(00:20):
When I was very nothing really matteredto me of making myself happy, I
was the only world. Now thatI am wrong, everything exchange. I'll

(00:45):
never be the same because of you. Nothing really bad. Lover say hey,

(01:14):
hey, hey, what's up Stevie. Hey, it's been on pretty
good. It's been it's been acouple of weeks. It's our last episode.
Things are getting Uh, things arereally interesting in Madonna fanland. I
would have to say, it's ait's a hell of a time to be
a Madonna fan, right, Imean we we just like ended a really

(01:37):
historic you know tour. I mean, yeah, that's what that's what we're
gonna focus on today because it's it'slong overdue. And of course, like
the whole Rio experience and all thatkind of stuff. Uh. One of
the one of the things that somebodypointed out a couple of something's on one

(01:57):
of their posts or whatever. Iremember in the beginning of her Dare when
she's like, I don't know whenit's gonna hit me, but you know,
I you know, it's like whenwhen you know someone's dying, you
know, you you prepare for it, and then you know when it when
it hits you, you don't.You don't it doesn't hurt you as much.
I've been trying to do that withthis concert. But it's I mean,
you went to see a lot ofshows. I went to see the
most shows I've ever seen in myentire Madonna career. So it's it's been

(02:22):
like and I traveled and you traveled. We met up in in uh in
Miami, and we saw each otherin Fort Lauderdown and stuff like that.
But like, I got to meetso many fans. I got to meet
some fans and I have known forlike twenty years from the from the forums
back in the day. This girlJuliana, I got to meet her in

(02:42):
Austin. Like she she heard myname and she's like, wait, Chauncey
from from Madonna mad forums And Iwas like, yeah, it's like it's
Juliana, a little star. I'mlike, oh my god. Because there
used to be a forum that Iwas a part of that I kind of
I'm Facebook friends with almost everyone fromfrom that forum or like on some sort
of social media. But her Ihadn't met in person, but every all

(03:05):
the other ones I met in person. So it's a really cool. I
think I think the coolest part aboutthis was, you know, there was
all that drama about oh she's holy, did you go on? Holy?
Did you go on? Like Igot over that after the first couple of
shows, everyone asking that. Butit was a really cool experience because I
got to see people and just andspend spend the experience with different people,
like I went with my friend Erin. We we we sat at our first

(03:28):
concert together. We've been to thesame show together, but we never sat
next to each other. I sawit with I sat me and Michelle the
god the Godmother. We we uh, we saw a show together. We
had a whole drama about that. And then like the first show I remember,
I saw you in the audience withyour mom. No, I that
was which show was that? Thatwas? No, the first show with

(03:53):
the opening night in New York,I saw you. You saw me,
but we were we were a littlelittle ways away. I mean that was
you went with your mom. Imet your mom outside. That was an
opening night. That was something Idon't remember. They all meshed together.
Yeah, they all meshed together, but yeah, it was. It was
just really cool to be in likedifferent places to see her and how she

(04:15):
like I I got we got towitness the whole with the air conditioner.
Wait was that? Was that? That was Miami? Right? Distressing opening
in Miami. Y. Yeah,we got to witness her little tantrum about
the air conditioner. She's like,I will be respected as an artist.
I worked hard. So we gotto see her. We got to see

(04:38):
her in her happy moments, wegot to see her in her bitchy moments.
And uh, you know, likewe were discussing it that night,
she was pissed, but she soundedamazing. Oh my god, her voice
was so good after that tantrum,Like she just it just sounded so good.
I think she was because you rememberin Truther Dairy even when like,
you know, my sound kept cuttingout and then he's like, I don't

(04:59):
know, I don't know, maybewas do that every night because you were
really putting out. She's like,Freddy, don't do that, you know,
don't bullshitter, don't she? Soyeah, So like it's it's funny
how you know, like you know, she's been doing it for so long
that she's such a she's such aprofessional that like when things go wrong,
But I feel like this this tour, she talked a lot on the microphone

(05:21):
to the like to the crew morethan usual. Yes, Like I noticed
a lot of times even in NewYork too, Like I remember I think
it was opening night. I thinkon during bedtime story. I distinctly remember
bedtime stories. She's like, Ican't hear anything. Yeah, yeah,

(05:41):
like this was the first time, like you know she was actually I guess
because it was so programmed this show. There was no band and everything was
so timed perfectly that that was theonly way she could really get in contact
with the with the crew, andthen she probably heard what they had to
say in her headphones. That's anotherthing that drives me crazy about about performers,
like she really can't, like there'sso much going on in her earpiece

(06:05):
and all that other stuff, likehow do you even know where the dance
steps are? And like it's gotto be so difficult. Well, I
think they have I think that,Like the dancers also have an ear piece
and they do like counts, solike somebody is like counting for them,
Like you know, dancers sometimes theycount like like the steps and whatnot and

(06:27):
the beats, and then Madonna probablyhears something a little different. I know
there was there was a couple Iam in ear monitor rips that somebody miraculously
got a hold of where Like sometimesthey'll be like they'll say like keywords like
for lyrics. Yeah I've heard thatbefore. Yeah, just so she knows
what the like how the line ends, so that she says sings the right

(06:53):
part. So it's like, Idon't like me personally. I don't think
I could do that. Like ifsomebody's talking in my ear while I'm trying
to like speak or sing or anything, that's a lot. Yeah, I
would have to stop. We don'trealize what what goes into this show,
you know, especially of this magnitudeand so many like moving parts and like

(07:13):
that's that's another thing. Like mysecond show, I got to sit on
the on the if you're looking atthe stage, I was out of stage
right, But if you're looking atthe stage, I was uh kind of
front row left like where open yourheart happens. And I got as as
a techie, you know, youknow, I'm half techie, half you
know whatever, I do a littlebit of everything. It was so cool
to see them like break down lightsand put lights back up. How they

