Speaker 1 (00:24):
Hello, everybody, Welcome. It's a special edition of Less Talk Broncos.
I haven't been here that much this offseason, but we
are in full draft mode right now. I'm in full
draft mode. My brain is just constantly thinking draft. And
lucky enough for me, I got buddies who are at
the Senior Bowl right now, Frankie Abbott and Jacob Romano
(00:45):
of Let's Talk Broncos.
Speaker 2 (00:46):
They're in mobile as we speak.
Speaker 1 (00:48):
They're gonna be on Twitter reporting live from the Senior Bowl.
I'm sure they're gonna do some other content as well.
I want everyone who's listening to this to go follow
them on Twitter because it's content you're not gonna want
to miss out on. So Frankie will start off with you,
how are you doing, my man?
Speaker 3 (01:04):
I'm doing fantastic. Absolutely.
Speaker 4 (01:06):
I can't fucking wait for the practices tomorrow. It's like
I've been thinking about it so much. I can't wait
to see some guys that really get to hit each
other a little bit. Even though there's not that much contact.
You know, there's gonna be one player of his Oh shit,
that guy actually got a little bit of a smack
on somebody. I want to see some pass rush drills.
I want to see a spin move that embarrasses an
offensive tackle. I want to see the goofiest route I
can even think of where the receiver's doing this, and
(01:27):
then this they throws a real twhirl in there, and
then he takes the field and catches the ball and
everybody's like, that guy's going first fucking round.
Speaker 1 (01:33):
So I'm doing fantastic, Joey, Dude, It's it's exciting times.
Speaker 2 (01:37):
It's exciting times.
Speaker 1 (01:37):
I know, like a film junkie, true football enthusiast like
Frankie Abbott is going to have a blast watching these
practices because neither of these guys have been the Broncos
training can't practices either, so this is.
Speaker 2 (01:49):
Like gonna be sick. I can't wait for you guys. Jacob,
how are you doing?
Speaker 3 (01:54):
Man?
Speaker 5 (01:55):
I'm doing well man, Like you said, like, we're both
not even from Colorado, so we haven't even seen this
kind of stuff before. Uh, It's been great coming in here.
Speaker 2 (02:02):
Man.
Speaker 5 (02:02):
It's like the cutest like small town I think I've
ever seen in my life, and it's surrounded by NFL
people right now, like literally left and right. At every
single restaurant or story, You're in You're meeting new people,
and yeah, man, I just can't get I'm so excited
for the practices tomorrow and just especially I just see
like the one on ones between the receivers the dbs
versus the linebackers or the tight end's gonna block the
(02:23):
linemen like they're gonna have to play a lot of
different positions because there isn't a lot of true guards
and centers in the draft. In the Senior Bowl rosses
this year, and some of the guys who are not
able to practice anymore, a lot of them had to
bail last minute, and so we're at you guys step
up in their in their spots and perform well. So
I'm really excited. Man, there's a lot to look forward
to tomorrow.
Speaker 1 (02:43):
Dude, with all these guys dropping out, I'd love for
them to just give us a Quinn Minors ask, dude,
give me somebody from Colorado Spring State Penitentiary, Like, give
me something crazy.
Speaker 2 (02:56):
I want something wild. Give me like five of them
to come in and replace them, guys, I want.
Speaker 1 (03:01):
I want just the most obscure colleges we've never heard
of in our lives at the Senior bullet Give me
something to look at. And then it is also Frankie
Abbitt's birthday. Let's go everyone wish Frankie abbit a birthday.
Is super cool for him to be out in mobile.
This is all going down we're doing. He does watching football, man,
this is sick doing draft stuff. I did a draft
(03:23):
show with Frankie forever and.
Speaker 4 (03:26):
It's been such a long time, jolly like we we've
been doing this for at this point.
Speaker 2 (03:31):
Yep.
Speaker 1 (03:31):
Yeah, Well Jacob already answered this question, and I want
to throw it to Frankie as well. What drill are
you most excited to see at the Senior Bowl. What
are you going to be paying attention to, like when
this drill is on? Oh, I'm walking to that side
to go see what's happening over there.
Speaker 4 (03:48):
I want to see run game drills with the interior
offensive line membersus some of these interior defensive linemen, because
there are just some massive fucking guys playing at the
interior defensive line this year. You've got as Walker who's
even measured in at like six seven, three hundred and
forty pounds to day. Yeah, Yah Black who's a guy
from Iowa who he's like another guy who's like sixty five,
(04:09):
three hundred and forty five pounds, plays with a little
bit of high pad level, but like just another massive
human being. And as Jacob pointed out, a lot of
these guys are gonna be getting moved around a little bit.
