Divine Completeness and then Let's Talk to the Lord Gospel
radio talk show and Kingdom. Our guests for Season nine
of Let's Talk to the Lord is R and B
gospel artist Solo Kingdom. Solo is an R and B
gospel artist. He has transitioned R and B to becoming
(06:26):
one of the greatest top gospel artists. Solo, through his faith,
has been able to proclaim that God remains faithful. Solo,
welcome to let's talk to the Lord.
Speaker 10 (06:43):
Yes, thank you so much, Apostle, thank you for having me,
Thank you for considering me and God bless man.
Speaker 5 (06:53):
Before we begin our interview and discussion, please tell the
Kingdom a little about your music journey and how you began. Well.
Speaker 10 (07:06):
I am solo singer, songwriting musician from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and
I I I I'm I'm. I'm just be reverting back
to my foundation because my foundation is gospel. My foundation
is UH encouraging uh music uh singing about the goodness
(07:31):
of God.
Speaker 7 (07:32):
Uh.
Speaker 10 (07:33):
So I I I I praise God for allowing me
to uh experience uh some things in the music industry
in the in the secular sense, UH, but literally I'm
just back to my foundation uh in this gospel, inspirational
contemporary urban soul uplifting the good news music talking about
(07:59):
uh Christ, Jesus.
Speaker 5 (08:02):
And Brother Boy. Please tell the Kingdom when and where
Christ found you and share a little of your journey
to relationship with our Lord and Savior Christ Jesus.
Speaker 10 (08:17):
Well, I was baptized at the age of seven, and
you know, coming to the Lord and learning the ways
of the Lord early on, I must admit going to
church early on. You know, it wasn't an interest interest,
I guess because I was made to go. I was
made to get my stuff ready on Saturday night and
(08:39):
made to get on the choir. And you know you're saying,
and you know, you do things that you know seemingly
probably wasn't cool when you was a kid. But I'm
so grateful, you know, to family. I'm so grateful that
the Lord saw fit to you know, baptize me, allow
(08:59):
me to be back ties and learn the ways of
the Lord at a young age, because truly it has
been a blessing and navigated my decisions in life, my
direction in life. It kind of reminds me Apostle of
the Scripture when it talks about training up a child
(09:20):
on the way the child should go and when you
get old, he shall not depart from it. And I'm
thankful for the training up because truly I've never forgot that.
Speaker 5 (09:36):
And what is your calling and purpose in the Body
of Christ and in the Kingdom of God. Oooh, I
think I have many callings. But you know, I love
encouraging people. I love encouraging mankind every woman, man, boy
and girl. I love uplifting people. I love finding ways
(10:03):
to bless people. So I think my calling it had many.
It's many areas. I think I'm called to in reference
to uh, you know, not just through song, you know,
but you know the way that I walk, being of example,
(10:24):
it kind of reminds me of a coffee bean. You know,
I often call myself a coffee bean. If you put
a coffee bean in the water, the coffee bean is
real small, but the coffee bean changes the complexity everywhere
that coffee bean go. So I'm like a coffee bean.
(10:44):
So I know I have some coffee beans out there
that might be listening that everywhere you go that you
would change the complexity of that area. No matter what
barbershop you go in, what supermarket you go in, what
church you go in, what neighborhoods you go in, you
will be able to change the complexity in and help
(11:05):
pointing people to God. So have many callings, and I'm
excited to be used as a vessel as.
Speaker 10 (11:13):
A servant.
