Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hey, what's going on, y'all.

Speaker 2 (00:01):
Welcome to a new episode of The Late Ow Lake Show
podcast powered by nineteen Media Group. It is your host,
Ricky and Kwame. We're back from a hiatus, so if
you tuning in, we appreciate you rocking with us. The
Lakers and Timberwolves just wrapped up Game one of the
first round of the Western Conference Series. It didn't turn

(00:25):
out how a lot of Laker Nation, a lot of
you know, the general public, expected to turn out. The
Lakers really got dog walked that home one seventeen ninety
five by the Timberwolves.

Speaker 1 (00:35):
So we're gonna get into the game. We're kind of gonna.

Speaker 2 (00:38):
Do a little catching up, backtracking, deep dives, all that,
all that good stuff. But we'll make sure to try
to not make it too depressing for y'all as we
get ready for Game two on Tuesday. By the time
you guys are hearing this tomorrow, so quick a turnaround,
quicker turnaround. Appreciate you rocking with us. Qualm Dogs. So
you had to be under these conditions, my brother, but

(00:58):
good to talk to you.

Speaker 1 (00:59):
How we feeling.

Speaker 3 (01:01):
I don't want to.

Speaker 4 (01:01):
Say discouraged is the word, but I've been better man,
that was. That was a tough watch. Man.

Speaker 3 (01:06):
You know, sometimes what I hate about the Lakers when they.

Speaker 4 (01:09):
Lose, they begetting their asses whooped, like it's not just
a regular l like I could have handled, you know,
your average loss, like, oh they just played better than
us type game. But they went out there and embarrassed themselves. Man,
that was tough. But it's a long series. You know,
it's first to four, not first to one. So Lakers
got a chance to change the things up and get
back into things. So, uh, it sucks that after the

(01:32):
first game, we're already you must win territory. But now
they know what to expect, man, So hopefully they're in
the film. They're they're figuring out what they did right
wrong in between, and you know, gotta go get game
two because you can't go to Minnesota down oh two.
That is not a situation you want to be in
if you want to win a series. So uh yeah,

(01:53):
I'm all right, man, I'm all right.

Speaker 1 (01:55):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:55):
They say it's not a series until the home team losers, Well.

Speaker 1 (01:59):
I get you to it's already.

Speaker 2 (02:01):
So we'll see what the Houston Golden State Series Game
one turns out. We're watching this tonight on the other screens.
But if you know the Houston Holds court, the Lakers
will be the only home team to lose in Game one,
no point on Like we said, not on our Bengo
card to start off the playoffs. But you know we

(02:22):
we won't. We won't get too low. We'll kick things
off with a quick little warm up rown of the good,
bad and the ugly. We'll try to find some you know,
some shining stars, some shining moments from this this discouraging game.
But overall, KWALM, what did you like? What didn't you like?
And what just flat out confused you? Broh?

Speaker 3 (02:42):
What I liked?

Speaker 4 (02:43):
I liked Luga Donc's offense. I thought he had a
vague rhythm. Oh yeah, like sixteen in the first quarter,
ended up with thirty seven. I thought he played pretty
well on the offensive end for the most part. Had
a couple of sloppy careless turnovers I think get thigh turnovers,
so not ideal there, he is able to get to
the line, honestly, shot fifty from the field fifty four.

Speaker 3 (03:06):
Overall he didn't.

Speaker 4 (03:08):
He even missed some bunnies like he could have easily
had like forty five if we're being honest. So that's
probably the good thing that I saw. The bad bad
that second quarter lineup Austin Reeves, Lebron James, when Luca
headed to the bench. They did not carry that lineup whatsoever.
It was very difficult. They could not get their offense going,

(03:29):
and Minnesota started to blow the doors off. They came back,
tied the game, took the lead, and then just kind
of ran from there and never looked back. And that
lineup was the is where I go back to, looking
me like, damn that that's kind of where things went left.
And then the ugly I think I probably go here.
Jackson Hayes's minutes, Man, eight minutes in the whole game,

(03:53):
no fouls, just just got yanked, manh JJ went to
commit to the small balls super super early. Jackson didn't
really have much play at all. I didn't really love it, man,
It felt it felt difficult. I feel like you limit
Luka doncc's fucking ceiling when you don't have a vertical

(04:13):
lob threat, man, like you're you're you're limiting it to
just being able to pass on the corners. So pick
and rolls all that stuff are less dynamic when you
don't have a lob threat to put that to get
that dunk down, which then makes it that people don't
have to help off the corner.

