Speaker 1 (00:22):
All right. I like that little music. I like for
to keep it there a long time. I enjoy it. Hey,
I help you everybody doing. Good day to everybody, and
welcome to let Grandpa speak. I'm glad you tuned in
because I got a lot to talk about. I'm the
voice of the fifty plus and all the rest of us.
I'll give you a lot of good information, and I
always come with information you can use. That's what the

(00:44):
show is mainly about, to help us to make our
lives a lot better than what has ever been. I'm Grandpa,
and i'm your host. I'm the number one show on
the internet. Let Grandpa speak. Glad you tuned in. We've
got a lot of good things for you today. First,
I want to stop right here and say I lost
a dear friend of mine last week. He usually call

(01:05):
into this show every Saturday. He used to call me
every Saturday morning too, and I got kind of used
to that. So I know I'm gonna miss him, and
I just pray that he's fine. Wherever he went, even
if he was out of town, he would always call me.
He would always be on the show. He was there,
and he always ended the show with bye Grandpa. Right,

(01:26):
I miss that. I know what everybody else will miss
it too, But that's the way life works for us,
and we have to keep going. But I'll just keep
on doing the show and giving our good information. So
don't worry about it, you know. I am don't know
if I should take a minute of the pause or
give solence for him, and maybe I'll just take like
a couple of seconds. Let's just do that, all right,

(01:54):
I think we should move on and do it do
Halloween was last night. Everybody was out for Halloween, so
I guess all the kids got a lot of candy
and stuff like that. I know we don't have where
I live at. We don't have kids coming outside. But
the people in here they brought up. Somebody brought me
some candy and all kinds of stuff for trick and reading.

(02:17):
So I enjoy that. But hey, that's where it worked.
And then, yeah, I got to remind you to it
this weekend. It's a daylight saving time. You have to
move your clock back one hour on Sunday, so make
sure you remember. And if you don't remember, you know

(02:40):
a lot of a lot of clocks are like your computer.
They do it automatically. But if you don't. If you
get worried about something, you're going to work late in hour,
you know you know you've got to do it anyway,
remember to turn your clock back. Yes, sit around house

(03:02):
eating a lot of candada today. Yeah, they wy seniors.
We work a lot of years. We spend most of
our years trying to take care of our family, doing
what we want to what we need to do to
make their life comfortable. To see, it's work. It means
we got to stay at that grind sometimes maybe thirty
sometimes forty years. Some people work on their job and

(03:25):
then they retired, and what do they do? Some of
them go and sit down. Some of them don't want
to do much anything after that. They just say I'm through.
I'm not gonna do anything more. I'm just gonna sit
here and enjoy life like I was supposed to. I
don't want to do nothing. They don't have no interest
in anything. Well, let me tell you something that is

(03:48):
not a good thing. That is not a good thing.
I know I've done it because I was one of
those who were tired, and I had no idea of
doing anything anything. In other words, I had no future.
I was just living from day today and that's all
I wanted to do. Get up, brush my teeth, clean

(04:08):
up myself, clean myself up a little bit. And then
the rest of the time I did nothing. I didn't
want to do nothing, But things started happening to me.
My life started to break, and my body started to
break down a little bit a whole. I begin to
see things a whole lot different. I say, you know what,

(04:30):
I gotta find out a way to do this. This
is not working for me. I gotta find out a
way to be retired and then enjoy it. Let me
tell you, do not retire and think you're gonna do nothing.
If you do, you're gonna have a lot of different problems,
because you will have problems if you retire and do nothing.

(04:53):
We were human beings, I guess we're made to do something.
We're made to be involved in things. We're made to
be that. So a lot of times we will think, well,
I don't want to do nothing because I work for
forty years and I'm tired and I don't want to move.
But you got to keep moving. If you don't, you're
gonna leave here real quick. You're not gonna live a long,
very long after that. And enough people who do who do?

(05:15):
Used to do that years ago to today? People don't
do that a lot. Most people will start doing something else.
They'll get interested in something else. You can get interested
in your grandchildren. You might get it interested in, uh,
something that you have always wanted to do. You've got
to get your to keep your life interesting in order

(05:37):
to keep living and remain healthy and feeling good all
the time. Or other than that, you just start have problems.
Your body start to break down once you stop moving.
So you know, you've been going to work, you've been
active for forty years, and all of a sudden you
stop and I think your body going in the shock
mod and say, wait a minute, something ain't right here.

