Speaker 1 (00:00):
Okay, the future of web three education is quite interesting
and when you tie in AI and incentive programs to it.
We have a lot going on. I have Nathan here
from Olympus Insights and we're going to go through their
platform what they're building. Well, actually I'm having him on
again on the podcast here to talk through the platform

(00:21):
and some really cool updates as well. But Nathan, welcome
back to the podcast.

Speaker 2 (00:24):
Yeah, goody everyone, Pete, thanks for having me. You've been
a long term supporter of what we're doing, and they've
been a long so term supporter of the channel is
always great.

Speaker 3 (00:32):
Having time to catch up. I know how busy things get.

Speaker 1 (00:35):
Yeah, Now, last time I think it was almost a
year ago when I had you on the podcast and
we had a big overview of the platform. You've had
your launch since and you've got a lot of really
exciting uptake of the platform, which is really really cool.
But for those that don't know, can you give us
a bit of an update and overview about what Olympus
Insights is.

Speaker 3 (00:54):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (00:54):
So, Olympics Inscience itself is the parent company for AI
and blockchain ed tech company. So we have produced two products,
which is the OLI Education platform, which is live.

Speaker 3 (01:05):
Anyone can come and join for free.

Speaker 2 (01:06):
There's over one hundred and seventy lessons on there at
the moment getting you into all things. Web three as
currently coming up to ninety thousand students learning on the
platform at the moment.

Speaker 3 (01:17):
So super excited.

Speaker 2 (01:18):
About that and our other products, which I'm incredibly excited
about from a web three perspective, but also just as
a long term teacher oli AI tutor. You literally share
your screen with it and we'll talk you through anything
you want to learn about, from your high school maths
through to studying a crypto chart, installing your lay swallow,

(01:38):
whatever it might be. It'll talk you through all of it.
It's absolutely incredible.

Speaker 1 (01:42):
Yeah, I've seen a couple of videos of you demonstrating
that and it looks pretty cool. And I always thought,
is this going to put you out of work? Because
I know you're an educated teacher as well, or used
to be, I should say, but that could that put
teachers out of work?

Speaker 3 (01:56):
That's not the goal.

Speaker 2 (01:57):
So the goal is for it to be a support,
a support to all on a facilitator to help the
teacher's job be easier. So I've been saying this for
years now that a lot of people don't understand. As
a classroom teacher, you have one hour a day with
your students in high school, at least one hour a
day with that class. Out of that sixty minutes, you
have about ten to fifteen minutes in the setup and

(02:19):
the initial teaching, and about ten minutes at the other
end for packing up. That leaves you about thirty minutes
thirty five minutes normally about thirty two students in the class.
We're talking about one minute per student per day that
the teacher can spend with individualized help. That's not enough
to achieve anything. That's barely enough to say hello and
find out how they're feeling. If you want to make
a substantial impact on somebody's life and help them to

(02:41):
enhance their educational outage and they achieve more goals, they
need a heck of a lot more time than that.
So that was one of the biggest things that want
to help us want to create this AI tutor because
it means we can give you twenty four to seven access,
three sixty five days a year to the world's best educator.
You can customize it personality, you can talk to it

(03:01):
like it's a person sitting there next to you, and
because you share your screen with it, it literally watches
you as you learn, as you grow, as you make mistakes,
and as you fail forward. If anyone's checked out our
YouTube channel, you would have seen the video where I
designed this logo with the tutor. I've got no graphic
design skills at all. We had a flat white logo
and I said, I need to make some merch We're

(03:23):
heading over to Singapore, heading over to Japan.

Speaker 3 (03:25):
I need to make some T shirts. What do I do?

Speaker 2 (03:28):
I recommended Adobe Illustrator downloaded installed, and it talked me
through the whole process, from putting the image on there,
to putting the color wash across and exporting it with
a transparent background.

Speaker 3 (03:39):
Everything.

