(00:02):
You're listening to Legends Library. Nowhere's your host. He's a mountaineer and
Kyle Rawlins. Hi everybody, I'mLisa and you're listening to Legends Library.

(00:24):
We are a podcast dedicated to theLegends line of the Star Wars universe,
and we have a guest with ustoday. It's a bit of a different
episode, so I would like everyoneto welcome Catherine. She's the executive director
of the Legends Consortium. So thankyou for being here. Catherine. Hey,
yeah, thanks for having me.So could you just you know,

(00:46):
tell us a little bit about theconsortium before we get really into it and
like where you started from. Yeah, so this started from a group of
people who came together. We realizedthat we had a good amount of event
playing experience between us, and weall really loved Legends and we were looking
for a place to gather and celebratethat. The fandom itself is kind of

(01:10):
decreased a bit over the years. You know, it's harder to go to
a convention and find other people doingLegends costumes or find artists who have Legends
art available, and we wanted tojust bring everything together in one place to
really celebrate the fandom. Yeah, that's awesome. Yeah, so listeners,
you may have remembered that I've mentionedyou know, this con before. Originally

(01:34):
we had a kind of a differentgroup, but then we involved something much
better and stronger, and we've mentionedthis together before that We've got like this
really amazing strong team that I'm justso happy to be proud of, and
like both Kyle and I are onboard with this and like just to have
a Legends con just all legends. It's the dream, you know. So
we're finally living the dream and I'mreally excited for it to happen. And

(01:57):
Catherine, like being I do isreally fantastic because Catherine, everyone has actually
experienced in space, so he couldgo a little bit about that and just
like prove how cool you are, because like, yeah, none of us
have done any space work. Somy day job is I'm a planetary scientist.
I am a Mars geologist. I'vespent the past five years doing camera

(02:21):
operations for both the Curiosity and PerseveranceMars rovers, So I take lots of
lots of pictures of Mars. Ilisten to the scientists every day about what
they're interested in and what's currently infront of the rover and help make science
happen in space. Tell us abouta moment where like it just totally wowed
you that you were in space.Oh man, I mean that's every moment,

(02:45):
you know, you you open upyour browser, you know, you
log into work and the first thingyou see is this new vista from Mars
that you know, depending on howearly you're logging in that day, maybe
five or so other people have seenbefore. Um, and yeah, every

(03:05):
day is a brand new day.The perseverance fission has been especially exciting.
We're working our way up a riverdelta on Mars, so and it's you
know, it's it's just so perfectlypreserved because everything is dry there and there
hasn't been a lot of geological activityyet that than just wind driven erosion.
So we can just roll our wayup this delta and get a perfect stratigraphic

(03:30):
history. That's so cool. Yeah, I love it. I imagine.
Wow, I'm like I've just gotlost in space for a second there for
your description. So cool? Ah, where else are you gonna? Like?
Is there any other kind of plantsyou guys are looking at eventually or

(03:50):
is it mostly my particular expertise Iguess um is Mars. There's a really
exciting mission coming up, the EuropaClipper, which will be flying past Europa
and going into orbit around Europa isa moon of Jupiter, Yes, moon
of Jupiter, um, that hasa lot of water. And then it's

(04:13):
also very close to Io, whichis another moon, and Io is the
most volcanically active body in the entireSolar system as far as we know,
and so it is spewing all ofthis stuff onto Europa, which is really
tasty for bacteria and microbes potentially.Um. So Europe is probably our best
chance of having you know, lifeoff of Earth currently within our solar system.

(04:36):
So you know, yeah, youhave water on the moon, Jupiter
is providing enough radiation to create heat, and then Io is spewing all of
these nutrients on top of that,so perfect storm. Um. I just
like looking at like planetary words. You know, it's namesick as well,

(04:57):
Like Europa and Io were both loversof Zeus. You know who's Jupiter,
So like that's why we kind ofget all these names. That's why I'm
like, I know that one bloodyes, yes, poor woman, yeah,
I um, I think I don'tremember if it was Harra or the
Greek name. That's totally escaping meright now. But they named one of

(05:19):
the Jupiter probes that, oh doyou know, yes, yeah, do
you know? Yeah, that oneof the Jupiter probes is named Juno.
And I get a kick out ofthat because it's just circling Jupiter being like,
what are you doing? What areyou doing? Huh? I mean,
come on. Zeus was a dirtyrascal and why don't keep his pants

(05:40):
up? He turned into the bawds, he turned into like live stock,
whatever, it didn't matter, thewoman whatever, a rain of gold at
one point. Yeah, he dida golden shower on a woman, got
a pet. I had my PercyJackson face. Yeah, what's what's cool
about? You know? Greek mythologyplays a lot into Star Wars. Um.
I don't know if you're familiar withlike the Legacy series, but they

(06:04):
kind of like and like Luke andeverything to like Heracles and yeah, or
like Legacy of the Forest where it'slike book Skywalker and Jason and yeah,
so um and it's kind of likeJason is like Jason of the Argonauts and
you know, but we're going offtalking. Sorry, is what happens when

(06:26):
you start talking Greek mythology and starWars like I was like, let's do
it. Um. Yes, that'sa different episode exactly. Oh, you
usually come on an episode for that. We'll do all Greek all star Wars.
Yes, yes, Um. Buttoday we are here for a bit
of a different reason. So listeners, now that we're bringing this convention,
you know, we're actually we gotit booked, we have a venue,

(06:49):
um, and we're here to talkabout it today. And we're also kind
of leading to us listeners to givesome donations to help us get this going.
We have people interested, we havesome authors and Katherine will go into
that in a little while, andyou know I'm excited for them, but
again, we need some help.So this is us asking you today to

(07:11):
support us everything that. If you'reto donate to the campaign that we're going
to be talking about at the end, I'm going to offer the opportunity if
you donate to send me an emailLegends Library Podcast at gmail dot com and
I'll put an extra entry into theheart of the Jedi book that I'm going
to be giving away, so you'llget an extra run into that contest.

