Speaker 1 (00:00):
God, after noon, what a blessing. It is such a
blessing to be back on the boat with my brother
Bruce and Tju, and we got our guests to kill
Douglas and we always appreciative of our producer Ballery that
needs Don's I mean, it's a blessing it and we
cannot overlook ud elaying for Johnson, my class made of

(00:24):
nineteen seventy four, always willing to do us a favor
by letting us be noted on Hamilton Party that the
boat is always pushing away two thirty centulus standard time,
the tail our reportman radio, were you here, testimonies and
and palms that the touch and change and maybe even

(00:45):
pay lives. That's what we're doing. We just we just
so thankful that God is giving us another time, another
chance to tell the world that we are trying to
get you understanding. Better try and you better trying before
it's too late. You better try it before it's too late.
And you know, last week we were really, really, really

(01:08):
truly blessed. And I just I'm just so thankful that
that I always have Boots and TJ. They take notes,
they take notes, and they always are ready prepared to
to to recap the blessing that was given to us
by having Mssus my guests.

Speaker 2 (01:28):
You need.

Speaker 1 (01:30):
Chard what a blessing he came. He just he just
poured out a hard to us, letting us know about
how God can take care of you and a tornado,
and so if if he can do it in a tornado,
he can do it in just as his life, and
that's what he does. And so we're just so thankful.
And then before before I let Bruce and TJ reflect

(01:51):
back on it, you know, at the end of the show,
about two minutes after, I'm gonna talk about my math
program because as I look it around and I see
what's going on, and I see how so many children
are getting further and further behind, And a lot of
people don't really know much about the knoth every Man's Revolution.
They just know that I've gotten proclamations from the Mirror.

(02:13):
But I want to be able to let them know
that they need to get their kids involved with this
program this summer so that your kids can can jump ahead.
But I'm not gonna take out that time, and I'll
do that time. But I'm just telling my listeners just
be listening about thirty minutes after the program we end
the program, I'm gonna talk about thirty minutes how you
can empower your child, your grand child, even yourself. If

(02:35):
you're thinking about changing your career and you know you've
been out of man for so long, you better get
involved with the Kelith every Man Revolution. No pencil or
paper or calculating, and we write it on your brain
before you write on your papers, because we train eyes
to do ours and we're gonna shut it with you.
But TJ Andrew Pjay Man, you know we always respect

(02:55):
you so much and we always love to have the
Mayor of Hamilton Park always go on first, because he
comes in. He's just he just I tell you what
he does when he comes on. After he finished coming on,
he just say, Bruce, I got you hooked on too,
so come on on out. And Bruce is kind of
closing on out for letting us know that we're all

(03:16):
about serving the lot and that's what we're gonna do.
And so go ahead you they reflect that back as
he needs Jordan, how he blessed us last week. And
then Bruce, you just kick right.

Speaker 2 (03:26):
On the end. Yes. Look, uh, First of all, Patolar,
I want to thank you again for giving me the
opportunity not just to be on this podcast, but to
let the world know what Jesus Christ means to me.
And I'm also so thankful that everyone that's listening to

(03:47):
this podcast, it might be that you might not be
able to tune in every week, but you can always revisit,
and if you can't revisit during your spare time, at
least before we started to show every Sunday, we will
review the testimony that we had the previous Sunday. Now,

(04:11):
last week, I was really blessed because mister Denise, mister
Denise Jordan, I believe that was her name. No, I
know that was her name, Denise Jordan, but she told
us a story. She told us a story, and it
ended up being a testimony without her really realizing that. Lady,

(04:33):
you just gave one of the best testimonies that I've
heard in a number and a number of years, under
a number and number of circumstances. And so I just
saw the title it God is in the Storm. God
is in the Storm. He was in a tornado with
mister Denise, and she told me that she said, I

(04:54):
remember saying I need help, I need some help this
doorm This dormant is getting ready to really do a
lot of damage here. And so she started leaning and
praying and talking to the Lord. She said, all things

(05:16):
are possible, even when you're in a storm. And I
found out that I was in when I was in
this storm, that it was more important for me the
trust in my Lord and saying Jesus Christ and anything else.
So just listen up, listen up. This is what my

(05:38):
heart told me to say. God talked to me. He
had some plans for me, but I didn't realize it.
But he was talking to me just before the storm
and everything started happening. Everything started going on, noise, noise
so strong, is sounding like a a house full of trains.

(06:03):
But the Lord was still talking to me, and the
storms came noise, noise, noise all around. It started moving
things around, moving toward the door. I saw the storm.
I looked outside. I heard the storm. But the Lord said,

(06:23):
don't worry. He told me not to worry. I fell pressure.
I saw the outside was doing but I was on
the inside, and I didn't feel as scared as our
normally would feel. And then the Lord took care of me.

(06:45):
He told me what to do. He told me exactly
what to move from one part of the house to
the outside of the house. And I began to listen
more and more to the Lord. Lord guided me through
the storm. The Lord protected me, He guided me. God

(07:07):
bought me through the storm. He told me which way
to go. He told me wa to which way not
to go. I just thank the Lord. He showed me
the way, and I enjoyed my talk with God. I
enjoyed my talk with the Lord. He said. He told

(07:30):
me to tell the world exactly what you're going through.
Tell the world exactly who guided you through the storm.
Tell the world. I'm going to I'm going to leave
it up to you to tell the world exactly how
you feel about me. Look, you can't ask for you

(07:54):
can't have for anything else, ask for anything to happen
to you like that where you're in this there our
situation where you know something that's getting ready to happen
and it's not going to be good. But the Lord
came into your life and started talking to you. He

(08:15):
started telling me that anytime anything happens, you can always
depend on me. This is what she was telling us,
and this is what we're trying to tell you anything
that you're going through, if you take it to the
Lord and leave it with him, let go and let God.