(05:58):
He's not moving anymore. And when that happens, then things
other things, your physical party, your break down, and your
mental and medical part of you also break down. You
start having all kinds of troubles. I know I've done it,
and I began to get what happened to me. I
began to get fat. I must have been at least

(06:19):
fifty pounds overweight from just sitting around and not doing nothing.
And I didn't like that feeling because it was I
was sluggish. I couldn't move around. I think I was
beginning to have other problems. My knees start going out. Everything.
So hey, look I'll say, look, I got to get
up here and get busy. And I did, and I

(06:40):
keep moving. And that's what I need to tell singers
in your life. When you get retired, you're doing that.
Keep moving. Maybe you don't want to go to work,
and I'm like that at a job. I don't blame
you about that, but you have to keep moving cause
you got to keep your body going. Once your body
shut down, it is highly difficult to get it to
come up again. I see people who have just they've

(07:02):
let it go. Let it go. Don't let that happen
to you. Keep yourself moving, keep yourself going. I was
so far overweight. I didn't know what to do, and
I decided, look, I gotta do something. So I tried
this diet. I tried that diet, I tried this, I
tried all kinds of things, but you know, but I

(07:22):
wasn't getting anywhere. I even bought a lifetime membership in
the gym, so I was going to the gym every
evening and everything. Now it did help me out a lot.
Tone up me a little bit, you know, but it
wasn't a lot. But it was just the idea that
was going. And I was moving and I was exercising,
and that helped me out a lot in a lot

(07:43):
of weight. But I wasn't riching doing what I was
wanted to do. I didn't reach the part of my
life where I wanted to be. But I felt good,
but I didn't. But I didn't lose myth weight. Well. Well,
I found out that the VA had a class they'll
teach you about. It was an electure on nutrition and

(08:04):
these nutritioners were supposed to be able to teach you
how to lose your weight and everything. So somebody had
told me about it and told me that they had
tried it. If you want to lose weight, I would
make if you. You may not necessarily need to go
out and buy a lot of these different weight things
for it. Find a nutrition. Find a nutrition. If you

(08:26):
can't figure it out for yourself, get you a nutrition,
and the nutrition can help you do all the things.
In my case, I was doing all the things wrong.
I was. I did everything that I should not have
been doing. First of all, I began to eat my
food food like I was a vacuum cleaner. When I

(08:48):
sat down to eat, I'll swipe it ill cleaned that
plate off. In no time at all, I'll be finished.
Everybody else is eating, I'm through. And I realized something
there from that. When I went to take the class
from that's the first thing they begin to tell me,
and that is how to eat. Because a lot of
times you may not be eating a lot of stuff
that would make you fat. You may not know what's

(09:10):
making you fat or whatever. But I always say, fat
people know what makes them fat, you know, because that's
the habit that they're doing every day. And they got
to realize it. But anyway, I was so tired of
being big and fat and overweight. And I'm not that tall,
so I look like five by five coming at you.

(09:33):
So when I took this class, the one thing that
I learned about eating was this, and that is how
to eat. And most of us never learned how to eat.
We never even think. We just started eating, you know,
as a kid, and eating with our hands, and then
Mam and them to get us a fog, try eating far.
But they still don't tell us really how to eat.

(09:54):
For our best things. So then how they eat is
very important, and how do you eat really matters for you,
for all of us, and that's what we need to learn,
and that is how to eat, and that will help
you get your body in good sheepe your weight with Lord,
you'll get down to where you're supposed to be for
your body size and all of that. But you have

(10:16):
to learn how to eat first, because if you eating,
really eating and swallowing your food real fast and everything,
you're not going to lose your weight. You're going to
gain weight that food. I don't believe all the food
is digestible if you don't chew it up, so that
food goes somewhere in your body. I think it makes

(10:37):
you fat. It makes this stomach fat, or do all
the things. It's not going out of your body. It's
still in there. It's like fat and in terms of
fat in your body. And you don't want that to
happen to you because once that happened to you, your
arteries begin to clog up. Your heart begins to clog up,
your kidneys, your liver, all kinds of things begin to

(10:59):
not function properly. And that's why when you guys, you
get older, some purpas be getting having more problems having
a medical problem, and a lot of people think, well,
because I'm getting older, that's not That's not why you're
being sick. You're being sick because you're not doing the
right thing, and you have to do the right thing.
But I learned for myself. For me, the right thing

(11:21):
for me to do, I learned was to eat properly.
So what I happened was I when I was taking
this nutrition class, I stopped eating a lot of food.
I wouldn't eat. I was more or less fasting. So
but I didn't lose any weight. I was fastening and
didn't lose the weight. What was gonna saw? I went
back to the teacher. The teacher said, I told you

(11:43):
that food. You need to burn the food off you.
You have to eat to lose the weight. And I
threw me for a loop. Obviously I gotta eat to
lose the weight. That don't make sense to me. Look
like I'm eating, I'm gaining way. She said, no, if
you eat right. So what I did they show? She
showed me how to eat. She said, first of all,

(12:05):
stop swallowing your food. You eat too fast, and swallowing
your food chew it all the way up. So I
had a habit. If I had funk, I was shit.
I was still doing it, so I would have it.
She told me, take up, buy the food, your food.
She would put it in your mind with you. Put
your park down, put it down, and chew the food.