(07:33):
For that and some other things,we'll talk about it at the end.
But yeah, Catherine, So Katherinehas an amazing presentation because she has ever
prepared. Yes, all right,so Legends con all right, So if

(07:53):
you haven't already heard, we arecoming to a galaxy near you. If
near you is Perpect, California,U September ninth and tenth, twenty twenty
three. We've booked the Marriott ConventionCenter, which is a great venue.
And yeah, I'm just I'm reallyexcited this is finally coming together. M

(08:16):
So about me, my name isKatherine. Hello. I come through this
through more of a cosplay background.I am currently on the Revolution of Command
Council and I'm the local director formy vocal Saber Killed Temple, and I
also remember of the fellow First Legionand Dark Empire. I've been doing these

(08:37):
clubs for eleven years now and I'vebeen involved in leadership for many of those
years. Um So, I'm veryfamiliar with working with Lucasfilm and Like as
a fan and playing nice with themfor their policies for fan events. Um
I, it's yeah, i I'vejust I have a lot of experience in

(09:01):
that area, so I can helpus do this in a manner that does
not get us a season desist.H Yeah, and my favorite costume for
those of you who are joining uson YouTube is mar Shade, which you
can see here, and I loveher so much. What got you into
cosplaying Queen? I always did likeextravagant Halloween costumes with the help of my

(09:26):
parents, my mom, so's sowhen I was little, Like my Halloween
costumes were a Protoceratops or a dragonand crazy things like that. Yeah.
Um, it's so funny because likeI, yes, I pulled up those
Protosteratops pictures like a while ago,and my whole family was just like,

(09:48):
man, like, we remember thatlooking like a lot better than it looked
like. We look back on itand we're just like, oh, like
I thought it was way cooler thanthat. But I was like eight,
so you know. Um, butyeah, and then how I found the
like major Star Wars costume clubs inparticular, is uh my cousin, well

(10:09):
second cousin once removed or something likethat. We're related, Um, she
she's a member of the Pile first. So I found about about these clubs
when I was like sixteen or soand waited somewhat patiently two years to turn
eighteen to be able to join UMand yeah, I started off with the
generic Jedi and just have not lookedback since then. That's so cool.

(10:33):
Thanks to your cousin you got intoit. Yes, I don't know,
actually, I mean other than justbeing a nerd. Um. Yeah,
I'm not entirely sure how she foundit. But I mean the clubs have
been around for twenty years ish atthis point, so yeah. UM.
But within these clubs, UM,I have done some cool events. I

(10:56):
we during the height of the pandemic, we really wanted to do something thing
to help out. Because these clubsare all charity based. For those who
aren't familiar with them, we doa lot of work with organizations like like
Wish Shoon's Hospital and you know everythingfrom that set of things to like local
schools, libraries, etc. Andat conventions we usually raise a lot of
money for some local charity. Andwhen we were at the height of COVID,

(11:20):
our members really wanted to do somethingto help but our way of you
know, making money conventions was nothappening. Um. And so the person
in charge of the repe legion,Bill Holmes, UM, he was like,
well, let's do like you know, a good old fashioned telethon but
like online U and everyone was like, what are you talking about, Bill?

(11:41):
But it's actually it's it's a coolidea that he came up with if
we had a webathon, UM,And the first one I was not involved
with, but then the three afterthat I was the director of. Because
that's just the story of my life. Yeah. I was like Catherine,
Yeah, she's doing it. Yeahyeah, like I said, too bad.

(12:05):
Yeah, that's that's basically what happenedas we like, as our group
evolved. It was just sort oflike oh yeah, you know, like
I went from like yeah, I'llhelp out, you know, like I'll
help you guys make contact with Lucasmablah blah blah, and it's like,
oh and now I'm in charge.I did not want this, but that's
okay. UM, I'm happy todo it because I want this to happen.
UM. But anyways, I umdirected three webathon events to Rebel Reads

(12:28):
and one Rebel thon over forty eighthours of video streaming content. Mostly that
was made up of interviews with variousStar Wars professionals, including lots of authors
and artists and other you know, expanding universe types UM, which was so
much fun and got me the opportunityto do awesome things like interview Matthew Stober,
which was a dream come true andhe's amazing. UM. That was

(12:54):
so much fun. Uh and itwas so good good And we also raised
well over twenty five thousand dollars forUNISF and Save the Children for their like
critical aid projects during the pandemic. For UNISEF it was mostly their vaccine efforts,
and for Save the Children it wasfor helping kids get ahold of like

(13:20):
laptops for virtual learning when that wasa thing, because you know, if
you don't have that access, there'sa problem. So they were super fun
events and brought us, you know, a lot of I was working with
lucaswom fan relations throughout all of that, got to know some people there pretty
well and just generally how to runan event in their good graces. So

(13:45):
yeah, bringing that experience and thenthe actual convention experience I have. When
I was a senior in college,I ran a queer comics convention at my
university. It was for fun UM. We had about two tes and over
twenty artists and writers from throughout theUS in Canada. UM and for those

(14:11):
of you who are joining us fromYouTube on this. This is a picture
of my Faris all in costume becausehe is my favorite gay Jedi boy.
Um. I completely rushed this costumeto get it done in time for celebrations,
so there are so many things wrongwith it that I need to fix.
But I love Ferris UM. Soyes, yeah, yeah, um

(14:33):
but yeah this this will be thesecond time that I've founded at a convention.
UM and the first time went offreally well. Um the convention still
goes on today, like five orsix years later. Gosh, how long
have I been graduated from college?Yeah? Um? And yeah, like
I just I like. The bestcompliment that I received from that was one