I think we're gonna see a lot of the guys
from this tackle group.
Speaker 2 (04:20):
You know.
Speaker 4 (04:20):
Uh, there's the Arizona attack. I think it's Jonah. I'm
not gonna try to say his last name, JAA sevenia
Emery Jones. Even though he measured in with some longer arms,
he's been a guy that's been talked about a lot
around the draft community about he's gonna have to.
Speaker 3 (04:32):
Probably move inside. He struggles a lot with blank on
the exterior. So excuse me.
Speaker 4 (04:37):
I'm excited to see how a lot of those guys
match up, because again, you just have some real Walter
Nolan's even a guy even though actually he just dropped out.
Speaker 3 (04:43):
I just remember that, right.
Speaker 5 (04:44):
No, he's coming back.
Speaker 3 (04:45):
He's back on the roster. All right, this is great.
This is fantastic.
Speaker 4 (04:47):
I definite alive person that can So he's back on
the roster and he's a guy that like I don't
this is this is way too hype of the comp
This isn't at all what I'm trying to say that
this guy is, but I'm gonna juice him up right here.
This guy, Aaron Donald, his game straight up. He's one
of a little bit smaller guys. He's probably around I
think he measured like two eighty seven, two ninety to day.
But the way this guy handles like both double teams,
(05:09):
the way he's able to kind of attack gaps, his
ability to get skinny in between blockers, and just like
he's a force in the run games, a force in
the pass game. He's a guy I truly view as
like a top fifteen, top twenty potential pick, and I
think he has the chance to be able to just
like solidify that right here this week.
Speaker 5 (05:26):
Yeah, he's one of the more like high upside guys
that actually has like the production and pass rush moves to.
Speaker 3 (05:31):
Makeup for it. He's young too, He's only twenty one.
Speaker 5 (05:34):
And going piggybacking off of his original point. Right, there's
in the in the interior offensive line. In this group,
there's gonna be a lot of malers like Emery. He's
a powerful He's a powerful blocker.
Speaker 2 (05:44):
J C.
Speaker 5 (05:44):
Davis from Illinois, very very downhill, big bodied guy. So
like there's gonna be a lot of these bigger offensive
linemen going against these more two ninety to three hundred
pounds defensive tackles, so it could actually end up being
really even.
Speaker 1 (06:00):
I that's that is exciting. I love the trench play.
I love that type of stuff. I know Walter Nolan.
Fun fact on Walter Nolan was out of high school
second to only Travis Hunter as a recruit that class.
Speaker 3 (06:13):
So he's the Joey diamonds that are getting.
Speaker 1 (06:19):
Second to only Travis Hunter in that was the transfer
this last year, got paid a ton to go where
he was to Ole, Miss So that is definitely an athletic.
Like when you when you see those stars, those high
school stars, you're usually betting, oh, this guy has.
Speaker 2 (06:34):
The natural ability.
Speaker 1 (06:36):
And then now that we're talking about Walter Nolan as
a first round.
Speaker 2 (06:39):
Pick, it's like he's developed with that.
Speaker 1 (06:41):
That type of stuff is attractive and I would be
all over that too.
Speaker 3 (06:46):
Yeah, we're lagging a little bit. What did you say,
we're having some issues.
Speaker 2 (06:49):
On No, you guys are all good. I get it.
I was in the same boat as you guys. Record
recording out of the hotel. I get it. Oh good.
Speaker 1 (06:58):
Here here's here's a question I have for you guys.
The Broncos do have a coach there at the Senior Bowl.
It's Fabian Upshaw. He's an offensive quality control coach and
I from what I understand, he's worked a little bit
with the running backs out in Denver. He's coaching the
national team at the Senior Bowl. They're running backs. Is
there anybody part of that national roster? It being a
(07:19):
big position of need that I should highlight.
Speaker 5 (07:24):
So my guy right away is going to be Damian Martinez,
and I think I'm going to end up being a
little higher on him, maybe than consensus, just because he
isn't going to be your super explosive home run hitter.
But he is really well built for his size. I
think he's like five to eleven, two hundred and twenty
six pounds. He plays with just really good power and
contact balance. He has great vision, but he also has
(07:46):
some more balanced, you know, nuances to his game too.
He can pass protect, he can catch out of the backfield.
There's development there. He can run decent routes. I just
I think there's creativity in his game too. For a
bigger back, like he can kind of make a guy
miss every now and then, which I think is rare
for his skill set. So he's one of the few
guys that I'm looking at on this list that I
can see a three down like starter role for in
(08:09):
this league. Maybe not like being the guy like Morris
part of a committee, but he can be a darn
good player in your rotation.
