Speaker 1 (00:00):
What's going on?
Speaker 2 (00:01):
Everybody?
Speaker 3 (00:01):
Welcome to another episode of the Late Night Lakes Show podcast.
Today we got our playback episode recap, just conversation of
the guys talking through the Wizard's Lakers game on January
twenty first, twenty twenty five. We want to thank y'all
for listening Late Night Lake Show.
Speaker 2 (00:16):
Let's get it the Lakers Wizards. So we got a
few things to talk about.
Speaker 4 (00:21):
I mean, obviously, the first order of business is the
DFS injury designation. What almost a month into him being
a Laker, you know, just another day in Lakerland with
the injury reports.
Speaker 2 (00:34):
And yeah, hiding it, not hiding it.
Speaker 4 (00:37):
So apparently this has all been a prolonged rehab stint
working his way back into game shape, which the Lakers
said today, Hey, we're gonna start removing some of those restrictions.
So it's nothing that y'all need to worry about. Ethan,
I guess I'll throw it to you first. That is
that concerning? Is that not concerning? Is this just fucking hilarious?
Speaker 5 (00:58):
I mean, if he plays the whole extra what they say,
like five to seven minutes or something, I mean, if
he plays that extra minutes and it keeps playing those minutes,
and I don't have a problem with it, but if
you know, it turns out two games from now he
ends up sitting and then he started again.
Speaker 2 (01:12):
Off and on.
Speaker 5 (01:13):
I'm gonna be wondering why we even traded him.
Speaker 4 (01:19):
Has anyone seen my man's three point shooting percentage since
joined the Lakers.
Speaker 5 (01:24):
I think I saw a tweet that the show And
what's it down to, like thirty two or something?
Speaker 2 (01:27):
Oh?
Speaker 4 (01:28):
B yeah, yeah, it's it's low to mid thirties right now,
and it's a lot.
Speaker 3 (01:35):
I don't think it gives the volume yet, Let's get
a little more voluable the shots, you know, the bit
the restriction feels crazy.
Speaker 1 (01:45):
I don't I don't know how I feel about that.
But this is this is.
Speaker 3 (01:49):
Right on brand with the Lakers injury staff, and the
report is being who knows, we never get updates on
injured players. There's always some sort of setback. We never
really know what's going on with our players. This feels
very on brand for the last several years. So hopefully
everything's all good and he's just, you know, I guess
working through his ankle injury. I don't know, man, it's
(02:09):
it's this is one of those things are just like,
come on, man, really like you just look and shake
your head and but it feels very on brand. This
is the first time we've heard this, Like I said,
it was the last time we got a Christian would
update today.
Speaker 2 (02:22):
What the update is? There is no update. Nobody knows.
That's the weird part. We literally have heard nothing.
Speaker 1 (02:28):
We have no.
Speaker 5 (02:31):
Like is he doing any basketball? Like is he doing
anything like? Like I see him sit on the bench.
Speaker 4 (02:37):
Yeah, and I was pretty sure he was helping somebody
check out that. That's where we're at, Like, I get it, Christian,
good job, you got him, You got him, and they got.
Speaker 2 (02:50):
To shut him down.
Speaker 5 (02:52):
Got a disabled player, disabled player except that probably because
the medical staff doesn't know, right.
Speaker 2 (02:59):
I was about to say, the Lakers are thinking like that.
Speaker 4 (03:03):
No, they think everybody back in the training room has like,
you know, magic hands and got the MICUs touched everybody
be back in two weeks.
Speaker 5 (03:09):
We'll find out, probably come February or March, he'll get
another surgery.
Speaker 3 (03:15):
Which is gonna be insane. We're gonna sit here wait
for this man to play. Vandal has been ramping up
for like three weeks now. Is he gonna ever sniff
the court, like, where are.
Speaker 2 (03:26):
Just at this point?
Speaker 1 (03:27):
Yeah, I just want to see him on the court
with basketball action.
Speaker 2 (03:30):
Minutes a right, I don't know. I don't have to
both go there for a game action.
Speaker 4 (03:37):
I would probably hope if we If I told you
that both h Vanderbilt and Dory Finnis Smith were Lakers
and we're playing but it they have not made much.
Speaker 2 (03:48):
In fact, you probably would be like, what what that?
What the hell is going on? But here we are.
Speaker 4 (03:55):
You know, I wouldn't necessarily called a vandal the three
and d like dfs is, but they're both on the
defensive end, and we saw what Van Do could do
went healthy against premier offensive players in this league. We're
kind of just sitting with the two cars and both
of them got problems, and it's like, when we get
him fixed though, Hey, that's gonna be a nice little setup,
(04:16):
but right now we.
Speaker 2 (04:18):
Just don't have. Hey, Lebron is hilarious. Man. Why is
his handshake with Ruy bowing too? That's you know, you
know why?
Speaker 3 (04:28):
Man?
Speaker 2 (04:29):
All right?
Speaker 4 (04:29):
Man shout out Roy Ruey got the best job in
America right now. He got he can't do no wrong.
He's uh he's living his LA dream. Shout out to him.
Speaker 3 (04:39):
Yeah, do you think how sad he thinks it's gonna
be for they ship him out of here?
Speaker 1 (04:43):
Seems like he loves l A. Yeah, yes, he's going
up the you know, the La hand joint.
Speaker 2 (04:51):
I know there's Ethan who just signed to the Dodgers.
I don't want I'll follow baseball like that.
Speaker 4 (04:58):
Whoever it was, he was their pregame and he was
teaching him how to throw up the LA sign. I'm
like this, like, he ain't got no problem being the
the mascot of the Lakers right now.
Speaker 2 (05:09):
That's what it feels like, is the Japanese connection right there.
Speaker 5 (05:12):
So well, I mean, I know there was reports like
and it's a Lakers, so people are going to talk
anyway that like they weren't probably going to trade him.
But I'm wondering if they're like kind of trying to
act like to him that they're not going to trade him.
So that way, like he plays as well as he
can play, because he takes like it seems like he's
probably someone that wouldn't play well.
Speaker 2 (05:28):
If he knew. Oh yeah, yeah, he definitely play very
well anyway.
Speaker 1 (05:35):
But I just don't know what he's doing on the court.
Speaker 3 (05:38):
Sometimes I'm just looking like he just seems genuinely confused
out there, and it's it's bad, but he'll be all right.
Speaker 4 (05:46):
Man, it's smirking at his dad doing the crated another
dude that had the same inconsistency problem.
Speaker 1 (05:51):
That's that's fair.
Speaker 2 (05:54):
That's fair, really played the exact same way, Ethan. How'd
you feel? Were you sad we haven't talked since the
d Lo traade.
Speaker 5 (06:01):
I mean, we need, we needed to. I understood that
this kind of random course. I mean I wish the
best of the guys. I like, I wanted that last
shot to go in the other night. I mean I
wanted to win the game, but like I was like, hey,
that'd be nice with that winning for him.
Speaker 2 (06:16):
But obviously as soon as as.
Speaker 5 (06:21):
I wish, it would have been like for a tie
to go to overtime, so we could have hit it
overtime and it would.
Speaker 3 (06:25):
You Yeah, I agree, though trade needed to happen. We
we couldn't let him walk for no assets. We had
to get something. I'm not mad at what we got.
I don't see people feel like we should have probably
made a bigger trade for you know, a bigger player,
a third star type player.
Speaker 1 (06:43):
You know, it's hard to it's hard to know when.
Speaker 3 (06:45):
Again, we feel like there's components of our team that
we still have not seen in like literally a season
and a half now. So it's it's, you know, great
first play Austin, straight turnover brother and.
Speaker 2 (06:59):
The Wizards give it. Right. That's there. We go the.
Speaker 3 (07:01):
Jordan Kuzba fast about the watch for this is gonna
be a nasty basketball game.
Speaker 2 (07:08):
I just get the feeling.
Speaker 4 (07:09):
Yeah, they'll get they'll get a solid twenty four out
of me. And that's that's what y'all right here? Oh
that that was the That was the shoulder that we
was talking about Kwame speaking of which fellas a quick
little side note. We saw that the lovely owner of
(07:31):
the Los Angeles Lakers, Genie Buss, was tweeting today. Oh yeah,
not necessarily about the team, but she was quote tweeting
a new show that's coming out based on it looks like,
loosely her life as the owner of the Lakers.
Speaker 2 (07:52):
Yeah, I should probably pull it up.
Speaker 1 (07:54):
Target demographic for this.
Speaker 4 (07:58):
Probably no like like girl like girl bosses, you know
what I'm saying.
Speaker 5 (08:04):
That's like it might be funny I mean not for Lakers.
Speaker 2 (08:10):
Well, Maxwell, I love to actually with vand and DFS. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (08:19):
Kate Hudson is starring in the Netflix series inspired by
the Laker owners Lot.
Speaker 1 (08:24):
She got a Netflix series, ad get.
Speaker 2 (08:29):
Sure did? I didn't see it.
Speaker 3 (08:30):
I don't get these. Sometimes I wonder what our defensive
assignments are. I think a lot of people do.
Speaker 2 (08:35):
I don't think they know.
Speaker 3 (08:35):
Sometimes I don't think. I genuinely think they have no
idea what they're supposed.
