point seven. Centoria Black, Brother Sentoria Black, Welcome to Let's
Talk to the Lord.

Speaker 7 (05:45):
Well, thank you so much.

Speaker 10 (05:46):
It is an honor and a pleasure to be on
with you today and I want to welcome everybody listening
across the world, and we want to thank everybody for
all their support.

Speaker 8 (05:56):
And before we begin our discussion, please tell the King
the more about you. Who is Thanoria Black? Well?

Speaker 10 (06:06):
You know, I'm from a One, Wisconsin. It's a town
that sits right on the border of Wisconsin and Illinois.

Speaker 7 (06:12):
I grew up there and.

Speaker 10 (06:13):
Moved to Louisiana when I was eighteen, went to Grambling
State University and got two degrees there and started a family.

Speaker 7 (06:20):
My wife and I we've been married almost thirty years,
it'll be thirty in July. We're going to turn fifty
this year as well.

Speaker 10 (06:26):
And you know, just one of those types of people
that loves life, loves to help people, and also just
an individual who just enjoys being around my family and
enjoy just enjoying life.

Speaker 7 (06:40):
So I ain't hurting too much.

Speaker 10 (06:43):
Love sports obviously been in it for a long time.
I probably since I was fifteen years old. Love radio
been doing that for a long time as well. But
you know, I'm just really some simplistic person. Doesn't take
a lot for me to just enjoy myself. Sometimes it's
just the simple things. It's just quiet that we're help
me out. The other times I like going and join
time that you know, different events of my family. So

(07:05):
just a really down the person who loves life.

Speaker 8 (07:09):
And brother the Centurion, please tell the kingdom about the
Weekend Praise Party and share a little of your radio journey.

Speaker 10 (07:18):
So the Weekend Praise Party was founded about six and
a half years ago. Originally I was going to be
doing another show and had all the plans for it
and all of the things that I was going to
do for it, and God said he needed me to
do something else, and I can tell you the.

Speaker 7 (07:32):
Story about that later. But the show really it does
a couple of different things.

Speaker 10 (07:36):
He liked to encourage, inspire, and educate. Those are our
mantras encourage, inspire, and educate. Of course, we love to
play great music if we love to entertain, but you know,
our main thing is is that through the music, we
hope that we inspire you. We hope that we encourage
you as well. We have a lot of great guests
on our show, from independent artists to authors, television hosts,

(08:01):
so we've had state We've have governors on. We do
a lot in order to make sure we inform people
about the great things going on. And one of these
segments that I'm extremely proud of is called the Sunday Dinner,
and it goes back to something that you know, my
family and I you share during the holidays and on Sundays,
especially where the family would get together and we would
share great memories and also we had great food, and

(08:21):
so we talked about.

Speaker 7 (08:22):
Full family and faith.

Speaker 10 (08:23):
During the Sunday dinner. We talk about everything from smokers,
the tailgate parties, the fried chick into all kinds of things.
And so the weekend praise party is great. We love
to inspire, we love.

Speaker 7 (08:34):
To entertain and educate. So that's how it was found
it six years six and a half years ago.

Speaker 8 (08:39):
And brother Black, please count the kingdom when and where
Christ found you and share a little of your journey
to relationship with our Lord and Savior Christ Jesus.

Speaker 7 (08:55):
Twelve.

Speaker 10 (08:55):
So, first of all, you know, when I look at
my walk, there was a concert that was going on
one day and my wife was a part of the
choir called the Strong Tower Gospel Corral, and there was.

Speaker 7 (09:06):
A song that they were singing, and I was really really.

Speaker 10 (09:08):
Frustrated with what was going on in my life. I
really was unhappy. I didn't understand my purpose, my walk.

Speaker 7 (09:16):
And so there was a song that was saying something.

Speaker 10 (09:18):
About the choir called week Salty and every Need Shell
viow by the La Mass Choir, and it just it
got me balling like a three year old. I mean,
I just God really touched me. He helped me to
understand some things about my life.

Speaker 7 (09:31):
And you know, that was the beginning.

Speaker 10 (09:33):
I certainly wasn't you know, all of a sudden there
though a Holy roll or anything like that by ever
any stretch of the imagination. And so we went on,
and there was a lot of things that went on
in my life and I knew who God was. But
I'll tell you six and a half years ago, when
the Weekend Praise Party was founded, God showed me what

(09:54):
my purpose was supposed to be. I was doing a
lot of different things, a lot of different radio shows,
and I had.

Speaker 7 (10:00):
A radio show all set up. I had money for it, I.

