(00:00):
I'm going to be there. I'mgoing to be there. I'm going to
be there to be there. I'mgoing to be there. I'm going to
be there to be there. I'mgoing to be there. I'm going to
be there to be there. I'mgoing to be there there, I'm gonna
let you stay. I'm going tobe there to be there. I'm going

(00:23):
to be there to be there.I'm going to be there to be there,
and I'm going to be there tobe there. I'm going to be
there to be there. I'm goingto be there and I'm going to be
there. You survived and I'm stillalive. Yeah, and the boots have
come and tramped on me and I'mstill alive. You are alive, and

(00:45):
your well, you're booked and blessed. Yeah, it's been a really it's
been a really wonderful month of likescenes. You know, I work at
Stone Wall, and like we've hada lot of fundraisers and special Pride events
and like I really got to witnesssome beautiful moments on that stage upstairs.
It's really it's a blessing working there. Like Andrew Day did a did a

(01:07):
performance for Glenn Close's charity, andshe performed Strange Fruit to Billie Holliday Classic
and then she did her song RiseUp, and then we put We had
a bunch of other people, butthat was that was definitely like one of
the highlights of my month, justwitnessing that. You know, they brought
in a whole sound system and everything, just like they did when they brought
Madonna and they you know, theybrought in all their own speakers and all

(01:29):
that kind of stuff. So itwas it was a high tech experience in
our little dive bar cabaret room.I mean, I just going by everything
that has been posted. You know, you repost all of your you know,
hey going to be here, thisis I'm doing this event, that
event. I mean, Stonewall waspretty pretty well stocked this Pride season.

(01:57):
I mean those gay bars are butyeah, I mean it seemed like Stonewall
definitely had a lot going on.Yeah, it was. It was the
fifty to fifth anniversary of the Riots, and it definitely felt similar to World
Pride which was in twenty nineteen, which was the fiftieth anniversary, so we
definitely got that that energy was there. And then they also opened up the
visitors center next door on Friday, that just passed, so that was a

(02:21):
big to do. It's not affiliatedwith Stonewall, but if you're ever in
the West Village in Manhattan, definitelycheck out the visitor center. It's it's
connected to the National Monument. Thatis the whole area around Stonewall and the
and the park across the street andthe whole all the area where the riots
happened. That's where. That's thewelcoming center now for the for the National

(02:44):
Parks Association. I think that wasthe last time I saw you too,
was we were sitting in the parkon a park bench thinking about a friend
of mine exactly and actually, yes, you did, I actually did.
So that was a great day. That was really cool. There was there

(03:05):
was a beautiful day. It wasa beautiful weather. It was a little
hot, but that's yeah. Whenyou live in New York, everyone you
know, you know you you andespecially with social media nowadays, you know
what people are doing, but youdon't always get to actually be in their
presence. And I see Stevie alot at you know, at some of
the bars, if I'm djaying orif I'm hanging out or whatever. But
it's very rare that we get tojust like sit down and just chat and
uh and be human, you know. Yeah, I mean, well,

(03:30):
I didn't see you at all thismonth. That was the last time I
saw you was end of May becausethat was the last time we did the
episode of the podcast we recorded beforethat, and then you know, the
flood gates opened and you know, the pride gods took you, took you
away. You know that it wasreally interesting was I managed to I managed

(03:52):
to get a lot of sleep.I would, you know, go home
and not you know, I hadmy sheriff you know, drinking nights.
But I definitely like was new, were like too physically exhausted. I guess
I'm learning how to like manage, you know. But I was telling a
friend of mine, It's like it'sfunny, June, you're like NonStop,
NonStop, and then July like Ihave like days off, and it's like,

(04:14):
what do you do with yourself?I can actually like just watch TV
like normal people. So yeah, good for you, you deserve it.
Yeah, I mean I'm a verylike as much as I'm a you know,
obviously DJ. I'm always out ata party here and there, blah
blah blah. I really do likestaying home and like cooking dinner and just
you know, chilling. And youknow, I like being alone because I'm
always around groups of people. Yeah, yeah, so it's it's it's nice

(04:39):
to just be by myself, youknow, yeah, because you're always on.
And I also get to, youknow, when I have those three
nights, like we get to recordanother episode. That's right, that's right.
And the thing is, we haven'treally we haven't really talked about much
since. I mean, it's beena hell of a year for Madonna.
Like it's been like well, lastyear and this year. Like to be

(04:59):
a Madonna fan right now, asyou all know, is the greatest feeling
in the world always, but it'sbeen exceptional lately. It really has I
think, like I don't know, maybe maybe in the past, like we
kind of took it for granted, and then when she got sick, it
was like, oh shit, youknow, we didn't know what was going

(05:20):
on, what was going to happen. And now I feel like it's like,
okay, let's see what is shedoing. Oh she posted this,
What does this mean? What isthat? You know, little hints like
you know, my baby's got asecret. Yeah, that was like where
that was like, what's going onwith that? I had a little I
have a little I had a littlebit of an inside scoop like about that

(05:41):
there's a possible possibilities of things thatwere happening, but still didn't know,
you know, exactly what was happening. And uh, little by little we
got to find out that she wasmaking an appearance at the Ladyland Festival on
the night before Pride. Did yougo to that last year? Because I
know they did it last year. No, not my first time. I

(06:03):
was mesmerized it for I don't knowif some of you have ever been to
Brooklyn, but it was underneath theBrooklyn Bridge, and it was under the
cabridge, under the Cabridgeaziasco, Kasiasco. I think that's how you say it.
Do you know about that bridge whenit in my old apartment in the
story when when the lights that areon that bridge, the bridge is lit

(06:25):
up in all these like rainbow colorsconstantly in the summer of the pandemic twenty
twenty from my porch in my lastapartment. If you looked like to the
right or whatever, I don't knowwhich direction it was, but it looks
like aliens were invading because the cloudswere like you just saw like like you

(06:46):
know when there's a grand opening ofsomething and that like light goes around.
People have that big spotlight that shinesinto the into the sky. Do you
just saw these random like purple andblue and pink lights and you're like,
what's going on up there? Butthat's the same bridge, right, yes,
yes, but it was just massiveundertaking. There were like a whole
line of food trucks, three stagesI had. I actually I we can

(07:12):
talk about this. I actually DJeda Madonna party at three dollars Bill earlier.
Yeah, on the twenty ninth Saturday, and that will be the site
of the sixteenth annual Madonna Worship Night, which is actually on August sixteenth,
so it's the sixteenth on the onthe sixteenth, and that's their actual birthday.
So and it's never I've done Madonnaworship obviously for fifteen years now.

(07:36):
This is my sixteenth year and it'snever actually been on her birthday. So
this is really exciting this year. That is in three dollar Bill is a
great space, fantastic and then likethe staff is wonderful. I know a
bunch of the people for years butI opened their party. They did a
Madonna Pride party. It was supposedto be in the yard. They have

(07:56):
a big yard area that has abeautiful dance floor and really exciting like energy
and all that, but they movedthis in because of the I think there
was fear of rain and there endedup being another party out there that took
precedent. It was a bigger partyor whatever. But I really I had
a lot of fun. You know, I was doing three to six and
it really didn't get people didn't reallystart showing up to like four four thirty,

(08:20):
and then I had to run toan urban bear boat ride and go
from Brooklyn to Manhattan. And thenright when the boat ride ended at midnight,
we skidaddled and got our ascid asfast as we could to Brooklyn,
and we got there right when Madonnawas like kind of doing her thing.
And I totally can't believe that Ieven see you there. We were at

(08:41):
the same party. We were there, We were, I was with your
friends, all of your people. But magically, my friend, my friend
Phil shout out to Phil Chanel,he's one of the like the host slash
promoters of the party. So wekind of got in and and got into
VIP and it wasn't anything better thanany other area. But uh, I

(09:03):
think we attacked like someone else's bottlesurface or something for ourselves to drink because
we're because we were in such arush, and we ended up catching her
like anything that she said and allthat kind of stuff. And like right
right after the voguing contest, forthose who don't know, there was a
vogue Ball with Bob the Drag Queenand I think Arca was there, and
who was the other person? ArcamI'm gonna call her Toshiba from now on

(09:26):
because my phone, my phone autocorrects it to Toshiba. Soba was there,
was there, was there, andthen there's like Red Desma. I
don't know what her name is,but Madonna was one of the guest judges
for the Voging Ball and she lookedabsolutely stunning, like like it was she

(09:50):
was like an angel. And thenI don't know if you know since,
but I thought, you know, there are all the pictures online and all
that, and I'm convinced because shehad a New York Yankees necklace on.
I'm convinced when you look at heroutfit. If you look at pictures on
her on her Instagram, and shewas dressed as a couture baseball because she
had like stitching on her outfit andstuff. Everybody everybody said Dolly, and

(10:13):
I could see that. I couldsee how they would get Dolly from her.
I would I heard a lot ofpeople say that too, and I
was like, that was the lastthing I thought about. I did.
I could see. I mean, just just a little bit, because you
know, Dolly wears a lot ofthose like fitted suits, you know,
for for events and whatnot. Yeah, she looks like Dolly. I'm like,

(10:37):
exactly. Once somebody said it,I got the reference, but I
didn't think of when I was there. But I also thought somebody mentioned that
it looked like she she kind ofresembled. Remember when right before the m
D and A tour and she didthat, she did that event where she
was finding her in one of herdancers. It was like and that's when
little Buck got selected. I don'tremember that. It was like an event

(11:01):
in twenty twelve, and she kindof looked similar. I think one of
the DJs who one of the thedj was one of the people who produced
one of the songs in m DNA. I can't think of his name right
now, but she kind of lookedlike that, like she had that kind
of like cougar ish, kind oflike super glam. Oh Kevin glam cougar,

(11:24):
glam cougar. Yeah, I lovethat shadow. Her hair was all
all blonded up, like no moreroots, she's she looked like an angel
to me. I know when Igot there on Saturday, what time did
you get there? I got therea little after ten maybeh pushing ten thirty.