Speaker 2 (03:39):
It's really unlimited. The potential for this as a learning
tool to support the teacher so the teacher can do
their job day to day. Students, if they are to
most schools that bring your own device now, they can
be working with it in a chat function if they
need to. When they're at home, out of the class environment,
they can talk to it. Because a lot of students,
like even myself, I feel much more having a conversation

(04:01):
that I do having the type read type read. It
just makes it a real nice human flow and it's
better than any tutor that you could ever get because
traditional tutors are one hundred bucks an hour as often
a UNI student, it's not even an expert in that field.
We're bringing you the expert in all fields and it's
going to be ten bucks a month, so tenx cheaper.

(04:21):
I don't even should calculate how many X is. The
amount of time is that you get with it, and
the fact that you get every field of education, it's
just unmatched.

Speaker 1 (04:30):
Yeah, AI is definitely of ground breaking change in education.
So we'll see what the uptake is like on the
platform and so where things go next with AI and education,
especially around the crypto side of things. Now, I do
these videos and regular basis to keep you guys up
to date with everything that's happening. I do all these
interviews and I don't get paid for any of this.

(04:53):
All my revenue primarily comes from the YouTube ads and
sell of NFTs. So if you want to support the channel,
you can become a channel member. You can have a
look here. These are all my fantastic channel members at
the moment. You can subscribe if you have the means
to do so, and it's just a prize of a
cup of coffee, So I've kept it as low as possible.

(05:16):
So if you can, if you do have the means,
if you do want to support, you can do so
that way, and it keeps me going, keeps me motivated,
and keeps me producing these videos for you guys. If
you can't afford that, that's totally fine. You don't need to.
Don't feel guilty that you can't. But if you can
at least hit that like and subscribe button, it helps
with the algorithm and it helps me get these videos

(05:38):
out there for at the community. Now, with that out
of the way, let's get back to it now. I
know that you've posted this on your x feed a
while back, and I kind of like this post is
I'm just quoting it here. Crypto doesn't have a coin problem,
it has an education problem. Can you unpack that for us?
What do you mean here? And how is this trying

(05:58):
to close the gap in education in the crypto space.

Speaker 2 (06:02):
Yeah, I think that's probably a topic itself that we
could probably have a several hour conversation on. But as
we know, there's like several thousand different coins in the
crypto ecosystem. That's not the problem. The problem is having
an education and understanding of what each coin's value proposition
is and how you would interact with it and the
whole experience around that. You need to understand is this

(06:25):
a like a layer one coin, is this a mean coins?
Has it got a use case? Are there any red
flags you should be looking at for and everything in between.
So we built the OLI education platform to be a
hub that you can go to to start getting all
this foundation knowledge.

Speaker 3 (06:41):
So it doesn't matter which coin.

Speaker 2 (06:43):
You're looking at, you can come at it with a
like a strong education standpoint to know like, Okay, this
is a mean coin. So maybe this is going to
be highly volatile. It could have massive upswings, massive downcings.
But now I'm looking at bitcoin, what's it got for security, decentralization,
stor you what's happening with global adoption?

Speaker 3 (07:02):
All of these sorts of things.

Speaker 2 (07:04):
Because every coin has a place in the ecosystem, no
matter how big that place is, you just need to
understand it. And we don't want people to have to
do everything that like the you that me that everyone
else was doing going through the rabbit holes, clicking the
dodgy links investing in the terrible investment because we didn't
know any better.

Speaker 3 (07:24):
There's no one to tell us back then.

Speaker 2 (07:26):
If you're lucky enough to be an og that's been
here since two thousand and eight, you probably had a
decent understanding. But if you were coming in during a
ball run, like I had so many friends like twenty
twenty one, Nate, what's bitcoin?

Speaker 3 (07:36):
How do I get one? Like? Do I have to
actually hold them? What is that? What is it? What's
a wallet? What's a seed phrase?

Speaker 2 (07:42):
I was like, well, you know what, we need a
nice centralized centralized the terrible words use. We need a
central place with decentralized education for people to come have
the trust, have the security that they can get in
and start learning about all of these things and you
don't have to go through a rabbit hole of twenty
dodge you links and hope that you don't lose all
of your personal information and whatever's in your bank account.

