A Embrapa desenvolveu uma nova variedade de pêssego, de colheita tardia, que promete atender a demanda pelo fruto nas festas de fim de ano: BRS Sarau. A variedade foi apresentada aos produtores recentemente no Congresso Brasileiro de Fruticultura em Pelotas (RS). Os produtores que se interessaram agora participam de um processo para dar início ao primeiro plantio comercial. O Brasil em média produz 240 mil toneladas de pêssego por ano. Essa variedade, além de suprir a demanda na época de festas, se mostrou bastante resistente a pragas e doenças.