Speaker 2 (08:38):
To be doing.
Speaker 5 (08:38):
You'll see them turn around and like the angry and
confused at each other all night long.
Speaker 3 (08:44):
This is disgusting. Hoops, It's only been two minutes.
Speaker 2 (08:49):
Qu I mean we could easily like get better seats
at a Lakers game at Staples than we could at
the UC.
Speaker 3 (08:57):
Absolutely, yes, the UC is ridiculous for no real reason.
I can never tell you why them tickets are are
as expensive as they.
Speaker 4 (09:07):
Are, like four hundred, four hundred and fifty dollars. I'm
sure at Staples could get me a nice a nice seat,
especially on a random day against the Wizards. Shoot, I
might be where some of them empty seats are good pass.
Speaker 3 (09:24):
It's a good pass. That's the first basket. Wow, three
minutes to scratch on the Wizards.
Speaker 5 (09:30):
You know, I've seen different Patriots games like four hundred bucks,
like it's a really bad team.
Speaker 2 (09:34):
Sometimes you get your court set.
Speaker 1 (09:37):
Really, that's nuts.
Speaker 2 (09:39):
You gotta get a four hundred colt side? Yeah wow,
you know.
Speaker 4 (09:47):
Unfortunately it's usually against like the Grizzlies. Shout out the Grizzlies.
Even like if it's just two small market teams going
against each other, nobody is bringing their family to see
joh yet. But like, I'm sure a Clippers Pacers game,
I can get amazing seats for twelve dollars and fifteen cents,
(10:10):
I'm sure.
Speaker 2 (10:11):
But sometimes I think it's like like one dollar damn
hours before the game to a pause. But that is
a crazy arc on that shot on the pool shot.
Speaker 3 (10:29):
Yeah yeah, I gotta know what does his team need?
What do we what do we really need on this team?
Is there one? Is there one thing that we need?
Is it multiple things? Can we is it on this roster?
Speaker 1 (10:42):
Just injured?
Speaker 2 (10:43):
What?
Speaker 1 (10:43):
What does this team.
Speaker 3 (10:44):
Need to be a successful to you or more successful
than we have been?
Speaker 2 (10:52):
Answer? Isn't that the number one overall pick? Right there?
Speaker 5 (10:55):
No?
Speaker 2 (10:55):
He went to Atlanta two Alex are Okay, yeah, Alex
Starr Yeah Yeah.
Speaker 1 (11:03):
Frenchman is tall.
Speaker 2 (11:05):
Yeah, I think he's seven to one. Yeah, damn shooting threes,
love it.
Speaker 3 (11:10):
That's the new NBA. If you seven for the shooting threes.
Look hout, skinny, that dude is you want him posting up?
Speaker 2 (11:16):
Yes?
Speaker 3 (11:17):
If you're not, If you're not like a middle you're
like a European, like one of the Eastern European dudes.
Speaker 1 (11:23):
You're not.
Speaker 3 (11:24):
You're not playing back to the basket basketball like that.
Speaker 1 (11:29):
It's over.
Speaker 3 (11:30):
I'm sorry. You gotta get with the Eastern Europeans, right,
they got boys. Think of all the think of all
of them in the league, like you got some bonus Nurkic, Jokic, Vucevic,
all the itches.
Speaker 1 (11:43):
They all banged, they all they all banged down low.
Speaker 3 (11:48):
What is all the Frenchmen all want to shoot?
Speaker 1 (11:54):
That's that's what it's looking like.
Speaker 4 (11:56):
Man eighty just shot a three. He just made it too.
I had a boy couch, but no. To answer your question, kwame,
the Lakers need to stop acting like lebron ad is enough.
And I'm not even talking about supportive pieces. It should
(12:18):
not be when you're listing off who the Lakers have.
It should not start with Lebron anymore. I love the man,
It should not start with Lebron. If you want to
start with Anthony Davis, okay, but we also see what
that kind of means too, as he just catches a
crazy lob. My man has consistency problems, right. Somebody needs
(12:42):
to be a tier right below those two for the
Lakers to actually be serious.
Speaker 2 (12:49):
Man.
Speaker 4 (12:50):
And I know no one likes the zach Lavine contract,
but I'm just talking about a player who's capable of
doing having those kind of performances night in and out.
I mean, some folks with clamoring for brandon Ingram. You know,
you bring him over and he starts, you know, he
keeps going with the injury road. Now you're even more
pissed that that happened. But to be honest, man, I
(13:13):
truly truly think that if this Laker duo of Anthony
Davis and Lebron James want to touch another championship by
the NBA Finals, They're gonna need another name with them
that is about forty percent better than Austin Reeves.
Speaker 3 (13:28):
I was just about to saying, do you think Rob
thinks that player is Austin Reeves. I sometimes think that
he really believes that Austin Reeves could.
Speaker 2 (13:35):
Be might get there, but like Bron's gonna not be
able to hardly play. It's kind of hard. Like he'll
still be good, but like it might be like fifteen
minutes a good.
Speaker 3 (13:47):
Yeah. I love Austin. I love what he brings.
Speaker 1 (13:51):
I actually think he's a very very good player.
Speaker 3 (13:53):
But you're talking win now, can Austin Reeves really be
your third best player on the championship team?
Speaker 1 (13:59):
I don't think he there yet.
Speaker 5 (14:00):
I don't think he's thats WHI he shouldn't be the
best player you can't on Knights. But he's kind of
like one of those guys that feels like the gaps. Yeah,
he's not the guy like and he will some Knights,
but he's not going to get you, like to a
high seed in the regular season.
Speaker 3 (14:18):
And I guess that's one of the things that that brings.
The question to me is since you have a player
like Austin Reeves who currently handles the ball probably the
most on the team at this point, he kind of
controls the offense.
Speaker 1 (14:30):
He's kind of been the engine.
Speaker 3 (14:32):
How do you bring a player in without moving him out,
like could he go back to playing off the ball,
Like I feel like the style he plays, the way
they've kind of positioned him, I don't you almost have
to send him out if you're gonna bring somebody in,
you know, Like, I don't know how he would fit
on this team because he's high usage on our team,
(14:52):
like very like he's a very high usage player. Lebron's
usage and especially on ball isn't as much when he
shares the floor with Austin Reeves, say with Anthony Davis.
So if you bring in another starish type player, you
almost have to send Reeves out.
Speaker 4 (15:05):
Right, uh ye, Like I'm not gonna be selfish or
Laker Homer to get it a deal deal done?
Speaker 2 (15:14):
Probably probably right.
Speaker 4 (15:17):
You go to the Bulls who've been trying to, I
guess trade Zach Levine for two years, and we put
a package together that started with Austin Reeves and then
made the money make sense. You can you can tell
the Chicago Bulls we're giving you our third best player,
and it be true. Yeah, you know, and then you start,
you know, to make the money work. You probably got
(15:39):
throwing the ruys you got, you know, it would be
a package that the Bulls can look like and be like, oh,
we these aren't bad players that we got back, right.
But you know, so in that sense, I think Austin
may have to be that big bait to go big
game hunting.
Speaker 2 (15:56):
You feel you feel me.
Speaker 4 (15:59):
But at the same time, right, let's say that the
Lakers can pull a rabbit out of their hat and
get a player of that next level caliber. And I'm
just saying Zach Lavine kind of as the example. Somebody
who is close to Zach Levine's you know output, night
in and night out, capable of doing it, right, But
(16:21):
I think Austin could do pretty well coming off the
bench and being your your main ball handler, right, I
think he can control an offense. Obviously, Austin does a
lot better when he has another really good player on.
Speaker 2 (16:33):
The court with him.
Speaker 4 (16:34):
He gets a little scary when he's out there with
a bunch of bums. But at the same time, I
think that's what you build rotations around so that they're
not always so staggered, especially with a third I'm going
to call them all star level caliber player. Yeah, just
the report just came out today that said opposing GM's
are you know, calling the Lakers front office, like not
(16:58):
creative with their packages.
Speaker 2 (17:00):
You want to talk creative.
Speaker 4 (17:01):
Me and Kwame Ethan we were scratching off heads trying
to figure out how in the hell Phoenix got that
deal off. It made a trade with Utah for one
first round pick. No bullshit, eight years before my son
is draft eligible for three first round picks before the
decades up.
Speaker 1 (17:21):
It doesn't make I cannot, for the life of you
understand how they got.
Speaker 2 (17:24):
And they're already like walked into all the CVA rules
where they can't really we're going to maybe be able
to create for Jimmy Butler.
Speaker 1 (17:32):
I want to I wonder how Bradley.
Speaker 3 (17:34):
Beal feels about it all all though, because I mean,
he's got a no trade claw so he can on anything.
Speaker 2 (17:39):
If I was him, he didn't want to go.
Speaker 4 (17:41):
I just said, uh, did you see what the latest
was the four team possible five team trade.
Speaker 2 (17:48):
Nah.
Speaker 4 (17:49):
They they got Jimmy to Phoenix, brad Beal to Milwaukee,
Chris Middleton to Miami.
Speaker 3 (17:58):
They're not taking the corpse of Chris middle Hey, they said,
Chris middletated a bunch of picks.
Speaker 4 (18:07):
Goes to Miami and then there would be a fourth
or fiftheam that would take on salary.
