For season ten of Let's Talk to the Lord, our
guest is gospel recording artist Clinton Gardner Kingdom currently Clinton
Gardner and New Sound Worshipers, formerly of Clinton Gardener and

(06:35):
Nehemiah Kingdom. Brother Gardner is a songwriter, worshiper and director.
Brother Clinton Gardener. Welcome to Let's Talk to the Lord.

Speaker 12 (06:50):
I'm so excited to be here. Thank you for the invite.
This is gonna be an amazing time.

Speaker 11 (06:56):
And before we begin our interview and discussion, should please,
in your own words, briefly describe the story of your life.

Speaker 12 (07:09):
Wow, that's a power pet question. You know, my Christian
journey started out at a very young age. My grandmother
and mother made sure that God was a top priority
in my life. And like many of your listeners, man,
I went to church five days a week. You know,
we had Sunday school, we had afternoon service. Man, it

(07:32):
was loaded and that's where the foundation of my journey began,
even as far as sitting on a junior deacon board
and singing in the mask choir at the early age.
All those experiences that Grandma and Mama drugged me into
helped to develop me into this Kingdom man that I

(07:52):
am today.

Speaker 11 (07:54):
And brother Gardner, please tell the Kingdom where and when
Christ found you and share a little of your journey
to relationship with our Lord and Savior, Christ, Jesus Man.

Speaker 12 (08:09):
Christ found me at the early age of around six
years old. I will say that my development and my
true understanding of God, that true revelation, began at the
age of sixteen. I remember going to a John Eckhart
conference man, and it was the first time that I

(08:31):
will say that I had a really, a really encounter
with God. I accepted my call to preach as early
as the age of seventeen, so now being age of
forty four, I look back at this journey and it
just blows me away of how God has kept me
in how God has continued to direct my path, but
also matured me in the faith, having a better understanding

(08:54):
of how God moves and who God is. And I
think that's ever growing. We get different glimpses of His
revelation and his glory. But it started for me at
an early age, and as I'm matured, I kept getting
different revelations of who God really is and making it
personal to my walk and my walk and my assignment

(09:14):
with God and what is.

Speaker 11 (09:17):
Your calling and purpose in the Body of Christ and
in the Kingdom of God.

Speaker 12 (09:25):
Man, that's power pack. I'm a servant, I'm a servant leader. Man.
I think that anybody who knows Clant Garden truly by
heart is that I just want to serve. Whether that's
picking up the trash, whether that's ushering somebody out the door,
or driving the church bus, or that's just me.

Speaker 11 (09:43):
Man.

Speaker 12 (09:43):
I go to other people concerts all the time, and
the first thing I asked them is what can I
do when you need an usher? Do you need somebody
to hold up offering? What can I do? And that's
just mean by nature. I say that I've always been
that way, even as a kid, that I just want
to be able to enhance or bless somebody. So I'm

(10:04):
a servant by heart. I think my purpose is called
to the broken, being someone who came from a very
broken background. No, we don't have trying to get into
that today, but God has really used me and my
experiences to deal with those who are broken, to those
who are emotionally fragile, and that's typically the audience that

(10:30):
God has me speak to.

Speaker 11 (10:32):
And Kingdom, I will be interviewing Brother Gardner about the
reemergence of the Choir now Kingdom. If you would go
to your favorite place for podcasts and search for the
episode on Let's Talk to the Lord at those platforms
on October the eighteenth, twenty twenty three, where we interviewed

(10:57):
Kevin Styles and Psalm about the bringing back the Choir.
Because we release prophetic revelation concerning this topic now Kingdom,
as I researched the etymology of reemergence. I discover the
term re emergence originated from the Latin word emerge, meaning

(11:21):
to bring forth or to bring to light. It combines
the prefix re meaning again or backwith now kingdom to
emerge refers to rising. The entomology reflects the idea of
something coming back into prominence after being hidden or back

(11:46):
into view. Now, Brother Gardner I released revelation in season
eight bringing back the Choir that God was not necessarily
making the choir obscure, but he began expanding the worship
by adding praise and worship and the worshiping God desired

(12:06):
intimacy with us, and somehow we lost at one time
the purpose for the choir. Now Kingdom, the choir helped
to facilitate a divine connection between the congregation and God.
The choir expressed the emotion and passion of worship.