(12:25):
So that's what I started doing. And I was chewing
the food up. And I would chew my food up.
I began to like it because I had the food.
If it's something I like, I have it in my mouth.
I've enjoying it much more longer than doing and I
was chewing it up real fine. After that, my whole
body changed. I lost all that fifty pounds. I was

(12:45):
weighing two hundred and eleven. I'm down to one fifty
four fifty five now, and that's where I staying. I
feel good. I do my exercise, I bowl or ex
do all the things. And you can do it too.
So if you're eating wrong, that maybe part of the
problem of you not feeling good. Are you're losing or

(13:09):
you're not gaining, you're not losing weight, you're getting fat,
you're getting all doing all these things. So stop for
a minute think about what you're doing. If you don't
get the point here, go see a nutritionist and let
them tell you how to eat, because that's one of
the things that will really help you. And you won't
have clogging up your arteries and all that stuff with

(13:30):
a lot of different food that you didn't chew up,
or that you didn't eat any everything. So, like I said,
I lost all that time. I don't eat that much anymore. Food.
I don't eat like I used to eat a whole
plate of food and go back and get another plate,
and I'm just gobbling food down. Now I enjoy it.
I eat a lot less and I enjoy it a

(13:51):
lot more. So if you havn't a problem with eating,
try that. See if it work. Is that's my method,
that's what I use, and you might do this same thing.
Just calm yourself down and just eat normally, eat mildly,
eat slowly, and your food and make sure you chew
your food up all the weight. And what I do now,

(14:12):
I get I get a spoonful of this' a fumeful
of that, and the funeful, and I don't eat anything more.
So by the time you finish eating chewing it up,
you don't want anything else. Well, you already you already
feel for so try that if you have a problem.
But that's what I want to see. That's just coming sense,
so make sure you do it. I'm Grandpa here. Every Saturday,

(14:33):
I always come up with a good, something good to
start to show. But today we're going to talk about, uh,
it's we're gonna talk about. Oh, let me see here
what I'm talking about. If you're fifty years old and
you're still doing certain things, you're doing the right things.
So usually i'll talk about things that you're doing, uh

(14:57):
that that may be wrong. So this week I'm i
want to talk about something about people who are doing
the right thing, and I'm flaying that and encourage them
to keep up doing the right thing. So I'll be
right back. Make sure you be tuned because you may
be one of the people who's not doing the right thing,
and you need to know that in order to live
your life longer and more pleasant with all being sick,

(15:19):
with all going through all the problems you had, So
make sure you stay tuned. I'll be right back.

Speaker 1 (18:54):
All right, all right, all right, it's half of the show.
This show is one hour. The first half far I
do common sense what I just did, and this part
I do I talk about the scientific things that we
need to know and understand how to live. So if
you're over fifty and you're still doing the eight things
that I'm going to talk about, you're aging better than

(19:17):
most people, or will be aging and you can make
yourself be happy. You have to participate in life to
get in it, to get it, to get things to work,
you get anything, you have to participate in it. If
you still lifting, still lifting up stuff, it's good. Don't
stop living because you lose your strength. And once you

(19:39):
lose your strength, you can't live it up. It's like
this guy was sitting there, you know how you used
to pull the pop the bottle caps off and everything.
He couldn't do it because they've been sitting there too
long and didn't do it. So he has to ask somebody,
you know, can you help me open the scan here?

(20:00):
And you have to open the camp. You lose your strength,
you're losing your independence. So keep lifting, keep walking as
much as you can. If you don't say well I
can't walk, Just walk around your house. Just walk. Just
make sure you walk anyway, even if you have a problem.
I have a knee problem. Some people have bone on

(20:22):
bone knee problem and they just don't want to walk. Walk. Walk.
I'm sure your doctor will tell you to walk. Do walk,
Do some gardening in your yard, talk to your friends.
You're not just aging, you're thriving and life is wonderful
for you if you do it. But you can't withdraw
yourself from living and think you're going to keep on living.

