Speaker 1 (00:01):
Knock, knock. Hey, I'm guessing you're my new roommate. Oh great,
it's so nice to meet you. I am so looking
forward to us getting to know each other, and this
is going to be our little sanctuary, so I cannot

(00:23):
wait to get it all spruced. Oh and it looks
like it needs it. I mean, it's so thoughtful that
the university tries to provide some basic furnishings for the RUMs.
But wow, this place looks like thrift shop. Huh. This

(00:49):
rug looks like it's from the nineteen seventies. My gosh,
these colors hurt my brain. Oh my god. And do
you see stains on it? Oh? Oh? In that bedding
they put on your bed, Oh my god, it looks

(01:09):
so awful and yep, scratchy as all hell. I bet
you'll be glad when you unpack your own stuff and
can get rid of all this. Huh. So weird they
only made your bed though, maybe they ran out of time.
Oh and yikes, this lamp, it looks like it's from

(01:34):
the Dollar store. I wonder if it's even safe. Yeah,
I am definitely calling down to the front desk. We'll
get this gross stuff removed asap. So we can start
unpacking our own things. I wonder if they have bell
hops at college. Wait, I'm sorry, what did you just say, oh, oh,

(02:07):
this is your stuff? Oh well, that's when I said
thrift shop. I didn't mean like I meant like a
really cool vintage store, you know, like where you can

(02:28):
get super cool old I'm sorry, I'm sorry. I've just
ever seen this kind of style. It's really interesting and

(02:49):
it must be sentimental. You know, everybody likes different stuff.
Oh you don't like it either. Oh that's relief. But
if you don't like it either, then why do you

(03:11):
have it? Oh? Oh that's all you can afford. Oh well,
to be completely honest, I've never really met anyone who

(03:38):
can't afford. Well, they say that in college. That's when
you branch out of your own little world and you
meet people who aren't like you. So it's nice to
meet you. Sorry if I insulted your stuff, But hey,

(04:03):
actually some of this is kind of cool. I mean
this art you hung up, that's pretty awesome. Did you
draw that really? Wow? Well that's pretty cool. You're really talented. Yeah,

(04:28):
I mean my parents collect art, and this is way
better than half the stuff they get. The one thing
I'd say, Well, you just kind of taped it to
the wall, and while the art itself is incredible, it

(04:49):
really is, it's just what about if I framed it? Yeah,
we could go to a store leader and pick out
a really nice frame worthy of your drawing, and it'll
just look nicer, you know. Like I said, I think

(05:11):
we're gonna have so much fun getting to know each other.
Oh and hey, you're gonna like this. Mm hmmm, I
snug something in. Don't tell anybody it's mini fridge. Yeah,

(05:34):
I know, I know they're not allowed on campus, but
between you and I, my parents have donated literally millions
to this university. So it'll take a lot more than
a contraband mini fridge to get me in trouble. Well,

(05:55):
I need it for my skincare. Yeah, there is nothing
more refreshing than applying a nice cold face mask after
a long day. You're welcome to take them any time too.
I have all kinds of serums and lotions. Oh. No,

(06:16):
skincare is important for everyone, young, old guys and girls,
especially during the day. I'll train you, yet, I'm going
to make sure you never leave in the morning without
at least some SPF on your face if I have
to apply it myself. Well it's preventative. Yes, oh yeah,

(06:46):
it is expensive, but we can't afford not to. And well,
when your parents own the skincare company, trust me, it's
no big deal. Okay, I'll stop preaching. I just I'm
passionate about skincare. What can I say. It's in my blood.

(07:12):
Oh yeah, but the fridge, so it's minni. But it's
a big minnie. I'll even give you your own shelf
as long as you don't let anything rot or get
nasty in there. But oh, I brought some amazing artisanal

(07:34):
snacks for my snack shells. Mm hmm. I have some
beautiful spreads, pate olive, tompinade, a stable, some caviar jars,
and oh my god, amazing cheeses from the cheese shop.
Oh you like cheese, all right? It's our first thing

(07:58):
in common. See we're the same on the inside. Yeah.
I can't wait for us to have late night snacking
sessions where we're talking about everything under the sun and
we'll sing working on the night cheese. Oh my god,

(08:21):
you love that show too. See second thing in common.
I have a feeling we're going to be best friends. Oh,
but can I give you a first best friend present
right now? Well, I feel really bad about you sleeping

(08:43):
on that scratchy bed tonight. I brought a second set
of sheets and blankets for mine, you know, for when
I get laundry service. But i'd love to gift it
to you. Yeah. It's a nice down comforter and silk
sheets and pillowcase. The silk is way kinder to your

(09:05):
skin than whatever fabric that is. Trust me, you'll sleep
like a baby. Okay, it's settled. It's my gift to you. Oh,
I'm sure you'll think of something to repay me with.
Are you any good at back massage? Okay, then it's

(09:28):
an even trade. I'll redeem it later. Thank you. You
know what, I think I'm gonna put my clothes away.
I'm just dying thinking about them all wrinkling in my suitcase.
I brought a steamer, of course, but I still don't

(09:48):
want them to get damaged in there. Yes, this is
a real Luviton. Well, their bags last for like ever.
They're really well made. Okay, So let's see how big
this closet is. Okay, so it looks like you started

(10:11):
to unpack. I can leave this side of the closet
for you and I'll try to fit all my stuff
on this side. What you you are fully unpacked? You
mean these are all your clothes? Roomy? There's a pair

(10:35):
of pants and three shirts? Well, where are all your
shoes and coats and more pants and shirts and stuff?
You're gonna be here all year? Why didn't you bring?