Speaker 2 (08:15):
That's exciting. Yeah, I look at his like weight and
just his stature.
Speaker 1 (08:19):
And I mean, I don't you never want to judge
a book by its cover, But some of these other
dudes you look at and you're like, Okay, you're probably
not never downe back.
Speaker 5 (08:26):
I will admit I fully went into his film with
that in mind, Like I was like, okay, this guy,
and then I did And so you know, sometimes those
are the ones that really catch you off guard. And
so that's why it's important to get a look at everybody.
Speaker 1 (08:40):
Yeah, and two hundred and twenty six pounds from what
I understand, that's less than what he weighed in the season,
even being a bigger back at playing playing weight, coming
in a little lighter, that's probably good for him. That's
when you see stuff like that that's because scouts are wondering, like, hey,
that's probably not a good wait for you, So it'll
be interesting to see how he performs there. How about you,
Frank you, who do you have there at the running
(09:01):
back position?
Speaker 4 (09:01):
So I actually think like, and this might not sound
super fun, but there are a lot of guys that
I think would be Day three options that could end
up being really good receiving talents on his team. And
anyone who's listened to me and Robbie or honestly really
anyone who talks about the Broncos, they do not have
good receiving options in really the tight end running back
room right now.
Speaker 3 (09:18):
I mean they had guys like Javonte was really good.
Speaker 4 (09:21):
In the past in past protection, but yeah, not a
guy you can rely on to run a.
Speaker 3 (09:24):
Really expanded route treat either's Julie McLaughlin.
Speaker 4 (09:27):
They don't have a lot of guys that can really,
I don't know again, run a lot of these expanded
routes that are a huge part of the Sean Payton offense.
I mean, you just need to be able to have
guys that can run option rounds out of the backfield,
that can run these angle routes. You know that can
just really do a lot more in this room that
we've got right here. Laquin Allen is a guy out
of I think he's from serious.
Speaker 3 (09:44):
Yea, he's from serious.
Speaker 4 (09:45):
He's he's a converted receiver and I think the past
like three seasons he's at at least like fifty catches.
He's kind of the tyrone Tracy of this year's Gats.
I don't want to call him that because you know,
but that's kind of the I where if you can
see a guy that again when you watch his stuff,
very natural out of the backfield, very natural pass catcher,
not the most explosive guy. Again, you're probably wanting to
see if you can have some three down value, but
that might not be there. But again, you're getting a
(10:07):
really close look at him with a guy that's on
the Broncos staff, and he's gonna know exactly what Sean
Payton wants.
Speaker 3 (10:12):
To add to that room. And I know that that
is a guy that can run some damn routes and
catch the football.
Speaker 4 (10:17):
So having a guy like that and I'm gonna chew
a lib, I'm gonna say some ext you guys, what
he mars is also another good option for that. He
was a really good pass catching back out of the USC.
That's kind of a little bit all he did. Donovan
Edwards too, kind of that for Michigan and then sadly
Scatabo won't be there. He was the guy that I
thought was really interesting to get to see because man,
like he's kind of flirting with it teams, like being
like a top fifty, top seventy five pick.
Speaker 3 (10:36):
But then there are other guys that aren't sold on
so and.
Speaker 5 (10:39):
He's surprisingly polished as a receiver too, Like he's another
one you go into the judging by judging it by
its cover, and he's actually like running like Texas routes.
Speaker 4 (10:47):
And he's a very natural pass catch too, Like he
uses his hands very well, and I mean that's something
that this team desperately needs as far.
Speaker 5 (10:52):
As Yeah, so like for people watching, like that's why
people are so high on this running back class. It
isn't just that a bet that they're all purely eight talents.
It's that they have a lot of tools in their
toolkit and can they attack defenses in different ways. So
the Broncos they have to come out of this group,
out of this draft with one of these guys.
Speaker 1 (11:11):
I agree, and I think Sean Payton and George Payton,
their history would tell us that they're not afraid to
attack that position, whether it be in the first round
or seventh rounds.
Speaker 2 (11:19):
Throughout the entire draft, I.
Speaker 1 (11:21):
Could see the Broncos, Oh, this next pick might be
their running back. So yeah, I even if they double
dip there at running back, I could see the Broncos
go second round with the running back, or even first
round with the running back and say, hey, we're doubling
back up on it now in the fourth or fifth
or sixth or whatever.
Speaker 2 (11:37):
I could see that go ahead.
Speaker 4 (11:40):
It's almost something that you wonder, like, again, we've all
talked about there are a lot of running backs this year,
and yes, some are gonna get pushed down the board inevitably.