(11:46):
And keep in mind, like Istill, I always have like doubts.
I'm like, this isn't gonna happen. She ain't showing up like you
know, she posted beut, she'sshe's not going to be here. Why
is she going to be here? But I do with everything. I'm like,
yeah, she's she's just you know, it's just it's this is fake.
This is not going to happen. So I I dragged my ass getting

(12:09):
out of my house. And that'swhy I did not go to three dollars
bill earlier to see you that day, because I couldn't move. I eventually
you know, picked my picked myselfup and you know, dragged my my,
my big old thighs out of thehouse and I drove down to Brooklyn.
I parked, and where I parked, I knew there wasn't going to

(12:31):
be parking over there, so Iubered over and I'm like, okay.
I parked in like Bushwick, honestlynot very far away, but I was
like, I don't feel like walkinto the subway. It's like raining,
and so I took I took acar over and I got there and like,

(12:52):
like you said, there was allthese food trucks. I'm walking around
like they make you walk all theway around the block. And I was
like, okay. I took aglance at the drink menu. I don't
know if you noticed this, butthey did have MS Margarita on the menu.
Oh I didn't see that. Yeah, it was called M's Margarita and

(13:13):
it was it was like thirty fivedollars and the water was water in a
can was eight bucks or seven bucks. And I was like, oh great,
And there was a lot of likewhen I got there, Toshiba was
still performing. I swear, peopleare I'm gonna get hate mail for that,

(13:35):
you know, I love it.People are gonna tweet me, They're
going to get me on Instagram, like, how dare you call her Toshiba
whatever it is, it's your phone'sfault. Yeah, she's Toshiba to me.
She was on and she was doingI don't I'll be honest. I
don't know any any of her songs. I know, I know if I
hear it, I know'evoy. Yeah, she has a very distinctive voice.

(13:58):
Yeah, I have no idea whatshe was performing. I do know she
she did say are you all gettingsome pussy tonight? And I was just
like, no, not Stevie andthen and it was interesting because it was,
you know, but primarily a youngercrowd there. Yeah, and after

(14:18):
she got off, I think ARCAcame on, right, I DJing And
I don't know. I might bewrong. I maybe it wasn't Arca.
We had music as well, right, do they have music? Okay,
Yeah, I think they were.I think they were singing. I believe

(14:39):
they were singing. Maybe they weredjaying and singing at the same time.
I'll be honest. I wasn't payingtoo much attention. Yeah, I've heard
I know of ARCA, but Idon't. I didn't know what they did,
Like, I don't know whether they'rean artist or a DJ or something.
So, I mean I did takea swing around by the food trucks
and I did see that they hada rice ball food truck and I was
like, oh, but I didnot eat any rice balls. I was.

(15:05):
And I don't know what time whenyou got there, but I know
most a lot of people. Ithink maybe after the sets they ran to
the bathroom where they were in toget food. So we were able to
move up pretty pretty close. Yeah, I told some of your photos,
you're pretty close. I mean Iwas pretty impressed with my photos too,

(15:28):
because it was like, oh,you could see like beautiful. I was
like, wow, it was supercute. Esther production value was amazing,
Like the lighting was so good, and like there was a mistiness because of
the rain, so it added tolike there was like almost like a fog
coming through. I don't know ifthey had a fog machine or whatever,
but it just added to the tothe experience. I mean I think I

(15:48):
got there like twelve forty so okay, so you got there probably right right
right when it started. I mean, maybe did you miss Esther because esther
DJ'd I did miss esther, Yeah, her daughter her DJ for everyone who
doesn't know. I honestly thought thatwhen she DJed on the Celebration tour that
it was like faking it, likeshe was just pushing those buttons, but

(16:10):
she was actually dj I don't thinkso. I don't think, and maybe
not on the tour, because that'sthat's that's there's a lot that like when
you're doing that live, I feellike there's a lot that can kind of
go wrong. I think that.Yeah, maybe when she would press the
button like up down, up,up down, I don't know if that
was real. Maybe it just shewas just pretending. We brought a pressure
for an eleven year old. Butit was super cute. She looked,

(16:34):
she looked amazing with her adult chainCabana sunglasses. It was it was,
it was, it was fun.It was Do you think it was like
you think it was like a prerecorded sturdy right for the Celebration tour.
I think that what she did atLady Land, I think that was live.
Yeah. I think that maybe maybethis is like her first her first

(16:56):
little uh, first little gig,her first my god mine was at a
little dive bar in the East Village. She dj a huge at eleven years
old, like my Lord and Idon't know if they didn't do it so

(17:17):
much during Madonna, like when Madonnawas on for the for the for the
Vogue competition. But I did noticethey had drones flying around, probably recording,
recording the stage, and that's howthey got a lot of really good
shots. Oh wow. Yeah, because I saw I was like, what
is that. I was like,oh, it's a drone. They must
be recording, you know, toget different angles, because it was I

(17:41):
mean, that really wasn't set upto be, you know, professionally recorded
from multiple angles. Yeah, youknow, there's just too many people,
and it's obviously it's underneath you know, a highway, you know, a
bridge on you know, that's that'spart of the highway. So but I
will say she looked amazing. Ohmy god, she's so good. She

(18:04):
was and she I loved what shesaid you're talking about, you know,
being in New York and just youknow, I loved what she said.
She said, aside from my birthdayis the most the best, The biggest
holiday of the year is Pride. That was really cute. Yeah, and
you know, she she definitely shoutedout, She's like, you know,

(18:26):
without you guys, I am nothingand I love that. I love that
because I feel like a lot ofpeople kind of give her flack. They're
like, oh, she doesn't youknow, remember the little people. Like
I've heard people say that. I'mlike, what are you talking about?
Like she cites her sources, youknow. Yeah. And also I think
too, I think I think, you know, she went through a whole

(18:48):
like you know, ups and downshere and there, and like I think,
you know, since American life,I feel like she's kind of like
I'm down to earth a bit whereshe like wants to meet the fans,
you know, and all that kindof stuff. I think she went through
a period in the beginning of hercareer where she was like probably like a
little terrified of some of the fans, you know, like a little freaked

(19:08):
out by the fame, and shekind of, you know, created a
wall around her where she didn't wantto like do any kind of meeting greets
or meeting greets and stuff like that. But especially like the Secret Project Revolution
thing, like she was hanging outwith the fans like she's she's you know,
all these little release parties for theselittle things. She's she's putting herself

(19:29):
back in like the club scene, which didn't happen for a little while.
You know, m well, Ithink maybe maybe that's a lot to do
with you know, sidebar. Youknow, there were a couple stalkers here
and there, so yeah, yeah, exactly. And then I remember she
used to mention that someone used tolike always have like her newest costume on
in the audience. She'd look outat the audience and see that person and

(19:49):
just like, how the hell didthey create the outfit that looks just like
mine? So fast? That wasThat was Medieva. That was Medieva,
right, yeah, Medieva. AndI remember she said some people got a
lot of bulls to dress the waythat they do. I was like,
yeah, good job. Medieva's asweetheart. Actually I haven't seen her in
a while, but she's cool. She's cool people. But yeah, like

(20:14):
I was just I was so excitedbecause I was you know, I had
a long day on Sunday, butI was like, hell with it.
I'm going I'm not going to missit because in the past, whenever Madonna's
in New York for Pride, I'meither working or doing something where I can't
be at the event that she's at. Like I missed World Pride because I
was working and I had the luxuryof working at Stonewall. Then she appeared

(20:37):
on New Year's Eve. I was, you know, I was her DJ
basically, So I'm not I'm notcomplaining, but it's so freaky to know
that your idol Madonna is performing afew blocks away from where you're working,
you know, and you can't bethere because you have an obligation. So
I was. I used to getvery like Braddy about it. So I

