Hello listener Family. This episode originally was to be aimed towards the subject of generosity but the Lord led me into speaking about another significant topic. So rather more so, this episode will focus on what our relationships are like with God, ourselves, and then with others. It first begins with having an active relationship with and love for God, and He then teaches us how to love and care for ourselves properly, which then equips us to better know how to love others as we ought to. I pray this will bless all who may hear.

Speaker 1 (00:03):
Hey guys, this is Jess. I'm Jess in the Mess.
So it's really been a refreshing and wonderful day for me,
and I pray that everyone who's listening has had a
good day too. Or if you're listening to me and

(00:24):
it's morning time for you or a nighttime at any time,
I hope you're doing all right. So with this episode,
I wanted to talk about generosity, and we can first
begin with the question what does it mean to be generous?

(00:45):
So a generous person is someone who always does more
than what they have to do, And it's one of
my goals to strive to be a generous person every day,
to teach my kids to be generous, and to be

(01:08):
a blessing everywhere I go. And there was something that
one of my favorite teachers that I learned from. Her
name is Joyce Meyer, and I've talked about her on
previous episodes, but something that she's said in the past
has stuck with me, and it's try to leave a

(01:35):
room better than when you found it, if you and
that's what it is. That's what she says, maybe not
word for word, but it's something like that. And to
put it in other words, try to leave a person

(01:57):
feeling better or doing better than how you found them.
Be a blessing, search for the opportunity to be a
blessing to somebody. She also says that and those things
have really stuck with me, especially whenever it comes to

(02:21):
you know, serving one another and walking in love every day.
And I wanted to I wanted to read a couple
of verses that I wrote down. So the first one
will be Romans thirteen, verse nine. It's the ending of

(02:50):
verse nine and going into verse ten. So it says,
love your neighbor as yourself, loved no wrong to a neighbor.
Love therefore is the fulfillment of the law. So whenever
I read that verse, you know, we can start off

(03:14):
with the first sentence. It says love your neighbor as yourself.
And whenever I read that, I have to kind of
unpack it a little bit and say, well, how do
I feel about myself? Do I love myself? You know?
Not am I in love with myself? Because that would

(03:37):
be you know, just what self centeredness or conceded, you know,
like not not like that. But do I do I
love myself? Do I respect myself? Do I love what

(03:57):
God who God made me to be, even if I
am a work in progress, even if I am still
having some of the bad things worked out of me.
And you know, do I look at myself in a
positive light? What do I think of myself? How do

(04:20):
I talk to myself? Do I say good things about
myself to myself? And you know, I've heard it be said,
and it actually does say somewhere in the Bible that
whenever we speak evil towards ourself, or we don't like ourselves,

(04:45):
or we you know, insult ourselves, God considers that evil talk,
and it's safe to say that it's not pleasing or
it doesn't bring him joy. Whenever we are not liking ourselves,

(05:07):
and it doesn't give us joy either, you know. So
whenever I read that verse love your neighbor as yourself,
I first have to love myself and see myself the
way God sees me. And you know, personally, I'm not

(05:32):
quite there yet. You know, I'm still growing and learning
and healing and trying to view myself as this precious
finished product that God already sees me as because he
sees us the believer, He sees us like he sees

(05:55):
his son, his perfect sinless, pure holy son, and that's
how precious we are to God, that's how he sees us.
So yeah, personally, I am working on, you know, getting

(06:16):
to know myself more and loving myself more, taking care
of myself and making good decisions for my body and
my mind and my heart and my spirit. Trying to
be conscientious about what I'm feeding myself as far as

(06:39):
you know, what I'm watching or listening to, or who
I associate with, or you know, just whatever it may be,
because honestly, you know, it really does matter our circle
who were constantly or just days around that can definitely

(07:05):
impact us, our life, our walks with God, how we
see ourselves, because if we're surrounded by negative people and
measly small thinking people every day or even a small
portion of the time, it does affect us in negative ways.

(07:29):
But yes, going back to how I look at myself,
I just am working on giving myself a little bit
of what is it called TLC, a little tender love
and care. And it's really easy in this busy, fast,

(07:50):
noisy world to find yourself in the go go, go
go mode and never stopping or slowing down. So I
feel like we can start there. We can slow down
and even stop when we're able to and seek out God,

(08:18):
strive to be in his presence. And someone actually told
me one time, ask God what he thinks about you?
What do you think about me? God? And I have
actually frequently and recently been asking him that because I

(08:40):
want to know. I want to know what makes Jessica
special to him? What in me? The different qualities that
you have placed in me? You know, what about me
is it that you love and that I should love
as well? So you know, to be fair, I feel

(09:07):
like we all struggle with that a little bit, you know,
just doing a little bit of self awareness and how
is our relationship with ourselves? You know? And whenever we
are at a point to where we have a good

(09:29):
relationship with ourselves and with God, I feel like then
we can start seeing the value and other people as well.
Because if we see no value in ourselves and we
just believe that we are never going to amount to anything,

(09:50):
or we're not as good as them, or we don't
have what they have, we're focusing on that and believing
those lies, then we won't be able to properly love ourselves,
take care of ourselves or anybody else, and most importantly,

(10:11):
if our relationship with God isn't really there, if we're
not really you know, talking to him every day, how
can that relationship grow without conversation, Because with any relationship,
you have to have conversation in order to you know,

(10:35):
grow with somebody, You get to know them, get closer.
So it's really it's really difficult to grow with God
and get to know him whenever there's not much conversation there.
But once you are at a point to where your

(10:55):
relationship with God is good, your relationship with yourself will
be just as good. As you get closer to God
and begin to learn what he knows about you, you
begin to learn about yourself. You begin to learn to
love yourself more. The more that you fall in love

(11:18):
with God, and that naturally happens. He is, He's amazing
and the bestest friend that we could have. And continuing
on in Romans chapter thirteen, at the end of verse nine,

(11:39):
going into verse ten, I'll finish off the verse and
it says love does no wrong to a neighbor, And wow,
I've really experienced that, because whenever you are having pure

(12:01):
intentions in your heart, you love someone, you want to
help them, you want to be there for them and
serve them wherever the need is. You don't have it
in your heart to do them wrong, or be untruthful,
or be you betray them. And God is love and

(12:28):
there's no hate found in God or darkness or lie.
Love is good and love is God, and love does
no wrong. So if we children of God have Him
living inside of us and his love, as He gives
love to us and our hearts, we as the believers,

(12:52):
we automatically want to give that love away to others,
our neighbor, and caning on and finishing up this passage,
it says, love, therefore is the fulfillment of the law.
And you know that is the gospel. That is the

(13:14):
ministry of Christ is love. To love God with all
your heart, all your soul, all your strength, and to
love your neighbor just as you love yourself. So I
feel like you know, if you're like me, which we
are all the same. It first begins with how you

(13:39):
feel about yourself and how your relationship is right now
with God. If we can, if we can start there
and get to a place to where we are loving ourselves,

(14:01):
who God made us, how we look, how we you know,
treat people, how we treat ourselves. If we can get
to a good place there, then we'll be able to
treat others good too and spread that love. So I

(14:22):
am running out of time, and I had one more
thing to say. God really sees us all as precious,
so precious to him. And so with that being said,

(14:49):
he takes it very personally how we feel towards ourselfs
and how we treat others. Yes, I love you family,
Bye bye.