Speaker 5 (11:16):
Amen and Kingdom. I will be interviewing Solo about the
story behind the song A man after his Heart to
begin Kingdom. Being a man after God's own heart means
having a heart of Repentance means being honest and transparent
(11:40):
with God and confess and admit your own sins and
turning back to God. It means that you love God,
love his word, and are striving to do the best
of your ability to please Him and have a lifelong
relationship with him. Kingdom. David was actively pursuing an intimate
(12:04):
relationship with God Kingdom. To be a man or woman,
son or daughter after God's own heart means we obey
God and seek to do his will on purpose with
deliberate intent. It means you are pursuing God. Kingdom. Saul
(12:26):
was the first appointed king by God over Israel. He
looked an act of depart He was known for his
courage and generosity. He was tall and striking in appearance,
and at first Saul did well, but it did not
take long before his pride took control and his reliance
(12:49):
on God faded away. He disobeyed God and did not
repent Kingdom. The sixth attributes of being called a man
after God's heart art or faith, trust, love, humility, integrity, forgiveness,
and worship. For Samuel thirteen and fourteen declares, but now
(13:13):
your kingdom will not endure. The Lord has thought a
man after his own heart and appointed him ruler over
his people, because you have not kept the command of
the Lord. Kingdom, the Young's Literal translation declares, and now
the kingdom doth not stand. Jehovah has fought for himself
(13:39):
a man according to his own heart, and Jehovah chargeth
him for the leader over his people. For thou hast
not kept that which Jehovah commanded thee kingdom. The Young's
Literal translation was compiled by Robert Young. It's a through
(14:00):
English rendering of the original Hebrew and Greek Kingdom. Young
Youth the Textus Recipitus and the Mesoretic Texts as the
basis for his translation. It was produced and printed in
the late nineteenth century. The phrase has sought a man
(14:20):
after his own heart introduces the design or the intention
of divine selection based on the heart's disposition towards God.
It foreshadows the rise of David, who is later described
as a man after God's own heart. This phrase also
(14:43):
denotes the importance of inner character over outward appearances or
actions theologically speaking, and emphasizes and gives extra weight to
the point that God values a heart aligned with His way.
Will have seen in Solms fifty created me a pure heart,
(15:05):
old God and renew a right loyal spirit within me. Solo,
please tell your testimony and share the story behind your
song A Man after His Heart.
Speaker 10 (15:21):
Well, I'm so grateful. I'm so honored to have this
moment and opportunity in life to have recorded such a
great song. And I must give a shout out to
sister Janie over in New York City. And you know
(15:42):
she's a great artist as well. I'm sure you guys
have heard of her, but she hearn. The family presented
this song to me after over a year of just
praying and meditating and being patient. And UH they they
(16:03):
found it not robbery to UH present that uh to me.
UH based off of our relationship and based off of
of the things that I believe God have revealed to
them that Solo has attributes. UH that reminds them of
uh David Uh in the respect of you know, your heart,
(16:26):
loving God and even in the midst of mistakes and
you know, repenting and uh not repeating the same sin,
and you know, just just just just having that pure
worship and you know, integrity, and you know all of
those great attributes that I s solo can't identify with because, uh,
(16:50):
you know, we're not perfect. But you know, my heart's
desire is to make God smile. It always been that,
to make God smile, to make him godly proud, and
to make sure that I'm doing my best and lining
up with the word and what I was taught and
(17:15):
looking in the mirror, as Paul would say, examine yourself
and examine my mistakes and help correct the no mistakes.
So that song resonated with me when they presented presented
it to me and I went into the studio, me
and my engineer, and it always be just me and
(17:36):
my engineer. And my engineer says, even though it was
two of us, but it's really three of us. And
I said, I get it. You're right right. It's me
and my engineer and Christ Jesus the Holy Spirit. And
I went in the studio and we had a great
time and a great moment. A meltdown moment at the
(17:59):
same time, because it's so I can relate to everything
that was uh written. Uh. And so I'm just grateful
to be able to minister such a song and to
put it on the platform that uh it it it,
it's one of your greatest things that you could possibly do. Uh.
(18:22):
You know, I guess after accepting Christ is turning to
Christ and desiring uh to have a heart after Christ
and to to to to to uh. You know read
about you know, guys like David in the Word of
God that you know, when the Lord saw David, you know,
(18:43):
he blatantly I identified with David. That's a man that
not only I can call David after my own heart,
but who can fulfill my mission, who can be obedient
to my mission, who can be sold out to my
mission in the midst of his mistakes. So that's where
(19:05):
I find myself at solo, that I am sold out
as when you guys hear man after your own hot
like I'm sold out, I'm I'm I'm I'm I'm sold out.
