coach Bill Lawrence knows that his defense, which has allowed
two tds or fewer and five of their six games,
will have to shut off starts big playability.

Speaker 2 (00:35):
Well, they have two of the best players in the
league with number three Jonatol and then number four Tyree Heismith.
Either're great players, they can take one and if they
get a crease, they can house it at any time.
And so we've got a rally to the football, get
all living hats there and make sure we're taking care
of our assignments. But our defense is pretty excited and
ran to go on Senior Night for sure.

JJ Spiker.

Speaker 3 (01:21):
They're extremely difficult to defend for the fact they have
the billion two throw and run the ball effectively. Their
quarterbacks played exceptional throughout the entire year, and he's a
dual threat kid, so we'll have a big challenge for us.
They've got great length and speed at the wide receiver
and skill positions, and their physical upfront.

Speaker 1 (01:39):
On the other sideline. It's Shawnee coach Shane Wireman. He
says his team is loose and ready to pull the upset,
but ultimately.

Speaker 4 (01:47):
I kind of like you, I guess, as Shawnee over
here we are. I think the pressure's on them. They
got a lot riding on it. Everybody's saying they should
handle us. I think the pressures on them. We're going
to come out and play our brain football and play
for four quarters and see how we stack up at
the end of the night.

Speaker 1 (02:04):

tied at one until Dylan Dingler had a solo home
run in the sixth inning. The Tigers then broke it

(03:30):
open in the seventh, sending ten batters to the plate
and scoring four times to make it six to one.
The Guardians nearly rallied in the eighth. Detroit reliever Will
Vest dropped to throw at first base that allowed two
runners to score. However, he recovered quickly and threw out
the batter runner Jose Ramirez, who tried to get to
second base, and that ended the inning and effectively ended

Man.

Speaker 5 (04:01):
That's stings. It's stings for it to end that way.
I couldn't be more proud of them of what we accomplished,
but it's not enough. We want more, And I think
that's really the messages. Let this sting. We're close, we
are really close. We're not quite there yet. There's things
we need to improve upon, there's things we need to
get better with, but the overarching theme is just I'm
so proud of that group for not quitting. They had

(04:23):
every excuse, every reason thrown at them to quit at
any point during this summer, and they refuse to do
that even today.

Speaker 1 (04:30):
Of course, the Indians made up over fifteen games in
the standings to catch Detroit and win the Al Central.

Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