(21:02):
was like, you know what,I can make it. You know,
I'll go and if you know,if I catch just a glimpse of her,
that's fine. But I was,you know, I was like,
the hell with it. You onlylive once. And uh, I'm like,
you know, I've had I've hadso much Madonna time this ye this
year and last year that like it'sI'm still like addicted and need my fix,

(21:23):
you know, I mean, Andand it just seems like that there's
so much more to come this yearbecause you know, she wrapped up the
Celebration tour, you know, withwith Rio, I mean, huge,
ridiculous Rio. And we haven't evenbeen able to talk about that because because
because we haven't had we'll circle backto Rio. But she, I mean,

(21:51):
as it seems like how I kindof predicted and I kind of said
it all along and everybody's like,no, it's not going to happen.
It's not going to happen. Ithink the movie's been you know, back
on on track. Yeah, whichI think that's gonna be great. I'm
sure it's gonna be a couple ofyears before it gets released. Yeah,

(22:12):
But I think also I think alsothey probably, like we said before that
I think they used the script thatthey wrote to create the celebration tour.
So she relived her her life storywhat eighty something times in the past year
and a half. So she's she'sfired up about it, I'm sure,
and she's really like back in touchwith her roots and back in touch with

(22:36):
that energy. So I think Iactually think that if the celebration tour didn't
happen, I don't think the movie. I think the movie is gonna be
better now. I mean, II hope that, I hope that.
I hope it just like blows everythingout of the water. I really do,
especially since it's coming from her, like it's her story. She's doing

(22:57):
it because like I didn't. Didyou watch any of the other like musical
biopicks at all? I mean Isaw the the Freddie Mercury one. Okay,
I have not seen it. Iwanted to see it when it came
out, and I never did.I never went to the theater. I
never, you know, just neverwatched it. I watched on a plane,

(23:19):
right, I think, forgetting whereit was going. But I believe
didn't they leave out the part wherelike he was kind of you know,
hanging out with other men, youknow, the no there was there there
was something in it with that,I believe. Okay, all right,
I watched half of the Amy Winehousebio pick, and a lot of people

(23:41):
hated it. I didn't hate it. I didn't love it, just I
only watched half. Yeah, soI really can't like give an honest opinion
on it, and I didn't.I don't care about John, so I
didn't watch Dylton John one. SoSelena was great in nineteen ninety seven when
it came out. Was it nineninety seven? Well? I think so.

(24:03):
I have it on DVD. Ihaven't watched it in years, but
I think I think it was likeninety seven, maybe ninety eight when when
when they did Selena, I didn't. I didn't I liked I think I
liked the Johnny Cash one. Thatwas pretty good. I didn't see that,
and I didn't watch the Elvis oneeither. I've never I've never been
in Elvis fan me neither. Ilike, I get it because he was,

(24:27):
you know, extremely handsome and allthat, but I never I've never
been like like, I never gotthe like the like the the pomp and
circumstance of it all, you know. I mean, I actually, the
costumes are great and like the vegacykind of thing. That was fun,
but like, I don't really knowa lot of mag a lot of Elvis
songs, and like I I wasn'tsold by it. I wasn't like sold

(24:52):
by him or like, wow,he's amazing. I mean, I know
Madonna loves him and all that, but without Elvis, you are nothing that's
right, that is right, AndI wonder I think I don't know how
long the Elvis movie was. Ithink it was pretty long, though,
I'm questioning because I know there wasrumors that the movie is only going up

(25:14):
to Blonde Ambition. Really yeah,I mean, maybe maybe it's just a
rumor. I mean I think itwould definitely go up to her having children.
I mean well, I would thinkat least at the bare minimum to
Ray of Light or a maybe. You know, Avida is a pretty high

(25:37):
you know that that's a very highpoint I feel for her, like that's
something she's really proud of. Yeah, I would think it would go towards
like at least like Melay, right, Yeah, definitely like adopting the kids,
which is much later than Avida. But I mean, actually so crazy,
Like I feel like it has tobe like a it does to be

(26:00):
a sequel almost. How could sheNetflix series? You know, how could
she sit seasons? How could youfit forty years of being in the spot
like constantly in a two and ahalf hour movie, Like, I don't
I don't understand that unless it's She'sgonna be like a music video and like
just whirlwind of like you know, like not time lapse, but like you

(26:22):
know, like just bringing it up, going through a whole bunch of things
that happened to her and then likegetting to another point like a you know,
almost like a roller coaster, thenstopping, having a little moment and
room a room back. You know, there's just too much that she's done.
There's there's like she doesn't take breaks, she don't know, she doesn't

(26:42):
there there's a lot of like alot of stuff to to cover. I
mean, especially in the early years. I mean we everybody knows the later
years, but the early years.I think that's where a lot of people
don't know, you know, theyou know, the uprising of Madonna,
you know, and her East Villagedays and you know, hanging out.

(27:03):
Yeah, I like that's that wouldbe more exciting to like find out about
Did you ever see what was that? What was the documentary that that we
don't did? Uh? I meanin the Breakfast Club? Was Madonna and
the Breakfast Club? Yes, yeah, that was extraordinary and it was really
well done and had a lot ofphotographs that we've never seen before. But

(27:23):
like that was a whole movie, and it only went up to like what
was she Blue? Well? TheyI think if I only watched it once,
so forgive me, because it waslike they they did Madonna's early years,
okay, and then I think theykind of jumped because it was like,

(27:47):
Okay, Madonna hit big and sheyou know, she became this massive
star and we didn't see her againuntil they were recording a music video I
think probably in like eighty six forthe first Breakfast Club album. Ah,
that's right, because that that's whenthat album came out. Actually, I
have it someplace. I have iton my shelf someplace. And then it

(28:10):
was like Madonna showed up, youknow, at that surprise them at the
music video shoot, and it wasyou know, the true Blue era.
That was Dan Gilroy's album, right, Dan gil Rivers. Yeah, and
that actress what's hurt. I don'teven know her name, but I think
she passed away, yes, unfortunately. Yeah, but if any of you

(28:30):
haven't seen Madonna and the Breakfast Clubgig, Guido did an extraordinary job capturing
like the early years and stuff likethat, and like back when she you
know, lived at the synagogue, she'd rehearse and you know, when she's
learned how to play drums back inthe day. It was really really well
done, and it's interestpersed with alot of photographs and actual like taped recordings,

(28:52):
like messages that I don't know howwe acquired them, but it's it's
actually it's her talking, you know, and it's like her talking to her
bandmate and stuff like that, andthe boyfriend's back then. So it's got
some really exclusive things in it.I think it's on Netflix. It should
be. Yeah, I forget toasks his name, but yeah, she
passed away shortly after the movie cameout. I mean, and she looked
on canny. Yeah, it soundlike her, like when she spoke,

(29:18):
but uncanny. How they know youthink story about how he found her?
I feel like I read it,but I don't recall. Really interesting because
you know, we all know thatMadonna worked a Dunkle Donuts, you know,
famously. I remember that, Yes, there's a place called Donut Plant.
I don't know if it's still therein Chelsea on twenty third Street.

(29:41):
And he walked in there and hewas like struck by how much she looked
like Madonna, and he was onthe hunt for an actress to play her.
And she wasn't even really an actor, I don't believe. And he
handed her a card and he's like, please call me because you'd be perfect
for this role. And so it'sreally interesting that she worked at a donut
shop. It's so cool. Andthen she got fired for playing with a

(30:02):
jelly squirter exactly jelly squatter. Ohgosh, this is an episode where where
casual fans are gonna be like huh, but all the dis would be like
the diehards are going to know exactlywhat we're talking about, and they're going
to laugh along with us. Youcouldn't say if you know, you know,

(30:25):
I why kay? Why kay?Is that what that means? Yes?
I never knew that. I hadto ask somebody what something meant the
other day and I was like,oh, that should have been easy to
figure out, but it was likeone another one of those lettered things.

(30:47):
And I don't remember what it was, but I was like, what does
that mean? And they're like,oh, it means that. I'm like,
okay, I'm old. We needwe need a gen z to like
just be like, hey, hey, what's that mean? Why can't you
go out bone a friend? Butyou know what I was, I was

(31:10):
wondering, you know, everybody everybodytalks about, you know, like one
of the biggest, you know, like the gayest songs. Madonna's done his
Vogue and all that, but andobviously that definitely translates as a super gay
song. It was the first timewe saw her with gay people on in
the music video, and obviously vogingcomes from the ballroom scene. But like

(31:32):
what other songs are are are giveyou like the idea of pride. When
when it comes to Madonna's song oheasily Deeper and Deeper, well that's a
definitely up there. I had afriend who when Expressed Yourself came out,
he said that that was like hisanthem because it really like, you know,
he was talking about come on girls, she said, come on girls.