(20:45):
You're not. You have to get out there and do something.
And I realized how important it is to be by
yourself and thinking about things out and let your mind run,
think until you think about things that you never thought
about before. It is a valuable time in your life too.
But also you need your privacy and you need to
do things different. But also you need to have involvement

(21:08):
with other people in your life too. So you're fifty,
still doing the eight things they're gonna tell you about.
You're pulling a head and you're doing real great. Now
let's go let's see what they are. Number one, keep
moving every day, Keep moving every day, not training, you know,
I mean not like you're in a marathon or something
like that. No, just keep moving, you know, just your

(21:30):
normal moving around what you do. Like for me, I'll
be here, I'll be there. I have a small house,
but I do to my own floors up. I'll do this,
I clean this, I clean that. Then I go outside
and look for things I need to do. And there's
always something you need you could do. And then also
I'll go in the garage. The garage is full of

(21:51):
stuff that you need to do. There's stuff that I
need to throw away. I'm cluttering up all that stuff.
So then you can keep yourself busy just by doing
do that. Just keep yourself busy and interested in living.
And walk, you know, if you have lunch, take a
little walk, you know, if you do to keep yourself
moving and independent, ride a bike. You know, I ride

(22:14):
a bike almost every day or every other day, as
much as I can. If I don't ride the bike
my I have a three wheel bike, I'll ride it
in the street. I'll go to the gym and ride
the bicycle there. Well, you know, by riding a bicycle
gives you longevity, It helps give you the long at
seventeen or eighteen percent longer lifestyle than you would if
you didn't. So remember to do those things. And there's

(22:37):
a reason for that is because it keeps your body circulating.
Your blood circulation keeps your body strong so that you
can can keep moving around with strength like you suppose
do the long walk or something more and stuff. You
know that that. Don't spend your time doing nothing all
the time. You know, if you can do a little something,

(22:57):
even if you can work up a little sweat a
little while, that's good. You know, I worked up a
sweat day before yesterday, I worked out real good and
I worked out a sweat. I went to the gym
and I worked out a number and I developed a sweat.
So I did that, you know, yeah, you know. And
you don't have to be from the blue zone really

(23:18):
to to copy and make all the things that you're
supposed to do to move I know people live in
the blue zone who live to be one hundred years old.
They keep moving, they keep eating, They have habits that
they use, and I've told you some of the habitists
that they can use and you can use it. So
make movement automatically in your day. Make sure you design

(23:38):
your day out. Keep moving. If you sit down, watch
the TV, just get up. You don't have to get
up and take exercise, Get up, stretch, move yourself, take
a deep breath, and sit back down, because if you don't,
if you keep sitting there, your your joint's gonna get
stiffen up and when you get up it really painful.

(23:59):
It's like, wow, how can I get up? Don't do that.
That's why I say keep moving. Keep you either you're
setting down, say watching TV when they have a commercial,
you take you take a break to move up, move around,
don't just sit there and watch the commercials all the time.
Keep going. That's what the first step is, to keep moving.

(24:20):
And that's what anybody and everybody will tell you that
it's lived a long time. They'll all say, what is
your secret? Keep moving? If you still moving daily, you're
preserving your mobility, You're keeping yourself active, You're involing your instantly,
your insulin sensitivity. Is it working for you and the

(24:41):
mood that you have is working for you? Well? You
know if people give up without noticing life, and when
they give up, you know what's coming afterwards. So don't
give up. If you're getting older, you don't have to
do all that. Just still enjoy life. Life, it's still
for you to enjoy. You could do things that you

(25:02):
never did before, never thought about doing. Enjoy them, have
a good time. Keep moving, Keep moving, that's number one.
Keep moving. Number two, lift and carry things. See a
lot of people never lift anything, never carry anythings me,
But you need to lift and carry things. I usually

(25:23):
listed all my groceries. I guess people do carry them.
I carry them to my car. I don't use I
don't use the card to take the cart. I put
them in the cart dips back my groceries in the cart.
When I get to the door, I leave the court
cart right there. I take all my stuff out and
I carry it to the car. You can do that
if you don't do that. And also I have I

(25:46):
work out with dumbbells I go when I go to
the gym, I work out with those those weight things
and a regular dumb bell. As a matter of fact,
I almost got a muscle. Then look at that. Look
at look at that. Look at that. Hey, hey, I
got a muscle from working. And you can still gain
muscle no matter what age you are, you can still

(26:06):
keep your stress up if you want to, and you
need to do that because that's how you fall or
that's how other things happen to you. And then you know,
we didn't show them falls and they can become really
dangerous to you. So you don't want that have to
happen to you. You want to live good. You want
to be you want to be just just like me
and all the other people who are aging well. They're

(26:27):
aging well. They feel good, they feel happy, they're they're
excited about living and they also look think they have
a future. I have a future ahead of me and
I live that way with the future a way. You
don't need the fancy bar bells, you know, just get
some regular barber if you can't. Some people you have
used I know some people use can goods to work

(26:48):
out would because they couldn't have any barbell So if
you have some can goods you can do or either
go the Big Five. They got two and a half
pound weights, five pound weights, and they got ten pound
weights that you can use to do your exercise with.
You need a little strength that you need to pick