Speaker 3 (04:26):
Nearly is hard.

Speaker 4 (04:27):
If you have you know, let's say Van do cutting
to the basket, that's not nearly a threat rolling to
the basket. Shoot, he might not even make his layup,
you know, so you're definitely not helping off the corner.
So it's it's a little difficult for me, man. So
I think that was one of the things that disappointed
me the most is that Jackson really got no burn.
I know, we like to commit the small ball, but
eight minutes in the whole game, I don't.

Speaker 3 (04:48):
Know, man, I didn't like that. I didn't like that
at all.

Speaker 1 (04:52):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (04:53):
I hate to say this, but this kind of has
been in JJ'SMO as far as just committing to the
small ball and e against the grain. You know, you
saw it a little bit in the when they were
facing Oklahoma City and those back to back games. He
was not afraid to just say, you know what, Jack's,
thank you for the tip off in these first few minutes.

Speaker 1 (05:13):
We're good here.

Speaker 3 (05:15):
Yeah, it's crazy.

Speaker 2 (05:17):
So I mean, for me, like you said, there's not
a lot, not a lot of shine his stars. And
this obviously Luca is our brightest, brightest one. But I'm
gonna actually give some love to Jared Vanderbilt man, Like
he only played fourteen minutes, but those were fourteen impactful minutes.
Not even on the box score, right, Like, you know,
he'd scored two points, right, he was plus minus negative two.

(05:40):
It was actually one of the better plus minuses the
Lakers had on the court. But he was that energy
that you know, he was the embodiment of what playoff
basketball should have looked like from all of the Lakers.
He was getting into it. You got jareded doing all
the little things that don't show up on the box score. Hell,
he was getting into it with Julius Randall couple of times.

(06:00):
The second time Randall picked up a technical, so you know,
it was you know, that was a little pulling at
the heart. And I was like, Julius day on the court,
my nigga. But it was like, also Julius was killing us,
so I was like, fuck that nigga. But regardless, that's
my personal problem with Randall Island right now, the staying
open when they should have been closed. But regardless, I
think Jared Vanderbilt man, he showed that hushole showed that
intensity diving for the ball, the scrappiness. I think that

(06:24):
is what's going to be shown on the game film
when they review the tape yesterday, today, tomorrow. Jared Vanderbilt
was a post child how the Laker could have brought
the intensity for four quarters. So shout out to him,
the ugly kwame. If I had told you that the
Minnesota Timberwolves shot fifty percent from the floor, you'd be like, Okay, yeah,

(06:47):
they won a basketball game. That that makes sense. If
I said they also shot fifty percent from three, hitting
twenty one of them, You're like probably going to guess
that the Lakers are getting smoked. Right, that's exact exactly,
that's exactly what they did. The Minnesota Timberwolves overall shot
fifty one point two percent from the field and fifty
percent from three. I think I heard that was not

(07:11):
one of their best, if not their best three point
shooting performance in playoff history. So I guess, you know,
shout out to the Minnesota Timberwolves for shooting the lights out.
I mean, nas Red he stopped down to the court
and you know he didn't give fuck how far back
his dread start. It was nothing, It was nothing, and

(07:31):
get into my boy. We'll get my boy ruied later.

Speaker 1 (07:35):
But some of the.

Speaker 2 (07:36):
Leaving leaving jelly fam open in the corner to try
to help off for Luca. It's kind of inexcusable, man.
So you know, I guess Timberwolves had a hell up.
They couldn't have written a better game one for them,
so shout out to them. But that ship was ugly
as hell on the defensive end. And then then the ugly,

(07:59):
the ugly, the ugly, the ugly.

Speaker 1 (08:01):
For me is the.

Speaker 2 (08:03):
Lakers top three ball handlers between Luka, Doncis, Austin Reeves,
and Lebron James combined at seven assists seven assists. Luca
had one, which you know, if you're gonna drop you know,
thirty well guy at thirty seven, Yeah, if you're gonna

(08:25):
drop thirty seven, okay.

Speaker 1 (08:26):
I guess you know, you know, you can have one assist.

Speaker 2 (08:29):
In the game out Lebron nineteen points and three assists,
Austin sixteen points and three assists. Guys, basketball is just
as much of a math game as it is a sport.
And you know it's you know, it's pretty clear if
you're looking at just these raw numbers that you're not
going to win if your guys that are supposed to
be facilitating or scoring.

