Speaker 5 (03:23):
So oh, I.
Speaker 2 (03:23):
Forgot about That's long since I've double of that.
Speaker 1 (03:28):
So but all right, we've got a ton to talk
about tonight. Travis has already said he's he's got some Eventually,
he may have to bow out at some point just
because it's late, even though he has tomorrow off. But Jake, Jake,
he doesn't know how how far in advance and time
are you? Travis?
Speaker 4 (03:47):
Right now it's ten ten forty six, So he's he
lives in a mutant form of time in Canada.
Speaker 3 (03:54):
And I'm the opposite. I'm I'm six sixteen, So I
got a long night ahead of me.
Speaker 5 (04:01):
You know.
Speaker 3 (04:02):
You know, I'll try to be entertaining enough to like
keep you to want to stay the whole time.
Speaker 4 (04:06):

But I've been told a little bit of Jake goes
a long way, so I won't blame you if you have.
Speaker 1 (04:13):

Speaker 5 (05:22):
It's a really good film. I watched it.
Speaker 4 (05:23):
I was shocked because I never watched it before Chris
and it was fantastic, just getting together to record that
this weekend and I'll have that by Monday for the pavements.
Speaker 1 (05:31):

animated movie in Disney's catalog in chronological orders. So if
it had animation, and if even it was a mix
(05:51):
of animation and live action, he is reviewing on the
first and fifteenth of every month.
Speaker 6 (05:56):
Why does Joe do that? Because he likes.
Speaker 1 (05:58):
Having constant content on the Patreon stream. So we play,
we we thank him for his sacrifice.
Speaker 4 (06:04):
At that point, is that when Christmas or Halloween rolls?
Speaker 5 (06:07):
Right?
Speaker 1 (06:08):
Yes?
Speaker 2 (06:09):
Is it in any specific order?
Speaker 6 (06:10):
Like is he going chronological or chronological?
Speaker 1 (06:13):
Yep, chronological.
Speaker 4 (06:15):
I think he's into the seventies. I'm not sure my sixty.
Speaker 6 (06:19):
Yeah, yeah, he even did.
Speaker 1 (06:20):
He even did the the kind of propaganda stuff too,
like the Skinnies, So.
Speaker 2 (06:26):
Oh my gosh, yeah, God, God speed.
Speaker 1 (06:29):
Exactly so, but check that all lovely back content out there.

thank our official sponsor, Organic price Books dot Com of

OPB have got it going on with excellent customer service,
immaculate packaging, ships around the world earn rewards to gearing
the extra discounts. And we have a lot of new
(07:12):
Marvel collect editions. We've got new Avengers by Brian Michael Bennis,
Omnibus volume two, first time ever in print. We've got
some epics, We've got some new other new one new
Omnibus as x Men by Jerry Duggan, Omnibus two covers
of That she Hulk by Rainbow Raoul Raoul Omnibus. We've
got Spider Man Noir. Hey, remember you know that show
(07:35):
that's coming to Amazon called Spider Noir. Yeah, this is
it because they can't they're afraid to use the word
Spider Man and Sony Uh, the Old Republic Legends Volume two,
Shield Omnibus, and a whole bunch of others. But you
we have a special announcement coming from Jake because for
for a while, for the since our partnership with opp
we've always had the Marvel gua at checkout for two
(07:58):
dollars off. But Jake, who has a special connection with OPB,
has initiated a new discount code for listeners, a Marvel Alliance. Jake,
what is that discount code and what does it allow
them to do?
Speaker 4 (08:10):
Well?
Speaker 2 (08:11):
I'm happy to help support you guys.
Speaker 3 (08:13):
So you know, we have so proud to announce a
new discount code for if you're buying four or more books.
It is mg UA, which is short for Marvel Geek
Ultimate Alliance and then sit so mu GA S I
T and you'll get five percent off of four more books. Now,
the one thing I want to note is even though
(08:34):
the code says ship it together, you're not I say
you have a book that are like six months apart
in pre order, or even a month apart in pre order,
you don't have to wait for all of them to
ship it together. We're going to ship them all at
the same time, which all at different times as they
become available. I mean, maybe we'd wait if it's like
a ten dollars Marvel Premiere, the new Premiere collections, but
(08:55):
everything else will ship separately as they become available.
Speaker 1 (08:58):
Yep, So thank you, Jake, so again, I just put
it in the chat. M g u a sit get
five percent off for four or more books at that point,
so that can save you a pretty penny.
Speaker 2 (09:09):
So it's it's it's saved Chris a pretty penny the
other day.
Speaker 1 (09:13):
Maybe it hasn't come in yet, it's probably gonna save
me a pretty penny later at night for some of
those new uh distinguished competition books that just got announced.
So so, but.
Speaker 3 (09:27):
You my ward's trying to my ward's trying to defend me,
but no use code.
Speaker 2 (09:32):
N g u a sit. I am a guest on
this one too, but that's my.
Speaker 1 (09:36):
Ward is loyal bro exactly so. But Jake, before we
get into it, for those Marvel lines, who are not
words of yours or not people who have ever listened
to or heard about talk. Just give us a quick
talk about your channel. I know you are because I
co host with you on there, but tell us a
little bit about your channel, little bit about yourself before
(09:57):
we get into the main topic at hand. Daredevil Born Again.
Speaker 3 (10:02):
Well, I would say that if you are a huge
fan of Marvel Ultimate, you know, Geek Ultimate Alliance, and
you don't know about me, that probably makes sense because
my channel is very DC focused. So you know, I'm
not the you know, I'm not the Quinn Central Marvel fan,
but I love me some Daredevil. So we started out
as a YouTube podcast and then switched to making YouTube
videos and we do a lot of top ten lists,
(10:24):
a lot of reading lists, and you know, I've been
doing more Marvel content lately, but for a long time,
my audience was like, we only want DC. So, you know,
I don't often get to talk about my love.
Speaker 2 (10:35):
Of Marvel characters like Daredevil. So I'm excited to be.
Speaker 1 (10:37):
Here especially and I've I've got my one of my
shirts I got for my birthday, my new Daredevil shirt.
You've got your mass, You've got something Dared devil. He's
got his coffee cups and go he's on there. So oh,
look look at this. Look who's in here, my arch nemesis, Alex,
because he and I continue to have our rivalry of
saying that Cyclops is definitely Cyclops is still wrong even
(11:00):
though he says he's right. But I appreciate Alex.
Speaker 3 (11:03):
I almost I almost think Chris a picture because I
got this new Marvel art book by David Nakiyama, and
one of the covers is Cyclops kissing a girl while well, like,
I guess someone looks shocked in the background, and then
the second page is like Cyclops looking shocked in the
background as I guess someone cheats on him. So I
don't know a lot about X men, but to me,
I was like, Cyclops looks wrong in that picture, Like there's.
Speaker 1 (11:25):
A lot of wrong with Cyclops. But anyways, another topic
for another. We can't give any more airplay to him,
so let us talk to someone who we want to
give a little airplay too. So we got a double
dose of episodes this week of Daredevil, So we're gonna
the first part of the show with looking at episode five,
entitled with Interest that the Internet has seemed to dub
(11:49):
a bottle episode where I've constantly seen what a waste
or I've seen it's it wasn't necessary, but I still
liked it, or you like or like maybe some of
us and and maybe have different opinion or similar opinions.
You know, we welcome all opinions on this show. So
who wants to go first with just high level non
spoiler thoughts before we get into it.
Speaker 4 (12:10):
I'll jump in them quickly and say I didn't think
it was a bottle episode. I enjoyed the episode quite
a bit, especially the end. I just had a smirk
on my face when he slipped in that gym into
the candy. That just just made me smile. I enjoyed
the action. This was basically another step to get Matt
back in the suit. That's what it felt like, just
(12:30):
the first step. In the next episode we get the
real push to that, but in this episode I felt
like got that way. Also, you open up a little
bridge for potential of Matt Murdoch showing up on another
season of Miss Marvel if it happens, or then meeting
up in some other property, which I did enjoy.
Speaker 3 (12:49):
What do you think, Jake, I think there's there's a
big difference between something being like a filler bottle episode
and something being Slice of Life. And I feel like,
if you're an actual commic with fan not every issue
is this giant, can't canonical thing that.
Speaker 2 (13:05):
Really pushes the thing forward.
Speaker 3 (13:06):
It was cool to see a Slice of Life like
a you know what if I will say that it
did seem a little different than some of the other
episodes this season. It had more Marvel connections, you know
what I mean, with a bigger Marvel world.
Speaker 2 (13:19):
I almost want to.
Speaker 3 (13:20):
Know, Like if I knew behind the scenes how the
sausage got made, I would be curious. Was this a
pre overhaul episode or a pos overhaul episode?
Speaker 2 (13:29):
There we go. But to me, I enjoyed the Slice
of Life.
Speaker 3 (13:33):
I liked I liked the you know, but I liked
it because to me, it was a different tone. But
Daredevils had different runs with different tones, and I'm here
for it.
Speaker 2 (13:40):
You know.
Speaker 1 (13:41):
Yeah, We've got you know a lot of them. We've
had our friend all in the game in there, st Dude, Spike, Lee,
Intimid oh in more ways. You know, probably you already
know what I'm getting ready to refer to on the
game and Alex saying, yes, I do. I do live
in constant opposite day, but it's fine. So but you know,
a lot of a lot of love in the chat
(14:02):
and that pot. So Yeah, my opinion is, yes, I
really did enjoy this episode. And to kind of answer
your question, Jake right off the bat, this is the
only episode in the nine episodes see first season that
that was completely left untouched. This is it and nothing
was changed, nothing was altered. This was this was the
It was always going to be in the middle of
(14:22):
the season. So this would technically be since that the
first episode of this show was not in the original thing.
This was technically episode four of the original show. But
interestingly enough that I actually did enjoy this episode. Once
I kind of saw where it was going, I said, okay,
this is all going to kind of take place here.
Speaker 6 (14:41):
But as we have gone through.
Speaker 1 (14:43):
Matt's you know, rise again to redon the Suit, I
can understand why they they put these back to back,
just because obviously we heard the discourse that went on.
Speaker 6 (14:56):
Yeah, they we knew even even David and.
Speaker 1 (14:59):
I called it last week that the second episode, the
second episode of this two episode series, was going to
be the dawning of the suit.
Speaker 6 (15:06):
So but I enjoyed it.
Speaker 1 (15:09):
We knew from trailers we were gonna ge Kamala Khan's
father in this, so it's good to kind of see it.
I thought the interaction between both of them was really good,
Matt putting on the charm. We've got probably some of
the dumbest criminals that when it comes to a robbery
of a bank, I think they need to watch the
movie The Town or Heat in order to get some
(15:32):
better ways of going in and out quickly instead of
just hanging around asking to be caught. But I did
enjoy this episode. I thought I thought it was good there,
like with everything, a little qualms here and there, but
I enjoyed it. I didn't you know, in the long
stem of things, I think this is again further character
development for Matt and seeing exactly how does he live
(15:54):
a double life and continue to kind of He's tried
to be on the lawyer side, but now he has
to necessarily. He can't just sit back and let bad
things happen, as we kind of saw. But all right,
so let's get into the spoiler wall. So if you
haven't seen episode five, stop watch come back, or if
you don't want to. We're all about to be spoiled.
