
somewhere there was a connection between thedead man and the hundred thousand dollars
lawsuit. Somehow the dead man waslinked to an attorney and a dentist.
There was just one catch. Thecops didn't know who he was or what
killed him. My client was thedentist, and I headed for his office
(19:30):
in a hurry. Oh did youhave another appointment this afternoon? This one's
had lived the doctor in well,Doctor Borrogart is busy with a patient.
But then if you don't mind waiting, perhaps we might squeeze you in.
You don't have to ask me twoye, how long have you worked here?
(19:52):
Miss um Ye? Louise King,I've been with a doctor almost six
months. Remember a patient name AbertWarner? Yes, yes I do.
He's the one who's suing the doctor, isn't he? He's the one tell
me, Louise, how many timesdid want to visit Beauregard. Well,
i'd I'd have to check the recordsfor that, mister Regan. I'm sure
(20:14):
they give a complete You mean therecords you're a loan to Warner's attorney so
he could photostat them. Play choirwith me, Louise Warners. A Tony
attorney told me his man got everyrecord he asked for. He had them
phote Odin returned them to the filesand cost him ten bucks. Mister Regan,
I didn't mean any sure, surethe ten bucks look good to you.
Ten bucks pays for enough evidence towin one hundred thousand dollar case as
(20:34):
a king. Oh well, it'smister Regan. Well, well, indeed
doesn't matter. I'm looking for. How's that the fold of my private office
just Ryan was for you, misterRegan. And now isn't that odd?
Anyone should phoone you here? All? Maybe not? Oh well, well
you can't find out unless yea answerthis way, mister Regan. I followed
(20:55):
Beauregard to the phone. Was thelion? He found out plenty for Mill's
lumberyard. The dead man's name wasJack Matson. He'd been working for him
less than a week. Originally camefrom a little town in New Mexico,
three Wells, population three hundred andsixty. But that wasn't all the Lion
had to say. Lieutenant Bows hadphoned him and said he wanted me down
at the Markue to identify the body. I hung up and called Bowls.
(21:18):
He gave me plenty to think about. The autopsy showed Jack Mattson, the
truck driver, had died of arsenicpoisoning. I hope it wasn't bad news,
mister Regan. In a way,Doc, it was the police.
Police. Oh there, no,no, no, They want us down
at the headquarters, all of us, all you and me and your assistant,
miss King. But for mister Regan, I have a patience waiting the
(21:40):
police. Doctor Beauregard, Yeah,Yestat and Thomas King to get hurt,
Yestery. Oh one more thing,Doc, why are you're doing that?
Do you mind if I look throughyour files? Five files? No,
nons, go go right ahead.Beauregard hurried off to the next room.
(22:03):
I heard him telling Louise King toget a coat. That gave me time
to dig through the doctor's files, his personal files. I found something and
checked it against a wall map ofthe USA. I needed one thing more.
It was a thick and official lookingbook, and I checked the index
in the back for the letter A. It fits every piece of it,
and I had the answer less thanhalf an hour later. Doc Beauregard and
(22:27):
Louise King, and I met LieutenantBows and the morgue. With him was
Howard mcclaney, the attorney, andRobert warned the complainant. It was a
nice group study, especially when youconsidered one of them was a murderer.
All right, call your people into identify a body. Man was murdered
less than two hours ago. Andit's my hunch. And one have you
(22:47):
if not all again? All thisman, Harry and Lieutenant him. Ok,
yeah, over there under that sheetis a dead man who first,
alright, alright, somebody got tostart it, you know, this man
(23:07):
step up and say so, takea look, make up your mind.
One by one they moved over tothe slab, looked grimaced, then moved
back quickly. Hurst, the lawyermcclaney, then the kid, Robert Warner.
He said it was the same guywho had been tailing him. That's
all. Then Louise King, thedeadest assistant. Then Jolly Charlie Beauregard.