(07:38):
broke down the spinning stage for likea like a prayer, like like I
saw that somebody posted a video ofit on on Instagram. Like during Live
to Tell, obviously everybody is watchingher, you know, in the portal,
in the you know, the floatingyou know box, So nobody's paying

(07:58):
attention to what's going on on theactual stage because everybody is looking at the
screens. They're you know, seeingall the photos flash. They're looking at
her flying above the crowd. Soit really does take like, Okay,
this is what we're going to do. You're going to do this while we
break down the stage, yeah, put together the stage whatever. Yeah,
it's pretty impressive. It's pretty impressive. How all that like is you know,

(08:20):
all that is happening and then thisis happening when the other thing is
happening and stuff like that. Likeit's it's a and it's a lot of
hands on stuff. Like it's alot of like physical men, like guys
lifting things and putting things together.Like it's not like like a Broadway show.
I feel like it's very you know, like everything's like on pulleys and
sliding across the stage. This waslike they had to rush put it together.

(08:45):
And then like even like for I'msure everyone who's listening has seen the
show. It's in some aspect, either live or on YouTube. But during
the the they have to set upthe the lasers for the boxing rings.
That's another thing that they like. They were putting it up, and I
was like, what the hell arethose things? You know? I mean,
I knew I'd seen this show thenight before, but I couldn't really

(09:07):
comprehend what these like little towers were. And then all of a sudden they
lit up and it was the lasersfor the for the the boxing rings,
which I thought was genius too,Like there wasn't ropes, it was laser
so she could walk through it.It was almost like this futuristic boxing ring
kind of situation. I mean,it makes it makes perfect sense though,
because it looks amazing. It looksjust like it looked just like a boxing

(09:31):
ring, yeah, I mean, and she just like so that way she
could move from the other side ofthe stage to the center, to the
other side, then back to thecenter. And there I noticed them putting
up like the lasers and the Idon't know what to call them, like
the poles. You know where thelasers are, I don't. I'm sure

(09:52):
there's a boxing term for that.I don't I don't know. I noticed
it in Tampa, like I neverreally I guess I didn't like pay attention
the other shows. But when Igot off the plane in Florida, my
friend and I were like, yeah, let's go to Tampa. Sure,
why not? Like it was avery last minute like okay, let's buy

(10:15):
a ticket two hours before the showstarts. And I noticed it in Tampa.
I was like, oh, sothey do, Like it doesn't pop
up like I thought that they wouldbe on like like trapdoor in the stage,
but no, somebody actually comes aroundand attaches them. Yeah. That
was really the really cool part aboutlike seeing the show from so many different
angles is you got to like yougot to experience the show and I did.

(10:37):
I do realize that I was inthe pit what twice? The sound
wasn't as great in the pit asyou would think it would be. Like,
I know, there were a lotof sound issues throughout the whole run
of the show, which is shockingto me that there could be sound issues
in a Madonna concert. But likethe pit depends on the venue too.

(10:58):
Yeah, the pit was like you'rehearing like I think the show is designed
for people sitting in the arena toreally enjoy it volume wise. So when
you because I remember watching some YouTubevideo where they they have like all these
speakers like underneath the stage and likehanging and it's like it's a crazy setup

(11:18):
that there's so many speakers in thatin that for every show to make sure
that the sound travels all the rightdirections. It's really complex and people don't
realize how much goes into it.And like when when people complain about the
you know, the prices of tickets. I mean it's twenty twenty four.
I mean the days of fifteen dollarsMadonna tickets are long gone. Yeah,

(11:41):
but even so, like like thatprice for a ticket was you know,
forty years ago. Like everything's goneup, like you know, from cigarettes
to a soda, you know whatI mean, Like you know, you
pay for it too. I mean, listen, it's not that you're going
to see Madonna's stand there and juststand there. You know, you're seeing

(12:03):
a show. It's like it's it'sa spectacle. I mean, you're there's
there's parts of this show that areyou know, on you know, that
are on the screens. But thenalso like there's always something going on.
Yeah, there's there's something from everyangle, and there's a story to the
music. You know, the dancing, you know from the dancers, and

(12:24):
just you know, just the moodlighting. Like there's there's so much mood
lighting. There's so much like thelasers. The laser show was phenomenal,
especially for uh for Ray of Lightand all that and uh die another day.
The other The other thing too isthat uh like you're I mean you're
you're like, like I said, like, I think this is the first,

(12:46):
Like I think that's the most she'sever used the entire arena almost Like
the only thing I can compare itto is Confessions kind of had those like
side catwalks that she would like runup and down and then uh reinvention to
her had that insane like thing thatwould come down that like bridge that was
pretty that was pretty phenomenal. Thebridge came down for American Life, and

(13:09):
then the bridge came down for Ithink it was holiday at the end.
Well, you know, I'm sorry, I was. I was just gonna
say. I saw videos a friendof mine posted from Nicki Minaj at Barclay's.
Nicki Minaj just performed at Barclays afew weeks ago and I was just

(13:33):
you know, flipping through stories andI was like, oh, wow,
you know, there is a lotof room down there. But Madonna stage
was really big. Yeah, whereveryou were on the floor and even on
like that first like that first selike upper section, you had amazing views.
Yeah, there was really it wasreally a show made for like everyone

(13:54):
to enjoy from wherever they were sittingwhere Nicky's stage obviously wasn't as big and
complex, but you know, noShade, great great performer, Nicki Minaj.
Yeah, but I like comparing, definitely comparing, and like I saw
Depeche Mode a few months ago thereat Barclays and like their stage was obviously

(14:16):
a lot smaller and there was morefloor like seatable floor area. But yeah,
this this show, like just comparingit to other shows from Barclays,
which I feel Barclays is much smallerthan any of the other arenas I went
to. Maybe Tampa, Tampa andBarclays were on par with each other.