So some of these guys were talking about, like this
could be a fun option on Day three. There's probably
gonna be one or two that slip to UDFA. As
crazy as that might sound, you know, some of these
guys that are here at the Senior Bowl that again,
any of the year, they're probably a six to fifth
(12:01):
round pick. There's just too many good backs this year.
You know, if you're a guy that made guy that
maybe that maybe has bet, maybe has been. You're a
guy that's kind of again showed a little bit of
grimaces in his final year, a little bit more red flags,
but you still have a lot of upside. There's a
chance you'll find your way on a roster as a UDFA,
and then teams are gonna find so many diamonds in
the rough and Denver throughout the past few years, I
(12:22):
mean honestly throughout the entirety, they have been incredible of
finding those undrafted free agents. So I think there's a
good opportunity. Again, I would agree. I hope they double dip.
You're probably gonna see a UDFA back Like I think
Sean Payton's gonna go into training camp with like eight
running back Like you remember that year where the Bears
brought like twelve tight ends into.
Speaker 3 (12:38):
Their Yeah, that is what I want Sean pay to
do with this running back room.
Speaker 4 (12:42):
Literally, like figure out who the best four of four
guys is and then shove two of them on the
practice squad and let's roll.
Speaker 2 (12:49):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (12:49):
I think that's a great call. You said that like
a dude that had a phenomenal showed up. It had
a bad season this year, but a great season the
year before. Is Ali Gordon, who's also on this. That's
a guy that had a seventeen hundred yard season before
this last year and then it went down to eight hundred. Okay,
so Oklahoma State kind of sucked this year, Like how
(13:11):
much does all of this equate? The Senior Bowl is
a great opportunity to see him in a different situation
than just Oklahoma State.
Speaker 2 (13:19):
This last year.
Speaker 1 (13:20):
He'll be an guy interesting. There are so many good
running backs like you guys both mentioned. But you know
what else is a great position in this draft.
Speaker 2 (13:29):
It's tight end.
Speaker 1 (13:30):
Tight End feels very like, it feels deep, it feels
like we're top heavy there. It's a good position in
this draft. I feel lucky going into this as a
Broncos fan saying, oh, we need both of those, and
I think there's good ones in here. Is there anybody
Jacob will throw it to you first on this one
just at the Senior Bowl generally doesn't have to be
(13:51):
on any certain squad who you have your eye on.
Speaker 5 (13:55):
Yeah, so I'm going to give you two names right
off the bet and for anybody that checked out my
offensive position group for the Senior Bowl first of all,
shout out to you.
Speaker 1 (14:05):
Check that out.
Speaker 2 (14:05):
They'll read check that out.
Speaker 1 (14:07):
Yes.
Speaker 5 (14:08):
But the two names, because unfortunately the third name was
gunner Helm, but he dropped out today. So the two
names I'm going to give are Mason Taylor and Elijah
or Royle. So Mason Taylor, he is the most balanced,
I think, overall just tight end in this draft. And
that's saying it. With gunner Helm, well, I'm also very
high on but I think Mason Taylor gives you the
(14:28):
highest floor as a blocker. You know, he just has
really good anchorability and he really gets his hands under
his pads and just he knows how to seal that edge.
I was really impressed with him as an inline blocker.
And there's a lot of athleticism in there too, Like
he can run, he can go downfield, he can make
tough catches. It's just that LSU didn't really give him
a very diverse route tree. A lot of it was
kind of you know, dump off to the flats or
(14:50):
like a curl or something like that. So I think
that's a question that he has to answer here this
week is can he run more of a diverse route
tree and then Elijah or Royal Man. He is like
anybody who loves to watch like college highlights and stuff
like that, Like he is a highlight real level player
because I believe he's six foot five, two hundred and
forty five pounds. He actually weighed in at two fifty,
(15:10):
so he gained some weight for the senior Bolver's and
he just moves incredibly well for his size, extremely fluid.
He can be a seam threat. He can be a
threat on screens. You know, he has more of a
short area of quickness I think for a two hundred
and fifty pounds head end that I've seen in a while.
So aside from like you know, the brock Bauers types,
(15:31):
and so I think he's a really fun, like high
upside option. The issue is going to be the inline
blocking game. It's just not like his overall game. But
he can do it and he has like the effort.
Speaker 2 (15:44):
To do it.
Speaker 5 (15:44):
He kind of plays a little bit of an edge
and he's he's a high effort player. So I think
there's a ton of wepside with a Royal and even
though it isn't probably like what the Broncos need in
that room, Like I would just take him in the
second round and or second or third round and feel
pretty dang happy about it.
Speaker 2 (15:58):
That's awesome.
Speaker 1 (15:59):
Yeah, I think the Broncos could use both. The movie
could use both the move tight end and an inline
tight end.