Speaker 1 (08:05):
I really feel like the education should be the first
step for anyone that's coming into the crypto space, because
as soon as you start getting off in exchange and
trading tokens on a particular blockchain l one, you get
wallet hacks, you get scams appearing, you get all these
different things that you wouldn't experience on a centralized exchange.

(08:27):
But you have a lot of benefits in the decentralized
space are going on change, but you really got to
get through that first stage of being safe, secure and
really understanding what you're getting into. But yeah, having a
central place where users can go and learn about all
these things is I think really really important. And I
really like your approach here.

Speaker 3 (08:46):
Thank you. And a lot of people like education is
not sexy.

Speaker 1 (08:50):
Yeah it's not.

Speaker 3 (08:52):
I get that it's not.

Speaker 2 (08:53):
But you tell me one thing that you can get
better at without being better educated. There's nothing like if
you want to get better kicking a footy, you have
to go figure out how to kick a footy better,
which is education. If you want to get better at trading,
you're not just going to keep throwing money at the
wall and hope something sticks. You're going to go and
find some advanced traders, look at their patterns, look at
their analysis, how they're studying, and what they're trying to

(09:15):
interpret in order to help yourself progress. So if no
one's doing education and then no one's doing it well,
like on a holistic standpoint, then how are we going
to expect people to come in for mass adoption If
we're trying to talk about going from what are we
in the We want to try and get billions of people, right,
We're not just talking about millions, We're not talking about thousands.
We want billions of people using Web three. And they

(09:37):
don't need to understand all the nitty gritty of coding
and things like that, because they may never use that,
but they do need to understand some of the basics,
like what's a wallet, what's a seed phrase. Eventually, with
our developments with a lot of these things like the UY,
the UX is going to get to a point where
people don't know that they're even interacting with blockchain, which
is sensational, but that doesn't mean that people don't want

(09:58):
to know. So there's always going to be some that
people need to learn. Whether it's if a lot of
that stuff's happening behind the scenes, amazing, but they still
need to know what's it, like, what are the safety measures,
what are the security measures, what all of this sort
of stuff so they can have a successful time while
they're here.

Speaker 1 (10:13):
Yeah, the more you know, the better off. You are,
and there's a lot of platforms that have smoke and mirrors,
and if you understand what's going on here, you're better
off making decisions because you have a better understanding. So
education is definitely key. Now, you mentioned a little bit
earlier that the platform is growing phenomenally ninety thousand users. Okay,

(10:33):
that's a big number, so it's growing well. But I
also noticed that you guys have communities from all around
the world. You have a lot in African Nigeria, Kenya,
and even the United States. What has the approach been
for these different communities around the world, Because I'm assuming
here that education is different in different parts of the
world and people are learning different things as well, So

(10:56):
what's the approach here with different communities.

Speaker 2 (10:58):
Yeah, so this is our success in terms of onboarding
numbers has been all thanks to our ambassador network. I
can't pretend sitting in Australia that I know the first
thing about like I know some of them and not
all of how to interact with education in Kenya, in
the US, in the UK, and Pakistan, in Argentina wherever
it might be. So what we do is we've got

(11:19):
our ambassador networks set up around the globe.

Speaker 3 (11:22):
They're not just walking around handing out high fives and stickers.

Speaker 2 (11:24):
They're literally going into schools, going into universities, hosting local
events to educate about blockchain and web three and oli like.
The education platform is the mechanism to support them doing that.
So it just ties it all together in a nice
holistic way. So we started out in Africa and we
wanted to get into places where we can have the

(11:45):
most substantial social impact from an education standpoint, and without
learn to earn mechanisms and things like that, in developing nations,
they can have the biggest impact.

Speaker 3 (11:55):
Okay, So that was a big part of that.

Speaker 2 (11:57):
Also aligning with Karano's values banking, the unbanged and everything
else that we all came to Kardano for. We thought
it was fantastic opportunity to get into Africa, I start
making a difference with education, get people into blockchain, get
people into Karana. Yeah, some of the conversations that I
had across Singapore and Japan, very very nice conversations with
the Lace team. So the ninety thousand students, it's too

(12:19):
early to save, but you can imagine something that might
be happening in that space. And I've been chatting a
lot with ban a hero from Block Frost and from
Consensus doing all the work with you again and refugees.
We've got a very exciting announcement that I can't drop today.
But we were in a bar in Japan and we
tested something out and it worked, and we're all like, yeah,

(12:43):
let's go all right to the point like everyone's sort
of sitting around having quiet chats, so we're jumping up
and down.

