Speaker 1 (00:20):
Hey, Varsity Squad, Welcome back to another powerful edition of
Level of Conversations with Coach Fergy with Time to Shine
Today Coaching. I'm your host Scott for Examplessed to be

soaked to bring you high performers, but are not just

(00:42):
chasing and attaining success, but we're defining it through providing
above and beyond service and Squad welcome back. I just
have a really quick like every week, a really quick
knowledge nugget, and a lot of people are talking like
work life balance balance balance, balance balance is junk. Balance
is when you're dead. You have picture a scale ten
pounds one side, ten pounds on the other. It's just

(01:02):
evens out. What we want to go for is harmony.
Me and my fiance Susan, we love jazz when we
go to watch jazz bands, and what I do is
I kind of say, listen, like the drums might be
your god or spiritual you know, the piano might be
your personal relationships, your money might be the horns, and
on and on through different pillars of life. If one
of them's out of tune, then you get with someone

(01:23):
like me or the big guess I'm about to bring
on and you kind of level it up, harmonize that
you want that balance within the harmony, and then it
comes to sounding great. You don't have to be Beethoven,
you don't have to be Eddie van Halen, you don't
have to be Louis Armstrong or anybody that's really great
at it. You just have to get it into harmony.
And then again talking about harmony, let's get ready to
level all the way up, get ready to lock in.

(01:44):
You're about to meet a true powerhouse in the world
of leadership and transformation. My good friend, doctor Lily Fink,
is the CEO of Executive Coach three p sixty, But
titles alone don't tell the story. She's a trailblazer with
over twenty years of high impact experience guiding leaders across
corporate boardrooms, government agencies, and academic institutions. Her superpower unlocking
your lead performance by shifting how people lead from the

(02:05):
inside out. She's not just an executive coach. She's a
behavioral architect whold reshapes teams, rebuilds cultures, and rig nexts
purpose at every level of any organization. If you're a manager,
a leader, or someone who knows you're meant for more,
this is your wake up call. So grab the notepad,
sit back, relask, because doctor Lilly is here to drop
some wisdom that just might change the way you show

(02:26):
up in life and leadership. And doctor liv thank you
so much for coming into studio. I'm so blessed. My
awesome fiance Susan put us together over a lunch one time,
and I think it was supposed to be an hour
and we were there for two and a half. That's
what rapping about business and stuff like that. But welcome
to the show.

Speaker 3 (02:40):
Perfect example of the powerful networking that's right, thanks exactly.
You never know who you're going to meet. You never
know where it's going to lead, right, un sent never
thank you so much for having me. I'm very excited.

Speaker 1 (02:51):
Yeah. So what has been going on in the coaching
and consulting world.

Speaker 3 (02:55):
Well, it's been busy, It's been interesting, right. I tell
you what I have seen a lot of lately is,
you know, want individuals that want to move from where
they are to where they need to be. And it's
that gap, that middle gap, that one gap. We all
have that one gap, and it's like, well, how do
I fill that gap? All that mindset?

Speaker 1 (03:16):
So in an era of kind of like rapid change,
how do you find kind of effective leadership equalities you
believe are essential to thrive today within the people that
you're coaching.

Speaker 3 (03:26):
Being authentic, authentic, absolutely, being real, unpacked that more. You know,
I authenticity is the key to success, right, it really is.
I've worked with so many great people who have lost
that track. We've lost that mindset of being am I authentic.
They get so busy what they're doing that they forget

(03:46):
that there are other people around them that they work with, right,
and that they're trying to level up as well, and
they lose that that spirit of being authentic being real, right.
And that's one thing that I really focused on when
I work with some of my clients is bring them
back to basics. And that's where we keep talking about
mindset shift, the difference between a fixed mindset to a
growth mindset. There's something in the middle. And you know

(04:09):
all about.

Speaker 1 (04:10):
That absolutely, yeah, you know, especially blessed with the athletes,
professional athletes or amateur athletes that I coach, it's big
with them because they'll fall into slumps and we bring there,
we shift their mindset back to we we push them
ahead four or five years in their brain and say,
I'm going to look look back at yourself now, and
if you're at the top of the podium of four

(04:31):
or five years, is the guy that you're looking at
now doing what he needs to do? Did he get
back to basics? Then you have to do what he
had to do. So like that's where really mind shift,
mindset shift goes because I have to be kind of
heading a little kid gloves, especially with the CEOs I
work with, and you know, and stuff like that. And
I know that you're big into mindset shifts, and so
if you're kind of in a discovery session with somebody

(04:53):
that wants to bring you on as their coach or consultant,
you know, and you're having that discovery conversation, make sure
the right horse for the court right for them. What
is some of your secret sauce doc that you used
to maybe help them shine a light light on that
initial blind spot?