(14:54):
of the professional artists told me thatit was better organized than a lot of
the second and third year professional conventionsthat she went to. UM, and
I really hope to bring that energyinto Legends con as well, where you
wouldn't know that it was done byvolunteers, and you wouldn't know that it
was a first year convention because everythingis just going to reno. It's like

(15:15):
yeah, yeah um. So thenthe rest of the team, Lisa,
I will let you take that away. Yeah. So here's our team.
Guys, there's a couple of peoplewho don't have their photos in here,
Kyle Michael, who currently has influenza, poor boy. Um. But so

(15:35):
we have Patrick here in the jeanjacket. He's also an editor of Supernatural
Encounters. Crinthia she's the bottom photo. She does this fifth Internal Empire forum
on start work on Facebook and theforums chapters. I don't know. I
don't know that website, but we'llpost all the links. And then another
Katherine, she is part of CultureSlate, and then Catherine in the middle

(16:00):
sport Risa. She is known forher nice of Old Republic YouTube channel,
So guys, if you want tocheck her out if you're into gaming,
use the one to follow. She'samazing. Yeah, and we got punch
of Chewy. So these are ourdesigners or the fabulous logo that we have
and the artwork of Mara. Well, actually it's not Mara. It's a
Cause player. Yes, so youcan't technically have Star Wars characters, yes,

(16:25):
but that's that's part of part ofour agree with lucasfilm is that it
is Cause players and not the charactersin costume. So yes, it's it's
based off of me and my friendAustin in his reven so yes. And
then there's a photo of me inmy casual motorcycle attire. Uh, mostly
because I didn't know what photo tosend you, like I have either it's

(16:47):
like me with cats or fashion photos. I don't know. I mean cats
are good. Yeah. We discoveredlike among our leadership group, like there's
a bunch of cat lovers here,so we all basically own cats. Yes,
thank yeah. But Patrick likes cats. Yeah my cat, my cat
approved of Patrick, so that meanshe's good. Yeah. Good. Yeah.

(17:08):
And then Kyle, like I said, his photo is not here,
but who is a member of LegendsLibrary and then also an editor Supernatural Cats,
which, by the way, guys, he finished yesterday. They finally
finished the edit yesterday, which haskilled him. Oh you told me today,
He's like, hey, guys, today is December Thursday. He had

(17:32):
twenty nine oh god, twenty ninth. Uh. He's like, I haven't
eaten since Monday? Like why becauseyou're editing? Like why what do you?
Like? I'm like, please justorder some takeout, like yeah,
a pub whatever, so yeah, sor I'm picking up some weird like scratching
sounds. I'm looking forward to Kylelike rejoining the lipping. Yeah me too.

(17:59):
Yeah, I've than seeing him,so it would be good to see
him again. Yeah. Also inmy photo you can see a little ble
bit of baby Yod right there, which is who I like to bring along
on my motorcycle trip. Amazing.Yeah. So, and then there's a
couple other members you're you're saying, potentially Bill Holmes might be joining. Yes,
yeah, Bill, Bill will beinvolved. Bill just you know,

(18:22):
has ten irons in the fire asusual. Um. For those of you
who don't know him, he wasthe alleging banning officer of Rebel Legion for
like ten years. Um. Hehas even more contacts within Lucasfilm and experience
running conventions than I do. Um. He's a huge fan of legends.
Um. He has so many legendscostumes like Imperial Night, Um, Borisk

(18:44):
Failure because he's the one person inthe world who loves Borisk Failure. I
like bores too, Like I loveto hate him. That's violent. Do
you do you love him enough todress up in a first suit for it?
Like? No, I love Bill. Um. But yes, once
once his life calms down a littlebit, he's definitely gonna be helping us

(19:04):
out. He's already been helping meout on the side kind of with stuff,
so yeah, um, yeah,he'll be involved. And then my
friend Ryan as well. He's herein Los Angeles. Um, he's also
part of the costume clubs and heworks in Hollywood, so he's going to
help us with like acquisition type thingsfor the area because he knows literally everybody.

(19:26):
UM, so being like, youknow, hey, where do we
go to get our signage printed andstuff like that? And one thing about
this calm guys, we were kindof looking at it that it wouldn't just
be always in Burbank, Like we'regoing to look around different cities in the
US. Um. You know,we're probably not going to go international because
we don't have the funding for thatunless we do it in Canada and they'll
set up everything, which I don'twant to do. Um. So you

(19:52):
know, if you guys kind ofsign up for the coke, like the
coffee, you have a potential opportunityto pick what's city we might be going
through in the future. So youknow, we'll talk a bit more about
that coming up. Yes, Yeah, so our goals for this convention,
we talked about this a little bitalready. We just really want to create

(20:12):
an event that is going to fostera positive and inclusive environment for our love
of Legends. That's something that hasbeen lacking in recent years, and that's
really what is driving us to putthis together, is just to make our
own space to love Legends. Andwe also want to support the creators of

(20:33):
Legends content and celebrate their work andsupport fan content creation as well. Something
that was talking about a little bitearlier, how like it's been harder to
find you know, new stuff thatpeople are doing with Legends or really you
know, bringing creating a place forpeople to you know, bring out stuff
that maybe has been in the closetfor a few years and just be a

(20:57):
fan. Yeah, Like right now, the only real spot for that is
Joe bon Jono's website, uh stowerstimeline dot net, where he actually you
know, publishes all these obscure authorsand forgotten articles and you know stuff that's
been pulled from the Star Wars dotcom website that's just not available anymore.
So he's kind of like the meccaof all those information. So whenever I

(21:18):
need to like find something and Iinstantly find it through him, I'm like,
oh, Joe, like you reallysaved our butts with things, so
like, yeah, it's just there'sjust so much of a need for it.
Yeah, but I think I thinkthere's a lot of I think there's
a lot of different places for that. Um. So, like the goal
is, you know, like bringeverything together, like um, within the
costume clubs. The flagship Eclipse firstis pretty much entirely Legends characters because it