Speaker 3 (12:49):
So something very exciting coming on that front as well.

Speaker 1 (12:51):
All right, brilliant. Okay, that's super exciting to hear, and
I can't wait to actually find out what that all
is as well. But were there any other highlights from
that Asian tree because I know you went to Token
twenty forty nine in Singapore and then over to Tokyo afterwards.
Are there any other highlights that you can mention from
the events itself, not just withther what you guys have

(13:12):
formed in terms of partnerships.

Speaker 3 (13:13):
The whole experience was a highlight.

Speaker 2 (13:15):
I've been almost on a bit of a come down
from like two weeks of just having amazing, like almost
speed dating NonStop for two weeks, got like I sort
of sat by myself because my wife was at work
and my kid was.

Speaker 3 (13:27):
At day care, and I was like, what am I doing?

Speaker 1 (13:31):
What do you do now?

Speaker 2 (13:33):
It was just such a like a shock to the
system to be in that environment and then out of
it so quickly. But the whole Singapore experience was absolutely wild,
like getting to network with people from all parts of
the ecosystem, not just kut On, going to like founder
and investor events Santo's Island in some like five star
place that just a dude was hoping like, hey, if

(13:54):
you're a founder or an investor, come in, like will
network Going to Token twenty forty nine, think it was
twenty five plus people running around listen to all these
different pit like what people are doing in their different ecosystems.
But then going upstairs to the main stage and seeing
where Kardano had established its president. I've been hearing for
the last like three or four years, but Karana never
has a presence. Canana never has a presence. But I

(14:16):
hadn't been so I couldn't comment. I went upstairs and
there's this massive krandano iog booth that had the hydro
vending machine. Those guys are absolute legends. I'll talk about
that in a sec. Then there was another like so
that was like in the red and black of input output.
Then you had the Kardano booth set up that had
snack and you had people like Dan from Palmyra doing talks,

(14:39):
Patrick Tobler doing talks. You look across there was another
big booth that was set up in all the midnight colors.
That little corner of the room was just absolutely buzzing
and it was Kardana. It was all the Kardano people.
Everyone that is like you're hearing Twitter spaces you see
on YouTube. I was just like, I feel like I
was in a movie. Half the time, you had Charles

(15:00):
the Lily is the catching up with JJ, the guys
from the education team diving a bit deeper into midnight,
helping to solidify my understanding. And yeah, the hydro vending
Machine guys had this awesome little NFC ship game where
you were like running around you had to interact with
the vendors, understand their project or what they're doing within
the ecosystem, scanned to get points and then you could

(15:21):
go and get an awesome prize and it was all
powered by hydra. So you've got these points and Waller
and then I just got caught up in that.

Speaker 3 (15:29):
That was so much fun.

Speaker 1 (15:31):
I saw the videos of that. It looked really really cool.
I think Lily got a like one of those steady
cam things get for a video camera. So I wanted
one of those vending machines, and I'm going to talk
to the guys and see if we can get one
here in Australia, but music for other methods. It looked
like an amazing event and I am deeply jealous. Adn't
get to go.

Speaker 3 (15:51):
I haven't even got to Japan yet.

Speaker 2 (15:52):
Like, we went to Osaka and the Japanese community is incredible.
I was fortunate enough to be at the Constitution Convention
Argentina last year, and there was a like I guess
a gap there of the language barrier and where we
had a lot of people from all over the world,
but it was pretty much mostly heard in English.

Speaker 3 (16:11):
At the event in.

Speaker 2 (16:12):
Osaka, everyone had ear pieces in so if someone was
speaking Japanese, there was a translator up that was speaking
in English so you can understand what they were saying,
and vice versa. So when I was speaking, it was
being translated directed into Japanese. For the rest of the community.

Speaker 1 (16:25):
That's amazing.