(08:39):
And that's what she Her main concern was, I know
the Lord. I know the Lord now, but I wasn't
sure if I knew him before then. That was his
way of letting her know that he wasn't finished with her.
He wanted her to go through this situation. He wanted
her to be able to go out and tell the world, Look,

(09:03):
we can have all kinds of tribulations, we can have
all types of problems. We can it doesn't have necessarily
have to be a storm, It could be any type
of problem. The Lord, our heavenly Father, he's going to
be with us every trip. But the way he tells
you this, for God so loved the world that he
gave us Tony. But God and Son and whoever believed

(09:23):
in them shall not perish. But we will have ever
last in life. He didn't just say that to me,
He said this to all of his children. God is
our answer to every situation, any type of situation that
we might be in. We don't have to depend on

(09:43):
TikTok or any of these new contraptions that they have
we have a Lord and Savior that's been with us
from day one. We have our Lord and Saving that's
going to be with us in day two. And we
have our Lord and Savior who's gonna be with us
until the end of time. So all we have to
do is put our faith in, our trust in our

(10:04):
Lord and save.

Speaker 3 (10:05):
You.

Speaker 2 (10:05):
Whether we are on a ship and the ship is
getting ready to go down, getting ready to sink, trust
in the Lord. We can be in this storm, just
like the beast was, and we can just trust in
the Lord. That's what we That's what we want you
to hear every single time you have any type of situation.

(10:26):
He'll never do l He'll never he'll never turn his
back on us, He'll never leave us. He'll be with
us twenty four hours a day. That's seven days a week.
There's three hundred and sixty five and sometime three hundred
and sixty six days a year. He's going to be
with us. He's going. He's the one that we can
put our trust in. He's the one that we can

(10:46):
depend on. He is the one. He is the truth,
and he is the light and look and I want
to thank the Lord. I can't help but to thank
the Lord every time I get the opportunity for dying
for my sins. He died for our sins. He did that,
and then one other thing that he did do that

(11:10):
we should always try to remember. He rose for our salvation.
On the third day, he came back and he said, look,
and I'm coming back to tell you. If you trust
in me, you put your faith in me, you don't
have to worry about anything else. Everything that you think
that you might be concerned about, take it to the

(11:30):
Lord and me with there. And that's what mister Denise
was telling us last week. And she topped it off
with let's see, she said, you have to know the Lord.
Let God end. And then she said, please be sure
and listen. Listen with your heart, get the Lord in

(11:52):
your life and be a child of God because he
is the best. He's the best that you can have
in your life. Those those were some of her her
closing remorse, trust in the Lord and to save me
Jesus Christ. And this de niece, I wanna say thank
you again one more time, thank you for bringing us

(12:14):
that testimony. That was just just a real life testimony.
Because we're in this storm season now and some people's are.
You know, they will be a little anxious because of
the thundering and the lightning, and the and the and
the hail storms and and and and oh whatever it
might be. It's a part of the season. But look,

(12:37):
the Lord said, I will protect you. I will be
your comforter. So trust in me, trust in me, trusting
our heaving their Father. Thank you, Bruce. I think it's time.

Speaker 4 (12:51):
Yeah, I'm going to put appreciation of TJ. God bless
us always. I'm always expected deal with the Holy Spirit
anytime I'm on the podcast to help us the name
of Jesus Christ. Thank you Jesus again for this opportunity.
Uh yeah, Denisa Jordan, Uh, she got a Saint Louis

(13:15):
what told her was the white flash, this good thing,
childhood plan. She was on the podcast and thankful that
she was on her. She talks about the being a
her warrior and and that she she had a conversation
with her. She asked what the Lord to strengthen her,

(13:37):
and the Holy Spirit responded in a loud voice, letting
her know, I need to hear from you. At that moment,
it begne that she played a closer walk with Jesus Christ,
and she mentioned at that moment and going forward, felt

(14:03):
as though she could do all all things to Jesus Christ,
who strengthened us. And we know that that's true. But
she was on this podcast telling us of that experience
and that teaching talked about what she said, listening with
your heart, not just with your listen with your heart.

Speaker 1 (14:27):
And again as TD mentioned about the twenty or that
she was in, and again she thought of Saint Louis
and she mentioned she felt God's presence at that time
when she was in this tawny and the Holy Spirit

(14:48):
was ordering her steps, directing her and it made me think, God,
the only time God, whatever trial, whatever triplation you're in
at that.

Speaker 4 (15:04):
Time, God is right on time. And that's what God is.
A shelvelter in the time of a storm where there's
a personal challenges that you may be going through, or
throne as as the mister Nice talked about, God will
give you peace. God will give you calmness, and she

(15:27):
talked about that calmness paid the Lord think she said,
she talked about that calmness when she was in that tornado.

Speaker 1 (15:35):
She wanted to know, oh war, what am I going
to do? Know? The Holy Spirit gave her that calmness,
the worked at her regarding what she needs to do.
John's the only one too, says, I will say of the
Lord is my refuge and my fortress God in hell.

(15:57):
Will I trust trusting in God? Yes, And that's why
she's still here today because she trusting in God. The
Philippinis for seven says, as a peace of God which
transcends all understanding for God, your heart and your mind

(16:18):
in Jesus Christ. And that's what she was on the podcast.
That's the binding about.

Speaker 2 (16:24):
Praise the Lord.

Speaker 5 (16:26):
That God used her to be on this podcast to
help someone and that and as we always talk about,
that's what this podcast is out lifting up the name
of Jesus Christ and looking for a kiss of make
to a Douglas today being on.

Speaker 1 (16:42):
The podcast, thank you, brother Bruce, Thank you said you
know that I tell you they mad that make coach
that it so easy because all I got to do
is come over and do what I do business. That's
running my mouth because I tell you Ruth and Tday man,
they talk on everything.

Speaker 2 (17:02):
Man.