(31:52):
But but but he thought of itas like kind of like a you
know, express yourself, like youknow, be who you are and all.
So whenever I hear especially myself,I think of my friend Pearl uh.
And obviously like the whole Erotic albumhas a lot of it was like
my coming out album, so mostof those songs. So that's why,
Yeah, Deeper and Deeper is definitelyup there. And I was kind of

(32:15):
thinking, like there's only a littlebit of Deeper and Deeper that was on
the tour, just like that intro. I'm going to be there. I'm
going to be there. Should weplay Deeper and Deeper for everybody? Yes?
Please, We're going to play alittle One of the special mixes from
the from the Maxie single back innineteen ninety two I Miss MAXI singles me

(32:36):
too. These singles are probably wouldturn me into a DJ because I would
listen to like the justifim I LoveMAXI single and the Rescue Me MAXI single
I Think I over and over andover again, like I knew every beat
from all the different mixes of justfrom My Love and I Love I Mean.
Rescue Me is definitely one of myfavorite, if not my favorite Madonna

(32:59):
song. So I listened to thatMexican grazillion times. But the deeper,
deeper one was really good too, because she had that pop with a cigar
in her mouth and the tooth. That's always been a striking image for me.
But let's give them a little,uh, a little deeper and deeper
in. If you have a banana, take it out, peel it and
eat it while you listen deeper, deep, sweet sweet, when you know

(33:51):
to say, that's what's the mama, you mando your window, and then
the father mo dandy, then youstick the past to taste body, the

(34:27):
baby in the bird, step upthe pic and the people that go honest
parents. And she said, thinkwith your heart, up with your ma,
It's what the mama be a lilthings you do, end the film

(34:52):
effect you use and let the father, Daddy, the mymap get you the

(35:13):
class. I can't help following hima fucking speak further along and he set
down and the love bac sets morethat I know. I can't help falling
in love about give me step downHell and the mother bake and sweet mother,

(35:44):
and someone said them for romantic AndI'm beg of the meal. Bring
one night, Mama told woman andmy father mod then you had a holding.
Don't defind me what their stay thespirit. I'm gonna splorry, but

(36:13):
my love that never again. Steepsteep, steep, steep steep, Seep's

(36:37):
true, e G S True's true. E G S True's true, e
G S True's true, e GS True's true, e G S True's
true, e G S True's true, g S True's true. To Daddy,

(37:07):
to be somebody get you the lastthey can see the deep deep deep,

(37:45):
Dame, we have three three three. I can't keep going from all.
Allo, you know, I can'tkeep all from all. I'm just,

(38:50):
I'm just, I'm I'm just,I'm just, I'm just. I'm
just. I'm also alb and albalb alb and I now that now that

(40:04):
we've both had bananas and our potassiumis now elevated, Yes, we're good
to go. We're good for theday. No aches and pains, exactly.
You will not wake up tonight witha Charlie Horse. Charlie Horse,
My god. But I actually liketo kind of you know what I love

(40:29):
about that video? It was sodifferent than erotica, but it really it
kind of introduced me to I didn'treally know much about Andy Warhall until that
video, and I don't know,it's very subtle, like nod. I
would say, in my opinion,it's a little bit of a subtle nod

(40:50):
to Andy. Do you think it'ssubtle? I think it's a little subtle.
Once I watched a couple of AndyWarhol films after that, I was
like, I thought it was prettywell, I guess maybe and all,
oh, sorry, I'm sorry.I was gonna say, unless you really
know Andy's work, or you deepdive, because I feel like a lot
of people are just like, oh, yeah, Marilyn Monroe, you know

(41:12):
that the iconic you know, MarilynMonroe Prince or like the Campbell soup can.
Yeah. Also because the guy theguy with the long hair was kind
of like Joey Joey's Steph Joey Stefano. Yes, one of Andy's muses,
one of my one of the mosthands one of the most beautiful men I
think that's ever lived and been oncamera, But that one guy in the
video kind of looked like him.And uh, I want you know,

(41:35):
I always wonder about deeper and deeper, the whole idol thing, like with
the balloons and all that. Ialways wonder what what that came from.
Do you have any insights to that? I'm not sure, Like I know
she's you know, she's talking aboutlike, you know, don't you know
it's not good to worship your idolsand stuff like that, And I guess
that's kind of like the reference tolike, I can't help falling in love

(41:55):
with all deeper and deeper because sometime, you know, she doesn't whenever
she makes a music video, it'snot always a literal translation of the song.
She takes it in a different direction. But I wonder what the idol,
like, the whole idol worship aspectof it, if that's a reference
to something as well. They willfind out someday. One Udok Udo cures

(42:21):
in it, right, he's theone from My Private Idaho one that's seduced
Mirror Phoenix. Yeah, Debbie Maysare. Yes, there's also a couple.
Isn't there like a like a AndyWarhol person in there as well,
like another Andy Warhol person, likethe one of the drag queens in the

(42:42):
video or something. I don't know, I know there's something that's like,
you know, I'm kind of curiousnow because there is a list somewhere of
all the all the guest stars inthat music video, and a lot of
them are like really interesting characters, and I'm surprised that they, like,
I mean, obviously Madonna was Madonna, so they wouldn't say no. But
I think one of the characters isalso one of the people in the music
video is also one of the girlsthat's in that Remember the Sex Book had

(43:07):
that comic book. Mm hmm.I think some of the people that are
in that comic book are in themusic video as well. Okay, and
one of them was somebody sort offamous in the in the Warhol era.
I'll have to look it up andget back to that, but yeah,
I was, I was kind ofI was kind of bummed that Deeper and
Deeper just had that little beginning part. But it was also kind of cool

(43:28):
to like how they picked out thatlittle section I'm going to be there,
I'm gonna be there, like she'sshe's coming like that was that was really
like nifty. As as as thekids say or the kids don't say that,
I say that? What they whatdo they say nowadays? What would
they say if it was like somethinglike kind of like cool if anybody knows,

(43:50):
let us know what the kids? What did the kids say when something's
cheeky or you know whatever? Uh, I don't feel like there is a
word. There must be a word. There's a word for it. Oh
gosh, I I I know we'vewe've I think we've discussed this. Maybe

(44:14):
I don't know. I wish thatthere was more of Deeper and Deeper in
the tour. Yeah, there definitelydefinitely should have been. I mean,
obviously there's they couldn't fit. Youcouldn't put all the songs that we wanted
in that in that show. Butand you know, we we've talked about
what what we wish was in it, which we wish wasn't in it,
or whatever. But yeah, Ithink I like to have. It was
like deeper and deeper in that littlenod and then the little Lucky Star intro

(44:36):
kind of came out and then alittle bit of Material Girl, like,
I'm glad you didn't perform Material Girl. I would have. I would have
not I would have I would havebeen annoyed. Yeah, I mean I
could. I could do without it. I've seen it performed live before,
so yeah, I mean, it'sit's always it's always going to be,

(44:57):
you know, because the song thesong material Girl as a parody, you
know, it's supposed to be ironic. Yeah, you know, so she
always does something like tongue in cheekwith it. Yeah, you know,
I don't. I don't think itwould have fit. My favorite performance of
Material Gir will always be the ambitionperformance and money, lots of money throwing

(45:27):
Madonna money everywhere. That's what shesaid. Experience has made me a bitch.
That's right. Yes, it's reallyimportant that we get to the church
on time. I love that part, all that Blanche and Gladys Gladys.
Yeah, but what what was Ohthey had like the outfits had their name

(45:51):
like the monikers on them. Yeah, from the yeah on the on the
robes wearing, you know, inthe in the hairdresser that to you.
Yeah, super cute, super supercute. I always wanted a rope with
my initial on it. Big there. Yeah, maybe maybe I'll get one,

(46:13):
maybe for for Christmas. Maybe we'llsee what Santa brings. You never
know, I might have to siton his lap. Yeah exactly. You
know that's another thing, like, you know, we might just have to
call the the Santa who is theguest on the on the Celebration tour in
December. He's in Washington, dC. Yeah, so we'll have to
go find him. I mean, that man, he was kind of like

(46:34):
the like picture perfect Santa Claus. He really was. Yeah, he really
was. I mean like like maybehe really was. He probably was.
I mean I didn't I just didn'tknow Santa lived in DC. I lived
in the North Pole. But thepresident, they're all the same. I
mean, Jerry Well could have beenJoe Biden and that that that Santa Alpha

(46:55):
exactly. He might not have beenso jovial for a week. He would
have been like celebration tour what Kamalais like, Joe just go just go
and do it. We did it. Joe just we did it. Go

(47:16):
we celebrated Christmas a Madonna. That'sright, we did it. We made
it to Madonna's tour. We didit. Joe. I had a really
funny time. Was when I wasin Houston when Peppermint jumped on stage.
I was like, I think thatlooks like Peppermint. And I know Peppermint
for years, and I was like, I texted her. I'm like,
I didn't realize that was you untilafterward. She was cracking up. I

