Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hey, man, I have no idea how he is able
to do it every single time in a game with
Tyris Halliburn didn't look like his normal self, he still
walks out as the hero.
Speaker 2 (00:12):
Game winning shot.
Speaker 1 (00:13):
Now in the first round, in the second round, in
the conference finals, and now in the NBA Finals. Are
we being serious?
Speaker 2 (00:23):
This is one of the.
Speaker 1 (00:23):
Most peculiar individual runs you'll ever see, because if you
ask yourself, oh, who's had the clutches run in NBA history?
Right in the postseason run, you're usually gonna talk about
guys this average of twenty five or thirty at night.
This man just had a game where he had what
fourteen point I don't even know what the final box
score was, fourteen or so points and still got the
ball in his hands.
Speaker 2 (00:44):
I'm watching and they get the rebound right, and I'm.
Speaker 1 (00:48):
Like, Okay, Rick Carlos is probably gonna call time outs
Tarver's Halliburn is struggling to get the ball up the court.
But no, Rick understands that he's got the clutches player
in the league on this thing, because damn it, I
don't know how we can say otherwise at this point.
If a player does not miss game winning and game
TI in shots. How can he not be the clutchest
player in the league.
Speaker 2 (01:05):
I have to go to the basement. I went to
baseb like Kenny Wine.
Speaker 1 (01:08):
I got these stacks and stacks and stacks of jerseys
back here. I've had my goat feet on the back
of this chair for like two years now, Ladies and gentlemen,
after game number one in the playoffs or the finals, a.
Speaker 2 (01:22):
Series that everybody said, what's it gonna be? Good?
Speaker 1 (01:24):

Speaker 2 (02:27):
I won't lie.
Speaker 1 (02:29):
They don't look as good as the links Jersey, but
for today's video, you gotta show the love, you gotta
show the respect to Hallie. This game is very interesting.
We saw very early on that coach Mark decided to
go with Caseon Wallace in the lineup instead of Isaiah Hartenstein.
And you know, if you watch this game, the turnovers
that the Pacers had in this one, it just felt like,
(02:51):
you know, the most smothering defense of all time was
the most smothering, smothering defense of all time. But the
one silver lining of it all something I even tweeted about.
Even with them turning the ball over nineteen times in
the first half, it only equated to nine points off
turnovers for.
Speaker 2 (03:06):
The OKAC Thunder. That is a blessing.
Speaker 1 (03:08):
And part of that is the OKC Thunder regenerating good
looks in these turnovers and weren't making them. But also
the Indiana Pacers played phenomenal transition defense all game loan.
They completely gave up on any opportunity to grab a
bunch of offensive rebounds. They decided that we need to get
back just like this team, just like us, this team
that were going against as a team that wants to run,
they want to get in transition, and we're not gonna
allow them.
Speaker 2 (03:28):
To do that.
Speaker 1 (03:29):
I thought that early on, Pascal Siakam did a really
good job of taking advantage of the mismatches. Right in
a series where you are the underdog, the heavy underdog,
you have to try to find the one thing, the
two things that you can take advantage of and let
it be your bread and butter. In this one, it
was them being able to get Pascal Siakam switched with
Cason Wallace on his back, Alex Caruso on the back,
(03:50):
and very early in this game. One thing I liked
that Pascal Siakam did do, and he kind of steered
away from this a little bit in the second average
I didn't like as much is that as soon as
he touched the ball with the mismatch, it was a bucket.
He wasn't over thinking, he wasn't looking for a pass out,
he wasn't waiting for the help side to come over.
Speaker 2 (04:04):
It was like, give me the ball and I'm gonna
go up. It did bite them in.
Speaker 1 (04:06):
The ass a few different times because some of the
turnovers that they ended up having was like entry passes
to Miles Turner, who's just not very good at finishing
at the rim in the first place, but Miles Turner
having a small defender trying to get him the ball.
Speaker 2 (04:17):
No, no, no, okay, see just gonna take that.