(21:47):
was created as like the expanded UniverseDetachment of five first. Um. And
now that's also you know, theNew books and comics characters, but you
know it's a ton of Dearth Nihilis'sand mar j Aid's and you know,
et cetera. UM. So yeah, you know, you just really like
creating a place for all these groupsto come together that you might not be

(22:07):
aware of each other. So that'ssomething I'm really looking forward to in this
since, Yeah, making those connectionsand supporting the creators too, you know,
that's that's something that you know,we really want to be focusing is
it the ones who aren't part ofthe franchise anymore, but you know we
love their work, like obviously MatthewStover, you know, we adore his

(22:30):
work. Yes, but these legends. So you know, let's get Matthew
stover there. Yes please, um, if he's available, if you swill
um, yeah, no, I'dI'd love to. He was so much
fun to talk to in the interviewthat I did with him. Um,
he'd be great to have the guest. I think everyone would be in that

(22:52):
room. Yes, yes, we'regonna we're gonna need the big room for
that. Yeah. Yeah, whichwe That brings us to our next topic
of when and where? Um asyou already September ninth and tenth, twenty
twenty three, and the where isthe airport at Marriott Convention Center in Burbank,
California. It is a I'd sayit's a very large venue, like

(23:14):
for a first year event like this, um. And it just so worked
out that was like the best forus, both like financially and logistically and
all that kind of stuff. Um. Because logistically because it is right next
to the Burbank Airport, which isgoing to be very beneficial for or those
of you who are coming in fromoutside of California because you get to avoid
lax. Um that it's just insane, it is, it's wild. Um.

(23:42):
But yeah, we're going to havethree panel rooms. UM, so
you know that, and there therewill be one very big one that we
can use for you know, ifwe get anybody like Matthew Stober that will
be standing room only. UM.And it's just it's a lot of really
good space for us. UM.We've started working on the floor pane already,

(24:03):
and I really think that we're goingto put together a really amazing show
in this space. I think sotoo. Yeah yeah, And so what
are we going to put in thatfloor Planum? We've already started reaching out
to vendors. I hit the streetsof Burbank a couple weeks ago and talked

(24:23):
to some comic bookstores, bookstores, collectible stores, gaming, all those sorts
of things that have Star Wars thingsavailable. Um. We're also talking about
reaching out to like some chain thriftstores. That was something that was super
awesome at Celebration Chicago Is there wasone of those like big chain their stores

(24:47):
had a booth there that was justStar Wars stuff, like so much of
it, um, I like alot of it was you know, like
nineties, early two thousands era, yes, yes, um, and you
know in tons of books and comicstoo. For just like dirt cheat prices.
UM. So fingers crossed that wecan get that there too, because

(25:08):
that was probably my favorite part ofCelebration Chicago in terms of vendors, UM,
and we would love to bring thatback with a bookstore. I went
to one today fine note yeah, and I asked her, I'm like,
hey, do you have any StarWars books? Because I always do when
I'm gonna you know, bookstop,as any of us would. And she's
like, do you mean for kids? And I looked at her, I'm

(25:32):
like, uh that already like said, you don't have anything, right and
like just like an encyclopedia of characters, And I was like, okay,
I don't. Yeah, yeah,it's at all content you know that right?
Yeah? Yeah. Well day ofthe of the stores that I went
and talked to, UM, there'sone comic stor in particular that had like

(25:56):
several boxes of back issues of zEra comics. And the guy that I
talked to you there seemed interested.UM. So yeah, we're really looking
to, you know, bring bringas many of those together as we can,
UM and just have that that stuffavailable for purchase. UM. Helpe
you guys find you know, themissing parts of your sets. UM.

(26:21):
And you know, we've been throwingout some other wild ideas too of like,
oh yeah, I wonder if likethere'd be a tattoo parlor who'd be
interested in, you know, comingto set up shop and is that even
feasible with you know, regulations andWHATNOTUM, But yeah, fun fun stuff
like that UM, as well aslicense vendors, both small scale ones that

(26:41):
are local to the California area. There's quite a few actually um that do
like really cool like jewelry or artprints UM. And then also larger scale
ones that are you know, veryrelevant to the Star Wars books and comics
UM. If they're interested in comingout, we would love to have them.

(27:02):
And also of course an artist Dalli, which we definitely are looking to
have a good artist Dalli. Shootus an email at Legends Consortium at gmail
dot com if you are an artistor any of these other things he would
be interested. We're going to getthat those info packets out pretty soon.
Oh yeah. And exhibitors, sinceyou know, myself and several others involved

(27:30):
in this or so like you dothe costume clubs who are going to be
inviting them hoping to do some SaberGuild performances as well. For those of
you who aren't familiar with the group, that is the Lightsaber Choreography Group.
I've done a show as Mara beforeand it's super fun. I probably won't
have time to do it here, but I know that, Like, as

(27:53):
like I was writing that show, you know, you have to like write
it for the common denominator audience. So you have to write it kind of
like okay, like if the audiencewas listening to this, like they're probably
gonna think she's an inquisitor and likeso it makes sense to them, you
know, um yeah yeah, Likeand like the same thing with Reven.
You know, like when we're writinga show with Reven, we just have
to kind of like you know, make it so that it would make sense

(28:14):
to the audience of just that arelike Reven's a big bad sith you know,
Um, so people are. It'sit's exciting to have the chance to
have an event where you can writethings that are like deep nerd you know,
not have to not have to tryto dance around some stuff. Um
and other like really high profile fanworks groups like we'd love to have Wikipedia

(28:38):
come out. Um. Those sortsof things that just contribute so much.
Um, may be great to havethem. And we are thinking about having
table space for sale for promotion offan organizations or fan films that sort of
thing. Uh, that would bea really fun way to you know,