Speaker 2 (18:12):
You might get along better with pat Riley, so.
Speaker 4 (18:17):
Run him into the ground down there, man, you're telling
me Brad.
Speaker 2 (18:26):
Yeah, Brad Damon the honest. Now, I think that's interesting.
Speaker 4 (18:29):
I think that's at least a franchise trying to do
to make suit shake. But you know, Brad and dame backcourt, brother,
you might as well leave broad door open.
Speaker 1 (18:43):
No defense, it's gonna be all on.
Speaker 4 (18:48):
Which not the worst kind of like security blanket, but
Brooks starting to get one hundred years old.
Speaker 1 (18:54):
Yeah, man, it's that that's a tough defensive. I don't know.
Speaker 3 (18:58):
Man, if my Miami was to take Chris Middleton, their
fan base might riot like that's insane. And to be honest,
I don't think they have a need for Bradley Beal.
I think Tyler girls better.
Speaker 2 (19:12):
Right now.
Speaker 3 (19:13):
Ye, Brad has been rough this season. You know he's
got one of two. Do trade clauses in the whole
league or whatever? See the only one? I think it's
like he's one of two.
Speaker 2 (19:22):
It's ridiculous.
Speaker 1 (19:23):
I don't know. I don't know how.
Speaker 3 (19:24):
I don't know how the Sons get that Butler deal
done without them finding a third team to give Miami
something they actually want.
Speaker 2 (19:33):
Hey, what's going on, y'all?
Speaker 4 (19:34):
Ricky with Late Lake Show Real Quick, just wanted to
send some flowers, send some love to one of our
a one day ones friends of the show prize picks.
They've been rocking with us since this account and this
whole operation was in its infancy way before we have
grown to the production that we are here today, and
we can't thank them enough for believing in the engine
(19:54):
that is Ellen n LS. And to show our love,
we got a new promo code for y'all. Ipe in
the promo code c L and as c L and
as for up to one hundred dollars deposit match on
your first deposit. That's right, you already know how Prospects
is coming. Man. It is the number one daily fantasy experience.
Speaker 2 (20:18):
You make your picks higher or lower. You make two
to three selections, and if you're.
Speaker 4 (20:22):
Hit, you might be able to cash out on a
nice little five, ten, eighteen, twenty five all the way
up to one hundred times your deposit. Do you try
it backing down like a traditional big maybe? Kume you
got a point?
Speaker 3 (20:38):
You know a good block bow?
Speaker 2 (20:44):
I need so what are the other options?
Speaker 4 (20:50):
Right, Like other things that we've talked about, the Lakers
need a big man to be down there or back
up Anthony Davis. You know, they've been talking about Walker
Kessler for nine million years as DFS Trains of three.
All you got to do is talk about it and
then it happens. So now we're getting we're getting DFS threes.
(21:11):
I actually saw the trade news.
Speaker 5 (21:13):
I was kind of like, uh, work, and I saw
that Utah and I figured someone I traded for him.
Speaker 3 (21:22):
Yeah, I mean, he's All's got a lot of players
that they could trade. They could trade John Collins, they
could trade Walker Castle.
Speaker 2 (21:29):
They every year we are about like six players.
Speaker 1 (21:32):
Jordan Clarkson, Clarkson, Their whole team is our tradeable.
Speaker 3 (21:36):
Assets in limbo? Yeah, I don't know what that team's doing.
Speaker 2 (21:40):
I don't.
Speaker 1 (21:40):
I don't. Are they trying to capture the flag this year?
What's their Uh?
Speaker 2 (21:43):
They almost feel like the bulls, I guess.
Speaker 4 (21:44):
Hilarious. Yeah, ten and thirty one. Man, they are on
tank Watch.
Speaker 1 (21:48):
They're on tank Watch.
Speaker 4 (21:50):
Oh my god, they are. They are impressively on tank Watch.
Crazy thing's not on tank Watch. You know who's not
on tank Watch? And just find themselves there. The only
team that shouldn't be there, according to their fan base,
the New Orleans Pelicans are twelve and thirty two.
Speaker 3 (22:08):
Oh yeah, they made that big they made that splash
trade and their team can't even stay healthy.
Speaker 5 (22:13):
Man.
Speaker 3 (22:15):
Well, yeah, they got some. They got some nice young guys.
They should blow it up.
Speaker 2 (22:22):
They have some.
Speaker 1 (22:22):
They have some veterans that can help some teams. They
should blow it up.
Speaker 2 (22:25):
T and T.
Speaker 1 (22:27):
Herb.
Speaker 3 (22:28):
They should get rid of CJ. They should get rid
of Herb. They should get rid of Dejonte. They should
get rid of Brandy. They could, they could, honestly, they
just blew it all up. They could probably get a
very decent haul. Is there, g I'm still David Griffin?
Speaker 1 (22:46):
Or who is it now?
Speaker 2 (22:47):
I think so?
Speaker 3 (22:48):
No way, Peter, There's no way David Griffin is still.
I think he's still there, Bro, he can't be. They
had the fires ass.
Speaker 1 (23:02):
He's the exactly.
Speaker 3 (23:03):
They gave him a better position a vice president of
basketball operations after successfully doing nothing to benefit their franchise.
Speaker 4 (23:12):
Hm hmm. His biggest mark on the franchise is trading
Anthony Davis, and.
Speaker 1 (23:18):
He got Zion the next year and did nothing with him.
Remember they won that.
Speaker 3 (23:24):
That that's we don't have to reopen old scars.
Speaker 1 (23:27):
They're dead back to the water. They never they never
crawled out of the depths of hell. That's tough.
Speaker 4 (23:39):
So with the Jazz, right, they have to and let's
let's keep it. Let's keep it a being ethan. Let's
let's keep it a buck. There's no other franchise that
would do illegal things to get Cooper Flag into their
city than the Utah.
Speaker 1 (24:00):
Jazz Celtics might be there if they weren't.
Speaker 4 (24:02):
Oh yeah, you're right, if the Celtics weren't already set up.
Oh man, that's why he was like, y'all good, you
can't sucking nothing for me no more.
Speaker 1 (24:12):
I'm gonna get the next one over in Utah.
Speaker 2 (24:14):
Let me suck over here in Utah. Get this ship.
Speaker 4 (24:17):
We're all the way right, oh man, Utah's gotta be gotta.
Speaker 2 (24:22):
Be in Cooper Flag sweepstakes, like I hope, I hope
they do all that.
Speaker 4 (24:28):
And yeah no, but you know who damn sure don't
deserve Cooper Flag is the Pelicans.
Speaker 2 (24:37):
He might be on the way to l A in
a couple of years. Yeah, but I do not want
to do.
Speaker 1 (24:42):
They don't need that, They don't need the.
Speaker 2 (24:43):
Hire League would love him to go to the Pelicans
because they know he's going to.
Speaker 4 (24:46):
Be They're actually all the teams right now that he
could go to kind of suck like that.
Speaker 2 (24:56):
Set up to the Raptors.
Speaker 1 (24:58):
Him and Scottie Barnes.
Speaker 2 (25:01):
For basketball.
Speaker 4 (25:02):
For basketball for sure, But yeah, yeah, like this is
an American white player that we haven't had this much
hype for Saints what JJ Reddick? Like, how big dad
ass serious? Who was the last I want to come
(25:24):
out of college? And you're like, hey, that boy gonna
be a problem.
Speaker 2 (25:29):
That's a good point.
Speaker 4 (25:31):
It's been one of the duke boys. Grayson Allen. It
looks like a US senator already.
Speaker 2 (25:36):
Wow he does.
Speaker 1 (25:37):
Yeah, Yeah, I don't know. Yeah, you might be right.
Speaker 4 (25:41):
Hey, Adam gotta tip the scales man. He gotta put
that pinky or that thumb right on the other side.
They gotta get him. Yeah, It's it's tough, man, because
can the Sixers suck enough to get it? Can the
Nets suck enough to get Cooper flag? They wouldn't hate that.
I don't want to mom the nuts, No, I mean.
Speaker 3 (26:02):
No, honestly, if the teams. His options are kind of trash.
They're not great options. I mean they won't they would
be exciting. There's nothing else to be exciting. He doesn't
need to die in Washington. He doesn't deserve that.
Speaker 4 (26:17):
That'll be Uh what is a gen Z shack at
Kobe Fucking Cooper Flack and LaMelo Ball.
Speaker 1 (26:24):
Honestly, Utah is probably the best fit.
Speaker 2 (26:26):
I like it. Oh God, I like.
Speaker 4 (26:29):
It, and I mean because I guess they do in
the best of both worlds. They are keeping some young
pieces around while also being terrible no facts, So you know,
Cooper and Walker wouldn't be the worst front court in
the NBA.
Speaker 3 (26:45):
Definitely not, but they still marking in Oh my god,
is he playing?
Speaker 2 (26:51):
Yes?
Speaker 3 (26:51):
I think I don't think he is. I think he's
been sitting.
Speaker 1 (26:54):
They have ten wins. He can't. He can't be playing
that much. There's a dude of Lorie Many. His last
game was January eleventh, so he's been out for.
Speaker 2 (27:04):
A little bit. Hey, they may have took his joy too.
Speaker 1 (27:09):
Yeah, no hit taking.