So but as all in the Game said that, there's
(16:16):
a lot more going on with this episode than just
being inspired by Inside Man. This was filmed at the
same bank as Inside Man, so I literally watch it
this bank looked for that I saw and that story
was broken by Brandon Davis from Fay's Hero when interviewing
the director at that point. So we start off with
Saint Patrick's a celebrations and once again the bleeding heart
(16:40):
and retired superhero Matt Murdoch has slapped for cash. Imagine that, gentleman,
and so he heads down to the local bank to
see if he can get alone.
Speaker 6 (16:48):
And who does he run into, None other than.
Speaker 1 (16:51):
Assistant bank manager Yusef Khan played by Mohan Kupar, the
father of Kamala Kom whom fans previously met and fell
in love with in Miss Marvel and the Marvels. You know,
there had been some controversy behind the actor and tied
with some of their accusations of sexual harassment things like that,
(17:11):
But I don't know if it's ever been proven false
or true, but it wasn't enough necessarily to remove him
from the episode, So just neither here nor there. I'm
not saying what was done is right or wrong. It's
just you know, that was the accusation made. So what
do y'all think of that interaction of him, you know,
eventually getting the back and forth between mister Kahan and
(17:34):
mister Murdoch.
Speaker 2 (17:36):
I mean, how long till they start selling that Funko
pop right?
Speaker 5 (17:40):
Like?
Speaker 2 (17:40):
That was that was adorable?
Speaker 3 (17:41):
Also funny that like he tries to show Matt and
Matt's like, I mean, they can make that joke at
every episode in a different way and I'll laugh every
single time.
Speaker 2 (17:50):
But yeah, how how soon they'll pre orders for that
Funko pop pop up? I feel like, yeah, which.
Speaker 1 (17:56):
What do you think of that interaction? Travis?
Speaker 4 (17:58):
Like I said, just more him see you connections and
opens up to the potential for further appearances, Like Matt
thought he appeared in She Hall as well, So I
think I wouldn't put it past them to have plans
for him to show up in other places.
Speaker 6 (18:13):
Yeah, it's it's it's gonna be good.
Speaker 1 (18:14):
But it's almost one of those things where they talk about,
like have you not heard of Jersey City's famous superhero?
Do we really believe Matt has not heard anything about
you know, miss Marvel. I still find that kind of
hard to believe. He's just kind of playing a ruse
same Chris.
Speaker 4 (18:30):
He might even know who she actually is, depending on
any events she's already had in the city.
Speaker 1 (18:36):
Yep, Matt, it says in the chat, saying Thot, Murdoch
and Con were great together. They share more in common
than many of them realize. Yes, so he ends up
making a pretty pleasant report with the lovable father. As
you expect. Con can't give him a glowing endorsement, can't
help but give a glowing endorsement of his daughter. But
you know, he's like he's towing the line there of
(18:57):
almost revealing it, of how proud he is of his daughter.
I even chuckled that Matt praises oh Jerseys. He's amazing.
It's way better than Hoboken. I was like, that is
never said so much. So I've I've lived in these
because for a quarter of my life, and not many
people have ever, not many people say those words.
Speaker 5 (19:20):
It's act.
Speaker 4 (19:22):
The actor did a good job of portraying that to you.
Speaker 5 (19:24):
Chris.
Speaker 4 (19:25):
Ye oh, my like literally looked like those first time
you ever heard anybody say that.
Speaker 1 (19:28):
To you, Alexander saying, and the Auxander Miller saying he
might be blind to knowing it. Touche. So we you know,
despite pleasant conversations, despite his pleasant character, he's unable to
get the loan because he takes on too many pro
bono cases gets nothing in return. However, instead of being
(19:49):
able to spend the rest of Saint Patrick's stay in peace,
who comes wandering in guys to ruin the bank's day
of a pleasant day? As Murdock walks.
Speaker 4 (19:57):
Out Luca's people who guys, I think the Lucas guys.
Speaker 1 (20:02):
Right, yeah, they want Yeah, they're getting red robber I
call them. I call them either Skittles heads or the
Infinity Saga Infinity gem heads. No, the soulestone was the
diamond actually oh.
Speaker 4 (20:15):
Yeah yeah it's not the ski mask sorry minus the
ski masks soulso.
Speaker 6 (20:19):
So yeah, so it's uh.
Speaker 1 (20:21):
As bank robbers start rounding up hostages, Matt's enhanced hearing,
which is cool, and that which is still I think
still kind of a cool effect that they they do,
because you know, I know some people saying.
Speaker 6 (20:34):
Oh they should change it up.
Speaker 1 (20:35):
What else do you want them to do?
Speaker 5 (20:37):
You know.
Speaker 6 (20:38):
I mean, do what do you think, Jake?
Speaker 1 (20:40):
Do you do you like the effect that they're using
for the the Matt senses.
Speaker 2 (20:48):
I mean, I don't mind it.
Speaker 3 (20:49):
I I think that like there are more unique ways
sometimes that they could try to portray it, but like
I didn't, I didn't take me out of it at all.
Speaker 2 (20:57):
You know what I mean.
Speaker 4 (20:59):
We don't even get the Spoder sins, So I'm not
going to complain about actually getting something of showing him
using his power sleep that.
Speaker 1 (21:06):
Yeah, Matt h is calling out JAKELB. I think Jake
and said Jersey City was has way more gutter mutants.
Speaker 2 (21:13):
I'm never gonna live that down. Say gutter mutants.
Speaker 3 (21:16):
You say gutter mutants on air one time when you're
talking about the Morlocks, and you know, and the internet
lets you forget.
Speaker 1 (21:24):
Kind of like Omar calling Batman a six out of
ten detective.
Speaker 3 (21:28):
Look, all I'm gonna say is Jersey City has more
gutter mutants than Hoboken, And I feel like we can
all agree on that.
Speaker 6 (21:35):
So I like it. When he's on the phone with.
Speaker 1 (21:39):
Kristen, uh, you know, Kristen talking about they weren't able
to get the loan, He'll go somewhere else that here's
here's what's going on at the bank with the senses
and says call the police and then hangs.
Speaker 3 (21:51):
Upright like not even not even.
Speaker 2 (21:56):
A tad bit of a follow up.
Speaker 1 (21:58):
Nope, he just said, is that she she has superpowers
At that point, so Matt returns to the bank where
the robbery is taking place, and it's quickly noticed by
there would be a sunce. Well, he's just walking into
the bank because the amazing criminals forgot to lock the
doors walking.
Speaker 4 (22:18):
Yes, I had a problem with that as well, because
I thought about wanting the police just walking in. So
we never once saw them go to you like, just
put something across the door, like a like a colt
like something to cross the door. You could have a
kind of door like that where you can just block
it from opening. That would have been nice to see
it just look like you just walking at any point
in time.
Speaker 2 (22:37):
At least flip that sign that says closed from opening clothes.
Speaker 1 (22:40):
Do something man. Uh.
Speaker 6 (22:42):
So the so he comes back in he kind of uh,
you know, is.
Speaker 1 (22:45):
Blind, and they mock him for the blind profession being
a lawyer, and they begin, you know, basically trying to
press youseth to as being the assistant manager for to
get into the balls so they can get into the
safety to pots the box and get this an item
that will help pay off the debt. Con lies about
being able to open the vault in as I've quoted him,
(23:06):
Jesse James, that's the name he gave the police deals
with Officer Angie Kim.
Speaker 6 (23:15):
This was my thing. It's like that, didn't you know?
It is what it is. It's serviceable.
Speaker 1 (23:20):
They banter between Angie Kim and Jesse James. But it
was just like, eh, you know, the whole joke thing.
Speaker 5 (23:26):
I could care less about that too.
Speaker 4 (23:27):
That was just it was like, well, you're just trying
to fill a bit of time here, like this means
nothing to this the whole grand scheme of things.
Speaker 3 (23:35):
I almost got the vibe like they thought it was
hilarious though, Like they thought it was like Quinton Tarantino esque,
like like like banter, and like I just felt like
it dragged on, like I'm not watching the show to
hear the punchline of a penguin joke. I'm here, like
watch Matt do dope stuff, you know.
Speaker 1 (23:55):
Yep, so they you know, Matt pretend and he needs
to use the bathroom and manages to have a cool
stairway fight scene with one of the guys, so much
so that that proving his powers. At that point, when
the guy drops the shotgun, he is able to grab
(24:17):
it right before it falls out of reach in order
to not alert this stuff. What did you guys think
of that stair the stairway fight.
Speaker 3 (24:23):
My wife got mad at me because I'd like, I
just got a text, work related text right when that happened,
and I looked down and I missed it, and she's like,
you're not even watching, And she made me rewind it
so I could see the stairway par She's like, put
your phone away, this is your show, Like you're going
to watch the rest of it. Like so I paid
attention after that part, but she did have to rewind it.
Speaker 2 (24:41):
She got pissed.
Speaker 5 (24:44):
I enjoyed it, Chris.
Speaker 4 (24:45):
It was a nice little quick action scene there. And again,
I have anyone have any issues with just one of
the bank robbers taking the guy to the bathroom. You
think that would be something they would do or do
you think they would just because he's blind?
Speaker 3 (25:00):
Like they like no one, no one, No one gives
him the credit that he's due, maybe because of the
fact that he's blind.
Speaker 4 (25:06):
You know, he played that car the previous part, or
is this after this when he lets two people go?
Speaker 5 (25:13):
This is this is after they let two people.
Speaker 6 (25:16):
He did a couple and he kind of played.
Speaker 4 (25:19):
His card there too, where he called that out and
they kind of like looked at him. So I don't
know why they would just let him go off as
one person, because he said to him like, don't treat me, like,
don't take pity on me, and I was like, yeah,
like I wouldn't do that. So I don't know why
they just sent one person that just made no sense
for the tone they sit for the whole other part
(25:40):
with the rest of the people they were holding hostage.
Speaker 1 (25:43):
Elexander Miller saying again, I could probably be a better
bank robber than these guys. Details and couldn't believe they
were walking him to the rest room.
Speaker 4 (25:51):
That took me out, especially where they give they hit.
Speaker 1 (25:55):
Him far away.
Speaker 3 (25:57):
But also not only was it far away, they knew
it exactly where it was, and they were like taking
stairwells and stuff like that, like.
Speaker 1 (26:03):
Goodness, gracious, Alexander, you're you're on fire. And I both
bat and the robbers didn't see it coming beyond comics
taking him to the bathroom. Nicest bank robbers ever. They
were so polite.
Speaker 2 (26:16):
They were They were like, does anybody else need to go?
Speaker 3 (26:18):
Like what would have happened if it's like two other
people were like actually I need And also like I
don't know the fact that only none of them said
they also had to go kind of took me out
of it too.
Speaker 5 (26:27):
I know.
Speaker 4 (26:28):
Yeah, they were so nice, So yeah, it shocked me
sometimes there.