(27:09):
up some weight when you get older. Older people need
to pick up weight because weight training is very good
and it keeps their strength up. Your body doesn't care
whether the resistance is a kettle ball or showcase or
a box or sparkling water. Whatever. Whatever you can use
to get your exercise is good. And whatever you can

(27:30):
use to pick up stuff, it is good. Picking up
stuff is very good. Some people never pick up anything.
But you know, it's like running. I figured, I said,
you know I can can I stay on run and
I haven't run in a long time. And you think
about it, you don't run. After a while, you stop running.
So I said, well, you know what, let me see

(27:51):
if I can run. So I can run a little bit.
I said, But if I but practice, I do better.
But one thing I do do is I jump house.
You can jump. That'll give you strength that strengths your
whole body when you jump up and down like that.
Just jump and just jump in place. Now you're gonna
be afraid to do it when you first start. First start,

(28:12):
you're gonna say, oh, I can't jump. I can't jump,
just like you say you can't run. You can't run,
you can't jump, You can't do anything. But if you
start doing them on a on a on a on
a simple way, and a simple basis. Just don't don't
overdo it. Just start to start exercising like that. I'll

(28:33):
jump in the morning. I'll jump maybe one or two times.
Then I can jump keep jumping. I jump four five
times and that keeps me strength. That makes you feel
good and it gives you strength and help your exidic
nerve and all that to grow. You know, your body
doesn't care whether you well you know about how you
do it. Just make sure you do it. It's make sure

(28:53):
you do it. Muscle is metabolic, is metabolic gold. It
protects your joints. When you keep your muscles up your joints.
That's why people's joints go out and oh my joints hurt.
Me is overhead and older. That's because they're not moving enough.
They're probably sitting all day. Now, you know, the new
sitting is the new heart attack, the new type two diabetes,

(29:14):
the new everything. So so watch yourself on sitting. Don't
sit no longer. I've told you before. I'll tell you
again and again and again every twenty minutes if you
could think of it, get up when you're watching TV,
football game or whatever. You can sit there all day
and don't move when the commercial. Come on, get up

(29:35):
and move. That's your cue. You get up and do
something you gotta do. You know, you got to do
that and keep your blood sugar level two by running.
I know a person there he would have I guess
a lot of people would have type two diabetes if
they didn't exercise. Exercise helps get rid of it. Some

(29:58):
people have gotten rid of it. I don't say you well,
but I'm saying some people have gotten rid of type
just by exercising, by keeping themselves going, keeping themselves moving
and everything. That's how they do it, you know, so
make sure you do it if you past fifty. The
difference of strain is this, I got this. You either

(30:20):
say that or you can say I need help. Heaven
the help give somebody giving some help, So whichever one
you want. But most people, if you're living like singers
are most people that want to live in their homes.
They don't want to go to to assist the living.
And the best way to do that is keep your

(30:41):
strength up. You got to keep your strength up, and
jes are things you have to do by keep moving.
So keep moving as much as you can. And I
used to notice how how you know mama com indicachen
she stawted. Earlier, Mama would work all day long. She'd
be moving all day long when she was young. And

(31:04):
now you know you can do that because she she
cooked the food, she washed the dishes, She do this,
She do that. She may take a break in there
and the time and wash the soap operas, but most
of the time she's up, she moving, and she keeps
herself moving. And that is why I think women outlive men,
because they keep moving. If you're still lifting something heavy

(31:26):
on the record schedule, you're aging like an athlete. You're
aging in the right way, quietly, effectively and sustainably. You
are aging in the right way that you should eat.
So just keep yourself going, keep yourself picking up stuff.
Even like if you go to the grocery store, some
people say, don't park up there, rite up by the door,

(31:49):
park way down. Well, I have a handicapped fig and
I enjoy that today. But I tell you I do walk. Otherwise,
I do walk, and I ride my bicycle quite often.
I keep myself going. So if you're going to do that,
you'll be okay, and you will be aging in the
way you're supposed to age. You'll be waging healthy, you're
aging the way you feel good. Well, you're not complaining

(32:12):
all the time about this and about that. You're doing
life like you're supposed to do it because it's what
you participate in that what't matters. Okay, that was number two.
Number three, Protect your sleep. Sleeping has been a problem,
especially with inconstant that's going on with men and women.
They just have to get up in the middle of

(32:34):
the night and go to the bathroom and all that.
So sleeping is very important. That can affect you in
a certain way. So you want to try to get
as much sleep as you can and make sure you
get it right. Well, I'll do it sometimes I'll wake
up good night. I'll take me a long nap in
the daytime. And sometimes people, some seniors people take a
nap in the daytime anyway, And I've heard a lot

(32:56):
of people say, you need to take a nap. And
it energizes you. It gets you up and gets you
moving and gives you some energy. So that's another thing
you must think about. And what you consider good sleep,
it's because of a healthy agent. It tastes good deep,
it cures the weights out of your brain, It comes
your information and it gives your hormones a chance to reset.