Speaker 1 (17:02):
I just you know, and that's the way God does things.
And you know, I don't have to be saying well, okay,
let me see what I'm gonna say. Now, I don't
have to sit. All I have to do is just
be told on because y'all know who this is. Then
this killing for that boy something, y'all, that's all I
gotta do. This stuff. Bruce and TJ covers everything and

(17:23):
I'm just blessed to have them as co host of
this podcast. And you know how we always like to
do it before we get really serious. Because when we
bring on mister to kill Douglas, and this is what
I want y'all to do, you need to google him
in a k I A N A k I A
Douglas because if we try to talk about his accomplishment,

(17:47):
we'd have to have four or five podcasts. I'm able
to do them all. So he's gonna today, He's gonna
talk about how God has been in control of his life,
you know, And so that's the key. So we we
we're gonna be exciting. But before he bring him on,
we got getting a little laugh because we got to
talk about doctor baby Boy. You know, doctor baby Boy,
and Bruce, myself and Tim and Brisila that's our little brother,

(18:10):
Dr baby Boy. Well, doctor baby Boy, does h you know,
last week we talked about he has this mental uh
awareness run and uh he's been he had been practicing
it because you know, Bruce been beating ever since he
came up with the run. He's been he been losing
the bruis. And Doctor baby Ball was like little upset

(18:30):
because he's trying to get prepared, and so they had to,
you know, he left the house. Townly know he was
gone because baby Doctor baby Boy remembered that he had
he had this run to do. So he gets to
the run and and and so the run is going
and and and Bruce is in and had Bruce's beating
him and stuff, and doctor baby Boy's behind him. And

(18:50):
so then doctor Bruce looked back behind him and doctor
baby Boy is on his big wheel he had, he
had his big wheel ports in the weeds. He jumped on.
He was taking behind Boots and he still doesn't kidding.
Boot still beat Dr Baby Boy on his faith will.
So doctor baby didn't even stay to the rest. He
broke wrote home and stuff it. And so my sister

(19:11):
low you know, I love to call her name Pound boys,
she gets home. Y'all got gonna believe this because I
don't even blieve Doctor baby By must have went somewhere
and picked up a couple of chickens. You're talking about
live chickens. And he told his wife, I'm gonna beat
Bruce next week, I mean next year, because I'm gonna

(19:31):
start Chasey the chicken around the yard. And if my
sister I say you can't, we can't. We can't have
chickens in the back yard. Doctor Marry Boy, he said, no,
we're gonna have these chickens because I'm gonna say silver
until I make sure that next year when I raised
my brother brother Bruce, these chickens gonna get me for pride,
and I'm gonna beat him, you know. So I just
want y'all know if y'all, if y'all hear about some

(19:53):
chickens up and up up around a five year, you
know you'll know those chickens belong the doctor baby Boy.

Speaker 3 (19:59):
Right.

Speaker 1 (20:00):
All right, we're just stateful, we're thankful that we can
we can joke my brother. He doesn't get offended. He
laughed about it and stuff. But but we've been ready
to get serious because of the fact that you know,
we titled this God will see you through g I
t a God is the auncer. That's what I always

(20:21):
try to send out every morning. And and my brother
Makill Makia does this. He today he knows about all
his all his accolades and and how people have looked
at him. But but I want him to be able
to talk about it by the God in his life. See,
because I'm gonna let him tell you how we met
because I'm and I'm doing this also because people can

(20:44):
know that God let me meet him for a number
of reasons. First of all, to introduce him to the
killing of his man revolution no pencil, no paper, no calculator,
and it helped him and where he was at the
school that it may show smelling. And since then here
and I prayed and and I'm gonna let him take
it up from now because I want, I want to,

(21:05):
I want you to hear him talk about the goodness
of God. So come with the dougness. Thank you, mister
douglan's once again for being on the podcast with my
brother and TJ. And I mean we could we could
get on here and talk about all the things that
you have accomplished. But you and I and Bruce and
TJ know and Vally know that all accomplishments that you

(21:27):
made would not have happened if somebody had to introduce
you to Jesus Christ. So, yes, sir, so you just
you open up any way you want to missus Douglas,
any way you want to open up, But please tell
them how we met.

Speaker 3 (21:40):
Yes, yes, sir, Good afternoon everyone.

Speaker 1 (21:43):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (21:43):
Nickia Douglas UH, proud son of Saraph Dallas. Uh. Brother
Kenneth Ever and I met uh when I was transitioning.

Speaker 1 (21:58):
And y'all hear me, yes, can hear you?

Speaker 3 (22:01):
Can y'all hear me?

Speaker 1 (22:03):
Yeah, we see you?

Speaker 2 (22:04):
Okay.

Speaker 1 (22:05):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (22:05):
Brother Everett and I met when I was Princeville at
May Maysell Smith High School. I'm a proud son of
South Dallas, born and raised, graduated from Lincoln High School,
attended Livingstone College in Salisbury, North Carolina, UH, and major
in elementary d And during that season of my leadership,
I transitioned from being a classroom teacher to becoming campus administrator.

(22:31):
I previously taught kender in North Carolina, moved back to
Dallas talk first and fourth grade in South Dallas at
Martin Luther King Learning Center. I left again with the
Central Texas began my administrative career in Georgetown and in Flugerville.
I moved back to Dallas again, back to my old
neighborhood of South Dallas. I was an assistant principal at
Charles Rice UH and at the ripe old age of

(22:53):
twenty nine, got my first principalship, which was Mayor Jackson
Mayor Jackson Vanguard School. I was there for two years
that Hurricane Katrina head. We had the influx of families
that moved here from Louisiana, and we closed the elementary
school and became middle school. So I became the principal
of Manor Jackson Middle School and then after a year,

(23:15):
I was asked to go to the high school, which
was a Mahl Smith High School. So I followed an
exemporary principle of Manor Jackson, started a new middle school
and then was going into amfl Smith doing turnaround work
for a campus that unfortunately was struggling academically at that time.
In doing so, not only poured into the staff and