Speaker 5 (16:07):
Am I good?
Speaker 2 (16:10):
Am I good? Am I good?
Speaker 5 (16:13):
Are we good?
Speaker 2 (16:14):
Yeah? You guys are good. You guys are good. Don't
worry about it.
Speaker 1 (16:18):
The I think the Broncos could use both an inline
and a move tight end. I just think that entire
tight end room could be used. So again, I think
a lot like running back position. Like the running back position,
they could go multiple skill sets here. I don't think
there's just one that I'm pinpointing. Any of these type
of tight ends could be an option for the Broncos.
(16:39):
I think that inline probably is a little more important
for this team, but I could still see them use
that move tight end. Frankie, who is uh who is
a tight end in this senior bull thing that you
you wanna you wanna highlight.
Speaker 4 (16:53):
I'm gonna give you one of each of what you
just said, So a move tight end. I think Dake
brining Stool kind of has a little bit of that potential.
He was used is kind of that stand up tight
end that was split out a little bit. He was
basically a power slot for Clemson this season. Cool again
player that I wasn't overly impressed with, but again with
the opportunity have mobile to show what you can actually
do in some one on one opportunity to see you
can create some separation, like that's a big chance for him.
(17:14):
And then the other guy I talk about for an
inline guy is Maliki Mataveo. He's actually from UCLA that
measured I mean, he was the guy all year that
I was kind of like, I mean, this guy just
has a professional build and that's I mean, you know,
so much of the battle already. He's the guy that
measured in around I think it was like either six
five and a half or six six. He's already two
hundred and fifty five or two hundred and sixty pounds. Like,
(17:35):
this guy can be your in line option. Obviously, it's
a question of what he can actually do outside of
just you know, getting downhill and blocking on guys. But
from what I've heard and a little bit of reports,
I haven't really gotten to dive too much into what
he actually has their own route runner, but apparently he
has a little bit of wiggle at the top of
his stuff. So if he could end up being an
option for Denver on like a Day three in line
developmental pick for them, I think that could be a
(17:55):
good one.
Speaker 5 (17:56):
I feel like a fake fan for not even bringing
him up, So thanks for that.
Speaker 2 (18:00):
I love it.
Speaker 1 (18:01):
I mean, hey, it's cool that you guys were even
able to highlight four tight ends that you're super excited about,
because I feel like in a lot of these draft
classes there's not that many tight ends, Like in my
last Senior Bowl. When I went last time, I was like, okay, like, yeah,
most of these guys are.
Speaker 2 (18:17):
We just need bodies out here at the position. That's
that's really what it is.
Speaker 1 (18:21):
Whereas you guys get to go down there and see
some actual players that we're all interested in at a
position to need for the.
Speaker 2 (18:27):
Broncos another position.
Speaker 1 (18:29):
I want to throw at you, guys. I'm just going
down positions. I could see the Broncos draft in this,
especially with Hey, DJ Jones, we don't know what his
future is like in a Broncos uniform. That could open
up like an interior defensive line spot and a need
for the Broncos. That's also a good class from what
I've heard, I haven't dug deep into the interior defensive
(18:51):
line class yet, but Franky, give me a name there.
I just want to name is also by the way
field pressure, because it's the next guy I'm watching. Phil.
Speaker 4 (19:02):
I'm gonna go with Ty Robinson because again, you just
you mentioned DJ Jones.
Speaker 3 (19:06):
This is a guy that can kind of be your
DJ Jones replacement.
Speaker 4 (19:09):
I have another guy that I like as a DJ
Jones replacement, but I have a feeling that to Jacob's
gonna go with it, so I'm gonna leave him for Jacob.
But this guy pretty much does this does a little
bit of similar stuff, but I think does have a
maybe a little bit more juice as far as his
first step goes, and a little bit more explosiveness as
far as the pass rusher goes, but maybe a bit
less as a run defender. But yeah, I think Ty
Robinson from Nebraska would be a really solid option that like, again,
(19:29):
I don't think as far as like you can spend
a high pick on like the Deane Walkers and the
Tayleka Williams and you know you'll have a true like
first round.
Speaker 3 (19:37):
This will be a pedigree player that we can start
rotating in. But as far as what they need guy, they.
Speaker 4 (19:44):
Already have JFM, Zach Gallen, and Roach, who all showed
that they can get after the quarterback. I don't think again,
you always want more defensive lineman that can do that.
But I think if at the end of the day
they end up deciding, hey, we can just add a
guy that ends up being a really good two gapping,
you know, defensive line and who's just impossible to move
out of his spot, you're.
Speaker 3 (20:03):
Good to go.
Speaker 4 (20:03):
And I think that they can find that on day
three without having to be like something crazy pick and yeah,
I think Ty Robinson would be exactly that.
