Speaker 1 (00:00):
What a week in the world of advertising you or?
From band campaigns to bold new laws and the continuing
battle between traditional media and digital. The UK's Advertising Standard
Authority has put body image back in the spotlight, urging
brands to avoid using images of extremely thin looking models.
They say angles, lighting and styling can often create a

(00:23):
harmful impression and advertisers need to take more care. Also
in Britain, Sanex has had a shower gel advert band
after regulators said it reinforced negative racial stereotypes. The ruling
highlights how diversity and sensitivity remain front and center for
the industry. In Spain, lawmakers have gone further, proposing a

(00:45):
draft bill to ban adverts for fossil fuels, most domestic flights,
and even so called green washing claims. The plan also
targets profit driven ticket resales at concerts. While the bill
faces hurdles in Parliament, it marks a clear push towards
more sustainable advertising. But while policy is tightening, the market

(01:06):
itself is shifting fast. Spanish television advertising revenues fell nearly
six percent in the first half of the year, with
major broadcasters seeing steep declines. By contrast, digital advertising is booming,
set to more than double by twenty thirty, with mobile
formats leading the way. That's your Advertising Trends weekly, where creativity,

(01:28):
regulation and technology collide. I'm Mark Nolan, and you are
welcome to join me on Mad black cat dot com
every Saturday as we unpack the big shifts shaping the
ad world.

Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