Speaker 4 (27:11):
Okay, we got a little dunk party in La to night,
back to back.
Speaker 3 (27:16):
Hey, they're trying to make jackson As look good for
the get him out of your package.
Speaker 2 (27:20):
Yeah, get him out of your package.
Speaker 4 (27:22):
Hey, we didn't even we didn't even get into your
boys comments qualm cool. Lebron started scratching.
Speaker 2 (27:27):
That itch boy.
Speaker 4 (27:29):
Yeah, he started getting back into the piss the fuck
off at the front office because of roster construction.
Speaker 3 (27:35):
I mean, he's not wrong, and to be honest, the
burden that they're placing still on him being forty and
then Anthony Davis, it's it's still it's a lot.
Speaker 1 (27:45):
They're treating it like this is.
Speaker 3 (27:46):
Still twenty twenty where they could just grab an assortment
of guys. And again, I think that team had some
really good balance, it's really good discipline, so it makes sense.
But I think there's it's harder because there's more gaps
in Lebron and AD's games and they're or five years ago,
and I don't think Rob has quite learned that lesson
in terms of building a roster that fits them well.
(28:07):
Like I said, the things that we lack we can't
show up, Like again, you need more perimeter defense with
Lebron's grows less active energy on that side. We don't
really see a lot of those guys on the roster. Granted,
one of them hasn't played in forever and we just
traded for one, so it's it's a work in progress.
(28:27):
And then we've always needed rebounding help always, literally since
we got rid of since we stopped playing Mark and
Ad together, and I guess Andre Drummond and Ad towards
the end of that season. But since the twenty one
season we haven't had that. So it's like, these, these
the gaps that our stars have, the deficiencies we have,
(28:48):
we've not done a good job of shoring up. Instead,
we fill those gaps with redundant skill sets or single
dimensional players, and it's like that's not really solving the
problem we have here.
Speaker 1 (28:59):
So that's kind of how I see it.
Speaker 3 (29:00):
And again, the problem's not gonna get any better as
time goes on. Like I said, these guys are only
getting older. Lebron's forty years old. We shouldn't be asking
him to do literally any.
Speaker 2 (29:07):
Of this stuff.
Speaker 1 (29:07):
But I get it, and he does give us flashes.
Speaker 3 (29:09):
I think that's one of the other hard parts is
you never quite know what you're gonna get out of Lebron.
Are you gonna get one of his stinkers, Are you
gonna get a thirty ball out of him.
Speaker 1 (29:16):
Is he gonna be engaged?
Speaker 4 (29:17):
Is he not?
Speaker 1 (29:18):
Like you never quite know, so I think that makes
it a little difficult too.
Speaker 3 (29:21):
But yeah, I think that's just one thing that I've
noticed as the front office hasn't in the last four
or five years, has not done a great job of
filling the holes of our stars with the right supplemental players.
They're just kind of grabbing people that they think work
in other facets, Like we didn't need not We don't
need nine people to need the ball. We have Lebron James,
(29:41):
you know, we have Austin Reeves. We don't need more
of those types of players. We need hard nose, you know,
get on the ground, dirty work guys.
Speaker 2 (29:49):
That Corey Crisper, you just banked the three step back bank.
Speaker 3 (29:54):
Three got thirteen threes already.
Speaker 4 (30:01):
One thing that I wanted to piggyback off on with
that is so finished it.
Speaker 3 (30:08):
What am I?
Speaker 4 (30:10):
How Rob could sit there and watch Lebron have flashes
of prime Lebron and be satisfied with that is is
beyond comprehension.
Speaker 2 (30:21):
Yeah, we we.
Speaker 4 (30:24):
Watched very intimately Kobe's last few years, where yes, it
was way more injury riddled than Lebron's and maybe that's
why he has rob has these blinders on. But it
wasn't like Kobe still wasn't capable of going out there
and giving you thirty something right now. You saw how
much that ended up accelerating, and at the end it
(30:48):
was like, all right, let's just let's just keep him
healthy all the way through.
Speaker 2 (30:52):
But the fact that he thinks.
Speaker 4 (30:53):
Oh, yeah, you know, Lebron clearly isn't you know, the
wheels haven't fallen off, so this is how good that
he's going to be doing it less.
Speaker 2 (31:00):
It's it's kind of it's kind of stupid.
Speaker 4 (31:03):
So I do think that he believes that that right now,
this Lebron and this Anthony Davis is still enough like
it's twenty twenty. But for others that was five years ago. Yeah, five,
Lebron's been here for seven six six seven, seven years. Man,
(31:27):
he ties a cab tenure yet two more years.
Speaker 3 (31:31):
Ah, next year, he'll I think it passes. It will
be the longest stay in place, eight years, eight seasons.
Speaker 2 (31:39):
Sorry he insane? Insane?
Speaker 5 (31:44):
Yeah, I mean, I'm not a basketball GM, but I
would think that Rober w want to have a serious
sit down with him.
Speaker 2 (31:49):
And be like, listen, what do you think you can
give me every night? And what do you what would
you like to have on the court with you?
Speaker 5 (31:55):
But I don't know if that doesn't happen, or if
they don't really talk that much.
Speaker 4 (32:00):
I'm willing to bet they don't talk about I can't
I can't image point, probably not.
Speaker 3 (32:05):
I can't imagine they talk much. And that's that's the
part where it's like, I don't know. It's it feels
difficult to to feel to understand where they're going with this.
And again I get the Russell Westbrook trade didn't turn
out the way that you know, they expected. They mortgage
a lot of their future, but that doesn't And again,
ever since then, it's felt like they've played overly shy
with things. No, no, you know, I'll give the credit. I
(32:28):
think this team is better suited for playoff basketball rather
than the long, grueling regular season. I think, you know,
barring Denver, who just has our number for some reason,
does any of these teams in the West really strike
fear in the in your in your like deep in
the core of you guys, Like if you matched up
with any of these current Western Conference playoff teams, has
(32:49):
anybody got you shaken in your boots as currently constructed?
Speaker 4 (32:57):
No, but I think people Canuggets again, and potentially getting
eliminated by Russell Westbrook would be my thirteenth reason.
Speaker 1 (33:05):
Yeah, that's a good point.
Speaker 3 (33:05):
But like I said, I think the Nuggets just had
they have a psychological hold over this Laker group. But
outside of them, when I look at the at the
Western Conference, no one really scares me in a seven
game series like terrifies me. I think there's the teams
up top that are a little too young. The veteran
teams are all at the bottom.
Speaker 4 (33:28):
Man.
Speaker 2 (33:28):
I just I just have like a mini heart attack.
Speaker 5 (33:31):
I was thinking, what if we get in the playoff
series and JJ can't handle like coaching.
Speaker 2 (33:35):
In a series? Man? That Oh my gosh, my heart
thinking about that. Well, he's got a couple of former
head coaches on his bench and it should be fine.
It couldn't be any worse than it was.
Speaker 1 (33:51):
Hey, Darvin took us to a conference fine.
Speaker 4 (33:53):
About to say, has Darvin? He said, Hey, y'all can't
do what I did.
Speaker 2 (33:57):
He said, anyone else would have gotta gotta extend got
the EXTENSI Hey, he kind of was not lying.
Speaker 1 (34:04):
You spinning a little bit. I'm not gonna hold you.
Speaker 4 (34:06):
Kind of was not lying, But if the locker room
is giving up on you, every hey, playoff head coaches
get fired, but hey, coaches of the year get fired.
Speaker 1 (34:18):
Coach of the years do get fired.
Speaker 2 (34:19):
Yeah, especially if Tomorto Rows is on your roster.
Speaker 3 (34:22):
Yeah, Dwayne Casey be getting clapped, Mike Brown got clapped.
Speaker 2 (34:25):
Clap. That's becoming a trend. Yeah, we've seen it.
Speaker 1 (34:30):
So no coaching job is truly safe. But that's what
I'm saying, man.
Speaker 3 (34:33):
You know what, I really look at the at the
Western Conference playoff matchups, nobody really scares me except for Denver,
and that's just because they've been tagging us forever, man.
But outside of that, nobody strikes fear me too much.
But that being said, I don't think that's the reason
to stanm Pat. I think there's some things we could
and should do.
Speaker 1 (34:53):
Will they happen? I don't know.
Speaker 3 (34:55):
Like I said, for me, I'm just I'm just gonna
sit and wait for things to happen. I I don't
like to play the trade machine, guess them what's gonna
happen game. I feel like whatever the Lakers are involved
in a rumor. It never happens, and I've got my
hopes up twelve too many times on the trade I
expected to go through and it didn't happen. The Kyrie
one was the last one to take my soul away,
and I told myself, I never.
Speaker 2 (35:15):
Let it happen again.
Speaker 1 (35:16):
So I'm just here for the ride and hopefully they
get somebody.
Speaker 2 (35:20):
Here's the thing.
Speaker 4 (35:20):
They could have been done, and for better or for worse,
if they just would have made the trade happen, they
could have said we're done with y'all asking about any
big trade. We traded for Russ didn't work, were traded
for Kyrie. If this don't work, they all going down
in the same ship together. The Lakers weren't willing to
do that.
Speaker 1 (35:39):
I wish because if for.