(10:56):
Oh that's all you have? Oh okay, look so so
I am really excited right now. Yeah, because one thing

(11:19):
you'll get to know about me is shopping is my passion. Yeah.
And my other passion is a makeover. Yes, I literally
live for makeovers. And you already look so great. You

(11:42):
totally do. You are pulling off those ripped jeans and
that band T shirt like nobody's business. Very ninety chic.
I love it. But you're gonna need some more options more.
You know, we might get invited to some parties that

(12:05):
we're gonna want to dress up for a bit, and
at the very least, when it starts getting colder, you're
gonna freeze. So what are you doing tomorrow? Well? I
propose that you let me take you on a shopping spree.

(12:30):
Oh my gosh, come on, It'll be so fun, and really,
you'd be doing me a favor. I don't know anyone
on campus yet. You're literally my best friend here so far,
and I want to go shopping. Come on, do it

(12:54):
for me. I'll be your best friend. Oh please. My
parents never look at my credit card bill as long
as I keep it under ten k month. They are
so no questions asked. Really, so is it a date? Hey?

(13:22):
This is Lacy. Thank you so much for listening. I
really appreciate it. I just thought this would be a
cute story to write, because I don't have a lot
of stories that are just friendships. I think I want
to write more of them. I remember how scared I
was meeting my first roommate in college, and she actually

(13:43):
turned out to be really nice, but I just remember
the fear I had because I was like, oh my god,
I'm going to be like living in this tiny box
with a random stranger and I hope that they're nice.
And so I was just trying to think of, like
what the I deals scenario could be. I mean, it's
not ideal obviously, if you don't like have the things

(14:05):
you need. But I was just trying to like think
you know, world's colliding kind of a thing. And like
if someone that you were living with was so different
from you, like if they were like really kind like
this and like wanted to be your best friend and
like wanted to help and like share and all this stuff.
To me, this is like it's like a friendship fantasy

(14:27):
or something, not just them being like wealthy obviously, but
just like someone that can see past differences instead of
like you know, just being like ew like, but there's
stuff like you know what I mean, Like she actually
had like she had class, I think, and was like,
you know, she had culture shocked too, but she I

(14:49):
don't know, she just I don't know. I liked her
character and I just wanted to bring it to life
in a story and make a little friendship fantasy. So
help you enjoyed it. Thanks for listen, And I want
to say big, big thank you to everyone in Patreon.
I can't even tell you how much I appreciate you all.
You literally let me continue to do this, like you

(15:12):
put a roof over my head, you put food in
my belly, you put gas in my car, Like you
don't even understand how thankful I am for all of you.
So my heart pours out with gratitude. Thank you, think you,
thank you, And I want to say also thank you
to everyone who hangs out with me all the time
in Discord, in our discord and in the spice Rack Discord,

(15:34):
which is so much fun. We have so much fun
in both, and everyone who's been listening to my stories
over on the podcasting sites as well. So grateful for that.
It's just my biggest fear if this, if this little
social media site ever went away, that like, how would
we ever continue to stay in touch? You know, So

(15:58):
I just like I wanted to put them up there,
so you know, if you subscribe over there or follow
whatever it is like Apple Podcasts, Spreaker on Spotify, all
that stuff, then you know, if anything happens over here,
we'll always get to stay friends. So you see what else?

(16:18):
Oh yeah, my streaming schedule. It's been really fun live
streaming music on Sundays for anyone who doesn't know. I'm
also a singer and I'm so excited. I'm working on
a new original song thanks to so many of you
who donated to my little fundraise or I had on
throne for the next song. Because yeah, it's quite expensive

(16:43):
to make music and so thank you all, so so
so so much for that. I can't even tell you.
I'm so excited. I'm so excited to make more music
and so yeah. And on Sundays, I stream over on
Twitch because you can't sing cover songs on this platform,
but you can sing them up to Witch. And then
on Thursdays, I go live on YouTube. I may start

(17:06):
doing both on YouTube and Twitch on Thursdays, but I don't.
I don't know, but Thursday is going to be like, well,
it has been talking with Future Dance. It's been like
more chill, like like mostly chatting, you know, sometimes like
reacting to like my friends my friends stories, like their

(17:26):
roleplay stories. That was so fun. I was thinking about
even trying to do a cold read of like Reddit
script or something. I'm so scared about it, but I
feel like it would like push me to, like, I
don't know, be a better actress if I could try
figuring out how to like cold read stuff and on
what else, some original songs because I'm allowed to play

(17:49):
those on YouTube and like public domain stuff in a
song written by our friend Baroti, which is so so good.
And yeah, it's just been really fun. I've I forget
whenever I stop streaming for a while, I forget how
much I love it. I just got to sing, guys,

(18:10):
I'm a little birdie. I got to sing or I
get too sad. Anyways, so thank you all for letting
me do what I love, which is voice acting and
singing my little heart out. So I'm just so incredibly thankful.
So anyways, I hope you all are doing amazing, and

(18:31):
let me know in the comments how you're doing and
if you want more like friendship content too, because I
don't know, I feel like that's just as comfy to
me it is. Anyway, I've only done like three or
four friendship ones, but I really liked writing it so
and acting it. So anyways, I I'll stop laughing and

(18:53):
give you a big big hug. Thankscuse all right, I'll
talk to you all soon. Love you bye,