Speaker 3 (05:08):
Reversing the mirror?

Speaker 1 (05:09):
Love it. I know exactly what you're talking about, but
the people out there need to hear that.

Speaker 3 (05:14):
It's refers to you know, when was the last time
that you really sat down and took that mirror looked
at yourself. No, it's not good.

Speaker 1 (05:19):
You love right?

Speaker 3 (05:20):
What's inside right Again, It's a lot of work to
shift that mindset and to look at yourself and say, Okay,
I've been so busy in doing what I'm doing, and
I'm forgetting what's important right. People are important. Of course,
family is important. We all know that, right. But when
I'm working with the leaders in organizations and they say, okay,
I can't communicate anymore. Something's missing, Or a CEO comes

(05:44):
to someone who is a manager or a senior manager
and says, look, you've got some communication issues, and I
come in, I'm like, why do you think you've got
these communication issues. What is it that you're missing. You're
not communicating from the heart, You're not being authentic. So
the mindset shift and the reversing the mirror is powerful.
It's not easy, No, it is not.

Speaker 1 (06:03):
Sometimes they don't like what they see it first.

Speaker 3 (06:05):
No, so what do you do about it? You're just
going to stay the way you are. You're going to
move forward.

Speaker 1 (06:09):
You're going to do something in the put your head
in the sand and wake up a year for now'd
be exactly where you were. The only thing that's going
to change is the books that you read and the
people that you meet, right, and you're never going to
meet those you know.

Speaker 3 (06:18):
I have a saying, I give you all these books,
and all you do is eat the covers. You know,
I can give you all this reading in the world,
but all you doing is eating a cover is and
that doesn't work for me. And I'm very specific, I'm
very I have a method. If I meet with a
potential coach, eat and I think you and I have

(06:39):
talked about this is I go in and I ask
questions to see if it's going to be a good match,
because the last thing that I want to do is
waste my time, your time, your money or the company's
mart I want to be in it to win it.
I want to be in it to make a difference,
not just meet but for them. If there's something about
and you know you're a coach as well, there's something

(07:00):
about raising that level of awareness. Sure when you see
that spark in that connection, and a lot of it
has got to do with mindset. You know, twenty one
days to break a habit, twenty one days to bring
that habit back into your life.

Speaker 1 (07:11):
Yeah, and a lot of people say, well, you know,
I'll get some clients to be you know, we have
to level up their health as well, and you know
they'll maybe be a little bit overweight, you know, for
their frame and the doctor said, you need to do something,
but they want to lose that fast. And one of
the questions that kind of hurts a little bit, but
it's holding that mirror is you know, kind of saying,
did it take you a month to get to where

(07:32):
we're at? You know, when they're not the high blood
pressure stuff like that. So you got to give it time.
Inchpin incials a cent right by the art. It's hard.
We're going to work together. I'm going to hold you accountable.
So you mentioned the question like you're going to ask
the question, is there any good question that you wish
they would ask you but never do during the initial
coaching conversation.

Speaker 3 (07:54):
You know that's a good question. Yeah, at first, they
don't know where to go with it, right, you know,
and it's all about discovery. You've got to really want
to do it if you're in it, because your boss
tells you you need to get If your boss question
what you just said. So when your boss comes in

(08:14):
or whoever and says, look, you know your team is
saying you're being you're not effective enough, right, Okay, we
need to get your coach. Well wait, wait a minute, right,
you've got to you've got to be the co sponsor
for that person. You've got to help them first because
if you don't, forget it. And one thing, I will
not coach someone that's being brought in as an exit strategy. Right,

(08:35):
So if if an executive comes up to me it
says i'd like you to coach this individual, my first
question is is this exit. If it's part of an
exit strategy, I'm not your coach. Could you imagine you
go through coaching for six months and then they say, oh,
you know what, you didn't really change. Didn't change because
you're trying to make them change him or her change, right,
because they want to change.