(47:37):
love that. I love Peppermint. She's she's so like beautiful inside and out
totally yeah. Yeah, like II only I've only been in her presence
once, very very very briefly. And she walked by me and she smiled
and I said, oh, hi, and she said hi, And she's

(47:57):
gorgeous, like just beautiful. Yeah, really really really wonderful person too.
We I call her, uh,we call each other friends with benefits because
we only see each other at fundraisers. So it's like me and Candy Samples
my my my longtime friend. Uh. Candy and I are like always putting
on some sort of benefit and that'swhen we always bumped into each other or

(48:20):
we'd like show up at each other'sfundraiser, so we're friends with benefits as
well. We do the AIDS Walkevery year together. You should do it
with us next year. Next year, you know what, maybe I will.
Yeah, it's a really fun day. I believe it is. I
believe it, and it's for agood cause. Yeah. And I often
think of it as kind of likea I call it like a pilgrimage,
Like I like, I don't necessarilyraise a gazillion dollars, but I just

(48:43):
do it as like kind of likea I guess it's pilgrimage, right word,
or like it's it's not it's notfun because it's you're tired. It's
not like I mean, it's it'sa long walk. So like I do
it as kind of like a whatit will be the word for that?
I can never I don't know whyI meant A lost her words today,
but uh, you're But I doit as like a like an homage to

(49:05):
the people who suffered, or likeI do it as like a you know,
I'm a tribute sort of. Yeah. I mean I I don't raise
too much money, well I almost. I almost raised one thousand dollars this
year. Any little bit counts whenit comes to charity, you know,
like when charity, you know, sure you want to get the most that

(49:28):
you can, you know, forfor a cause. But but there's so
many things that people are donating theirmoney too. You can't expect them to
donate to everything. But I didenjoy the Ali Furna Center did a dance
aton last year at the Knockdown Centerand in a in a in a Flushing,
Queens that was really fun. Ihope to do I hope they're going

(49:50):
to do it again because that Madonnaused to do the AIDS Dansaton back in
the day, and uh, weshould do that. Actually it was at
the Javit Center in New York City. I think I went to the nineteen
one and nineteen ninety three one andI found, like, I don't know
where it is now, but Ifound like my sheet with the people's like
the sponsors on it, like myrelatives and stuff like that that donated like

(50:10):
ten dollars, twenty dollars. AndI'm like, it's so crazy because this
was nineteen ninety two and like halfof the people on the sheet aren't even
alive anymore. It was really freakyto read it. Wow. But we
used to go hoping up you knowMadonna. I mean that's not the only
reason, but we would go andlike maybe Mdona's gonna make appearance this year,
you know, Well she used to. I mean she still does.

(50:30):
But she did do the one inLA. I think I think there was
one in La that. Yeah, she always had her her hands in with
am fhar Yes it was her andLiz Taylor. Yes, definitely, they
definitely. They did a lot offundraising and they raised a lot of awareness

(50:52):
and when people don't I think wetalked about this in a previous episode,
like people don't know that she usedto go in and like hug people at
Saint Vincent's Hospital, which isn't evendoesn't even just anymore, but people were
afraid to touch people or be inthe same room as people with HIV,
and she would go in and likefeed them and bring them make they're like
I give them hugs, and likethey would they would think she was like

(51:14):
in either their mother one of themwas dying and like he thought it was
his mother, and it's like really, I think she mentioned that in one
of the shows. I think shetalked about it actually one of Yeah,
she she did. There was acouple of during the uologues, getting that
monologue, but where she would shewould stop and talk. There's there's a

(51:34):
couple a couple of dates where shereally a lot of them. Yeah,
she should like right right after likeexpress herself, I want to say,
or maybe right after, don't tellme where she she stopped and she talked
to the crowd, and she gother most emotional That's what she would give
the most emotional speeches because she talkedabout her nurse once. She talked about

(51:58):
you know, her big and thatshe was going to survive. Mm hmm.
And I know one of the showsshe talked about there were two nurses
that wrote a book. Yes,we were both at that show. We
were at that show. Yeah,is that Miami? Maybe that might have
been one of the New York shows. How many shows did we see together?

(52:20):
We saw two or three weeks six, I don't remember. They all
mushed together like some people were like, oh yeah, I remember that,
Like yeah, yeah, I rememberthat. We were both in Miami,
and then we were both in acouple of New York shows. Almost yeah,
so you well then again you alsowent to you went to Texas,

(52:45):
you went to Austin, and youwent to Philly. Ho I went to
I didn't go to Philly. Iwent to Austin, I went to Houston,
and I went to Denver, andthen I went to Miami. The
restaurant of the New York shows. All right, well, how many New
York shows did you see? Five? Okay, so we saw six shows
together. That's cool. That's cool. That was a lot. Sometimes like

(53:14):
like to think about it, I'mlike, yeah, that was that happened.
Yeah, that that happened. Andthen it almost feels like a dream
sometimes too. And then we getto the mother Load and we find out
that she's doing Rio de Janeiro, the biggest concert of all time whatever.

(53:35):
And you know what I found reallycool about Lady fag is the person who
produces at the festival, Ladyland, and she just posted something or she was
interviewed by some magazine and she said, you know, Madonna just did the
biggest show ever in Rio, andthen she comes and plays at my little
queer festival in Brooklyn. She's like, that's why she's the Queen Madonna forever.

(53:58):
So I thought that was really sweetto have a New York nightlife like
impress Sario speak so highly of Madonna. That was really cool. Yeah,
you know, she's not promoting anythingright now. That's what I love about
and I like she doesn't always showup when there are certain pop stars who
will make a statement or show upat a Pride trade because they have an

(54:19):
album coming out. You know,I'm not going to name anybody. I'm
not going to name anybody, butname them. Name them. I did
you know who I'm talking about?Well, you know, So so back
to circling back really quick to Ladyland. Before this was even thought, you

(54:42):
know, even thought of that Madonnaannounced, you know, you know,
my baby's got a secret. Iwas looking at Ladyland and I was like,
oh, because Kim Petras was supposedto be there, I think Friday
Night headlining maybe, and I waslike, oh, that would be cute.
You know, I like him,you know. And I saw Countess
Luanne was there. I was like, God, I do love Countess Luanne.

(55:06):
And by class that's right, Imean quality quality, you know,
production quality. Just I love CountessLuann, I really exactly. She performed
at a party on Fire Island likefourteen years ago. I was helping with
the production aspect of it, andshe there was a pool party and she

(55:30):
like performed on the balcony near thepool and like had a gun with like
fake money that shut out of it, and like she like showered it all
over the pool, like the poolwas filled with fake money. So funny.
I love that. That's that's everylike perfection. I love that.

(55:51):
So I was like, oh,maybe maybe I'll get a ticket to this,
Like I that would be fun,you know, to do Saturday night.
And then I had I had atheir plans. I was like,
ah, whatever, you know,I don't need to go, and the
Madonna announces, well, you know, secretly announces this and we all right,
let's take a gamble. And Ican'tcel any plans that I had anyway

(56:12):
to go. So I think theydid the first year that it's been under
the bridge though, right maybe Ithink it was was it at the Mirage
last year or something, That's whatI heard. I don't know where the
Mirage is either though, so Idon't know if that's right. But I
think this is the first time it'sbeen under the bridge. I mean,
I don't I mean, it wasa pretty cool spot to do it.

(56:37):
I mean even I amazed, likewhat kind of permits she had to get
to get this whole area? Itwas massive, massive. Imagine the cleanup.
Yeah, it must have been crazy, Like there must have been so
much staff that was just hired tocome in at like four o'clock in the
morning or two whatever to whatever timeit was over at. Well, what

(56:57):
time did you leave Saturday night?I left it two. I think around
the same time as well, allright, because there was still somebody was
doing a DJ SAT and there wasstill a ton of people there, so
they had to have gone until atleast three three thirty. Yeah, because
I did. I had to beup early the next day, and my
friend Phil was tired. He droveme home, which I wasn't that far

(57:20):
from there. I didn't realize howclose I lived to that spot in Brooklyn.
But what's funny is I took acar to three dollars Bill earlier that
day because I was like, Ihad other stuff to carry, and I
was like, I'm not going tobe like a sweaty mess and running around
in Brooklyn. And we drove pastthat spot in the morning like at like

(57:42):
two o'clock, and then I endedup leaving that same area at two o'clock
twelve hours later. I meanwhile,dj to gig, went to a bear
party and watched Madonna in those twelvehours. So it was pretty Saturday was
pretty exciting. I was exhausted Sundaymorning when I woke up because I was

(58:04):
like, oh, I'm gonna good, you know, go back out and
party because it's Pride. So Ican only imagine how exhausted you were.
It was even on Pride, youhad a lot. Yeah, it's so
weird going on. I should havebeen a lot more to I don't.
I wasn't that tired. I don'tunderstand. I wasn't like I think.
I think just like a lot ofthe I was telling somebody, like somebody