(33:21):
Your body needs to reset. And you know what I
didn't know, your body had to reset. I was exercising exercise,
and I was over exercising. I exercised some dog going much.
I was so painful, and I didn't realize until somebody
explained to me that you're over exercising. When you get
to be at a certain age, you can over exercise.

(33:43):
Just exercise moderately. You don't have to like we say,
you don't have to overdo it. Just exercise modeling, keep
yourself going anyway. You know, pick up a little stuff
that you need to pick up. I'm not telling you
go pick up one hundred pounds bag of fertilizer or
nothing like that. You just, you know, you just do
things that are normal to you. And realize your sleep

(34:03):
is important. Picking up stuff is important. Protecting your sleep
is very important. It's the maintenance of your body. It
maintains your body, gives your body back to strength and
things that you use up during the day. You never
skip or all change in your car. If you want
your car to run, you gotta change. You gotta do things.

(34:25):
You gotta reset, So let your body reset. I've learned,
Like I said, something that I had to learn, and
I wouldn't let my body resets. I kept going because
I'm thinking, oh, I'm old. I got to keep exercising,
and I was overdoing it. Now I'm doing left moderate.
I learned how to exercise enough for myself to where
I feel comfortable, and I do. I feel comfortable for

(34:47):
most days. Other than that, my legs are hurting, my
knees are hurting, my back was hurting, all kinds of
stuff was hurting because I was doing all the wrong things.
Once you learn how to do some of the right
things of the thing you should be doing, life would
be a lot better. So what I've told you the
things that you need to do, and that is keep

(35:09):
keep moving, pick up, keep picking up somewhere, keep your
strength up, and protect your sleep. Those are the things.
Now most of them say, well, a lot of singers
don't do any of those things. They'll they'll they'll they'll
know it, they'll hear it, and they may not do it.
But I'm hoping that if I say it enough, they'll

(35:32):
begin to realize it and to do it. Tonight, Okay, Now,
number four eat mostly plant foods eat mostly pends. That
means like vegetations and stuff like that. Said, you don't
have to eat perfectly, eat well, but you do need
to eat pretty much white, you know. Like I was

(35:52):
telling you in the beginning of the show, I went
to a nutritionist and I learned how to eat properly
through that. And so some people ask me, how do
you maintain yourself? You know, you know, I'm grandpa. I'm
up there. I'm ninety five, and I'm doing great, feel good,
look good, got everything going. I'm the same as I
was when I was maybe sixty years old. Nothing has changed.

(36:15):
It's a lot. Sometimes it's a good thing. It's a
bad thing because people will look at you and think,
if you're ninety years all, you can't do this, you
can't do that. You over the hell. It's not true.
It's not at least it's not true for me. It's
not true. Yeah, you don't have to eat perfectly all
the time, but you do need to eat to eat right.

(36:35):
If you're playing it's full and dominated with plant foods,
you're doing the right thing. If you're plate it's full
of the vegetables beans. I love beans, so right to
me to me right there. I love beans. I love
the great Northern Navy beans. I love them. Hey, I

(36:56):
can eat this all the time. Whole grains, now, you know,
old grains. I get mixed up on that. Sometimes I
go to the store and I see a whole grains
and there's another one they called grains or something, and
I don't think it's it's the one I should have.
But you gotta learn how to pick out the right one. Nuts, seeds,
and fruit. I eat fruit every day. You're giving like

(37:19):
giving your future self a gift. You're giving yourself a
future when you eat the right foods and all that
those things were. I noticed that they didn't have any
meat in that in that in that listing, they had
everything there, but but meat. I'm not saying meat is bad.
I'm just saying be moderate in it. Don't don't overdo it,

(37:42):
don't eat too much of it. Uh uh. I don't
know if I'm true. Rough sometime I think it makes
you high blood pressure go up because of something in it.
But be careful with it. As many vegetables as you
can eat, as many nuts as you can, eat, as

(38:04):
much fruit as you can. In the morning. For me,
I eat the apple and grapes, and sometimes I put
some peanut butter on my apples just to kind of
taste it up a little bit, and I feel good after,
you know, at first, at first I started eating like
vegetables for breakfast. Now, who's to say you can't eat

