Speaker 4 (06:46):
And Pastor Tillery, in your own words, please describe the
story of your life.
Speaker 2 (06:55):
Oh wow, okay, Well, you know I was born in
raised in the Washington, DC area. My mom was a
gospel artist and a deaconess and then an evangelist in
the church. My dad was a musician and both of
my parents actually are the original members of the jazz
(07:22):
jazz blues singer group Chuck Brown and the Soul Stirs
and here in the Washington, DC area. And you know,
my mom has traveled all over the world singing gospel.
My dad has played for many artists like Bou Didley
and some of the other greats out there back in
the day. And you know, I was raised in a
(07:43):
home of music, raised in a home with love. And
I was also raised in a home where my mom
was God fearing and she raised us in the church.
So that's where my foundation began, you know, singing in
the choirs and served in my home church. But I'm
just a nobody trying to tell everybody about somebody who
(08:06):
could save anybody, you know, just using the gifts and
talents that the Lord has blessed me with to to
write songs, toroduce songs, and minister to people, whether through
the song or through books. Just trying to help everybody
to discover their God's plan for their life.
Speaker 4 (08:26):
A Pactor Tillery, Please tell the Kingdom when and where
Christ found you, and please share briefly your journey to
relationship with our Lord and Savior, Christ Jesus.
Speaker 2 (08:41):
Well, you know, I was, you know, I was in
the church. I joined the church when I was a child,
you know, along with my mom. You know, she raised
us in the church, singing in a choir. I was
baptized at the age of nine under the leadership of
doctor Lewis T. Tate, singor of Faith Bible Church, where
I gave my life to Christ then and you know,
(09:03):
and I was baptized, and I'm filled with the Holy Ghost.
And I've been running for my life ever since. And
but you know, as young people do, you know, you know,
I was in the church, but the church wasn't always
in me so but it wasn't until in my mid
twenties where I really discovered the true power of God
(09:29):
and received my calling. And I've been running with Jesus
ever since, you know, you know, And I haven't lived
a perfect life, but I've been doing everything that I
can a man to use the gifts that God has
given to me a man for these last and evil days,
to fulfill my purpose that God had for me here
(09:52):
on earth. So I've been running with Jesus for quite
some time now, and I'm so glad that I found
him at a young age and still able to do
what God has called me to do.
Speaker 4 (10:03):
And what is your calling and purpose in the Body
of Christ and in the Kingdom of God.
Speaker 2 (10:12):
Well, my calling and my purpose is God has called
me to minister the Gospel. Now God has blessed me
with gifts and talents to do it in multiple ways.
Not only am I a senior pastor of free worship
ministries in Lexington Park, Maryland, but also I'm a musician,
I'm a singer, songwriter, producer, and I'm also a book
(10:36):
offer now and through all of those mediums, I'm able
to fulfill the call that's on my life, and that
is to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ the wind
souls for the Kingdom, to create more disciples. And then
on my purpose, Holly, I'm so glad you asked me that,
because my purpose is to do the will of God.
(10:58):
That's my purpose, my purpose to what God has called
me to do. And I believe that God is using
me in these last and evil days to win souls
for the Kingdom. And I'm walking in my purpose, whether
it's writing a book to help encourage somebody who may
be going through some of the same things I've been through,
or writing a song that deals with somebody who's going
(11:21):
through sickness and disease like I had to that I've
been through, you know, and the challenges that I face.
God has allowed me to use all of this to
fulfill my purpose, and that is to encourage, up, lift, edify, motivate,
and to lead as many people as I can while
(11:42):
I have time on this earth to Christ a.
Speaker 4 (11:46):
Man, a man and a man of man edom. I
will be interviewing our guest about a book authored by
our guest kindled The Perfect a Trap, so they thought.
Kingdom life presents countless choices, but not all paths lead
(12:09):
to purpose and prosperity. Some are cleverly disguised traps designed
to entangle, delay, and even destroy. In The Perfect Trap,
Doctor John Tillery.
Speaker 11 (12:23):
Exposes the deceptive.
Speaker 4 (12:25):
Strategies that often go unnoticed and provides biblical wisdom to
help believers avoid snares meant to derail their God ordained destiny.
