Speaker 1 (00:00):
A midweek done news update for you guys, and of
course the community is all still talking about the chang
hard fork. It has happened. It kind of went smoothly.
I'm going to point out some news stories here where
it didn't go too well for a couple of projects.
One in particular has decided to sunset as well, so
we're going to go through that as well as a
reminder for some statepoard operators out there that they do
(00:21):
need to upgrade to another node version here. There are
some issues here that we do need to pay attention to.
All right, all that coming up in this news update.
Hey everyone, I'm Peter Bury. If this is your first
time here, please consider hitting that thumbs up, hit that
like button, subscribe notification bell, and I'll keep you up
to date with everything that's happening in the Cadina ecosystem now.
A couple of other YouTubers, etc. Have been covering this
(00:44):
one here, and this is about burning the Genesis keys.
I would love to see the publishing of at least
one of the private keys of the initial Genesis keys
that we used to create the Kadana ecosystem, the Calina blockchain,
and if we could publish that we could prove that
the Genesis keys are now absolutely useless. Someone could verify
(01:05):
the usage of them and see if they can still
be used or not. So i'd love to actually see
that in action in practice. Now. I did read elsewhere
in other tweets and other people's comments that probably shouldn't
publish all of them. Here we go. It turns out
that publishing all seven private keys would be a bad
idea for a subtle security risk foreseeable future. Someone with
(01:27):
all seven keys could trick someone someone replaying from Genesis
into an alternative timeline. So it would be cool to
publish one of them and burn the rest. At least so,
I'd love to see at least one published to prove
that it can't be used on the brand new era
of the Cadina ecosystem. That would be an ultimate proof
(01:48):
that the keys are completely useless. We've yet to see that.
I believe that our talking about it, but hopefully we
do see it. Maybe they'll make a big event out
of something, you know, the whole pr marketing side of things.
This next news story from Nicholas here talks about chang
one and where do we go from here? And I
thought this was a really well written piece here, and
(02:09):
there's a couple of things I would want to point
out here. So at the moment, we are in this
intrim period from Chang one to Chang two. Now during
the interm phase, there are a couple of actions that
still can happen on chain. So these are three out
of the total seven actions that can be put on chain.
Protocol parameter changes, hard falk initiations, and INFO actions. So
(02:30):
the protocol parameter changes are mainly around the statepool operations
such as the K parameter, so they have been talked
about changing the K parameter already and I'll bring that
up in a moment. Also, the hard fork initiation, of course,
we do need to move to the next chang era,
Chang two, so the hard fork needs to be initiated
somehow within the ecosystem. And the last one here info actions,
(02:53):
which have no on chain effect at all. De reps,
SBOS and ICC can vote on these INFO actions, and
of course the community has started having fun around this.
We've seen an INFO action here put on chain for voting.
I believe it was Adam Dean that put this up.
I'm looking at the code here and I'm probably as
(03:13):
and you're looking at this, you're probably confused as I am.
But essentially this info action has been put up and
it's voting for something to do with Hosky. I have
to look into this one. I didn't want to spend
a huge amount of time digging into it and looking
up the ipfs here to see what was going on,
but you can probably cop that copy that, look at
(03:33):
the ipsipfs file online and see what these guys are
all talking about here. So yeah, I did get a
notification from the RVP platform that Nils has created as well.
I'll put links down below to that one. It's an
interesting one. I will cover it in a future video,
but I did get a notification about that that something
is going on here and the guys are playing around
(03:54):
with some info actions and government actions are coming online,
so they are playing around with things like that. So
it's good to see the community. I'm doing things like
this now. There are two other things I like to
point out here. In one, the treasury withdrawals and governance
actions are not possible during this intrim phase. I've mentioned
this before. Some people are still confused about this. People
(04:15):
are thinking we can withdraw like millions of eight at
the moment. No, that won't happen till after Chang two.
The last comment here in the article that I'd also
like to mention is that this bootstrapping phase that we're
in at the moment, this intrum phase, must last for
at least eighteen epochs, so approximately ninety days. Therefore, the
earliest possible date for Chang Too Hard Fork to be
(04:36):
ratified is after November thirtieth, so that's why we're having
this big ratification events and born US areas in December.