(23:30):
Was the first time I had seenthe dock without a smile. Then Bulls
turned to me. Okay, NextI found him, remember Aco looked just
to be sure. Okay, wow, I know him? What tricks look.
(23:52):
His name is Jack Matson. Heworked the mill's lumberyard. He's from
a town in New Mexico. Threewords? Are you going? If you've
been lying? I found out afterhe was killed bows, And I kept
my mouth shut for one reason.Like what I saw The name of the
company the truck driver worked for.It was painted on the back of the
truck. One. I must haveseen that too, but he didn't say
anything. Oh no, I didn't, honest, I didn't see it.
You kept your mouth, Chuck warned, because you were into something, because
(24:14):
when the truck driver turned up dead, you knew you were in too deep.
A one hundred thousand dollars lawsuit againstJolly CHOLLI bora. That's nothing to
do with murder. Don't count onit, Warner. Jack Matson was killed
because of one hundred thousand dollars. He was killed because he found out the
lawsuit was a phony. That's fantastic, Regan, good at cases I've ever
seen lieutena. What's this all about? Alive mclenny. What's with this lawsuit?
(24:36):
Regan? I'll show you doc.You admit working on the kid Warner.
Yes, yes, I didn't,Reagan by, I'm sure I didn't
do the things he said. Idid. Accept that. Your record show
otherwise, your records show you didperform oral surgery, and you can't prove
you didn't. Your word against hisand the records. Oh yes, yes,
that's exactly it. Then suppose Itell you the records are phony,
docked it up fixed though. Everyjob you did on Warner was made to
(25:00):
look twice as complicated, made tolook that way with Warner's permission. No,
you're lying. I didn't kill thatman. I did. I didn't
say that, Warner. But youhave an idea who did our little girl
named Louise King. You can't provethat you're making charges. Have a little
patience, bows. Jack Matson wasfrom three Wells, New Mexico. Doctor
(25:22):
Beauregard's personal file show his employer,Louise King is from Tremble, New Mexico.
I checked that on a map inthe docks office, the two towns
or less than thirty miles apart. That doesn't prove anything. You've gone.
Jack Matson was Louise King's hometown boyfriend. When I talked to Matson in front
of Warner's house, he said it'sbetween him and me and her. It
didn't mean anything at the time. The her was Louise King. No,
(25:45):
I never heard of him before. He came to Los Angeles to see his
girl. He thought he was twotime again with Robert Warner, so he
tailed Warner and tumbled to her lawsuitsgimmick. When he decided to go to
Warner's attorney and tell him the truth, Louise King killed him. He's lying,
Lieutenant. You had access to Beauregardsupply of arsenic. It's used to
kill the nerves and the tooth.I checked that you knew how to use
a hypodermic. You tricked Matson intotalking to you in the broom closet.
(26:08):
You gave him the needle and tookhis wallet. If they couldn't identified me,
he'd never connect with you, andyou could go ahead with the lawsuit.
You and Warner plan. I didn'thave anything to do with it.
Mister Reagan, Oh, so ourcanary can warble again. Yeah, her
idea, all her idea. Shetold me she could fix the records.
All I'd have to do as quitsaying say my voice was rolling stop.
She said I'd get fifty thousand dollars. That way seemed so easy, easy.
(26:30):
It was perfect. If Jack Matson, a nice guy looking for his
girl, hadn't walked anywe Matson wasfool enough to be in love with Louis
Keene. Get away from the kid. You won't touch me. I won't
let your touch stop. She's gotthe hypodemic need come back here. That's
enough, lady. Oh, shetried to kill me. You see that.
(26:52):
She tried to kill me. Doc, you're okay, and she was
going to kill me with that needlealong on, No, Doc, not
you. She wasn't trying to fendherself against five men with a hypodermic needle.
She was trying to save the statethe cost of gas. Louise King
(27:14):
got up and went quietly. RobertWarner wasn't far behind her, but at
least he could come on seeing daylightsooner than she would. Doc beauregarden.
The attorney Howard mcclaney and I wentup to the dock's office for a drink.
