Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome in former Speaker of the House, Newt Gingrid. She
is a prolific author of forty three books already, but
he needed to do another one because of Trump. Mister Speaker,
Trump's triumph, you call it America's greatest comeback, and the
subtitle I guess, So why do you think it's the
greatest comeback?

Speaker 2 (00:19):
Well, I mean, first of all, only Grover Cleveland had
been elected, defeated, and elected again, So not since eighteen
ninety two have we seen what President Trump pulled off. Second,
when you look at everything that was done to stop him,
the whole Russian hoax, smear, the effor of the lies

(00:39):
by the FBI, the federal judges, the efforts by the CIA,
the Muller investigation, the lies by the New York Times
and Washington Posts, who, by the way, got pull User
prizes for printing lives. Then two impeachment attempts, two assassination attempts,
four attempts to put him in jaw, and he's still standing.

(01:03):
And then he not only there's something we've never seen before,
he defeats an incumbent president in June pivots and then
beats his successor in November, nobody else has ever had
to take out two candidates in one year. And when
he wins, he carries every swing state, all seven of them,
and he has a two and a half million vote margin,

(01:23):
which is for a Republican very hard to do in
popular vote. So I would say that his election is extraordinary.
And then you look at the last five months. Nobody
has been this greater change agent in modern times. In fact,
I rank Trump with Jefferson Jackson, Lincoln, and Franklin Roosevelt.

(01:46):
Is one of the five great change presidents in American history.

Speaker 1 (01:49):
New Gingridge is with us. Trump's triumph is the book.
And you point out Trump has never really been a
political typical politician, and you say he didn't invent making
character great, but he just sort of intuitively knew how
to I guess grasp on to it. Talk about that.

Speaker 2 (02:06):
Well, I think that first of all, I remember, Trump
is a very successful student of American opinion. He had
a TV show for thirteen years on NBC. He built
his entire real essay system around publicity and understanding his customers,
and until you brought the same thing to the country.
Much of what he said, by the way he said

(02:28):
on Oprah in the nineteen eighties. I mean, Trump hasn't
changed a whole lot. He has a very common sense
business attitude. He's Queen's He's not Manhattan, so he's really
middle class and background wealthy, middle class, but middle class.
And you know, this is a guy who could naturally
be at a McDonald's passing out French fries, because every

(02:52):
time I flew with him, he was eating you know,
fast food, McDonald's, Wendy's, what have you. Uh, And so
this is naturally who he really is. And he has
enormous energy to the enormous drive, partially I think because
he thinks he's really helping save the country and so

(03:12):
that's a big deal.

Speaker 1 (03:14):
Well, another part of the book, you talk about the
future of the Make America Great Again movement. I guess,
as far as you can predict or see into the future,
what do you have to say about that part of it?

Speaker 2 (03:26):
Well, I mean, that's part of why I wrote the book,
is that I wanted in talking both about Trump's triumph
and America's greatest comeback, not just Trump's comeback, but America's
greatest comeback. I felt that you had to go, look,
how do we get here? Which is history, and then
you had to say, Okay, now that we're here, what
does it mean for the future. And that's why Trump's

(03:47):
Triumph is as much a book about what's coming as
it is a book about what's happened. And I think
you see some of this beginning to develop. Now. This
is going to be a very aggressive administration that works
very hard to regrow the American economy. His trip to
the Middle East where in four days time you got
trillly one trillion dollars in sales and one trillion dollars

(04:11):
in investments, which is a pretty good four days, you know,
about a half billion, five hundred billion dollars a day.
That kind of activity is going to lead to enormous
economic growth in this country.

Speaker 1 (04:25):
Also, we're speaking with former Speaker in Gandrich. The book
is called Trump's Triumph. When you think about the future, you,
of course, are very well known as an expert on
military issues. A real conundrum with what to do with
Vladimir Putin and the Russia and the Ukraine wore some
twists and turns here lately, mister speaker, how do you

(04:46):
think that could play out? What can Trump do to
end this thing?

Speaker 2 (04:50):
Well, I think it requires being honest about who Putin is.
Putin is a KGB trained lieutenant colonel who believes that
the greatest disaster of the twentieth century was the collapse
of the Civil Union, who thinks that his mission is
to rebuild the Russian Empire, and who wants to conquer
all of Ukraine and then move on to Moldova, Latvia, Lithuania,

(05:13):
Estonia and maybe Finland. He's not going to be sweet talked.
If he gets in a position where he can't fight,
because he can't fight, then he'll probably negotiate. But that
requires very significant increases in Ukrainian the capacity to win,
including the right to hit inside Russia, and it requires

(05:35):
that we cut off his oil supply, which is his
only major source of foreign currency. And if if food
ends up broke and losing the war, then they'll agree
to a truce. But he's not going to agree to
a truce because the people talk to him, because he
he couldn't care less, and you know, he's in his seventies.
He thinks his record in history will be that he's

(05:58):
the guy who rebuilt the right An empire, and he's
prepared to sacrifice a million Russians if that's what it
takes to achieve that goal.

Speaker 1 (06:06):
So clearly the president has to change tack here and
get more aggressive with either economic sanctions or giving more
to Ukraine. What specifically do you think he might do first?

Speaker 2 (06:18):
Well, I think you'll do both. You know. I noticed
over the weekend when Putin for three straight days was
hitting civilian targets, that the whole tone that Trump was
bringing the bear was changing. And I think that he
has begun to realize, as he puts it, that the
Putin he negotiated with in the past doesn't exist anymore,

(06:41):
and this guy has just committed to winning the war.
And I think that means that that Trump will now
be thinking, Okay, I'm going to have to defeat him,
not just talk with him. And I suspect he'll start
with dramatically greater sanctions, and he'll start with quietly shipping
more and better equipment and giving the Ukrainians permission to

(07:05):
hit inside Russia. And that'll raise the end and then
we'll see how Putin responds.

Speaker 1 (07:11):
Gingrich is our guest. The book is Trump's triumph. Final thought,
mister speaker, the triumph of Trump? Is it really a
repudiation of the media and the elites by just the
American public Joe public here.

Speaker 2 (07:26):
Absolutely, American people know that the elite media are all lying,
that fake news is an actuor description, and the American
people know that Washington has become assessful of corruption and
bureaucracy and lobbyists and it has to be fixed. And
that's why they support him. You know, no matter what
the elite media says, the average American supports Donald Trump.

Speaker 1 (07:47):
Newt Gingrich you can find his podcast on the iHeart player.
It's called Newt's World. The new book is Trump's Triumph.
Mister speaker, we appreciate you taking time for us, great cluck.