So we don't know the exact date of that yet.
I don't think the details have been announced, but sometime
in December there will be that big ratification and the
next hard Fork, so I'm looking forward to that event.
I did look up flights to try and get over
to Borneous areas. It's a forty one hour flight for me,
(05:00):
which is insane and over four thousand Australian dollars. So
I don't think I will go, especially close to Christmas time.
It's just not a good time to travel. It's gonna
be very busy and that's a very expensive flight, so
I don't think I'll be going it is a once
in a lifetime event, but far out that's a very
expensive flight. Anyway, the ICC and SBOS must approve this
(05:24):
hard fork in December to trigger chang Tu. So this
is all from the point of view and in the
hands of the community itself. So for whatever reason, SBOS
might get up in arms and say, hey, no, we
don't want this hard fork, we want to live like
this forever. So who knows. So I'm pretty sure it
will be smooth sailing. But this is the first hard
(05:48):
fork that be initiated by the community and not the
founding members. So this is another really really big milestone
for the community as well. Now I mentioned this one,
so I'll talk about this one just briefly. Now this
is from the Parameters Committee, a working group that is
looking at changing the parameters for the protocol. Like I said,
the parameters is one thing that can change at the
(06:10):
moment in this entrant phase, and the Parameter Committee is
looking at moving that K parameter. The number of staatepools
that actually mint blocks in the CADDA ecosystem two one thousand,
currently at five hundred at the moments, or only five
hundred state pools are needed to mint blocks in the ecosystem.
So moving this to one thousand will allow a lot
more stappool operators to mint blocks. So we'll see how
(06:33):
this one goes here. I haven't been ken be up
with the conversations within the discord server, but I'll keep
you guys up to date as soon as I find
out any more information about this one. Now. In a
couple of taturis I've done, I've talked about explorers that
look at the parameters around the governance side of things,
and the Kadana Foundation have updated the explorer that they
(06:53):
have built with more of the governance side of things.
You can see it here. This is at beta dot
explorer dot co don dot org. You can find the
links down the side here that go to the various
parameters and data that's now on chain around governance. This
is the delegated Representatives or de reps. These are all
(07:15):
the people that have registered online to be de reps,
and there are one hundred and sixty seven de reps
that have registered at the moment, and I do know
there are people that have registered by mistake. And there
is an update with an eternal wallet that's coming really
soon that will allow you to de register if you're
accidentally registered as a de rep, and you will get
(07:37):
that five hundred A back that's used as a deposit.
You can also go to Beta dot Eternal do io
and do that process right now because that's their testing
area that's connected to Maintenace. So if you want that
five hundred A to back because you're accidentally registered, you
can do so. And we can see from the total
de reps here that two people at least have retired
(08:00):
their wallets because maybe they accidentally registered. But have a
look at the explorer here. I will look at and
highlight a few more, but you can see various people
that have registered and put their data online. Now, if
you are interested in becoming a de rep, I've done
tutorials on my other channel. Yes, I have another channel,
(08:20):
another channel that's dedicated purely to tutorials and broader conversations
that I can talk about. But you can check out
the video to tours here. I've got one that's upgrading
your Ledger one of these devices here up to the
latest version with the Codono app so that you can
participate in governance. And then I'll show you how to
register it as a de rep and delegate to a
(08:42):
de rep or simply using the Eternal mobile app, which
a lot of people do to register as a de
rep or delegate to someone as well. So I put
a few tutorios out there already, and if you're interested,
please follow that secondary channel where I'll be talking about
a lot more crypto stuff in general and more so
like this stuff here, like check this out. This is
(09:03):
a Tangent hardware wallet. These are the cards. I haven't
even opened this one yet. This is I'm saving that
for a big video that I'm going to do for
a review about the Tangent hardware wallets. So this channel
here is dedicated to that kind of stuff, So do
subscribe to that one if you're interested. I've got various
hardware wallets that I've got my hands on. I might
(09:24):
have one of those Tangent rings as well coming in
the post, and I'd love to do more content around
that that's more generic about crypto in general, so do
check out that channel. Of course, I'll always have this
one here and always be focusing on things from a
Cadana point of view. Now, I do these videos and
regular basis to keep you guys up to date with
(09:44):
everything that's happening. I do all these interviews and I
don't get paid for any of this. All my revenue
primarily comes from the YouTube ads and sell of NFTs.