This book is more than a warning, it is a guide.
Pastor Tillery draws from the Scripture, personal experiences, and real
(12:46):
life testimonies to uncover spiritual, emotional, and financial pitfalls. Each
chapter highlights a different trap, whether it's pride, unforgiveness, temptation, fear,
and offers faith based solutions to escape kingdom. Standing up
(13:08):
for the truth may not always be popular, but it
is right. Sometimes join the right thing can lead to
difficult situations now Kingdom. In Jeremiah, the thirty eight chapter
is where the prophet Jeremiah was thrown into the cistern.
Verse one, Jeremiah was speaking to all the people, saying
(13:30):
Verse two, so says the Lord, he who remains in
this city will die by the sword, by famine and
by yrulent disease meaning pestilence. But he who goes out
to the Chialdeans of Babylon will live and have his
own life as a reward and stay alive. Verse three,
(13:51):
Thus says the Lord, this city will certainly be given
into the hands of the army of the King of Babylon,
and he will take it. Verse four. Therefore, the princess
meaning court official, said to the King, please, we implore
you let this man Jeremiah be put to death for
speaking in this way. He discourages and weakens the will
(14:16):
of the soldiers who remain in this city, and he
discourages and weakens the will of the people by speaking
such words to them. For this man is not seeing
the is not seeking the well being of these people,
but rather their harm. Verse five. Then King Zendekayah, fearing
(14:37):
the princess, said, listen, he is in your hands, for
the king is in no position to do anything against you.
Speaker 11 (14:46):
Verse six.
Speaker 4 (14:46):
So they took Jeremiah and they threw him in the
cistern of mal Keija. Now there was no water in
the cistern, but only mud, and Jeremiah thank in the mud.
Verse seven. Now ebed Melick, the Ethiopian kush, had heard
that they put Jeremiah in the cistern, and while the
king was sitting in the gate of Benjamin verse eight,
(15:11):
e bed Melik went out of the king's palace and
spoke to the king, saying, in verse nine, my lord
the King, these men have acted wickedly in all that
they have done to Jeremiah, the prophet, whom they've thrown
in the cistern, and he will die of hunger. Where
(15:32):
is because of the famine, for there is no bread
in the city. Verse ten. Then the king commanded e
bed Melick, the Ethiopian saying, take thirty men from here
with you, and let Jeremiah the Prophet out of the
cistern before he dies. Now Kingdom, here we find Jeremiah
(15:52):
in prison for prophesying. His imprisonment is a reflection of
a much deeper spirit truth about a sinful society who
rejects divine truth because he spoke against the corrupt leadership
and moral spiritual decline decay of Jerusalem. But even more
(16:14):
pressing is he was warning of the impending judgment as
a consequence of their disregard of God's covenant. Now, Pastortillery,
your book The Perfect Trap equips believers with disernment to
see trouble before it arises. Please tell your testimony and
(16:38):
share the story of the authorship of your book The
Perfect Trap.
Speaker 2 (16:45):
Well, you know when the Lord laid on my heart
to write this book, The Perfect Trap, it was after
I have did a Bible study and also I preached
this on a Sunday morning. Most of my books that
I am, the Lord has uh bless me to write
based upon the sermons that I preached or a Bible
(17:06):
study that I taught. And this particular book, The Perfect Trap,
so they thought, was based upon the story in the
Bible uh On when the woman who was caught in adultery,
they were they brought her to Jesus, and what they
wanted Jesus to do was to catch judgment against her.
(17:27):
And and when what they did, they tried to twist
the scriptures, you know, because they said, what the the
Moses of law says that you supposed to stole her,
and and that's not what the law says. The laws
they's both stole, both of them, but the one that
that she was caught uh with, they didn't bring him. Amen.
(17:52):
And what they were trying to do is to trap
Jesus so that they can say, Okay, here you go.