Speaker 4 (35:42):
The fans and then turn around and say, oh you
gotta trade Kyrie. Oh this is it's like stop now.
You got to hold the mirror up and say, maybe
this just ain't what the players, this era of players
are capable of right now. Maybe this is just in
the stars. Lebron got his one in LA eighty got
his one in LA. It's just not gonna happen or
(36:03):
the three stars could have leaned on each other throughout
the season. We've gotten a better seed, and you wouldn't
be fighting for your life like we've been doing for
the past what two seasons, like literally fighting for our
lives just to get into the playoffs and get our
heads kicked by the Denver Nuggets.
Speaker 3 (36:22):
They can't keep getting away with us. At some point,
we gotta they gotta give. They gotta do something now.
Speaker 2 (36:27):
I mean the team camp. But she Rob can Yeah,
Rob could get away with anything. There's no family.
Speaker 3 (36:34):
He's getting secret secrets, extensions and the wee hours of
the night.
Speaker 2 (36:38):
Nobody knows what's happened. How publicly Darwin Ham was supported.
Speaker 1 (36:43):
He was.
Speaker 5 (36:44):
He would literally roll up the press conferences like he
was parked. I'm getting I'm getting text from Genie she said.
She said, my job, my job secured.
Speaker 2 (36:54):
Yeah, he said, I don't even know.
Speaker 4 (36:55):
I didn't even hear nothing about this until folks started
to texting me saying, keep my head up.
Speaker 2 (36:59):
God, I was doing.
Speaker 1 (37:02):
What it's really ill.
Speaker 2 (37:03):
I was.
Speaker 5 (37:04):
Genuinely, That's how Darvin Ham was, who like Genie obviously
didn't know before.
Speaker 2 (37:08):
I can't have like jobs. Rob's got to have a
job until he doesn't want to anything.
Speaker 1 (37:14):
Literally if jobs.
Speaker 5 (37:16):
Actually, the only way that Rob would lose his job
is if like Magic demanded to come back and said
that like convinced her that like Rob wasn't doing his job,
and like I don't see him doing that.
Speaker 2 (37:26):
No, I don't want that.
Speaker 3 (37:29):
I think he has that John so that he doesn't
want it anymore. He can do no wrong, which is
a little which is a little disappointing. But you know,
like I said, we'll we'll have to see. Yeah, man,
what are we doing here, Lake, You're still up twenty nine,
twenty three, top of the second quarter.
Speaker 2 (37:48):
I don't know, man, It.
Speaker 4 (37:49):
Was about this time in the game where I need
to see if they're going to actually be a for
real basketball team or if they're just.
Speaker 2 (37:55):
Gonna be bullshitting, Especially now bro right, I don't think
there's anything take out. We can still go up.
Speaker 4 (38:01):
No, no, no, no, no, I'm talking about for the rest
of my night. Are they going to be a serious
basketball team or are they bullshitting?
Speaker 2 (38:08):
Yeah, that's fair. We saw the Spurs game. Anything canna
have it?
Speaker 4 (38:15):
Like Christian Wood and Jonnis Valachue and is just running
into each other.
Speaker 2 (38:19):
This is Jackson as I got.
Speaker 4 (38:24):
Yeah, Christian Wood is, like I said, I saw him
at McDonald's the other day.
Speaker 2 (38:28):
That's all. I'm in a dream.
Speaker 3 (38:30):
I have not I like every time I see him
on the side, I'm like, damn, I forgot this guy's
on our team.
Speaker 1 (38:36):
No for real, like it's been that long.
Speaker 5 (38:39):
Well, they usually don't cut to him Either's like when
you see him, it just like happens to be in
the background, like yeah, you're like, oh, like.
Speaker 2 (38:45):
Show though all the time and be like, oh, okay,
that's lucky he nineteen feet tall, bro.
Speaker 4 (38:50):
Or I just think he's a streamer that just got
good court side seats by the bench.
Speaker 2 (38:56):
That's all I used to.
Speaker 3 (38:57):
Feel about Ketchrick Ketrick. They show ketch it up that
damn I forgot he's on this team.
Speaker 2 (39:01):
Shoutout Kendrick Nunn Man that he had good seats too.
Speaker 1 (39:04):
Is he playing now Lithuania?
Speaker 2 (39:06):
Uh? One of the big ones?
Speaker 1 (39:10):
China is in Israel.
Speaker 4 (39:12):
He's in like Spain, like with them with them folks,
like with the big clubs.
Speaker 3 (39:17):
Isn't like on like all our last mid level exception
players like all out of the league like Lonnie except
the league. Monk he's still in the league. But Lonnie
and Ketrick Nunn and it might be gay.
Speaker 2 (39:31):
He's playing like this US wrong. That's funny.
Speaker 4 (39:35):
Yeah, man, Lonnie had that, uh that Steph. A couple
of plays against Steph, A couple moves against Steph. He
made the call.
Speaker 1 (39:43):
Now he's our starter for like the dire season.
Speaker 3 (39:46):
He was hoop big. I liked Lonnie on this team.
I thought he was a fun player. He gave us
some highlight. I felt like he played well. I can't
believe he's out the league.
Speaker 2 (39:54):
There's really a little contract. To be honest, they expanded
everyone player option.
Speaker 3 (40:01):
We could desperately use his athleticism desperately. It needs to
be fun him on the break.
Speaker 4 (40:09):
I can't believe we let Monk just come and go
to I mean, I don't think we could.
Speaker 3 (40:14):
Have paid him.
Speaker 2 (40:16):
You could have tried to.
Speaker 4 (40:20):
You know, I don't think we paid anyone that off
season brus season two or is that the year before?
Speaker 2 (40:25):
This year before? It's like a string of losses.
Speaker 3 (40:29):
Yeah, man, Well, we know Rob is not the greatest
asset management. He's just you know, it's we we we
have a lot of odd things happened.
Speaker 2 (40:39):
So what does he.
Speaker 5 (40:40):
Do you know he's the buy a house.
Speaker 2 (40:44):
It's not.
Speaker 1 (40:46):
I can't buy a house that's not for sale.
Speaker 3 (40:48):
But apparently he can't get creative enough to come up
with some crazy packages.
Speaker 2 (40:52):
You can't fix the one that got either.
Speaker 3 (40:54):
Exactly, which is yeah, I don't know man after And
how the hell James Jones pulled that bullshit? How the
hell did he get that? Like, I don't understand how
he did that. So now that I know that you
can do that, I'm we're gonna need some help here.
I'm gonna need somebody to uh, I'm gonna need somebody
tell Rob. You know, you can get a little creative
with your packages here. Doesn't have to just beat this
(41:16):
player and that player for that player in this player.
Speaker 4 (41:21):
Yeah, trade package now that's dead ass. What he does
he has chat GPTs trades.
Speaker 3 (41:27):
He just looks as he goes on two K and
puts his players in the trade finder.
Speaker 2 (41:33):
Who's interesting, what we got?
Speaker 3 (41:35):
And then he calls teams up and asks for those
real trades.
Speaker 5 (41:40):
That's like the three teams that the answer anyway? Right, Well,
you know he calls the Wizards, call.
Speaker 3 (41:46):
The Wizards in the nets and the Jazz those are
only threefold.
Speaker 1 (41:50):
He has threefolds colored with their teeth.
Speaker 5 (41:52):
There.
Speaker 2 (41:52):
You guys want to move Walker? Yeah?
Speaker 5 (41:54):
Okay, no, right, all right, we'll call me later. Oh
you guys still want a first rounder?
Speaker 2 (41:59):
I don't know. Oh damn.
Speaker 4 (42:04):
They Meanwhile, the Sons did trade for Nick Richardson, not
Nick Richardson. Nick richards thank you.
Speaker 2 (42:14):
The person. I liked him.
Speaker 4 (42:17):
I liked him over there you said it was the wizard.
Oh no, what the hornet? Hornet? For this season?
Speaker 3 (42:23):
I think they drafted them, right, I think, yeah, out
of Kentucky. I like Kentucky players.
Speaker 4 (42:28):
Man, Yeah, there you go, right, So I'm something like
he's been doing pretty well since he got over. Their
sons still aren't winning, but that's on the Stars, so you.
Speaker 1 (42:37):
Know they have death issues too.
Speaker 2 (42:40):
But they did.
Speaker 3 (42:41):
I mean, Ryan Dunn's a good is good player they drafted.
I actually think, you know, I don't think their team's
too bad, but the bowban. You look at their bench, like,
who's gonna do anything on this team? Like their benches
where it.
Speaker 2 (42:51):
Gets very hairy?
Speaker 3 (42:53):
Where's bowl bull?
Speaker 1 (42:54):
Wasn't he supposed to do do some things over there?
Speaker 2 (42:57):
That's true? It was getting minutes last year.
Speaker 3 (42:59):
Yeah, because they fired frank all right, Peter frank Man.
They gave him a raw deal.
Speaker 1 (43:05):
And who's their coaching now, Botenolzer.
Speaker 4 (43:07):
Yeah, they're about to get Jimmy, I'm sure, you know.
Speaker 3 (43:12):
Like to me, I just don't see why Pat, like
what what Pat thinks the sons are gonna give that
he wants. And like I said, Brad gets shut down anything,
and he's the he's the lynch pin. Do it all
because they need his contract money.