Speaker 10 (10:03):
Had sponsored I had stations that were gonna do it,
festivals that were gonna support me. And the week that
I was going to launch, God said, and I need
you to put this on pause, and I need you
to do this. And it was, you know, there was
the idea in the concept of the weekend praise party.

Speaker 7 (10:19):
And you know, just by chance, I was just.

Speaker 10 (10:22):
Putting me in a gospel show because the students that
I had at that time, they did a great job
of gospel on our online station on campus. I just
do on a gospel show just to have people listen
to the station. And I got a call one day
from Separate Bailey and he said, man, you really need
to do a gospel show. I said, now, I'm not
gonna go vo go church trop. I ain't gonna do it.
I was stubborn. I said nope, I got something already

(10:42):
and did that. And then all of a sudden, you know,
God said, well, look I.

Speaker 7 (10:47):
Need you to do this.

Speaker 10 (10:48):
I need you And I was like, nope, God ain't
gonna vocoe these church vot I got money weights. That
money was on the death to one of the sponsors.
It was about seventy five hundred dollars. And I had
these stations all lined up, and I mean everything was
all good. God says, well, I'm not telling you not
to do it. I'm just saying I need you to
do this person.

Speaker 7 (11:04):
And I said, no, I ain't doing it me.

Speaker 10 (11:05):
And you cool, God, but we ain't talking the same
language right now. I don't understand that because that money.
We need that money. And so the first night I
didn't sleep and got up and I said, God, while
you playing. And so the second night I didn't sleep,
I said God, why are you playing? And he just says,
I need you to do this. I'm not telling you
not to do that show.

Speaker 7 (11:22):
I'm telling you I.

Speaker 10 (11:23):
Need you to do this.

Speaker 8 (11:24):
I need you to do this work.

Speaker 7 (11:25):
And so I said, look, God, if you let me
just go to sleep. It was a Thursday night.

Speaker 10 (11:29):
I was going I was supposed to go pick up
the sponsorship.

Speaker 7 (11:31):
Check on Friday.

Speaker 10 (11:33):
And that Thursday night, I said, God, if you let
me go to sleep, I'll tell my sponsors that I
can't do the show right now.

Speaker 7 (11:39):
In twenty minutes, I was knocked out.

Speaker 10 (11:41):
And at that point he started me learning what my
purpose was really supposed to be.

Speaker 7 (11:47):
Said, I was.

Speaker 10 (11:48):
Operating at my preference and not my purpose. And so
all of a sudden, in that purpose, I said, Okay, God,
I'm gonna try this. I'm telling God what to do.

Speaker 7 (11:56):
How crazy is that?

Speaker 10 (11:58):
And so I said, God, if this don't work in
this time frame, I'm gonna go back what I was
gonna do, and so here comes Thanksgiving.

Speaker 7 (12:04):
The show and doing well.

Speaker 10 (12:04):
At first money was coming in and then all sudden
it just dried up. And so I said, okay, God,
I told you that my timeline. And I was on
my way to teach a class on campus and I
have been trying to get an artist on my platforms
for four and a half years. And I got a
call that was sitting there that morning when I was
going to campus. It was before my nine o'clock class
I was about to teach, and on the phone was

(12:26):
Fred Hammon, and Fred Hammon said, brother, this is Fred Hanton.

Speaker 7 (12:29):
How you doing man? I'm sorry, man.

Speaker 10 (12:30):
I know he's supposed to connect a long time ago.
And I got your number from Al Wah who was
the director of the State Fair Classic.

Speaker 7 (12:35):
And I couldn't believe it.

Speaker 10 (12:37):
I was like, tred having you've called it.

Speaker 7 (12:39):
I was looking at my cell phone like is this real?

Speaker 10 (12:41):
So I said, okay, God, I get it.

Speaker 11 (12:42):
I get it.

Speaker 10 (12:44):
That one call taught me.

Speaker 7 (12:46):
I was like, you know what, this is your purpose.
And so it hasn't always been the.

Speaker 10 (12:52):
Future than cream, but it has definitely been great. I
mean things that I never thought I would do. The
first year, I said, there's no way I can go
to Distellar Awards. And people helped me and worked it
out and we were able to go to the Distellar Awards.
We won three awards our first year and just learned
a lot of out purpose and God has really been
helping me with that. And so that's that walk.

Speaker 7 (13:15):
There those these six and a half years.

Speaker 10 (13:18):
It wasn't about that I didn't have a relationship with Christ,
but it.

Speaker 7 (13:22):
Was about the purpose.

Speaker 10 (13:24):
And so when I started operating in my purpose and
not my preference, things started changing.