Speaker 1 (08:54):
You make a great point with that because like myself,
I'm blessed to have a few employees and I train them,
I pay for their training, I pay for I want
to get them so good that they feel that they
can leave. But I'm going to treat them so good
that they don't want to. I don't want And that's
the thing. A lot of companies they don't do that
way you just said. They're like they're looking for that
exit strategy. But then, speaking of that, so you get

(09:16):
brought into some like pretty influential companies on Palm Beach, right,
And so you're brought in there, like you know, the
CEO or the owner of the company brings you in
and they're all aboard for you. But you're going to
have that person that's not a little above mid level,
like kind of an executive. Yep, dude, what is going on?
Why is this woman coming in here and coaching us?

(09:37):
How do you get them aboard within within your program?
Because once one bad seat can be that cancer that
spreads throughout the company, right, So what is your process?
Because I'm going to learn here because I'm running into
it from you, you know, so what do you what
do you kind of do?

Speaker 3 (09:52):
You're going back to what I said being authentic, and
I always speak with them first, sure, because I'm like,
do you know why I'm here? Let's say I'm coaching you.
Do you know why I'm here?

Speaker 1 (10:02):
Right?

Speaker 3 (10:02):
Well? Yeah, apparently you know I need to work on
some team building. Okay, whatever the scenario is, Okay, right,
how do you feel about that? Do you feel that
you're going to be wasting your time with me? I
am very blunt.

Speaker 1 (10:14):
I love that and they need that.

Speaker 3 (10:16):
It's the reversing the mirror methodology. And I'm like, I'm
going to like, okay, well this is what I hear
from the sponsor, and you tell me what you think, right,
and then you have you can't do it overnight, as
you know, so it's increments and I'm like, Okay, here's
here's the deal. Here's what we've got, here's what's going
to work on. We're going to work on. Let's say
it's team building, communication, whatever it is.

Speaker 1 (10:37):
Gotcha.

Speaker 3 (10:38):
We're going to talk about your top three goals are
you willing to commit? And I have said this before
because if you're not, it was nice meeting, you have
a great day, and you know you might be looking
for a job in six months, three months, three years,
who knows. But if you don't take accountability and do
something to get your team the way that your team
needs to be treated, then you're going to be where

(10:59):
we are again. And I'm not going to waste my time,
my money, your time, in the company's money, because I'll
be straight up and I'll tell you right you can
take it. You don't have to take it. And I
have a favorite saying, what is the cost of doing nothing?

Speaker 1 (11:11):
It's a lot, and you're kind of doing the little
deep dive and venting you out a little bit. Like
emotional intelligence a part of your coaching is huge. So
how does emotional intelligence factor into your, say, coaching methodology
and why do you feel it's critical for leadership development?

Speaker 3 (11:29):
It is so critical? Okay, I'm let me use an
example to which I did yesterday. Sure it's kind of
out there. Okay, So you report to CEO whoever, and
we get so caught up in the everyday activity that
we forget that we are not alone, there are other people.
So someone comes in when of your employees says, can't
come in today, my dog. I had to put my

(11:50):
dog down. Now for the dog lovers out there, you
get it right, right, right? So the CEO or the
manager says, oh, sorry to hear that, but I still
need you in a date.

Speaker 1 (11:59):
Right.

Speaker 3 (12:00):
Emotional intelligence is put yourself The key is in that
moment to put yourself emotionally in that is that scenario
and say, oh my gosh, I'm so sorry. Please take
the you know, take the time that you need.

Speaker 1 (12:13):
Right.

Speaker 3 (12:14):
That is the perfect example of high level of emotion intelligence.
I know, it's it's minute epath it right, that's and
that's what I talked yesterday, actually all day about that.
It's it's it's understanding the emotion of another what they're
going through. Sure, yeah, they work, they do a great job,
but there are individuals as well and they have feelings.
Emotional intelligence, you know, it's been talked about for years. Absolutely,

(12:34):
come on, emotional intelligence. Some people are tired of hearing
about it. They're tired of hearing the EI AI whatever
right right, EI, and what's going on with all that?
They're tired of hearing about it, but you shouldn't be
sure however you tag it. It's being authentic. It's going
back to the basics, right. That's interesting. You brought emotional intelligence.

Speaker 1 (12:51):
This is this is just amazing conversation squad, and we're
going to take a break and hear our mortgage update
of the week from a really good friend and sponsor,
Steve Austin. We come back, We're going to dig into
a little bit more of the methodologies and also get
to know doctor Lilly from a personal side.