Speaker 1 (04:18):
In the same thing with Pascal Siakam, my thought, again,
they did a good job there. The Halliburn thing him
hitting this game winner changes the whole conversation about his
game completely because very early on, if you look at
the previews that I did, whether it be on numbers
on the board or whatever we talked about. In the
two regular season games that OKAC played against the Indiana Pacers,
lou Dort Slash the OKC Thunder have been really able
(04:41):
to get Tyry's Halliburn out of this game complearly. It
was his lowest usage of any games or any opponents
so far the season, and he just didn't take many shots.
Speaker 2 (04:49):
He didn't really have the ball.
Speaker 1 (04:50):
He played off ball, and I was hoping that they
tried to figure out a way to get Halliburton going,
even though lou Dort was gonna be his primary defender
and ain't weren't really doing that and low key it
kind of ended up being the blessing because they running
a lot of their actions in the second half through
nim Hard and nim Hard. Even though Tyre's Halliburn hits
the biggest shot of the game in the game that
ends up winning it, nim Hard in this fourth quarter,
(05:10):
let me recheck because I didn't write it down. Let
me see if I could quickly go through and the
fourth Cordy at eight points two to five, step back
three three main free throws like he was really good
during that stretch where they ended up winning, So I
was hoping to see a little bit more of Tyre's
Halliburn and secondary actions or as a screener. We saw
it every once in a while, and sometimes he did
become the screener and they got the switch. And when
(05:30):
you're going against a team with so many great defensive players,
I feel like I'm glazing. Okay, See, even though they lost,
they have so many great defensive players. They're like, you
get the switch right, and the switch happens to be
shake He ors Alexander because you're not gonna get the
switch on caseon Wallace or Alix Carusso or dub of
Dort and a lot of cases. Sga is the worst
perimeter defender on the court. So Tyre's Halliburn gets the
(05:51):
switch off him being the screen man, but instead of
him trying to attack Sga, it ended up being just
another pass out of something else. And I got pretty
frust with that because I thought that this was one
of the few opportunities that Tyre's Halliburton would have to
get to the basket and break down his defense. I
think early on, a lot of the turnovers that we
saw were like a nerves. I think Obi topping and
(06:11):
that first stit that he had was whoa shout out
to him because he redeemed himself heavily. But that first sting,
I think he had three turnovers in four minutes time.
Speaker 2 (06:19):
It was really really bad.
Speaker 1 (06:21):
But the other ones where them trying to play this
free flowing ball, swingy type game and okay, so you
don't really like that. And I thought in the second
half they simplified everything. The one advantage I thought that
the Pacers had going into the series is how creative
they can be on the offensive side of the ball.
That creativity ended up being like a curse in the
first half of them trying to generate you know, these
(06:41):
open looks off the second pass or the third pass,
and those things weren't really there. And in the second half,
I thought they simplified, simplified everything. It's like, hey, we're
gonna try to get a paint touch, we're gonna go
up if we got that pace touch, or we're just
gonna swing at one pass.
Speaker 2 (06:54):
Some of the shots they ended up hitting off the.
Speaker 1 (06:56):
One pass where contested shots, but that might have been
the best shot you can generate. I guess it's OKC team,
whether it be the corner three that Miles Turner hit
off the goddamn off the goddamn glass, or the seventeen
three pointers that Obie Topping took that will ride open.
Speaker 2 (07:10):
This is just them.
Speaker 1 (07:12):
I saw somebody on Twitter call them the possum Pacers
because they gonna they're gonna play Dad, but they're never
actually damn And it's fourth quarter and the biggest lead
during that fourth quarter.
Speaker 2 (07:22):
I did write that in my notes.
Speaker 1 (07:23):
The biggest lead ended up being fifteen point lead with
nine minutes to go.
Speaker 2 (07:28):
They hit a shot and on the broadcast, are like.
