DEUTSCH:

ENGLISH:
Vera Rubin wanted to work at the famous Palomar Observatory in 1965. But the rules there were clear: women were not allowed to observe. The only excuse was a toilet: there was just one with the sign 'Men'. Rubin did not give up. Using her typewriter, she changed the form—she added 'usually'. That’s how she became the first woman officially invited to observe at Palomar. On her first night, she noticed the old sign on the bathroom door. Because it only said 'Men', she drew a small skirted figure and stuck it next to the sign. Soon the observatory had a bathroom for everyone. With this, Rubin made a small but important change. Rubin also showed courage in research. She found evidence that stars at the edge of galaxies move just as fast as those in the center. This was a clue to the mysterious dark matter. Rubin's story shows that courage and perseverance can overcome big barriers. Believing in yourself and not giving up can achieve a lot.