So if you want to support the channel, you can
become a channel member. You can have a look here.
These are all my fantastic channel members at the moment.
You can subscribe if you have the means to do so,
(10:07):
and it's just a prize of a cup of coffee,
so I've kept it as low as possible, so if
you can, if you do have the means, if you
do want to support, you can do so that way,
and it keeps me going, keeps me motivated, and keeps
me producing these videos for you guys. If you can't
afford that, that's totally fine. You don't need to. Don't
feel guilty that you can't. But if you can at
(10:29):
least hit that like a subscribe button, it helps with
the algorithm and it helps me get these videos out
there for at the community. Now, with that out of
the way, let's get back to it now. It's really
good to see that a lot of people are become
de reps. You can see from the explorer here, we've
got one hundred and sixty seven de reps at the moment,
and we're seeing more and more people step up from
the community to become de reps, and this is absolutely fantastic.
(10:52):
There's a lot of voices out there that have no
idea what they're doing, a lot of people that have
a lot of aida and they've voice to be heard.
But in the whole noise of crypto Twitter, on the
discord and all these places, perhaps their voices aren't being heard,
and becoming a de rep allows you to be able
to connect with those people and raise their concerns that
(11:16):
they may have in the community. So here, I'm based
in Australia and I do local meetups here in Brisbane
and I engage with a lot of people. So that's
the main reason why I want to become a de rep.
I wanted to help those people understand what's going on
in the ecosystem and then also help voice their opinions
within the space as well. So a lot of these
(11:37):
people they may just hold the ada it maybe millions
up Vader, there's actually quite a few millionaire eight holders
here in Australia and they want their voices heard as well,
but they don't want to dox themselves or appear on
YouTube or whatever it is. So having a voice as
a de rep is really important to allow these people
to be heard. So that's why I became a de rep.
(11:59):
And it's really good to see other people such as
Caleb here come into the space and become de reps
as well. Now, if you're wanting to find a de rep,
it is a little bit hard at the moment, and
if you crawl on X you'll be able to find
various profiles and people that are registering as de reps.
You can search for this particular key term de rep
(12:20):
and you'll be able to find them on X. But
this website here is brilliance. So the Lighto Nation team
have put this one together. It talks about the Constitution,
all this stuff, and then put together a really visual,
a really nice way to see the activity around these
various de reps. Unfortunately, at the time recording it's not working,
so I can't demo it for you, but I did
(12:42):
do and cover this in my video here that talks
about registering on the Eternal mobile app, and you can
see that in action there when it was working. Fortunately
it's not working now, maybe I'll slice it in this
during post production. But you can check out that website.
You can click on the various de reps that have
registered from that derep list and see what they're all about.
(13:05):
You can read their profiles, you can find out how
they vote, what direction they potentially would vote, and you
can delegate your wallet to those particular de reps. Now,
the interesting thing here is that your delegation to de
reps can be fluid. You can move your voting power
from one person to another based on how that particular
de rep will vote. So if I, for example, vote
(13:27):
against the parameter changes for the K parameter and I
want the statepools to remain only be five hundred state
pools to be minting, so keeping that K paramba at
five hundred, for example, and you don't like the idea,
you can move your delegation elsewhere and vote for someone
that is wanting that K parameter to change to one thousand.
(13:48):
So there's a lot of fluidity in those voting mechanisms
at the moment, and it is just as fluid as
staking and delegating your ata for staking to stakepool operators.
So it's going to be an interesting to see how
the community moves their voting power across the ecosystem as
we have governments come into play. But check out that
(14:11):
website sixteen nine to four dot io if you're wanting
to find other d reps too. Now, in terms of
the technical sides of the hard fork, it wasn't exactly
perfect smooth selling overall. As a user, transactions were still
going through, blocks are being minted. Everything seemed to be
working okay, And I personally didn't see any issues myself.