(23:36):
the students and the parents, but had to find those
key community partners. And one of those community partners I
was blessed to meet was Brother Everett. With this no paper,
no pencil program. It changed not only my thoughts about
what math is, but more importantly, it changed the thoughts
and the beliefs of what math is and what it

(23:58):
could be for those kids. And to see those young
men and young women light up by the liberation of
their mind and the reigniting of their heel steps that
had been laying dormant for years, it was powerful. It
was transformative. So much so within a three year span
we averaged twenty point games across the board, not only

(24:20):
in math but also in the English Land magarits and
our signed scores and social study scores. That was a
unique season also for me in meeting Brother Evart, because
not only was I growing professionally, I was also growing
spiritually and personally as well. My wife and I went
through a season of loss of kids. We lost two

(24:42):
sets of twins consecutively in two thousand and eight in
two thousand and nine, and I needed people around me
that were believer us. I needed people around me that
to kind of fill those gaps for me as a leader.
And to have had that mo with Brother Everett where
we were not only working professionally from an academic perspective

(25:06):
for those kids, it even meant more. And that's why
our relationship has last as long as it has, or
what we how we've grown both personally as men, as
cousins and as fathers. And so I know that was
a lot to say in regards to how we meant uh,
But it was a different season. So when you would
you were talking about Sister Jordan's message of the storm

(25:26):
and keeping your eye up in the midst of the storm.
I was in the season of a storm. But God
knows whood and what took place in your lives at
different times. And that's been my experience with Brother Everett. Hey, God,
you know when we when we when I think about you, missus,

(25:46):
I saw your spirit. Man.

Speaker 1 (25:48):
So why did this relationship with God come?

Speaker 2 (25:51):
Man? Man?

Speaker 1 (25:51):
I mean because because that's what drew me to you.
I mean, that was the that was the that was
the hook in my mouth because I could see your spirit,
I could see your kindness, to see how much he
was concerned about the children. Where did all I mean,
where did your relationship with God started to just become
real for you?

Speaker 3 (26:09):
The beautiful part about relationships with God is even though
we may not be connected to him, He's always connected
to us right, and sometimes we just got to set
those which is own to understand and recognize that all
I had to do was hit the light. I'll say
it was embedded within me as a kid. The reason
I'm on my phone right now. I just left an

(26:31):
event with my elementary classmates. We hadn't some of us
hadn't seen each other since eighty eight eighty nine when
we left City Temple Junior Academy, which was a Seventh
Day eventing school. I'm not a seventh Day inventinge, so
I was always called a non bridge campus I mean student.
But what I remember vividly about that time was that

(26:52):
it was a faith based campus and we learned scripture
and we were, you know, totally immersed in it on
top of our education and reflecting back over it, you know,
a lot of people ask me what my mindset came.
My mindset actually started there from an academic perspective, but
I just hadn't connected it as spiritually as I should have.

(27:12):
I wasn't as mature as I need to be spiritually.
And so when I continued to matriculate through school, from
leaving City Temple to going to Lincoln to eventually living
Stone in North Carolina. I had those moments with God
where my dad wasn't in the house. So I used
to wonder, you know why God would allow that to happen.
You know, I'm first gin So I always wondered, well,

(27:34):
you know why God put that burden on me with
my family of carrying that raised by you know, single mom.
You know God again, now we're gonna figure this out,
that the struggles are real. And so I went through
more seasons of questioning whether God was real before I
got to a point where you met me in my
early maturity, Brother Effort. But I'll say specifically August twenty,

(28:01):
nineteen ninety nine, although my father wasn't in the house,
I would always had a relationship. Wherever I would come home,
I'd spend time with him. And my dad had a stroke.

Speaker 4 (28:12):
He had a stroke.

Speaker 3 (28:12):
I was twenty fifth. I made it home on August
twenty ninth, and when I walked into the hospital room,
my mom was by his side. He couldn't speak, a
tear fell out of his eye, and I made the
decision to come home.

Speaker 2 (28:23):
But that was.

Speaker 3 (28:25):
An understanding after finding my faith about a month prior to.
But so technically, when brother ever met me and I
still laugh to this day. I'm doing three things that
I said I'd never do. I said, I never moved
back to Dallas. I said I never get married. And
I said, if I stayed in education, be late for
in his early fifties, before I went into administration, found

(28:46):
my faith again to come home and take care of
my dad, who left when I was four. While taking
care of him back here in Dallas, actually met my wife.
Will celebrate twenty four years on July fourteenth, and twenty
seven years as an educator.

Speaker 2 (29:02):
And.

Speaker 3 (29:04):
And you make last God last twenty three of those
has been as an administrator. And so when we're learning
to be faithful, when we're learning to be obedient, you know,
you have a different walk, you have a different understanding
that God has been seeing me through all this. And
I was disconnected to him from a spiritual perspective, but
he was always connected to me spiritually. And when I

(29:26):
was open and willing and ready to recognize that this
guy's been the limit ever since, Lord, wow, Wow. You know,
you know what really amazes me is the fact that,
like I told my producer that I wanted the podcast
to be as g I t ain't God his duncer.

(29:46):
But her spirit must have moved on her to have
the real topic of it. God will see you through.
And here you are now you are having this talking
about God.

Speaker 1 (29:59):
Was you through? What?

Speaker 2 (30:02):
What a blessing?

Speaker 1 (30:03):
I tell you. And and and one of the things
that I want to do, missus Douglas, is that because
TJ and Boost and we know how we like to acknowledge.
When you said, when you said you've been married to
twenty four years, man, I just want you to give
a shout out to your wife because you know for
twenty four years. You know you you gotta you gotta,

(30:24):
you gotta bring up in the pictures because you say
you won't get married. You want.

Speaker 2 (30:31):
Yeah, my.

