Speaker 1 (00:01):
Life Bites with Wendy wild your bite sized podcast filled
with lifestyle stories, personal stories, and a roundup of stories
Wendy talks about on the radio. Here's Wendy, Oh.
Speaker 2 (00:11):
Hello, as we check in. It's been a little hiatus,
like as well as on Vacatian last week, and I'm
joined by the one and only Rupert back again two
episodes in a row.
Speaker 1 (00:20):
Well, thank you for having me back. I'm back with
Wendy Wilde. Thank you.
Speaker 2 (00:24):
You know, I might actually have you do my voiceovers forward.
You're so good at that my radio voice. How are
things last week?
Speaker 1 (00:32):
While I was gone, Well, Wendy, as we say, wasn't
the same without you. So we missed you. Everyone loves you.
But you know, here we are back again to discuss
another life bite and I imagine you have a series
of topics and concerns that we can go over.
Speaker 2 (00:47):
I feel like I always have something to complain about.
Speaker 1 (00:50):
That's why you're running the show.
Speaker 2 (00:52):
It's funny that people tuned into this just to hear
me bitch and moan and complain all the time. But no, actually,
like my week off was actually really good. I did
another one of my staycations and I pretty much put
all of my medical appointments. I know, so exciting, but
you know sometimes doctor's offices they don't have those after
work appointments available. So I was like, hey, why not.
(01:14):
I needed to go for an MRI. Nothing serious, just
a little check up. But I did have to have contrast.
And have you ever had an IV done?
Speaker 1 (01:22):
Yes? I have. I've had that the contrast once where
it's like the die they have to put in, so
you got to get it cleared and the needle and yeah, okay, okay, I.
Speaker 2 (01:34):
Mean, listen, you do what you gotta do. And especially
as you get older, there's more and more tests that
need to be done. I find and you know, no
big deal. But I was looking at the instructions for
the test and it said no food, no water for
four hours. And the test was at nine am. So
I woke up. I was a little thirsty, but I
was like, all right, whatever, I go to do the thing.
(01:56):
The woman goes to insert the IV in my arm,
and it hurt when she did. It hurt my arm,
and then the next thing I know, I am fainting.
I actually fainted on site at this radiology office, and
it was just the most mortifying experience. Have you ever fainted,
(02:16):
by the way, No, I never have.
Speaker 1 (02:18):
It's funny you mentioned it. I have to ask, I've
never fainted. But did you think at the side of
the needle the pain like or the anticipation that something
would happen?
Speaker 2 (02:27):
You know, I'm wonder it's the same thing. It's not
like I haven't had an IV before. I don't love needles,
but I've had this. I've done before. It could have
been a lot of things, Like I mentioned the food
and water. It could have been that. It could have
been I was a little nervous. It could have been
I have no idea. It could have been just that
she didn't do it right because it shouldn't hurt. So
(02:48):
after this needle is in my arm and I come
back to life, which took some like they had to
get some candy. They were rubbing things under my nose.
They had to get some candy. And then I came
back to life and I was like, you know, not
for nothing. This really hurts, and they're like, well, they
test the line. They're like, no, it's fine. So for
forty minutes I sat with this thing in my arm,
and can I tell you it is still black and blue.
Speaker 1 (03:10):
Oh, like you have like a punch mark.
Speaker 2 (03:12):
They punched me, and I just think they just didn't
do a good poke and maybe just the shock of that,
who knows, But man, that was embarrassing. At least I
didn't pee my pants though.
Speaker 1 (03:23):
You didn't do that. No, you didn't, so but you
took it courageously. No, I've never fainted when I've had
to get the needle in the arm. I mean, who
likes this? Think of it. It's a thin metal tube
with a point going into your body. It's weird to
give it that way.
Speaker 2 (03:37):
It's weird. You were telling me before that.
Speaker 1 (03:39):
You look, well, I want to face the fear. I
don't want to cringe, so yes, I kind of very reluctantly. Well,
if getting like a blood test or whatever, or the contrast,
you just sit there and you walk. Girl sucked the
blood out of you. No you don't, Yes, I do.