(14:37):
I might be wrong, who knows, but to me, just judging by
my eye, they like you reallygot an intimate experience depending on where you
went. I mean they're super superclose. I totally. I totally,
I totally agree with that it wasshe and she like above all. I
really think, you know, everyone'sbeen wanting like the greatest Hits tour,
and I think the closest we gotwas reinvention. You know, Rebel Heart

(15:00):
had a lot of the Rebel Hardtour had a lot of all these in
it too, But I think shecompletely did it her way and completely reinvented
the Greatest Hits tour. It wasn'tjust it wasn't just you know, song
after song after song. You know, there were I do you know,
it was wild how like some songswere like snippets and some songs were you

(15:20):
know, full length or whatever. But it was really like I'm almost guessing
that she you know, she tookthe script for the biopic and kind of
said, you know, all right, got to make sure you put this
in, this in, this in, this in and this in, and
then we'll fill them, you knowwith with other stuff. But like,
I think if the biopic script wasn'twritten, I don't think the tour would

(15:41):
have happened the way it did.Is there any any specific song that you
would have loved to have been includedthat wasn't. I mean, I'll always
I'll always be a writer or diefor Rescue Me. And I'm surprised she
didn't throw it in somewhere, evenin like a even in like an interlude
it or something. But we didget that breath version in breath version in

(16:06):
a Metax, yeah, which Iloved. I thought it was pretty cool.
But yeah, like rescue Me.Like I think I listened to that
Maxi single when it came out, probably that in the Vogue Maxi single,
and just from my love mixing thosethree Maxi singles I listened to about eight
hundred times each that year, andI think that's what kind of made me

(16:27):
be a DJ, because I waslike, oh my god, this mix
is different than this mix, andthis mixes different than this mix. And
that's why my Madonna's definitely made meenjoy hearing songs in different ways, like
remixed or you know, told adifferent way or you know, completely different
arrangement. And I think we werespoiled with that because a lot of other

(16:48):
artists don't do that. I don'tthink a lot of artists do that do
it anymore, you know, Imean, I'm sure like I for a
Maxi single at least I think, you know, now in the digital age,
we just get oh look here's theyou know, blah blah blah remix,
and it's just won a one off, yeah, you know remix.
It's not like, Okay, here'shere's the MAXI single, where you're to
get five remixes of the single.Yeah. Even even like I'm saying,

(17:14):
like, even when she performs live, like a lot of our other artists
don't don't even do new choreography, like and not not talking, not being
shady to Janna Jackson, but butshe's one of my examples. Like,
and even I'm sure when Brittany performskind of if she did Slave for You,
she's going to do it the sameway. Whenever Janet does Rhythm Nation,
she's going to do the same, you know. Like the choreography is

(17:37):
iconic. But I think we're we'respoiled with Madonna, where Like we were
always wondering, like, what isVogue going to be like this time?
Because it's always been different, How'sshe going to do like a virgin?
She's always done it differently, youknow, so it's like it's it's something
to look forward to as a Madonnafan, and you know, we're lucky
because a lot of other artists don'treally do that to their music. You're

(18:00):
right. I think for me,I would have like, I loved the
set list as is, Like Ididn't even have any issues with it at
first, Like like when when whenyou know, the set list came out,
everybody's like, oh I like thissong or I don't want to see
this or whatever. I was like, no, I'm actually really happy with
it. I would would have lovedto have had her like slip in deeper

(18:25):
and deeper, like, yeah, that would have been. That would have
been that definitely would have been interesting, like maybe maybe in the ballroom scene,
you know, like somewhere in therethat would have been. That would
have been fun. But or rescueme. Yeah, and all we all
we got was the I'm going tobe there, be there, I'm going
to be there yeah, and thein Bob's intro, Yeah, Bob's intro.
So I mean that was fun,But I would have loved to just

(18:49):
you know, a little little extra, little something extra, yeah the chorus
or something. Yeah. But nowother than that, I mean the set
list was wonderful. She really did. I think she she she definitely catered
to us as fans, like,Okay, I'm gonna throw in you know,

(19:11):
bad Girl. You know, thefans want to hear Bad Girl.
They've never heard, you know, most of most people have never seen it
live, you know, because sheonly performed it live I think once,
and that was on SNL right, and it was just in a perfect spot
of the show too. Oh mygod, I mean, and it was
beautiful. I loved every minute ofthat. Die another day. That was
the first time she performed that sinceReinvention. Yeah, so amazing, like

(19:38):
you said, with the lasers, and I think I'll circle back to that
when we talk about Brazil bedtime stories. You know, there we go.
We've only ever performed live once.I mean, wasn't that. I think
there's an interlude during Reinvention, butyou know, it wasn't actually formed.

(20:00):
And then you know, take aBow. I know you you you didn't
care too much for for take Aboulive, but it was just it was
just surprising that, like I meanit, But then when I think about
it, it's not an easy songto sing. There are songs that are
more of a studio performance, youknow, and it's hard to replicate that
live because it was such a softand low sung you know, thing like

(20:23):
like even like this needs to beMy Playground is so such a fragile vocal
delivery that I cannot imagine. It'sprobably why she's never done it live because
it's it's not exciting to perform.I would imagine it's it's a beautiful song
as is take a bow, butlike even when she did it with Babyface

(20:44):
at the American Music Awards, shekind of changed a couple little vocal arrangement
moments to kind of give it alittle more spunk. But it's not an
easy song to sing because it's solike soft in the way. It's hard
to replicate that. I mean, she could have done like, you know,
like maybe like the in what isit in this? Like this the
remix, like the Soul Remix orwhatever, she could have done it that,

(21:07):
but I mean it's that still wasthe same vocals. It just had
a different beat, but you know, so that's but it was just it's
just weird. It's weird because youknow, I love Madonna obviously forever and
ever and ever, but it's alwaysstartling to me when she just can't hit
a note in her own song. It's just so weird to be well,
I think it's I don't know.I think you know, over time your

