The magician's secret, should you tell. The answer is no, never,
not if you want to be considereda true magician. It's part of the
magician's code to never tell your secretsto your audience. Being a magician means
cloaking yourself in mystery. Secrecy tohow your little miracles are performed is paramount.
Think about the first time you sawa magician in action. You were

probably busting to know how he pulledthat rabbit out of the hat, or
how he saw it as assistant inhalf then put her back together. If
you knew the secret all these wonderfulacts, would you have come back for
more? Would you have wanted tobecome a magician yourself? The answer is
probably no. If you tell youraudience how a trick was done, not
only do you destroy the mystery foryourself, you destroy it for all other

magicians who performed that trick or similarones. So no matter how many times
your audience asks you to reveal yoursecret, don't tell them. They will
persist, but you have to bestrong. Remember, a good magician never
reveals his secrets. It's also importantnever to do the same trick more than
once for your audience. Performing itover and over again will give them the

opportunity to see how you do itor find you out. The surprise of
the first time you perform the trickis gone. Once you repeat it,
they may be able to work outyour secret, and you don't want that.
All the fun is gone. Oncethe mystery has disappeared, your audience
may feel a little stupid for havingbeen fooled so easily by such a simple
trick. Once the wonder has gone, they may not be so keen to

be fooled again by your next trick. There is one exception for you.
You're allowed to tell the secret ofyour magic tricks, and that is if
you are teaching someone a trick thatis interested in becoming a magician. Otherwise,
how else what other would be magicianslearn the trade. You may want
to only tell the learner the secretsof some well known tricks, not share

your own specially developed trick, andthat's okay. If they are really keen,
they will learn the simple ones thencome back for more. Remember,
you had to learn the trick andpractice it so you could call yourself a
magician. Other aspiring magicians must dothe same thing. A true magician never
tells his secrets, and if you'reserious about becoming a magician, you should
take the magician's Oath, which goessomething like this. As a magician,

I promised to never reveal the secretof any allusion to a non magician without
first swearing them to the Magician's Oath. I promise never to perform any illusion
for any non magician without first practicingthe effect until I can perform it well
enough to maintain the illusion of magic.