Speaker 1 (26:36):
So yeah, so the Matt pretend steady, you know, the
bathroom thing works off at that point, and he managed
to getpacitate him with the red back lah blah that
accompanies him arriving just in time to rescue mister Kahan
from his increasingly irritated guard, and as Kim tries to
buy some time by telling Devil in a joke, Matt
(26:59):
and Youse are actually managing to open the safe. I
love how Matt just says.
Speaker 6 (27:05):
Like, trust it.
Speaker 1 (27:06):
I don't know how I mean. Is mister Kahn just
that gullible? I mean yet to know that he just
accepts the fact that the blind lawyer knows how to
break into a bank safe just he's he's just he's
a really good lawyer.
Speaker 5 (27:18):
You know, he just.
Speaker 4 (27:19):
Choked that guy like twenty seconds earlier.
Speaker 5 (27:21):
That was going to kill you too.
Speaker 3 (27:22):
So also, how good was his his irish accent? I
felt like, what is better than Jesse James Man, Like
that's true, his fake irish accent. I felt like was
was superior.
Speaker 1 (27:34):
Yep. So they get to the safety deposit buck that
has a very expensive looking diamond that's going to be
worth one point eight million dollars at that point, getting
closer than ever been, breaking his promise to seize his
activities by tossing a flash bang instead of the diamond
that they think they have, and the copstorm the building
(27:55):
or breast most of the thieves, but Devlyn don the
police uniform and makes escape until the Devils of Hell's
Kitchen catches up with him and snap leg.
Speaker 6 (28:11):
God we all heard that cracking.
Speaker 3 (28:13):
Ooh yeah, the bone snappying sound effects have been amazing
this season.
Speaker 4 (28:19):
Was like, I really hope you haven't sure us dude.
Oh his nicle was destroyed. It was so it was
so very nice too.
Speaker 1 (28:29):
Yeah, it was it was. It was, you know, another
good fight scene there. You know, you gotta love the classic.
You know, Matt doesn't want to he doesn't have his
costumes that we're going to take a red scarf, and
just how many times does he does he need that
at that point?
Speaker 3 (28:42):
So I liked the post where someone was like, did
he know it was red? Because that of course it's.
Speaker 5 (28:47):
Red, right.
Speaker 6 (28:47):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (28:48):
When mister Khan kept talking while Matt was cracked a safe,
I was like, buddy, shut up, he's trying to.
Speaker 5 (28:56):
Dude.
Speaker 3 (28:56):
I like, at six thirty nine, I'm sure half of
them already went Yeah.
Speaker 1 (29:02):
So what did you think about the quote unquote reveal
of the female hostage who was in on it thinking
that she actually had the diamond instead, it looks like
Matt made the quick slip. Did you guys think that
they had another inside woman?
Speaker 6 (29:19):
As it were.
Speaker 4 (29:22):
A little bit because at one point when Matt is
using his hearing, he like, you can hear all the
other heartbeats being a bit more like frantic, and then
you can see for brief momently closes in on her
and hers is more really calm, and she speaks a
couple of times throughoute this just she mentions like drafter diamonds,
And I was like, how would you know that it's
like because this other guy, his family's been banking there
(29:44):
for years, so that makes sense why he does shout
out market BCAA nineteen ninety four pound too.
Speaker 5 (29:48):
Just wanted to say that as well.
Speaker 1 (29:52):
What about you, Jake? Did you did you think that
you caught on to her?
Speaker 3 (29:57):
I felt like that was a thread line or a
plot line or something that is no longer in the show,
like her character a little bit, because like they made
a big deal about her, But then I feel like,
how does she tie into the you know, to anything
else in the show, And I feel like we're never
gonna see.
Speaker 2 (30:13):
Her character again.
Speaker 3 (30:14):
So I feel like that was like a weird plot
thread that might have been a bigger deal pre overhaul.
Speaker 1 (30:19):
But yeah, yeah, I mean it's also one of those
things where I don't know it's you know, because she
basically gets away with it, Like does she get arrested later?
Does he she just likes somehow does escape with does
the candy and be thankful you're not going to jail
with the rest of the crew. Are the crew going
to basically turn her in saying we're going down. We're
(30:40):
not going down alone, you know, but we're never gonna
know it's one of those we'll.
Speaker 4 (30:43):
See her at Luca's like Lucas I fit in the
next few episodes, like yeah.
Speaker 3 (30:48):
I didn't see any bones get snapped on her. It
felt a little unfair.
Speaker 2 (30:51):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (30:52):
So the episode ends with Matt going to the bank
to see you Seth, you know, him thanking him at
that point, you know, still doesn't get the but he
offers him to come to Jersey City to have dinner
with the family. Oh yeah, we forgot to make the
reference earlier when mister Kahn talks about his daughter that
she's out in California. So we know, if you've watched
(31:14):
Miss Marvel, Bruno at the end of that season had
said that he was going out to school in California,
so we know he could be possibly visiting Bruno out there,
but maybe some Cassie Lang, you know, at that point,
she knows she's trying to assemble a Young Avengers team
or a Championed team as it were. With at the
(31:36):
end of Miss Marvel, with the end credit scene with
her recruiting Kate, the amazing Kate Bishop.
Speaker 6 (31:42):
So but we'll have to see.
Speaker 1 (31:45):
But he takes a piece of candy leaves mister con
looks in the bowl, knows that something weird and out
pops the diamond. What do you think does mister Kahn
just does he pocket that and or is he putting
it back like the good man that he is.
Speaker 4 (32:03):
I think that's the reason why Matt left it with him.
Speaker 1 (32:04):
Chris, So, all in all, what would you guys kind
of put this episode in your you know, unofficial if
you're putting this episode in where you're ranking here right
now in comparison to the others.
Speaker 5 (32:22):
Doing the breaking in my head at this exact time, are.
Speaker 3 (32:25):
We ranking it to just born again or are we
ranking it to like just the Okay, Okay, I feel
like to me this was my favorite besides like the
opening seventeen minutes of episode one, I feel like this
as a whole was my favorite episode so far. But
I don't still think it compared to like the Netflix
stuff yet. But like, to me, it felt like a
step in the right direction.
Speaker 4 (32:46):
Uh the first episode I might have enjoyed a little
bit more, but I'm right there with Jake on this one.
I think I enjoyed the next episode the most of
any of the episodes I've watched so far. But yeah,
this one was pretty enjoyable.
Speaker 1 (32:59):
Yeah, I'd tell you this one right now is literally
middle episode, middle of the pack for me. Right now.
You know, it was fun, it was enjoyable, doesn't the best.
Wasn't the worst, it was. It was just an episode.
And you know.
Speaker 3 (33:15):
I would say, though, the reason why I liked it
to me is it even though it was standalone and
slice of life, it felt the most cohesive in terms
of like, it didn't feel like there were multiple tones
going on at the same time. It didn't feel like
maybe there was a mixture of pre overhaul and post overhaul.
It just felt like a solid episode that like made sense,
I guess. So to me, it felt it felt like
(33:37):
it was consistent.
Speaker 5 (33:39):
Matt.
Speaker 1 (33:40):
It's saying I was waiting for Matt Murdoch to have
yet another love interest. Madam Gal, the evil elderly Asian
lady for Netflix a little nod to Aunt May from Trouble.
Oh my, So all right, well, we're gonna take our
first ad break for the evening before we get into
episode six, Excessive Force SOS. You know, listeners, these ads
up keep the lights on a gee Ultimate Alliance Network.
(34:02):
We don't get to choose what ads come on and
they could be a bit loud to give her that
three count before they come on three two one. We'll
be right back and we are back, all right. Episode six,
Excessive Force. What a great name for this episode. Excessive Force.
Amazing amount of festive force. But you know, we see
(34:23):
another BB report that shows video of a masked vigilante
out there donned in black that we late we later
kind of make two and two together. We see the
Swordsman in full action at that point. You know, I
miss he's out there fighting crime.
Speaker 4 (34:45):
You know, maybe the costume Chris the costume in this episode.
Speaker 1 (34:50):
Yeah, I was about to say say, man, that's the
only thing we're gonna see him, and that's kind of
a you're gouldna put anyone in that costume. But we
do see him later on. But following a quick detour
from the bank episode, we returned to the streets of
New York, where a body has been found and its
eyes gouged out. Meanwhile, a new mural has also appeared
(35:11):
on the nearby building, once again taking aim at the mayor.
It is an image of mister Kingpin kissing a bulls
butt and saying kiss king ass.
Speaker 4 (35:24):
And these these murals have been popped up a little
bit earlier in the season too, It just wasn't brought
to our attention.
Speaker 5 (35:30):
Mm hmmm, the main thing about it.
Speaker 1 (35:33):
Yeah, So we cut to Matt Murdoch back in his
apartment reciting scripture while holding Foggy's Brail remembrance card and
reflecting on some of the biggest moments from the season.
As he finishes, Heather walks in and surprised to learn
that Matt still praise. He says he's fallen off, but
he's getting back into it. Well, you know, amanging. So, Jake,
(35:54):
what do you think about this, this relationship that Matt
has with Heather. I mean, there hasn't been too many things,
but what's your feeling on this?
Speaker 3 (36:03):
Her character to me is the it's pretty strange. I
feel like if you remember her when she first appears
in the first when she's doing the book signing right like,
she like she meets that creepy dude who's like, I
really need to be a patient, and then that's never
followed up on, you know what I mean. I like
the dichotomy with her as like the marriage counselor for them,
because that's an interesting thing. But I'm not crazy about
(36:25):
them as a couple, you know what I mean? Like that,
to me is the strangest thing. I liked how that
conversation they had in that scene afterwards paralleled the other
conversation that was going on when it cut back and forth.
But her her portion with Matt seems the strangest to me,
especially like when she talks about the book that she's writing.
How like that's so on the nose to Matt, Like
(36:47):
it seems a little forced to me, I guess is
what I have to say.
Speaker 5 (36:52):
Don't care for it. It's really bland to me. That's why.
But now I think, just.
Speaker 4 (36:57):
Apparently there could be a betrayal coming from her, especially
with real well the book she's writing, and think she
may even have a hint that he might be daredevil
and went down to that road. Uh, just because I
do think that this book that she's writing might play
a bigger part going forward.
Speaker 3 (37:16):
Also, if she's really a good therapist, why would she
date Matt. He's so clearly damaged.
Speaker 1 (37:21):
Like, No, that's that's cliche as all get out. That's
so cliche.
Speaker 3 (37:27):
She's dropping she look, she's either going to drop him
when her her vigilante book is done, or she's probably
gonna die because every one of Matt's girlfriends don't live
that long.
Speaker 1 (37:36):
Yeah, he doesn't have a good record at that point.
So meanwhile, back in Mayor Fist office, Sheila Uh is
briefing Mayor Fisk about an upcoming event on his schedule,
but he tells her to go into going his place
because he's getting tired of all these black tie affairs.
She then tells him about the unexpected to guests in
(37:56):
his office, and he walks in to find Uh Luca,
the head of the Five Families. They talk business in
the Kingpin, delivering an ultimatum which Luca tells him to
shove it. This then ups the asking price from one
point eight million to two point eight million, and tells
him that he has a week to deliver or his
time is up. Luca doesn't take it kindly and leave.
(38:17):
So we're getting more and more return of the Kingpin, just.
Speaker 2 (38:23):
Sut of curiosity. How many diamonds is equivalent to two
point eight million? Out? Because if one diamond.
