I am your radio Apostle. Apostle John E. Ross, moderator
and host of this podcast and founder of Omega International
Prophetic Ministries. Many thanks to you for tuning in for
season ten, the Season of Divine Order and the Let's
Talk to the Lord gospel radio talk show and Kingdom.
(11:44):
Our guest for season ten of Let's Talk to the
Lord is artist, songwriter and worship director Malik Oliver, Kingdom.
Malik Oliver is a gospel singer raised in a home
where faith and church were the central focus. Kingdom. Malik's
music influences are the late James Main Moore, Kirk Franklin,
(12:09):
Yolanda Adams, and the late Aretha Franklin. Kingdom. Balik has
shared the stage with Alexis Pit and Joshua Rogers. Brother,
Malik Oliver, Welcome to Let's Talk to the Lord.
Speaker 15 (12:27):
Hey, Hello, I appreciate that welcome.
Speaker 16 (12:30):
It is an exciting moment to be here and further talk.
Speaker 15 (12:33):
About the Kingdom and my experiences thus far.
Speaker 4 (12:38):
Hey man, and before we continue our interview and discussion,
briefly and in your own words, please describe the story
of your life.
Speaker 16 (12:54):
Absolutely started out in this Kingdom business age four, four
or five, My mom was choir director, secretary of the church.
Speaker 15 (13:05):
She was also the youth director, so I was kind
of just born in it naturally.
Speaker 16 (13:09):
And then I can remember her teaching me how to
direct choirs and how to, you know, push myself to
the limit of knowing how to navigate singing, directing choirs,
participating in the man's groups, you know, the young man's groups,
and so forth and so on. So it started off
for me at a very young age and then it
(13:30):
just grew to be something that followed me my entire life,
even up until today.
Speaker 15 (13:35):
I never imagined that planning those seeds early on, receiving
those seeds.
Speaker 16 (13:40):
From my mom early on, would turn around and be
rooted right now to where my life is.
Speaker 15 (13:47):
I've literally grown from that little boy.
Speaker 16 (13:49):
That was singing to a young man with a family
who has pretty much built his own following in Christ.
And it was so while because I started doing this
professionally in the middle of COVID and literally God just
took it and he just uprooted and pushed me further.
Speaker 15 (14:08):
So that is just a little bit about the story
of me. It was literally church every day in my house,
and so it is a joy to push my son.
Speaker 16 (14:18):
And allow him to experience church like I did and
just see it from a different lens, because I can
remember back when I was a kid hearing people say, oh,
you're such a church boy, but I'm so thankful as
a church boy because it paid off.
Speaker 4 (14:31):
Hey Man and brother Oliver, please describe to the Kingdom
where and when Christ found you and share a little
of your journey to relationship with our Lord and Savior
Christ Jesus. Oh.
Speaker 15 (14:51):
Yeah, I was young.
Speaker 16 (14:53):
I think I was of early middle school when I
decided that I wanted to give my life to Christ.
And it was one of those things where it was like,
you know, you did it, and then all your friends
were looking at and see like what are you doing?
And then it's like they realize that you want to
take this relationship with Christ serious, and it encourages them
to want to get their life serious with them as well.
Speaker 15 (15:15):
So I was young.
Speaker 16 (15:17):
I can remember being baptized and we had an old
church and then you know, my home church now has
a new church. I just remember that whole experience of
being dipped in the water and coming back up and
learning that I was made new. So I was given
an opportunity to make the right decisions, to study my
word like I'm supposed to to bring people to Christ.
Speaker 15 (15:35):
I'm try to live a better life that's some more
christ Like.
Speaker 16 (15:38):
And then I just feel like my journey from there
to now, and that's been so vital because remembering that moment,
I feel like there's a reason why I still go
to church now. Oftentimes people leave their households, leave their family,
they grow up, build their own life, and they forget
about church, and I.
Speaker 15 (15:57):
Forget about God, but they forget about church. And that's
been something that I've always found consistent.
Speaker 16 (16:02):
No matter where I've been, I've always made it my
business to find a church where I can plant and
I can make sure that I'm still building my walk
with Christ.