(38:27):
breakfast for breakfast. I started eating them for breakfast for
I mean vegetables for breakfast, and I kind of liked it.
I had a salad that's great. So I wasn't always
eating the bacon. I mean I eat turkey bacon. I
don't eat poor bacon. The bacon, the fried potatoes or
the home fries, eggs and grits. I like all those

(38:52):
things for breakfast. I don't just eat them every day
the same thing, but I just I eat fruit every day,
but I don't eat cell. Then. Let later on, after
I eat my fruit, I may eat egg or something
like that or whatever. But a lot of people eat
a lot of lads because it gives them protein and
they want to get the protein. So you can do
that if you want to. But the main thing I

(39:13):
think is that you're eating right. You're keeping yourself away
from getting heart disease. You're keeping yourself away from diabetes,
keeping yourself away from cancer and cognity decline, because that
cognity decline is just as bad as the other parts
of the chronic diseases that I mentioned. While keeping your

(39:34):
energy high and your activity, you're enjoying your life, and
that's what it's supposed to be. People who are getting
old shit have it at that time. You should be
enjoying your life, not figure I'm going with life now
here or go to altar. I get letters from people
to tell me about I'm eighty years old and I
don't know, and I'm very unhappy. I don't like the

(39:56):
way it's happening for me. I don't like this. I
don't like that old age. It is very hard and
difficult to live. It is if you're not doing the
right thing, that's all it is. And really, if your
life is not right, it's supposed to be right now
and you're not happy, it's because you're just not doing
the right thing. That's all thanks thing. You got to
do something different. You can't just sit there in the misery.

(40:17):
Keep learning, and that's number five. Keep learning just because
you're getting older. To me as well, I already know everything,
so I don't need a terminal. I know how you feel,
and you might feel you know everything. You think you
know everything. That's all right, But there's more you need

(40:39):
to learn, because nobody does never go everything. Keep learning.
It forces the brain, the wire and the rewire. The
brain keeps working. If you don't, the brain may stop working.
And all of a sudden you be looking around and
see your son walk up to you and say, who
is that? And that's your son? You raised him, been

(41:00):
with you all your life, you say, or your daughter
or something. Some of people even forget their wives. Who
is this? Who are you? I remember I was working
as a manager for senior housing and there was this
one lady who didn't remember her husband and he is
have an issue with that because she didn't remember him

(41:23):
and he would be feeding her, he did everything because
she had Alzheimer's and see what everything. But sometimes that
happened too, so you could get around those things, and
you know, it's good to kind of laugh at it,
you know, in a comical way. It's not as if
you were just dying or bleeding or nothing like that.
It's just that you just had to change and start

(41:45):
doing the right things that you know. So if you're
still courage enough to pick up new skills. Pick up
new skills. You know, they got AI now and they're
supposed to be able to teach seniors how to do
it in about a week or two, and you you
will be on your way and make it very simple
for you. So if you're not doing anything else, you know,

(42:05):
say study it all right, take that artificial intelligence. If
you don't a watercolor, I did get guitar. I have
a guitar. I play a guitar. I guess I could
say that I guest I played, but it's not professional.
I do play at I play for me. Yeah, you

(42:27):
probably wouldn't want it. You'd probably be tired of be
hearing be played because of nothing. Coding and simple. Get
your website, get that whole lot of stuff you can do,
you know, get your website and just pool around some people.
Get a website and get on that fool around and
start selling stuff. You know, you don't have to have
nothing to sell. You can sell other body, somebody else's stuff.
Be an affiliate and say sell this stuff. You know. So,

(42:50):
but the idea is to get your brain moving and
giving you your brain the novelty that it creates. Because
The brain likes to keep working. It likes to keep going.
And this is what you need. Keep choosing things that
you love to do and do to some of the
things you love to do, Like me, I love I
love to go golfing, I love bowling, I love walking,

(43:12):
I love riding my bicycle. I love moving. Because moving
is very important. Learn that. Think about it and think
about don't be against moving, keep moving, learning and keep
learning your skills. You just keep living, is what it is.
You know, it's the same thing. And we all need
to keep living. You need to keep living. I need
to keep living. We all need to do that now.

(43:35):
The next thing, number six is invest in friendships. It's
always good to have a friend. Like I said, I
just lost my dear friend a week ago. And even
though I have another other friends who are very dear
to me and I've seen them often, I'm very glad
because they helped me out a lot. Because then you

(43:57):
get older and you if you don't have no friend,
you're coming like a recluse. It is not good for you.
It can stretch you out, it can cause you different
problems for you. Just being lonely, if you want to
be lonely, you can be lonely, but then also you
need to have friends somewhere too, you know. So, like

(44:19):
I said, being by yourself is good, but don't overdo it,
because when you're by yourself, you think about things that
you didn't think about before, and some of the things
are very good. You'll be one. I'm thinking about this,
the thing you think about yourself that you never thought
about yourself before because you were so busy thinking about
everybody else and trying to get everything else to work.

