Speaker 1 (00:15):
Yo, what's going on everybody? How y'all doing out there?
This is Jared Lewis aka King J Lou aka King
J Lewis coming at you again. This is another episode
of your power session Short, strong and spirit led to
fuel you on your faith and strengthen your every day walk. Now, y'all,

(00:43):
I gotta keep it real with you. One of my
most favorite rappers is Lil Wayne and Lou Wayne has
a track. He has a song called Hustler's Music, and
if you listen to it is it's really about the grind.
It's about it's about the hustle. It's about the relentless

(01:06):
pursuit to make it out and make it up. That's hunger,
that's dry, that's passion, that's desire. It's something that the
everyday person you know who gets up every day, laces
up their boots, spresses their teeth, washes their face, goes

(01:26):
out there and try to make something happen. But here's
the thing. Although that's a secular song, it has a
strong meaning to it and the Kingdom has got a
certain ambition to it as well, all right. And it's
not a it's not necessarily what we would classify for

(01:47):
it to be called a hustler's ambition, but it's a
holy ambition, all right. It's a holy ambition, all right, ambition.
And today that's what we're gonna be talking about here
at the Kingley Discussions podcast. We stand on truth over trends,

(02:12):
authenticity over esthetics, and scripture before opinion. So let's get
into this word. Philippians the third chapter, the twelfth through
the fourteenth verse. And y'all all, y'all, and y'all know
this about me by now. I love reading from the
King James version. All right. So Philippians the third chapter,

(02:35):
starting at the twelfth verse, not as though I had
already attained either we're already perfect. But I follow after,
if that I may apprehend that for which for which
also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus Brethren, I count

(02:59):
not my to have apprehended. But this thing I do,
forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto
those things which are before, I pressed toward the mark
of the prize of the high calling of God in
Jesus Christ. Man. Wow, this scripture right here, that scripture

(03:25):
right there, it gets me every single time. It's one
of my favorite scriptures in the whole Bible. Paul wrote
this letter to the Church of the Philippians while he
was in prison. Think about that. He could he could
have been focused on so many other different things. He

(03:49):
could have been focused on the chains. He could have
been focused on his confinement. He could have been focused
on his struggle. He could have been focused on his
past life as a persecutor of the Christian Church. But
instead he's talking about in prison, in his hard time,

(04:15):
in his lowest of low, he's talking about pressing forward
in his midnight hour, He's talking about reaching. In his
lowest of low, He's talking about striving kingdom, family. That's

(04:35):
holy ambition. He admits, I don't have it all together.
Paul says, I haven't made it. I haven't even gotten
to the place where I want to be in Christ yet.
But I'm still pressing. All right, Let's take a look

(04:58):
at this. Let's look at Paul's words. Paul says. He says,
not as though I had already attained. In other words,
Paul is saying I'm not perfect, I'm not finished, but
I'm still chasing after Christ. Now, that's what we could

(05:20):
interpret and observe. We could observe that that's humility, that's honesty.
And then he says, Brotherren, I count not myself to
have apprehended. Paul is letting us know that even as
an apostle, even as one of God's chosen, even as

(05:43):
one of God's people, all right, even as that, Paul says,
I'm striving, all right, I'm striving. I'm trying to achieve
that which what God has actually for me. M m

(06:10):
mm hmmm. You know, people were questioning Paul's call. They
were questioning them, even some of the disciples, that some
of the Twelve Disciples was questioning because they were saying,
how in the world can you have a Jesus experience? Well,
there was a role called Damascus. There was a role

(06:35):
called this Damascus somewhere and asks somewhere asks chapter nine,
I want to, I want to, if my recollection recollects correctly,
there was a role called Damascus, and Jesus appeared and
knocked Paul off his high horse. All right, And once

(06:55):
Jesus gave him this divine revelation, Paul begins building the
early Church. And even through him building this early church,
Paul still says, I'm still not there yet. The key
phrase here is forgetting those things which are behind see

(07:21):
because Paul knew that ambition is forward facing. Holy ambition
doesn't dwell on what's already happened, whether it was success
or failure. See because Paul knew that it's all about

(07:44):
the pressing toward to what's next in Christ Jesus. So
you know, you know, I'm always big on the definitions ambition.
What is ambition? Ambition is a strong desire to do

(08:06):
or achieve something, typically requiring determination or hard work. So
what makes a holy ambition and how does that relate
to a hustler. Well, a hustler is going to make
something happen, regardless of the circumstance. Ambition is the desire