Speaker 4 (13:08):
Thanks Scott.

Speaker 1 (13:09):
Happy Saturday everyone.

Speaker 4 (13:10):
Steve Austin with the Revolution Mortgage Dynamic team here with
your mortgage market update for the week of May twelfth.
This week started out a little rocky with the announcement
of the China tariffs having a ninety day pause that
caused a dip in mortgage bonds. We did, however, finish
the week on an upward swing as we got some
helpful economic data and are now seeing the bond market
back in line with where it was last week. I

(13:31):
think it's a good sign of the quick recovery the
market had this week and also a good feeling to
finish on an upswing. We are seeing buyer activity pick
up with sellers being more open to negotiations. If you've
been on the fence about getting into the game, now
feels like a great time.

Speaker 1 (13:45):

Speaker 1 (15:00):
Hey Thanks steve boston and our usso sponsor of the
Show From revolution mortgage for the. Mortgage update and we
are back with my really good Friend Doctor lily Fink
and doc we were kind of talking about accountability and making.
It stick what is some of your protocol when you're working,
with people, because again like, You know i'm blessed To Know, tony,
robbins Right and i've been, To him i've spoke with

(15:21):
him and like a lot of people go to, the
show you know, his things and they're all. Fired up
when they leave two, weeks later they're back to doing the.
Whole thing so what is it about you that some
of your protocol that you do with your clients to
make sure that.

Speaker 3 (15:36):
It sticks going back again to a promise to oneself
that you want to make a change in, your life
whether it's personal.

Speaker 1 (15:43):
Or profession reminding of that.

Speaker 3 (15:44):
It's accountability not to, other people but to yourself because
you're the one that's going to be. Let down, You're
okay i'm want to talk about working out. FORSON sure,
i mean, COME on i mean, it's like, it's great
you're on. A roll obviously you do it, Quite, regularly
okay but then you get into the, comfort level the, comfort,
Zone Right and i've, always said?

Speaker 1 (16:04):
What's?

Speaker 3 (16:04):
Easier why why is being negative easier than? Being? Positive
right WHY am i? Asking you why is.

Speaker 1 (16:12):
It used to? Be negative because your brain goes moves
towards that on a daily basis with what you see on,
the screens what you see. Everywhere else but but.

Speaker 3 (16:22):
The key thing that's a. Good one it's easy to just.
Walk away WHY am i going to get up at
five o'clock in. The, morning absolutely, you know and you
know it's so much easier just, YOU know i just
want to stay. In bed it's, it is it's easier
to be negative than it need to. Be positive because
to be positive you have to work, at it keep working.
At it and you know this better than ANYBODY that.

(16:43):
I know it becomes what, a, Habit, habit yeah it becomes.
A habit and it's you've got to do. The reps
you Know what i'm. Talking about you got to do.
The reps not just. Physical reps you've got to do. Mindset,
Reps okay I've got i've got it and how much
do you want?

Speaker 2 (16:58):
To?

Speaker 3 (16:58):
Change again what's in it?

Speaker 1 (17:00):
For me what's the story you're? Telling, yourself YEAH and
i coach a lot on, you, KNOW goals i asked,
the athletes, you know just, business owners you know what?
Are goals the bride products of about goals are byproducts of,
your standards the standards that you hold yourself to and
the habit that you just. Talked about they've got to
like they have to, be continual they got to. Be

(17:22):
daily and it's as me as, their COACH because i
believe everyone knows what, they want they just don't know
how to talk themselves. Into it so once we do
my superpower, Of curiosity i'm talking to them and they
tell me what, we want we get it. In writing
then we build a morning protocol around it to where
they are, texting, me oh three things you're, grateful for no,
matter what every single one of my clients three things
you're great for. Every morning and then if they have

(17:45):
to be working on and be, Living intentional i'll, be
like what were you intentional? About yesterday and then also
were you did you complete what you said you're going
to be intentional about the? Day before so it holds
them accountable to rewiring their brain that becomes part of
that subconsciousness. For them that's kind of what. WE'RE using
i know you do it. As well but a lot
of people will leave your your awesome speaking engagements or,

(18:09):
even mine or even big guys like at My Let
mel robbins and stuff. Like that like they'll leave them
and be. Fired UP so i love that you hold Them,
account yeah you're.

