And as always, let me remind you here at the

over esthetics, and scripture four opinions. All right, so let's
go ahead and really get down into this power session
for today. I want you to grab your Bibles if
(01:01):
you can. We're gonna be coming out of Romans seven
thirteen through twenty five, all right, Romans the seventh chapter,
thirteenth verse.
Speaker 2 (01:13):
Through the twenty fifth verset.
Speaker 1 (01:15):
And just for the sake of this podcast, we're going
to be coming from the King James version.
Speaker 2 (01:23):
All right.
Speaker 1 (01:23):
So Romans the seventh chapter, thirteenth through the twenty fifth verse,
all right, and we're gonna hear what Paul has to
say at this time. All right, was then that which
is good made death unto me God forbid, but sin
(01:48):
that it might appear sin working death in me By
that which is good, that sin by the commandment might
become exceeding sinful. For we know that the law is spiritual.
But I am carnal sold under sin. For that which
(02:13):
I do allow, not for what I would that do
I not, but what I hate that I do.
Speaker 2 (02:25):
If then I do.
Speaker 1 (02:26):
That which I would not, I consent unto the law
that is good.
Speaker 3 (02:35):
Now that it is no more I that do it,
but sin.
Speaker 1 (02:43):
That dwelleth in me. For I know that in me
that is in my flesh dwether no good thing, for
to will is present with me. But how to perform
that which is good? I find not for the good
(03:04):
that I would do not, but the evil which I
would not, that.
Speaker 2 (03:09):
I do.
Speaker 3 (03:12):
Now, if I do that what I would not, it
is more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth
in me. I find then a law that, when I.
Speaker 1 (03:29):
Would do good, evil is present with me, for a
delight in the law of God after the inward man.
But I see another law in my members, worrying against
the law of my mind and bringing me in captivity
to the law of sin, which is in my members.
Speaker 2 (03:52):
Old wretched man.
Speaker 1 (03:55):
Whoo, I don't know if y'all be feeling this verse like,
I help c Lord.
Speaker 3 (04:01):
Oh wretched man that I am, who.
Speaker 1 (04:06):
Shall deliver me from the body of this death? I
thank God through Jesus Christ, our Lord. So then with
the mind I myself served the law of God, but
with the flesh the law of sin.
Speaker 2 (04:27):
Who what a Bible verse? Right? Amen? What? What a
what a?
Speaker 3 (04:36):
What a?
Speaker 2 (04:36):
What a Bible verse? Man? What a what a Bible verse?
It is?
Speaker 1 (04:41):
It's definitely this is definitely something else. Romans seventh. This
is Roman. This is Romans chapter seventh, thirteen through verses
twenty five.
Speaker 2 (04:53):
What a word?
Speaker 1 (04:55):
And this podcast episode is called the Struggle of the Flesh.
All right, the struggle of the flesh. Let's just sit
for a second with that, The Struggle of the flesh.
Let's just sit in that for a second. Paul the Apostle,
(05:22):
the same man who wrote over half the New Testament,
is literally out here admitting that he has a struggle,
and he is struggling. He says, the good that I
(05:49):
want to do, I don't do. The good that I
want to do, I don't do. And the evil that
I don't want to do, that's the very thing that
(06:10):
I end up doing. Shit, Hey, man, I told you this,
this this power session is something real like it's I
think we all struggle. We all have a struggle. We
all have a struggle with our flesh. And Paul is
(06:34):
definitely one of those guys who has this struggle. And
the words struggle, if we could take a minute to
look at it is y'all know I'm heavy on the definition.
So when we look at that, the struggle of our flesh.
(06:57):
The word struggle can be used two differents. It can
be a verb or it can be a noun. It
can be a verb action, or it can be a
down person, place, or thing. So as a verb, the
definition is to make a forceful or violent effort to
get free of restraint or constriction. Now the noun of
(07:26):
struggle is a forceful of violent effort to get free
of restraint or resist attack. So the battle within our
flesh is something.
Speaker 2 (07:40):
That we deal with all the time. We deal.
Speaker 1 (07:46):
With the battle of our flesh as soon as we
get up in the morning. Scientists have proven that if
every human will drink a glass of water room temperature
every day, it will regulate so many of the sicknesses
and the ailments that we have. But we struggle with
(08:07):
our flesh, even with something as simple as drinking water,
a necessity.
Speaker 2 (08:13):
That we have to have.
Speaker 1 (08:14):
Seventy five percent of our human body.
Speaker 2 (08:18):
Is made of water.
Speaker 1 (08:21):
But we struggle with our flesh to even drink the
very thing that we have a necessity for. That isn't
that amazing? And this is the same thing that Paul
is talking about right here. Paul admits that he struggles.
Speaker 2 (08:44):
He says, he says.
Speaker 1 (08:45):
The good that I want to do, I don't do,
and the evil that I don't want to do, that's
the very thing.
Speaker 2 (08:52):
That I end up doing. This is raw.
Speaker 1 (08:58):
This is transparency at its greatest. Paul is literally saying
I'm fighting here every single day.
Speaker 2 (09:11):
And I'm not above any struggle.
Speaker 1 (09:15):
What Paul did in essence right here, in a way,
Paul exposes the war between his flesh and his spirit.
So with our power session today, in the struggle of
the flesh, I want us to make sure that we
(09:35):
observe what the text is saying. And this is exactly
what the text is saying. We have to learn how
to deal with our flesh and how to deal with
our spirit and not just cast it away and throw
(09:56):
it to the side. Type on type two, type three diabetes,
whatever it is, bhy blood pressure. Uh, whatever sickness, whatever trial,
whatever tribulation, deal with it. Don't just cast it away.