You you your false prophet. You're you're not who you
say you are. You're not this, you're not that, and
and and and when I wrote this book, it's when
I was preaching or studying to preach the sermon. It
just reminded me so much of not my life and
(18:14):
so many others that the enemy has set traps up
against us, and the enemy has set traps up against
us to stop us from watch this, from fulfilling the
calling that's on our lives and fulfilling our purpose and
if the enemy can find fault in what we're or
(18:35):
who we are and what we're doing a man, then
then the enemy can stop us from winning somebody or
someone who's who's waiting on you, waiting on me a
man to come through and to be to give them
a word that would change their life. So I wrote
this book, The Perfect Trap, so they thought, and to
(18:57):
encourage so many people who feel like you are in
the trap. Whether your trap is financial that you're feeling
like you can't get out of it, you're in debt,
and the enemy has you thinking that you'll never be
able to do what God has called you to do
because you don't have the credit, you don't have the finances.
(19:18):
I stand as a testament right now, right now, excuse
me myself, that I know God is able to do
exceedingly and abundantly above all we can ever ask for things.
I know that God is able to turn things around
a man. And the trap is that the enemy don't
want you to succeed. And also there's another trap. There's
(19:40):
another trap called fear. See, fear is one of the
main reasons why a lot of people don't move forward
in their life. While some people have yet to step
out of faith and answer the calling that is on
their lives because out of fear. Oh, I'm not good enough.
I don't speak well enough. I can't preach like Bishop TVJ.
(20:03):
I can't pray like so and so I can't I
don't know the scriptures like this person or God person. Oh,
nobody will ever listen to me, and they'll hold on
to all these fears and they will become trapped. And
the Enemy is laughing at us when we allow these
things to happen, because watch this, he has stopped what
(20:23):
God is trying to do through us. So fear finances
not only there are some traps in our lives that
are family or generational traps because of because our parents
didn't have or our grandparents didn't have. Some of us
are still living under a trap. Amen, and God a poverty. Amen.
(20:49):
And God is sending help to pull us out. Holley. Yeah,
and that's what this book was really all about. A
man people and the enemy will use people. Sorry, enemy
would use people to create a trap for us. But
God is saying, there is a rescue for those who
want to get out of your trap and watch this
(21:11):
fulfill the calling that is on your life and pacitillery.
Speaker 4 (21:16):
How do we ask Christians live our lives to see
trouble before it comes? And please share an example from
your own life experiences.
Speaker 2 (21:30):
Well, well, well, how we see trouble when they're coming?
One One, we need to have a prayer life. We
need to have a prayer life. We need to have
a strong communication with God. A man constantly praying asking
God to reveal to us traps. To a lot of
us don't see the traps because we're not praying before
(21:52):
we make a decision. A lot of us don't see
the trap because we're not praying before we get in
our cars and go somewhere. Amen, we're not. We don't
see the trials because we're not praying asking God is
this person is the right fit for me? There are
some people who have gotten some relationships that God never
intended for us to get into because we never prayed
(22:14):
about it. So the first thing you must do is
pray and ask God, God, is this the right direction
for me? And personally speaking, have I just be transparent
with you. I have gotten myself into some traps because
I didn't pray before I made a decision. I made
some decisions to do some things, to hire some people
(22:37):
and go in some directions and things like that. And
I didn't pray. I thought it was a good idea.
But guess what, it wasn't a God idea. I thought
I thought it would work out for my good and
guess what, it just brought me more trouble. And it's
because I did not pray. I didn't see when your
relationship with God, watch this. When you're related sinship of
(23:00):
God is on points, the Holy Spirit will be speaking
to you. I tell my church this all the time.
The Holy Spirit is like your greatest cheerleader. The Holy
Spirit is rooting for you to win. The Holy Spirit
is rooting for you to succeed. So whilst this, the
Holy Spirit is always leading you in the right direction.
(23:22):
But the problem is sometimes we ignore what the Holy
Spirit is speaking to us, or the direction the Holy
Ghost is pushing us. And when we sometimes you know,
when we got to make decisions, the Holy Ghost is
rooting you, rooting for you. Say you can do it,
you can, this is the direction you're supposed to go.