(29:00):
promote, promote your group, promoteyour fan works, that sort of thing.
If you're not selling something and wouldn'twant to be part of the actual
artist, ali about having like apodcast table there too. It would be
good for the Yeah, yeah, that'd be fun. Um and all all
proceeds. Part of our agreement withthe like the guidelines that Lucasfilms sent us
um is that all proceeds have togo to a charitable cause. So we

(29:25):
will be um, we're we're meetingvery soon actually to narrow it down to
a couple of top charities. Um. And then the final decision will probably
um be something that is part ofour coffee rewards. So stay tuned for
that little part of this. Yeah, we're hoping you know, we're not

(29:45):
by us at all, but tohave Peter Mayhew is one of the charity
films, so yes, so yeah, Peter Mayhew Foundation is great. Um
yeah, yeah, they're they're amazing. We as long as we've weashed out
to them um already through somebody whois involved with leadership there um, and
yeah, there's like preliminary interest andyeah, I think in any case we'd

(30:11):
want to have them there as anexhibitorum to promote their cause because they just
do such great work. And AndrewMayhew is amazing. Oh miss them,
yes, um, but yeah, what what you can do at this convention?
We plan to have the you knowusual setup of author artists panels and

(30:32):
signings, as well as fan panels. We plan to have a costume contest
and then Lisa, what is itthat you're planning? So you guys may
not know this, or I mayhave briefly talked about this before, but
I have a long history of fashionmodeling. Uh you know, for in
my younger years, I've done overa hundred fashion shows, many fashioned weeks
and things like that. So Ithought I want to continue kind of what

(30:56):
they were doing at celebration. Youknow, I'm not meaning to obvia,
but I just loved the idea ofdoing you know, okuture kind of Star
Wars clothing. So it's not justyou know, let's dress up as you
know, marj no offense, butlike let's make normal clothes look like something
that Marji would wear, but that'dbe what we're exhibiting. And you know,

(31:18):
and just so we're asking people tostart your designs now because it'll probably
take a little while and we'll havemore details about, you know how like
like winners and if there's conversation andthings like that. But yeah, I
think it'll be an exciting part ofthe show and then hopefully I'll be the
MC of the event and we'll getlots of people entering. Yeah. Yeah,

(31:42):
and um, we also in termsof like other shows and stuff,
we're talking about the possibility of afan film festival that would be really fun,
probably you know, the shorter sideof fan films, but being able
to have that running for people toenjoy, and then also an evening party
that will also be something that isin kind of the Lisa Corinthia's ere Yeah,

(32:07):
I believe, yes, yeah,Corinthia definitely, she's got more of
this going. But you know,we're going to have things like Star Wars,
seam drinks then you know, justlike a general fun time to enjoy
and meet othern and not just beabout shopping and listening to channel stuff.
Yeah yeah, more mingled time.Yeah yeah, and we're also planning to

(32:30):
do some like interactive type things too. We have a in the current you
know, type of form of thefloor plan. We have a room that's
dedicated to gaming and activities, sotabletop gaming or card gaming, but also
the possibility of doing things like aswap meat for books and comics, or
painting miniatures or doing craft see thingswith damaged comics, that sort of thing.

(32:54):
You know, We're throwing ideas atthe wall at this point, but
with two days of convention uh tofill with programming for that room, there
is definitely room for there's suggestions.Yeah, yes, I like what you
were mentioning about, like using damagecomics. Like, what were some of

(33:14):
the ideas for that? Yeah.Um, this is something that I've done
a fair amount with actually, um, because I got my hands on a
water damaged copy of an Attack ofthe Clones um, and water damage doesn't
really mean anything if you're going toput decapage on it, because you're gonna
get it wet anyways. Um.So I've made a bunch of magnets with

(33:35):
that, um, just by takinglike the glass uh beads jewels. I
don't know. They're like an inchish in diameter. UM. They're meant
for like putting floral arrangements together.UM yeah yeah yeah, and you can
like uh glue on the you know, a little cut out of the character

(33:55):
UM to the backside of that, and then like attached magnets to the back
of it, and you have areally nice food magnet with and liscura on
it. UM. I've also donesome bookends that I UM. I took
the library scene from Attack of theClowns, I took theense pages UM and
turn that into a couple of bookends. UM. And then a friend of

(34:19):
mine who is like obsessed with PadmeUM, was wanting some boxes, like
magazine boxes decorated for all of herstar wards and cider collections. So I
did two UM Padme themed boxes decapagewith like different cutouts from the comic UM
and then another one that was usingtissue paper to like gradient um the colors

(34:42):
of Padme's blake dress for the onein the middle of that set. Yeah.
So um yeah. People do allkinds of stuff with DECAPAGEUM, and
comic books are really good to usefor that because the paper is pretty thin.
Um and yeah, like if youhave comics that have been water damaged
or you know, fire damaged orwhatever. You know, as long as

(35:04):
the cat didn't pee on them,Um, there's no reason to throw them
out. Like there's stuff that youcan still make out of them. All
my books are usually spilled up,so yeah. Yeah, but you know,
like things happen, like cats happen. Yeah, well again you know,
not not cats. Um well Idon't know, like if the cat
clawed you know, half of it, you know, to pieces, you
could still use the other half. But um, considering, Yeah, the

(35:27):
cat that eats your shoes, youknow, to be worried about. It's
not my cat, he's my parentscat. I'm I'm home for Christmas right
now. Yes, I am comingto you live from my childhood bedroom.
Um and yeah, he I madethe mistake of leaving some sandals sitting out
and he ate them. The catsa dog, No, this this is
not this is not the cat thatis the dog. Yap, But we're

