Speaker 1 (00:00):
We are going to a game seven ladies and gentlemen. Wow, Wow, Wow,
James Johnson just got ejected from an NBA game. Everything
is going amazing right now. What a performance from the
Indiana Pacers.
Speaker 2 (00:11):
Man.
Speaker 1 (00:12):
These dudes will not go down without a fight. These
dudes will fight, fight, fight. They never say die. Whatever
you want to say about the Indiana Pacers, that's who
they are. A series that not a lot of people
expected to go the distance is going the distance. I
cannot wait for Sunday. Today's game was like one of
the greatest. Like I was thinking about it when they
were about twenty two, because it was like, they're about
(00:32):
twenty two. If they go out and close this game,
where would this game rank amongst their greatest playoff game
so far? Right, it's not gonna be number one, cause
I think that when you're down by eight points or
thirty seconds ago and you come back to win a game,
that's gonna be number one. But considering all of the circumstances,
considering all the stakes in this game, this gotta be
really high on the list. The YOKC Thunder had just
(00:53):
won the last two games of this series, one of
them you let go of the rope and Okase he
stole it in the next one ju p so goddamn
well that people were asking if he's Scottie Pippot like that,
what was going on in this series? And then not
only just that your star player, Tyre's Halliburton has a
cap string so bad that everybody's important that if this
was January, he wouldn't play tonight or tomorrow or next week,
(01:19):
you know, like he would be out for a significant
amount of time. All of that combined for not just
you to win this game, but to really put belt
to ass. Ben shepperd here to three, to go a bat,
thirty to going to the fourth quarter and that was it.
So final scorers won away to ninety one. But that
ain't really what it was, you know what I'm saying. Okay,
See's bench guys came in, got a little bit of momentum,
but it really was a real belta ass performance from
(01:41):
the Indiana Pacers. And this was just them taking care
of business on pretty much every single metric that you could.
The Indiana Pacers are not a team that you want
to let get out and run, and both of these
teams do an amazing job of running themselves, but also
preventing other teams running so much so that some of
these games, some of these teams have had two fast
(02:01):
break points, four fast break points. These are two of
the fastest paced teams and two teams they get out
the break the best and Nope.
Speaker 2 (02:07):
So far the series, it hasn't been the case. Today.
The Indiana Pacers won that twenty two to eleven.
Speaker 1 (02:12):
Part of that is because they just had the OKC
Thunder turn the ball over more than they pretty much
ever done all season long. I think this is their
second highest turnover game of the entire season. Of course,
turnovers in a lot of cases end up turning into
fast pack points. The three point battle, OK see just
struggle from three, which is something they've done forever. And
guess what Indiana had like a little magnet ball at
(02:34):
that little magnet ball over the Indiana Pacers, and I
thought that they did such a phenomenal job not allowing
the OKC Thunder to get into anything. I think the
defense is what's gonna stand out the most out of
anything that you could take away from game number six
because somebody said, I said the name I video this
after like game number three or game number four, but
(02:55):
the Indiana Pacers really out Okay seed, Okay, see, anytime
Shay got to the nail, or anytime Shae got to
the free throw line and wanted to spin and try
to figure out things out, they had people digging in
on him.
Speaker 2 (03:09):
And this was a horrible shape orformance. So we're gonna
get to that in the second.
Speaker 1 (03:11):
I think part of that is really because this Pacer
defense was really able to raise up the ante. I
got a text in the middle of this game from
a family friend that's not a huge NBA fan but
happened to be watching the finals stay or hockey person.
Hockey was over anyway, and they asked, and I don't
even know if I really have to answer this, but
I'm gonna answer it the way I answer him. How
(03:33):
can the team look better with their star player being
hobbled than they did when he wasn't. And the thing
that I explained, tried to explain to him, And again,
I don't even know if I truly believe this, but
damn it, somebody asked a question.
Speaker 2 (03:46):
I gave my opinion.
Speaker 1 (03:48):
Then, when your star player, any player for that matter,
an important player, goes out with an injury in the
middle of a basketball game, and I guess in game
of a five it was the beginning of a basketball game.