We all need to observe the struggles that happened in
(10:23):
our life. All right, Now, let's go to the let's
let's go to the next thing. Now, here's the revelation here,
all right, here's the rele revelation here. Paul wasn't just
a casual believer. He was the foundation layer of the
(10:47):
early church. Okay, Paul was in a way, we could
say he was the trailblazer of the new early Church.
Speaker 2 (11:05):
He was teaching people about holiness. Uh. He was teaching
people about staying pure.
Speaker 1 (11:13):
He was teaching people about the benefits of remaining single.
You know, and and and and he and he also
was teaching people about marriage as a safeguard against sin.
And he knew how strong the desires of the flesh
(11:37):
can be, or how it could be.
Speaker 2 (11:42):
But even he knew.
Speaker 1 (11:46):
Even Paul knew the church starter, Paul the apostle, Paul
the man with vision, Paul the man from revelations from God.
He even admits, in my flesh dwells no good thing
(12:08):
that should tell us that struggling is not a sign
of weakness. Struggle is the evidence that you are alive
and aware of the battle that you face every day.
And if Paul struggled, don't you dare think that you're
(12:32):
any less of a Christian because you struggle too. Don't
ever think that because you decide to take up the
mantle of Christ, that you're not gonna have your struggles too,
Because you're gonna have them. You're going to have them.
(12:55):
Anybody told you. If anybody had told you that it's
all cupcake, sir, rainbows down here, well I came to
popular bubb or I'm a popular balloon. They line, it's
not true. All of us have a struggle as Christians,
(13:17):
as kingdom citizens, every single one of us.
Speaker 2 (13:21):
But here's the kicker.
Speaker 1 (13:23):
Because you are struggling does not disqualify you as a
kingdom citizen.
Speaker 2 (13:32):
That is a cultural barrier.
Speaker 1 (13:36):
Within a lot of cultures. And that's a stigma that
the Church has that if you are experiencing your struggles,
that this makes you less of a person, and it
(13:57):
does not.
Speaker 2 (14:00):
This is what.
Speaker 1 (14:04):
We need to start interpreting. Our struggles and our trials
and our tribulations. Don't disqualify us from the power and
authority of the Holy Spirit.
Speaker 2 (14:17):
It doesn't. So what do we do with this? What
do we do with this struggle? What do we do
with it?
Speaker 1 (14:29):
How do we handle it? How do we deal with it? Well,
the first thing is to stop hiding from it. So
what do we do with this? First and foremost, stop
hiding from it. Stop hiding your struggle.
Speaker 3 (14:47):
The church.
Speaker 1 (14:49):
Isn't a place of perfection, so we don't need to
be faking.
Speaker 2 (14:56):
This walk with christ Ah.
Speaker 1 (15:04):
If there's something that's bothering you, be up front about it.
Speaker 2 (15:09):
You ain't gotta go around.
Speaker 1 (15:11):
Telling the world everything that you did, the sin and
all this other stuff.
Speaker 2 (15:16):
Don't be messy with it.
Speaker 1 (15:19):
But if you know you have ins mental instabilities, it's
time to go get some therapy. You can be saved,
sanctify and filled with the holy ghosts and going to
heaven anyhow, with a therapist, you can. You could save
souls to live people and heal people from the sick
(15:40):
he heal people from their sickness and still have a therapist.
Speaker 2 (15:47):
Hurt people hurt people.
Speaker 1 (15:50):
I don't know if people really pay attention to that,
but hurt people do hurt people. So The first thing
is stop hiding your struggle. Second thing is understand that
your discipline matters. Your choice is in your relationships that matters,
(16:10):
what you consume that matters, how you guard your eyes
that matters, what you listen to with your ears that matters,
and what your heart intakes. All of that shapes how
(16:33):
much power the flesh has in your life.
Speaker 2 (16:37):
Discipline matters.
Speaker 1 (16:39):
So the first thing, what do you do, stop hiding
from your struggle. Second thing you do is understand that
discipline matters. And finally, last but not least, lean into
the spirit. Paul closes, not in despair.
Speaker 2 (16:59):
Okay, hit me out.
Speaker 1 (17:01):
Paul closes not in despair, but with hope. Paul says,
I thank God through Jesus Christ, our Lord.
Speaker 2 (17:17):
After all of this that he explained.
Speaker 1 (17:20):
Throughout the struggle of his flesh. That's the key. Victory
isn't in will power. Victory isn't in necessarily about how strong.
Speaker 2 (17:39):
And how accurate and how adequate you are.
Speaker 1 (17:43):
Victory is in surrender, giving ourselves fully to God. We
conquer not by might, but we conquer by yielding deeper
(18:06):
to Christ.
Speaker 2 (18:07):
All right, we're.
Speaker 1 (18:09):
Getting ready to close this power session, but I want
you to understand this. I want you to say this
with me. I may struggle, but I am not defeated.
My flesh is weak, but my spirit is strong. Through
(18:34):
Jesus Christ, I already have the victory. Let us pray, Father,
we thank you for Paul's honesty. We thank you that
your word shows us that we are not in this
battle and this struggle alone.
Speaker 2 (18:56):
Teach us, Lord.
Speaker 1 (18:58):
How to walk by the spirit and not by the flesh.
Strengthen us to discipline our minds and our bodies, and
remind us daily that the victory has already been won
and our struggles don't last.
Speaker 2 (19:16):
Always.
Speaker 1 (19:17):
In Jesus' name, we pray, Amen and family, as always
remember to be the best kingdom citizen that you can
be and exercise your right as a kingdom citizen. God
bless I love you, Catch you in the next one.
Speaker 2 (19:37):
Peace,