Speaker 2 (20:10):
Yeah, Nebraska kid, right, Frankie. I don't know if I
can do a corner Husker. I don't know if I
could do a corner Husker one. And then I don't
know if I could see Cameron Parker happy too. I
don't know if I can do it. We might have
to run. I'm obviously joking. I watched him too.
Speaker 1 (20:27):
He is a good player, and I think he's one
that would make a lot of sense for the Broncos. Fricky,
great call out, Jacob, Who do you have for that?
Speaker 3 (20:35):
Uh?
Speaker 5 (20:36):
Yeah, So Frankie graciously left this player for me to
talk about because I love him so much. But it's
Jammery Caldwell from Oregon, and he kind of gets overshadowed,
you know, because he does share a defensive line with
who's the first round his name.
Speaker 2 (20:49):
It's uh, oh my gosh, how am I blanking to
it too?
Speaker 5 (20:53):
It's the guy?
Speaker 4 (20:54):
Uh they all tuned out?
Speaker 5 (20:58):
Okay. Anyways, he asked he has to share the D
line with this first round talent who will remain nameless.
He's three hundred and forty pounds. He's your true prototypical
nose tackle, which, like you guys said, that's more of
what the Broncos need. They really do, just need somebody
that can kind of you know, take on double teams,
close lanes, have gap discipline, and just stop the run.
(21:19):
You know, because for as good as DJ Jones and
and you know the rest of the defensive linement have
done in with that this year, there's they're all small,
Like DJ was the biggest one at three hundred pounds.
So if you're adding a true like three hundred and
forty pound guy in there, and Caldwell, who can really
just you know, add some add a different type of
skill set to that defensive line, then that would be said.
(21:41):
And the good news is he's not going to be
crazy high like you can get him in the third,
fourth round, so you know you can go after your
other position groups first. Another guy that I really like
in this class is Alfred Collins. You know, he's Birch choice.
Speaker 2 (21:58):
It was Harmon, right, yes, Chad Birch.
Speaker 3 (22:03):
I couldn't think of Harmon.
Speaker 5 (22:04):
That's wrong too, It's not even.
Speaker 2 (22:08):
Harmon.
Speaker 5 (22:09):
Okay, most of the two, trust me. We know what
we're talking about. Guys. It's just you know, the brain
farts can be a little much.
Speaker 4 (22:18):
Uh So.
Speaker 5 (22:18):
The other guy I like is Alfred Collins. You know,
I do think watching him he disappointing me a little
bit as a pass rusher. Sometimes he ran with kind
of a high pad level. But he's another just large
human being six foot five to three and twenty pounds
that can just pick on double teams. You know, he's
really good with his hands like he can he can
he can kind of use his length to deconstruct blocks
(22:39):
in the run game. So he's another like kind of
developmental guy in like round two or three that I
would definitely be interested in.
Speaker 4 (22:45):
I will say, just real quick, it's gonna be interesting
to see how Vance kind of deals with that this year,
because I mean, we all watched him get not get
rid of. But like Mike Brissell is the guy that
it seemed like was the known true nose on this team,
it seems like we have kind of established Hey, DJ
Jones can play as that slanted nose, but you kind
of either have him play as more on the outside
or not on the outside.
Speaker 3 (23:02):
Like you know, he'd rather play as like that three
to two, Yeah, exactly where it. I am curious.
Speaker 4 (23:09):
Like again, we can talk about all these guys who
weigh three thirty plus, but there's the chance that Vance
Joseph is just like those guys have no place on
my defense because as we all know, Vance Joseph loves tweeners.
Speaker 3 (23:19):
He loves the guys that like.
Speaker 4 (23:20):
He can put into a very niche role and that
that sounds bad as I'm saying it, but like again,
he knows how to make it work. So it might
just be a world where he's like, I don't want
a three hundred and thirty plus pound guy that I
can only play twelve snaps a game. And he can
only do one thing for me. That's not really how
Vance is at any position. So as much as you know,
I think a lot of the hype is gonna be
Oh man, they could get a Dan Walker, they could
(23:41):
get you know, one of these other guys, a guy
that maybe ends up being like a three fifteen guy
like Tyler Williams might make.
Speaker 3 (23:48):
A lot more sense for Advance.
Speaker 5 (23:49):
True, you're right.
Speaker 1 (23:50):
That's a great point, Frankie, and one that I don't
know if I've really thought about.
Speaker 2 (23:54):
That's super solid.
Speaker 1 (23:57):
Yeah, man, I was gonna when you were talking about Vance, Joef,
I was like, is there any linebacker safety hybrids I
have to worry about at the draft?