Speaker 2 (03:55):
Tried to play through it gave.
Speaker 1 (03:57):
Us his worst performance of the entire playoffs. I thought
he was amazing. Don't give a damn that he scored
fourteen only fourteen points and.
Speaker 2 (04:02):
They gave from him.
Speaker 1 (04:03):
Anyway, when a player goes out with an injury in
the midst of a game, you have no time to react,
in no time to adjust. You have to play the
game plan that you set up. So even though he's
hobbled and he can't do this, he can't do that. Damn,
we still gotta run our office to him because that's
what we know the best. But when you have this
happen and then you get three days in between games,
(04:26):
we can prepare ourselves as the Indiana Pacers to play
as if Tyr's Halliburton is hobbled, and I thought they
did a phenomenal job of that. I think they also,
like probably shot him up with the same stuff they
shot Jaylen Brunton up. Wh Jaylen Brusse rode his ankle
against the Pistons, bro Jaylor Brusseter ran down the damn
ran down the tunnel like Willis Reid and came out
and gave a banger. I feel like Halliburnon must have
(04:47):
been off the your digs and he was playing through it. It.
I ain't seen no hobble, no hop they was taping
him up on the sideline, but he looked great to
me today.
Speaker 2 (04:56):
I just I really love this.
Speaker 1 (04:57):
Pacer team because of the diplomatic offense like Pascal fourteen shots,
Obi Top and twelve tyres for twelve, TJ McConnell twelve
was we're gonna get the teas of Conna. This team
just plays by committee, so that if the fourteen to
five and two that Tarre's head doesn't really seem like
a lot. But the reason why I think it is
so It's not a special game, don't get me wrong,
but compared to some of the other games he's had
in the series, this one is great for a few
(05:19):
different reasons.
Speaker 2 (05:20):
I thought, again, we're gonna mention the defense at the
end of Pacers.
Speaker 1 (05:23):
His anticipation on the defensive side of the ball was
so amazing.
Speaker 2 (05:27):
You think about him being out.
Speaker 1 (05:29):
There with a hobbled leg and YadA YadA YadA, opposing
team try to attack you.
Speaker 2 (05:32):
As much as they can.
Speaker 1 (05:33):
I thought he held his own some of the plays
that he made defensively lad to them having this twenty
two point fast break. And one of the plays that
he made might be the play of the entire postseason,
for the entire finals, depending on what happened in Game seven,
when he throws the signature of Tarrey's halibird no look,
but he said no look for a split second, just
no look long enough for nobody or for you to
(05:54):
get your Instagram picture. But like to Pascal Siyaka boom
on Jalen Williams, so I thought he played well on
both sides of the four today, but not only that
that he had been struggling to shoot, not even just
just this series. I think he went into this game
shooting like thirty two percent from three, which is not
a Halliburn thing. He's been pretty much a career forty
(06:16):
percent three point shooter. He had three threes tonight, And
if he can hold some of that three point shooter
for game of A seven, this again series that has
been super unpredictable, might even get even more unpredictable. So
shout out to Tyres Halliburton, TJ mcconnor. T J McConnell
is a one of one type of player. You know,
people were trying to figure out on Twitter, like who
(06:37):
does he remind you of a guy that comes off
the bench, a short point guard to come off the
bench and can impact the game as much as he
does at his size, And I ain't got no answer.
He really truly is a one to one because pretty
much every single home game they had, he's come in
and giving them performances, either if it was the ten
to five and five game, the five steals that he
had with the three inbound steals, or the last game
(06:57):
which I wish you would have played a little bit more.
He has been amazing and I hope that one day
they retire that jersey, they give him his own day
for holiday. Not todaydamn it, this is our day, but
he gets another day on the calendar for his own
personal holiday in Indiana because he has been that important
to the team for a team that sometimes has like
(07:18):
not enough energy. He can just check in and be like,
I'm TJ McConnell on thedotyse things and he's breaking down
all defensive caliber defenders. Bro. It makes no sense to
me the man has thirty nast dribbles a game where
he's breaking down his defender and getting underneath the basket
to figure out what's gonna happen next, and he's so
good at his six foot jumper.
