Speaker 1 (00:01):
Learn UK English but podcast. Hello Rachel, Hi Neil. How
are you doing?
Speaker 2 (00:16):
I'm doing well and.
Speaker 1 (00:17):
You I'm doing great. Are you excited about today's podcast?
Speaker 2 (00:22):
I sure am? What about you? Are you feeling excited?
Speaker 1 (00:26):
Super excited? Right here?
Speaker 2 (00:29):
That's great?
Speaker 1 (00:32):
So today we're going to talk about feelings.
Speaker 2 (00:36):
That's right.
Speaker 1 (00:38):
And before we start, I'd like you to go over
today's vocabulary for feelings.
Speaker 2 (00:43):
Okay, here we go. Feelings proud, happy, angry, interested, calm, nervous, embarrassed, satisfied, hungry, thirsty, frustrated, bored, ill, worried, lonely, confused, scared, frightened, excited, sad, surprised, tired,
(01:22):
comfortable and uncomfortable.
Speaker 1 (01:26):
Very good, Rachel, Now finish this sentence for me.
Speaker 2 (01:31):
You are a happy person.
Speaker 1 (01:34):
Very nice? And why is that? Well?
Speaker 2 (01:37):
I always try to stay positive, you know. I think
being cheerful is an important part of life. There's always
something good we can offer to others.
Speaker 1 (01:45):
That's wonderful. I'm glad to hear you're happy.
Speaker 2 (01:49):
Thank you?
Speaker 1 (01:51):
And what makes you feel happy?
Speaker 2 (01:53):
Seeing the people I care about being happy makes me happy.
Speaker 1 (01:56):
Too, ah, I see? And what makes you feel sad
or angry?
Speaker 2 (02:03):
Well? What makes me feel sad is when people get
disappointed in me, and I get angry when I argue
with the people I care about.
Speaker 1 (02:10):
But tell me, how do people get disappointed in you?
Speaker 2 (02:13):
Well, we always expect things from others, don't we, So
sometimes people expect too much and end up disappointed, which
makes me sad.
Speaker 1 (02:22):
Ah interesting perspective.
Speaker 2 (02:24):
Neil, When do you feel most energized?
Speaker 1 (02:27):
When do I feel most energized? Usually, Rachel, my energy
comes from making progress. When I feel like I'm achieving something,
That's when I feel energized.
Speaker 2 (02:39):
Yes, that makes sense. That's great, and you well, for me,
it's simpler. I feel energized when I wake up in
a good mood.
Speaker 1 (02:49):
Fair enough. Do rude people annoy you? Oh?
Speaker 2 (02:53):
Yes absolutely?
Speaker 1 (02:55):
Why is that?
Speaker 2 (02:56):
Because I always try to be kind and friendly to people,
and when someone treats me rudely, it really bothers me.
What about you, Neil?
Speaker 1 (03:05):
Rude people sometimes annoy me, and sometimes they don't. If
it's something I can easily avoid, like if I'm in
a shop and get bad service, I can just go
to another shop, So I choose whether to get annoyed
or not right, But if it's something only that person
(03:27):
can help with then yes, it does get frustrating.
Speaker 2 (03:32):
I see, that makes sense.
Speaker 1 (03:34):
Nowadays social media brings both good and bad, especially when
you post something or see someone else post and then
there's a string of comments. Do you feel embarrassed when
someone leaves a negative comment?
Speaker 2 (03:50):
Most of the time, I don't because, like I said earlier,
I try to stay positive and cheerful. Negative comments don't
get to me that easily.
Speaker 1 (04:00):
Do you feel bad when you have to say no
to someone who asks for help?
Speaker 2 (04:06):
Not usually Neil. That's an interesting question because if I
say no, it's because I genuinely can't help. What bores
you the most?
Speaker 1 (04:16):
What bores me the most? A lot of times, it's
not knowing what to do in a certain situation, especially
when I feel undecided about what to do with my day. Ah,
I see, sometimes I have too many things to do
and I end up feeling stuck. That's when I get bored.
(04:39):
I have to break away, do something different, then come
back to it.
Speaker 2 (04:43):
What about you, I get bored when I have absolutely
nothing to do.
Speaker 1 (04:49):
Well, you could make a checklist. Did I wash the dishes?
Did I fold the laundry? Checklist?
Speaker 2 (04:57):
Yeah? Do you prefer being alone or always being around people.
Speaker 1 (05:02):
Well, sometimes I enjoy being alone and sometimes I prefer
being around others. It depends on the moment. I like
being alone when I need to focus, But most of
the time I enjoy being with people because it's fun
to chat and hang out.
Speaker 2 (05:21):
Exactly, I agree, and you same here. It really depends
on the situation.
Speaker 1 (05:28):
Very good, Rachel. Well, we're nearing the end of today's podcast.
Speaker 2 (05:34):
Ah, what a shame, it's almost over. I love today's episode.