Speaker 5 (43:25):
I would assume they wouldn't have done the trade if
they would already had kind of the framework built.
Speaker 3 (43:30):
Yeah, you got to hit that, I mean, or to
be honest, you know, hey, it's never bad to have
three traders.
Speaker 2 (43:36):
A while though, since I got the new owners.
Speaker 3 (43:39):
So yeah, yeah, they're very much trying to maximize. He
doesn't care about paying that luxury tax because you know,
he has a gajillion dollars. Unlike Genie, who's gonna penny pinch.
These guys won't play Christian Cloco, so he doesn't lose
his two way status.
Speaker 1 (43:53):
It's insane because gig over what the fifty game.
Speaker 3 (43:55):
Threshold I think I've seen I've heard Mike Trudell say that,
like fifty times that he has to. He can only
play a certain amount of games. These guys there, penny
pintures man, it's a little tough.
Speaker 4 (44:05):
So hey, basketball is crazy. That was a nine point
swing right there. Two plays nine points. It's hard man
and mister wide open. Three sons come back down. Kuzma
drains one wound the three. That's basketball for you, fellas.
You on Valentunas, No, no, I mean he's a big body,
(44:29):
but no.
Speaker 2 (44:34):
Hey what about he's been balling? There we go. Now
we're talking still. I still think we're big.
Speaker 4 (44:43):
I don't care. He knows how to score. He knows
how to score. Look at his numbers.
Speaker 2 (44:47):
He knows how to score.
Speaker 3 (44:49):
They traded score, They traded cruise over nothing, just giddy up.
Speaker 2 (44:55):
Yeah, but the giddler, you know what I mean?
Speaker 1 (44:59):
So you'd you take us?
Speaker 2 (45:01):
Yes? Yes, hey, we trade for him and a Lonzo.
Speaker 3 (45:07):
Alright, you don't want a Lonzo back. You're tired of Lakers, reunions,
regions ext.
Speaker 1 (45:15):
We had you once. We don't need you.
Speaker 2 (45:17):
Back like d low.
Speaker 4 (45:21):
Alonzo Kuzma, I'm sorry, Julius can't come back.
Speaker 1 (45:28):
I can't can come back.
Speaker 4 (45:29):
I cannot come back. Bro, I'm sorry, I'm not doing
this again.
Speaker 2 (45:33):
Hey, I would have traded though for a Lonzo. I
would have done that.
Speaker 4 (45:36):
True that that still don't social media ass trade in
the history of Lakers.
Speaker 1 (45:44):
A Lonzo still play defense. He plays in my city.
Speaker 2 (45:47):
Watch the game.
Speaker 5 (45:48):
I've seen him. I've seen him garden picking rolls. He'll
he'll still strip the ball down and dug it or
like I play it up?
Speaker 1 (45:55):
Is he afraid to take layups?
Speaker 2 (45:56):
Still?
Speaker 5 (45:57):
He's He's been playing fine for that scene. I don't
watch like a lot of the bulls, but if they're on,
I try to watch him.
Speaker 3 (46:02):
I remember when he's on the Lakers, that man would
he would not take a layup to go to the
ribire six seven.
Speaker 1 (46:10):
Bro, He's driving me nuts.
Speaker 2 (46:12):
Scared scared man. Yeah, I don't know.
Speaker 3 (46:15):
Yeah, Laker reunions, I think I have a similar sentiment.
I don't know I feel about bringing these guys back.
Speaker 2 (46:21):
I'm over. I don't like nostalgia. I don't give me
what's new, give me what's new?
Speaker 5 (46:26):
ND there I could see him potentially maybe coming here, dude, Alonzo, Yeah, sure,
I'll start my year vacation.
Speaker 1 (46:34):
Then you think we need you think we need a
better two guard? You think Max Christy can make the cut.
Speaker 2 (46:45):
I've seen a lot of dumb plays from him. I'll
be honest.
Speaker 5 (46:48):
I mean, he's great when he's been great, But we
got him, we got him thrown into the coverage at
the end of the game. We got him like not
guarding people.
Speaker 2 (46:57):
In the games. You know, Max had too good of
a childhood, to be honest.
Speaker 1 (47:02):
With you, growing up rolling medals, bro.
Speaker 2 (47:05):
He just plays way too respectful game of basketball. Let yeah,
with the amount of bouncy he has people a lot
more disrespect. Even when he does dunk on people. It's
just like he just runs. I guess that man.
Speaker 4 (47:20):
I mean, even like Wick Fox had had some some
sizzle to him, had some little gens quah, My man, Max,
he's a He definitely hit that see And that's my
other issue. I've seen this man airball way too many
threes for my liking.
Speaker 1 (47:35):
I'll be honest.
Speaker 3 (47:35):
I like Max, I just don't think he's your starting
to guard on a team trying to win a championship.
Speaker 2 (47:40):
He's just he's just not I'm definitely sitting out all
last year to help you. Yeah.
Speaker 5 (47:44):
Yeah, I think came into this year like it seems
like he was going and kind of trying to figure
stuff out.
Speaker 3 (47:50):
I would yeah, I would agree. His his development was
definitely stunned a little bit there by Darvin refusing to
let him in the games.
Speaker 1 (47:57):
But you know, I think I think he's some good
strides this year.
Speaker 3 (48:01):
But I again, he is here starting to guard on
the championship caliber team.
Speaker 1 (48:08):
I don't I don't think he can say that confidently.
Speaker 5 (48:11):
You've seen his nerves get to him several times. Possibility
on a team trying to win a championship. Yeah, all right,
one talking about you put a defense assignment?
Speaker 1 (48:25):
Watch your head?
Speaker 2 (48:31):
What cameras give? Need some help? He got the Savannah special.
Speaker 1 (48:39):
Wow, that's gonna be everywhere.
Speaker 2 (48:44):
Oh my god, all right, take that.
Speaker 1 (48:47):
I'm surprised. Yeah, I'm shocked. He's still dunk that.
Speaker 2 (48:49):
Down and he's still putting it on folks head pause.
Speaker 1 (48:53):
So is that why you don't want vals?
Speaker 2 (48:56):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (48:57):
Yeah, he can't even guard for by a forty year old.
But seriously, he got two inches off the ground. Bron James,
Ron James, it's a pleasure. It's it's it's just nothing
but a pleasure.
Speaker 3 (49:10):
Yeah, nothing else is good for Highlight Factory. He's my
lights like.
Speaker 4 (49:16):
I think there's more highlights of Valettis in those scenarios
than there is of him being an amazing basketball player. Wow,
Ad has put it on his head at least twice.
Speaker 3 (49:29):
Yeah, he's on the Pelicans used to feed. Yeah he's dirty.
Speaker 2 (49:34):
It was boom Land.
Speaker 1 (49:35):
Yeah, he's absolutely dirty.
Speaker 2 (49:37):
Ethan, you know about boom Land. No Boomlands a fireworks
gas station? Yeah.
Speaker 4 (49:48):
Driving it's past Indiana, like like you're driving through Kentucky.
Speaker 2 (49:52):
It's huge.
Speaker 4 (49:54):
Yeah, it's just it's the greatest combination that I've ever
heard of. A walmart of fireworks and a gas station
out front.
Speaker 2 (50:05):
That's insane.
Speaker 5 (50:07):
One location and I looks like they have a couple
of locations, do they? This is showing me place in Missouri?
Speaker 3 (50:12):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (50:13):
Yeah, that's what I meant.
Speaker 5 (50:14):
Okay, I was like, wait, miss way out the.
Speaker 2 (50:20):
Way, so I drove that way. I'm like, maybe no,
wait a second Boomland fireworks. I mean there could be
a boom Land.
Speaker 1 (50:29):
Don't see Oh yeah, dire Oh I see boom Town.
Speaker 2 (50:36):
Boom Land.
Speaker 4 (50:36):
It's uh in Charleston, Missouri. Oh you do get a
little sliver of Missouri. Come on, man, that's crazy. Hey,
all them states do.
Speaker 3 (50:50):
The opposite si of Illinois. What are you talking about?
What you mean Missouri in Indiana are not next to
each other? Are the opposite sides of Illinois?
Speaker 2 (51:06):
Right?
Speaker 4 (51:06):
No, I'm saying when you're driving south from like our states, Yeah,
I always go down to Florida.
Speaker 2 (51:12):
I passed through.
Speaker 4 (51:13):
Okay, I guess Missouri ship you drive to Florida.
Speaker 2 (51:18):
I sure do. That's disgusting. That's a Midwestern man. Everywhere
I drove.
Speaker 5 (51:23):
I drove all the way from the Indianapolis Airport all
the way to Dallas one night.
Speaker 2 (51:27):
My gosh, I don't, oh try. I can't sit in
the car that long. My limit.
Speaker 1 (51:32):
My limit is two and a half hours. If I'm
by myself, I will.
Speaker 5 (51:35):
I stopped for like a subway sandwich, got got like
a red bull, and then got a red bull like later,
and just rove all the way to the hotel. Then I
got to the hotel and they said I didn't have
my room rother I would have lost.
Speaker 2 (51:45):
I said, but were you there like at five?