(58:25):
was like, I don't know howyou do it. I'm like, well,
a lot of my events are likespreading joy and like fun and dancing
and people meeting people, and likeif I was working in an office all
those hours, I might be exhausted, but like most of my jobs have
to do with like celebrating and hispride, and also Madonna always, you
know, gives me a burst ofenergy. So I was on cloud Saturday

(58:47):
night, got home, went tosleep, and woke up earlier than I
needed to and got to where Ihad to go uh brass Monkey for Urban
Bear, and then and I hadto get over to Stonewall and I closed
Stonewall. So that that's pretty interesting. Yeah, No, I mean it's
you know, it's I don't know, I just I might complain about certain

(59:13):
things, but I definitely overall lovewhat I do, and like, like
I said, this month has beensuch a there's been so many wonderful things
that have happened that it's been energizing. And also we have a lot of
shit to fight about and I'm likegetting reved up about that too, so
there's no time to like really rest. No, there's there's a lot,
a lot of a lot. Yeah, there's a lot going on me,

(59:37):
And you know, it just feelslike every other day we get like another
inch of bad news and it's justlike it's just snowballing and it's getting a
little scary. But I'm noticing likea lot of people are, you know,
I don't know, I want toget too political on this podcast,
but like a lot of people arestarting to talk about Project twenty twenty five,
which is one of the scariest thingsI've ever heard of, and a

(01:00:00):
lot of like celebrities are actually startingto speak up about it, luckily,
and hopefully that will make a difference, because I feel like a lot of
celebrities part of twenty twenty five islike the super right wing conservative Christian nation
like handbook kind of thing that thatwill like get rid of, like the
FBI, get rid of the Departmentof Education, allow like whoever the next

(01:00:25):
Republican president is to like arrest hisopponents if he feels like it. Like
it's very dictator scary, like likehorror movie like Blockbuster futuristic armageddonis kind of
stuff, hand Maid's Tale shit andall that. So it's frightening. And

(01:00:46):
there's a there's an action this thisSaturday at one o'clock in Columbus Circle that
I joined for. I've joined likethe group it's called you want to follow
Stop the Coup twenty twenty five onInstagram and it's a shame plug, but
uh, it's Stop t h Couptwenty twenty five. It's like a small

(01:01:06):
group of all these activists that Ilook up to in New York that are
kind of joining forces from all differentareas and trying to make this, uh,
educate people on it and all thatkind of stuff, because no,
no presidential candidate is perfect, especiallywith all the stuff that's going on over
you know, the Middle East andin Israel and all that kind of stuff.

(01:01:27):
But uh, the person who hasalready been in the White House,
if he gets anywhere near the WhiteHouse, we're doomed. So we need
to read the word. So it'sit's it's a it's like I'm still like,
I'm just I can't believe that we'reeven anywhere near this position in life,
but we are, and I knowMadonna would want us to stand up

(01:01:49):
for our rights and all that,So it's not it's not out of line
with Madonna Worship podcast. I guesscorrect. Yeah, So I mean people
listening, get out there and vote. Yeah, get out there and vote.
Educate yourself, you know, talkto people, find out, you
know, try to like you know, sway people and convince people that you
know, when you're voting for apresident, you're not only voting for the

(01:02:13):
president, You're voting for their entirecabinet. You're voting for their entire administration.
And Biden hasn't has done a lotof great things. I think he's
been put into a corner with godsand Israel where there's really no way for
him to please everyone. And it'salmost like his COVID. That's what I
said it from the very beginning. It's the other guy had COVID that really

(01:02:37):
he's screwed up. But this islike Biden's COVID the Israel gods situation.
So it's unfortunate because it seems likeevery four years there's something huge that people
are protesting about, like you know, his Black Lives Matter twenty twenty,
and then now it's the Palestinian FreePalestine movement. So it's really it's interesting

(01:03:01):
how like it's almost like these thingsare like planned to happen right around an
election. It's kind of it's almostso obvious, like you know, hiding
in plain sight. So but Iyou know, I haven't really heard.
I wish my daughter would be littlemore outspoken about what's going on. We
need, we need her voice aswell. But I do notice that a
lot of fans get mad when shegets political, like they don't want her

(01:03:23):
to be political, like they wanther to just make fun dance music.
And I'm like, that's she's shewas never, you know, all right,
maybe maybe in the very beginning whenshe first started out, you know,
when she first dropped an album ortwo, Holiday was kind of political.
Holiday was kind of like, youknow, that's just one day out

(01:03:45):
of life, you know, likelet's not you know, come together.
In every nation, She's always hadlike a she always had a political spin
or like a world peace of mindedspin on her music. Love makes the
World Go Around. You forgot aboutthat song, Stevie, Oh, make
Love not War. They say it'seasy to retripe, do you know?
I am very upset that that wasnot included on the on the Live Aid

(01:04:09):
DVD. It was not it wasnot included. It's only Holiday and Into
the Groove and the digital e uh, you know they put out like all
the live audio it's on streaming andeven the Madonna single from Live Aid is
only Holiday and Into the Groove. That's a criminal move on. Whoever,

(01:04:34):
what is it Bill Geffen or whatis his name? Something like that,
something like that. So, Imean, I guess the only thing we
can do is when we're when wefinished this episode, is we're gonna finish
this episode. We Love makes theWorld Go Around. Absolutely justice for Love
Makes the Roll Go Around. It'sa really long hashtag, but get let's

(01:04:56):
let's get Love makes the World GoAround to number one. Yes, or
we could just do that, wecould like l M T W g R.
I had to really think about thathashtag hashtag justice for a l if.
You know, you know I alwaysI always you know, I always

(01:05:19):
love her little like like these littleweird songs that end up on an album
that you know, weren't like likethey were almost thought to be like a
single. Probably like I think ifshe released Love makes the World Go Around
back then, when she was likejust hit after hit, I think I
would have charted. Oh, Ithink so too. I mean, and

(01:05:41):
then there's the wonderful Jimmy Jimmy, which everyone knows makes fun of, but
I love Jimmy Jimmy. I thinkthat she should perform it. That should
that should be in the next likewhatever, even a little promo show.
She should just throw that in there, just for Jimmy Jimmy. Yeah.
I mean, we've been begging forRescue Me for how long and she hasn't

(01:06:02):
performed it. I think maybe maybewe need to, you know, start
a class action lawsuit. You know, we say, you know, this
song was a number nine hit andit's never been in any of your shows
except for that breathing thing and andMadame Max. It was the same DNA.

(01:06:23):
But do you remember though, therewas a rehearsal video where they were
singing rescue Me in the background. You remember that they were they she had,
she had? What were I don'tremember what their name, like,
the group of women from is thatwho it was? Yeah? They were.
They were in the background and theywere they were kind of doing like
like almost like a choir esque.Oh, I didn't know it was them.

(01:06:45):
Oh well, I think I thinkit was them the Buttuca girls,
right, yes, tis or whatever? Yes, So I think they they
were They were kind of they weredoing like the clapping and like the Oh
maybe it would have been in thatlittle section. That would have been really
cool right after Buka. That wouldhave been fun. So I guess we're

(01:07:08):
gonna sue Madonna for not performing.Yeah, that's the thing. Now,
if you don't like something she does, if she's two pornographic, yes,
sewer, that's right, that locker, just crack me the hell up.
I can almost understand the late complaintlike it is, you know, it
is a little crazy sometimes how lateshe is, but like and you know
whatever, like that that one Icould kind of like not side with them,

(01:07:30):
but like I kind of like understandthat. It's like, you know,
the ticket says this, and yougo on, you know whatever.
I get that. But to goto a Madonna show and not expect to
see anything sexual is I don't know, Like that's it's hysterical, you know.
Sorry, you're living under a rock, Like yeah, like how heavy
is that rock? I mean? But yeah, so I mean listen,

(01:07:56):
it's I I look at it thisway, try to sewer, go for
it. It's just keeping her namein the paper, and uh, it's
gonna build up more hype for forthe biopic, for the visual autobiography.
So the v A go ahead.Oh I just hit my microphone. I'm
so sorry. Oh you didn't.Okay, here I am. I'm being

(01:08:20):
a being a guinea and I'm talkingwith my hands with a guinea with nobody
in the room. Yeah, keepon, keep on putting that name in
the paper, you know, exactly. News lots of lots of promotion for
free, and anytime somebody has somethingto promote, they always talk about Madonna.

