Everything is jam-packed into this anxiety-filled episode. Jump on in if you're feeling a bit unhinged.
Breaking up with anyone is always a little awkward, but does a therapist deserve a Dear John letter? Or can you just ghost them? Seems like all the cool kids are ghosting these days.
Speaking of anxiety: Why are ADHD'ers always incredible and panic-free in emergencies, yet hardly able to function with minor inconveniences?🤔
Solo episode today, but we shout out a few friends of the pod, and hear a familiar voice - Hiiiii Alex Ocho!
Don't forget to rate, review, and subscribe because it really helps me to push this pod out there.
Thanks!

Speaker 1 (00:00):
I just put my earbuds in backwards. Who at least
tried to very par for the course. Life Bites with
Wendy Wild, your bite sized podcast filled with lifestyle stories,
personal stories, and a roundup of stories Wendy talks about
on the radio.

Speaker 2 (00:14):
Here's Wendy.

Speaker 1 (00:16):
There's always something happening, there's always something weird. But I
guess that's why we're charming. That's why we're here to
talk about the weird, to talk about the spice.

Speaker 3 (00:27):
I'm here for it, Wendy Wild.

Speaker 2 (00:28):
Here.

Speaker 1 (00:29):
This is another episode of Life Bites where I'm solo today,
but we do have a special guest who's going to
be checking in a little bit later on in the pod,
So stick around till the end.

Speaker 3 (00:37):
I promise I will not take up too much of
your time.

Speaker 1 (00:40):
But this podcast, this episode is going to be pretty
much all about anxiety because there's been a lot of
that going around lately. So for me, I had a
break up with my therapist awkward. Although these days I
feel like the way people break up.

Speaker 3 (00:58):
They just ghost. I did not want to do that.

Speaker 1 (01:02):
I feel like people deserve, you know, to know that
things aren't working out. So I had to write an email,
and it was totally awkward, but you know, nothing against
this particular therapist, which, by the way, let me backtrack.

Speaker 3 (01:15):
Therapy.

Speaker 1 (01:16):
Talk therapy, I think is so crucial for people who
have anxiety, really for anyone, whether it be for couples,
for individuals, for those with anxiety, for people who just
live a life. Right, it's just it's so helpful. And
the fact that most insurances cover a talk therapist, I mean,
why isn't everyone doing therapy, Although I do consider this

(01:39):
podcast kind of like therapy as well, so you'll have
to pardon me, You'll have to be my therapist until
we can find one who's a better match. But this woman,
let's just say she was like, she was fine, she
was a decent listener, but she didn't really offer much feedback,
and I think that was the issue. I think the
other issue was the fact that I felt like she

(02:00):
would forget things from session to sessions, so there wasn't
a lot of continuity. There was not a lot of exercises,
there was not a lot of like things that I
could not get myself off of either YouTube, like a
meditation or like talking to a friend. So what am
I wasting my twenty five dollars copay for right. So
I let it go a couple of weeks, and you know,
I just said, hey, listen, I'm sorry, this just isn't

(02:21):
working out. I'm gonna actually try talk space, which is
not a sponsor.

Speaker 3 (02:26):
But maybe should be.

Speaker 1 (02:27):
If it all works out, I will let you know,
or I can maybe give someone else that.

Speaker 3 (02:32):
Their practice a try.

Speaker 1 (02:33):
But it's always super awkward because you don't want to
make it seem like they're bad at their job.

Speaker 3 (02:38):
They're just not for you.

Speaker 1 (02:39):
There's so many different methods too, especially after talking to
my friend Jackie, who will be appearing on this podcast.

Speaker 3 (02:46):
Sooner or later.

Speaker 1 (02:47):
But it's interesting to hear from a therapist perspective just
to how how the industry works different techniques. What made
me anxious today? Well, what doesn't make me anxious? See
the way my brain works. And I think part of
the reason that you're maybe here is because maybe you
have anxiety too, or some sort of neurospicy You feel
like this is a safe space, which it is. I'm

(03:08):
so great in an emergency situation. I barely react emotionally
when it's an emergency. I am in survival mode and
I think on my feet. I'm amazing at it. It's
part of my ADHD superpower. But with that comes worrying
about all the tiny little things and a lot of

(03:29):
these things that have not even happened yet or may
not even happen at all. If you can relate to this,
oh my goodness, will you please just write it in
a review and let me know send me a DM.
It really makes life unpleasant sometimes when you're worrying about
things that may or may not happen. I will give
you the perfect example.

Speaker 3 (03:48):
Today.

Speaker 1 (03:49):
I had to take my cat to the vet. Now,
he's a young boy. I just adopted him last year.
This is my soul kitty. I love him so much.

Speaker 3 (03:57):
But I noticed that he had.