Speaker 2 (16:26):
Yeah, so I'm like, Utah, I'm going to say his name, right,
I think Karana Miyasaki, I'm the founder of the Japan
Karano community. Like everyone was there speaking their language, sharing
their passion, talking governance. Then we got up to Tokyo
and it just kept going and then Yeah, it was
a phenomenal trip. Shout out to Sarah and the guys
from Sosius for the technic impact some that was incredible. Yeah,

(16:49):
just I could speak for a couple of hours and
I know I don't want to, I don't want around.

Speaker 1 (16:53):
Yeah, I gotta make sure it's on my cards next year.
I'll make sure it happened all right. Back to Oli,
We're a little bit sidetracked there, but that's something that
I think anyone that is a founder and building a
Candano should really take advantage of getting to these particular
that's getting in front of people and networking. It's a really,
really key important thing. And I have to say Kadana Foundation,

(17:14):
input outputs, the whole intersect side of things really did
step things up this year because there were complaints that
there isn't much reach out into the Asia region. Many
of these big events they are definitely doing a bigger
push this year, so I have to compliment them on that. Yeah,
But back to OLI. Back to OLI here. You mentioned
a little bit earlier about the incentives on the platform,

(17:36):
and I just want to make this really clear for people.
Can you explain the incentive platform to Learn to Earn
how it works for people that are coming in to
learn the platform and also creators and educators on the platform.

Speaker 3 (17:47):
Yeah, definitely.

Speaker 2 (17:48):
So we've got a three pronged incentive process there. So
we've got learned to Earn for any student of any age.
People a think student and school kid, but student is
just someone coming to learn.

Speaker 3 (17:58):
So anyone coming to learn on the.

Speaker 2 (18:00):
Platform, they'll have a wallet created for them in the
background and we turn that on.

Speaker 3 (18:04):
So hence one of the partnerships that we're working on.

Speaker 2 (18:06):
At the moment, you earn XP on the platform for
every lesson that you complete, that XP has converted a
ratio into OLI tookens. So when our token goes live,
which we're hoping for the end of November, everyone that's
learning on the platform will be able to convert from
XPN to OLI. For content creators, we have a similar mechanism,
so when you come onto the platform, you apply to
be a content creator. As a vetting process, we go

(18:28):
through that. Once you're good to go, you can start
posting lessons for your first few lessons. Again, the still
a vetting process will be manually going through those to
ensure that they're safe, they're informative, that they're accurate, and
then after that we can give people a verified tick
and they're good to go sharing their content. So they
are twelve thousand experience points for sharing a lesson again

(18:49):
converted into oli tookens that they're choosing. And then there's
also a refer to earn mechanism, so when you bring
your friends on, you earn experience points as well. So
we've built this whole advanced tokenomic structure to ensure or
that we don't suffer from some of the things that
happened to some of the plate to Earn organizations in
the past, where they overinflated their supply and had a

(19:09):
very negative impact on their token overall. So for that
we've got the XP and a ratio lever that we
can adjust to ensure that we're not just pumping out
tokens that we have no control over.

Speaker 3 (19:21):
We can give xp.

Speaker 2 (19:22):
If we blow up to five million users tomorrow, we
can adjust the race shot how fast the tokens are
being distributed. Obviously, with five million people learning it, and
we're going to get a supply shop, which is going
to have another impact on the price.

Speaker 3 (19:33):
Because people are going to want to get involved with that.

Speaker 2 (19:35):
And then from a token standpoint, you can use that
for discounted subscriptions to the AI tutor, and when there's
more paid content on the platform, you can use discounted
access to that. I'm discounted subscriptions for the education platform,
and there's a whole bunch of other things that we're
going to be putting into place for that token to
have its use case. And I'm just trying to think
with use I've missed there. Because the adam Oo we've

(19:57):
got one hundred and seventy three lessons. We do have
the opportunity for creators to share their content with a
price tag. So you might come in, you've spent the
last five or ten years learning about a topic. You
want to charge people fifty bucks to do that lesson.
You can totally do that. But if people pay for
that and oli tokens, they're going to get a discount.