Speaker 2 (24:06):
But thank god, thank god, thank god.
Speaker 5 (24:11):
All Right, the.
Speaker 1 (24:12):
Drill that I think gets the most publicity, Like when
you're looking at drills from the Senior Bowl and you're
looking at clips, guys are posting this all the time,
and this is what we're seeing. I think it's the
one on ones wide receiver cornerbacks, right, And it really
starts to at least in the draft community, whether it's
whether it's good reasoned or not, those guys start flying
(24:35):
up people's rankings.
Speaker 2 (24:38):
Is there a guy here at the Senior Bowl that
I should be thinking.
Speaker 1 (24:42):
Okay, this is the one on one demon here, this
is the guy that's gonna get the million impressions on Twitter.
Speaker 4 (24:49):
So I'll go first here. One guy I wrote down
that I think, and this is going I don't. I'm
not in love with this player entirely, but exactly what
I wrote about him. This is a player with insane
dribble moves that cannot finish a layup. His name is
to Kwan Felton. He's out of Virginia Tech. I think
this guy's gonna snap some ankles. If he brings in
the passes, he's gonna get the praise. If he drops
(25:10):
the passes, he's not gonna get the praise. But that
would be my pick. I think he is just such
a fun player to get to see before he gets
actually having to face a lot of these guys in
press coverage. But on the other side too, I want
to point out there are kind of some demon pressed
guys out here. Isaiah Isaiah Thomas, Yes, I looked at
him for just out of Florida State.
Speaker 1 (25:33):
That guy.
Speaker 4 (25:33):
I mean, anyway, I love me some scrappy corners. I
love me a guy that's willing to go out there
and just punch whoever in the face. He knows the
Matt carabout who's matching up against. He is one of
those guys, so I think he has the opportunity. Like, yeah,
he might get beaten on a reper to him. People
will post those, but I think he's probably likely to
have one of those corner reps. Everybody's like, oh, Isaiah
Thomas locked this guy up, and then there will be
(25:55):
three people in the replies being like that's a defensive holding,
and it's like each shit, that was a cool play.
Speaker 2 (26:00):
Yeah, I love hearing that. I love some press, some
press guys out there too. Jake, what do you have
going on?
Speaker 5 (26:08):
I'm gonna go with the next Travis Kelce had Harold
Fannon Jr. No, I'm just playing. I'm consensus. So that
was a joke. My actual answer is an underrated name
that I have not seen a lot of buzz on lately.
I put a couple of you guys on him, Kyle
(26:28):
Williams from Washington State, so to me, as soon as
I turn on the tape, I just saw Darius Slayton
from New York, and you know, like that's it's not
like that's necessarily like the most high profile guy in
the world. But he's a really solid wide receiver too.
In this league, he was a good rout runner. And
right away it's Kyle Walliams is just such a smooth
athlete with great acceleration, great long speed, and he can
(26:50):
separate really well, and he's got really good like short
area of quickness. He's shifty after the catch, and so
I think in these kinds of drills where if you
have him on the goal line running like a whip
route to the outside or whatever zig route, he's just
gonna make guys look silly. You might have some people
being like, oh, he's a first round er. Now, I
don't know if I would necessarily say that, but he's
(27:11):
a guy that specifically for the Broncos because they need
a man coverage beater. I would be very interested in
him round three or four.
Speaker 1 (27:17):
All right, guys, well you heard it here, man, Like
these are the guys you're probably gonna see a trillion
clips of through the draft process.
Speaker 2 (27:24):
It happens every single year.
Speaker 1 (27:26):
Van Jefferson was the first guy that comes to my
mind all the time when I think a Senior Bowl
one on ones.
Speaker 2 (27:31):
He lit them up, will never die?
Speaker 1 (27:36):
Yeah, yeah, or hey Jerry Judy and training camp, Oh
my god, on ones you couldn't even imagine, like everybody
was getting sat up the.
Speaker 5 (27:45):
Summer highlight videos of him going through like the cones.
Speaker 1 (27:51):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (27:54):
The other guy I want to mention to real quick,
just because he's obviously gonna get Tess Johnson is here, right, yes, okay,
Ted Johnson is gonna get a lot of clips posted
around the Broncos nation, which is fine. You know, he's
what he is as a player. He weighed one hundred
and fifty six pounds stick, which is insane. He was
I think I saw tweet he would be the third
lightest player drafted.
Speaker 3 (28:14):
In a long long time. So again, I know everybody,
Oh he's Bonix, his brother. It'll be very interesting to see.