(35:50):
getting off track. Yes, Ihave I have an orange cat who is
a cat running dog software who walkson a leash. And yeah he's wild,
but that is not who chewed myshoes. Oh no, CON's good
kitty my cat creamsicle who the bigloving one. Google always identifies him when
I take photos, like here's picturesof your dog, and so I have

(36:10):
a dog of him and I'm like, there's a cat. Google Like he's
just soffy. Yeah that's amazing.Yes, yes, well and you know
spoilers. Um, with that charitything, we're definitely looking at one that
is cat oriented, because katies,I mean, hello cattier. But anyways,

(36:37):
back on track. Um, first, before we are able to donate
our proceeds to a terrible cause, first we need money. UM. So
we have a coffee set up.UM. If you aren't familiar with coffee,
it is something kind of like Patreon, um, but a little bit
different. Um. There's reasons theother one I don't know. But yeah,

(37:01):
sometime we're also going to do aKickstarter, but for now, as
we're they're like building up our audience. We wanted to use coffee because with
Kickstarter it's like an all or nothingfundraisers. So if we set a goal
and we don't meet that goal, then we don't get any of the money.
So first we need to build upa following of people so that we
could actually meet a goal on Kickstarter. So yes for coffee. Either one

(37:25):
time donations are possible, or youcan become a sustaining member with a monthly
donation. Right now. For onetime donations, we have it set up
where if you donate fifteen dollars ormore, you get one of the purple
stickers that is shown here. Forthose of you joining us on YouTube with
twenty five or more, you'll alsoget a bookmark along with that sticker that

(37:45):
is being designed by the punche ChewyPress people. And fifty or more gets
a bookmark and a stick or packand the other two color options that you
see, the red and the gold, those the other stickers for the stick
pack. And one hundred and tendollars or more is a bookmark, a
sticker pack, and then you'll alsoreceive a code that can be redeemed for

(38:08):
a convention ticket once we get thoseset up. Yeah, so that covers
what a whole day have we decidedthe is it a packet feel for that
one? Yeah, the one hundredand ten, yeah, you would get
you would get the weekend, yes, yes said yeah, yes, yes,

(38:29):
that would be yeah, the weekendweekend ticket along with the bookmark and
sucker pack. So that's a prettygood deal guys. Just yes, this
is your first first chance to gettickets. Um, and we'll we'll start
mailing these rewards out in January.Um, once you know, holiday travel
and holiday postal service chaos is over. Umm. Oh man, it's been

(38:58):
brutal lately. Yeah, it's warmedup today and now I had a mosquito
biting me while we've been recording.Where did this where? How did you
survivee? I'm like, there's nooutside crazy weather. Yeah, it's pretty
amazing. I love the stickers, yes, I love I love our logo.

(39:19):
We um, we we put alot of thought into you know,
because it needs to be something thatis not intellectual property of LUCASILM obviously.
Um. And you know talk talkingto them being like okay, is the
word legends copyright no? Okay?Word to expand Universe? Like are those
words copyright no? Okay? Um. That's why in our social media you

(39:40):
see a lot of legends and expandUniverse and you don't see us saying Star
Wars yeah, um oh my channelyet it we're legends library yeah, all
legends yeah, yes, Um butyeah, like you know, using using
a typeface that is reminiscent of theLegends books and the Star Wars behind it,
which is reminiscent of a couple oflike the era Um insignias that you

(40:02):
know used to be on the frontcover of all the books. Um,
you know, putting something together thatwill really tie together, you know,
and give you that Legends feel umwithout having anything that is not our intellectual
property. Honestly, it looks likeit like you would just open up one
of your regular copies of books andbe like, oh, there it is.
Yeah, yeah, and it couldbe with a bookmark. Yeah there

(40:28):
you go. Um. Yeah.Once again, um, that is copy
dot com slash Legends underscore con Sothat is our one time donation rewards.
We also have the option for monthlysupport at the dollar tier. Um.
That's our smuggler level. Um.And once again we have our you know,
non denominational non ip drawings coming upwith these for fun as well.

(40:54):
So smuggler. Yes, it's adollar per month and you'll receive some behind
the scenes updates from members of ourplanning team. Right now. Up there
is my more like background for me, more like some Cosway photos and like
more discussion of the previous events thatI've done, a link to the interview

(41:16):
with Matthew Stover that I did,So that's sort of like it. That's
our lowest level of multi support. And then we have our Rebel level,
which is ten dollars a month. This is my favorite of the little like
drawings that we did for it,Yeah, because it's just it's t call
like it's not it's it's what yousee in a New Hope. But it's

(41:37):
definitely not copyright because it is aUNESCO World Heritage site. You can't copyright
that. So at this ten dollarstier of Rebel, for ten dollars a
month, in addition to the behindthe scenes updates, you'll also receive a
monthly Legends themed sticker or bookmark orother small item basically anything that can fit
into a regular sized envelope, whichallows us to have this be like the

(42:00):
same price for everybody no matter whereyou are in the world, so like
if you're like Lisa and you're inCanada, you will also receive these things.
And yes, yes, and thenour highest level of donation for monthly
support is the Night level. Andthis in addition to the behind the scenes

(42:21):
updates and the monthly little Reward. You'll also get access to exclusive posts and
polls where we will ask questions likeyou know, prioritizing what kind of events
we might want, or prioritizing likewhat type of content creators. And eventually,
you know, if we narrow itdown to a couple of charities and

(42:44):
we need help with some like atiebreaker vote, you know, having that
be up to the vote for thepeople at the night level, and then
very far in the future if weare you know, as we're deciding on
a future location for the convention fora coming year, that will also be
something that is there. So twentyfive dollars a month um. That really

(43:07):
that will really help us, likewe in order to make this convention all
that it can be. You know. Unfortunately, money makes the world go
round, um, and that'll helpus pay for you know, right now,
what we're paying for is the downpayment for the venue. But eventually,
you know, any any you know, as money comes in from ticket