Mccleaney left about six, but thedoc kept me cornered with stories of
bravery above and beyond the call ofdentistry until close to seven. That's when
the door to doc's private office burstopen. H So here you are,
(27:37):
you scound Anthony Jury and you dirtyrats. Hi Me waiting back at the
office alone with my aching by cusbandand you just sitting here. I might
have known you wouldn't do anything aboutmy tool. Doc. This is my
boss, Anthony Jay Lyon, LionDoc Borgar, the friendly credit dentist.
No money done. Pleased to meetyou, Miss Lyon. I've heard a
lot of nice things about your busyhush. I've been telling the doc how
(27:59):
you suffer. He's interested in yourcase. Really, jiffy, Really,
you told it an interesting case, isn't it? This line? Of course
it is, and I think Ihave just the thing that will cure it.
You have up here, Oh doctor, I'm in terrible shade. The
tooth has been bothering me all dayever since I phoned you this morning.
You don't know the agony I've beenthrough the old roaring lion. Doc's gonna
(28:21):
fix you up. Fine, justfine, he is good. I hope
that drill doesn't hurt too much.Looks wicked. Miss anything to get it
fixed? Yeah, open wide. That patient that was just carried out had
exactly the same thing wrong. Didn'the die? I don't care if he
was carried out. I've got tobe brave. I've got to get this
tooth outa he gets started. Doctor, it's killing me. Okay, hang
(28:44):
on, it's going to hurt.Wait a minute, doc. By the
way, lion, here's the doc'scheck for one hundred dollars. Oh,
let me see that jiffy, Ohmy one hundred beautiful plans. You will
come along, give me my boy. Let's get out of here. What

and stars Paul Dubob as Reagan, with Frank Nelson as Anthony J. Lyon.
Original music is by Dick Carnt.Jeff Rigan Investigator is transcribed each week
at the same time over CBS DickCutting speaking and inviting you to be with
us again for Morris Suspense, Mysteryand Adventure with Jeff Reagan Investigator. Welcome
(31:29):
back. Well, we have finallyplayed all of the Paul dubalv. Jeff
Reagan episodes, all seven of them. It only took us twelve years to
do it. One episode in twentyten, one episode in twenty seventeen,
one episode in twenty twenty one,and four episodes in twenty twenty two.
I think we can say that abig clue that there was something wrong with
(31:53):
the case against the dandes was thatthe opposing counsel paid a broad to get
access to records. And in lawsuits, you don't actually have to bribe people
to get documents. You give asubpoena and they're supposed to provide it.
Although I guess that cast doubt onthe dentist because it the episode made him
(32:20):
seem at first to be a bitof a shady operator, so it could
have been a situation in theory wherethey brought the dental secretary to prevent the
attorney from altering them. And weshould also stipulate that the story doesn't seem
to understand or care much about howlawsuits actually work, as the goal is
(32:44):
just to get the story told inthirty minutes, and that they managed to
do all right. Listener comments andfeedback now. Listener comments and feedback now,
and we turn to YouTube Dory rightsregarding the episode the Hollywood story,
the lion calling him Fats is outof line. Kill the organ, Well,
(33:07):
thanks for the comments. I thinkwe addressed the Fatso thing in a
recent episode. As for the organ, I actually liked the organ music on
this one. I've only cut theorgan music out of one series, and
that was The Avenger. And inthe case of The Avenger, that was
a syndicated series, and so theorgan music that was played it was just
(33:31):
phil for commercials to be inserted locallyand it was really bad and we got
I mean I got complaints for weekson end It's like, okay, well
this was not something people actually heardwhen it was broadcast they heard whatever local
commercial would have aired, So let'sjust go ahead and pull that out.
(33:52):
In this case, of course, the Jeff Reagan music was broadcast over CBS,
and this is actually the first complaintand it's the second to last episode,
so I think we'll just stand paton that. But thanks so much
for the comment, Dory. Andnow I want to go ahead and thank