Speaker 1 (08:49):
Are not doing much of either. So yeah, that that
that was pretty ugly.

Speaker 2 (08:54):
And honestly, man, the film matches, the box scores, matches
how you feel last night watching how you woke up
this morning.

Speaker 1 (09:04):
You're not gonna win basketball games like this.

Speaker 2 (09:06):
So I guess, you know, tip of the ad to
the Timberwolves, but they definitely gotten the Lakers ass.

Speaker 4 (09:11):
I mean, when you talk about, you know, the lack
of assists, I feel you on that, But I mean
we shot the Lakers shot, you know, like that's if
people are making shots, you don't get a cists. And
again I think the fact that I don't I didn't
like our offensive game playing with the small ball. I
think it didn't open up our game enough or get
our shooters hot enough because we didn't have Jackson Hayes

(09:32):
on the floor long enough for people to really fear
our picket roll and get Luca's passing game feeling really hot,
you know, like I said, with Jackson rolls to the
hoop and you bob it up to him. Somebody has
to help from the corner before that pass is thrown,
which then gives Luca another option to throw it to
the far corner. When you don't have that, you know,
there's only limited amount of options, and when you have

(09:54):
a team that is long can recover quickly. A little
bit younger, we saw Minnesota reap the benefits of that.
I mean, they were going, they had They were killing
us on the fast breakpoints, you know what I'm saying,
Like they were getting out in transition, they were moving
the ballton Sometimes you know, it's just it's a make
or biss game, so it's hard for me to really
judge assist. But man, it's a there were a lot
of issues offensively. Defensively, I think we played arguably one

(10:17):
of the worst ways we could have played.

Speaker 3 (10:20):
So there's it can only go up from here, right.

Speaker 1 (10:24):
Sure? Yeah, yeah, yeah, I would say so.

Speaker 2 (10:28):
If Luca had a horrible shooting percentage a horrible shooting
night too, which he did, so shout out to him.
To your point, Kwaman, twenty five to six fast breakpoint
DEFICITI You're not gonna win a basketball game that way either.
So all around, you know, it did feel like the
Timberwolves were younger, more athletic in Hungary just across the board.

(10:50):
And you know, we talked about this offline. Their version
of their small ball lineup is still with a center
in nas Reed on the court, correct, you know, and
as deadly as a Luca Lebron, Austin Dfs you know,
or roy or gave Vincent on the court. It's that's

(11:13):
still tough to beat when you're also matching up with
a JD. McDaniels, who is a legit what six seven,
six eight just long? Also okay, yeah, yeah, all of
six nine, right, and then you even got McDaniels.

Speaker 3 (11:27):
Bro.

Speaker 1 (11:27):
McDaniels made Austin Reeves look.

Speaker 2 (11:29):
Small out there down in the pain and it's hard
to look at.

Speaker 1 (11:35):
What the Lakers have out there.

Speaker 2 (11:36):
They don't have strong, strong rebound I mean, who's their
best rebounder out there?

Speaker 1 (11:40):
Lebron, you know, which isn't great, you know what I'm saying.

Speaker 2 (11:46):
And then now you're asking those guys to put in
double the work, so you know, I think they're Excuse me,
there's a reason why folks are saying that there are
matchups that the Timberwolves in their fans can feel okay
about right, Like those are big.

Speaker 1 (12:01):
Guys, you know.

Speaker 2 (12:02):
Obviously Rudy Gobert he played, you know, however many minutes
he did, you know, had one block on Lebron that
was cute. But they still can provide a very long
athletic team. And you know, I hate to see us
get killed by nas reed, but it's like, goddamn, man,
you know what the scouting report is on the board.

Speaker 1 (12:22):
Don't don't leave him.

Speaker 2 (12:24):
If I said that was Klay Thompson ry, you'd be
tagged two to him. But it's not because it's you know,
jellyfam in the corner. I bet he learned his lesson.
I bet Luca was not you saw one. Luca was
not happy with Ruy helping off too to help him.
So you know, in any event, man, let's let's talk
a little bit about the others that the help you got.

(12:49):
Like we said, Jamie McDaniels contributing having a hell of
a performance out there, kil Alexander Walker.

Speaker 1 (12:57):
I'm not gonna lie man.

Speaker 2 (12:58):
You know me, if I'm not watching the Lakers, I'm
not watching a whole whole lot of other basketball. So
I always like to acknowledge, acknowledge when I see a
guy out there, and obviously I knew of him and
watch his game from Afar, But well, he's an impressive player,
man because he picked up Luca from the beginning of
the game three quarters court man.