Speaker 8 (13:30):
And what is your calling and purpose in the Body
of Christ and in the Kingdom of God.

Speaker 10 (13:38):
My purpose is to help people, and not only to
help people, but it's to spread the word of God
through music on the radio. One of the things that
I really listened to when I listened to music kids,
how does it touching? How does the music touching? How
do the words touching? Whether it's Christian hip hop, whether
it's Acquire or at how does that song touch and

(14:02):
how are people listening to that?

Speaker 7 (14:05):
And through the radio show, through what I have now
and what God.

Speaker 10 (14:08):
Has blessed me with, I have also been able to
understand that I was also supposed to share the opportunity
for other people to talk about their walk with Christ,
because I'm a firm believer that if you talk to
somebody on the other side, what you find out.

Speaker 7 (14:26):
Is that their walk for Christ could be very similar to.

Speaker 10 (14:28):
The things that you may be going through and dealing with.

Speaker 7 (14:31):
And if we can really connect with.

Speaker 10 (14:33):
One another through our challenges and through the things that
we have gone through, we also connect with one another
through the Spirit. And so my purpose in life is
to really help people to spread the word by music
on the air and to encourage people to come to Christ.

Speaker 8 (14:52):
A man, a man, and a man again. After black,
please announce our topic, begin our discussion, and let's go
to the Word of God.

Speaker 10 (15:10):
So you know, I'm a big sports nuts and I
have been announcing US sports on the radio and now
television for the better part of thirty years now. And
through all of the things that I've had the opportunity
to do and going to Gramling State University, I've had
a chance to travel the country. I've had a chance
to do things in life, and so one of the

(15:30):
things that I've thought about in all of the things
that i've done. I've had to have patience in the
game of life. Now that's our topic. Say, it's patience
in the game of life, and that is so important
for us to understand why we need to have patience,
because the game of life doesn't last just one quarter
or one play or one series, doesn't last one half,

(15:50):
it doesn't last one period like in hockey, but it's
an entire game. It's patience throughout the game of life.
And sometimes we don't get what we want to in
the first quarter of life. You know, God says we
may not be ready for it. And so one of
the things that I look at in the game of
life is Romans twelve and twelve where it says be
jointulin hope, patient and affliction, faithful in prayer. And you know,

(16:13):
when you're going through the game of life, you're going
to have things that happen to you, and you're going
to have challenges that are in front of you. And
it's so important to understand that your faith and prayer
life is really important to make sure that you stand strong.
You know, when athletes go out into the field or

(16:33):
to the basketball court or to the baseball diamond, they
have to do conditioning, they just don't start the season.
They have to condition and get to the point where
they're practicing competitively. And so in order to be conditioned,
that's where our prayer life happens.

Speaker 7 (16:49):
That's where our faith happens.

Speaker 10 (16:52):
And so when we pray to God and we ask
them for I need more faith, this is not going
to give you faith. He's going to give you things
to test for faith. In the game of life. When
you say you need strengths, He's not just going to
give you strength. He's going to do things to test
your strength. So in that sense, we may think that, man,
why am I getting challenged so much? But you're actually

(17:12):
getting your prayers answered, and those things that you do
with your prayer life, with reading the Word, with your faith,
you're building up. Now you're conditioning yourself. And so now
when you start getting into the game and you're practicing
those things, those things now will help you in your
strength and in your hope, because you know, when you're

(17:33):
going through a lot of different things, if you practice,
if you've done the things well in conditioning, you're going
to have challenges and you may even lose a game
here and there, But that doesn't mean you have to
lose the entire game of life. And so when you
start looking at some of the challenges that you may have,
let they have three things.

Speaker 8 (17:50):
You know.

Speaker 10 (17:51):
Another verse that I had was Romans five and three
through five. And we also glory in our sufferings because
we know that something produces perseverance.

Speaker 7 (18:02):
Perseverance, character, and character hope.