(21:30):
voice changes, you know, andthen you know, obviously sitting in the
studio, you know, maybe doingtake after take, yeah, you get
it perfect. You know. Thenmaybe you know, doing it live,
you don't necessarily get it perfect allthe time. But yeah, and then
she sings express herself with guitar, just her voice and the guitar, and
it sounds fantastic, fantastic. Sothat's what's so weird, is like we

(21:52):
know she can sing, but maybeit's the whole like thing in your ear,
she can't really hear herself kind ofthing, you know, because Rain
was wonderful like there, but youknow, there were a few little like
questionable notes hit even in even inthe opening number. I mean, I
just think, you know, she'sshe's been through a lot the last couple
of years, you know, youknow, but it kind of brings it

(22:15):
down to like, Okay, sheis human, you know. It's it's
a it's a raw moment and I'mhere for it. I just am like
we I'll speak for myself. I'msure you feel the same way, you
know, we we we we lookat her as like this, you know,
godly like figure, but like it'sthose moments where it's like, okay,

(22:40):
yeah you are human and it's okayand we love it. Yeah,
No, I I get you,Yeah, I get that. The only
the only the surprise song for mewas Mother and Father, which blew me
away. That was included, Butit would have been really cool if sometimes
she put in promise to try. That would have been a really interesting or

(23:03):
just did promise to try instead ofMother and Father. Like I love Mother
and Father. I love that littlerap part in the rage and the spoken
word part, and her voice soundedgreat on that. It always sounds great
live whenever she does Mother and Father. She also hadn't done that since reinventions.
This is this is definitely like thereare a lot of reinvention songs that
got pulled back out, but promiseto Try would have been would have destroyed

(23:25):
everyone, Oh for sure. Imean, Live to Tell destroyed a lot
of people, you know, nightafter night, And I think that you're
right, it would have. Youknow, it would have especially if you
know somebody had lost their mom,you know, recently or whenever. I
mean, it does kind of hitclose to home. I mean, I

(23:47):
wonder if she could have done itlike like countrified version, like kind of
how how Mother and Father was likein the in the Cowgirl up it,
Like I wonder if she could haveadded like a little guitar to it,
so that made it less dreary, you know, I made a little more
singable some nights, didn't David hadthe guitar and sang with her on Mother

(24:08):
and Father. Yeah, I thinkhe started a little later in the in
the in the in the tour, and then they kept that. They kept
it in for for Tampa. Iremember seeing it in Tampa and it was
it was it was it was sweet, it was touching, it was that
was a really touching moment. Iwould sound it really cool. And she
even she even acknowledged in her mother'sThey post like it's wild that she's looking

(24:32):
at her mom on one side ofthe stage and then she's looking at David's
mom on the other side, andshe's kind of replaced David's mom. So
it was a really wild like momentwatching that, Like he's singing, and
then they meet in the middle andthey're like, we're in this together,
like you know, we both lostour mothers. But we're like, David

(24:55):
is the apple of her eye.We know that, you know, And
I'm did to see what his career, what he turns out to become,
because he's got a lot of hisaz he's got a lot of heart,
and he's got you know, obviouslyhas her her her approval and whatever he
does, So I'm curious to seewhat he does. He is he's learning
from the best, So he reallyis. I mean if he if out

(25:22):
of you know, any any celebritychild, you know to learn from their
parent, I mean, who betterto learn from than than Madonna? So
he that's a work ethic alone exactly. I mean I was thinking about this
too, you know, bringing upwork ethic. We had a lot of

(25:48):
time with this tour, you know, not necessarily seeing it, but just
a lot of time with it.You know, it was announced January of
what, twenty three, twenty twentythree? Yeah, you know, Okay,
it's announced. Okay, we gota rush to get tickets. Okay,
you know you're reading the little youknow rumors online. Oh I heard
this was going to be rehearsed andthat, you know, and then everybody's

(26:11):
getting together crew wise, and dancerwise and they're rehearsing and then obviously,
you know, she got very sickand that was you know, everything was
put on hold, you know, for her health. Was the scariest day
ever, It really was. Itwas my phone blew up. I think
everybody that I know texted me what'sgoing on? Yeah, and I'm like,

(26:37):
I don't know. And I'm like, okay, make sure every every
you know, celebrity that I knowMadonna's like close with I'm like, turn
on notifications on Twitter and Instagram incase they post, like, what's going
on Rosie fill us in, youknow, And there are a couple of
days of quiet, right there wasthere was There was quite a few days

(27:00):
where we didn't you know, nobodysaid anything. I mean and listen,
you know, she's she's she wasrecovering and she was dealing with, you
know, being sick. But itwas scary, and you know, she
she jumped back right back on thathorse, and she gave herself some time
to heal, you know, andI'm sure even though she was healing and

(27:22):
resting, she was still working, you know, from her her bedroom more,
you know, her house, youknow. Okay, Well, I
got to pick up where I leftoff? What can I do? Because
that woman is always working and alwayscreating. It's it's fascinating, It really
fascinating, and it really shows, especially with this tour, with the amount

(27:45):
of detail. Well, that's thething that I think is different about her
compared to every other artist out there, with the exception of maybe like Beyonce's
doing it lately and Taylor Ships aredoing it lately. Like she never really
goes away like this is this myyou know, She's always like and especially
with social media now obviously she's alwayslike closing a ruckus or whatever. But
throughout the like like a good portionof her career, the longest break she

(28:11):
would ever take is like to doa Broadway show, like when she did
Speed the Plow and then when shehad her baby, like she missed a
a bunch of tours there, butlike she really like it was like every
couple of years in album, everyevery in between the album there was a
soundtrack song in between that there wasa movie that she did, like she
never like I feel like like Dogaddisappears for a little bit, Katie Perry

(28:33):
disappears for her a little bit.Around a Grande has been like, you
know, she's putting out a lotof music. Rihanna kind of went and
did like she's been out of musicfor a while, but she's been doing
other stuff. But like and nowBeyonce and Taylor, I think are the
only ones that are like constantly inyour face like doing stuff like not taking
a break. But like Madonna reallynever took a break from the beginning,

