Andy welcomes back Deanna Lindeman, Commander of the Green Valley Sheriff's Auxiliary Volunteers (SAV), for an update on their latest efforts and upcoming events. Deanna shares how SAV has been active throughout the summer, including home patrols and preparations for events like the Santa Rita Fire Pancake Breakfast (October 10th) and the Hunger Walk at Historic Canoa Ranch (September 27th), where SAV will assist with traffic control.
She also highlights opportunities to join SAV, with a new training class beginning October 7th, offering roles from front desk work to field patrol. Interested volunteers should apply by mid-September to complete background checks and fingerprinting.
Deanna reminds residents that SAV offers free home checks for seasonal residents and details the Scam Squad, which assists victims of scams and fraud with support and referrals to local law enforcement. She emphasizes the diverse background of SAV members—retired professionals, veterans, and community-minded individuals—all driven by the desire to help.