And sometimes we quench the Holy Spirit. Hey, you know,
(23:42):
we don't listen. And the whole and the thing is
that I love about the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit
is still there, Amen, still there, even when we make
our mistakes, He still say. You know what, pick up
your pieces. You fell in the trap. Guess what, God
still loves you. God can still bring you out. All
you got to do is just stretch your arms and
(24:04):
receive the help. And that's what I love about it.
And many times I found myself in some traps, you know,
financial traps. You know, I made some decisions. I'm transferred again.
I bought a home. It was a bad loan, and
I found myself being trapped. So God had to work
with me and I had to seek God and ask
(24:25):
God give me away out of this situation. And God
blessed me that I was able to refinance my home
and get a better deal. Amen on my house. And
to God be the gold. Because if we pray and
ask God for direction, we ask God for answers, God
will answer us every time.
Speaker 4 (24:43):
And Pastor Tillery, please help us with divine direction for
those who are in the cistern and stuck in the mud.
What briefly is the road map to freedom?
Speaker 2 (24:58):
Well, the Roman know, if I just share with you
all the road map to freedom. When you're stuck in
a place one you don't want to be. You're stuck
in a place watch this. You never plan for yourself.
You're stuck in a place where somebody else puts you
into the road map to freedom. I would call it
the road map to freedom is one. Watch this. No,
(25:23):
just know that God is not through with you. I
don't care what your situation may be. I don't care
what you're going through right now. You got to you
got to know without a shadow of doubt, this is
this is not the end of your story. This God
is not through with you. And you gotta start trusted
and believing for every word that God has spoken over
(25:44):
your life. And watch this. I'm gonna tell you how
I got out of some things. I had to pray
and remind God of his word. God, you said I'm
the head and not to tell. You said I'm above
only and never beneath. You said I'm the lender and
not to borrow. Your word told me. Your word spoke
to me that I am more than a conquerer. Your
(26:06):
word said that I can do all things through Christ
that strengthens me. Your word spoke to me and said
that there's no weapon that's formed against me, that shall prosper.
So God, where I am right now, I'm standing on
your word. And when I started to speak God's word
(26:27):
over my life, over my situation, over my circumstances, that's
when I started to feel like my help was coming.
Oh gollylujah, ay man, That's what I felt like my
help was coming when I started to speak God's word
over my life. And guess what. And the more I
spoke God's word, the more I believe that have faith
that God's gonna bring me out. Guess why. I saw
(26:49):
myself coming out of it. And I don't know who
this is for, but somebody feel like you're trapped right
now and you in a situation you don't believe that
you can get out of. J I encourage you to
start speaking God's word over your life.
Speaker 11 (27:03):
Amen.
Speaker 2 (27:04):
Just remind God of what God has said about you.
Speaker 11 (27:08):
Amen.
Speaker 2 (27:08):
God, you said you had a plan for me, a
plan to prosper me, to give me an expected in God,
a plan not to harm me. You gotta speak God's
word over your life. This is not my destiny. Hallelujah. God,
you called me for something greater than where I am
right now. And there's no weapon formed against me. Shall
(27:28):
prosper hallelujah. You got to speak God's word over your life.
And if you don't watch this, if you don't have
no word, you don't know God's word. That's what you
can't speak it. So you got to not only have
a prayer life, but not only speak God's word. You
gotta believe that thing.
Speaker 4 (27:49):
And Pastor Tillery, how do we recognize god relationships, family
members and friendships that they can will you to stop
us from completing our purpose?
Speaker 2 (28:06):
Well, the best way is to to to recognize toxic relationships.
You have to bathe everyone everything. Watch this in prayer,
my prayer, My prayer is God. If this person is
for me, let me know. If they're not for me,
(28:27):
let me know. And you got to watch this and
this is what the Lord showed me. You have to
be okay, Amen. It has to be settled in your spirit.
If so and so is not the one you need
to be connected with. Amen. There's some people, some people
you have to you can keep close to you and
(28:50):
there's some people you just have to keep a distance from.
And it's okay, Amen, you don't love them any less.
You just to stand that you just can't allow everybody,
whether they're family, whether they're friends, whether they're coworkers. And
watch this, even some folks you go to church with.