(28:56):
and I think that's why I likepeople might have gotten like annoyed at her
or like sick of her. Shenever she never let us, she ever
gave us time to miss her,you know which I was I was fine
with. I just wanted more, you know, yeah, the same way.
I mean, it's you know,it's okay, what's next? Oh,
you know she's talking about, youknow, writing another film, or

(29:18):
oh she was asked to be inthis film, or she's going to you
know, appear at this event orthat event, or you know, what's
what do you what do we thinkthe next album is going to be?
Like I don't know, there's alwaysa buzz, like you said, so,
I mean that's that's wine with me. And she's I mean there's there's

(29:41):
not many there's nobody that can compare, you know, especially now with I
mean just look at look at Brazil, you know, all those people.
It was unbelievable and what a like, what a crazy like way to end
this fantastic Like she didn't miss oneshow. She didn't. She didn't cancel

(30:04):
one show, which I don't thinkhas ever happened in all her Like she
didn't cancel opening night, you know, she didn't, and other other tours
she's like moved the opening night tilla week later or whatever. I mean,
obviously she moved everything three months aheadbecause of her illness. But like
she did all eighty one shows,no complaints, no injuries, nothing.

(30:26):
I don't know, I don't knowhow because she's she still wounded from the
hip. I'm sure you know whatI mean. I mean, well you
have to remember too, it's notfour nights in a row anymore, five
nights in a row anymore. Youknow, she did like one or two,
like she did two nights and thenshe had a day off, and
then there was another night, andthen she had maybe you know, two

(30:47):
or three days off because they weremoving to a different city. So I
think that that kind of helps outquite a bit. I mean, especially
they faced it out a little better. I mean, I don't know if
that's the real reason why. IMean, the reason could have been,
you know, scheduling issues with withthese venues. You know, she kind
of she came to America right inthe middle of it. I think,

(31:08):
whatever sport, what is it,hockey or basketball or whatever, so a
lot of the venues could have beenbooked already for games. You know that
that could be as well. Butwhatever the case was, I think it
worked out better in her favor.Yeah, because she she was kind of
forced like, Okay, well Ihave a night off, like let's chill

(31:30):
out, you know, and andMadonna's way, you know, own way
of chilling out. Yeah, thatonly knows It means she's, you know,
planning what the next thing is.You know, she's I Meanwhile,
she's I got to rehearse. Youknow, she's rehearsing in her in her
bathroom, you know, the entirethe entire full run of the show,
you know, when she should beresting. But that's okay. It worked.

(31:55):
It worked out in the end,and I wouldn't try eat it for
anything. I really like, I'mlooking at the set list now and I
keep going back to it and I'myou know, I'm sorry if I'm repeating
myself. No, no, no, no, It's fine, pretty fucking
perfect. Yeah, it definitely,I mean obviously, like there's gonna be

(32:15):
some songs. I thought, likewe really didn't get Like I was surprised,
like Lucky Star wasn't there. Iwas surprised, you know, like
more from the first album. Youknow, it would have been nice if
we got like a little bit ofphysical attraction maybe, you know, like
a little snippet of that. Thatwould have been fun amazing. I also
wish, like I feel like everythingI'm saying is things that I didn't like.
But I mean, I would seethe show once a week if I

(32:37):
could, for the rest of mylife. It was that phenomenal and that
life changing for me. Every night, Like I would leave the arena like
physically and emotionally exhausted, sweaty andjust tired, lost my voice several times.
But I wish that the you know, the first outfit was so gorgeous,
so iconic. I just wish therewas another song in it or something

(33:00):
or I don't know, or likeI don't know, like I feel like
blows out like have like a closingnumber in that in that outphit you're talking
about nothing really matters and then likedisappear, you know. But yeah,
like I feel like that was sucha beautiful outfit and it was only used
for one amazing song and it wasyou know, and also you know,

(33:21):
like then she went right into theyou know, the time capsule kind of
thing, you know whatever. Ijust wish that maybe, like I don't
know, but I guess when Madonnadoes something, it's it's that's the way
it is, so we just haveto accept it, you know. I
mean it would have it would havebeen a fun like kind of little like

(33:42):
I don't want to say throwback becauseshe's never really repeated an outfit in the
tour, but I mean Girly showwhere you had the mime, yeah,
you know, the clown, themime however you want to whatever you want
to call them, you know, periodically, it would have been fun to
have that at you know, thatoutfit with that with that head piece back

(34:04):
for at the end of the showor maybe like right like maybe after after
the the Michael Jackson like a virginmash up number, you know, as
like almost like a like a closingof the show and then the finale being
you know, bitch on Madonna andCelebration. Yeah, I guess, yeah
that I guess that's why the outfitreally couldn't come back, you know,

(34:25):
because it was like she had thatfun little veil on with you know,
it was more like a party thelast couple of songs. Yeah. Yeah.
So it's just so it's it's fascinatinghow like you sit there and like
when you when you find out thatshe's going on tour, Like some of
the questions that always come to mymind is like is she going to do
Vogue? What's it going to belike? Is she going to do like

(34:47):
a Virgin? What's it going tobe like? And then like how is
she entering the stage? Like howis you know, like we had we
had the most amazing disco ball entrancewith Confessions. We had the the cage
come down from Rebel Heart, wehad the you know, she was the
angry bride in m D and Alike the divorcee with the gun and you

(35:12):
know she's praying that the thing camedown from the ceiling and then landed.
You know, like she's had somereally amazing entrances. The only one that
I still don't understand is sticky andsweet. But that's that's fine. That
wasn't my favorite show, it's myleast favorite show. But she always has
this really interesting way of entering thestage. I thought this was kind of
simple and a little bit of athrowback to like drown World entrance in a

(35:35):
way. She kind of came inon a spaceship, you know, in
a way. Yeah, yeah,I mean, well, isn't isn't what?
So it's interesting because I know Imentioned the portal, you know,
the floating you know, the floatingplatform that she was on. That's that
they were calling that the portal. And then I know that the stage,