Speaker 3 (30:33):
Wife, Gloria Douglas. Uh, that's a tall tail. And again
being obedient to God. I was in my old neighborhood
and uh teaching at Martin Luther King Learning Center. And
when my first day on the job, I've been teaching
kindergarten in North Carolina.

Speaker 2 (30:48):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (30:48):
And again how God does things. When I left North
Carolina twenty nine kids, I did have a t A
and then I come to Dallas. Everything my dad needs
to learn from his stroke, I taught her as a
garden teacher. So I went from a class of twenty
nine to one teacher student ratio from a class to
one to one. From working, my dad's find motor skills.
So everything he needed in regards to what I could

(31:11):
do at home, I was able to provide by the
skill sets of God that provided me. As I was
going through my training and development as a teacher. And
when my money got funding, my change got strange. I
had to go back to work. And so I said,
if I'm going back to work, I want to go
back to my old neighborhood. If I made it out,
I want to show others that they can make.

Speaker 2 (31:30):
It out and sold.

Speaker 3 (31:31):
The school that I was able to privilege to work
at was Martin Luther King Learning Center. When I get there,
you know, I'm meeting the staff and you know, giving
my students and everything, and so I'm working with the
kids and I would be out there after school and
I noticed this beautiful young lady, you know, standing outside. Well,
for the longest, I was just real cordial with her
because I had a bad experience with one of my

(31:52):
peers that I dated in North Carolina, and so I'd
always told my Homeboys. From that point forward, I'll never
date anybody that I worked with. Yeah, one Friday afternoon,
one of our coworkers was like, you are both single,
you don't have kids, y'all have beautiful spirits, y'all should
at least go to a dollar movie. That dollar movie
turned into Dave and Bussers, and twenty four years later,

(32:15):
was still going strong. And she loves me inside of
the dreams that I've always had. But more importantly, she
loves and real firms the face that I have in God,
and so everything that I am and all that I
am at this point in my life, I totally contribute
not only to the foundation that you know, my mother
and the others build, but more important, my relationship with
God through my wife.

Speaker 1 (32:37):
Wow, man, you know, before TJ start crying, I gotta
let him say some man, because I know you. You well,
you're in the whole run with DJ and Bruce both you.

Speaker 2 (32:49):
So I'm gonna just TJ man, go ahead, DJ Douglas,
Mister Douglas, mister Douglas, I'm going to take maybe about
means to relive what you just told me. This is
what your testimony has said. It started off with God
is in control. God is very much in control. God

(33:13):
is the answer. Mister Douglas introduced. He introduced us to
his South Dallas experience when he was growing up. He
introduced us to his experience in South Dallas. When he
went back, he wanted to always go back and be
a part of where he grew up. He always had

(33:35):
He said that several times, and you'll see it in
some of this, uh, some of this information. He started
off by being I think a possible at Lincoln High School.
He was a teacher, and then he was in the administration,
and he carried his His entire career was in is

(33:55):
still in education, even if his element it was in
the elementary school, middle school, and principal. And then when
he was doing his principal doing his principalringing. I think
that's when he met Tolard and then he said there
he said, you know what, all of these experiences changed
my outlook on life and especially mad when I met

(34:22):
mister Tolar, A big change and a big growth. He said,
I needed people with the love of God in my life.
I was in a I was in a severe storm,
and however I had God in my life. And God

(34:43):
is always keeping up. You know what, He keeps up
with us. Even when we might not keep up with him.
He never stopped loving us. We might forget him, but
he never forgets us. He found. He found that to
be exception for him. He thought he wasn't the only one.

(35:08):
He said something about nineteen o nine, and that's when
God really appeared and really started telling me and showing
me things. I had some nervedness, but God, but God
showed me the way over. He showed me how to

(35:35):
get over doing these things, get overdoing the things that
were good for me. God will see you through, he said,
I think I believe. About the age of twenty four
years of marriage, he realized that God was still blessing me.
He still blessing me through with my wonderful wife. I

(35:58):
loved working in my my old neighborhood. And you know what,
that's why I'm in My wife was in the old hood.
And he said, she loves me. And he said, and
when I'm saying, he said, I'm talking about mister Douglas.
He said, Look, this is the one I really like.

(36:19):
He said, My wife is my life. And I know
I can, I can, I can just really imagine how
much you would believe and trust in your wife to
be your life. Because I've been married now about sixty
three years, and I can I guess I can say

(36:40):
that now my wife is my life and I made
I might make some changes, but I won't change my
life and I won't change my wife. Wow. Okay, oh,
mister Douglas. Douglas, you're very fortunate to have a husband

(37:02):
like mister Douglas. And mister Douglas, it seems like you've
been blessed to have a wife like missus Douglas. God
is good. God is the one that we should always
depend on. We could always depend on him. We might
forget him sometime. I like you the way you said
that we might forget God sometimes, but God never forgets us.

(37:24):
And you're right about that. Thank you, mister Douglas. I
appreciate you. Man.

Speaker 3 (37:29):
Yes, sir, yes, sir, yes, And just one correction. I
wasn't the principal at Lincoln. I was a student at Lincoln,
and those are my route, yes, sir, yes, the lead
of a doctor Napoleon B. Lewis, it was transformative. Okay,
all right, y f yeah, misgas uh, I thought, uh

(38:01):
proverbs who find the good paying faith with the Lord,
and we know faith your relationship with her, you have
favor with the Lord. And and it's all about we
know others that that are laws or or struggling. And

(38:21):
what you said, I mean today can help someone that
perhaps h exact for wherever they are and.

Speaker 1 (38:36):
Environment may be, God can use you. And and I
know that God is with you because you're about others
said bless God had directed you and you in the
can that you wanted to come back the whe you
and and you're we're that you wanted to come back

(38:57):
and help others in fact Dallas where you and that's
that's tell us a lot about and and your compassion
from others and in your relationships. You talked about the
loss of twins. You're that's that's that's that's the end

(39:21):
up leading someone in the long election man or a
bit angry or helping. But but but you didn't I mean,
and and look as you're now, you're still moving forward
with the help of our heaven of honor. And can
you talk about your dad not getting in your life?