(01:08:41):
And that always gives them an extraline in the in the newspaper,
I mean, such as such aslife I guess, but you know,
I I didn't see too many peopleship talking her with with rio, you
know, the one point six billion, million gajillion people people were. People

(01:09:01):
were a ghasted, Like people werelike shocked and they like I almost feel
like they didn't know, like theywere upset that they couldn't complain about it.
I mean, there's exactly there's nothingto complain about. Yeah, it
was. It was a beautiful show. It was super well produced, super
well filmed. There's there was alittle you know, there was some moments

(01:09:23):
that couldn't happen because of the factthat it's outdoors, which were a little
disappointing, Like the AIDS memorial situationwas not done in the same way in
the arenas, which was just likeMac to you in the face, you
know. But you know, Ilike that she included a lot of Brazilian

(01:09:47):
people in in that tribute who hadyou know, who had AIDS and pasted.
Oh I didn't know that. Yeah, there was there was. There
was a couple of more than acouple. I mean, there was a
good chunk of of there was somecelebrities, because I remember reading I forgive
me, I don't know who thesecelebrities are, but they were included.

(01:10:11):
And you know, I'm sure someother people who maybe aren't celebrities that were
included. So that was a nicelittle change. But they were billion Okay,
that's yeah, but they were youknow, I didn't catch that part.
I did. I did love theversion of music with the with the

(01:10:31):
samba, the samba version of musicwith the guitar. That was. That
was really cute. That was thatwas really good. I I kind of
liked that that was in there.Maybe it's but maybe it's just because,
like I, you know, wehad seen the show so many times and
relived the show so many times, you know, online and whatnot afterwards that

(01:10:59):
you know, it was just like, oh, something a little new and
a little fresh. Cool. Yeah, but she did cut out mother and
father from from the set. Butwhat they think was kind of I think
it was okay that you cut thatout because it will be included on the
pro shot. You know. Yeah, it was such a it was such

(01:11:20):
a personal moment that I don't thinkwould have translated in such a gigantic space.
Yeah, I'm well because also thescreens how they how the screens came
down, you know, you hadDavid's mother on one side, and then
that was a big part of thepresentation of it. Yeah, you're right,
Yeah, so I I guess.I mean, I'm sure they could

(01:11:41):
have done it, you know, maybe a little bit not so angled,
you know, they could have. You think we're going to get we're going
to get up like a I know, we're going to get a professional recording
from Mexico, right, m hmm. Well, they shot every date in
Mexico, so I'm sure there'll beyou know, little bits from other you

(01:12:01):
know angles or maybe better shots fromother other venues that they're going to throw
in there, because they always theyusually do that. They picked the best
shots from the probably do like ahuge collage of all the all the Vogue
Ball guests judges, m like theydid with the unapologetic bitches from Rebel part
Right. Yes, who was yourfavorite? Who was your favorite ball vokee

(01:12:25):
ball guest? That's a tough one. I think Santa's definitely up there.
Yeah, that was really funny. That was really unexpected, and it's such
a like a Madonna thing to do. Like that that weird sense of humor
that she has. I mean,I definitely loved samahayek h. That was
that was really cool, and Iloved a lot of the drag queens from

(01:12:50):
Drag Race are on there. Mmhmm, what's your name? Tricksie was
really funny, such a so hugenext Madonna, but you saw her coming
from a mile away and that wigjust floated across. It was like she
was being like crowdsurfing with that wig. I think my favorite. My favorite

(01:13:11):
was Jose. That was really cool. You're right, that's right. I
mean I don't know, maybe I'mjust biased because you know, I love
the Blonding Mission tour. Yeah, yeah, but I mean it was it
was kind of fun. I waslike, oh my god, oh my
god, you know to watch it. And Anita was fun in Brazil,

(01:13:33):
so that's right. Yeah, Anitawas really fun to watch. And I'm
trying to remember who was when Iwas in Tampa. It was Monette Money
Exchange. Okay, but that's right, you went to Tampa. I went

(01:13:55):
to That was a last minute,Like I got off the plane, my
friend and I drove to a dispensaryin Orlando and she was shopping for weed
while I was buying Madonna tickets. So I was like, I survived the
plane ride, Let's go see Madonnaexactly well. I love with real like

(01:14:15):
that. There's the images from likepeople in that hotel across the way and
they could actually see like the entirecrowd and the concert from the balcony.
Guy was posting video. Yeah, and you see like Diplo and Anita come
out and they're on the balcony andthey're like, this is insane. It
kind of kind of was insane. And then when you listen to like the

(01:14:38):
crowd singing like a virgin, yeah, wild wild. I wish I wish
we I wish we could have wentto that. That would have been fun.
I just wonder, like, arelike my big concern is like our
other pop stars is going to likejump on it and like try to like
like surpass her. Like I don'twant to mention her name, but is

(01:15:00):
you know the girl who is datingthe football star. I was like,
is she going to try to likeover like like are they going to let
Madonna have it for like a decade? You know? I mean, who
knows, Well, didn't she dothat? Didn't she tried. Maybe it
wasn't a free a free event becauseMadonna's was a free event. I don't

(01:15:23):
know if the girl dating the footballstar. We have to be careful because
we say her name three times, she shows up like beetlejuice. Yeah,
exactly. The fireworks will be gonealready in my neighborhood. By the way,
Great, are you sure the fireworks? Yeah? Yeah, I think
she did do because didn't didn't shedo a show in Brazil and somebody,

(01:15:46):
somebody like died from heat exhaustion.I was at Brazil. Maybe maybe I
might be wrong. I don't know. I don't follow I'll be honest with
you. I don't hate her,I just I don't follow her. Yeah,
yeah, it's too much. Icouldn't tell you. I couldn't tell
you like one of her songs,if you know, if I if I

(01:16:09):
heard it on the radio, I'llbe not that I listened to the radio
at all. But yeah, Ithink maybe maybe she did perform in Brazil,
and I think that there was alittle bit of controversy because the fans
were waiting and waiting and waiting, and and somebody died from heat exhaustion.

(01:16:31):
I mean, maybe I am wrongeven. I know that that did happen,
but I didn't know it was Brazil. Maybe I think it may have
been Brazil. But I mean that'sit's a lot of people to pull together.
I mean it's Diana Ross did itin the eighties, you know,
early eighties in Central Park and whoelse did it? I know that,

(01:16:56):
I know they didn't count. Ithink the Guinness Book of World Records didn't
count Rod Stewart in Brazil because itwas for New Year's Eve or New Year's.
People weren't there specifically for Rod Stewart. They were there because it was
New Year's Got it in a standaloneman? Yeah? Yeah, So I
think Diana Ross was was definitely onthat list. She was up there for

(01:17:21):
the Central Park show. But likeone point six, howbout that? That's
a lot of people. I mean, can imagine being the clean up we're
talking about cleanup crew after Ladyland.Imagine being the cleanup crew after that.
I think it was like, yeah, like what like were they all like?

(01:17:42):
Were they were they drinking stuff?Like was there people walking around selling
like shaha or something? Or no? I would hope that they had what
are they called? Why am Idrawing a blank. No, hold on,

(01:18:03):
I can't think of what they're called? Now? Why am I?
Is it something to think? Yeah? What do they? They sell them
at the beach, you know, like the street liquor nutcrackers, thank you?
Oh my god? Why I grewa blank there? Like I'm sure
they were like probably sell a nutcrackers. They're like walking by the nutcracker,
you know, bottled water one dollar, saying in Portuguese, in Portuguese,

(01:18:30):
did you well you were in youwere in Montreal for for for the Brazil
show. I set everything up onmy computer to watch it, and I
I just like I turned it on. I was like, all right,
just let it. Let we gotit on. Let's just leave it.
And I watched My Girl, themovie My Girl and Portuguese with Portuguese dubbed.

(01:18:56):
Yeah, that's really funny. Andthen they did show the flooding,
all that flooding that they had.It was like catastrophic in Brazil. Oh
that's right. She donated a bunchof money to me, and she donated
secretly donated money to that and somebodylet it out. Yeah. Yeah,
she said a lot that she doesn'tthat pizza, she doesn't brag about,

(01:19:18):
which I love. Yeah, yeah, but the the what did the de
fighting? The fighting happened like nearwhere the concert was or I don't.
I don't believe it was in Riode Janeiro. I think it was elsewhere.
Okay, maybe in Brazil, justnot not necessarily right there. I

(01:19:41):
I'll be honest, I don't knowgeography too well. I failed neither.
I didn't. I did turn up. I have some friends from Guyana,
and I really thought Diana was inthe Caribbean. And then I just found
out last night when I looked ata map that it's actually next to Venezuela
and Brazil. Yeah. Like,I was so perplexed by that because Guyanese
people are they're they grabbed in peoplefrom India as slaves and populated Guyana one

(01:20:12):
hundred two years ago. But it'swhat's weird is like people from Guyana look
have are completely Indian blood, likefrom India, but yet Venezuela and Brazil
like are completely different like nationality, like it's it's just it's just weird to
me that they're so close, yetthere's no like like it's like it's got

(01:20:33):
a wall around it or something. That's why I always thought because a lot
of people who are from Guyana likelike sound a little bit like Caribbean people.
And I'm being an ignorant white person, I'm sure, but like they
talk almost like in a petzois likein a in like a like a West
Indian kind of sound. So Ialways thought that they were West Indian.

