On this segment of Jump In with Jonathan today, I
want to talk about some things that is going on
(01:32):
in our churches today that you and I's believers cannot support.
There are things that is going on in our churches
today that bother me, that concerned me, that scare me.
As the pastor and as a religious leader. Today, you
(01:53):
and I's Christians we have a duty and responsibility to
search the scriptures to understand and the Word of God
for ourselves. And unfortunately, today as I look throughout the
church age that we are in, I am seeing a
lot of false teaching that is going on. And these
(02:17):
are some things that you and I as Christians cannot support.
Number One, today, we have people today that believe that
Jesus Christ is not the only way to heaven. They
have this idea that they can get to heaven based
off of their good works, their good deeds. They think
(02:38):
that they can get to heaven off of somebody's coat
tail or by joining a church, or by just being baptized.
The Bible says in John's Gospel, chapter number fourteen and
verse number six, Jesus said, not Jonathan, not you. But
Jesus said, I Am the Way, the Truth, and the Life.
(03:04):
You cannot get to heaven any other way, but by
accepting Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and savior. Your
good works won't get you to heaven. The Bible says,
there's none good, no, not one. Baptism will not get
(03:25):
you to heaven. Baptism is not salvation. Baptism is a
symbol of accepting Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and savior.
Some people say, well I'll get to heaven because I've
partaken of communion. No, friend, that will not get you
to heaven. If you study out the Lord's Supper and
(03:48):
what the Lord's Supper or communion represents, again, it is
a symbol that you and I must not forget about
the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Partaking of
communion will not get you into heaven. You say, well,
you know what, preacher, I'll just join the church and
(04:08):
that'll get me into heaven. I'll bypass God that way.
Listen going to church, shaking a preacher's hand, joining the
Church will not get you into heaven. You must enter
into heaven by accepting Jesus Christ as your personal Lord
and savior. Jesus Christ came into this world not to
(04:32):
condemn the world, but that the world notice this. Not
through church membership, not through communion, not through baptism, but
this world through him, Him being Jesus, might be saved,
you said, The Bible says, might, yeah, Because not every
man and woman, boy and girl will accept this free
(04:56):
gift of salvation. The Bible says in Ephesians chapter number two,
verse number eight nine four. By grace are you saved
through faith, and that not of yourselves. It is the
gift of God, not of words, lest any man should boast,
for we are His workmanship created in Christ Jesus. I
(05:16):
want to say this today, friend, that you will only
go to heaven if you accept the free gift of salvation.
You will only go to heaven if you call upon
the name of the Lord, the Bible says in Romans
chapter number ten and verse number thirteen. For whosoever shall
(05:37):
call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. Today, friend,
if you want to go to heaven, you must accept
Jesus Christ. As your personal lord and behavior. So the
false truth today that is being taught that Jesus Christ
is not the only way to heaven, we as Christians
(05:58):
cannot stand for that. Secondly, today, we as Christians cannot
biblically support legalism. Unfortunately, today we have made a bunch
of rules and a bunch of standards and a bunch
of bilaws, and if people don not follow that, then
(06:19):
they're not going to heaven. That's not true. I have
heard people say, well, women aren't going to heaven that
wear pants. Show me in the Bible where it says
that men ain't going to heaven if they have long hair,
it's not true. A few years ago I was in
a church and a preacher said that if you have
a red back Bible, you weren't going to heaven. There's
(06:41):
nowhere in the Bible that says that. Unfortunately, today we
have allowed legalism to enter into our churches and we
have put ourselves up on a pencil. Well, I'm more
holy than you because I don't wear shorts, or I'm
more holy than you because I don't do this, or
I don't do that, or because I only listen to
this style of gospel. Music, and I do this, said,
I do that. No friend that has nothing to do
(07:03):
with holiness. Holiness is going before God and say God
cleanse me. No my heart, God show me in my
heart what beliefs, what convictions that I need to have
as a Christian? And God, once you give me those,
it's not my duty and responsibility to shove my beliefs
(07:24):
and my convictions down someone else's throat. But it's my
duty and responsibility to live with those beliefs and with
those convictions that you have given me and my family. God.
Not everyone's going to agree with the convictions that you've
given me, but God, they're not for everybody else to live,
(07:46):
but they're for me to live. Today. Friend, we as Christians, unfortunately,
have made up all of these rules and resiculations. And
we said, well that person ain't say well, how do
you know they ain't saying, Well, they cust from time
to time. Well, then Peter must not have been saved.
Peter cursed, but Peter asked for forgiveness. Well, we know
(08:08):
that person ain't saved. How do you know that they're
not saved? Well they listen to country music. Oh really,
I can go and country music ain't godly. I could
agree with that in some extent. I love country music.
I listened to it daily. I'm not gonna lie about that,
And if you disagree with me on that, I'm sorry.