Speaker 10 (18:06):
So when you start looking at that perseverance and being
able to get through those challenges, that's where that conditioning
is coming through. And so now God is testing you.
And now in the game of life, you may be
in a situation where like I was, Hey, this is
that money over there is called him, and now I
need to get that because my family needs it. But

(18:26):
that right there is a is a competition. That is
something that's going to contest you. He's throwing all kinds
of different plays that you in order for you to
take that take that opportunity. He has unthrown this and that,
and he says, man, if you do this, you're gonna
store a touchdown. But sometimes what happens is you don't
know what the defense is doing, and the defense may
get into your backfield because you you are concentrating so

(18:49):
much on the long play, trying to score that touchdown
like I was trying to get that money, that you're
not concentrating on the perseverance through play by play action
that can get you to the next point. And so
I want to encourage everybody that through the game of life,
through that perseverance that fills that character, fills that hope.
Like it says in Romans, one of the things I

(19:09):
want people to do is learn that sometimes you're not
ready for the long play. You're not ready to throw
that ball all the way down the field. Sometimes you
got to take play by play to get down the
field because God is building your strength and breaking down
the defense. So if you start listening to God and
break down that defense, you'll find that you'll move down

(19:30):
the field. And hey, it doesn't mean you're not gonna
get sacked in the backfield. It doesn't mean that you're
not gonna have your shot blocks. But what it does
mean is that doesn't mean that you quit. There was
a great quote that Rob Broadway, who was a former
coach at Gramley. He coached that North Carolina A and
T that he had, and he says, you know, if
make a play, you keep playing. If you don't make

(19:50):
a play and you miss, you keep playing.

Speaker 7 (19:53):
But the main thing that you have to.

Speaker 10 (19:54):
Do in the game of life is keep playing. And
so no matter what God throws at you to have
to get to where you need to, you have to
have patience through the game of life. And that may
mean bringing the football and sometimes that's not electrifying, that
doesn't wild the crowd because you've got four yards or
five yards of the carriage, but you're moving the ball
down the fields and that's what you and sometimes God

(20:16):
wants to know, can you move the way I'm moving
in order to bring down this defense. So, no matter
what you're dealing with in life, if you're dealing with
issues in your if you're dealing with the finance, if
you're dealing with issues with advices that you have got
play by play and know that you're going to get
sacked sometimes and that's okay, But your character it continues

(20:38):
to build because you know that through perseverance and hope
and faith you're training and your conditioning with reading the
Word and understanding God will carry you through the game
of life and have patience through the game of life.
So that's what my thing is that I was given

(20:58):
an opportunity with thands of dollars on the table. It
was a long play, and I knew that I had
that play, and God said, hey, I need you to
run run the ball two three.

Speaker 7 (21:09):
Yards at the time.

Speaker 10 (21:10):
And while we may not understand that, God has sought
something in me way down the road, and because of
it we have a great radio show. God has blessed
opportunity to know some great people in the gospel industry.
We've been really honored to cover so many great events,
to know so many great people. But more importantly, we've

(21:31):
been able to network with the Kingdom of God. And
this opportunity here is a prime example of when sometimes
when you pass short and you run short.

Speaker 7 (21:40):
You don't go deep. You get to the finish line,
you get to the end.

Speaker 10 (21:45):
Zone, and you score the winning basket. So I just
encourage everybody to have patience through the game of life.
Take it play by play, and if God tells you
to go deep, go deep. But if he's telling you
keep that short game going, do what he says because
you never know why it's telling you not to throw.

Speaker 11 (22:03):
That long pass.

Speaker 7 (22:05):
So have patience through the game of life.

Speaker 8 (22:10):
Kingdom our topic for discussion for this episode is Patience
through the Game of Life, Kingdom. As I research the
etymology of patience, I learned that patience originally meant one
who suffers, then translated to the word patior meanings to

(22:36):
suffer or to endure. Patience also means to be able
to accept or tolerate delays, problems, or suffering without becoming
annoyed or anxious. The Bible declares patience as a fruit
of the Spirit. That means patience is a divine gift

(22:57):
given by God through the Holy Spirit. In this episode,
we are discussing patience through the Game of Life. Kingdom.
Saying life is a game can mean that life has
rules and objectives with different ways to win. Keep in
mind this is a quote or a saying that some

(23:20):
people use to describe the process of successes and failures
that come with life. I personally see and have lived
this saying as it parallels discovering God, accepting Christ as Savior,
repenting of sins, and begin to walk out the remainder

(23:41):
of my life by God's word, our blueprint, blood and breath,
empowered by the Holy Ghost. Kingdom. Being patient through the
game of life can be a phrase used with or
without gone. For the Bible declare and Matthew five forty five,

(24:02):
where He maketh the sun to rise on the evil
and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just
and on the unjust. However, I want to lean toward
with God, because with God we will have eternal life.
With Your success in this life without Him is eternal damnation. Remember,

(24:29):
no matter how successful you become in your life, everything
you have achieved will be left here when your life ends.
But how glorious to leave from success here on earth
to gain a greater reward and mansion not made by

(24:49):
human hands, but prepared by God himself. Kingdom and Luke
fifteenth chapter. The tenth verse declares, Even so, I tell
you there is joy among and in the presence of
the angels of God over one, especially a wicked person