Speaker 4 (16:11):
A man, a man and a man again. And what
is your calling and purpose in the Body of Christ
and in the Kingdom of God.
Speaker 16 (16:26):
Yeah, I think that's a it's a that's a quite
interesting question because I felt like music was all I
was called to do. But as I've been planted at
this church that I'm serving as worship director at, I've
realized that I have a calling for prayer. I don't
It's like God's got to drop that dime on me,
(16:47):
and so I feel like I'm being pushed and cultivated
to dig deeper into the prayer piece of my life
and continue to share my prayers with the world in
each room that I walk in, and just realizing and
reading loans and knowing when an individual needs the prayer
and just what words to say during the prayer, because
(17:07):
it's so easy for anybody to pray, but knowing what
to pray for in that right.
Speaker 15 (17:12):
Season at the right time makes such a huge difference.
Speaker 4 (17:14):
Hey Man, Kingdom, I will be interviewing Brother Oliver about
the testimony and the story behind this song. I need
you listening, audience. Since the Fall of Adam, we are
born into a world that is not aware in most
(17:36):
cases that we need God. So for that reason, sometimes
it can take a act of hardship, danger, provision, circumstances,
a sickness, or something happens that will awaken the subconscience
to realize that I need something that's far beyond our
(18:00):
or grasp or understanding. We need help, but there is
no source on the earth that can do what we seek.
So we begin to look for something godlike that can
do that impossible, something that can reach the unreachable. We
(18:21):
need answers and a solution. However, it's unfortunate but a
reality as much as we need relationship with God through Christ.
But if we are not birthed into the home where
God is present, God will need to orchestrate, through events
(18:42):
of a sinful world, a path for us to consciously
begin to realize that we need God. So it's important
that we understand when, not if, but when that time comes.
First of all, we need to admit that we are
(19:03):
a sinner and in need of a savior to forgive
and cleanse us of our sins. We must realize He
gave his only begotten son, who became flesh. He was
birthed supernaturally into our simful flesh and paid the penalty
of sin on the cross of Calvary. And we ask
(19:26):
him to come into your life and began your journey
of a trusting and reliable building relationship and salvation with God.
Allowing God by the Holy Spirit to give us and
help us navigate through the circumstances of life, complete our
(19:50):
birth and created purposes, and be everything that God created
us to be. So, Brother Oliver, please tell the Kingdom,
when your fruits discovered, when you first discovered that you
needed God, oh Man, at.
Speaker 16 (20:16):
A young age and as an adult, I can't name
a time where I didn't need him. You know, I
see the blessings and the fruits of the labor of
work that's been put in. But I know that it's
because I needed God and because He wanted me to
have it. That that's why I got it. So I
wish there was a way that I could pinpoint one
singular you know, purpose or session or reason. But it's
(20:40):
a holistic thing, like I need him even now as
I walked the journey.
Speaker 15 (20:45):
Of a gospel artist and a rcial director because as
we know, I share this people all the time.
Speaker 16 (20:49):
There's a difference in the two. So you got to
know the business, but you also got to know the
church and you got to know when to turn both
on and off. So I need him daily.
Speaker 15 (20:59):
I can't deal with him.
Speaker 4 (21:01):
And then, can you think of it that very first
time when you discovered that you needed him?
Speaker 15 (21:11):
Yeah, I mean I was, I was young.
Speaker 16 (21:14):
I felt like I needed his help even more. I
have a strain on me and my father's relationship, and
so it wasn't something that just came early and.
Speaker 15 (21:24):
Late in life.
Speaker 16 (21:25):
It was kind of early on, and so I just
kind of, you know, I would to say God, like,
I really need you in this season to help me
understand the relationship, help me understand where you want the
relationship to go. And then as I grew as a man,
I still think God, I need you to help me
with his relationship, because although the relationship is better, it's
still not where I would to die here to be.
Speaker 15 (21:47):
That's a soft spot for me. More so from the
standpoint of every son.
Speaker 16 (21:51):
Wants his father in his life, and so now having
my own child, I try to make sure that the
things that I felt I did not have, I ensure
that I can feel the gaps from my child. So
I would definitely say that was one of the very first,
early on times that I felt I really needed God.