Speaker 1 (13:19):
He was driven his shots from outside.

Speaker 2 (13:21):
I think the announcer saying he shot close to forty percent,
if not forty percent for three on the season.

Speaker 1 (13:26):
Man.

Speaker 2 (13:26):
So who stood out to you from Minnesota that you
know kind of exceeded your expectations or maybe.

Speaker 1 (13:33):
Was a little bit of a lightning in a bottle
for your eyes.

Speaker 4 (13:37):
I think the biggest anomaly out of all of them
was Jade McDaniels. For me, he had a hell of
a game, twenty five points, he missed two shots. He
shot eleven for thirteen like he wasn't missing nine boards.
You know, he was phenomenal out there. He was truly hooping.
I thought he had a great game, Nasried. I mean,
he's a reigning six Man of the Year, so I

(13:58):
expect him to come out and at eight games, and he.

Speaker 3 (14:01):
Kind of did.

Speaker 4 (14:02):
I mean, he did a little bit more than I expected,
but he definitely fit filled his role with six three pointers.
You could have you could have never you know bet
that and it felt super confident about it. But yeah, man,
I'll be honest with Timberwolves. There their whole line. You
look down they they all performed adequately, you know, for

(14:22):
their standards. I mean, Rudy Gobert didn't play a ton,
he didn't have a great game. He got some foul
trump early and honestly, that kind of play into the
Timberwolves hand. They got to get in Dante, DiVincenzo, they
got to get Nas Reed, the kids and water Walker.
So they're only you know, three guys off the bench
coming in eight eight player rotation and it's solid eight players.

Speaker 3 (14:42):
Man, there's really no.

Speaker 4 (14:43):
Bombs in that in that group of eight players, and
they they played hard.

Speaker 2 (14:47):
Man.

Speaker 4 (14:47):
Dante's always played hard, Like I said, nas six man
of the Year in the Keith Alexander Walker, uh six' five,
man he long. ARMS i, mean He's shay's, cousin so you,
know runs to the family a little bit with the
with the basketball at so he knows what he's doing
and he's been great for them all. Seasons so to be,
honest it's gonna be, tough LIKE i, do this would
be a dog. FIGHT i just didn't expect our players

(15:08):
to play as poorly as they. DID i, Mean ruy
didn't give us much nine, points AND i think like
six of that nine came in the first. Quarter it's
two really big threes to kind of start the, game
and you, know then he kind of shrunk to. Obscurity
lebron did not get going at the beginning well at,
all didn't score in the first, quarter then kind of
started to pick it up a little bit. Again jackson didn't,
Play Austin reeves did not have a great night on

(15:31):
offense or, Defense Dory Finney smith not making, shots Gave
vincent not really making. Shots Jared vanderbilt brought the. Energy
it was a tough game down the. Line luca was
the only person who kind of showed, up and you,
know he kind of slept walk his way to thirty seven.
Points so there's a lot to improve, on and that's
what gives me a ton of. Optimism but it was, difficult.

(15:51):
Man we had some difficult stretches and it was not.
Pleasing The timberwolves came out and they did their, thing
and you know they're. Hungry they're a hungry. Team they're
not gonna just lay. Down they got some good Confidence Anthony.
Edwards he didn't even have that great of a, game you,
know he didn't have this bang out insane.

Speaker 3 (16:06):
Game from a scoring, standpoint he was all, right twenty two.
Points took twenty two shots to get.

Speaker 4 (16:10):
That but what stands out to me With Anthony edwards
is the nine, assists one. Turnover he was making the
right read every time we sent. Help And i'm curious
why we never switched up the. Coverage why DID jj
never look to switch up the, coverage give him different.
LOOKS i don't know why he doesn't Put vando on.
HIM i don't know why we just lay down at
every ball screen and just automatically switch even if he

(16:31):
gives insane. MISMATCHES i don't. Know so that's a lot
of things that they're gonna have to look out for
a game. Too BUT i was disappointed with our, offense our.
DEFENSE i was upset with our schemes on both ends
of the. FLOOR i was disappointed with our players ability
to just go out and do what they're expected to.
Do to be, honest it was just a disappointing game

(16:52):
from almost every. Aspect WHEN i look at how The
lakers played the other, night and LIKE i, said that
gives me optimism because when you look at what was.

Speaker 3 (17:00):
Good there's not a lot. There there's not a lot.