Speaker 3 (38:28):
Was equivalent to one point eight how many diamonds do
they have to steal?
Speaker 5 (38:31):
Now?
Speaker 1 (38:35):
Yeah, she wants to fix him, Yeah she does. At
that point, Yes, even more cliche. Axel in the chat, saying,
I thought the two episodes were all right. I didn't
know Mew's was a skilled fighter in the comics.
Speaker 6 (38:47):
I mean he's not.
Speaker 1 (38:49):
I mean he's not necessarily skilled. He's The thing that
they lose in the from the comics is that he's
an inhuman that has the ability to dull the senses
and that's what makes it difficult for Matt to as
Daredevil to compete and fight against him. But they don't
even delve into that. And I don't think it's necessary
to delve into that for this show, not for.
Speaker 5 (39:12):
What he's being used for. Chris, I don't think so.
Speaker 1 (39:14):
Yeah, just your standard stererio killer that has a screwed
up idea of what's going on. So, you know, Matt
and Heather were back to Matt and Heather, everyone get ready,
He's your favorite part, discuss the events of the prior
episode and how Matt feels about being taken hostage, which
for obvious reasons, doesn't bother him that much, though she
doesn't know why. She tells him she's getting ready to
(39:35):
write a book about vigilantes. Ooh, way to be late
to the game there and why they're revered even more
late to the game in my opinion, Matt has thoughts,
but stays diplomatic. She starts to ask him about his
prior work representing vigilantes such as The Punisher and whether
he'd consider arranging a meeting with ms Castle at that point,
which makes Murdock laugh made me laugh to us, And
(39:58):
what is this lady asking for?
Speaker 6 (40:00):
Seriously, she doesn't know what she's asking for?
Speaker 5 (40:03):
An interview with Frank Coka.
Speaker 3 (40:05):
You can't protect your women, read though I wouldn't lie
if I'm saying I wouldn't want to see that scene.
Speaker 2 (40:11):
Imagine imagine Daredevil like, hey, this is my girlfriend, Like, here's.
Speaker 3 (40:15):
A couple of cops like she wants to be Imagine
that interview scene.
Speaker 2 (40:17):
How upset Frank would be.
Speaker 1 (40:19):
Bro Yeah, I think man, I think, yeah, we that
that person that was at the book signing, that that
wants to be your patient. Yeah, I think we're all
pretty much that that's Mews.
Speaker 3 (40:31):
But I also feel like, why did we get no
scenes of that patient round two that like segues into
it being news.
Speaker 2 (40:37):
I feel like that's another plot threat that had not been.
Speaker 5 (40:42):
Coming up.
Speaker 4 (40:42):
Yeah, I feel like that's Jacob. There might be an
argument for we should have seen it earlier than Yeah.
Speaker 3 (40:48):
Right now, I don't need much, but maybe one scene
of them meeting because we don't even he was just like, hey,
I want to be your patient. She's like, make an appointment.
But we've never even seen you know what I mean?
And I feel like that would have been important to see.
Speaker 4 (41:00):
Yeah, he just made a little more urgent that he
needed help, Like he made it he needed help more urgently.
Speaker 5 (41:05):
But that's about it.
Speaker 1 (41:05):
Yeah, And I think that's right now where I stand
in the season. I think I'm not saying mus has
been mishandled. I'm saying that I I know how dangerous
music is in the comics. Powers are not powers at
that point, you know, and how sadistic he is. They're
not doing a good job, and especially if now we're
(41:26):
really going to get to the point of like, Okay,
now he's really going to be us. The last three episodes,
I get like it's it's about Kingpin's rise to power
and finding out the trouble with being a mayor trying
to go straight, and Matt trying to realize that he can't.
Speaker 6 (41:42):
Yeah, have her hang.
Speaker 1 (41:43):
Up the horns and do the law. Right at that point,
I I get that, but I just I just feel
that right now, mus feels thrown in.
Speaker 4 (41:54):
I just I agree, not for more for plot than
for like the character. So yeah, I and the one
thing I did like about this whole thing so far enough,
Matt and Wilson Fisk are trying to move into different
parts of the life, but they're getting pulled back into
their old lives.
Speaker 1 (42:12):
And which is yeah, which is the point of the show,
but it's it's just something I thought about, so, you know.
And she's also asked about Daredevil, but they're interrupted before
he can answer. Que credits we pack. We picked back
up in fis office, which where he receives a visit
from John Santini, who we actually saw on the previous
(42:34):
episode because he was also a hostage in the bank.
He's he's actually a sanitation worker.
Speaker 2 (42:39):
He did not that I even realize.
Speaker 4 (42:42):
That he's the one who had he talked about having
MESSI puck into first.
Speaker 2 (42:46):
Oh my gosh, I was not paying attention to that.
Speaker 5 (42:50):
Yep.
Speaker 1 (42:50):
So he has some bad news about the murals around
town and he tells the mayor. He launches into a
dedicated explanation, but when asked to get to the point,
because you know, a lot of New York has a
lot of the New Yorkers just want to go on
and on and on about that, he reveals that the
mural is made from human blood.
Speaker 4 (43:07):
Done done, and I love this. So this just evolves
into one of my favorite Kingpin lines from the whole
episode when he tells the chief of police, Yeah, when
sanitation finds these serial killers before cop, maybe we should
change the protocols.
Speaker 5 (43:25):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (43:26):
Yeah, so yeah, he definitely wasn't expecting that.
Speaker 1 (43:31):
And Matt meets with Kirsten and as they're discussing a case,
Angela del Toro drops in wanting to talk to Matt,
and he asks her why she's skipping school. She explains
that she's following up on a mysterious case her uncle
was working on before he was killed. She believes it
ties to the missing person's cases around the city, but
(43:53):
needs Matt to help to investigate. Matt basically tells her
to stay out of trouble, go to school, good good
trying to be a nosy teenager and there's not much
he can do as a lawyer, advising her to leave
it to the police. Angela who knows the police killed
her uncle. Angry storms out, saying she thought Matt cared
that she'll have to take matters in her own hands,
(44:14):
and deflated, Matt looks, I'm saying, yes, someone else, someone
else with a tragic pass. That's going to Donna, superhero Cake,
go go forth, young young, young.
Speaker 4 (44:24):
Wards, steal the ambulance. Steal that ambulance for you.
Speaker 3 (44:28):
That part kind of took me out, because what does
she think a blind not just a lawyer, but a
blind lawyer is going to be able to do about
like these, like all these missing people. I feel like,
you know, sometimes she didn't go to him with the solution.
She went in with a problem, but I didn't even
like I don't know, you know. That part to me
was like I don't know what she expected him to
be able to do. But then I guess she says,
(44:49):
anything you know, do anything you know, quit being.
Speaker 1 (44:52):
A blind lawyer.
Speaker 6 (44:53):
Come on, so we get y, Yeah, we get weak,
we get we.
Speaker 1 (44:58):
Commissioner Gallo showing up, starts to break break down the
case for the mayor fists and estimates that whoever is
painting the murals may have at least sixty victims blood
on these murals, you know, because you know you need
a hobby in life. This zones out for the rest
of the conversation, decides to switch up how New York
is being policed, especially with a serial killer of the
(45:21):
highest caliber, and tells the commissioner, Yeah, we're not gonna
release this to the public because then he's just gonna
go to the ground and we're never gonna see him,
and it'll pop up and then we're back to square one.
He's not necessary, I mean, it's one of those risky things,
like to not put it out there. But as he
kind of calls out the police, well, the sanitation is
doing your work for you. Isn't that a problem?
Speaker 5 (45:44):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (45:44):
I love that line because the guy had nothing to
say back, or really nothing you can say to that.
Speaker 3 (45:50):
I just feel like his character is so milk toast though.
I want, like I want more of a back and
forth between like what was supposed to be a good
police captain and Fisk, but like he just seems so
weak compared to Fisk, you know.
Speaker 4 (46:03):
Which I'm okay with Jake because King Pim made him
that way in a couple of episodes earlier where he
was like, yeah, you don't do what I say. Like,
here's a nice picture of I think it was a
secret family or a secret girlfriend that he had, so
uh yeah, Now he just eats out of the champion's
hand like so many does.
Speaker 1 (46:21):
Yeah, so we'll we'll just have to see on that one.
But hey, guess what, here's mus again. We find a
villain in the middle of the painting of his latest
piece when he's discovered by two fangirls. That's not going
to go down.
Speaker 3 (46:33):
Well, it was so close to being that that panel
from the comic where he actually takes the selfie with them,
which I love. Yeah, like that because that's the thing is,
like MWS has personality. He's like a pretentious art you know, douchebag,
but like he's still kind of vain, And in the
comic he takes the selfie before you know, disposed to them,
(46:55):
And I feel like that part would have given that
part would have been the first time we actually saw
him us had any once of a personality.
Speaker 5 (47:01):
That's true, because he's basically been like a blank wall
so far.
Speaker 1 (47:05):
She's de tld those girls deserved it. Uh actell in
the chat sayings still miss fagging Karen also missed Zara Dawson. Yeah,
you know, we'll have to uh kind of see you.
Speaker 5 (47:18):
Know, does she survived the Netflix snaper or not?
Speaker 1 (47:24):
I know, yeah, exactly. You know, It's just just one
of those things, right. So we uh then head to
the party, where Fist tells Vanessa. Uh, Vanessa, H, I
seemed to be needing a new suit? Would she joined
me for dinner?
Speaker 4 (47:43):
Uh?
Speaker 1 (47:44):
Meeting with Luca and she gives some advice on how
to whine and dine some of New York's elite. We
also find Jack do I can never pronounce his name,
but du Caine there. We Godkine played by Tony Dalton
in the room, and he doesn't seem to be the
biggest fan of Wilson's policies regarding vigilantes. He issues a
warning before heading out that the elite don't care about
(48:07):
his anti vigilante agenda and he needs to keep them
happy or risk losing his power. With one call to
Gracie Manchin. For the uninitiated New York politics, Gracie Mansion
is the home of the Governor of New York, so
he's basically saying, you don't keep us happy, we call
the Governor, you're out. I like it how basically Jack
(48:31):
obviously knows. I think he knows that Wilson Fisk is
considering who he was associated with during Hawkeye, that he
he doesn't scare him. That's pretty interesting at that point.
Speaker 4 (48:44):
Yeah, and I feel like this is gonna come back
around for old sword Mess no Swordsman, sorry, uh And yeah,
I feel like the people that he airns towards the
end of this is gonna have a nice little meeting
with Jack, know.
Speaker 1 (49:00):
Yeah, So I don't know if we're gonna see anymore
of Jack at that episode, and it's just gonna be
you know, i'd say, you know, I do like it
when we're getting him getting fisked into the suit at
that point, he rips his suit because he's getting large,
(49:22):
like Lenny in the airplane.
Speaker 5 (49:24):
Is he putting on more muscle or.
Speaker 6 (49:28):
That pasta and that sausage?
Speaker 3 (49:29):
You know, I would be really happy to see Swordsmen.
But I guess my feeling, my worry about this is
like because the way the show has seemed kind of
like like two different Franken shows mixed together. I could
see one hand Swordsman coming back in a big way
in this season. I could also see him not coming
back the rest of the show, and that was still disappointing.