Speaker 5 (51:50):
I mean that at four in the morning, Yeah, like
where your rooms are gonna be ready?
Speaker 2 (51:55):
Like until the morning.
Speaker 5 (51:55):
When I was like, well, I called on the way
here and the guy said that it would be fine, like, well,
we have one available.
Speaker 2 (52:01):
For this much money. I said, okay, whatever, But.
Speaker 5 (52:04):
Then they were like, yeah, well you're gonna have to
get up and be out of there by ten and
then go to the.
Speaker 2 (52:08):
Other Yeah, yeah, whatever works. Oh wait, it's like they
end up refunded me and then giving me like the meal.
Speaker 5 (52:15):
I did literally have to wake up at like ten
o'clock and then move the other thing to go back to.
Speaker 2 (52:19):
See.
Speaker 3 (52:20):
See, I'll tell me, I'll just be in cars looking
straight for that long.
Speaker 2 (52:25):
I'll be on my phone.
Speaker 1 (52:27):
See you can't say that. You can't say that out list.
Speaker 2 (52:31):
I didn't say I was driving.
Speaker 1 (52:34):
You can take your own car down there, putting miles
on that joint.
Speaker 2 (52:39):
Bennie Blanco did not make the trip. I flew.
Speaker 4 (52:41):
I spent half of my bonus flying down to Florida.
Speaker 2 (52:45):
I'm playing. It was nasty there. You go, just jump
on the plane. Bro who just died.
Speaker 3 (52:54):
He got these in the stomach. Oh yeah, people be
driving with their knees out.
Speaker 2 (52:59):
Yeah. Good thing is we don't have to wait two
weeks for that. Here, let's start getting nick his head, shoulders,
knees and toes out. Here.
Speaker 1 (53:08):
You think game gets traded or that you think they
like him enough and they're gonna.
Speaker 2 (53:10):
Get I think if a team maybe ask for him,
if it's like a good trind yikes, he took a
bony knee to the stern them bro, Yeah agree.
Speaker 1 (53:22):
I think if a team asked for him, will trade him.
Speaker 5 (53:24):
But I don't think be like yeah, sure like they
probably wouldn't like he's playing good enough. Now where I
think I've gone from, Hey, we need to trade this guy?
Speaker 2 (53:30):
That how bad ass? Fow?
Speaker 1 (53:32):
Yeah, that shit looked like it hurt. That's not offensive,
flying k me. That ship looked like it hurt.
Speaker 2 (53:39):
Bro, you pull that out in a fight. It's not funny,
but that is crazy. That's not for me.
Speaker 1 (53:49):
That should look like a hurt who.
Speaker 2 (53:53):
I feel you well, he's probably breathing.
Speaker 3 (53:56):
And you gotta play it all. You gotta play it too.
I would have been on the ground that I can't
play that off looking they're like you gotta play Hey
review that yeah, until a flagrant.
Speaker 2 (54:08):
That's how you know he's crowning. It's nuts.
Speaker 1 (54:13):
Anybody have in the Jack in the box Tacos.
Speaker 2 (54:17):
Jack in the box, Like, yeah, there's not.
Speaker 1 (54:20):
I don't know how's the slice of cheese in your taco.
Speaker 2 (54:24):
I mean the taco. Is this why?
Speaker 4 (54:28):
It's like they made the taco and then put it
in a press so it's like, you know, I don't
I have no review of the taco because overall it
was folded, it pressed out, So I don't know, man,
I just really questioned how some other places in this
(54:48):
country do tacos.
Speaker 2 (54:49):
So I don't know.
Speaker 3 (54:51):
Interesting, And there's a why they put a slice a
slice of American cheese in the back, like That's what
I don't think I understand is that is that a
Cali thing? And I don't know where's Jack of the
Box south West Coast. I don't know where the nearest
one is to Be's the nearest Jack in the Box?
Speaker 5 (55:09):
I guess you have one here, like on the west
side of it.
Speaker 2 (55:13):
Well, I'm not been the fuck out of here. There's
there's not one that closed. Oh yeah, definitely not Guam.
Speaker 4 (55:21):
Oh they got him in Guam. There is some in
Illinois in Alton. There's a Jack in Box in Chicago
there is, I guess so. And none of these other
names of cities you have ever heard of out in Collinsville,
Glen Carbon Granite City, Litchfield, O'Fallon, Swasin, Swansea, Troy.
Speaker 2 (55:44):
And Wood River. M That never heard him in my
life anyways.
Speaker 4 (55:50):
Lakers up nine forty seven thirty eight, five and a
half minutes to go in the half. I have not
seen the Wizards number two pick make a play today.
Speaker 3 (56:01):
No, he can't really score, man, He's he's there for defense.
Pretty good defensive player, but okay, he'll block some shots.
Speaker 2 (56:08):
And I don't want to hate.
Speaker 4 (56:09):
I don't want to hate because defense is important in
this league. I don't know about overall important.
Speaker 1 (56:14):
But this is an odd draft. This is a very
odd draft this year. I didn't even know.
Speaker 3 (56:24):
I would reach you, say, Zachary, I didn't even know
Bro was a player hour before the draft.
Speaker 5 (56:33):
No, Bro, I'm gonna I'm not gonna lie. Some games
I do get mad because Max just be like spotting
up if you would put it on the deck.
Speaker 3 (56:40):
And like he is athletic, does he not know that he.
Speaker 2 (56:46):
Crossed his ass?
Speaker 5 (56:48):
Uh?
Speaker 4 (56:49):
Oh, hes gonna waste his bunnies. He's gonna waste his
bunnies in his yoes. He gonna look back.
Speaker 2 (56:54):
It's like sometimes he does try to put people on posters.
Speaker 3 (56:57):
Buttfully it's my get you you need some anger.
Speaker 4 (57:03):
Jos half his height and wants to kill everybody at
the right.
Speaker 2 (57:08):
It was just a mindset at that point. Yeah, it is,
it is.
Speaker 4 (57:12):
There's I mean, I'm not saying that Max has Jeff
Green bunnies, but they're built similarly, and Jeff Green will
try to put everything in the rim possible.
Speaker 2 (57:25):
That sounds could sound crazy a little bit, a little bit.
Speaker 3 (57:31):
Alex is a smooth one for six Okay, whoa, whoa, yikes.
Speaker 4 (57:42):
Yeah, I'll be at the Hornets Lakers game in Charlotte
on Tuesday, Oh for realm yeah, going out.
Speaker 2 (57:52):
To see Cort.
Speaker 1 (57:54):
That's Alex what he's there for.
Speaker 4 (57:57):
All right, Great, so he can be a contributing player
on a contender, but on horrible teams.
Speaker 5 (58:03):
I feel like that's crazy, Like on a team that
sucks to draft a defensive player. Yeah, I agree, Number,
you have to sell tickets and you gotta like at
least try to like win some games and.
Speaker 4 (58:16):
Uh kind of like Jared Allen on the nets and
before they trade. I'll still that's another trade that I'm
just I scratched my head over.
Speaker 6 (58:24):
Yeah, that was a hard and trade. That three team
joint right, Yeah, and Cleveland up with Mobiley and with
Alan Man that is that's insane.
Speaker 1 (58:35):
Yeah, they just they just plucked them up.
Speaker 2 (58:37):
I don't appreciate bigs talented. They don't. They don't.
Speaker 3 (58:41):
They don't know because they think there's a tall guy
in every draft. That's honestly, I feel like how they
think there's a tall, lanky dude in every draft.
Speaker 2 (58:49):
Block party. Okay, Max, I just said that Stu or Billy.
That's crazy. They're watching the broadcast. Yeah, we knew that
that was the move.
Speaker 4 (59:00):
Gay put your hands up, yep, oh okay, whatever works.
Speaker 2 (59:07):
You know. I thought he's maybe gonna throw a lot.
I think Lebron went to shoot it then saw that
out there.
Speaker 3 (59:16):
Yeah eight these bands mean that would have sailed out
of bounds.
Speaker 2 (59:20):
And you've been looking at him crazy, like what you
shooting at there? We go? Great, he is set in one, bro.
That is insane. That is insane.
Speaker 4 (59:32):
Any spin move should be a basket against anyone six
' eight and smaller on him. I'm sorry, it's a
physics thing. If ruly is doing spin, ruly, I think
the bad thing. I like, if I ruled the most,
he gonna press that spin button. You better believe he's
going to hit that spin and he don't even have
a hash spin.
Speaker 2 (59:52):
If he's turning, he's turning all the way spin full
spin every time, every single time.
Speaker 3 (01:00:00):
As clunky as it is, he's stepping on people's toes,
trying to spin, rolling his own ankles, but he's gonna
get that.
Speaker 5 (01:00:05):
Spin off as much as he likes to go ISO.
It's crazy that he doesn't have a bigger bag. It's
his baseline work is really good. But if he like
catches it anywhere else, it's like you just know he's
just gonna spin throw something up or spinning and pass it.
Speaker 2 (01:00:20):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:00:21):
I hate his touch around the rim. I feel like
he miss his way too many layups for being that big.
I think he's like he has Yeah, he has no touch.
He like he throws that bitch of the brain like,
but if he gets contact, like when he does that
baseline drive, he tries to like move people if it's
somebody that's just as big as him.
Speaker 1 (01:00:36):
Whatever he's putting up.