(43:29):
sales and from the vendors paying theirfee in order to you know sell at
the convention. Um. The moneythat comes from these like the coffee starter,
that's just going to help us bringin more cool guests. Um,
so, if you want the conventionto be legendary, please donate. Jazz
hands doesn't Yes, so again,Legends listeners. You know we're employing for

(43:53):
a little bit of support here.I know it's kind of out of the
ordinary. We spitable episode talking aboutif I, but just just reality to
get our dream going. So sothank you for staying obviously tuned in through
those episodes. Yeah. Yeah,So, um, where else other than

(44:14):
coffee that you can find us online? Um, we are on Instagram,
Twitter, and hithe at Legends UnderscoreCon and then we are on Facebook and
tumbler at Legends Consortium. And youcan also email us at Legends Consortium at
gmail dot com or go on ourwebsite Legends dascon dot com. And we

(44:36):
have a link tree that is justLegends con all one word. Yeah,
we're all over the internet. Comefind us. Yeah, definitely join the
Facebook group guys, then we canhave some discussions in there as well.
It's it's Facebook page right now.Yeah, Well we'll do We'll do a
Facebook group eventually maybe or a discardgroup. It takes it takes a lot

(44:57):
of effort to moderate a Discord groupor a Facebook group. That's that's why
we haven't pulled the trigger on thatyet. But yeah, yeah, as
as we get you know, weare open to more more volunteers. Um,
if you are someone who you knowhas experience in group moderation or event
planning or PR and have a levelhead on your shoulders. Um. Yeah

(45:21):
after a betting process, yes, yes, um yeah, you know,
like the more the more help thatwe get, um, the more feasible
feasible it'll be for us to supportsomething like a Facebook group or a Discord
group, because that just takes alot of effort, does Yeah, it
does. So as well. Youknow, any listeners, if you want
to get your art featured in thisQ and this is, this is the

(45:44):
site to go to. Uh sincelegends consortion at gmail dot com, so
you can contact half that way.UM. So if you know artwork,
fan videos, whatever you're working on, just you don't, just send an
email and we'll kind of work someideas out and see what happens. Yep.
Yeah, I'm excited. Yes,I'm so excited. This is this

(46:06):
is gonna be really fun. Imean it's not like I haven't planned my
mouth it's so, but I haveI'm I'm still debating of whether or not,
like, like I have to getinto costume at some point while I'm
there. It's just feasible. Howfeasible it is. It's going to be
for me to like do like leadershipduties while also yeah, I'm going to

(46:28):
be making an e's onsared kind ofye, so I want to look fer
spread thank you? Yes? Areyou going to do the hair for it
too? I was thinking of justgetting some like drip earrings, like okay,
are like diamond drip and just yeah, because like we'll they'll know who
I am. We're lessons con likecome on, yeah, yeah, anyone

(46:50):
else would be like nice bread food, Yeah, nice Smiss Clause, I
guess like exactly. Yeah, I'mlike missus Klaus yet hounding far from it,
like uh yeah no. And canwe talk to us a little bit
about the guests that we have sortof kind of lined up interested Yeah,

(47:14):
Um, I don't want to namenames since we haven't liked done anything officially
yet. Um, but we've westarted reaching out to guests of the people
who are local to the southern Californiaarea, and we have a book writer
and a comic writer who have bothexpressed interest when we reached out to them,
and it's it's really exciting. Theseare both of these are not people

(47:36):
who typically do the convention circuit um, which is something that I really do
want to like have that be apriority. You know. Also obviously when
people who do the conventions all thetime, you know, like Timm's on
be amazing, Um, it's notit's not him. No, he's not
local and he does lots of conventions. Um. But these are these are
people who don't typically do um,the convention circuits. So I think it'll

(47:59):
be a really special opportunity to havethem do panels and signings. Um.
Yeah. One of them that Iwas talking to was like, yeah,
you know, like if anybody's interestedin me doing a signing, yes,
yes, extremely popular, extremely popularlike people will wants or she markers.

(48:24):
Yes, yes, I will giveone hand only that we have covered this
book on the show, whoever theauthor is. So it's exciting. Yes,
yes, yeah, I'll give ahint too that. Um. One
of the two people was part ofthe Rebel Reads um athons and it was

(48:49):
very it was really great to dothat interview. UM. It's a lot
of fun. So yeah, I'lllet somebody else do the honors of doing
the parent realized they're going to figureit out. No, there was.
I don't think that one's even onour YouTube because that was that was with
forty eight hours of content. Wejust haven't gotten it all up on the

(49:12):
Revelation YouTube even though it's been somuch long like afterwards, because it's just
so much to try to like breakthe interviews up. Um. But yes,
yeah, hope we'll have once likethe holiday season has settled. That's
kind of you know, like puta pause on things for us. But
after that we will have some art, some guests to announce soon. M

(49:32):
And I know that Joe Bonjo No, he's express express an interest in going
regardless off we book him or not. You know, fingers crossed because I
would love to the channel splash moderated. But you know, I'm a little
guys, but yeah, guys, like I'm just excited. I'm I'm very
excited for it. I can't stopthinking about it all the time. I

(49:55):
mean, yeah, it's always kindof my mind when we're talking Star Wars.
So so again, everyone who's who'sstood in for this long episode.
You know, I appreciate you stickingaround and looking at it even if you
don't donate, But you can justshare like the information to other people that
you think might be interesting going justtry the word around. That's what we

(50:16):
really are looking at you to do, is just talk about it, share
it, like it, and getus more attention. So yes, please,
yes, follow our socials, doreposts if it's a platform that does
reposts, and yeah, just helpus get the right out please. Yeah,
and you know, check us outon Twitter while it exists, will

(50:37):
it exists? Yeah, we havea hive. If Twitter goes down.
Hive is kind of one of theTwitter replacements, and there's been a really
cool Star Wars fandom on there thatpopped up, So yeah, I like
Hive. Well, Katherine, beforeyou go, I will ask you to
as I always ask guests, toshare your five characters who you would tick

(50:58):
to be your Star Wars was ateam? Yes, all right, Well
to no one's surprised, Mara isgoing to be the leader of this a
team because is my favorite? Yeah, um, and that definitely like that
has to that affects who else wouldbe on the team because it has to
be people who would work well withMara then Um, and she can.