I'm excited, you know about being sold out. I'm so
grateful to having this opportunity to carry such a message
(19:30):
to mankind and not just men, but even though the
song is definitely geared to men as well, to just
kind of, you know, put a little fire underneath him
a bit, and you know, get the men back to
their rifle place. As being leaders, leaders in the community,
(19:52):
leaders in your family.
Speaker 5 (19:55):
You know, to be the head.
Speaker 10 (19:57):
You know, because when we read the word of God,
you know, God said, honor your father and your mother.
And you know when you know, when he shows us
the order, you know, his God, his man, his woman
is you know, man is always under God. And just
showing the world that a man's role is very important.
(20:21):
So I'm just grateful to have this song man at
their own heart.
Speaker 5 (20:28):
And kingdom. Let's understand that being a man after God's
heart is not a get out of jail free card.
If you will please understand, David was judged and punished
for his and for actions. Every time he paid the
consequences for his actions. Second Samuearl O. Twelve and ten
(20:51):
is where the prophet Nathan rebukes David. And now the
sword does not turn aside from the house unto the age,
because thou hast despised me, and thou took the wife
of Uriah. The Hittite to be thee for a wife.
(21:12):
Kingdom unto the age means for all time or throughout eternity,
signifying a very long time or indefinite period of time.
Despised indicates a profound disrespect and disregard for God's commands.
It means your actions shall contempt for God's authority and holiness.
(21:39):
Brother solo, have you ever, throughout life found yourself in
trouble with God? If so, are you able to share
without revealing everything what happened and how you repented and
allow God to turn that situation around for you?
Speaker 10 (22:00):
Oh? Yeah, I mean you know when you when you've
been when you've been raised in the Word, under the Word,
especially at a young age, coming up l learning the
ways of the Lord, and uh listening to you know,
your family and your parents, and uh obeying your parents
(22:22):
and your grandparents, and you know, going to church and
you know, just trying to do the right thing.
Speaker 7 (22:28):
Uh.
Speaker 10 (22:29):
Even when I didn't do the right thing. Uh, I
felt convicted and and and and and that conviction is heavy. Uh,
you know, because we were taught to fear the Lord. Yeah,
so so so so being in church and coming out
in the world and in school, a job, and uh,
(22:51):
you know when I stumbled, when I might've offended someone, Uh,
when I might've hurt someone, uh with my words. You know,
that conviction falls on me so strong because of my upbringing,
and it kind of reminds me of the saying that
(23:11):
I often say to people, and I'm sure everyone can
be made and such as yourself apostle. The saying they
used to say back then was sticks and stones may
break my bones, but names will never hurt. I come
to find out that's not true, because names does hurt.
(23:32):
Words does hurt. Excuse me, yeah, words does hurt. So
I found myself, you know, repenting, you know, turning away
from those things and turning away from you know, the
crowd that I might have been with at one time,
and Mom and Dad saying, listen, you gotta be careful
(23:53):
of the friends that you pick. You know, you gotta
be careful who you hang around. So well, again that
that that strong conviction in reference to me have always
played a part, uh, in reference to me getting straightened up,
me uh, turning to the Lord, me crying out to
(24:16):
the Lord, me uh, getting away from the crowd, me
talking to the Lord because I kN I know solo
Solomon knows that, uh, I was created different with the
t owner and to make a difference with the ce.
(24:38):
And I'm sure a lot of people can relate to that, right,
A lot of you individuals out there, you know, y'all
are different to make a difference. So it's not a
bad thing to be uh cut different, come from a
different cloth, come from a different background, come from you know,
(24:58):
ways different, not doing everything as the world would do.