Speaker 3 (18:18):
Fired up you walk out, of that you, walk up
walk out of. The auditorium i'm A Big mail. Robinson
fan so you you walk out of that audience and you're. Fired,
Up man, It's, like okay. That's it i'm gonna change.
My life, you know she, is right she's talking about.
The reps let's get. It going and then you get
in your car and your. PHONE starts i call this. The,
devil yeah then your, phone starts and then you get
caught up. In that it's, really hard, you know it's

(18:40):
hard to get back to that number one plateau to
get to where you need. To go and that's. THAT
gap i was, talking about how how bad do? You
want and what is? THE cost i keep saying that
what is the cost of? Doing nothing is, NOTHING right
i get.

Speaker 1 (18:56):
An introduced on stages the gap coach people, don't UNDERSTAND
and i just, tell them, you know this is where,
you are this is where you want to, get to
this is where. You are we're going to help you bridge.
That gap and the only way that as, a COACH
that i can bridge that, gap is, you know again using,
my curiosity but holding them accountable and making sure that
they get back to Me daily Monday. TO friday i

(19:17):
treat it like, a workout like five, days on two.
Days off the weekends they can have off and kind
of like do what they want, to do but Then,
come monday we're back on, the, program right and then
eventually they just kind of do it on. Their own
i've been fired by clients that will, be, like hey,
You know i'm still doing what you had me do in.
The morning, i'm like. That's awesome so that's a win
across the board we just didn't. MESH with i can

(19:38):
be militant, like yourself, you know so that that's, you
know something that YOU know i. Work on at the,
Same time i'm not being authentic and that's.

Speaker 3 (19:48):
And, you know that's ONE thing i really like about
about the coaching IS and i got into it. BY
accident I mean I was i was doing my. ASSOCIATE
screen i had a professor that brought up the term.
Servant leadership, that's interesting and it took me from there
and that was year's. Long timeship you. Know what you
can call it service leadership if you don't want to

(20:09):
do the, servant leadership but it and That's when, i'm
like that's that's THAT'S where i want to be because you,
KNOW why i never had THAT when i was, growing
UP and i never had leaders that understood what that,
Was RIGHT so i, was like wait, A minute i
can make a difference here and take it or. Leave it.
You know it's you KNOW what i think the BIGGEST
joy i get IS when i work with, an individual

(20:31):
regardless if it's, life coaching, their, business life whatever, it
is and they finally come to the realization that they're
in the wrong spot in.

Speaker 1 (20:40):
Their, career lunch you had a client. ABOUT that i,
remember that.

Speaker 3 (20:44):
And then it was and you know what. That was
that was one of THE few i still keep in
touch with this individual and kicking some serious but. That's
awesome but, it's, like hey, YOU know i was thinking
about you and, especially individuals and we'll go back. TO
school a big supporter.

Speaker 1 (21:01):
For, that sure.

Speaker 3 (21:02):
You know, it's, like okay, You know i'm tired of
you calling me and telling me you want to go,
to school you want to? Do this what you told
me this six? Months ago did you? Register? Yet right
are you? In it what are?

Speaker 2 (21:13):
You?

Speaker 3 (21:13):
Doing?

Speaker 1 (21:14):
Right accountability and.

Speaker 3 (21:15):
So, they're like, You know i'll get. To, it, okay
fine you know what you need. To DO then i
get a call, and, Say hey i'm graduating next month
and you come.

Speaker 1 (21:21):
To. Graduate yeah if they're intentional, about, it yes then
they're gonna. And that, and again as, A coach i
just believe that holding part of holding that mirror is
holding them accountable to what. They're doing so we dig
into a little bit. About you, ALL right I guess
scott that Look and susan probably knows that. Look too,
so like but have you seen, You know brian loves this,

(21:44):
Question too Brian, Mud by. Austin producer but have you
seen The movie back To? The, future yeah this was forty,
years ago a couple of. Weeks ago that's thank you.

Speaker 3 (21:52):
For that for reminding me. ABOUT that i really. Appreciate
it so let's go back to the.

Speaker 1 (21:57):
Double deuce the twenty two Year, old lily what what
kind of like is not to change the trajectory or,
change anything but maybe what kind OF knowledge i guess
the advice would you give her to maybe shorten a
learning curve or blast through maybe just a.

Speaker 3 (22:09):
Little quick don't be blind to the opportunities that have