Speaker 4 (28:19):
Again, a lot of people are gonna be like, hey,
there are some receivers in the league right now that
can consider that can survive at that frame, at that
body type. And what I'd say is a lot of
those guys, like again to Tank Dell, who's another guy
I absolutely love, who again is unguardable one on one
is a ridiculous deep threat, but and again, this isn't
me trying to like beat up on Tank Dell. I
think we've also seen sadly the downside of having a
(28:42):
small player with some of the serious injuries. There is
genuine concern, especially when you talk about like this is
the guy that's gonna be on the Sean Payton offense
unless he's playing you know, ten snaps a game which
everyone will lose their mind about. He's gonna have to
get physical on the football field. He is going to
have to block somebody at some point. And I'm not
saying he doesn't have the effort to do so, but
there was legitimate risk involved when you're talking about one
(29:04):
hundred and fifty six pounds player, so and simmon trying
to overly beat up on him. But he has a
huge opportunity where if he can go out in these
one on ones and show hey, I'm as unguardable as
Tank Dell was a couple of years ago. Hey, if
you put me in man coverage, and even if you
put a guy that's pressing up on me, I'm going
to create at least three yards of separation, I'm gonna
hands catch. Because that's a big concern of mine as well,
like he has a lot of issues. Like again, a
(29:25):
guy like Devonte Smith is really good at catching outside
of his frame and using his hands and even making
it above the rim catches. As surprising as that sounds
for a guy that's undersize, that's just not really what
we've seen a lot of Tedes Johnson doing.
Speaker 3 (29:37):
So I'm very curious to see if he can kind
of show something else. At the Senior Bowl.
Speaker 1 (29:40):
The only guy I can think of that would be
similar in weight to him and what I also was
in an atmosphere like the Senior Bowl was two two
at well when he came in. That was the initial
thought I had when I saw Tes.
Speaker 2 (29:56):
It's just really hard, like as.
Speaker 1 (29:58):
We even see with him, it's just hard for me
to believe that you'll be anything but a niche player.
And then even at niche, I'm questioning. I'm wondering. I
don't think you can play every down in the NFL
or every every type of down, even in the NFL
when you're one hundred and fifty whatever pounds.
Speaker 2 (30:18):
It's a physical sport.
Speaker 1 (30:20):
Grown ass men are out there. We saw what is
the guy's name, Dion Walker, the Kansas kid. That guy
came in at six foot seven, like three hundred and
fifty pounds. Like, these guys are ridiculous. It's the monstars.
Once you get to the NFL, one hundred and fifty pounds.
Speaker 5 (30:38):
More than twice Walker or twice and it cray a
lot of guys in the football field are gonna be
able to twice Johnson plav What did you want to him?
Speaker 3 (30:48):
Oh?
Speaker 5 (30:48):
Yeah, I wanted to say. I think I went over.
I skipped over a really easy name for this question, Joey. Yeah,
with strep Bo from Miami. He's kind of just Yeah,
he's kind of just your prototypical slide receiver. He's gonna
run really good routes. He's gonna separate well, he's gonna
be really quick. So I'm not like, I don't think
that the Broncos necessarily need someone with his skill type
(31:09):
skill set, but for the purpose of just the Senior
Bowl and making people look silly on on the ones,
he's probably gonna have some highlight routes as well.
Speaker 4 (31:16):
Yeah, I think a word you put quick is so
important with him too, because he's not the most explosive player.
But again, he knows that a temple is routes so well.
He knows how to kind of use his speed, and
like you said, he's so fast in and out of
those cuts.
Speaker 3 (31:26):
That I completely agree. I think he's gonna be a
dangerous weapon.
Speaker 1 (31:29):
Well, guys, I don't want to hold you for too long.
I feel like you guys have a lot to get
too down there in Mobile. They're gonna network, They're going
to talk to other media. People are gonna share their thoughts,
maybe even get some insights. I think that happens a
lot at the Senior Bowl.
Speaker 2 (31:43):
That happens. It does one guy.
Speaker 1 (31:45):
Here something is telling you spreads. Frankie and Jacob might
come back as insiders. We don't know here at Let's
talk Broncos. Yeah. So I'm just really excited for you
guys to be there. One thing I want the fans
to know. When I went last year, I saw a
guy by the name of Quinon Mitchell dominate every single practice,
(32:07):
very clearly, be the best defensive player on the field
every single day I was there. Now we're seeing him
dominate in the NFL. This is the type of stuff
they're going to be able to see at the Senior Bowl.
Jacob and Frankie are going to be covering it thoroughly.
I went with one and pair of eyes. They have
two pairs of eyes, and they're gonna be able to
compare and contrast notes at the end of the day,
a lot of stuff like that, so make sure you
(32:28):
guys are following them.
Speaker 2 (32:30):
Yeah, until next time, don