Speaker 4 (17:01):
There so, again gives me a lot of confidence they'll
come Out game two and just play a much better.
Game and then you look, Conversely Minnesota, TIMBERWOLVES i, mean,
shit what more could they have asked for from their
team Outside Anthony edwards being more? Efficient outside of, that
almost everybody on their roster. Overperformed so you, know that
gives me a little bit.

Speaker 2 (17:20):
Optimism that's facts in your your wonderful, RECAP i REALIZED
i did it. Again even in my, NOTES i, SAID
i keep. CONFUSING i keep Confusing Nikhile Alexander walker For
jada McDaniels Because Alexander walker comes off the bench and McDaniels. Starts, yes, yeah,

(17:41):
YEAH i keep Confusingas, anyways, anyways two lanky niggas who
was getting buckets SO i mean twenty Five, yeah you,
know shout Out jada. McDaniels i did, NOT i did
not recognize game was like.

Speaker 1 (17:53):
That but he was hooping man like.

Speaker 4 (17:55):
That that's not what he does and it's, Okay and
again we were leaving ab. Open he played out of his.
Mind but you, know he's twelve per game on a
season he doubled his scoring, Average like you can't expect
that every. Night but, again you gotta get the timberlves
of their. Credit they played a hell of a game
and we just. Didn't, like it's really just they played
better than. Us, LIKE i really don't know what bore

(18:15):
to break down beyond. THAT i, mean obviously there's some
XT's in those things THAT i think we could have done,
better but they just played a hell of a. Game
you gotta tip your hat to. It we didn't really
get much, resistance you, know it's not like we we
guarded them super. Well but, again gives me a lot
of optimism for a better game, too and a better
series overall because they've seen how bad it could. Get
hopefully The lakers don't dip their toes back in that.

Speaker 2 (18:37):
Water yeah, no it's it's funny Now game two is you,
know not, technically but it definitely feels like a must
win On tuesday for The.

Speaker 1 (18:48):
Lakers, so, hey what's going on?

Speaker 2 (19:57):

Speaker 1 (20:03):
PAGE i was out. THERE i know.

Speaker 2 (20:08):

got banned because like it was like some two thousands like,
graphics motion graphics Of timberwolves doing freaky stuff to stuff
like after each.

Speaker 1 (20:23):
Game you don't remember.

Speaker 3 (20:26):
THAT i can't SAY i recall.

Speaker 1 (20:28):
That. NOW i feel Like i'm too on. LINE i

Speaker 2 (20:31):
Online but, bro Like i'll throw it on the, Timeline
i'll ask the question.

Speaker 1 (20:35):
Again but, yeah That Timberwolves brazil account WAS i just don't.
KNOW i just don't want to know what they're up
to after game.

Speaker 3 (20:45):
One So.

Speaker 2 (20:48):
I'm, sorry like like he was that weird with. It so, yeah, okay.

Speaker 1 (20:57):
It's a game.

Speaker 4 (20:58):
Two what what what did The lakers the to do
different to pull out and win a game?

Speaker 3 (21:02):
Two what do they got to do?

Speaker 2 (21:03):
Differently i'll be honest with, you, MAN jj said it
was just a lack of.

Speaker 1 (21:10):
Effort that sounded a little little, hammy little hammish to.

Speaker 2 (21:18):
Me, WOW i think there's gotta be more adjustments than
just going into a two three zone on.

Speaker 1 (21:24):
DEFENSE i said this on the.

Speaker 2 (21:27):
Timeline, yes three of these games were Without luca on the,
team but now in three of the five games The
lakers have played The timberwolves this, season they've scored less
than one hundred.

Speaker 1 (21:44):
Points two of those games were in the mid.

Speaker 2 (21:46):
Eighties bro that that at least says to me that
some of Our lakers are struggling to get their shit
off against The.

Speaker 1 (21:55):
Timberwolves AND i WISH.

Speaker 2 (21:56):
I did a little bit more homework to see If
austin was one of those ones that's struggling to get
a ship, off Because austin struggled to get his ship
off last.

Speaker 1 (22:05):
Night he looked kinda kind of look like undrafted white
chocolate out. There it. Was it was still the.

Speaker 2 (22:16):
Dribbles will's kind of convict, music a kind of young
jeezy trying to take it easy out, There free Little
dirk out, There Free Austin reeves out.

Speaker 1 (22:28):
There not good, man not.

Speaker 3 (22:32):
Good SO i got the stats for you real.