And you know what, it made me a little stronger.
I learned from you. Doesn't killie makes you stronger. So
(04:01):
I've actually watched this and I've progressed. I can actually
watch a needle go into my arm and not faint
or panic. Not that I like it. But it is
what it is that is.
Speaker 2 (04:14):
A talent, and I will mention this. You say you've
never fainted before. There are two different types of fainting.
There's the you don't even know what hits you, you
hit the floor right. But then there's this slow faint,
which is what happened to me. You get tunnel vision,
you get like little brown spots over the sides of
your eyes. The hearing goes. You sound like everything sounds
(04:36):
very far away. And that's kind of where I was at.
It was not like I was on the floor immediately.
I mean I was sitting in a chair, but everything
was so slow. I just felt myself going and I
couldn't come back from it. It was really weird. So
eventually I must have slurred his juice or whatever. Anything
sweet will usually make me snap out of it, not
the alcohol swaps that they were trying to.
Speaker 1 (04:56):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (04:56):
Yeah, but anyway, that was fun.
Speaker 1 (04:58):
And you're better now. Everything's fall My arms.
Speaker 2 (05:00):
Still freaking hurts, but besides got everything was good. I
mean Saturday, I did an appearance for the radio station
even though I was technically on vacation for Dave and
Busters and Danielle's Allllo Okay, Danielle, we had so much fun.
So we had a little dance competition. It was freeze
(05:21):
dance for the kids and the prize so it was
a surprise. We were giving away these bows sunglasses where
you can actually listen to music. Have you seen this? So,
I mean, I think most of the kids who were
in this contest were trying to win it for mom
or dad. But Danielle was a lot of fun and
then the two of us had a little quick bite after.
(05:42):
We just had a great time. That was the Westbury location,
so that was.
Speaker 1 (05:47):
Fun, positive and for the kids, yes, yeah, they were
lucky that you two were there.
Speaker 2 (05:50):
So I've got another one coming up in Ilandia. So
this Saturday. I love David Busters and the nice thing
and I have to give a shout out to Heath,
the man at Westbury, because he gave us a whole
stack of gift cards and I'm like, okay, we're going
to be playing some games. My favorite is that basketball one,
okay where you shoot as many baskets and however many minutes.
Speaker 1 (06:12):
Shout out to Dave, Dave and Busters and Heath. So
that's a good guy.
Speaker 2 (06:16):
Yeah. The sad thing was that when he first introduced himself.
I thought he said his name was Pete. So Danielle
comes up to me, She's like, what's the manager's name.
I'm like, oh, yeah, that's Pete. He likes it was poor,
poor Heath. He was like, correct, he corrected us.
Speaker 1 (06:31):
Second he heard a Heath Ledger okay.
Speaker 2 (06:34):
Yeah, or Heath Cliff, you know the.
Speaker 1 (06:36):
Dog, Okay, heath Cliff.
Speaker 2 (06:38):
Yeah. But what a nice guy and what a great experience.
So that was fun. Other than that, did a little gardening,
hung out with the neighborhood cats that follow me around.
Speaker 1 (06:49):
I think the cats have their own left. They talk
about you, and they know Wendy's the cool one, so
we'll stick with her. So they're attracted to you now
because they talk, They got so they get into their language.
We don't understand obviously that lady. She's so cool, she's safe.
Speaker 2 (07:08):
And do you think that there's anything to that though,
people who have animals who are drawn to them, because
I now it is. I know you're not really on social,
but the algorithm has got me. The algorithm keeps, you know,
popping up these videos on my page where it's like
if animals are attracted to you, it means this.
Speaker 1 (07:27):
It could be. I mean, like, the bottom line is,
we don't know specifically what they're saying, but they it
means something in their world. Just like when you hear
a language you don't know, it means something to the
people speaking it, even if you don't understand it.
Speaker 2 (07:39):
Something happens.
Speaker 1 (07:40):
The same with the cats. I'm sure they have an
elaborate language and form of communication.