Speaker 1 (20:15):
All right, awesome, Okay, there's lots there for anyone to
earn from the platform, so that's really good. So thank
you for sharing and explain all those particular aspects. Now,
I'd like to wrap this interview up with a couple
of things. First off, I know you guys are going
to the Cadano Summit in November mid November. It's about
a month's time from the time of recording this video.

(20:37):
And I know you guys are also up for one
of the awards for the education category, so congratulations on that.
Good luck. So if anyone wants to support the platform,
you can vote for them in the Candana Summit awards
as well. Put links down below. Hopefully it's not too
late by the time this video goes out, so you
can vote for that and support the platform. Final thought,

(21:00):
where's the future of education going for the blockchain space?
Where do you see your platform going? And also what
needs to be done to onboard the next billion users?

Speaker 2 (21:12):
Yeah, and that's a huge question that again we could
talk on for hours. I do want to say I'm
super excited for the Kardano summer, but being nominated for
an award is an incredible honor, and we've also been
nominated for Battle of the Builders. So out of six
thousand or whatever there is projects building on Oli, building
on Kardana, and we've been nominated as one of only

(21:32):
ten to get on stage at the Cardano Summer to
show off what we're doing and to let everyone know.
So very excited to be a Battle of the Builders,
So thank you to the Kardano Foundation team for that.
From an OLI standpoint, from an education standpoint, we're going
to keep growing.

Speaker 3 (21:47):
We're going to keep getting bigger.

Speaker 2 (21:48):
We're going to have hubs and ambassador in every single
country that we can. As we just keep growing, we
keep expanding, we keep on boarding more people. Every single
person that we on board isn't just coming in to OLI.
I have to stress that when we turn on, every
single one of these people get to Karano Wallet, so
instantaneously we're going to have ninety thousand new people spread
across the world coming into the Karano ecosystem, interacting with

(22:12):
our mechanisms, but also being trained on things like MENSWAP,
things like whatever. The different wallet solutions are a JPEG store,
all of these things, so they're ready to go in
our ecosystem. We just need to keep pushing this, growing,
this expanding and having even more content come to the platform.
So if you're sitting there in the audience now listening
and you think you know what, I've actually been a

(22:33):
part of the Kardano ecosystem or even to the general
blockchain ecosystem for the last four or five years, even
the last year, and you want to share your knowledge,
bring it to the platform.

Speaker 3 (22:42):
We'll reward you for it. We'll reward everyone for learning
about it, and that way we keep growing and expanding.

Speaker 2 (22:47):
How much information is there for these new people that
are coming in and we're getting them fully integrated into
the Karlana ecosystem straight away, Within the next i want
to say fortnite, I'm hoping stucture probably kicked me off
the butt, but within the next fortnight, the AI tutor
subscriptions is going to go live. So every single one
of these people coming in to learn on the platform

(23:08):
is going to be able to have that tutor sitting
there working with them, talking with them, helping them their
whole way through that initial journey as they get started
setting up everything that they need to to be interacting
in the space. Education is going to become sexy because
everyone's going to realize how important it is. And I
don't even just mean like Cameron Diaz a bad teacher,

(23:29):
like the good old days and make education sexy.

Speaker 3 (23:33):
It's going to be so prevalent. We like project every
corner of the space.

Speaker 2 (23:36):
It's going to be like, hey, where can we go
to get access to put our name in front of
a whole bunch of people that a come in to
learn about Web three And that's going to be Ollie.

Speaker 3 (23:45):
By the end of the year, we're going to have over.

Speaker 2 (23:46):
One hundred thousand users, and by the end of next
year we plan to have over five hundred thousand. Tell
me anywhere that you can go to find five hundred
thousand new people coming into Web three that need to
have a wallet, that need to have a deck, that
need to have a token, that need to have a family,
need to have a community, all of that within web three.
Where are you going to be able to find that?

Speaker 3 (24:04):
That's right? Yeah. Insights on the Olive platform.

Speaker 1 (24:08):

you and learning more about the platform what's going on.

the show notes for you guys, you can find out

wallet content over to the platform. An opportunity there. Awesome, Nate,