Speaker 1 (22:35):
Quick give me the stats please.

Speaker 4 (22:36):
For Austin reeves prior to last night's. Game in the
three games against The timberwolves this, Season Austin reeves average
seventeen point seven, rebounds fave, assists shooting forty thirty three
percent from. Three, yeah he's not been dynamic per se

(23:00):
against The timberwolves this. Season in the three games that
he played, Again slum.

Speaker 1 (23:04):
This nigga's unscared straight up.

Speaker 3 (23:06):
There m. HMM i don't think we anticipated THAT i.

Speaker 1 (23:10):
DID i did.

Speaker 2 (23:11):
NOT i did not do those calculations point dexter. BEFORE
i did not do.

Speaker 1 (23:15):
Them BUT i THINK i see a little.

Speaker 2 (23:18):
BIT i think we see a little bit of uh,
huh well that's. INTERESTING i don't know something somebody keep note.
Of If boston struggles in game, two you, know regardless
of a winner, LOSS i think you kind of have
to trust the patterns that maybe Just minnesota's just you,
know they do have a nice palette of defenders that

(23:39):
they can throw At. AUSTIN i think somebody was talking
about it that you know their best, defender you, know
would you Say jada McDaniels or antheyoits as far as,
McDaniels jada McDaniels number two would Be Anthony edwards right.

Speaker 1 (23:57):
Perimeter, yeah then you Know julie real.

Speaker 2 (24:01):
QUICK i do need to, Know, kuwalms our Resident lebron,
historian we understand the feel out game. Process, HELL i
even hear That luca has a feel out game one.
PROCESS i would really love that if that just wasn't a,
Thing but, hell that that's where we're At if anyone
deserves a feel out, game, one it's forty year Old Bron.

(24:24):
Bron but this was the first time that he did
not score in the first quarter of a playoff.

Speaker 1 (24:29):
Game in his.

Speaker 2 (24:30):
CAREER i can't imagine that that was part of the. Script,
so you, Know i'm, Wondering, kwalm what was your your
concern Watching? Lebron where where was that at for the?

Speaker 1 (24:42):
Night?

Speaker 3 (24:42):
Did?

Speaker 2 (24:43):
What did it feel? Like another feel out game of?
His AND i think he even said as such after
the game that sometimes it could take a quarter a
half a game to get a feel for the. Playoffs
lakers did have some time. Off so what what do
you make of? It?

Speaker 1 (25:01):
Brother you, KNOW.

Speaker 3 (25:04):
I THINK i THINK i attributed to a few.

Speaker 4 (25:06):
Things, AGAIN i think, One lebron is trying to make
a conscious effort to make Sure luca is driving the,
offense that he is not the engine.

Speaker 3 (25:15):
Anymore it Is Luka. Doncic so he's making.

Speaker 4 (25:18):
Sure that's WHAT i. Mean we've seen it Since lucas showed.
Up he's had immaculate first. Quarters almost every game that he's.
Played he has, really really good first. QUARTERS i think
that's almost. Intentional lebron tries to get out the way
and Let luca do his. Thing the issue is is
when he came back in after his early sub out
and you, Know luca goes to the bench and he
kind of runs the show With, reeves he could not

(25:39):
find his. Offense AND i think that's a bit of you,
know to The timberwolves. Credit they're a, long switch heavy
and athletic, team and you Saw lebron struggle with that
at athleticism at times he couldn't get by his player
and that in those moments he typically tries to rely
on his jump shot and that wasn't clicking either to
start that. Game so it was looking, like, okay how

(26:01):
do we get about this? Now usually that's kind of
When reeves can take the reins and do some, things
but he struggled as. Well, so LIKE i, SAID i
felt like that's where the turning point in the game,
was was when that shift came in And lebron And
reeves could not hold the lead or do anything to you,
know resist The timberwolves starting to pull away a little.
Bit but as For, lebron, MAN i THINK i don't

(26:25):
know how HE i think it's just gonna have to
be one of those THINGS i, mean he's a rhythm.
Player he needs the ball to kind of get himself in,
rhythm get other people in. Rhythm AND i think it
took The. LAKERS i think The lakers almost seemed like
they were surprised by like the, intensity the, physicality the
way The timberwolves were. Playing it took them like two
and a half quarters for them to kind of. Match

(26:45):
that's basically When Van do got in the shift is
when they kind of started to, Understand, okay this is
where this is the intensity we need to. Bring and
they kind of walked out there with the lull like
these guys are gonna lay down kind of after that
first mini jab we gave them in the first quarter
and we got UP i think like seven points or.