Speaker 2 (07:44):
Oh the obvious. So something did happen last week? I
have I just have two right now that hang out
in the backyard, and they're friendly, they're social. I've showed
you videos of them, like they come up, they let
you touch them. I always wash my hands very vigorously
I handle them. But a couple of nights ago, I
hear this horrible noise in the backyard and they my
(08:08):
neighbor warned me about this guy. There is a bully.
There's a bully cat that come. He's a he's a
big he's a big boy, comes into the you know
where whatever territory looking to take over. So he came
into my backyard and he was like making his big
loud cat noises that these two little girls. So I
put the porch lights on and I came back on
the stoop and I put my hands on my hips
(08:30):
and I was like, meal.
Speaker 1 (08:33):
You're the big cat and you're telling get lost.
Speaker 2 (08:35):
I was like, get out of here and don't come back.
And the two little girls they came up. One was
on one leg, the other one's on the other, and
they're like, yeah.
Speaker 1 (08:43):
Good girl power. Yeah, And did the bully cat leave?
Like has the bully cat remained or it's gone?
Speaker 2 (08:51):
I've seen him around, but he hasn't been in my backyard.
And I think I scared him. I didn't do anything.
I just told him to get lost.
Speaker 1 (08:57):
He's communicated.
Speaker 2 (08:57):
I said, listen my turf, and these are my little girls.
So mm but I would love to get these little
girls adopted. They're really they are sweet enough. At this point,
I was talking to my friend who works at a
rescue and she goes, they're not considered feral where at
one time they were. But you know what, they're socialized now.
Speaker 1 (09:16):
So to you, Yes, thanks to you, so put the
word out. I'm sure these are wonderful cats.
Speaker 2 (09:20):
I will be around checking. I will be making sure
that they are going to a good home, because you
don't just give cats. I know there's like weird people
out there there is. But yeah, I'm hopefully this summer
going to be working with another rescue to see if
we can make.
Speaker 1 (09:35):
This cool positive news.
Speaker 2 (09:36):
Good. No, I know what else is going on with you?
Speaker 1 (09:38):
Are you drinking your water?
Speaker 2 (09:40):
No?
Speaker 1 (09:40):
Well, you got to drink water. Remember, hydration is the
foundation of life. Oh.
Speaker 2 (09:44):
One more thing, I speaking of health. You know, I
don't have the best health as we talked about, with
the kidney stones and all the other things that I've
had to deal with. But I did learn this, so
I didn't want to tell you this. But a couple
of weeks ago, I started feeling like I was like
that pain again, you know.
Speaker 1 (10:03):
The one lower back.
Speaker 2 (10:05):
It's kind of like in your lower back. It's kind
of in the front too. It's almost like inside your ribs.
It's so deep in there that if you were to
put your finger on where the pain source is, you
can't get to it. That's the best way I can
describe it. But I was like, oh shit, am I
getting kidney stones again? And that day I drank like
a gallon of water And did it help?
Speaker 1 (10:25):
Well, yes, it did immediately help it.
Speaker 2 (10:27):
Well, it took a couple of hours and then I
started feeling better and I was like, Okay, you know what,
I really was not doing very good with my water drinking,
so I've been doing better. I also got for the
first time this NAD shot, which is this new vitamin
thing that my friend runs Skin Deep Medspa, So she
was offering that, so I was like, you know, it's
supposed to like promote health from all sorts of angles.
(10:49):
I don't know, you know, but I was like, I'll
give it a try, but most importantly, drink your water.
Speaker 1 (10:54):
Yes, well, I'm glad you drank it down to gallon
of water, like a gallon.
Speaker 2 (10:59):
Like I do not want to end up back in
the emergency room now. And imagine if I had to
get another IV.
Speaker 1 (11:06):
You'd have we'd have another podcast talking about another needle
experience here that would be.
Speaker 2 (11:11):
Don't pass out, Yeah, no, don't pass out now. I
have trauma, more trauma than before. But hey, thanks for
basically letting me vent with my my own personal therapy session.
And it's always great to have you. We got to
get Danielle DeLillo back in the studio maybe you know
later in the week or its correct next week, but Rupert,
you are a gem.
Speaker 1 (11:31):
My pleasure and I love talking to all of you guys.
