Reds fall to Braves in Speedway Classic; Tribe can't finish sweep of Twins; Tigers blanked in Philly; Locos win the Championship; Bengals extend lease at Paycor Stadium.

From the WIMA Sports desk. The Reds and Braves in Bristol, Tennessee.
Of course, we're rained out Saturday night at Bristol Motor
Speedway in the so called Speedway Classic, so the teams
had to come back yesterday and finish the game. Both
starting pitchers basically got wiped out by the way things
went Saturday, so it was a bullpen day for both teams,

and the Braves got the better of things four to two.
Former Limea loco Austin Cox got the start for the
Braves as the so called opener didn't go well for him.
He recorded one out, allowed three hits in a run,
but the Reds didn't do much after that, going one
for eight with runners in scoring position and leaving twelve
men on base. After the game, manager Terry Francona said,

that's the big reason the Reds lost the game.

Yeah, I mean we kept thinking we're going to tie
this or keep it going, and we just couldn't get
a big hit.

We definitely had opportunities. The Reds lose two out of
three to Atlanta. That followed it losing two out of
three to the The Reds now fifty eight and fifty
four overall and four games behind the Padres for the
final wild card spot in the National League. The Reds
open a series with the Cubs in Chicago tonight. We'll
have the pregame at seven thirty five game time as

eight h five. Nick Lodolo goes for the Reds while
Michael Soroka makes his Cub's debut on the mound. As
for the Guardians, they fell to the Twins in Cleveland
five to four, couldn't finish off a sweep. Cleveland lost
despite Jose Ramirez hitting his twenty third home run and
three more hits from Daniel Schneman. After the game, manager

He's been hitting the ballheart all year. He's starting to
find some holes. But I mean, just great at bats
from him. He's not chasing, he's not expanding, He's waiting
for them to come to him. He's hitting everything, fastballs, spin,
change ups. He's really doing a nice job. Love the
way he swinging the bat right now, and playing three
different positions in three days is not easy for anybody.
So really proud of Shnee in the ways playing right now.

The loss leaves Cleveland at fifty six and fifty five,
eight games behind the Tigers in the American League Central
Division and three games behind Seattle for the final AL
wild card spot. The Guardians four game winning streak ended
with that loss. They're in New York to take on
the Mets tonight. The Tigers were in Philadelphia for the
weekend and a battle of division leaders, and the Phillies

won last night two to nothing. The Tigers are back
home to begin a series with the Twins tonight. The
Kansas City Royals beat Toronto and ten innings, seven to four.
Former Unah pitcher John Schreiber one on one third perfect
innings in relief for KC, and former Limeloko Tyler Tolbert
a big two run single in the tenth inning to
help the Royals to that victory. Former Limeloco Caleb Ort

threw a shutout inning for Houston, but they lost to
Boston six to one. Speaking of the Limo Locos, Saturday night,
they beat the Hamilton Joees eight to six at Simmons
Field to win the Great Lake Summer Collegiate League Championship Series,
taking the deciding Game three for the franchise's eighth championship. Afterward,
I talked with head coach Chad Erensberger and he said,

this one was the hardest of all.

Well, this is my seventh year total with the Locos,
and it's this was by far the hardest. You know,
just the number of guys that have had to leave
for various reasons. You know, I actually counted today of
the thirty four that was on the opening day roster,
we have eleven right now. So it's it's extraordinary, and

I worry it's gonna be the norm moving forward with
the way college baseball is becoming. But you know, the
guys came right to play tonight and you know, like
I said, we had a lot of guys that would
have liked to have all summer. But I'm happy with
this group. You know, they got it done when it mattered.
And you know, our backs were against the wall against

against the Monarchs, and we went two in a row
and and then come back and beat a good team Hamilton.
So I you know, these guys, they deserve this championship.
And I've see the city lineman deserves it. And you know,
all the all the volunteers, you know, Bill and Kathy
and Keith and Cecily and Sean and everybody else. You guys,

they all deserve a winner, so I was happy that
I could play a role in it.

Congrats to coach Ordsberger and the Locos for another championship
to the NFL. Preseason begins this week for the Bengals
as they will play the Eagles in Philly Thursday night. Meanwhile,
the Browns also play their preseason opener in Charlotte Friday
against the Panthers. Speaking of the Bengals, they've announced that
they have extended their lease at Paid Corps Stadium through

twenty thirty six. Also, renovations are going to happen, with
the team paying one hundred and twenty million dollars, Hamilton
County three hundred and fifty million, and William Byron held
off a eight push from Chase Briscoe to take the