(35:57):
you know center stage, you knowwith the with the tears, that's supposed
to be like kind of like thecake, you know, the piece above
it, the light piece, thelight ring that was above that. Does
that have a does that have likea title? Do we do we have
like what that's supposed to be oris it just a light ring? No?
But there is, uh, thereis a painting that I think I

(36:22):
can figure down the second I thinkI still have it. There's a painting.
It's not salvad or Dolly, butit's an older Italian artist. I
find it in the second It wasone of my uh, it was one
of my profile voted. There isfabricio Clerici c l E r I ce
I. It's called Corpus her medicaher medicum and it's basically it's it's just

(36:47):
like, it's basically the same exactthing that only hers had lights on it.
But that's the rumor to what andit means corpus her medica means and
forget what it means. I cangoogle it right now, Thank God for
computers. You're gonna go on theIt's a book. It's also a book,

(37:12):
and it's about Oh it's Greek writings, Yeah, whose authorship is traditionally
attributed to the legendary Hellenistic figure Hermes. It's a collection of treaties of a
philosophical, religious, theological, aswell as theosophical nature. The collection played

(37:34):
an important role in the development ofthe philosophy of alchemy and formed the basis
for an alchemist philosophy of nature. So she is kind of like this earth
mother kind of goddess coming, youknow, coming to to you know,
to greet us. And then sheflips her flips her dress off and runs

(37:55):
back and then she comes out andshe's you know, she's twenty two year
olden on again and she's ready toparty. Yeah. But yeah, it
was interesting Madonna the scriptures, Yes, exactly, it was very It was
like I I giggle at it,but I could see why people think that.
You know, like a lot ofher performances are like Satan worshiping and

(38:17):
all these like she does. Sheknows what she's doing, and she's a
lot of religious iconography and and twistedand revamps it and makes it her own,
which I love. I mean, after all, her name is Madonna,
So Cult of Madonna sign me up, exactly. I've been been been
a staunch member since the mid eighties. But yeah, I like, I

(38:40):
see the tough thing with me isI mean, I love Madonna, I
love her dearly and all that, but I don't I don't like my Madonna
happy. I know that sounds terrible. Like I like her, yeah,
like when she's dark and button pushingand angry like so I love I love

(39:02):
everybody. I love into the groove, I love opening your Heart and all
that, but I mean open yourheart it has a sadness to it,
which I love that's why I loveit. But like I remember the first
the first night we saw the show. I saw the show was I was
alone, but I was right bythe cube, and I remember sitting there
going somebody was sitting next to me. I think that that I knew,
so I was like giggling with them, and I was like, you know,

(39:24):
the first song, the first song, we knew what it was,
you know, blew us away. And then we got you know, we
got all these party songs like Everybodyand Holiday blah blah, and she's doing
Holiday and I was like, God, it's such a party, Like like
I don't like, I don't.I was hoping this wasn't going to be
just a big party show, youknow. And then all of a sudden,

(39:46):
i'd like to say that, shestarts singing Holiday over and over again
and all her dancers die in frontof her, and I was like,
oh, it's not a party anymore. I'm like, she she gave us
a little bit of party, andthen she was like, let me steamroll
you with emotion. That literally hitme like like somebody slapped me in the

(40:07):
face on that show, because Imean I had seen I had seen,
you know, I'd seen some ofit on Instagram when it was live the
first night or whatever, so Ithink I had an idea of what was
going to happen, but being therein person and being like, oh,
it's party, it's party. Andalso and then it's the Madonna. I
love. It's the you know, pain and suffering and and you know expression

(40:30):
and tears and all that kind ofstuff like that's the Madonna. That's why,
you know. Drownd World is probablymy one of my favorite shows because
it was just freaking scary. Thatshow is scary. She was at angry.
I revisited it the other day, actually, maybe maybe about a week
ago. I was I was listeningto it because you know, I have
the audio and I was listening andit is a lot of mood like moody

(40:57):
songs. Yeah, I think they'rethe only like, really party a party
song is what holiday? At theend, she pulls it and pulls it
out and says like, all right, I made you suffer. I made
all you all you like casual fanssuffer. En. Here's here's the holiday
for you, you know. Andthat's in that tour she only did to
two old songs. It was likeLisa and h and holiday. Well,

(41:22):
I also think, you know,I think the Girly Show had a lot
of sadness and and pain in itand and like please for like a plea
for people to like wake up abit about things, especially like the AIDS
crisis and all that kind of stuff. And that's why I was like really
excited for like in This Life gettinga little good at getting its little throwback

(41:49):
in the right right when when thelast dancer uh dies and she covers him
with the with her jacket and wehear that little bit of sitting on a
park bench that I think that likebrought back every memory from the Erotica album.
For me, brought back the GirleyShow as my first Madonna concert and
being like we always loved In ThisLife, but after seeing it live in

(42:10):
the Girley Show, it became likeit was so much more gritty and gut
he roll once we saw the wayshe performed it. And being that it
wasn't wasn't played in full, shouldwe should we play it for the for
our listeners? I think so.I think yeah, we're gonna play in
This Life from the Erotica album nineteenninety two, a song she wrote about

(42:32):
two of her friends who died ofAIDS when she was young, and uh,
here's in this life sitting on aboutbed thinking about the friend nob he

(43:16):
was only twenty three gone before hehad his time A game, went about
wanting. He didn't want his friendsto see him cry. Knew that they

(43:44):
was dawning. I didn't have achance to say go by and this line
I love you all what? Itwas not a go I help you ask

(44:15):
myself what running down the ball overthinking about a man and who he was

(44:42):
like a father too, nothing inthe world that he would do. Trying
to respect myself seven we're all madea flash? Why should he be treated

(45:10):
differently? Shoot the batter who youchoose to? And I love you poll

(45:30):
what not? I have to askus? What be on massa? And

(45:51):
I wonder who's going do? Wholoves place? It is the less sign
I'm supposed to up happens in comments. It's not ms, I lock you

(46:45):
all so what it's not happy asmy say what we love past time?