(25:10):
who repents meaning changes his mind for the better, heartily
amending his ways from abhorrence of his past sins. Abhorrence
means a feeling of repulsion discussed or loathing and repentance.
I declare to the listeners that, rather than a game,

(25:34):
that we live a life by faith Kingdom. Rather you
live life as a game or in disobedience thin or rebellion.
There are going to be consequences for wrong decisions. So
repentance is key because if we confess our sins, God

(25:54):
is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and
cleanse us from all righteousness. The Bible declares that gifts
and callings are without repentance, So please honor God in
fighte God into your life and the revealing of your purpose.
Take your gifts to God and allow him to direct

(26:19):
your past kingdom. Life will always have challenges, sicknesses, hard
time struggles, but it's so much greater to overcome by
the blood of the Lamb Jesus. And I can affirm
with you that accomplishing seems so much better sooner rather

(26:39):
than later. And it seems sometimes in some situations God
takes forever and too long. But I also have had
to say that many days I have said I wish
I knew then what I have learned now, and louse

(27:00):
in my music, Bible, revelation and in life period. Sometimes
bumping your head and learning from your mistakes can make
you so much better, especially if you allow God to
crush the cycles. You can become better to the point
you will almost find yourself, saying that it was good

(27:24):
that I was afflicted, meaning if God would have given
me success too fast, I would have lost it all
or made very tragic mistakes. I want to end starting
after the eleventh verse of the same chapter verse eleven.

(27:44):
And he said there was a certain man who had
two sons verse twelve. And the younger of them said
to his father, father, give me the part of the
property that falls to me, and he divided the estate
between them verse thirteen. And not many days after that,
the younger son gathered up all he had and journeyed

(28:07):
into a distant country. And then he wasted his fortune
in reckless and loose from unrestrained living verse fourteen. And
when he had spent all he had, a mighty famine
came upon that country, and he began to fall behind
and be in want. Famine denotes the trials of life

(28:30):
and demonic attack or a divine judgment verse fifteen. So
he went and forced himself upon one of the citizens
of that country, who sent him into his fills to
feed hanks connotating someone is being treated as if they
are worthless or insignificant, or a person being degraded verse

(28:54):
sixteen and he would gladly have said on and filled
his not only with carrbs pods that the hogs were eating,
but they could not satisfy his hunger, and nobody gave
him anything better. Here, Kingdom, we are talking about bondage, blindness,

(29:17):
and being in spiritual bondage like Barnibaas verse seventeen. Then
he came to himself, and he said, how many higher
servants of my father have enough food and food to spair,
But I am perishing, dying here of hunger verse eighteen.

(29:38):
I will get up and go to my father, and
I will say to him, father, I have sinned against heaven,
and in your sight verse nineteen, I am no longer
worthy to be called your son. Just make me like
one of your hired servants. Verse twenty. So he got
up and came to his own father. But while he

(30:01):
was still a long way off, his father saw him
and was moved with pity and tenderness for him, and
he ran and embraced him and kissed him verse twenty one.
And the son said to him, father, I have sinned
against heaven, and in your sight, I am no longer

(30:23):
worthy to be called your son verse twenty two. But
the father said to his bond servants, bring quickly the
best robe, the robe of honor, and put it on him,
and give him a ring for his hand, and samples
for his feet Verse twenty three. And bring out that

(30:43):
fat and calf and kill it, and let us revel
and feast and be happy, and make marry. This kingdom
is a example of patience through the game of life.
We come to yourself talking about the God consciousness is

(31:05):
a wicked and we repent and oday and return to God.
Brother Sentorion Black, please give the final words on our
topic of discussion, patience through the game of life.

Speaker 10 (31:24):
Well, thank you very much. What I would want to
share with everybody is this is that life is so precious,
where our life represents a vapor and we don't know
that our clock is going to sound the alarm, and
our alarm did what alarm is going to be thousand
and so one of the things that I want to

(31:46):
encourage everybody to do is day by day, enjoy your life,
live life to the fullest, and do so through.

Speaker 7 (31:57):
The word of God.

Speaker 10 (31:59):
God has been there for me in ways that I
couldn't even tell you, even when I wasn't looking out
for myself. God was looking out for me, and so
I would just encourage everybody build up your conditioning and
that way, when you get into the game, you are
already already practiced and you've already done the deeds that
you are supposed to do by going to church and

(32:21):
reading the word and understanding the words and building your
faith and building your hope, and so continue to condition
yourself so when you get in the game, you are
ready to play the game of life.