Speaker 1 (07:31):
The biggest leader of the ninth for OKC nine minutes
the first lead of the game for the Pacers is
the game winner. That's nuts. That's just overall nuts for
them not giving giving up. I thought that the Pacers
also did one thing that probably gonna go undernotice here
Again I mentioned their defense and transition in that first
half after they turned the ball over the nineteen different times,
(07:51):
but they prevented the OKAC Thunder from playing any brand
of beautiful basketball as well, where it's like, hey man,
if you want to play single shade, gonna let you
run and taking shots if you want to play single
covered stuff. Doube, we're gonna let you do that. We're
not allowing y'all to swing the ball either. And in
this game, okay See ended up with just how many assists.
They ended up having thirteen assists on almost forty makes
(08:13):
at thirty nine makes, and only thirteen of those were
off a pass.
Speaker 2 (08:17):
That's pretty damn good for the Indiana Pacers. Man.
Speaker 1 (08:21):
I don't know if that's okay See not doing a
good enough job of getting them in rotations or if
the Pacers just didn't allow them to do that. And
now that we got what three days in between games,
I can rewatch a lot of this stuff and really
come to a conclusion.
Speaker 2 (08:35):
But that swing swing, dribble cut thing.
Speaker 1 (08:37):
Like it ended up working in the first half, but
in the second half, to simplifying the oh and nim
Hard doing an amazing job, turn up doing an amazing
job down the stretch of just hitting shots, just hitting shots,
and okay See went extremely cold. One thing, if I
am going to be critical of shay gives Alexander for anything,
(08:57):
I do believe that some of the times when his
team is back against the wall the other team's going
on the run, he feels the need to like, come on,
I got us, and he's the MVP of the league.
I'm not asking him not to do that. But sometimes
it overextends itself just a little bit. And I thought
that might have been a case in this game down
to stretch, because they didn't.
Speaker 2 (09:14):
Generate a bunch of good looks.
Speaker 1 (09:16):
They truly didn't, so that that was one of the
most interesting things about the games. As much as we
got to give praise to the to the Indiana Pacers
on this comeback, somebody stats are insane. I mean, okay,
see took sixteen more shots, sixteen more shots, they had
eighteen less turnovers, sixteen more shots, eighteen less turnovers and loss.
Speaker 2 (09:44):
What that thought?
Speaker 1 (09:45):
These these stats don't make any sense whatsoever.
Speaker 2 (09:51):
And here we are.
Speaker 1 (09:53):
You know, the pace of the Pacers have been able
to play with throughout their first couple series have been
again one of their one of their greatest features about
their team. But then being able to slow down the
pace in the second half, I think it just threw
okayc off just more than I could have ever anticipated.
I don't know, I have a podcast or shooting the morning,
(10:14):
so I have to rewatch the entire second half to
kind of get into it a little bit more so
if you want, if you want me to cover more
of game number one, that podcast will be coming out
afternoon tomorrow. Again, we got so many days in between
games that I can't.
Speaker 2 (10:28):
Go to bed. I gotta be up very early, but
I cannot go to bed.
Speaker 1 (10:31):
I have to rewatch this game, or at least the
second half, because this was.
Speaker 2 (10:34):
A really good woman.
Speaker 1 (10:36):
There is way too many for my like in conversations
about you know, it being too small in markets or
this and that. I even saw this morning people on
TV talking about it being the easiest path to the
finals ever for the Indiana Pacers, which is just some
bullshit because they said the same thing about the Boston
Celtics last year. They said the same thing in twenty
twenty three. They said the same thing in twenty twenty two.
(10:58):
In twenty twenty, of course the bubble, everybody talk about
the Lakers. Who else it was the Nuggets run. The
Nuggets didn't beat the team over fifty wins. It just
feels like there's always the Warriors run was plagued with injuries.
Speaker 2 (11:12):
It's just too much conversation about the shit that doesn't matter.
In basketball.
Speaker 1 (11:16):
This was a chess match between two coaches and a
big ass shot, a shot you will always remember in
Game one and I can't wait to rewatch it.
Speaker 2 (11:24):
Let me know what you think.