Speaker 2 (07:37):
What Mark you said about Teach McConnell.
Speaker 1 (07:38):
None of this stuff is new, but the fact that
it's happened on the NBA Final stage against a team
that was the best defensive team of all time.
Speaker 2 (07:46):
It's really impressive.
Speaker 1 (07:48):
There's so many great performances tonight that, like this box
score is not gonna stand out. Pascal Siakam's sixteen, thirteen
and three don't tell a story of Pascal Siakam, who
has been an amazing defender all season long. I thought, tonight,
again everybody raked it up, but like Pascal, tonight was elite.
I thought this was just like a loud defensive performance
(08:11):
even though he only had one stock today, a loud
defensive Pascal Siaka performance, and that you needed that man
nim Har. He's been tasked all series along with Garden Shade,
so I've given him the pass on like the inefficiencies
offensively on him not being able to find his offensive
touch tonight, they needed him to find the offensive touch,
(08:31):
considering Tyres Halliburton was gonna be hobbled, and he hit
those two threes in the first court, and I'm like, yup,
he'll be okay, this is gonna be a good offensive
game for me. Ended up with seventeen points and Nobi
Toapic comes in his two threes in his first thing, Like,
they just had everybody play well. And I don't even
really know what happened in the fourth quarter because it
didn't matter. Ben Schwery hit that three to go about
(08:53):
thirty going into the fourth and then aj mitricheck to
the game. I said, yup, it's tame for me to
start looking through my notes to figure out what the
hell I want to talk about. First, James Johnson got ejected.
Who would have thought the game basketball is such a
great thing? But yeah, they played such an amazing game
back against the wall. Okay, See, turning the ball over
this many times is so surprising me. Again, I'm tipping
(09:15):
the cap because the Pacers defense was so amazing recognizing
what's at stake for them, because if you lose tonight,
the goddamn season is over. And this whole legendary Cinderella
run ends to nothing, and those Cinderella runs usually end
to nothing but a great story. They don't want that
to be them. They want to be the rare Cinderella
run that actually ends up getting the prints. How's I
(09:36):
don't remember the story of Cinderella, but you get what
I'm saying. They didn't want to lose tonight.
Speaker 2 (09:40):
Oka se played so uncharacteristic that it kind of scares me. Again,
we're going into a game seven.
Speaker 1 (09:46):
It's gonna be an okay, See, they rarely lose their
I'm sure they're gonna be heavy favorite for Game seven,
and they probably should be. But dare I say it
felt like the lights were maybe a little bit too
bright for this young team tonight because that pacer, that
pace of crowd, like legitimate one of one man.
Speaker 2 (10:04):
They up about.
Speaker 1 (10:05):
Twenty eight points in the third quarter and you look
into the crowd and they it's still not a single
body sitting down. They're chatting, oh be top, like one
of one crowd. I felt as though maybe life's a
little bit too great. I don't know what percentage said
is them or percentage of just the Pacers having the
(10:26):
better will tonight and the better defensive scheme and the
better everything tonight.
Speaker 2 (10:31):
But it was so bad.
Speaker 1 (10:31):
This is one of the sloppiest shade games you'll ever see,
ever see. And I thought that he tried to force
the issue maybe a little bit more than what I
would have wanted. Part of that is probably nobody else
could score on the team, and it's like, I gotta
do this. With some of the turnovers that he had, again,
it's them just diving in on him when he turns
his back, you know, trying to create for himself for
YadA yad yadam third quarter. One of the possessions that
(10:54):
he had early third quarter, I'm like, bro, who's space jammed?
Hey gives Alexander today when he gets into the paint
and you know, Shay, he got a couple different options
when he get two feet in, it's go straight up
for la, it's playing to some contract. I try to
get it and one is faded in the way. Amazing
at all three of those things. Try to maybe overcompensate
because he jumped up into the air six feet away
(11:17):
from the basket and tried to dump it down to
a six to three Cason Wallace, who's under the basket
with Moles turning right on his back.
Speaker 2 (11:24):
What that ain't shay, I'm man caseon.