(29:12):
Because the enemy can use anybody. And that's a lot
a lot of times we don't want to believe that,
but the enemy can use anybody, amad And and I
tell my church this all the time. Don't get caught
up because people look good, they dressed up in a
three piece suit or they wearing a nice suit, two
(29:32):
piece suit with a church hat on on Sunday mornings.
Don't don't don't don't get it caught up in how
well they can shout, dance, speaking tongues and preach, singing,
play the instruments, and how how nice they are, how
big their smile is. You gotta pray it for everybody
you are in it in covenant relationship with, because the
(29:56):
enemy can use anybody, Amen. And what the enemy would do,
he will use certain people. Amen, that will push on
those buttons of your weaknesses, and before you know it,
you may end up outside of the will of God.
So sometimes you have relationships that were were people with family, friends,
(30:19):
and as you need to bathe all those relationships in prayer,
because some of those people can watch this create a
trap for you and you'll find yourself outside of the
will of God.
Speaker 4 (30:33):
I got and Pasty Tillery. Is there anything else about
this topic or your book that you would like to
leave with the listeners at this time as we come
to a close.
Speaker 2 (30:48):
Well, please, I ask everybody please get the book and
read it for yourself because it's it's so important, Amen,
that you understand that to watch this. And i'm'a say this,
I hope nobody get offended by this, but this is
me speaking to you from my heart to you. I
want you to know that the enemy does not like you. Man,
the enemy does not like you. He don't want you
(31:10):
to succeed. He don't want you to use your gifts.
He don't want you to use the the anointing on
your life to help others, to lead others to Christ.
He don't like you. And the truth and the truth
of the matter is that the enemy hates you. Every
time you preach, every time you sing, every time God
(31:31):
uses you, the enemy hates that you are being used. Amen.
So you have to watch this. You have to understand
that the enemy is going to set a trap for you.
If the trap has not happened already, guess what it's
going to happen. Because the Bible says in John ten
and ten that the enemy comes to do what to steal, kill,
(31:56):
and destroy because there is an anointing on your life,
my brothers and my sisters. The enemy wants to steal,
He wants to kill and destroy you because why he
does not want you to succeed. So he's going to
create a trap for you. But the good news, Good God, nobody,
here's the good news that watch this. God is sending help,
(32:20):
Holly Loujah. God is sending someone to help get you out.
God is sending this book to help bring you out.
God is sending your pastor to help bring you out.
God is sending you help. God is not going to
leave you in a place where you can starve, where
you can drown, where you can die. God is bringing
(32:41):
you out because there is a purpose and there's a
calling on your life to fulfill. And I'm believing right now,
somebody's who's hearing this podcast. Right now, God is reminding
you that he still has a plan for your life.
And no matter where you are, God said, I'm bringing you.
Oh Wow, so that you can fulfill what God has
(33:03):
started in you. God bless you, hollelujah, and thank them.
Speaker 4 (33:08):
When we are faced with set traps of the enemy,
we must stand with courage, rely on God's faithfulness. Remember
there is a bigger cost for disobedience. Remember the power
of intercession and agreement, and we must trust God's plan.
(33:33):
Pastor Tillery, please tell us about the music being featured
during this podcast. We opened up with Eyewall Bluff and

know we don't have many choirs, but the I believe
a choir is coming back. Haller Lujasha, Amen a and
(34:09):
I'm excited to uh present this new music to the world. Amen.
To help choirs sing these songs. Amen to that we're
a encourage, uplift and edify the body of Christ. The
first song, I Will Bless is a song that celebrates
all the goodness that God has done for us, giving
(34:30):
God our best praise, clapping our hands, singing our song
in a dance with our voice. We're we we're celebrating
the goodness of God through this song and then the
song the other song is just Wait, Hollylujiah. This song
is to encourage everybody, Amn, who's who's waiting on God
to do something in your life. Amen, know that God
(34:52):
here's your prayers. Amen. Uh uh and he he he
he hears your calls. Amen. And I'm reminded of Holly
used to say it. Apostle back in the day. They
used to say, Uh, he may not come when you want,
but he's always on time. So just wait on the
Lord and be of good carriage, Amen, and he will
(35:13):
strengthen your heart.