Speaker 3 (27:03):
SO i think they were, like, oh this is this
should be.

Speaker 4 (27:05):
Easy and Then minnesota started to kick up the, intensity
started playing, faster and it looked like The lakers were
just behind and they could never catch. That, so you,
Know lebron's played more playoff games than any current player
in THE. Nba but THE nba, HISTORY i, mean it's
probably some record he's sitting, on but you.

Speaker 3 (27:21):
KNOW i struggle with it BECAUSE i know he could be.

Speaker 4 (27:23):
Better but it's, like, man is this really where we're
starting to see some of the limitations Of Lebron james,
AGAIN i think the, athleticism as we obviously, see he
struggled getting by his. Player you, know he got two
tough possessions where he got, blocked like back to, back
but one by Nas reed and the other By Rudy.

Speaker 3 (27:41):
GOBERT i don't know they're.

Speaker 4 (27:42):
Necessarily back to, back but he got his stuff, punched
both on left hand, layups you, know driving from the.
Perimeter so it's, AGAIN i expect him to be. BETTER
i Expect austin to be, better AND i think they will.
BE i don't necessarily know if that was a feel out.
Game i'm sure it's a feel out game for, everybody.
Right you, know you got to see how the other
team's gonna guard, you what's their game, plan what's their, rotations,

(28:03):
like you, know everything changes for the. Playoffs but one
team just felt like they were much more comfortable than the,
other and one team felt like they were much more, alert,
awake ready for the moment as compared to The, lakers
and that that that's a bit disheartening because some of
that stuff was just. Effort you, know we weren't getting
on the. BOARDS i, mean what do we get out
rebounded thirty eight to forty, four which isn't bad our.

(28:24):
Starters nobody in the starting lineup had more than eight,
rebounds and that was By luca everyone. Else you, know
we missed some possessions where we needed to get some,
rebounds kind of close our defense. Out IT'S i think
there's a lot to talk about with this. One it's
just not a lot good. Man there's a lot of
things that could be short, up cleaned, up and that's
WHY i think will ultimately be. Better But lebron, MAN

(28:44):
i don't know IF i can call that a feel out.
GAME i just felt like he couldn't get his own
feel of the game, right and by the time he,
did the tim roles were long gone and they weren't looking.

Speaker 2 (28:53):
Back, yeah it might have been a fill out game For,
lebron but for The, wolves it was that was that
wasn't no.

Speaker 1 (29:02):
Feeling it took.

Speaker 4 (29:03):
Him like eight minutes to field stuff. Out they got
they got, down figured it out.

Speaker 2 (29:07):
And THEY i don't know If Olivia benson was in
the h was in the, crowd But Special Victims union
was was called to the scene after the. Game kwame
that wasn't no feeling that.

Speaker 1 (29:21):
Was that was. Intense, yeah they got rough, right they got.

Speaker 2 (29:28):
Rough, man and so to watch something like that on,
television it's it's a little jarn and you gotta fights
back in game, two, LIKE i felt.

Speaker 3 (29:44):
Like there was a lot of things they didn't. Match the,
intensity not to be that. Guy felt like the, crowd
it felt like a regular season. Crowd you.

Speaker 4 (29:51):
KNOW i watched all the other playoff games that, day
and The coronas were. Rocking bro felt like The lakers,
were you, know they were. Chilling you, know it didn't
feel like the crowd. Game the, energy the players didn't
seem like they're ready for the. Moment it literally seemed
from top down every aspect you look, at nobody within
that arena that sided with The lakers is ready for the.

Speaker 3 (30:13):
Moment and it. Showed it, showed like you, said it was.
Not it was not a great.

Speaker 4 (30:17):
Showing it was ugly in that. ROLE i don't know
what's going on WITH jj and why he hasn't made that,
adjustment that. SWITCH i don't, know BUT i was hoping
that you, know this basketball sicco of a MIND Jj
reddick has self proclaimed himself to be would really, have
would really have had something a little better in his
treasure chest of you, KNOW i was here in all.
Season oh you, know he's he's saving plays and looks

(30:40):
for the playoffs AND i. AIN'T i ain't seen in game.
One so he's got something, hitting he's got a card.
Up if he's got you, know ace up his, sleeve
please bring that out and let's see what's going on.
Here But i'd like To i'd like to SEE jj
in the coaching staff be a little better.

Speaker 3 (30:54):
Here.