Speaker 1 (03:59):
A dirty butt. Allie, apologies, I'm sorry. I don't mean
to embarrass you, but he had a dirty butt, and
as his mommy, I did my best to clean his
dirty butt. And if any of you have cats at home,
or even a dog like they don't they don't want
you to do that. I really really try. I gave
it my best effort. It's not stuck to fur, whatever

(04:20):
it is, so I said to myself. I do realize
that some pets do on occasion, require attention or their
glands examined. So I made an appointment. I don't know
what happened to my eight pound sweet little baby at
the vet who impressed all the doctors last time. He
is now a seventeen pound monster, and he was not
having it. He went full feral in this office. I

(04:43):
can't even tell you. They could barely look at anything.
And as we were there discussing a plan for him
moving ahead, which is going to include taking Gaba Penton
before vet appointments from now on, she mentioned, well, he's
definitely not an outside cat, No, he is not. He
has had some interaction through the window the screen with

(05:04):
some of the farrohs that live in the backyard, and
I had asked a bunch of my friends who know cats,
and everyone seemed to think this was fine. Like FIV
can be spread through like deep bite wounds, so nothing
to worry about there. But she had mentioned that I
should be concerned about f e l V, which is
basically feline leukemia.

Speaker 3 (05:24):
So anxious me.

Speaker 1 (05:25):
Now he was negative for all these things when I
adopted him, but I'm like he he like sniffed.

Speaker 3 (05:30):
Through the window a few times.

Speaker 1 (05:32):
So now his next appointment is weeks away, and I'm
gonna have to give him the gabbat Penton before this appointment.
And I have to wait now to find out if,
like God forbid, he contracted this disease through a window
which I didn't know any better. I should have been
more selective about which screens I allowed to be open

(05:52):
in the fall, in the spring. I know now, but
I am in full panic mode.

Speaker 3 (05:58):
Listen to me, this is terrible.

Speaker 1 (06:00):
If anyone has experience with cats or even farrels, can
you please just ease my brain. Just send me a
message and tell me that this is unlikely and that
she's just trying.

Speaker 3 (06:10):
To be cautious to me.

Speaker 1 (06:12):
He was very alarmist. But we will find out. I
will keep you updated.

Speaker 3 (06:16):
Trust me.

Speaker 1 (06:16):
This boy's appetite is doing a okay.

Speaker 3 (06:19):
In fact, we need.

Speaker 1 (06:20):
To actually get him on a little bit of a
diet or make some small adjustments. But enough about my
cat and my anxiety surrounding my cat. I wanted to
shout out some good people who have been tuned into
this podcast, and I actually heard from Maggie and Chris
who they go way back to the Tails over Cocktails days.

(06:41):
In fact, we had Chris come in. He was the
one that was making the hot sauce and then made
me a special hot sauce because I can't really have
onion or garlic, and.

Speaker 3 (06:50):
It is absolutely delicious.

Speaker 1 (06:51):
It's that green sauce that just tastes amazing on chicken,
on everything. And Chris reached out was like, I love
the fact that life bites is bad, but I didn't
realize you and doctor N broke up. I just want
you to know that me and Maggie.

Speaker 3 (07:04):
Are here for you. Like that brought tears to my eyes.

Speaker 1 (07:07):
The fact that I've made such incredible friendships through this
medium and people have stuck around it really warms my heart.
And I mean that from the bottom of my heart.
It really does mean a lot. And here's the thing.
I love what I do more than anything. It's ingrained
in my personality working with music. But as you know,

(07:30):
the format really only calls for you to talk for
what thirty seconds tops. If I were to break down
and what are we like eight minutes into this podcast
and talk for eight minutes about my anxiety, nobody wants
to hear that. So I assume if you are here,
you are okay with it or you feel like you
can relate to it and this is a safe space
for you and for me, and that's what it is.

(07:52):
It's an expansion of me and my brand. I can
do so much. But really with a music format with Race,
it is about letting the music shine and the listeners shine.
So it's a completely different thing. Speaking of friends of
the pod, I mentioned that we do have a special
guest and it is like a voice note form. But

(08:14):
I do plan to have alex Ocho, my former co
host from Life Fights, join us on this revamped version eventually.
But here's what he had to say.

Speaker 2 (08:23):
Hi, Wendy, and Hi all of the Life Bites listeners.
It's Alex and man, it has been such a long
time since Wendy and I were able to get together,
not just on the podcast but also in real life.
Like you and I have a lot of catching up
to do, and hopefully we can do it on an
episode of Life Bites really really soon. I know you've

(08:45):
been doing your thing and I've been loving the new episodes,
so definitely keep up the good work. I hope you're
staying warm too, because it's really cold in New York lately.
And yeah, I miss you so and I miss talking
on a podcast with you, and hopefully very very soon,

(09:08):
well catch up.

Speaker 3 (09:11):
Anyway, Bye, Oh I miss you, Alex.

Speaker 1 (09:14):
Remind me the next time you're actually live on the pod,
we need to talk about the time that I fell
backwards down an escalator that was going up. Very Simpson's asked,
but you caught me like somehow your arm's just like
opened and they caught me in my armpits and I
did not fall like I could have just tumbled endlessly
up an escalator falling down the up backwards.

Speaker 3 (09:35):
Yeah, so yeah, I'm clumsy.

Speaker 1 (09:37):
And on that note, we're gonna end it right there, okay, Alex.
We hope to hear you and see you in person
sooner than later. And if anybody wants to make me
feel better about my cat and the chances of him
contracting an illness through a window, I am on social media, Okay,
be my therapist. We all know I could use one
Wendy Wild Radio on Instagram or TikTok. And remember life,

(10:00):
it sometimes does bite, but we're all there for each other.