Speaker 2 (49:51):
And that's what's hard, is.
Speaker 3 (49:52):
That, like, if someone's in one episode, they should have
a purpose and they should come back in a later
episode and the narrative through line should continue.
Speaker 2 (49:59):
I don't. I don't just like these.
Speaker 3 (50:01):
Characters randomly thrown in, like, oh, we guess we could
mix them this character. I want them to have a
narrative purpose.
Speaker 4 (50:07):
Yeah, we don't just need to see them in New
York's elite, Like I'd like to see him doing something
behind the scenes, like he kind of threatened them. But like,
like you said, like at least have a purpose in
this show. Don't just be here for this one parody
and then we won't see you anymore.
Speaker 2 (50:20):
And that's hard to know.
Speaker 1 (50:22):
Yeah, And I think and that's why I tell people
about the show, and we talked about it earlier, like
this is and I think you're the one who said
to Jake, where like a Frankenstein kind of show in
the sense of you got where they were going when
they stopped, where they moved some things together, created new episodes.
Speaker 6 (50:40):
I will tell.
Speaker 1 (50:40):
People that at least we know we're getting a season two.
It is already middle production. Watch out for those set photos, people.
There is already views of some new things that you know,
we won't talk about right now because just in case
there are spoilers for people who aren't in the know.
We now are getting a second season where we're not
worrying that we're not having a strike, We're not having
(51:03):
a changeover in direction. Like so I am looking forward.
I'm not saying I'm not looking forward to the rest
of this season. I'm just saying like, we won't have that.
As you turned to Jake a Frankenstein show, you know.
Speaker 3 (51:14):
I almost feel like this is the first time I've
ever had to be a DC fan about a Marvel
show where I'm like making excuses for it and being like,
just just get through this one. There was a lot
of studio interference. But next one is when it's gonna
be great. My relationship with DC Movies for like ten years,
you know. But I will say that I am still
enjoy this season. I will be a little I will
(51:36):
give less.
Speaker 2 (51:36):
Grace to the next season. I have a little bit
one yeah, for the next season.
Speaker 1 (51:39):
I'm with you on that one.
Speaker 5 (51:40):
I'm with you so I'm not going.
Speaker 4 (51:42):
To match this up against the original Netflix show either,
like I'm just going to judge this on his own
compare the first season to the second season, because you're
not going to capture that magic.
Speaker 5 (51:52):
But they do do some differently.
Speaker 4 (51:53):
We didn't see Daredevil move around in the city or
fight guys with using this billy cup club like he
does here. It's more comical, which I like, actually appreciate
after going through three seasons of gritty Netflix like a
theater Devil fun.
Speaker 3 (52:09):
So absolutely, yeah, and it's way less claustrophobic to it
feels like they have actual sets, like you know what
I mean, Like, not everything's a whole like a hallway
fight seem is cool, but also like why was everything
a skinny hallway in that show?
Speaker 5 (52:23):
Change it again. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (52:25):
So back at Murdoch and McDuffie, Matt meets with Cherry,
who fills him in on the serial killer has been
wrecking habit Crosstown, and he tells him to let it
go and let the police do their jobs because you know,
in the show, the police do their jobs quite well.
Speaker 3 (52:38):
Unfortnate scrape of the episode, he comes in, he gives
them some whiskey, which you know that's not great for
you know, angry Catholics, and he's like angry Irish people.
Speaker 2 (52:46):
He goes, yeah, it's like the biggest serial killer in
the world. It's like sixty plus people. But just don't
do anything. Don't do he totally like he eggs him on.
He basically is like, here's your mask. Here's your mask,
by the way, but just don't be daredevil this. You know,
how is he not going to react to that? You
know what I mean?
Speaker 3 (53:02):
Like that was you know, you have more whiskey, get
a little drunk before you He.
Speaker 4 (53:09):
Kind of goes that way until he gets a call
about the little girl.
Speaker 1 (53:13):
Yeah, so the new mural with the girls from the
earlier has been painted and it takes a direct shot
at the police. Fist decides to use use this to
his advantage and assembles a team of crack pot and
I mend that cracksh I mean, excuse me fro the
instud crack shot hand picked task force that feil that
is full of every bad apple in the force. Gallo
(53:36):
is in disbelief, but is helpless to do anything. As
far as Fist goes to meet with the cops, he
singled out, including Officer Powell and Sergeant Cole North. He
delivers a rousing speech and galvanizes these bad eggs, promising
them full rain over the city, no formal overside, and
telling them to only report to him.
Speaker 2 (53:59):
I like that word rain, full rain.
Speaker 5 (54:03):
I'm happy because this.
Speaker 6 (54:05):
Is the devil's rain, as it were, the.
Speaker 4 (54:07):
Way we're getting Frank coming out, because he's not going
to stay up for this.
Speaker 1 (54:12):
Just we're just waiting for him to say, all right,
Frank's back, baby dude.
Speaker 2 (54:18):
I wanted I can't wait.
Speaker 3 (54:19):
I want I need his reaction to see these like
bad cops with their his simple tattooed on their necks coming.
Speaker 2 (54:25):
I want to see.
Speaker 3 (54:26):
Him like like scalp it off or something, because he
doesn't you know what I mean.
Speaker 2 (54:29):
I wanted to do something about it.
Speaker 1 (54:31):
Yeah, it's it's gonna be pretty epic.
Speaker 3 (54:34):
I was surprised to see Cole North though, because, like
I guess, like I expected to see all like bad
cops and then they give you this one that like
maybe isn't as bad as the other one.
Speaker 2 (54:43):
Yeah, you know what I mean?
Speaker 4 (54:44):
M hm.
Speaker 2 (54:45):
So that was that was a nice, nice, you know,
uh treat.
Speaker 1 (54:50):
Yep So plucky investigating investigator in training? Why tiger and training?
Angela goes into the subways to investigate because that's never
going to be. That's just asking for it. Have you
never seen horrible.
Speaker 4 (55:00):
Middle like middle of the night the daytime instead of
going to school.
Speaker 1 (55:04):
No, yep, nope, and instead gets captured by Mused very quickly.
He wastes no time either and starts to drain Angela
of her blood with those crazy bug out eyes that
he's got, and so the clock is ticking. Her aunt,
Sola Dead calls Matt and is gravely concerned because she
hasn't gone home, and he then responds by first calling
(55:25):
nine to one one and after a moment says e
f itt and goes into and dons the the The
Devil of Hell's Kitchen is back.
Speaker 6 (55:36):
Axel's got a little bit of issues.
Speaker 1 (55:38):
And it felt weird seeing mac Batten's suit again in
episode six because he hasn't worn it since the first
episode and.
Speaker 6 (55:43):
Just jumps in.
Speaker 1 (55:45):
I was I got, I got really pumped seeing him
down the suit again, but I just didn't like the
shot that was done with him jumping out. It just
felt I don't know, it just I liked it, but
it's just like it. I just wanted something a little
more epic with it. It was just it was good.
I'm not I'm not trying to be like it was
a bit. It's just like the way I think it
(56:07):
was this way it was shot. I just didn't like
the way it was shot. I don't know, something just
felt off.
Speaker 3 (56:13):
I felt a little cheated that he just said fit.
And then the next seed he's already swinging with it on.
Like I wanted to see like him, I don't. I
wanted to see him suit up.
Speaker 2 (56:22):
I guess like that does. It's been yeah, it's been
like six episodes.
Speaker 3 (56:27):
I wanted to see him like going in there, like
grabbing the mask and going no, like looking at Foggy's
picture and going no, I can't do it, and then
like I wanted to see like turmoil.
Speaker 2 (56:36):
He just seemed like he made the decision instantly.
Speaker 3 (56:39):
I wanted, you know, this is such a huge decision,
and I don't know if it was given the way
it needed.
Speaker 4 (56:44):
I was okay with it because of the particular circumstances
of her being missing and him fearing because he was
doing researched that night into the missing people. The Q
Train or whatever, q rail, whatever it was called.
Speaker 1 (56:57):
And I enjoyed me the Sea train yet sound you're
hearing it's the Sea Train.
Speaker 4 (57:03):
I enjoyed the shot, Chris. I thought it was a
nice It was like a flying Superman punch. No, it
was a little bit I feel like on the game
hit the spot there of what you might be seeing
is I felt it was a little cg Yeah, for
what we've seen from this Daredevil in the previous three seasons,
Like we're not trying to compare it to Marable Netflix,
but when you're coming from that base.
Speaker 6 (57:22):
Of yeah, all of a sudden, coming out of nowhere
and bam.
Speaker 4 (57:25):
It just flies and then like yeah, it takes a
second for it to josts back to your hand in
hand combat, that kind of looks like there's nothing done
with it.
Speaker 5 (57:33):
Just said yes.
Speaker 1 (57:35):
So while Murdock's down in the tunnels trying to find
Angela take in finding mus Wilson pays Adam a visit
and this time bringing an axe with him, saying, We're
going to challenge you to a brutal fly with X.
Speaker 6 (57:46):
Here's the ax, here's the thing. Let's see if you
can take me.
Speaker 1 (57:48):
On, and uh, you get the juxtaposition going back and
forth between Matt fighting Muse and Fist fighting Adam, and
you know, you know, after assessing that Angela is still alive,
Daredevil begins to unleash a fury on mus and he
(58:09):
turns out to be a competent fighter himself, and they
exchange a blow after blow and ample blood spilled. But
just as daredevils about to delivering the finishing blow, he
sends his Angela's heart rates getting low. He goes and
rushes to save her, leaving MWS a chance to escape.
Speaker 6 (58:24):
Now, what did you think of that?
Speaker 1 (58:25):
I thought that was kind of a cool little shot
when he kind of awakens in the camera, kind of
you know, does that kind of trick shot where you
make me think you're upside down his right side up.
I thought it was a cool shot.
Speaker 5 (58:36):
So there's some cool shots in this fight making creepy.
Speaker 4 (58:38):
Did enjoy the whole duality of Fisk and Matt at
the same time, and Matt stopping his fighting rampage to
save someone, whereas Fists basically just bodied the guy into oblivion.
Speaker 1 (58:51):
Adam, I have an idea for us to fight.
Speaker 4 (58:56):
Did anyone think that he's going to chop off his
hands because I honestly for a moment, but because hand.
Speaker 6 (59:02):
Taking that fact in fiction a little furiously.
Speaker 4 (59:04):
This is a little bit too much, really honestly, because
he talked about hands a couple of times, and she,
like Vanessa, talked at his hands. And I was like, this, dude,
when he walked up to act my first house, he's
going to chop off his hands. He's going to chop
off his hands and let him go.
Speaker 3 (59:18):
My thought was what weapon would I need to be
given to beat Kingpin in a fight?
Speaker 2 (59:22):
And I couldn't think of what weapon. I don't think
there's a weapon out there. Yeah yeah, right, seriously, yeah,
even an axe. It's nowhere near a fair fight.
Speaker 5 (59:34):
Tried to run away or something.
Speaker 6 (59:36):
I'll tell you what. I'll tell you how you defeat fist.