(39:42):
And that's that's something else can can appeal to or
or resume with. Someone else said, perhaps your dad is not.

Speaker 2 (39:49):
In your life. Mhm.

Speaker 1 (39:51):
But this man still moved forward even uh after his father,
I mean had a he still had compassion, he still
had law for his father. He didn't have that. My
father wasn't in my life, So I'm not going to
be in his life in this time of need.

Speaker 4 (40:12):
That's God in his life. And that's what the that's
what he tried to appeal to.

Speaker 1 (40:21):
Others. It's quite your relationship with the regardless of what's
going on in your life or or you thought as
though that you've been wrong, then you want to get
paid back if you No, No, it's not a plan.
It's about loving your neighbor as yourself. Yeah, and that's

(40:42):
the things that you achieve is great, these worldly recognitions
over so, but missus and I know he realizes this
is a relationship rather help the WANs that are lost.
And we know that there's a lot or lost. We

(41:05):
know based on him being in we know that he saved,
Thank you Jesus, a lot of people, a lot of kids,
putting them in the right direction.

Speaker 4 (41:15):
God brought you had told heart together for a reason.
It's brought people closer to our heavenly posts. And that's
what's the current and that's why you're on this podcast.
Thank you Jesus helping others that are struggling to listen.
And it was I don't see one individual. You hear

(41:36):
what mister Douglass is saying, the trials and look at
the success that he has.

Speaker 1 (41:44):
No thank you says. I know things on what I'm
hearing from me, it's not that's great, but he's trying
to help others. What he's achieved, you can achieve, film
the things if you just put your trust in him.
Don't get caught up.

Speaker 2 (42:01):
It's world.

Speaker 4 (42:02):
Thanks again of the Stoics for being on the podcasts.

Speaker 3 (42:06):
Yes, sir, thank him. You know, I like people had
one additional point in regards to sometimes when in the
midst of those tests, I get excited when I hear
about people that are going through challenging times because your
tests becomes your testimony, and with those testimonies, it gives
you opportunities to grow closer in your relation to God,

(42:28):
but more importantly your walk with God. And so after
leaving al Smith, you know that that newfound confidence for
more importantly, that deeper relationship with God.

Speaker 1 (42:41):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (42:41):
That was a part of my transition into that season
of tests led to another season of blessing where we
found the Barack Obama bal Leadership Academy and to see
where those young men are today, what they've accomplished, and
going from there to the executive director for the Feeder
Pattern and then eventually uh to hoigh Ed at UNT
Dallas and helping to develop the Trio on pre collegiate

(43:04):
programs and now leading nonprofit. So your test becomes a testimony,
but also your pain becomes your purpose. I hated going
to private school as a kid, but now once I
accepted my call, and as an educator as a kindergarten teacher,
I was thankful of the sacrifices that my mom made
for my sister and I to attend that private school.

(43:25):
And so I always prided myself in offering a private
school education at a public school costs for all of
my kids. And so going back to where I was
initially before the call, it all had a purpose. I
didn't like it, I didn't understand it. It was uncomfortable.
I was disconnected spiritually. But once I reconnected, I understood

(43:46):
my purpose and it gave me a direction and allowed
me to step continue to step out on face, step
out on that water. But I always kept my eyes
stayed on God to our guide and lead the work
that I've been a.

Speaker 1 (43:58):
Privileged to do. Hey many many man, Well you come boy,
you fishing for us in the Douglas you visit for
us today? I mean, how your eyes and missus Douglas.
I want you to. I want you to shout about
the young lady that you told me about that you
had to go to high school and she recognized you.

(44:19):
I'm gonna let you just take picking up from that, Misduglan.

Speaker 3 (44:23):
Yes, sir, so in my new season of this work
that I do with the Dallas Education Collective, I won't
say that everybody's being open to it.

Speaker 1 (44:31):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (44:32):
And so even just to transition mysel uh him self.
Anytime I accept any new or consider any new roles.

Speaker 2 (44:38):
My wife and I pray.

Speaker 3 (44:41):
But I also go into a season of fast and
and it just so happened the story that brother Evert
is talking you all about.

Speaker 1 (44:47):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (44:47):
I had a tough morning that morning and I was
going in to see.

Speaker 2 (44:51):
A new doctor. Uh.

Speaker 3 (44:52):
I was familiar with the doctor because he was actually
four years older than me in uh school. But I
go get it to the lobby and the lead nurse
that's calling everybody back. I look and I see her,
and I was like, man, she looks familiar, and so
I look away and not trying to stare. And she
comes out again and I see her getting another patient.

Speaker 2 (45:12):
I look out.

Speaker 3 (45:12):
Was like, man, she looks so familiar. I said, I
don't know, you know, did I work with her or
you know where I passed cross third person she comes
to get She says, are you mister Douglas. I said yes,
She said leading the kid a Douglas. I said yes,
and she says, I am because of you. And I
look at her and I was like Alandria Harvey. She said,

(45:34):
you taught us as an early age that science is
cool for girls, just like reading it should be cool
for boys. And she said, I fell in love with
science and I wanted to become a nurse and to
see one of my former students. I used to always
joke with the staff. I was like, one day we're
gonna get old, but we want to be able to
look up and see a nurse or a doctor and

(45:55):
know how they were trained and you know the student
that they were. God gave me that moment in the
midst of a storm. That reminded that, hey, you've been
planting seeds and now your harvest is coming and you're
gonna read the benefits not only for others, but also
for yourself. So in this time of anxiousness and this
time of self doubt and loss of faith, let me

(46:19):
remind you that I strengthen you for this very moment,
for this season, and if you keep your eyes stayed
on me, you're gonna be successful in this next season.
Because our God doesn't feel And that was his reminder
that moment of my weakness that He's strong and everything.
And he just gave me that reminder for a young
lady that I was heard Elementary of Middle and our

(46:40):
high school principal from MANA Jackson to Man of Jackson
Middle to amhl Smith.

