My dears, it’s Lady Jane here, your ever-watchful chronicler of royals and revelations, and I hardly know where to start—with all eyes, once again, on Catherine, the Princess of Wales, known to us mere mortals as Kate Middleton. There’s been positively a whirl of headlines about her this past week, and if you thought Windsor would be enjoying a lazy summer, think again!

First, the palace is abuzz because our gallant Prince William is dashing off to Switzerland for the Women’s Euro 2025 Final while, rather notably, Kate will not be going along for the ride. Apparently, William—as Patron of the Football Association—simply cannot resist cheering on the Lionesses as they chase glory in Basel, but this time, Catherine, the Princess of Wales, stays put in the UK. I can just picture it: the Band of the Grenadier Guards trumpeting “Three Lions” on the palace lawn, William brimming with pride, and Kate, ever the steady hand, holding the fort back home.

Speaking of home, it’s a swirl of parental nerves for Kate just now, as she prepares young Prince George for his next big step. Picture this: George, fresh off his twelfth birthday, being gently coaxed towards the looming gates of Eton College—yes, the very same that polished Prince William, Prince Harry, and even King Charles himself. Reports say Kate is “really sad and anxious” at the mere thought of sending her firstborn off to a boarding school so far from her watchful eye. And who could blame her? She’s been vigilantly strategizing, setting up small tasks for George to help him adapt—moving animal feed at Sandringham, for example—and, like any relatable mum, grappling with the great twenty-first century parenting conundrum: how on earth to regulate a child’s screen time.

And if you fancied a touch of mother-daughter camaraderie, you’re not alone! Kate made a rare public appearance with Princess Charlotte recently, and it was all anyone in England could talk about—chronicling every glance, every matching fashion detail. Why, even Kate’s wardrobe—skinny jeans paired with heels, if you please—is still setting trends, as if she doesn’t have enough royal duties on her plate.

So, as Prince William jets off to Basel, George nervously faces Eton, and Charlotte enjoys the limelight with her mum, all of Britain keeps watching Catherine, the Princess of Wales. Whether she’s behind palace gates or in the pages of the glossies, she remains ever the modern royal—gracefully juggling family, fashion, and those relentless rules of royalty. And Lady Jane, for one, simply can’t look away.