(44:39):
So think about learning, learning new skills and developing friendships
is the next two things that just learn. And I
want to try to repeat them so you will remember them.
Investing in new friendship In fact, you know, it's nothing
long with having If you have a dear friend, you
can call up, you can talk, you can take a

(45:01):
walk with them. I go to the driving range. I'll
call my friends, go to the driving room. We go
and we talk and we have fun. So I have
a relationship with another human being, and I'm keeping that
going as well. So as your age. You don't want
to just I know some people are living in the
fifty five plus neighborhood. I know some people do not

(45:22):
get out and do not out enough, and so they're
they're they're not doing as good as they could be doing.
Every Friday and Saturday we have dancing for singings and
with places packed, they all come a lot of them
from and I'm glad they come in. And that's what
you should do. Getting you're in the dancing club. You know,
do little line dancing, do all kinds of dance. Just

(45:44):
do something to keep yourself going and moving and developing
friendship that keeps you happy. But then when I don't
need no more friend, yes you do. You didn't need
a friend that's kind of talk to you and tell
you something because they get you get a lot of
good information too. I get a lot of tips on things.
I learned some things that I probably wouldn't learn that
I wouldn't know. My brain is being active. I'm being

(46:06):
alert and I still remember it. See, because when you
stop using the brain and then you don't remember, I
don't remember this, I don't remember that. I don't remember.
You know, you remember everything. Your mind records everything and
it is there. You may not recall, but it is there.
You can remember it because five or ten minutes later

(46:29):
you'll remember what you thought you had forgotten, so it's there.
So if you're still prioritizing your time with your friends,
enjoy that. Like I said, go to lunch with them.
Me and my friends, I go, we go to lunch
and we have dinner, or we find some place else
that have something interesting. We'll go in. We do that
and do that. So you can do that too. Make

(46:49):
sure you get a friend. Make sure you keep yourself
talking to somebody. Make sure he keep you sick, active
on what to do and how to do it. Okay,
Number seven, manage stress instead of letting it manage you.
You don't want your stress to jump over and ruin
your life. Now. Like I said, when you're setting around,

(47:09):
you're not doing nothing. Your stress improved, it grows more
because you're not being improven. You're not doing things. You're
not doing the life that you live that you normally.
You've turned into a life that you should not be living.
So keep yourself moving. Remember the things I'm telling you here.
To follow those things and your life will get better.
I know you say, well I hurt, my back hurt.

(47:32):
That's how you get all that stuff. But we're working
about because you're moving, and when you're moving, you find
out the solutions. How to keep yourself going hard, to
keep your back going okay, keep a check up, keep
up with your checkup and your numbers. You know, we
all need to realize that we need to go and
get our physical at least once a year. Get your physical.

(47:54):
Some people get their physical more than a year, but
you need to get yours at least once a year.
You know. Now, I'm not necessarily a doctor of medicine.
I am a doctor of metaphysics, and I understand that well.
I could tell you that doing the right things, thinking

(48:15):
the right things can make your life really wonderful and
you can enjoy your life like you're supposed to be
even though you're over fifty. Just because you're over fifty,
on me, you and the dumps. You need to do
everything you've ever done, even your sex. Your life should
be active eve when you're over fifty, because that helps
you delve a longer life. That's where you get your

(48:35):
longevity from, by keeping up certain habits that you have before.
So I don't know what you're doing what you don't do,
but I can tell you the things that you should
do and that you knew you need to do in
order to keep yourself living and being happy. So if
you're over fifty and you're still moving deally, you're still
lifting things, you're protecting your sleep, you're eating rights, you

(48:58):
planting these all things I told you about. You're learning
new skills, you're investing in the friendships, you're managing your stress,
and you're staying on top of everything in your life
your age and better than most people are. They're ever engaged.
So make sure you do that and none of this
flashy stuff. Just keep going. Turn your life into something
that you could be proud of. You living every day

(49:20):
in every life, I do it every day. That's why
I'm doing this show to try to tell you how
you can do it as well. This is Grand Pall.
I'm every week with this show at nine o'clock on Saturday.
I'll tell you all the good things you need to know.
I just told you a lot of good things you
need to know now how to be happy and how
to enjoy the life that you live it, because that's
important to enjoy it, have fun. I don't care what

(49:43):
they're doing in the world. You are living. You're living
in your mind. Do what you have to do and
keep yourself going. I love you, I love everybody. I
love everybody, And thou shalt not kill. Remember that we
ain't supposed to be killing each other. Do some of
the things that Grandpa tell you to do. Life will
be wonderful. Take care, See you next week.