(47:08):
And I wonder who's who it donswho knows things? He is a Roman,
I'm supposed to go like a dophens. It's not any who lost your

(47:34):
best friend die. Have you everwatched to grow up and cry? So
say that I isn't fair what I'dsay that people just don't care what They'd

(47:59):
rather turn the other way, waitfor this thing to go? Why do
we have to pretend? Someday?I pray it will beats it this stuffs

(48:29):
in, this time bits this biznighttime all right? Yeah? That like

(48:54):
that that that sound, that likethat that piano sound. I remember my
first listening to that album and justbeing like, this is the weirdest song
ever. And it was so sadand so so profound because there's like,
who else was writing songs back thenabout people dying of age? Nobody?
You know, No, no,she was, I mean. And also

(49:14):
it's not just people two friends, like two close friends of her, yeah,
you know, not the two ofher close friends, I should say.
And the thing is you know thatbox that she floated around it and
floated past, you know the thing. A lot of things had to be
a few moments had to be changedfor the for the for the real concert,
because it was outdoors, there's noceiling, and I was curious to

(49:37):
see what they would do for that. And you know, they brought out
the little park bench, and shewalked up to it and she she kind
of made love to that park bench. She was all over it and straddling
it and laying on it and allthat kind of stuff as one does on
a park bench. Yeah, that'swhat we do, especially like in Watchington
Square Park. And I found itreally miraculous and so full circle that the

(50:00):
show was on Keith Haring's birthday,You're right, liked she mention mentioned like
how in all of the Cosmos universedid it happen to be that way?
Like it was just perfect. Imean, I don't even know if she
knew, like did she plan itor did it just that was the only
day they had and like she waslike, oh, wow, it's also

(50:21):
Keith Haring's birthday. Because that thathit me like like a ton of bricks
too, Like wow, like theuniverse conspired to make that happen the way
it happened, you know. Well, And I was wondering, I was
like, I wonder if she's goingto like to make to a tribute,
you know, aside in addition tolive to tell if she was going to
make mention of it or you know, do do a little tribute or you

(50:45):
know whatever, because you know,Madonna's worked with the you know, the
Keith Haring Foundation before in the past, and yeah and whatnot. And I'm
really glad that she, you know, took extra time to make mention that
it was his birthday, and youknow it's she I mean, Keith's one
of the great artists of the eighties. Yeah, a long time my opinion,

(51:07):
street street art, you know, just culture in general. So it
was it was it was nice, you know she I mean, she she
she usually does shout him out,you know, she shouted him out a
couple of times, you know. And Blonde Ambition. She had the show

(51:28):
that she dedicated for Keith. Yeah, you made that beautiful, like that
beautiful speech about you know, hedoesn't have the luxury of living and everyone's
fighting in the in the in thetour and stuff like that. She's like,
you know, the shows for Keith, who doesn't have the luxury of
being alive. Like she really smackedthe dancers in the face with the reality
of you know, like, don'ttake anything for granted. You know,

(51:52):
Yeah, it's true. Let metell you, it was seeing that show.
I watched the show I was inMontreal, visiting my friend Van,
and I made him. He wantedto go to a bar and I'm like,
nope, I don't feel like goingto the bar because and he's like,
oh, you just want to gohome and watching Ma Donna. I'm
like, yeah, sort of.So I watched it alone in his room,

(52:14):
you know, my little room thati'd stayed when I'm there on my
little phone. Figured out the VPNthing, probably thanks to Steve v Stevie
kind of filled me about what aVPN is, and I figured out and
the thing is throughout the whole day, every time I signed on to the
Global app, the Global play app, it was popping up. And then
I went on airplane mode a fewtimes because I tried to save my battery

(52:37):
and that bumped me off and Iwas like, I can't find the broadcast
now. I was like, Iwas like, I'll just watch it tomorrow.
And I got really upset, andthen I rebooted set up the VPN
again. I was like, oh, there it is. But I literally
got down to the bottom of hisbuilding before I went in and I signed
on and I clicked on it andnothing really matters had just started and I

(53:00):
thought it was like this most miraculousperfect timing that as soon as I got
to his apartment building the concert started, because you know, it took forever
to start. And then I realizedhalfway through the show that I'm like thirty
minutes or twenty minutes lag behind becauseeverybody's like, you're only on this part,
and it's like, okay, Iguess I'm a little behind, but

(53:20):
I'm still watching. Well even that'sthat's that's the trouble with you know,
live streaming, you know, becauseI know I was. I was chatting
with other people too, and theywould say like, oh, blah blah
blah, and I'd be like,oh, I'm not there yet. You
know, I'm still on. I'mstill on this, So there was there
was a little bit of a lag, but I mean I had that set
up from twelve, I think twelveo'clock our time. I was like,

(53:44):
all right, just just set itup, make sure it's working, make
sure I can get on. AndI sat there and I watched Brazilian television
for a few hours. There wasa variety show, you know, I
watched My Girl dubbed in Portuguese.I saw the news. I saw the
news. You know, I don'tknow what, like a stitch of Portuguese,

(54:06):
but the news with that flooding theyin Brazil, they had like like
devastating flooding. Yeah, you don'tlike what ten million dollars to that or
something she did. I don't knowwhat the conversion is, but she did
donate it in the Brazilian money.I don't even know what it's called.
I apologize to everybody. So ifyou're from Brazil and you're listening, I

(54:29):
apologize. Well. The weird thingis like she probably wanted to keep it
a secret, and of course somebody'sfound out and she's like Madonna secretly donates.
I'm like, well, it's nota secret anymore. And it didn't
take long for that secret to comeout. So but we've known her as
that she's she's she doesn't always telleveryone about her her philanthropy unless she wants