(51:19):
I mean from the way that I'mapp like the logic that I'm approaching it
from, Yes, it's like, okay, well, then who would work
well with Mara Um because she canbe a feral cat um, which is
part of why I love her.But yeah, Um. And the second
person I'm going to add to thatas Jana Um just because you know,
we have to have her apprentice ispart of this love Jana. She's amazing

(51:42):
UM. And then we're going tolike swap eras around UM. And I
would throw in Quinlan boss Um.I think that he and Mara would really
get along if they, you know, were ever in like the same era.
Um. They're both like, youknow, kind of flirt with the

(52:02):
dark side a little bit. Umboth you know, very competent able to
get things done. They'd be fun. And then for even more era mixing
Um also satial Sean because I thinkthat, again, she would work really
well with that team. And itwas some like in one of the like

(52:24):
Facebook groups, somebody posted a versesthat was like Mara versus Steal and I
was just like, oh gosh, like they wouldn't fight they would just like
it's like it's a good thing thatthey're kept thousands of years apart from each
other, because otherwise they would justtake over the galaxy, like those two.
Yeah, like that that would betrouble right there. Um. Yeah,

(52:47):
So there's those four, um andthen the fifth one is going to
have to be fairest just because Ilove them so much. Um And I
honestly think that he would get alongwell with that group because like he is
so street lace isn't really the rightterm, but like he's very like efficient

(53:08):
and like, you know, we'regoing to do this like by you know,
this particular way kind of thing. So I think that he would actually
drive really well with Maura um inthat respect of just like you know,
getting things done. Um. Soyeah, that's that's my A team is
Maura, Jana Quinlan Voss, Still, Sean and Farris Oland. It's a
great team. I don't know whatit is that they're doing, but whatever

(53:31):
it is, yeah, yes,you know, saving you know people who
have their farms being raided by somedrug cartels, yes whatever, Yeah,
taking taking out a hut cartel orwhatever. Yeah, yes, I like

(53:52):
it. Yeah, Well, oneday, like I do really want to
cover them the Scholastic book Dude Watson, of course, and I would love
to have you on for it absolutely, I think though when it comes to
that content, I will gladly ramblefor a very long time about all of
Jude Watson's characters and yet like weneed to Yeah, so yeah, I

(54:14):
mean like a lot of them, like she did so much for like expanding
on characters who you know we sawin the prequels, like Audigilia, you
know, really like creating a storyfor them. H yeah, yeah,
I love those books that Like that'sI'm of the right age that like those
books are like the peak star WisnessSoldier from me, Like I remember,

(54:37):
you know, seeing them the Slasticbook fair and all that kind of stuff.
So yeah, I remember. Wowthat takes me bag yeah, a
simpler time. Yeah, I can'treally remember what I got goose bumps maybe,
yeah, as a one would.Right. Well, again, Catherine,

(54:58):
thank you for getting this con upand going because you are absolutely the
backbone of this. And again, like I said a thousand times, I'm
excited. You guys should be excited. I'm going to be there, So
if you want to come talk,I know there's a lot of listeners in
Texas. That's not far from California. Guys, so getting your cars and
they're driving. I had someone askedme if I was going to take my

(55:22):
motorcycle down and I was like,no, that would be a trip.
I'd be gone for like two months. No, I have clothes to bring.
So yeah, he's gonna feature catswhile you're gone, right, yeah,
Like they'd be so mad. Solike we lead, we have cats

(55:45):
in Star Wars. That is okay, just like as another side that is
Like one of the things that Iam most sad about about the Legends continuity
not continuing is I want to seeAngie, not Angie Alana solo as a
teenager writing Angie the next Suit intobattle like that is my dream. Honestly,

(56:06):
that whole story. I have tosay. I know we're going off
another tangent, but like the likethe moment she gets Angie and like just
like the slaughter at the zoo.Oh my. I had such a hard
time reading that. Like I it'sone thing about Star Wars that I just
really disagree with that they always justkind of hurt animals and some things,

(56:27):
and I'm like why, like whylike just so, but I love I
love what Alana had to say.I'm just like, well, you know,
yeah, you killed you killed themom, so therefore we have to
take it like Okay, we've gota granddaughter and the next suit. Now
yeah, no, now we havelike it's not just a house cat,

(56:49):
it's a next su It's like takea bunch of teething. Yeah, she's
beauty, she's grace, she'll eatyour criffing face. Yes, yeah,
you're still right. I wish wehad that. Ah. But if you
have a fan fiction of it,maybe you can introduce it at the con

(57:10):
guys or fan art, make thatas a print and buy it. Yeah
yes, and you guys, yeahpaying anything Marra Jade, this person here
will buy it. So yeah, that's like I go to conventions, like
you know, like in my Maracostume and like somebody he's like, oh,
hey, I have a lot ofStar Wars are over here. I'm
like I go look, and I'mlike, do you have anything with Mara?

(57:31):
Yeah? No, okay, Yeah, that's that's another conversation. Were
time for We don't have time formy son, worry, none of us
are Yeah, we again, welove all things Star Wars, but we're
we're alleged, so we all do. I just like the scene where he

(57:52):
just beats up the elevator, likeI said, because I'm like, you
know, I get the inner anger, like I can appreciate that moment.
That's it we're going away from.Yes, so again, listeners, thank
you so much for tuning in,and thank you Kavin for joining us.