Speaker 13 (12:27):
It also was a powerful means or is a powerful
means of building community and is an expression of joy
and faith and hope. The choir is a divine enhancement
of the divine service. Biblically speaking, the choir was used

(12:49):
to dismantle the walls of Jericho so the army could
move in. Spiritually speaking, that means to crush the demonic
spirits that would try to distract the move of God
in the services or in the city. Now, sometimes we
are mentally distracted by the cares and worries.

Speaker 11 (13:12):
Of this life. Sometimes we may be afflicted in our bodies.
We could be burdened by the cares of life. So
God will use the songs, the music and the choir
by the anointing to destroy every yoke of bondage to
set us free. So the power of God begins moving.

(13:36):
The Holy ghost starts moving by the spirit through the songs.
And we all remember those Sundays when after the choir sang,
the pastor couldn't preach. And that was also the purpose
for the marching ind of the choir to put demons
to flight so the holy ghosts can move in. We

(13:58):
all remember when the Lord will make the altar call,
and those were being saved and delivered. But somehow we
lost the essence of this. So God began doing the
same thing through a remnant we call the worship team
to bring us closer to Him. So, brother Gardner, what

(14:22):
have God shown you about the reemergence of the choir.

Speaker 12 (14:28):
Oh man, this is a topic that I've set in
the ranks of several choir directors and church leaders that
the re emergence of the choir is definitely for a
time such as these. There's something very powerful about corporate worship.
And it's not that we can't get corporate worship through

(14:51):
a praise team or a worship team. But when thirty
voices and forty fifty voices come together, the sound that
radiates that hits Heaven. I believe, just it just it
just destroys the yoke. Man, It just creates an atmosphere
of unity. God is beginning to get us back to

(15:14):
the roots and the foundations of uh in the traditions
of things that we've done in church over years. There's
something special in the church with the birthing of a choir,
and and God is showing me that we have to
now come outside of our New Age thought patterns to

(15:36):
revisit this Kingdom principle, this Kingdom institution, which is the choir.
I imagine heaven and as as bountiful and countless the
number that it shall be. But I can only imagine
that even in Revelations said that we're going to be
on uneath singing Holy not as two and three, but

(15:56):
as a congregation, a multitude of people. There's something powerful
about that, and I believe that that rebirthing of the
choir is.

Speaker 11 (16:06):
Now Amen and Kingdom. Another primary purpose of the choir
is to enhance the worship experience declared in Hebrews two
and twelve, which declares, I will declare Thy name unto
my brethren in the midst of the church or assembly,

(16:31):
will I think praise unto thee now Kingdom. Here, the
choir leads the congregation in singing, making worship a more
collective experience that helps us set the tone for uplifting
the congregational spiritual atmosphere. The lyrics of hymns and spiritual

(16:51):
songs releases biblical truth and doctrinal teaching, aiding in the
revelation and spiritual growth of the church. So, Brother Gardner,
what are some ways as the choir re emerges that
can be used during the rehearsal times to better prepare
the choir to be that spiritual shield against the enemy,

(17:16):
to set the atmosphere for a.

Speaker 12 (17:19):
Move of God, Oh Man that is so powerful. I
believe that I don't use the term rehearsal. I don't,
and my choir and my church choir they know I
don't use that term because every time we come before
God's presence is worshiped, are what we call our choir.

(17:42):
Rehearsals should not be that much different than, or should
even be a little bit more powerful than what we
do on Sunday. We have to transform. You know, we're
there to study and to perfect, but we're also there
to get better in our praise offering and our worship

(18:03):
surrender to God. It's okay to have deep prayer in rehearsal.
It's okay to talk about the Word of God in rehearsal.
It's okay to shout, dance, run, or whatever you have
to do in rehearsal. Because it's a worse of session.
We ought to be consecrating ourselves and when rehearsal loving
on each other. In rehearsal we ought to be be

(18:26):
It should be a deep divine movement of God and
what we term as our rehearsals. So for my choir
or any choiry'll lead, this is not a rehearsal. This
is a deliverance worst of session. That means that if
you come in here today, you're gonna leave out with
what God got for you before you leave here. We

(18:47):
sometimes as directors, we get so caught up on fine
tuning the craft, fine tuning the sound, and that's all great,
But I'm always reminded of what my mentor taught me
is that unless the rule, our breath of God breathes
through you, you may be making what appears to be

(19:07):
a good sound in the earth, and God has his
ears closed in heaven. We need to make sure that
we are sensitive to the spirituality of what we do.
We are nothing but instruments that have to be cleaned
up and washed and fine tuned. And we fine tune
ourselves by being integral and authentic. And how we approach

(19:31):
that throne called grace the.