(54:50):
you to get involved, you knowwhat I mean. But I love that
about her. She actually does itfor the right reasons. You know,
she's got all this money, shemight as well put it where her mouth
is, money where her mouth is, and she doesn't have to tell everyone.
You know, you're right, you'rein it. It's wonderful. I
wish more people were like her inthat regard. You know. Yeah,

(55:10):
well, you know, there aresome some celarties out there that don't you
know, they don't pay attention, they don't say anything, and I mean
it's it's kind of sad, likespeak up, use your platforms. Yeah,
it's actually very it's very concerning rightnow, like what a lot of
things that are going on in theworld, especially like the election coming up,

(55:30):
Like I don't know what nobody's nobody'stalking about it, Like nobody's talking
about registered to vote, nobody's talkingabout don't vote for this guy, or
you know, like no one's takinga stand, and it's weird. I
think that's like everybody's just watching andwaiting and you can't they're not allowed to
or something. And especially with everythingthat's going on in Israel and Gaza,
like you're not allowed to say stuff. And I flipped through it all,

(55:53):
you know, I was what Iwas, you know, scrolling through Instagram
and somebody had posted Madonna's performance ofForbidden Love from the Confessions tour and that
is still relevant today because the twodancers that are dancing together have but you
know, the Israeli star and theMuslim was it the Enville What is it

(56:16):
for? What it's called? Iknow what you're talking about. I don't
know what the term. So it'slike it's about religion. It's not getting
along. She's like forbidden love andthat was almost twenty years ago, you
know. So it's she's been, she's been, you know, preaching things
that should have been resolved a longtime ago and they're still not resolved.

(56:37):
So and there's you know the Eurovisionperformance from twenty nineteen, Yes, that
was she performed Future and the dancershad the flags. They had the the
you know, the flag from Gazaand I forgot about that. They also
had the guess So she she predictedCOVID, you know, she she predicted

(57:00):
COVID, and she predicted this. She is that. I think she she
invented COVID. Actually Madonna invented COVID. The Great Equalizer. Yeah, the
Long Island Madonna. She is sheis a medium the media, Madonna.

(57:21):
Did you ever see that? Youever see that? I think it was
like a Ronald mcdonkey post where helike, you know, superimposes all these
these photos of celebrities and he didlike the Long Island Madonna and it's you
know Madonna with a Teresa Capudo, you know Karen haircut, so goodness,

(57:42):
hilarious. Yeah, I think Ithink our next episode were probably gonna have
to We'll have to We'll have torevisit the tour again because I think we
need another hour to just We'll probablymaybe next episode we can like actually go
through each each each number and thentalk about each number, just to give
it a little more thorough because wekind of there's so much to talk about
about this tour, so it's itwould take us too long to to cover

(58:07):
everything in one episode. So onthat note, I guess we'll have to
say good night. Yeah, well, you know, Pride is coming up
in New York. We have thesixteenth Daniel Madonna Worship Night is coming up
in August on her actual birthday atthree dollars bill. You can follow Stevie

(58:29):
Vox Stevie s t E v IE v o X on Instagram. You
follow me at DJ Chauncey D orfollow Madonna Worship on Instagram and you get
tickets to the Madonna Worship Night inBrooklyn. And we're also doing one on
Fire Island on the twenty fifth ofAugust, kind of like a t dance.
It's the Lye Sa Bonita edition that'sfree. It might be a very

(58:50):
special guest performance or waiting and waitingto hear confirmation and before I announce it,
but it's very exciting. I don'tknow whether we're gonna be able to
get an episode in before Pride, but we might be able to sneak one
in in June. June is alittle crazy for New York City DJs,
especially a gay bar DJs. GayDJs. Uh, I think I have

(59:12):
like one day off in June, and I would love to spend it with
Stevie. That's for sure. I'msure. But we'll sneak something in.
Yeah, we'll figure we'll figure somethingout. But thank you for listening everyone.
Uh, what song do you thinkwe should? We should close with?
Stevie? You had an idea, right, I did have an idea,
and I think that it it's itdefinitely speaks to how we feel because

(59:34):
you know the tour is over.I think we should close with you must
Love Me because where do we gofrom here? It's a perfect, perfect
idea perfect Wow. Yeah, yeah, that song is such a one of
my favorite one of my favorite ballads. It's one of those like double entendre
things too. It's like she's likeyou you must love me, or but
then you must love me. It'slike it's each time she sings it,

(59:59):
it's kind of means a different thing, which is really wonderful. Nobody does
a ballad like Madonna. Absolutely not. We need it. We need even
if she can't hit all the noteslive, which, by the way,
when she sings you Must Love Melive, she sounds absolutely beautiful. So
and also when she did this littlelight of Mine in Rio right before I

(01:00:22):
Express Yourself, she sounded amazing. That's that's gonna be in the next album,
the next record we have. It'sgonna have this little eighte of mine.
It's gonna open. She should doa cover album with all like religious
songs. She should. She shouldre record the Sister Ex soundtrack. There

(01:00:42):
you go. Yeah, like justMadonna, maybe have Whoopee on a couple
of tracks, you know, yeah, just talking to him like rapping like
Michelle and dego Cella. Gosh, well, all right, well we're gonna,
we're gonna, we're gonna close upshop and finished with the Oscar winning
song from Avida, one of twoOscar winning songs that she sung. God,

(01:01:07):
this is almost this is almost thirtyyears old. Yeah right, it
will be what the next next year? Right? Six? Right? One?
Did I thought it was ninety five? Maybe Avita came out in ninety

(01:01:28):
six? Wow, it's it's likeit's like twenty eight years old. That's
crazy, right, well there exactly. Well, thank you everybody for listening.
Make sure you click like and subscribesand all that kind of stuff,
and we'll get you. We'll getto another episode as soon as we possibly

(01:01:50):
can. Goodnight, Good night,Stevie, can night everyone. Where do
we go from me? This isn'twhere we intended to be? We had
it all. You believe in me, I believe in you. Certainties disappeared.