(08:31):
to achieve something, typically requiring determination or hard work. But
what makes it holy, Jared, this is what makes it
holy when you do it in the name of Jesus.
Let's connect this. All the world talks about hustle, the

(08:53):
streets talk about ambition. That's hunger and that's grind right
that I'll do whatever it takes. Mindset, that I'm gonna
do whatever it takes to get mine type of attitude.
And that's why I love the song Hustler music so much,

(09:18):
but the kingdom takes that and flips it. Holy ambition says,
I'll press on no matter what it takes, to glorify God.
You see, ambition by itself is not evil. It's not evil.
God gave us drive, God gave us goals, God gave

(09:40):
us vision, God gave us hunger. But it becomes toxic
whenever it's centered based upon ego. When your ambition is
only about you, when your ambition is only about your bag,
when your ambition is only about you as an individual

(10:01):
and your purpose, that's not holy. Paul shows us ambition
is sanctified when it's aligned with Jesus the Christ. He
wasn't hustling for Paul's all right, He was pressing for
the prize of the high calling in Jesus Christ. That's

(10:24):
holy ambition. Colossians three and twenty three says, and whatsoever
ye do do it heartily, Do it heartily as to
the Lord, and not unto man. Proverse sixteen and three says,
commit thyselves, commit thy works unto the Lord, and thy

(10:44):
thoughts shall be established. The world tells us ambition is
not wrong. It's the target of that ambition that matters.
So how do we live all of this out? How
do we move from a hustler's ambition to a holy ambition?

(11:10):
All right, here's three steps. Here's three steps. The first one,
set holy goals. All right, set holy goals. When you
make plans, ask yourself this question, is this about me?

(11:31):
Or does it glorify God? Simply? Is this about me?
Or does it glorify God? If your ambition stops itself,
it becomes short sighted. It is short sighted. If in
fact it builds the kingdom and blesses others, it glorifies Christ.

(11:57):
That is what makes it ambition. So the first one,
the first step is set holy goals. Number two, stay
future focused, Paul says, forgetting those things which are behind.
I want to let you know something, and I want

(12:18):
you to understand what I'm saying. Your past can't hold
your ambition hostage. Not your failures, not your shortcomings, not
your trials, not your tribulations, not your sicknesses, not your distresses,
not your diseases. Not even your past wins. Holy ambition

(12:46):
is always reaching for what is next in Christ Jesus.
Because we don't stop. Whenever we achieve one thing, we
go on and press on and press forward to what
is next? All right. So the first step is setting
holy goals, second step is staying future focused, and the

(13:10):
last and final step, number three is to press with persistence.
Hustlers don't quit. People with the hustler mentality mindset, they
don't quit. They grind out and they grind through the struggle.

(13:31):
Holy ambition requires the same type of grit, but it's
fueled by grace. See, because you're not just pressing alone,
because you've got the spirit of God that dwells within

(13:51):
pushing you forward. So the last and final step is
pressing with persistence. So you got three steps right here
to help you move from a hustler's ambition to a
holy ambition. First step, set holy goals. Second step, stay
future focused. Third step is pressed with persistence. So don't

(14:15):
hustle to survive, hustle holy. Don't just press for what
you want, press for the necessity. That's the difference. I
want to encourage you before we close, before we leave
here on this power session, I want you to say

(14:37):
this here with me. My ambition is holy because my
pursuit is in Christ. I press toward the mark. All right.
I know that was a lot, but I want you

(14:58):
to understand what this means. Okay, say it again. Let's
repeat this again. My ambition is holy because my pursuit
is Christ. I press toward the mark Man. What a statement. See,

(15:27):
because we're not doing this just because we want to
do it. We're not just doing it because we're trying
to be fancy, but we're doing it for the cause
of Christ. Let us pray as we end this power session. Father, God,
we thank you forgiving us the desire. We thank you

(15:47):
for giving us the drive. We thank you for discipline.
We thank you for divine purpose. Thank you for reminding
us through the Apostle Paul that we don't have to
be perfect to keep on pressing towards the mark. Lord,
help us to keep our ambitions holy, purefy our goals,

(16:13):
align our grind, and strengthen our press. Let every pursuit
bring glory in your name. In Jesus's name, we pray, Amen,
and look never forget this. Always remember this. If you

(16:36):
didn't hear nothing else from this power session, remember this.
Always remember to be the best kingdom citizen that you
can be and exercising your right as a kingdom citizen.
God bless I love you and I catch you in
the next one. Peace
