In this week’s edition of In The Know, Andy Taylor welcomes back Debbie Kenyon, President of the Green Valley Council, to share updates on key initiatives and upcoming events that impact Green Valley residents.

Debbie recaps the recent Resiliency Meeting held on September 5th, where discussions centered on the crucial power line redundancy project for Santa Cruz County. While final route decisions are still pending, continued input from the community is shaping the next steps, and GVC leadership will meet with TEP soon to discuss fire mitigation plans along the lines.

Looking ahead, the Green Valley Council has several important events scheduled. On October 16th, U of A’s invasive plant expert Ben Tully returns to discuss noxious species like fountain grass and buffalo grass, and provide guidance on safe handling and eradication. On October 23rd, in partnership with the Pima Council on Aging, GVC will once again host its popular End of Life Forum, walking residents through vital documents, powers of attorney, and planning steps everyone should have in place. Then, on November 13th, residents are invited to a Morning with Pima County Health, featuring experts addressing valley-specific health issues including Valley Fever, rabies, respiratory illnesses, and flu season preparation.

Debbie emphasizes the importance of community engagement and invites residents to connect through their HOAs, visit gvcouncil.org, or call 520-648-1936 for details and registration.