Speaker 11 (19:33):
Brother gardner, What can individual choir members do individually before
they come together that will strengthen the choir as a
whole spiritually.

Speaker 12 (19:48):
Individually, we all from the choir director, from the pastor
to the preacher, to the deacon to the nurse, we
all have to begin this worsip journey throughout the week.
We are flesh. We are flesh at best, so we
have to be empty vessels to get anything, to receive

(20:09):
anything from God. A lot of times we come into
rehearsals or spaces and we have not spend the time
with God to hear from God, but also the time
for God to pull out of us and to pour
back into us. That's a sacred space. And God, I

(20:29):
don't want to come in to your space with anything
that's not like you. God. So when I'm in my car, God,
can you pull this thing off of me? God? But
when I walk in my home, can you pull these
things off of me? God? So when I get to
get prepared for worst of God, that you get all
of me. Not eighty percent of me, not seventy percent

(20:49):
of me, God, But I need you to get one
hundred and twenty percent of me. So that preparation and
how we walk, how we live our life, how we
dedicate time for prayer, how we dedicate time meditating in
God's Word is essential. And that is a seven day
a week job. So when I pull up to the
parking lote for rehearsal, I have already sat in communion

(21:12):
with God. Therefore I am ready to receive so that
my cup can pull over to someone else.

Speaker 11 (21:19):
And Brother gardner. Let's close with the choir or music
department leadership. How can they maintain spiritual unity so the
choir will never again lose its God given purpose.

Speaker 12 (21:38):
Man music music department leadership has to be connected through prayer.
We as I leave my church ministry, it was crucial.
We didn't just pray when we got to rehearsal. You know,
we pray throughout the week. As the minster of music.
I will call my band, I will call my worship leader,
and we prayed. We prayed for each other. And that's

(22:03):
key because this this is a spiritual thing. This is
this is Attacks are real and and and attacks will come.
But it's what we bind and what we lose and
what we pray for that is a hinderance to those attacks.
So if you have a music department or a music
leader is not not vested in the power of prayer,

(22:24):
you've already lost some of your effectiveness. Prayer is our
number one, number one weapon that that this route distracts,
and this route the attacks of the enemy have. You
to get a team on one accord. There has to
be a strong prayer life because a leader that's routed
in prayer is getting his assignments. He's getting the strategies

(22:48):
from the Holy Spirit. It's not coming from his intellect
or his gifting, but it's coming from the Holy Spirit.
So prayer is the way. Prayer is the key to
create a unified music department.

Speaker 11 (23:04):
A man, a brother Cordner, is there anything we may have,
myth that you would like to add about the reemergence
of the choir?

Speaker 12 (23:16):
Man, I just charged every pastor and every worship worship leader,
every leader in the church, just to remember the importance
of the choir and the foundation and the principles that
the choir was founded upon. The choir was birthed out

(23:40):
of a time of challenge in our African American culture
and even in other ethnicities and cultures, that corporate worship
was not only there to send up a worship and
a praise to God, but the choir became an extension
to someone family. We grew close together for broke people

(24:03):
who were broken and have brothers and sisters some of
those pseudo relationships that were formed through the union of
a choir. We cannot, for convenience to minute the power
and the purpose of a choir. It seems to be
convenient to only deal with three or four, or five

(24:26):
or six. But God has called us to deal with
all seek in regardless of the complexity of the numbers.
When we are driven by the Holy Spirit, we can manage.
We can have the capacity to deal with whatever personalities
or whatever quantity of people that God has charged us with.

(24:47):
So my charge is bring back the choirs. Let us
come out from sitting in the pews and not serving.
Let's get back together. And it doesn't mean to violent
the worship team or to sit them off to the side.
We can work in conjunction of one another to create

(25:08):
the most powerful worship atmospheres in our churches.

Speaker 11 (25:11):