(01:20:56):
No, they're like South American,Like, oh my god, because I'm
like, my best friend is fromGuyana, like one of my best friends
in Goroghana and another couple other people, and I'm like, oh, South
America. It's in the south,so that that way, but it's like
the like the north northeast part ofSouth of South America. So it's like

(01:21:21):
it's right above Brazil and right tothe right or east of Venezuela. But
like a Venezuelan and a guy Ineseperson, like they're nothing alike. It's
so that's what that's where I was. I was boggled, like my mind
was boggled about it. I mean, but yeah, geography has never been
my strong point. I'm not verygood. I'm not very good with directions.

(01:21:44):
He would tell me to go north, I don't know what that means.
Up, just just go up.If I'm on and I'm on Seventh
Avenue, I know which way isnorth and south. But if I'm just
in a random part of Queens,I don't know which way is north and
which way is south. Well that'sbecause Queens has so many different Like the
roads are all different, you know, the streets. It's it's twenty twenty

(01:22:05):
Avenue, twentieth Road, twentieth Street. Yeah. Yeah, when you're on
you're in Manhattan and you're on seventhAvenue, I know that Seventh Avenue goes
south, so I know that thetraffic is going south, you know,
like it's there's ways to figure itout in the grid, you know.
I just yeah, I I neverthought of it that way. I just

(01:22:26):
kind of Walkah. Also, Idon't put too much thought into it.
I'm just like, yeah, okay, it's this way. Well watch where
you walk because the sidewalk talks, okay, and you can't keep a secret
from the ground beneath you, ifyou know. You know, that's right.
We're getting silly now. Well we'vealways been silly. But yeah,

(01:22:46):
Like if i'm if I'm if I'mlooking at the World Trade Center and I'm
on like eighth Street, I knowthat that south not the World Trade Center,
but the Freedom Tower. Oh mygod, one one World Trade.
It's one World Trade. And ifI'm looking at the Empire State Building and
I'm on Fourteenth Street, I knowthat that's north. You know what I

(01:23:08):
mean, there's yeah, I guessthat's a. That's a. I never
thought of it that way either. And also I just always walked or like
you know, I figured it outright, just like, Okay, it's
this way. Like I never thoughtlike, oh, I have to look
for this landmark to go south.Yeah, I'm a landmark person. Like

(01:23:29):
make a left at the Arby's andmake a right at the shop right,
and then make another left at theat the Like do you have a shop
right in Queens Now? There usedto be one in Uh, there was
a path mark in a Harlem.I don't think shop right. I don't
think there's the shop rates in Jersey. I think. I don't think there's
a shop right in in Brooklyn Avenue. There is. Yeah. See I

(01:23:50):
grew up with a shop right, like down the block from where we grew
up. So that's why I knowshop I always say shop right worked,
you used to work at shop right? Wow, I never did that.
Like a lot of my friends werewere cashiers at grocery stores. I never.
I never did that. It's likethe one job I didn't have.
That's all right, I didn't missmuch. I mean I used to work

(01:24:10):
at clothing stores like that was mything. Okay, right, all right,
Well, I think we should probablywrap this up and we'll get we'll
meet up again in a couple ofweeks. It won't be like a month,
but we're gonna and just reminded everyonethat not only is Madonna the sixteenth
Ansuine Madonna Worship happening, we're gonnaannounce the if you follow me at DJ

(01:24:34):
chomzy D, I don't forget tofollow Stevie at Stevie vox as T E
v I E U v o Xand Madonna Worship on Instagram. But we
have not only the sixteenth Anue MadonnaWorship Night at three dollar Bill on August
sixteenth, but August twenty fifth isa Sunday, and we're bringing the Madonna
Worship Party to Fire Island at theIce Palace on Cherry Grove. That's exciting,

(01:24:58):
and that's completely free. That's afree event, but it's a really
cool, but it starts earlier, starts at six and at the Ice Palace,
and my suggestion would be to getthere early, get some sun on
the beach. It's the litub Benitaedition, and then come to the party
at six o'clock, have an earlydinner, and the party's over early and
the last boat leaves around eleven thatnight, so you can still get home
that night. You don't have tofind accommodations to stay on the island unless

(01:25:21):
you want to. I mean, yeah, I'm excited about that because I
love Fire Island and the people whoown, people who run the Ice Palace
also run Red Eye, where I'vedone a lot of the Madonna worships lately
while she was on tour and formy birthday. So they they connected with
them to do a party out there, and there might be a very special

(01:25:44):
surprise guest that's coming that is abig Madonna fan, if you know,
you know from drag Race. Theymight be coming. We're not sure,
but I'll just leave it. ButI'm excited. Uh, I'm away.
Our friend, our common friend hassomething really fantastic in store for Brooklyn at

(01:26:06):
three dollars bill. I'm not goingto say much more about it, But
it's going to be really cool. There's actually we probably have the most performers
we've ever had for that party, and it's going to be like the things
that people are coming up with andplanning on doing are just making my heart
like palpitate because it's going to bethat's a beautiful stage to begin with,

(01:26:26):
and it's a beautiful venue, Ithink because it's on her birthday and because
she's in such and everyone's good gracesright now, I think it's going to
be our biggest party yet. Andthe performers are always all of them so
good, so talented, and everybody'sso creative. Yeah, people really like
they really take it and they gothey go far with it, which I

(01:26:47):
love. So I'm psyched for bothparties. And I've never been to Fire
Island, so that's gonna be exciting. That's gonna be really cool. We'll
get there early and then we'll hangout and then we'll start the party.
But yeah, that's it's really crazythat it started out as this little and
like I used to do a partycalled Beetle Juice. Speaking of Beetle Juice,
it was all music from their lateeighties and early nineties, when like

(01:27:11):
aroundwan Beetle Juice came out, andwhen August came around back in two thousand
and nine, I was like, all right, it's Madonna's birthday month,
let's do a Madonna. I didall Madonna, but only from like that
period, which is crazy. Ionly did like like a virgin too,
like like a prayer Vita. Iguess, you know, like I only
did like late eighties early nineties Madonna. There was that much music that I

(01:27:34):
could and it was It was asuccessful night. People loved it, and
the following year it got bigger andbetter, and then you know, I
did it there for a couple ofyears, and eventually when I started working
at Stonewall, I would do itthere. I did it there from twenty
fourteen to two thousand and nineteen.I guess that we did the online one

(01:27:55):
when during the pandemic. Then Ithink we did one one or two more
at that Stonewall, and then Ifor the fifteenth anniversary last year, I
was like, let's move it toa bigger venue. And we had a
really great night last year. Butthis year, I'm really excited for it.
It's gonna be wild. But likewe said, justice for love makes
the world go round, so we'regonna hurt her. So it was I

(01:28:24):
think it was a really fun episode. We kind of just went off on
tangents and just talked about the Queen. I mean, it's been a while.
We didn't do this last month,so yeah, we didn't. Yeah.
I thought we did an episode earlyJune. I forgot. I think
it was the end of May.Whatever. We'll play catch up and well,

(01:28:45):
we'll eventually start popping up on iTunes. I'm sitting up that on iTunes,
and I think there's another another podcastsite that we'll end up on,
but that should be going into effectsoon. But we're glad. Have you
been listening and did episode four? Not so bad. We're maintaining and uh,
I'm excited. We'll probably get anotherepisode in the next couple of weeks.

(01:29:13):
Hopefully we'll have something exciting and newto talk about, maybe like a
new song might come out or something. You never know. That's what I'm
waiting for. I'm waiting for justpop us to single, you know,
just give us a BP and it'ssomething I know, you know what I
really want. I want like ananniversary physical release of something collector I am

(01:29:35):
so give us a little something, give us, give us, you know,
Rhino Records, give us a bluray of at most mixes or something.
But all right, well, allright, well it's been real fun
and I'm glad we got to eventhough we didn't see each other, and
probably got to experience her together inthe same venue. We breathed breath the

(01:30:00):
same air. Yes we did.Yeah, all right, you have a
good night, Stevie, and thankyou everybody for listening until next time.
And here's love makes to work around. From shoe blue we say crazy to

(01:30:35):
read me to day. Unless wegot s we gone. I got to
say the every boy in the spurand from the airs were we've got to

(01:31:03):
take a stand reach out. Thesaw one can love makes no more,
don't It's easy to the stone again. If you don't feel the sound is
bred. Love makes they think thatwe can't teach them how to try,

(01:31:27):
please to understand, breach out thestall with God tverything you do. Spending
time to you. You have tochange a bag before I get any on

(01:31:48):
the elbing were we've got to takea stand reach out. The saw one
can love makes the world go round. It's easy to the stone that people.
Don't you sound as this look likejust takes a no, makes a

(01:32:11):
fool, don't make it so don'tjudge Tom. Do you been standing in
his shoes? You know the girlsso quick to because it see anything.

(01:32:32):
Don't you know that what I sayit is juice love like put love like

(01:33:01):