Speaker 4 (22:07):
And Brother Oliver, please tell the story and the testimony
behind the song. I need you, right so I need you.
Speaker 16 (22:18):
It was built in a moment where the world was
in constant said still there was so much uncertainty. It
was built during COVID, It was created during COVID. I
actually had penned those words probably about six or eight
months prior to and then all of a sudden we
went to a pandemic, and I felt like that was
a song of the season for the nation because we
(22:38):
really needed God to show us the way. We needed
God to give us the words. We needed God to
give us the correct doctors. We needed him to give
us the correct news. We were literally living in a
world full of I don't know or I'm confused, or
I don't know how this happened.
Speaker 15 (22:54):
And so I need you.
Speaker 16 (22:54):
It's truly built to try to give the world some
peace and to help open our mouth and declare.
Speaker 15 (23:01):
That we needed God.
Speaker 16 (23:02):
Because I felt it was also a season where God
was reminding us that we can't do this without Him,
And I felt like that's part of why we went
through the cold pandement for so long, because we couldn't
get the world to get on one cord, to realize
that we can't make it in this nation without.
Speaker 4 (23:19):
Him and man a kingdom. After we have matured in God,
we will realize that even though you are on the
right path, God will allow sometimes trials and temptations not
to cause us to fail in our journey to relationship,
(23:40):
but to benefit us. The Bible declares all things work
together for the good, declaring fitting into a plan for
good to and for those who love God and are
called according to His design and purpose, meaning God is
(24:03):
the miracle working God you have been searching for, when
aware or unaware, and because of your relationship with God
through Christ, Christ by the power of the Holy Ghost
and obedience, will empower you to crush demonic hinderances, shift
(24:25):
the atmosphere, and declare romans for in seventeen, where we
begin calling those things which be not as though they were,
which means you can speak killing to your body, finances
to your bank account, and the fulfillment of God's purpose
(24:46):
and promises according to His will. So, brother Oliver, please
share a testimony of the time you needed the Lord
and he empowered you to receive your miracle.
Speaker 16 (25:03):
Absolutely, I felt like I was given my time and
my effort and my energy and dedication to a church
that I served at for quite a long time, and
I felt like I didn't get the same love back.
And so my constant prayer to God was, where you
just please a place with me where you want me.
Speaker 4 (25:25):
I want to serve, and you know.
Speaker 16 (25:27):
I want to serve with gladness in my heart, and
I experienced a couple of different options after that, church wise,
and they just weren't where God wanted me. And then
about eight months ago, God gave me a miracle to
the prayer that I asked and his season right and
in his time, And what I had to realize was
that I asked for something and I wanted an immediate
(25:49):
response with God was building, pruning, shaping me for where
I am now.
Speaker 15 (25:55):
And so the miracle on the back end.
Speaker 16 (25:56):
Of that is he placed me in a position at
a church where I'm getting daily, where I'm getting to
support daily and the uplifting and.
Speaker 15 (26:04):
Encouragement, and I'm being built to be a better leader
than I was the day before.
Speaker 16 (26:08):
So that would be definitely the best part of it
is that I am where God wants me to be now,
and that's the best miracle that anybody could ask for.
Speaker 4 (26:16):
Amen. And finally, as we come to a clothes brother, Oliver,
leave a word of encouragement with our listening audience who
need God, whether it's involving the pardons of sin or
a need or an unspoken request that they have before God,
(26:38):
to stay strong until He answers and receives the miracle.
They need from God.
Speaker 16 (26:49):
I would definitely say to every individual listening, God did
not create you by accident. You were literally built in
His image, handpicked by God, and there's a purpose for
your life.
Speaker 15 (27:05):
And so you may run to know, you may run
into not yet, but don't give up the fight.
Speaker 16 (27:12):
Continue the race and when you continue the race, God
will reward you for the work you put into the race.
Speaker 15 (27:18):
I am a living witness.
Speaker 16 (27:19):
I've seen it, I've lived it, I've experienced it, and
for that I will forever trust God.
Speaker 15 (27:26):
So I will close with trust God at all times,
and I promise he will direct every path.
Speaker 4 (27:33):