Speaker 1 (59:38):
Vanessa snap ye. So Angela sees Matt as she he
was able to h get get her back to the
land of the Living and murder CONFLI sir, assuring her
that she'll be okay, while also we're referring it that
you know Matt's back in the Daredevil. This isn't a
(59:59):
one time thing.
Speaker 2 (01:00:00):
Is it wrong that there was a small part of
me that was hoping that.
Speaker 3 (01:00:04):
This sounds so dark if you've read the Charles soul run,
I wanted her to be like a pseudo blind Spot
and like get blinded.
Speaker 2 (01:00:11):
In the fight.
Speaker 3 (01:00:12):
But then I thought that was super dark for that
I wish that, and I was like, I shouldn't share
that with anybody, So I waited till I was on
a podcast.
Speaker 6 (01:00:18):
To talk about.
Speaker 1 (01:00:21):
Use our show to express your dark thoughts along with
gutter mutants.
Speaker 5 (01:00:25):
Yeah so, but.
Speaker 1 (01:00:28):
But yeah, So we leave off with that episode. So
this is the last, and for my own sanity's sake,
the last time we have two episodes. I feel sorry
for all of us who are going to be watching
and Or in the next couple of weeks because those
are three episode darks.
Speaker 2 (01:00:44):
I'm not mad. I loved Or. And Or was my
favorite star.
Speaker 1 (01:00:47):
I loved it too.
Speaker 6 (01:00:47):
It's just like, I'm just glad.
Speaker 1 (01:00:49):
I feel for our brethren and sisterhood over at Star
Wars Alliance. You've got to do this for a series
of weeks. I complained about two episodes back to back.
I mean, I love content, but I'm happy to be
one episode a week for the next couple of weeks.
Speaker 4 (01:01:05):
So it's nice that there's just one show at a
time at the moment, Like there was points in time
where was your friendly neighborhood Spider Man and Invincible and
this show was all kicking around at the same time.
So it's nice that it's just one show at the moment.
Speaker 5 (01:01:18):
Anyway.
Speaker 1 (01:01:19):
Yeah, so, but would you all think of this one
in comparison? This one ranked higher the last episode overall up.
Speaker 3 (01:01:26):
For me, from the last one, I definitely felt like
this was my favorite of what I would consider the
post overhaul episodes, you know what I mean. It felt
more consistent than some of the previous previous ones, and
it was rad I just I just wish that we
could see a little more personality from us.
Speaker 2 (01:01:45):
I guess that was my big thing.
Speaker 3 (01:01:46):
And I wish we would have seen a little more
I maybe Matt shooting up, so it felt a little
more earned, I guess, like because it felt like it's
such a momentum, momentous thing that we've been building up
to and then it just happened, you know.
Speaker 5 (01:01:58):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:01:59):
But other than that, I.
Speaker 1 (01:02:00):
Axel saying, what's it with guys with the name Wilson
having a girlfriend named Vanessa? First Kingpin and Deadpool. Yeah,
good point. So all right, Well, next week, obviously we
have episode eight, so we're heading towards the end. Three
weeks left, last three episodes and I uh, excuse me
not episode eight, Episode seven, eight nine coming up, so
(01:02:22):
we'll be on lookout for that. So we're going to
take our next ad break before we get into the
a single new news item. But the news item we
did not see coming this week, so we're going to
take our ad break now. So listeners, as you know,
these ads help keep the lights on the Gee Ultimate
Aliance Network. We don't get a choose what ads come on,
and they could be a bit loud, so turn that
volume down before they come on. Three two one. We'll
(01:02:43):
be right back and we are back, all right. So
Travis Snell occasionally shares with me some news that he
doesn't share with me in the in the gua chat
because some certain things, some people are certain verse to
certain things at that point, and shared with me some
information that he saw from someone else saying that they
(01:03:06):
had received where debt something big was coming on Wednesday. Now,
we would probably rank this as a and it wasn't
a normal scooper that usually we're familiar with but rank
it as kind of a sea tier Scooper, but something
big was coming Wednesday, and theories are starting to throw
around all around at that point, Well, something big did
(01:03:27):
drop at that point for over five hours. It dropped
at that point that the official Marvel page spent five
and a half hours live stream to reveal the first
I don't even know if it's half the cast, a
good chunk at the cast, but twenty six cast members
were revealed of who would be joining because production is starting.
(01:03:50):
Production is starting, not shooting, but production has officially started
on Avengers Doom stage. So in order to get ahead
of any kind of Scooper madness leaks everything, they're going
to put out these ones because probably at this point
when they do start shooting, a number of these people
will be seen. So going through the mix of casts
at this point, what we do who was not right
(01:04:12):
now there was not confirmed as Tom Holland and Chris Evans,
but the cast that was announced includes Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hitdleston,
Anthony Mackie, Paul Rudd, which was seen with a little
chair so as they for those that didn't watch it,
you saw every basically fifteen minutes a new actors chair
(01:04:33):
would be coming out and on the back with the
name of the actor. At that point, that, like I said,
went on for five hours. So Paul Rudd, Letitia Wright,
Simil lu Danny Ramirez in Winston Duke what I kind
of seemed to be the current kind of main stays
of the MCU. The cast of the upcoming Thunderbolts asterisks
(01:04:55):
were also represented with Sebastian Stan Florence Pew Pew Boys Unit,
Why Russell, David Harber, Hannah John Carmen who plays Ghost,
and Lewis Pullman, which now is we simply know is
Bob but we all know he is. Century also getting
chairs in which people got a little but hurt about that.
Speaker 5 (01:05:14):
Oh they ruined the movie.
Speaker 6 (01:05:15):
That means they're gonna.
Speaker 1 (01:05:16):
Lieve I said, stop stop being fake. Heard about that, guys,
you're gonna still see the movie. You're still gonna if
they're being honest.
Speaker 3 (01:05:22):
For all we know, one of those characters could die
and they're just messing with us.
Speaker 6 (01:05:25):
You know, Oh we know one of those characters dies.
Speaker 1 (01:05:27):
It's the only member of the Thunderbolts cast that hasn't
been named in a new TV spots has been somehow
re edited out.
Speaker 6 (01:05:35):
So I'm not gonna reveal who that is.
Speaker 1 (01:05:38):
But if you've been paying attention to Marvel lines and
you've been paying attention to other things, there's one character
that is knowingly maps and from this.
Speaker 4 (01:05:45):
And we've even the villain, even the villain is not
absent from this exactly.
Speaker 6 (01:05:52):
The casts are then started revering.
Speaker 1 (01:05:54):
This is when it started getting exciting, of like who
is coming back from uh the the the prior Marvel's
episode Marvel Projects. We get Patrick Stewart, Professor Exit returning
as as Travis Nell said in the chat to die
for the fifth time. Uh so, Professor x Ian McKellen, Magneto,
(01:06:17):
James Marsden Cyclops who will be wrong yet again, and
Rebecca Romaine who played miss Is the original Mystique. Uh
So we got a number of these. They will also
be joined by Alan Coming who played night Crawler and
Kelsey Grammer, who was officially returning after the post credit scene.
Speaker 6 (01:06:33):
To redon his role of Beast.
Speaker 1 (01:06:37):
We also get who He's gonna make a name for
himself again, Channing Tatum returning to the role of Gambit.
So wow, those those were that and what people kind
of forgot about, but the entire fantastic forecast is or
was there as well.
Speaker 6 (01:06:55):
And including including a surprise.
Speaker 1 (01:06:57):
This was one of the first names, UH to know
where to mayhow who portrayed nay More in Black Panther,
is also part of it as well. Pedro Pascal was
the last chair before another chair was revealed, with the
man who has been walking down the line sitting down.
That will be Robert Downey Junior doctor Doom himself, UH
(01:07:19):
sitting down, putting his mouth and then Avengers Doomsday in
production now and so, as the Hollywood Reporter had put out, UH,
their sources tell them that even though with twenty six
actors announced, Marvel is not done with the cast, although
when and where unveiling the new cast remains unclear. I
(01:07:42):
will be amongst others saying the next cast will probably
be announced at Comic Con, of which Marvel Studios will
be a part of Comic Con and DC Studios will
be piecing out again for the second year in a row,
so we show exactly so I think they're holding that
off or in case as they our brethren at geek
(01:08:04):
Versus said, if Thunderbolts ASTERIX does not go well, you
could always put it out then, but I think they're
saving that next announcement for Comic Con because you got
to go big on that one, right, you know, Doctor Doom.
So turn it over to YouTube. What did you think
of these announcements?
Speaker 4 (01:08:20):
Did?
Speaker 1 (01:08:21):
First of the announcements before we talk about the gimmick
that they did, So what do you think of the announcements?
Speaker 2 (01:08:28):
I was excited to see og x men stuff.
Speaker 3 (01:08:31):
I felt like it would have been so wild and
so bold if we saw a mixture of like og
x men and then like first class prequel X men stuff,
like get super weird with it. I was so excited.
Never I mean, I loved chaining Tatum in Deadpool, but
I didn't think we would see him back so soon,
you know what I mean. So that one was super
exciting for me. I feel like what they did was fun.
(01:08:54):
But there's no way Robert and Junior was there for
five hours slowly walking down right. He popped in for
ten minutes at the end, you know, I don't know.
I feel like he's too busy for that. But yeah,
that was a fun way to do it. I I
feel like I would have watched for fifteen minutes and
then been like, Okay, I'm going to read an article
after it's done.
Speaker 2 (01:09:10):
You know, I didn't have I think I have five
hours in me to watch that.
Speaker 4 (01:09:15):
Yeah, basically the same thing here, Jake. I. This was
sharing our gua chat. I clicked out at the first
one I think was Anthony mackew that I saw on there,
and then it changed to and I was like, okay,
so this is what we're doing semester standup change suit.
I stopped watching it, but like all the numbers are
on the game we're posting in the chat.
Speaker 5 (01:09:34):
It seemed to be successful.
Speaker 4 (01:09:35):
Anyone who watched this, If you wanted to put it
on during work, more power to you.
Speaker 5 (01:09:39):
There was Avenger music.
Speaker 4 (01:09:40):
At one point I thought it was a whole I thought, like,
way to wastelot your time to sit there to watch that,
like if you didn't have anything else to do.
Speaker 5 (01:09:49):
But again, it.
Speaker 4 (01:09:51):
Got the job done. It got the word out, and
this was trending all over social media yesterday, So.
Speaker 1 (01:09:57):
Yeah, it I enjoyed it. Like some of these ones
we've been talking about for a while, I think I
was more curious to see who not from the MCU
was doing it.
Speaker 6 (01:10:08):
There.
Speaker 1 (01:10:08):
There were a few characters and actors and actresses that.
Speaker 6 (01:10:13):
I was like, oh, is it going to be them?
Speaker 1 (01:10:15):
At that point it made me happy and saying, Okay,
there may be more coming and they're probably saving some
of the real surprises for.
Speaker 6 (01:10:22):
The next announcement.
Speaker 1 (01:10:24):
It was nice to get fish a confirmation about like
you said, the Fox X Men stars seeing Chanditatum was
returned with a little bit not I wouldn't say surprising.
I knew I had confidence that he'd be at least
returning in for Secret Wars.