Speaker 4 (30:54):
MAN i did not like their game, plan AND i
think it really it really demoralized the play because THEY
i assume they're following the game, plan and then when
they start to get out of, reach you got people
looking at the, bench what's the, adjustment what's the? ADJUSTMENT
i don't, KNOW i don't. KNOW jj really looked like
a rookie head. Coach we got to remember that he
is a rookie head. Coach he's been, phenomenal you, know
fifty one, season he did his. Thing but these are

(31:16):
the moments where these these were coaches make a name for.
Themselves adjustments of the, playoffs you get judged off your
playoff performances in the in THE, nba not on your
regular season. Records so IF jj really wants the true,
test he's got to come alive in the, playoffs and
he's a great opportunity On, tuesday.

Speaker 2 (31:32):
Well, Said well, said, Brother we will see On. Tuesday and,
SELFISHLY i don't think we've disclosed this at. All we
are especially invested in this game, too, man BECAUSE kwam
AND i have plans on Hitting game four up In.
MINNESOTA i don't know if you guys know this or
we talk about it pretty fairly. Often you know's the

(31:54):
reason WHY i Named Late Night Lake. Show we're in
The chicago, area so On Central, time, right so All
lakers games start at like NINE, pm get done at
like eleven eleven, thirty, right so it's it's late nine
for the. Gag you get a gag. Gang but this
is probably one of those like solar eclipses that just
worked out perfectly that The lakers are playing the Most

(32:16):
Midwest western conference team in the playoffs and The, timberwolves
like you, know for, Reference i'm sure a lot Of
california folks don't have any idea About midwest. Proximity for.
Stuff but it's you, know it's a short five five
and a half hour drive From chicago To. Minneapolis So,
kwamina we are planning on going to the, game we

(32:38):
reserve the right to say we are not going to the.

Speaker 1 (32:41):
Game if The lakers.

Speaker 2 (32:43):
Are down three to, zero we will salvage our money
and save our gas money.

Speaker 1 (32:48):
And sell off those tickets with no shame on the.
Heart And i'm putting that on the. Record but if it's,
not we will be in the. Building we will have
that hashtag good content for. Y'all maybe we'll do.

Speaker 2 (33:00):
Interview let me get one of the microphones you on
the street. Interviews we'll see. Go but, Yeah lakers just
gotta take business On tuesday and then we will worry
about everything after.

Speaker 1 (33:10):
That.

Speaker 2 (33:11):
Kwime i'm assuming the prediction is A lakers, Victory lakers
bounce back.

Speaker 4 (33:14):
Win, yeah it has to. Be you cannot go To.
Minnesota what they gotta doing In. Minnesota what they be
doing In, minnesota, nothing you, know.

Speaker 2 (33:24):
Fishing fishing season is, AMAZING i feel.

Speaker 4 (33:27):
You but they're gonna be at that. Game they got
nothing else going, on so they're gonna be packed in that.
Area they're gonna be acting a fool up in. There
lakers cannot go To minnesota down oh. Two that's the.
Case pack your bags for the early. SUMMER i expect
them to come out with a whole different, energy a
whole different. Intensity that expect them to come out and
Win game. Two in my, opinion it's a must win
game for, me and that sucks to say this early

(33:49):
in the, series but you can't. Go you can't go
on the road losing both home. Games we're one of
the best home teams all. Year they gotta they gotta
gut it. Out so whatever, happens people got to be
ready to. Play they gotta give their best performances of this,
season and they gotta come out with a.

Speaker 3 (34:01):
Dubs SO i am predicting The lakers w.

Speaker 1 (34:05):
Same.

Speaker 2 (34:06):
Here, man gotta bounce. Back you gotta shake the. Game
we're on rust. Off you, Know lakers didn't play that
last game of this recular. Season blah blah. Blah, yep bounce.
Back figure it. Out all sins of. Forgiven let's go To.
Minnesota game tied up.

Speaker 4 (34:20):
One that's straight we could that's that's eight for a
team to win in. Five they gotta lose, one, Right
so just same.

Speaker 2 (34:26):
One that's the, Saying so let's lean on, that lean on,
me but we gonna get up out of. Here appreciate
y'all rocking with. Us appreciate y'all really rocking with, us
if you still you know. LISTENING i know we took
a little bit of a highatus, year but playoff time
we got to be back, back so you, know here we.
Are i'm excited to be with y'all and back in the.
Sattle we hopefully have some pretty fun live shows lined

(34:49):