So that conviction, that that word conviction, uh And it
still plays heavy with me because the older I get,
the more transparent I've become. Em Immediately, if I do
(25:19):
something wrong, if I stumble, it doesn't take me a
while to ask God for forgiveness. Immediately, I'm asking God
for forgiveness. Immediately, I'm asking God to give me back
in good grace. Immediately, I'm examining myself. Uh So, thank
God for the fear of the Lord, because I believe
(25:42):
if uh the world stuff to really understand that, and
and even our youth, if our youth was was was
was really taught and raised to to to to fear
the Lord. Right, He's a god of love, but he's
(26:02):
also a god of wrath, A God of wrath as well, right,
But to fear right, to fear the Lord, right, that
means we have to walk circumspectuvely. We have to be
careful in our dealings, you know, we have to be mindful,
uh to do good, you know, and not of evil
(26:23):
and not to follow the crowd and things of that nature.
So again it's our job as well to be of
that vessel, be of that light, to be able to
and encourage the youth out there as well, because seemingly
you know that, uh, this generation definitely doesn't fear anything.
(26:47):
But uh, you know, if you have to fear of
the Lord, trust me, you're gonna think twice about doing
something or saying something or acting out in such a way.
So fear of the Lord.
Speaker 5 (27:00):
So what is your advice to the person listening to
you listening to this episode and find themselves in David's
situation or in trouble with God due to their intended actions,
to stop, to repent and to surrender to God.
Speaker 10 (27:26):
I think I think it's a uh, you know, if
a person just really you know, sit down, break away
from the world, break away, break away from the crowd,
and just really get to themselves and to think on
(27:49):
the lines of you know, I've tried everything else. I've tried,
you know, to be with my friends. I've tried to
please my friends. I've tried to please the world. I've
tried this, I've tried that. And if they could just
take a moment and just try God, I think that
(28:10):
life would would will will will would be better off
than they could ever imagine. But just sit down and
just try God.
Speaker 9 (28:20):
Uh.
Speaker 10 (28:20):
Sometimes you know it's okay to uh listen to someone
else from the outside because sometimes a lot of times
someone else from the outside can see things in you
that you really can't see see in yourself. We don't
have all the right answers, right, but but right am
I my brother's keeper? The answer is yes. Uh So
(28:42):
my encouragement is is is is that you know, individuals
just take a moment to listen, you know, to to
to a good counsel. Uh. You know, don't have the
mindset that I know it all. Uh, I've been here
for I know that in results, you know, uh, you
(29:05):
know those kind of lines and and just take back.
That's why God gave us two ears. I believe right
to talk less, but to listen more. Yes, you know,
so so if we can take that moment of just listening,
we would be better off, and I'm sure the world
(29:26):
would be better off. And again not just zooming on
the youth, but even the older generation as well, because
don't nobody know it all, you know, But if we
can just take time out and listen to one another
and try God right, prayer he wants to hear from everybody.
(29:47):
Prayer works right. God is the one that's keeping us breathing.
It's not the government, it's not your friends, it's not
the people out in the world. It's not the you know,
the doctors is not know is God himself, all by
himself is the one that's keeping the breath of life
(30:12):
in your body, in our body. So you know, to
try God right. Try the one that who's able to
keep you from falling. Try the one that has helped
you out at your job. Try the one that has
helped you out through your school. Try the one that
that that uh who who who who healed your mama?
(30:34):
Who healed your grandmama? Who who healed your daddy? Try
the one that who kept you from getting locked up?
Try the one that who uh kept you from getting hurt?
Kept you from getting killed. Try Try the one that's
Christ Jesus right, Try try him, and I guarantee you
(30:54):
wholeheartedly if you uh you know serious, if you surrendering
it and and and committed and obedient, your life would
be that much better off. Place your life in His
hands after you didn't tried everything else.
Speaker 5 (31:12):
Uh.
Speaker 10 (31:13):
So that's my in and encouragement to all mankind. Hey, ma'am,
brother so Low, please introduce yourself to the kingdom.
Speaker 5 (31:27):
Hi.
Speaker 10 (31:28):

me to uh come forth and to uh be used
as a vessel and as a voice and as a
vehicle to help elevate the kingdom of of guide and
to encourage everyone uh that it's a cool thing to

uh you know, no guide and to get your spiritual

about that.