Speaker 4 (01:10:37):
That Lommings was the one that shocked me the most,
to be honest with you, and I could not be
more happy because that is one of the best openings
of a comic book film. Is like that scene where
he goes into white House is fantastic.
Speaker 5 (01:10:49):
Yep.
Speaker 1 (01:10:49):
And I would say this people can complain about, Oh,
it's marvel, what a weak way to do it again,
as All in the Game is posted two hundred and
seventy million days digital views, three point one million social mentions,
began at eight eight amps standard time, lasted five hours
twenty seven minutes. The number is also more than five
(01:11:10):
times of social media volume for Dead Pull Wolverine Super
Bowl trailer currently the most view trailer from last year.
I mean it was simple that was put live on
their channel. They controlled the narrative. They knew and understand
that probably next week Superman's going to dominate. If rumors
are to be believed that we're going to get our
(01:11:31):
first full trailer of Superman next week, why not own
the rest of the week, the rest of the discussion. Yeah,
you can complain all you want. You can say the
MCU is dead, which is the biggest joke in the world.
At that point, they won it dominated the conversation. I
say kudos to them for you know, people sometimes say, oh.
Speaker 6 (01:11:51):
We got to go big, way o big.
Speaker 1 (01:11:52):
Marvel just proved you could literally control the conversation for
five hours. Was simply every fifteen minutes revealing a new chair.
Speaker 4 (01:12:00):
Yes, and again, this is the events, Chris, and this
is like you might not look at you don't have
to watch it, but I'm sure you'll watch the film.
And again, if people want to gather and talk about
this and get excited about the people afterwards, don't be
a negative Nelly slash rain cloud and just poopoo on it.
If you didn't enjoy it, just let them have their
fun and celebrate it. If this is awesome, we get
(01:12:22):
more of the comic book films and I can't wait
for these, Like I'm just so curious what the what
they're going to do with Robert de Junr as doctor Dude.
Speaker 5 (01:12:30):
I can't wait.
Speaker 1 (01:12:32):
Yeah, what about you, Jake? Do you you being a
social media kind of person in a sense of well,
you know, with YouTube, trying to always make sure you
have a balance between you know, again you know, click
baity versus you know, trying to get the bring the
views in for genuine stuff. There you know, there is
a bounce and you know I talked about that before.
Speaker 3 (01:12:52):
I think it was really fun because it's like the
joke is like, yeah, it could have been an email,
you know what I mean, Like it could have been
like just an announcement, but they made it like a
fun event and like it caused excitement because then you
could be like you could check maybe then you watch
the whole five hours, but you checked in every twelve
minutes or something, you know what I mean, or you know,
And it slowly built anticipation on who was going to
(01:13:15):
be the next especial when they got with the crazy ones,
who was going to be the next one, you know
what I mean. So I feel like that was that
was fun. You know, it just made it fun. And
that's the thing is, like it made it feel fun
as opposed to kind of just like feeling like it
was like the next iteration of the mc U saga.
It was like a fun event again, which is what
I think we've been missing a little bit.
Speaker 5 (01:13:35):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:13:36):
Yeah, We've talked about many times. One of the biggest
problems with these this this three phases has been that
none of these phases until now has ended with an
Avengers movie. And we still don't know who the Avengers are.
Speaker 5 (01:13:50):
There is no Avengers a present moment, so.
Speaker 6 (01:13:53):
Oh no, there is. There is.
Speaker 1 (01:13:54):
We have thunderbolts because as the asterisk says, it's when
the Avengers aren't available.
Speaker 6 (01:14:01):
So yep, exactly.
Speaker 1 (01:14:03):
So all right, well that is all the news that
is fit to print this week. So let us get
into our listener questions and uh so we've got two
questions this week. We got one question in one kind
of comment. First from ever loyal Omari Daniels. Do you
think that Marvel should have waited until Comic Con to
(01:14:25):
make the doomsday announcements? So that they could have another
big haul h moment. But I don't know if you
saw the news at that point there Amari at that,
but you may have not. And so knowing that this
isn't the end of the announcements if the sources or
(01:14:45):
Hollywood reporter are to be believed, which again I will,
I will say that they are not necessary super madness,
but they are trade they have a good record of it.
Speaker 4 (01:14:54):
They Robert Danny Junior on Instagram posted something align with
them Marvel Channel talking about more reveals to come to.
Speaker 1 (01:15:02):
Heay, you're saying, how about some more Yeah, so so
Marvel's basically said at that point that Mora will be coming,
but didn't say when, didn't say anything like that.
Speaker 6 (01:15:14):
But you want to keep it in the fite guys.
Speaker 1 (01:15:18):
And again I'm really convinced in fact that it's going
into production. They haven't started shooting yet, they just started production.
They want to just they wanted to control the narrative
before Scooper's got ahold of this, So I understand in
this day and age they want to do it.
Speaker 4 (01:15:32):
So I also hope they can have some secret people
that they don't have to reveal, like the same thing
as they pulling Wolfverine, where they really hide some of
these people and throw a fake people that were going
to show up. So I hope that they're able to
keep some secrets and won't have to reveal every person
that's going to show up, especially og people.
Speaker 5 (01:15:51):
I hope some of those can remain secret.
Speaker 1 (01:15:53):
Yeah, what do you think about that, Jake?
Speaker 3 (01:15:55):
So I felt like for a while as a viewer,
I got really excited hearing people fan cash who was
going to be in movies and who wasn't going to
be in movies, And I feel like that reached a
fervor with Deadpool and Wolverine, and that was the first
time I watched a movie and instead of just being
stoked about everything that was there, I almost felt disappointed
(01:16:16):
that there was so much that was supposedly gonna be
in the movie that wasn't. And I almost feel like
this was a better way to do it, because even
if they don't announce anybody new by Comic Con, which
I think there will be crazy announcements, now they can
have everybody as many people from those chairs there at
hall h and then they actually get to talk about
things and you know what I mean, and have fun
or they get a build anticipation, have people wonder until
(01:16:37):
Comic Con, who else have.
Speaker 2 (01:16:39):
They not revealed? You know what I mean?
Speaker 3 (01:16:41):
And I feel like that's a great way to control
the narrative a little bit because they want to just
they want you to be thinking about slowly in the
back of your head, how are they going to top this?
Because this is their first announcement, for real announcement. There's
no way this is the biggest announcement they're ever gonna make.
Speaker 4 (01:16:55):
You know. Yeah, I'm also here for all the funny memes.
There was one here and page with a gun, so yeah,
I'm here for some of the fun.
Speaker 1 (01:17:05):
That domstay Doomsday is crossing over and yeah, you know so,
but yeah, so that's that's a listed sense. And then
Anthony Dorsey saying that not a question, but I feel
like I can call premature victory by saying that Hugh
Jackman and Ryan Renolds wouldn't be in this movie. It's
not done yet, and it may be one of those,
(01:17:27):
and it's one of those that I still say that
post credits for.
Speaker 6 (01:17:34):
Doomsday could easily have those two show back up.
Speaker 1 (01:17:36):
I would not put it past them that that is
that is part of the post credits.
Speaker 3 (01:17:41):
If you could only have one of them in it,
who would you want Hugh or Ryan if you could
only have one.
Speaker 2 (01:17:45):
I feel like that's a fun question.
Speaker 3 (01:17:46):
You Yeah, seeing you interact with his old friends, I
feel like that's crazy to think I'd choose Wolverine over Deadpool.
Speaker 2 (01:17:53):
But if it's more, I think.
Speaker 1 (01:17:56):
He's he's on the Mount rushmore of what mar of
some of the best or a casting that Marvel has
done in his history.
Speaker 5 (01:18:02):
Of comic book character's history.
Speaker 1 (01:18:05):
So but all right, well let's head into fact or fiction.
Here are the ones from last week. Muse will take
someone's eyesight in Dared Devil Born again the same way
he did in the comics. Sixty nine percent said fact,
thirty one percent said fiction. Let's say to you to that, Jake,
would you call that a factor of fiction?
Speaker 6 (01:18:26):
Is that going to happen later in the show.
Speaker 3 (01:18:30):
There's no way we're not, you know what I mean.
I feel like he's got to blind someone or I'm
just rooting for it because I'm a sick person.
Speaker 1 (01:18:38):
Yeah, well, you know you said it.
Speaker 2 (01:18:42):
I think I said it earlier that I want you
to take some minds.
Speaker 1 (01:18:46):
Factor fiction number two, the Punisher special will be directly
will directly will be directly led from the events of
Dreedavil Born again one hundred percent in fact, what about you?
What about you all? What do you say? Fact fact?
Speaker 3 (01:19:02):
I hope it's led by this show, but I hope
it's its own thing that, like you can enjoy on
its own without having to like you know what I mean,
be like so tied to Daredevil.
Speaker 4 (01:19:11):
I feel like you could do that with the with
the Cops and also start a new season or new
special that and re explain really quickly to catch people
up that haven't seen Daredevil as well.
Speaker 5 (01:19:22):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:19:23):
So, And finally, Fisk will take Adam's hand and present
them as a gift to Vanessa. Third sixty four said
fact thirty six percent in fiction, see not ever near
not the only people that are sick out there, you know?
I so all right, Travis, as always, what are your
(01:19:43):
factor of fictions for this week?
Speaker 5 (01:19:46):
Okay, we got a couple here.
Speaker 4 (01:19:47):
I had to have an extra one just in case,
I said, one that's already benefactor of fiction. Yeah, Matt
Murdoch will share the screen with Camilla Khan in the future.
Speaker 2 (01:19:59):
I feel like it, but I don't know if it would.
Speaker 3 (01:20:03):
I don't know if it would be Daredevil meeting Miss
Marvel or if.
Speaker 5 (01:20:06):
It was.
Speaker 4 (01:20:08):
Yeah, yeah, they invited him over for supper. That's kind
of why I yeah, I use that one.
Speaker 1 (01:20:14):
Yeah, I mean it's possible, but.
Speaker 6 (01:20:19):
I would I would like it to happen.
Speaker 1 (01:20:21):
I I think I'm a fiction, but it's not a
strong fiction.
Speaker 5 (01:20:24):
Okay, give it.
Speaker 2 (01:20:24):
Give it to me as an end credit scene.
Speaker 3 (01:20:26):
It can be a Miss Marvel show or movie or something,
and the end credit scene is Matt Murdock comes over
for dinner and like that, that's all it has to be.
Speaker 1 (01:20:32):
Like we're having twarma. They can have florma too, you know,
call back to the Avengers. They happened some tuarma.
Speaker 4 (01:20:38):
So I don't know if this one's been used, but
yet Foggy is still alive.
Speaker 2 (01:20:45):
Can my brain and heart have different votes?
Speaker 5 (01:20:47):
Yeah, we don't.
Speaker 1 (01:20:50):
We struggle with that a lot of.
Speaker 4 (01:20:52):
You got to pick one of those, but you can
have two votes.
Speaker 3 (01:20:55):
I think it would make my marriage better if he
comes back, because my wife, she's the one person that
likes Foggy more than Matt, I feel like, and she
like broke into tears, like when that happened to Foggy.
So yeah, I feel like, I mean, at the very least,
we're getting Foggy and flashbacks. But I really hope Foggy
is alive, like we've seen it before in the in
(01:21:16):
the comics.