Speaker 1 (11:28):
Wallace dropped the ball so goddamn fast dropped the ball
like I ain't even supposed to be here right now?
Why are you passing me the ball? And yeah, they
just played a sloppy, sloppy game. It's another one of
them Chet Homger games. Bro this okay, this great defensive team. Okay,
see is not a great defensive team, an legendarily great defensive.
Speaker 2 (11:50):
Team if Chet Holmer is not on the floor. All
the numbers say that, the eye test say that's so
on and so forth.
Speaker 1 (11:54):
But the offense for Chat has been so atrocious that
it's like.
Speaker 2 (11:59):
Like it's make I don't care who wins these games.
I am like pulling my hair out.
Speaker 1 (12:04):
Luckily, for check the other center of Vis Turner play
Damnar just as bad. So it's like I for an eye,
I guess, But man, this Chat offensive game. He get
one of the first buckets of the game and Doris
Burger's like, that's just seven foot YadA YadA making that play.
He didn't even play this season because of that hip injury.
And I really do think that hip injury is preventing
him from having the same reps as some of these
(12:25):
other people in the series. But boy, when it's bad
for Chat, it looks really really bad. And I thought
tonight was one of those Knights where it looked really
really bad. They lost a turnover battle, they lost the
fast break battle, they lost a second chance battle. They
won the points in the painter. Shout out to them
for that, but it's that's kind of what they do.
They're not a great three point shoot team, and they
ended up with thirty may threes. Let me figure out
(12:45):
where it was before first quarter, The win a six
second quarter, the oh five, third quarter, the two of nine,
and they took ten threes in the fourth where it
didn't matter. So they that's one of my biggest complaints
about Okay, see, if I have any it's that a
lot of the times they don't start to try to
get the threes up until the back against the wall,
and by that time it's a little bit to a
lay game. These other teams they fire. Let me let
(13:08):
me see what Indiana pacey, and they end up hitting
fifteen threes. First quarter, they attempted fourteenth. They took the
fourteenth threes in the first quarter. I don't even need
to see the rest. They took the fourteen threes in
the first quarter. Man, it's gonna be hard to catch
up with those things, especially if oka See has the
magnet ball, which is something it felt like they had tonight.
Speaker 2 (13:24):
What a great performance from the Pacers.
Speaker 1 (13:27):
One of the things that you know, if you read
through the articles of the super super smart NBA minds
that are writing right now, or you listen to the
really smart people, they were talking about how Okac has
been taking advantage of the Indiana Pacers bat starting their
offense so very high, started.
Speaker 2 (13:42):
With a pick and roll from Shaye to get them down.
Speaker 1 (13:44):
He'll spread the defense out and you're kind of at
the mercy of Shay at that moment in time, and
you have to count if you're okay see on Shade
making the right decision, and he had been doing it
at least in the last game. Today, the Pacers didn't
allow them to do that. And I can't wait to
rewatch some of these possessions, but at least in real time,
it didn't fit like Okac was really able to do
what they did in these last couple of games. One
(14:04):
of my biggest complaints outside of the three point shooting
when it comes to Oka, see is that man, this
can just get ball watching. Like, I know that they're
running a lot of sets outside of timeouts, you know,
aots and you know, sideline out of bounds, basedline out
of bounds a lot of times to end up getting
good looks. I know, I said Joe ended up getting
a three. I don't know if he made it, but
(14:24):
outside of a timeout. Also, coach Mark waited so very
long to call the time out in that second quarter
when things were avalanche either way, but in just their
normal half court offense. I wish I had the capabilities
to do the Google not the Googles, but I had
like second spectrum. What I can see what percentage of
the Thunders offense tonight was organized versus freelance? If I
(14:48):
had to guess, at least if we can discount the
fourth quarter, If I had to guess, I would guess
it was eighty five fifteen just straight up freelancing and
eyes on shade, Shay, save us Shay do this, and
it didn't allow for them to have a great game.
So we're going to Game seven. I cannot be more excited.
I feel like I feel like I'm may be missing
(15:10):
some notes here.
Speaker 2 (15:14):
No, I'm done. I'll see yall. Game seven