Speaker 1 (46:46):
Wow, you know many Christmas. That's why that's why you
own this podcast, you know, because when we met, it's
because God is I mean president, he's the past president
of He knew in the future I was gonna have
a podcast, my brother On and t j On. But
y'all told you, missus, if you was gonna be on

(47:07):
the podcast too, you got you got because what you're
talking about, you you are echoing with Bruce and TJ
and myself talk about this time every Sunday. Man, you
you elching in, mister Douglas say, and here's the thing,
here's the thing that is really a blessing for me,
mister Douglas, is that I know about all your accolades

(47:28):
and stuff, but this podcast gives you an opportunity to
brag on Jesus. It gives you it gives you an
opportunity to brag on Jesus. And and that's the thing
that I that I love more than anything that a
lot of times, you know when we're out in the
public that I don't want to you ain't talking, ant
want to talk. They want to talk about this that that.
But you got a chance to come on this podcast

(47:50):
today and talk nothing but about Jesus Man and his
dousiness and and and so um, I'm gonna let t J,
t J. I'm gonna gie a couple of minutes, okay,
just thinking in boost a couple of minutes, and then
we're gonna're gonna try to wrap it up. So mister
get out here on three thirty and do what y'all
he has gone because I'm just I'm just ill, the deafy,
he put out, He took out the time to be

(48:12):
on the poet.

Speaker 2 (48:13):
Yes, yes, miss mister Douglas. Look, I want you to
realize that what you're letting us know, your part of
your testimony today is to let some of us be
reminded that God will put you and will put us
in people lives that might not mean a hell of
beans tom and later on someone in your life will

(48:37):
come to you and say, if it hadn't been for you,
And that's that's the most that's one of the best
feelings that a person can have. And when you were
telling me about this young lady you look for me.
You didn't have an idea, it couldn't quite come to you.
But it was something about this young lady that you knew.

(49:01):
And this lady came up to you and said something
that I've heard maybe a couple of times myself. If
it hadn't been for you, mister Douglas, I don't even
think I would be a nurse now. I don't even
think I would be in this field now. But you
made it possible for me to start believing in myself.
You taught me that it was important that I learned

(49:23):
mad You taught me that it was important that I
would learn these different subjects. And you know what, You
made a difference in my life, mister Douglas. And right
now you're making a difference in a number of people, Eyves,
because your testimony is letting people know that. Look, you
may think what you want to think, but this is

(49:45):
one thing that I want you to know. You can't fail.
If you have God in your life, you're not going
to fail. He doesn't believe in letting people fail. He
doesn't believe in letting us be unsuccessful. He doesn't believe
in not letting us be happy. He wants us to
be the best. He wants us to have the best.

(50:08):
And if we continue to keep Him in our lives,
then one day somebody might walk up to you and say,
if it hadn't been for you, I wouldn't be where
I am today. So thanks again, mister Douglas. Thank you again. Man.

Speaker 4 (50:25):
Yeah, that's good TJ. And I just thought about what
he was saying. And if you find Jesus, you'll save
your life and you'll save others. As you mentioned about
the the former student and the results of his harvest,

(50:46):
you may be planting planet seeds. And you may have
not seen the hart, but believe me, burs in harvest.
If you're playing those seeds, it's going to produce because
you will. Doesn't think Jesus doesn't fail. And if you're
discouraged at this time and you're going through something, and

(51:08):
as mister Douglas said, this test will become your testimony
and think, think about that, well, what what are you
going through? You're going to have victory. You're going to
have victory. We all have ups and downs in our life,
but God was stricken you no matter what it is.
Just don't be discouraged, be positive, keep the faith, don't

(51:32):
let the faith wavers. The world say you will try
to make you waiver, will make you doubt yourself. But
as long as you're in Christ, Jesus Christ will pace
individuals in your in your life to help you. Just
let as mister Douglas was saying, or with the with
the with the nurse, the former student. He was discouraged,

(51:53):
but not knowing what you need at any particular time,
God is the old time God. Oh, if you're lost
by your life, over Jesus Christ, no matter why you are,
whatever struggles your life over to Jesus, Thank you, you know,

(52:13):
Boots and t J. I mean, I just I always
appreciate how y'all let God use y'all because y'all, y'alln't
even have to think about what you're gonna say. God
just take over and starts speaking for y'all. And for me, that, right,
y'all is that's that's a blessing for me, you know,
because God know how much I'm concerned about making sure

(52:34):
that he sees that that we understand that it's not
about us. You know, BOOST understands that it's.

Speaker 1 (52:39):
Not about him. T J understands that it's not about him.
I understand that it's not about me.

Speaker 2 (52:44):
Good.

Speaker 1 (52:44):
We understand that. And and here we are now with
mister Douglas. Here he understands that it's not about him. Yes,
And he's putting out. He's putting out. He's putting out.
He's constantly putting out. And mister, I can't let you
get out from me with at you saying something to
your two kids. You gotta say some to them because

(53:05):
you mentioned your wife, but you got too. You better
say something about.

Speaker 3 (53:09):
Them, Yes, sir, my son and my daughter Zia and
za Mayah Douglas eleven and twelve year old kids that
represent new beginnings, that represent healing, that represent God's faithfulness.
So I talked briefly about our time at the may

(53:31):
Share losing kids, and for seven years my wife and
I actually were in seasons of grieving, but they represent
that new beginning. They came into our forever family nine
years ago and changed our lives, and so to see
who they are becoming, who they have became, and who
they're going to be in the future is the greatest

(53:51):
gift that I think God could give us. And again,
God is so timely and so perfect when they came
into our lives when I was starting to train transition
from being a campus principal to an executive director to
higher head and now to non profit leadership, and so
God knew that. Probably one of my best friends did
this to me, he says, Man, maybe God didn't give

(54:13):
you those kids at that time because He had to
work for you to do. And now that I look
back over it, that was God's way of talking to
me through my friends, but more importantly, of reminding us
of His faithfulness with Dions and Mighty and Allen Douglas
that are our kids are part of our forever family.