(14:34):
I was still in DeFi interacting with smart contracts and
everything was okay. Now, Pie here was working hard helping
various projects go through and fix bugs that they encountered.
And this is a very very long thread, and I
will go through this in another video. The amount of
(14:55):
knowledge that came out of this thread deserves its own video,
so do tune in for that. It will come out
in the next couple of days. But Pie goes through
all the things that he helped resolve on various protocols
out there to make things a little bit more smoother.
One of the biggest things here was the fact that
the now reference scripts do cost, So if you're referencing
(15:16):
a script that's already online. It does cost money, so
people had to update those various verous inputs. So it's
interesting to read through this one. If you want to
get catch up with it now, I'll put a link
down below for you. Now Here is one platform that
didn't make the cut, and this is Create and I've
just Created in the past as well. I've interacted with
(15:36):
various artists selling their NFTs on the platform and I
absolutely love it. It's a really nice way for artists
to have a little hub and be able to sell
that artwork and it was quite nice what the guys
did there. Unfortunately, with a broken heart, I think it's
time to consider a sunset plan for Create, and that
is really unfortunate. I know a lot of artists that
(15:59):
were relying on that platform to sell their art and
it's really unfortunate. But there's a lot of work that
was needed to make their smart contracts compatible with this
later era, so a lot of script changes, a lot
of updates there, and for a small team that wasn't
making much money. The NFT market is very low at
(16:20):
the moment. There isn't much trading and volume and sales
of NFTs and artwork in general at the moment, which
is really unfortunate, and as a result, Creates is looking
at sunsetting. Perhaps maybe someone would come in and buy
the platform. There are ideas behind that. Some other people
are considering this, so here we go considering acquisation offers.
(16:44):
I'd be interested, so maybe there is a way to
revive the platform. I personally do love it and I
hope it does get revived. I don't have the type
of funds or knowledge to be able to take over
a platform like this, but it is definitely something that's
needed in our community. Overall, wasn't perfect smooth sailing for
everyone involved, all the protocols out there and here, as
(17:05):
you can see, as a result, create is sunsetting their
platform and looking for alternatives. Now. In other news, Aiken
have switched to a brand new era. Yep, we've gone
through the Conway era where now pass that first initial
chain hard fork, but a can hear the smart contract
language for Cadano that every protocol is using out there
these days is going into general availability. That is, they're
(17:30):
going from alpha, a beta stage of their smart contact
language to general release. You can now see on their
GitHub repo they're now at version one point one, which
means they're no longer in that alpha phase where things
could break. This is now a very refined programming language
that everyone is using, and like I said, almost everyone
(17:51):
is using it out there, so it's really good to
see that they've gone to this point. There is a
lot of support from the community, a lot of support
from protocols that are using as well as well as
the Kadana Foundation, so it's really good to see that
they've gone to this point. I think Aiken is the
future for smart contracts on Cadana in general. Now, the
(18:12):
last news story I'd like to bring it up is
the node versions, and if you're a stakepool operator or
if you're delegating to someone and you're in contact with
your operator, make sure they're upgrading to the latest version
here nine point one point one. This is a hot
fix to fix the restart issues that some node operators
are having. So when the nodes restarted, they would have
(18:33):
to replay the entire blockchain on the node from Genesis,
and this takes a lot of time a bit of
computational power could take up to one and a half
hours to do so, and as a result, there are
a lot of node operators that are not in sync
with a chain at the moment and aren't producing blocks properly.
Our pool was affected with this as well, so we
had to go through and upgrade all our nodes so
(18:53):
it wouldn't have this type of issue. So if you
are seeing this on one of your nodes that you're
delegated to, please make sure that you contact your operator
and make sure they're upgrading for the latest version. You
can check here on pooltool dot io the node versions
that people are reporting. Here you can see the nine
point one point one pools have upgraded so far, and
(19:15):
there's still another fifty eight percent that haven't upgraded. So
make sure you contact your operator. If you are an operator,
make sure you updupgrade your nodes as well. That's all
I have for this particular news update. Hopefully you guys
got something out of it. Make sure you hit that
thumbs up like subscribe on your way out. I'll see
you in the next video.