Speaker 1 (01:21:17):
Brent in the chat, Hello Brent, Yes, Foggy is alive.
Matt h saying zombie Foggy has Brent said the Secret
Life of Foggy Neilson. Yeah, we're probably gonna get an
episode like that. I don't put it past him. So, yeah,
Foggy is alive.
Speaker 4 (01:21:37):
They left too many break comes for that. I just
thought it might have been used already.
Speaker 1 (01:21:41):
It might have been I can't remember. Someone's probably gonna
say something.
Speaker 4 (01:21:44):
But whatever, Jack Swordsman will be killed or captured by
the new anti vigilante.
Speaker 2 (01:21:51):
Oh why does that make so much sense?
Speaker 4 (01:21:54):
Yeah, don't threaten King Finning.
Speaker 1 (01:21:57):
With a good time with an axe and Adam.
Speaker 3 (01:22:00):
Isn't there some other vigilante that I care about less?
Like I love that actor, like they had to show.
Speaker 4 (01:22:05):
Him too, and I'm like, oh, no, you're done, You're done.
Speaker 5 (01:22:08):
This is not good for you.
Speaker 4 (01:22:10):
Now you're standing up the king Finder's like laying the
bread crumbs up him being killed or capture.
Speaker 3 (01:22:16):
There does need to be a vigilante that shows that
kings Finn's task force means business and why does that
make so much like he'd have to take out a
couple of them on the way, But like.
Speaker 5 (01:22:25):
I don't want these to be facts.
Speaker 1 (01:22:27):
Yeah, yeah, he don't think that the funny should have
taken out for instead, dang Travis harsh Ah. Yeah, I
honestly will say, I do not think we're going to
see him again. I don't.
Speaker 4 (01:22:43):
I don't want my factor of fiction to be right,
so I hope that you're you're right it out. I
don't want to see him die. He's too cool of
the customer.
Speaker 1 (01:22:49):
And I think if hair got bigger too, like I
think whatever deflect bullets.
Speaker 3 (01:22:55):
I know what I have to say is that if
you asked me before this podcast, like do you hope
Swordsmen show like doesn't show back up again, I would
have said no, I want him back on the show,
But after your factor of fiction, I'd rather not see
him than he stay alive.
Speaker 4 (01:23:08):
The whole showdown with Kingpin made me think about it,
and I added an extra one Chris because of the
whole news side of things, halle Berry's Storm will be
named as another character in Avengers Doomsday.
Speaker 6 (01:23:21):
Yeah, I'd say that.
Speaker 1 (01:23:22):
I'd say that has the strong things that have happened.
So I'm a fact on that. I think that could
be a secret cameo. We they don't reveal. What about you, Jake?
Do you think Hali Bearr Is coming back and being
Storm again?
Speaker 3 (01:23:32):
If they come back, I hope they let what wasn't
there like a story about where they like screwed up
her dialogue and like they misled her when she first
joined on.
Speaker 4 (01:23:39):
I hope they just treat a script she comes back.
Speaker 5 (01:23:45):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:23:45):
Matt Vaughan found it who was supposed to direct that
movie and said, what is this is? Oh, this is
the one we sold Halle bear arown. Don't worry, it's
all changing. He said, you did what I quit. Yeah,
and that's how we didn't have him direct that movie.
Speaker 5 (01:23:57):
We get Brian Singer.
Speaker 1 (01:24:00):
Yeah, we got Brian Singer, which uh yeah, yeah exactly.
Oh and that's as much as we're going to talk
about that. But yeah, so we will post those on Sunday,
so let your voices be heard with that. And like
I said, since David is not here, we are taking
a break from compook Club next week again for those listeners,
(01:24:22):
including you a fifth Jack, I know you've already said
you've done your homework, but we will be looking at
the arc, continuing our dive into Charlestow's run. The arc
we're looking at is issues five ninety five to six
hundred the Illustrious Mayor Fisk Arcs. Will be breaking down
those those issues at that point, but come to the
(01:24:42):
end of the episode, but make sure you stay tuned
for a post credits discussion. Listeners were there was a
news item that was going to be a news item
for us, but got quickly booted after the casting news
got started. So, but first I want to thank you
both gentlemen at that point, Travis for coming back and
coasting with me and Jay. Now you can stop saying
you've not been invited, and as I kept telling you,
(01:25:05):
you just have to tell me which episode you want
to tell on and you are invited.
Speaker 2 (01:25:10):
Well this was fun, guys, Thank you so much for
having me. You know, this was a blast.
Speaker 6 (01:25:14):
Yeah, plug your channel.

we'll get you started, and you'll find someone that knows
more about comics than me down the line.
Speaker 2 (01:25:33):

Speaker 1 (01:25:35):

give it a follow. And Travis tell people they can
follow you. And thank you for jumping on.

Speaker 6 (01:27:28):
All right.
Speaker 1 (01:27:28):
Post credits discussion, guys, we had this is in the rumor,
mel This is not necessarily proven. Yes, but it's coming
from Nexus Point News saying that we have the Marvel
Studios has selected the writer for the Champions series aka
Young Avengers. Next to the Point News can exclusively report
(01:27:52):
that Rasha Fotbom is set to write Champions, a TV
series and early development at Marvel Studios. She will presumably
show run and executive producer series as well. This is
following the report by a Pop Horseman that a series
centered around Marvel's younger heroes is being developed under the
title of Champions. Now, this has been something that we
(01:28:12):
have gone back and forth on this show about will
they title they will will they title at Young Avengers?
Will they title it Champions? The project centered around these
these younger heroes will more than likely bring about some
of the younger characters we've already seen Cassie Lang, Kamala Kahan, Kate, Bishop, Kid, Loki, Eli,
(01:28:34):
Bradley Reaby, Williams, America Chavez, and Billy Maximov. Young Avengers
first debut in a self title in two thousand and five,
created by Alan Heinberg and Jim Chung. The team at
the team has had a consistent kept the consistent lineup
of Iron lad wiccan Hulkling, Hawkeye, Stature, Speed, and Patriot
until it's relaunch in twenty twelve. Given the current state
(01:28:57):
of the characters at MCU, this series will likely be
pulling from them from both teams, and I'm trying to
differentiate itself.
Speaker 6 (01:29:03):
So this writer is currently the writing.
Speaker 1 (01:29:08):
And executive producing Season three of Apple TV plus is Shrinking,
So so she is currently she is currently working on
that upcoming season.
Speaker 6 (01:29:17):
She has also.
Speaker 1 (01:29:17):
Served as co executive producer and writer on and Just
Like That and Fresh off the Boat. She began her
career on NBC's Parks and Recreations, So that show. So yeah,
so definitely some some pedigree behind this has got some
great experience. So you know, Jake and I love Shrinking.
I can't remember, Travis, have you ever watch Drinking yet?
Speaker 5 (01:29:38):
No? I haven't.
Speaker 4 (01:29:38):
I haven't on the list.
Speaker 1 (01:29:40):
Gotcha, it's on the list. So, so what do y'all
think about this? They are now saying Young Avengers is
not going to be the title. This is going to
be entitled Champions.
Speaker 2 (01:29:51):
I don't buy it.
Speaker 3 (01:29:52):
I feel like there's no I feel like Champions would
be the working title. But to be able to call
the show Young Avengers, the pedigree that gives that show
and the buy in that let's regular people know that
show like this is, you know, with the name Avengers.
I feel like I can't imagine them going Champions because
do you go to a regular person that doesn't read
the comics young? I feel like, would you rather watch
show about a team called the Champions or a team
(01:30:13):
called Young Avengers. I feel like Young Avengers would be
way more popular, but I don't know if I buy it.
Speaker 4 (01:30:19):
This is where I'll offer an other side to this.
I agree with Jake too though, that it would be
easier for people to identify with Young Avengers. I feel
like they would say Avengers titles for the movies for
the big box office and to get.
Speaker 5 (01:30:33):
People in there.
Speaker 4 (01:30:34):
If this is going to be at Disney Plus, I
think they might go with Champions. But if this was
a film, I could easily see see them doing Young
Avengers just to try to get more people in through
the door.
Speaker 2 (01:30:43):
Got it.
Speaker 3 (01:30:44):
So it's not that the Avenger's name would obviously help
the pedigree of the show, but is it worth not tarnishing?
Speaker 2 (01:30:49):
But is it worth lowering the pedigree of Avengers?
Speaker 5 (01:30:53):
Yeah? Know what I mean by thought there?
Speaker 1 (01:30:55):
And We've been going back and forth on this with Brenton, I, David,
you know, Travis Snell about like where would a Young
Avengers slash Champions be more effective? Can they carry a
movie or is it better other show. I've been the
one saying, yeah, a show's probably a better wait for it,
there's the lower risk value, especially with all these younger
(01:31:17):
stars that are even sometimes newer stars, the the the
paiday you necessarily the paychecks are going to be a
lot lower for that at that point. Outside of like
you know, you've got Hailey Steinfeld, you got Aman Balani.
Some of them just are probably gonna be your higher
(01:31:38):
paid ones. I'm okay with it being Champions. I would
let I understand like the brand value of Avengers what
you're saying with that, I think they could make it
kind of a fun kind of opening teaser when they're
being called Young Avengers, so it's not necessarily and saying no, no, no,
we're not Young Avengers. We're chanting, you know, kind of
play off that idea, Like I don't think you're not
(01:31:58):
gonna hear that term be them called the Young Avengers,
but I understand why to kind of distinguish itself. But again,
like with everything, they could eventually say, you know, we
are going to do Champion, we are going to do
Young Avengers.
Speaker 6 (01:32:10):
So wait and see.
Speaker 1 (01:32:11):
I'm you know again, this is rumor, this is not
officially released. This is you know. I would say next
to the point, news is sea level maybe sometimes C
plus level at that point. But they have broken some
things that have come true. But again we talk about
it at this point because you know, I would like
(01:32:32):
to see a Young Avengers or Champions at that point.
Matt h saying, discount Avengers, Jake, would you call these
gutter Avengers at all?
Speaker 3 (01:32:41):
Oh no, I would never never call my my, my love, Hailey, Steinfelder,
Gut or anything.
Speaker 2 (01:32:47):
But the rest of them they can be gutter Avengers.
Speaker 1 (01:32:49):
Alex saying the title chain seems to be because of
the possible tonal shift from Avengers. It's true. If it's
true a series, I highly doubt the stakes will be
that high. Ye Avengers brings more pressure.
Speaker 4 (01:33:01):
Expectations if it was in film for them too.
Speaker 1 (01:33:04):
Yep, Mike's saying it could always be Falcon wearing a
soldier moment where they at the end they call themselves
the Youngridge. Yeah, that's not a bad idea either, you know.
Speaker 5 (01:33:12):
I like that. Maybe we could get a film after that.
That wouldn't be a bad da.
Speaker 1 (01:33:18):
All right, well, we will see what happens with this news.
David will be back next week. We will be breaking
down episode seven of Daredevil Born Again, and we'll be
seeing exactly what news comes next week. But y'all have
a great night and we will see you next week.
Speaker 5 (01:33:34):
Bye bye, see everyone.