Speaker 2 (54:31):
Forever.

Speaker 1 (54:34):
Hey, now I tell you that that's that right?

Speaker 2 (54:38):
Man?

Speaker 1 (54:39):
Sumns it up? When when when you you you completed
this whole podcast because you you've acknowledged God to the fullest. You,
you've acknowledged your wife to the fullest, and now you
thank God for the two children that you that you
have even though you lost two sets between you are

(55:00):
deal so thankful to God for the two to two have. Man,
I mean, if anybody listen to this podcast and you
and you ain't trying Jesus, like BOUTH and TJ always say,
some loved with this, this is no one is the month.
You know this? He is no one is month. So
maybe we needed you need to be checked in because
after hearing the testimony from mister Douglas and and and

(55:21):
and and hearing how he is so thankful that he
gets a chance to have an opportunity to talk about
Jesus Christ, we he came here to talk. And I'm thankful,
and I know Bruce is thankful, and I know too
is thankful, and mister Douglas, We're just so thankful. And
I want to thank you mister Douglas personally you know

(55:43):
how much I care about you man, and and for
you to be excited about coming on this podcast. And now,
miss Douglas, you can tell people if you want to
know how much I'm in love with Jesus, just go
to the care how you fort your radio and you
can hear me talk about Jesus. What you will be
able to do is to let them know how much
you know. You ain't got to sit down and talk

(56:03):
to them or own on on. Hey, just go listen.
I pulled out my heart and I thank you, mister
Douglas for pouring out your heart for Jesus. Chriss man
want what a blessing is. And so we're thankful and thankful.
And once again, about two minutes after the podcast, I'm
gonna come on and talk about why why algebra is
important to our children and it's important to anyone now

(56:25):
because a lot of people are gonna be changing their
careers because of what's going on. You may decide to
be a nurse or something like that. You better have,
you better have your elgible background, you better be prepared.
So I'm gonna take out that time for about twenty
to thirty minutes to talk about it and just let
you know that you need to sign up on my program.
Uh And we're gonna talk about to then, but we're
gonna end this because this podcast right now is about

(56:49):
Jesus Christ. Is about Jesus Christ. So Bruce, thank you,
brother Bruce, for for what you contribute every every Sunday. Man,
thank you mister Jefson, which you contribute every Sunday. And
we also have to always thank Valids for making sure
that that we're up and running. She's always making sure
that we're up and running. And then uh ms Juggins man,

(57:10):
thank you for for how you have not changed since
I've been knowing you. Your seriity has been the same
every time I see you. I don't know who. I
don't know who laughs the most or who smile the most,
but we running, We running, Nick and Nick here running
nicking neck man, he laughing, I'm laughing. You start love knowledge.

(57:30):
But that's that's the way God's people are have. They
all have peace and job when they see each other.
It should be just a celebration every time you see
someone that has that relationship with God and that we
have them. So once again you can you can come
on this podcast I mean, you can listen to podcasts
every Sunday two thirty to three thirty Central Sunday time.
But next Sunday is Father's Day, and we're gonna make

(57:53):
sure that t J having great grandkids and Bruce having
kids and I got kids, and that just like we
did for the mother, we're gonna we're gonna show our
own self from time too to ourselves time, so we
ain't allowed on podcasts. And uh, mister mister Douglas, we
wishing you a happy Father's Day. Yeah, same with brus
and TV that were wishing that to you. And and remember,

(58:15):
if anybody want to support the podcast, just go to
Kuri Portrand radio dot com and go to go to
where it has support and cook on the button. Just
support us well whatever amounts you want. But we're gonna
be here and we're gonna keep fishing or so. And
once again this tell us every tune you to Lord
Bunny for show and to some of y'all toe visions.

(58:39):
We're gonna be back in a couple of weeks. And
and next the week we come back, we're gonna have
a guesst that that died on a Friday and God
bunning back on a Sunday. True star, you got got
he got shot and he was dead from Friday to Sunday,
and then brought him back. And he is willing to
tell his testimony this in two weeks, two or three weeks.

(59:00):
I think we're gonna have him, mom. But but we
were thankful. Once again. Y'all have a blessed Sunday. And
remember we don't always know that. Just give God a chands.

Speaker 2 (59:09):
Just like Bruce.

Speaker 1 (59:10):
They said, y'all beal with tens, Thank you, Doug. It
all right, y'all there a couple of minutes, we'll be
back off. All right, then take coming dogess all right, Yeah,
let God and let let go and let God have
his way in your life.

Speaker 4 (59:23):
Praise the Lord.

Speaker 1 (59:23):
That's it. Thank you, bruth and man and man, thank you,
Thank you Jesus, Thank you Jesus.

On Purpose with Jay Shetty

On Purpose with Jay Shetty

I’m Jay Shetty host of On Purpose the worlds #1 Mental Health podcast and I’m so grateful you found us. I started this podcast 5 years ago to invite you into conversations and workshops that are designed to help make you happier, healthier and more healed. I believe that when you (yes you) feel seen, heard and understood you’re able to deal with relationship struggles, work challenges and life’s ups and downs with more ease and grace. I interview experts, celebrities, thought leaders and athletes so that we can grow our mindset, build better habits and uncover a side of them we’ve never seen before. New episodes every Monday and Friday. Your support means the world to me and I don’t take it for granted — click the follow button and leave a review to help us spread the love with On Purpose. I can’t wait for you to listen to your first or 500th episode!
