Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to the Legit Side Hustles podcast. I'm your host,
Miles and today I'm going to tell you about five
blogging platforms I'm really excited about. And remember you can
find show notes in the description or over on legitside
hustles dot com and remember to subscribe to the show
for more weekly episodes like this one. Now let's talk
(00:23):
about the five platforms I'm really excited about, and before
we dive in, I want to tell you that each
platform has a unique set of features and tools to
help you share your ideas, grow your audience, and monetize
your writing. Also, each tool has a clean interface, modern design,
and a focus on content creators. With that out of
the way, let's check out these platforms and the first
(00:44):
one is Beehive and Beehive is one of the best
newsletter platforms for creators who want to build a full
blown media brand. They have a built in blogging function
and it allows you to publish posts from the same
interface used to write your newsletters. Beehive was designed and
(01:06):
built by a former Morning Blue employee named Tyler Dank,
so you know you're in good hands and the company
is focused on helping creators monetize with sponsors and other
easily implementable revenue streams. Plus, they help you grow your
email subscriber list with ease using their built in growth tools.
(01:28):
So just go to beehive, choose a newsletter template, and
you can launch your blog slash email list combo in
less than fifteen minutes. The second platform is Medium, which
is a subscription based blogging platform with a built in audience.
A lot of writers and bloggers love Medium because you
can focus on writing without worrying about setting up a website.
(01:49):
Medium also has a partner program which allows you to
earn money based on how many reads your post gets.
The main conum Medium is the fact that you don't
own your content. However, you can look into creating your
own Medium publication, which gives you editorial control and your
own domain name. It's free and easy to start your
Medium account. Just create your author profile, which will take
(02:11):
like five minutes, and then you can start publishing right away.
The third platform is substack, which is a paid newsletter
platform and they also let you publish blog posts to
the web that act as your blog or essentially, you'll
create a newsletter that you can also publish to the web.
(02:32):
It's completely free to start and they only charge you
when you make money from paid subscriptions. It's super easy
to use, jam packed with incredible features, and has a
fantastic built in discovery network called substack notes, which is
similar to platforms like x or Blue Sky. So just
go to substack name your publication, and I recommend writing
(02:53):
an introductory email. Also, don't get distracted or overwhelmed by
the features by the other advanced features I should say,
you can deal with those later and just take it
one step out of time. The fourth platform is Ghost,
which simply put, is a modern, open source website platform
(03:15):
designed for blogging, newsletters, and memberships, and they have lots
of helpful publishing tools. Their platform is fast, SEO friendly,
very customizable, and they emphasize monetization with paid subscriptions. They
have a fourteen day free trial which gives you a
stress free chance to test out its robust blogging features.
(03:38):
So go ahead and check out Ghost. And the fifth
and final platform is pay Hip and it's one of
the best e commerce platforms for selling digital products and
they have a built in blogging tool. Their blogging features
are minimal, but they're effective, easy to use. And free.
I would say blogging on pay Hoop is a good
(03:59):
choice if you want to sell digital products like ebooks, courses,
or printables and use a blog to help market them.
All in one place and so you can start your
free pay hips store in minutes and from there you
can add a blog to your store using the blog
post tab and then start posting. As for pricing, pay
(04:20):
Hip will take five percent of your sales revenue. They
also have paid plans for creators who are ready to
scale their online stores revenue. And that wraps up the
blogging platforms. All five of these platforms are really solid
picks and each one serves a variety of unique needs
(04:41):
for bloggers. Pick one based on monetization, audience growth, or
your specific content creation needs. And keep this in mind.
All of these blogging platforms are free to start, so
just pick one and get started. You've got nothing to lose.
Thank you so much for listening to the Legit Side
Hustles podcast. I hope to catch you in the next
(05:04):