Speaker 3 (01:00:37):
Is nasty and it hurts me every time. Just take
the time, really, and he never gets foul calls. They
don't never call us.
Speaker 2 (01:00:48):
Yeah that's fair.
Speaker 1 (01:00:49):
You're not getting none, so lock in.
Speaker 2 (01:00:53):
Fifty forty one.
Speaker 1 (01:00:54):
JJ's really trying to run this zone.
Speaker 4 (01:00:56):
Huh, Usually a sign of a defeated team. I'm playing
a knuckleball. I couldn't name four players on the Wizards.
Clark sent mm hmm. Hey there's that spin.
Speaker 2 (01:01:19):
Hey, that's the thing about them, spins man.
Speaker 4 (01:01:21):
Once folks consider you a spinner. Yeah, he just sat
on that, So you gotta you gotta either remove him
from the photo or take up more space on the spin.
Speaker 1 (01:01:32):
He's got French dress. Yeah, all right, all right?
Speaker 4 (01:01:41):
Will this be a four point game or less by half?
Speaker 2 (01:01:45):
No?
Speaker 1 (01:01:45):
No, no, we gotta we gotta be up more than that.
Speaker 2 (01:01:47):
They might be up by the time it is.
Speaker 1 (01:01:50):
Wow, that makes me worry because our third quarters are.
Speaker 5 (01:01:54):
I've watched the way we close quarters close halfs. It
can happen.
Speaker 2 (01:02:00):
There we go. Yeah, he putting up some bullship. You
could see it. You can see it. He got everybody. Everybody,
everybody's spamming spin.
Speaker 1 (01:02:17):
That's right, Anthony, there we go.
Speaker 2 (01:02:23):
About that.
Speaker 5 (01:02:24):
I'm like, you could tell he used to play point guard,
Like that's why he does those floaters. That's why he
does so much stuff he does, like ingrained into him. Yeah,
it drives me nuts.
Speaker 3 (01:02:34):
But why he doesn't, which I think works well for
a power forward and like, you know, a different era.
But I guess the the two Bigs is coming back.
We see doing very well with it. Yes, the the
two Bigs are might be coming back.
Speaker 4 (01:02:48):
But David's best success was with another seven footer next
to him.
Speaker 2 (01:02:54):
Yeah, you'll never get him another one, right, Let's make
let's make sure that this doesn't happen again.
Speaker 3 (01:03:01):
That's not Jackson aes or you know. I guess whatever.
See Christian would I'll be honest, I don't. I don't
expect to see him play for this team again.
Speaker 2 (01:03:08):
No, I put Christian Wood in the Chicago Bulls uniform.
Speaker 1 (01:03:14):
Would you?
Speaker 3 (01:03:15):
I don't even know what he could do anymore. Man,
last time I saw him, what he played was he
was he in Dallas or Houston?
Speaker 2 (01:03:20):
I think it was Dallas. Jeez, man, it must be nice.
Speaker 4 (01:03:24):
It must be nice just catching the ball and placing
it on the square.
Speaker 5 (01:03:29):
I gave up on Christian Woods last year when Ad
was out against the Rockets, I think going back to
back and Christian Wood shot one shot the whole game.
Speaker 2 (01:03:37):
Mm hmm, like, oh yeah, that was the thing.
Speaker 4 (01:03:42):
Like people had brought that up and come on dfsfre
we go.
Speaker 1 (01:03:47):
All right, we're all thirteen little faith late more.
Speaker 2 (01:03:57):
Kuzma. Yeah that should be dog, big dog there.
Speaker 4 (01:04:01):
God, I'm sorry, it's just maybe I've never really have
noticed him playing basketball.
Speaker 2 (01:04:09):
That man is ridiculously lanky. Dog is me big bro
Lebron's still about to size this man? Excuse me? Oh well,
he lost the ball. He lost it?
Speaker 3 (01:04:22):
Was he about to yeah it on his He tried,
but he definitely whoa.
Speaker 2 (01:04:27):
Never mind, we had some you know, yeah, we thought
we had.
Speaker 3 (01:04:33):
Jordan Poole's gonna hit some nasty honest, isn't there two
for one? I know it, man, I know he's gonna
hit the bullshit. That's the bullshit hours. Jordan Poole doesn't mess.
He's one of those players where the bullshit hours are up.
It's it's going crazy, all right. Fifty seven forty nine,
(01:04:57):
twenty two seconds and the half. We're probably gonna get
up there out of here at halftime, watch the rest
of the yaks into the free throw line, into the
free throw line, all right, hypothetical that would obviously never
grab him. Is this thing better or worse with Austin
Reeves being swapped out for Tyler Hero.
Speaker 2 (01:05:23):
Asking me a hero man Heroes a better basketball player. Bro.
Speaker 1 (01:05:30):
Every time I see Hi playing, like this kid is
a gamer, dude, like he ops.
Speaker 3 (01:05:34):
He shoots the piss out of the ball, though, but
he's a gamer. And on random night till grab you
ten boards for no reason. I like the way he plays, man,
I like the way he plays.
Speaker 2 (01:05:44):
He's Milwaukee. You have to rebound. He got it. I
don't shoot, But.
Speaker 1 (01:05:49):
That kid is a gamer.
Speaker 3 (01:05:52):
That's why he don't want Brad if he was trash
a day. Yeah, we need Brad, We need Brad, but
they don't there. It's a redundancy and he's significantly worse
and old and it's old fifty ms.
Speaker 2 (01:06:03):
M. Who is that?
Speaker 1 (01:06:06):
Isn't that Carrington?
Speaker 4 (01:06:08):
I was like, all right, Lakers at half, all right,
good half Lakers. There we go, There we go. Our
last few playbacks have not been as enjoyable of that
was bad playing the Wizards, but you know, yeah, hey,
it's better than being pissed off.
Speaker 1 (01:06:25):
Right, Let's let's take the wins wherever we can get.
Speaker 4 (01:06:27):
Them, take it as we get it, and we're gonna
leave before they potentially do anything that could piss us off.
Speaker 2 (01:06:33):

The Lions got up out of there, The Ravens got
out of there. That hurt. That hurt, that hurt. Lamar
going out like that. Man, Mark Andrews can't, he can't.

Any parting thoughts for.
Speaker 1 (01:07:19):
Us, You know, hopefully Lakers win this game. Hopefully they
can get a nice little string going. Hopefully a trade hits.
Speaker 5 (01:07:27):
Man.
Speaker 1 (01:07:28):
We got we got some time.
Speaker 3 (01:07:29):
But you know, the season isn't quite lost yet, or
you know, I feel like we've played relatively mediocre this
season and what we're sitting in sync sixth. I think
there's there's something that could be seen here. Man, I
think the West has This is probably the window the
last year if something's going to happen that could happen.
I think these young teams are really gonna start getting
good next year. I think, okay, see next year when
(01:07:50):
check comes back after the play playoff experience are going
to get This year are going to be difficult. I
think Houston developing, the Grizzlies developing. I think this is
the last year for the old heads to try and
shake some up and make it get something out of this.
So I hope the Lakers capitalize and we'll see how
the rest of this year goes.
Speaker 4 (01:08:07):
Real quick, Ethan, before I get your last thoughts, DMZL
Russell six minutes ago, answering postgame interview question, said, dude,
I'll never take being able to play free basketball like
this for granted ever. Again, answering a question I'm being
on the Brooklyn Nets. I just needed to play free
basketball when the team's asked.
Speaker 2 (01:08:26):
No expectations are lifted. Life is good.
Speaker 1 (01:08:30):
Yeah, you just get to hoop.
Speaker 3 (01:08:31):
You don't have to worry about winning or losing or
really anything. You just got the play.
Speaker 4 (01:08:35):
I actually even take that as a dick I think
that plays a great basketball game for a bad team,
and that can be alright with him.
Speaker 2 (01:08:42):
He's made great.
Speaker 1 (01:08:42):
Money, they lost.
Speaker 2 (01:08:44):
What's he been talking about?
Speaker 5 (01:08:45):
Based on That's what I'm saying. That quote says a
lot about him. I think, I agree. I agree.
Speaker 1 (01:08:50):
He's not a winning player unfortunately.
Speaker 5 (01:08:52):
I mean, the expectations are winning and obviously you can
tell him and Brown might have some beef going on
right now based on that game that we played. Like
when you have expectations, there's gonna be a lot of
a lot of pressure, a lot of attitude from different people.
So yeah, I mean, he could just be over at all.
At this point, he's kind of getting out his peak.
(01:09:13):
He's gonna start going down, so he might be ready
to just have fun and the right off.
Speaker 1 (01:09:18):
I think his best days are behind him.
Speaker 3 (01:09:20):
This is just get a couple of get get his
last couple of paychecks, and enjoy his time in the league.
Speaker 2 (01:09:25):
That's true. He had to piece together this last one
from the Lakers. So best of luck, de Loo.
Speaker 4 (01:09:30):
You know you'll be best remembered for your three point celebration.
Speaker 2 (01:09:36):
We go get out of here.
Speaker 4 (01:09:37):
Though, for Kwame and Ethan, it's Ricky Leane out Lake Show.
We'll see you on the other side.
Speaker 2 (01:09:42):
