Speaker 1 (00:09):
Get ready for some animated magic. It's Siana at Kid's
first coming attraction to your direct Mind, a kid approved
entertainment news. Today, I'm catching up with the one and
only Ali Krabahalo about her new Apple TV Plus film
Lulu Is a Rhinoceros, premiering May thirtieth. What inspire this
exciting new role after Mohana, Let's listen. Lulu's a Rhinoceros
(00:29):
is about Lulu, who's a pit bull that believes is
spreading kindness to others and believes she's a rhinoceros based
off her idol Gino the Rhinoceros. Talk to me about
Lulu's belief in herself and what it represents to you.
Speaker 2 (00:40):
You know, Lulu is a rhinoceros. So this story is
about self acceptance but also meeting people with curiosity instead
of judgment. And I think that the story is so
important now as more than ever. I love that our
themes are about kindness and about you know, meeting people
(01:01):
and instead of putting our own insecurities on them, were
changing their day because we're having a bad day, to
just recognize how special each individual is. And I've never
played a rhinoceros before, which was absolutely a draw for
this project, and I was not disappointed. I love her joy,
I love the way that she easily makes friends. I
(01:23):
love the way that she easily forgives as well. So
I feel like this is a really important story for
everyone to see.
Speaker 1 (01:31):
Lulu is a great role model at showing people how
to be yourself and continue to believe in who you
are despite others who may judge you. So how does
Lulu's Our Hinoceros do such a good job of representing
such a strong topic, especially nowadays with social media to
a younger audience.
Speaker 2 (01:47):
Happily, I think one of the best ways I might
be a little biased, to have meaningful conversations is actually
through song. So I love this is also a musical.
I myself break out and justus song more often than not,
so I'm glad Lulu doesn't mind doing that either. We
have great songs. We start off with good morning, beautiful you,
(02:08):
we end with the perfect you is you and believing
in yourself is sometimes the hardest choice to make.
Speaker 1 (02:18):
You're definitely a perfect cast for Lulu. I mean, you
just have that energy, you have that greatness and that
confidence within you, which I can tell greatly so talk
to me about when you look in the mirror, who
do you see yourself?
Speaker 2 (02:30):
As I often the fourteen year old that got cast
in her first film, which was Mulana. I recognize that
I am scared.
Speaker 3 (02:45):
I am often so nervous to put myself out there,
to continue acting, to continue in the casting world.
Speaker 2 (02:56):
Also where others judge my performance and then myself worth
then goes into my career. You know, it's all a
really tumultuous kind of feeling in my soul to be
a young woman in today's eg age. I don't think
I have to tell you that for you to understand, like,
(03:18):
I am still figuring it out. So if anyone is
to watch this, recognize I'm twenty four, I am still
figuring that out, and everyone is just doing their best.
Remove people from their pedestals. Certainly remove me from a pedestal,
because I still see myself as as just a kid.
Speaker 1 (03:38):
Luluisar Anoceros is a great show, especially for younger audiences, because,
as I mentioned, it really just allows them to know
that it's okay to be who you are no matter what,
and people will be judged. People may judge you, So
how important is it for there to be shows or
films like Luis our Ainoceros, so where we can get
youth nowadays to just learn to be themselves despite what
(04:00):
others may think.
Speaker 2 (04:01):
Oh, I think that Lulu is going to represent the
truest expression of yourself, and that it is so much
more fun to lean into that, to lean into their quirks,
to lean into what others might find weird, and truthfully,
(04:22):
if I can be an example, like people enjoy me
because I'm a little kooky, right, Like I love playing
pretend I really do. I get to play rhinoceroses, and
I get to play dizzy princesses, and I have gratefully
found something that makes my heart sing. And I don't
(04:42):
know that I would have been able to find that
if I played it safe. And so Lulu is an
excellent representation of a young rhinoceros who has got such
a beautiful and full life ahead of her, filled with
great friends, and filled with the knowledge that she knows
(05:03):
exactly who she is, and that's really special.
Speaker 1 (05:06):
Cut that's our take for today, But don't change the channels.