I listen to all varieties of music to actually be
(08:30):
honest with you. But when I think about that, just
because I listen to that style of music doesn't mean
that I'm not going to heaven. It doesn't mean that
I'm less of a Christian than you are. Because you
know what, there are things that in your life that
you struggle with that you're not as forward and honest
(08:51):
as I am about dealing with them. Now. I'm not
saying that it's okay to cuss. I'm not saying that
it's okay to do these things. I'm saying what you
have to do is get along with God and say,
God help me and God my life so that I
can be the Christian that you want me to be. God,
I'm not in this thing to make this a contest,
(09:17):
and that's what legalism is. Legalism has become a contest
of me being better than you. No. No, we're all
saved by the same grace. We'll all go to Heaven
through the same faith plus nothing minus nothing. Unfortunately, today
(09:39):
with legalism, it's slowly dying out, and it needs to
die out. We have people today that says, well, I
know you're not going to heaven. Well, how do you know,
because you've been divorced. I read the article this past
week and it was the dumbest article. And I'll be
the first to say, this is the dumbest article that
(10:01):
I've ever read that says that if you've been divorced,
you're not going to heaven. There was not one scripture
verse in that article that I read that supported that belief.
If your belief and your values are not biblically based,
(10:22):
then they're nothing more than your personal opinion. And unfortunately,
today and this leads me to my third point, we
as Christians cannot sup forward unbiblical teachings and preaching. We
(10:44):
have heard a lot of men get in the pulpits
and say things that have sounded good, but when you
study it out, it's not in the Bible. Very disappointed
(11:04):
with groups of preachers that I have, not all of them,
but some of them that I have preached for that
I have worked with, that I have set under their preaching.
Let me put it yeah that I've said under their preaching,
(11:27):
and I said amen to things that when I look back,
there was no Bible to support it. It sounded good,
it was loud everybody else's amening, but it wasn't right.
(11:49):
I don't care how soft spoken the preacher is. I
don't care how loud the preacher is at this point
in my life as a pastor, as a as a
men tour to the next generation coming up. I don't
care if you scream at the top of your lungs
when you preach. I don't care if your monotone when
(12:09):
you preach. I don't care if you stand behind the
bullpit the entire time or if you walk down the
ass the entire time. It doesn't bother me. But what
I'm going to do is I'm going to listen to
what you have to say, but I'm going to take
what you have to say, and I'm going to compare
(12:29):
it to the Word of God, and if what you
say does not line up with the Word of God,
then I'm going to disagree with you wholeheartedly. There are
a lot of people I get tickled at the people
come to me and said I believe this, or I
believe that, and I say, okay, can you show me
(12:54):
in the scripture where you believe that? Well? No, or
I get tickled it to people that will ask me
a question. They'll send me an email, ask me a
question and say, well, the Good Book says this, and
I say it does Where does it say that? Because
I've read my Bible many times over and it's nowhere
to be found in there. And I'm not saying that
(13:17):
to be mean, and I'm not saying that to be judgmental.
I'm not saying that to be cruel. By what I
am saying today is be careful what you go out
and say, I believe this, or I believe that, or
you should believe this, or you should believe that, but
you don't have no Bible evidence to back it up.
That's why in the Bible it says, let God be
(13:38):
true and every man be a liar. Because unfortunately today
and this up and coming generation of feel good preachers
or hell fire and brimstone preachers, whichever line you on
a jump on, I've seen on both sides of it
(14:00):
that you can preach a feel good message and be
biblically incorrect, and you can preach a hell fire and
brimstone message and be biblically incorrect. What we need to
do is get in the middle of the road and
not say I believe this, this is my opinion, because
you know, opinions are like armpits, and if you don't
(14:22):
apply the odorant, they'll stink. And unfortunately, today your beliefs
without biblical backing up stinks point blank. We cannot stand
as Christians for unscriptural teaching and preaching. You and I
(14:49):
today as Christians, must learn to study the Word of
God for ourselves. God gave us a man of God
to preach true to point you in the right direction.
But God gave you the Holy Spirit to lead you
and to guide you into all freed The Bible says,
(15:13):
so that faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the
word of God. Hearing the word of God is more
than hearing a preacher preach the word of God. I've
heard people say that a person can't get saved unless
the preacher preaches. That's not true. The Bible says, so
that faith cometh by hearing and hearing of the word
(15:34):
of God. The Holy Spirit speaks through the word of
God to the heart of man. And man can accept
Jesus Christ. God doesn't need me. God doesn't need you
to save somebody. God himself only needs his son, which
(15:54):
died on a cross so that you and I could
have life and have it abundantly. You and I today,
as Christians, must learn to stand on the word of God.
You and I, as Christians today, must learn to stand
on the promises of
